We decided to roll the dice and try this place for our anniversary dinner. The food is good, in fact, it is quite good. My scallops were seared perfectly. I was surprised. Cartersville isnt where I think, hibachi, but it was here and it was good. The portions are enormous, too. Our waiter, Didi, was very attentive and helpful. The negatives, though, kind of balance out the positives. We waited almost 40 minutes from the time we got in the building to having our chef come out. And to be clear, there was one other table in the restaurant that had people sitting at it. They upcharge you $3 for fried rice. Thats a pretty healthy upcharge for some butter and soy sauce. Secondly, we went on a Sunday and were told kids eat 1/2 off, only to then be told it was only for kids under 12...which to be fair was in print in the window, it just wasnt communicated. Then when the check comes, my other daughter, who is 8, didnt have a discounted meal. We ended up getting taken for $120, tip included. I was a little stunned. But also, inflation and whatnot. It was really good food and the hibachi show was fun. Just the delay in service from the chef and the price really kind of ruined it for us.
This place has gone down hill... They have taken many things off the menu and changed management. Theyre menu has wrong prices all over the place (lower than actual), and they wont say anything until you get the bill... They have sneakily atares using smaller shrimp as well and the portions are smaller and more expensive... Not to mention they charge you a $2 premium for fries rice... I mean you do Hibachi people automatically expect that, Ive never paid this anywhere else! This used to be our go to for Japanese lunch but no longer!
The food was served to us luke warm, I think because it had been sitting waiting for someone to bring it to us for a while. We sent the appetizer back because it was cold, but got the same plate back -- meaning they either microwaved it, or tossed it back in the pan for a bit -- and we got back the same half-eaten gyoza that we sent back. There was little service as the editor was busy with too many tables to actually take care of any one of them. We wont be back.
I usually dont leave 1 star reviews but every single time its the exact same thing. Incredibly slow customers service, meals incorrect or just never brought to the table, or we get there and they say they are closed even though i made a phone call to make sure they were still open. They either need to change their hours or stop lying to customers. Absolutely had enough and will not be back.
Absolutely LOVED our chef. He was a trip! Hands down, best hibachi show Ive had the privilege to experience in my life. The filet was incredible and the fried rice was really good, but the chicken was a bit over-cooked.Minus 1 star for not spacing out people as a COVID precaution at the hibachi tables. There is no reason to not do so. Most of the staff were masked, so its not as if they dont know the risk. Help minimize it by not cramming people together. Most other places do so, so why not here?
This is long, so heres the tldr; good service, not great website, yummy sushi. The salad and gyoza were meh.I have only picked up an order I called in for two sushi rolls and an order of gyoza, but I fully intend on going here as much as my wallet allows in the future.I ordered in the afternoon (~2pm) and I wasnt aware of their specials. The website is actually not great, but Im glad I saw the QR menus they are doing so people dont have to touch any menus. I love that during the pandemic. I was told it would be about 15 minutes, and when I arrived the waitress told me she noticed that the three items I got were part of a lunch special, which dropped the price by about $10. She got a good tip for that. This also meant I got a little bonus ginger salad with it. When she took my order, she was also knowledgeable enough about the sushi menu to help me pick fully cooked food because this was a pregnancy craving order. She did say I shouldnt get the Bagel Roll because the fish on top is raw, but the online menu says its smoked salmon. I thought smoked meant it doesnt have bacteria in it but...whatever. It was probably best to go with another tempura item anyway. As for the food. I got the Shrimp Tempura roll which was good. I also got the Dynamite Roll which was also very good. I hadnt had sushi with asparagus in it before, and the girl said it is good. I would have liked it better if the asparagus wasnt so crunchy, but I just didnt enjoy the flavor in the sushi. (I do like asparagus by itself.) It was distracting, but this roll still hit the spot. The salad was literally just a bunch of lettuce, no carrots or anything. But the ginger dressing was nice, not too overwhelming. The gyoza was okay, not very full, and I didnt love the sauce with it. But, that may be because they actually make their sauce, because it tastes different from most dumpling sauce. Even with those minor things, it was a great experience and I will either get my husband on board with picking up stuff every once in a while, or Ill be picking up lunch for myself. I will go in once things are more back to normal.
Yesterday I would if given them one star but today they get 5. I’m 8 months pregnant and you can’t mess around with a pregnant mommas food. We drive from Dallas to get take out and Everytime it’s been great. Last night we didn’t receive our whole order after driving 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. Today I decided to drive back up there and personally speak with the owner or manager. Let’s just say Michael made sure I was taken care of and was very understanding and apologize. We love this place and the lobster roll is amazing. Thanks!
Chef was great, food was good, we didnt get our appetizers, not a big deal. Otherwise, service was pretty quick. The mixed drinks were ok (tasted like a store bought mix). Dont order the avocado salad. Its just iceberg lettuce with probably a quarter of an avocado thinly sliced on top and one shrimp. If you want miso soup with your hibachi you have to ask for it or you get the chicken broth soup with fried onions in it. The workers there were very nice.
Portions are huge. My dynamite sushi roll was yummy and I also got the triple combo dinner of filet mignon, shrimp and scallops which was enough for two people! Steak was really soft and juicy. I will definitely be back. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. They also have a other location I want to check out in the future.
First off let me say our hibachi cook David was amazing and the food was perfect. The servers seemed like they didnt want to be there. We asked for a drink from the bar and they told us that they were not doing drinks tonight (on a Saturday?) 🤔 We spent $150 bucks and left a great tip but im not so sure this will be our hibachi place. This was our first experience here.
Eh, it was ok, could have gone 3 or 4 stars. Service was friendly and efficient, order taken timely and food delivered quickly. Ginger dressing was quite good, not that orange goop you get most places. Soup was also very good, typical broth but no tofu, something else in it. Not sure what, but it was tasty. Had the sushi lunch Supreme, decent portions but no variety. Seven pieces of white fish, tuna and salmon. White fish was ok, salmon was good, tuna very disappointing, rubbery and almost tasteless. California roll was what it was supposed to be. Not quite sure what the side of rice was for..... All in all, about par with any other sushi lunch in Cartersville.
Stood at front desk for 20 minutes before acknowledged. Just to be told they aren’t taking online orders when my order had been placed, confirmed, waited for, and charged my card. This has happened multiple times but tried to give them benefit of the doubt but it’s past that at this point.
Made reservations 3 days in advance no one called to confirm and when we arrived we had to wait 2 hours for a table that was already reserved. The manager was very incompetent and avoiding situations and not trying to help. The server had a horrible attitude. She was lucky to get gratuity because I wasnt going to leave a penny for the horrible service we received. Worst birthday dinner ever will not return for a while. I will not recommend this place again.
I have been twice the first time I went I ordered sushi and I was asking the lady what is the difference between the sushi she would not tell us cuz she couldnt understand us and I said she was really nasty the second time I went we had a reservation for 6:45 we got there at 6:20 so we checked in and we were next in line they said they told us the way it would be 20 minutes. so we waited for 45 minutes and they seated another party before us that got there after us. Then finally we got seated at 7:30. We have a hibachi and I have to say the cook we had was amazing thats the only reason why Im giving two stars.
We were on the road and place a to-go order through their website for a 4:15 pickup. I received a confirmation and the full charge shows up as pending on my credit card app. We arrive at 4:10, go inside and a snippy waitress tells me they dont open until 4:30. I explained that I placed the order and got in a conversation and my card is being charged and she tells me that they havent accepted the order and I wont be charged, and I can wait until 4:30 to put the order in. She claims they close until 4:30 to get their sushi chefs a rest. Clearly this place doesnt have their act together because as you can see on the attached pic they advertise that theyre happy hour begin at 4:00 p.m.!!!! We had a much better experience down the street at Kumo Habachi.... I highly recommend skipping over Kobe and going to Kumo!!
If you’re not going to take online orders on a certain day, you should let your customers know before they arrive to pick up said order.I ordered online, received the confirmation, arrived to pick up my order and was then informed they’re not taking pickup orders. I said I had already paid for my order, and was asked if it had already come out of my account....it was pending but that doesn’t matter! If they didn’t reject the order, it was going to come out at some point. The host grabbed his tablet, found my order and then sent a rejection email. He said, “that should refund your money”. I asked why their online system was open and was told, “We have no control over the online ordering system.” I then asked why I didn’t immediately receive a rejection email or phone call when I placed the order, being that both my email and phone number were input with the order, and was not given an answer. I then confirmed that they are allowing people to order online, letting them show up to pick up their food, and then are telling them they will not receive their food. Unbelievable. This was really fun news to tell my mom on Mother’s Day. And as a side note, they weren’t even on a wait.
The server was very nice and attentive and the restaurant was clean inside however thats where most of the positives stop. The food was ok at best with the fried rice being comparable to microwave fried rice and the chicken was pretty tough. The menu said the meal came with a green salad but when it was served to us the salad was brown. Overall I wouldnt recommend eating here for the price that it costs for the not so great quality of food.
This use to be a favorite place to go but after the poor customer service I will not be back. Ordered an online order a d received a confirmation number and the money was charged to my bank account however upon arrival they said they had no record of the order and REFUSED to give me a refund. The employees were not at all helpful and clearly had no clue what they were doing or how to work their system.
Food was good. However the place needs a very good clean ! Bathrooms disgusting and the view down the passage to the kitchen area was filthy. Multiple menus of different kind given to us.You guys would do so much better with a simple decent menu. Not 4 each we were given and a good clean !
The food here is delicious. I was not expecting the serving size they gave us, it is definitely worth the money. We got the teriyaki chicken plate and I was so pleased. The food is full of flavor and being a huge fan of Yum Yum sauce, it has a unique but delicious taste. Highly recommend the visit.
Great experience with Chef David! He was a lot of fun and did a great job. The food was cooked well and not over done as these types of places can be.It was Friday and they were pretty packed but the servers kept up well. The only thing was we never got our sushi order from our server but glad we didnt because we didnt finish what we had!.We will definitely go back.
This is the best hibachi I have ever been to, I ordered a vanilla cream martini which was so good, like a spiked Starbucks drink. I ordered the appetizer sushi, steak, scallops and shrimp hibachi special and it was on point. Hand down best ever, very clean and not so cramped like all the others. I gave 4 stars because I ordered the sushi appetizer and never received it. I even reminded the waiter 3 times, turns out he does not speak good english at all. Still left without my sushi!
My husband and I love our date nights at Kobe. The place is beautiful, clean and the ambiance is very inviting. Not to mention the best part the attention to detail. Leo our sushi chef impressed us with a mini appetizer while waiting on our order. Everyone is always very friendly and the food is always amazing in presentation and taste. Hands down the best sushi/hibachi place in NW Ga!
The food was great! However, the service was horrible. My wife placed a to-go order with over 45 minutes for pickup. Upon arrival they could not find my pre-payed order. After getting the confirmation number, they found the order and stated that it would be another 8 minutes. These 8 minutes turned into 38! If you want takeout do not order from these guys.
I went for dinner with my husband and our son. Our waitress was not very attentive at all. I asked her about a sushi roll and if they had anything similar to what I was describing. She would only tell me to look at the menu. I appreciate a restaurant that will listen to you and offer suggestions. She also had to be reminded multiple times to bring out drinks and my husbands rice. I’ve definitely had better hibachi and sushi at other places. I wouldn’t go back.
First time here was beyond amazing. Both with food and service. Our cook Richard made us feel more than welcome with fun conversation and lots of laughter. He was amazing!! The hostess was super sweet and had amazing style! The environment was super welcoming and fun for all ages. Highly recommend!
The best ginger salad and all around taste and flavor of the food in town for hibachi. The owner does sometimes force you to move seats against your will when you have 6+ people. I think under 5 in a party can be grouped, stop being cheap. I could understand if it were a group that doesn’t spend money or tip but we all spend $20-30 each and tip well. We come in a good bit and all the servers are cool but that owner or manager who ever he is, is a douchebag to us. But to be clear you can have hibachi lunch made in front of you for $8 that is the best deal in town!
Stopped by for lunch a couple of days after they had a soft opening. The food was excellent and I spent way less than I expected on it. I had a custom sushi roll and their teriyaki chicken. Both were great and the service was quick and efficient. The owner happened to be behind the bar and was very gracious for my business.
Service was great the waiter was very attentive and polite, however the food was relatively sub par... The fried rice tasted microwaved and the chicken was rather tough. I wouldnt particularly recommend eating here as it is fairly expensive for the quality of the food.
This place has been very inconsistent lately. I feel like every time I go in they are either out of something or they just get rid of it completely but still have it on the menu. The service has been seriously lacking as well! I used to love eating at Kobe, but now I’m not sure I’ll be back any time soon. Hopefully they can step it up and make it worth going to again.
Came in with a large party for a birthday. Attempted to call several times in advance for reservations but no one ever answered so we just showed up. Service was incredibly slow, and they seemed perturbed we kept asking for things; like water for everyone. Very disappointed, especially since the bill I paid was hefty for seven people.
Mine and hubby’s favorite sushi spot!!! Love love love!!!! And the bartender is amazing!!! She makes the best margaritas!!!! Don’t know her name but she has glasses. The lemon drops are amazing too!!! Sushi is good!!! Try the Angel roll!!!! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable!!!
Never will I go here again. Ordered to go & came home and half my order was missing. Called back for 10min straight to let them know. Proceeded to go to the restaurant and finally someone answered and said they closed till 4. So, I spent $45 for half of my order to be missing and nothing could be done about it? Sorry management. No wonder they cannot keep staff and are short handed every time I’ve been there.
Our favorite resturaunt! Atmosphere is pleasant, the wait staff and hosts are friendly and the food is always amazing. We dont do the hibachi thing but we always like to sit in one of the couple booths near the kitchens and we have never had a problem with wait times or missing food. There is one server there, I cant remember his name but he is so nice and sweet and he always greets us like he remembers us. My husbands family is from the Philippines and this server was either from there or knew tagalog because he was able to provide us with some resources for learning the language better, he is one of your servers there who go above and beyond for your guests!
I used to love coming here, but lately the service has been lacking to the point of where I think I’m going to have to take a break for a while. My fiancé and I were in recently and were the only ones in there for dinner, and our order came out wrong, after the waiter clarified with us several times what we wanted. They have the best sushi in Cartersville, but with how it’s been recently I may start going elsewhere.
So heres the thing, the food here is overpriced and not very good. We typically go to KUMO for all of our sushi and hibachi needs, but their dining area was still closed due to COVID and we wanted to eat inside somewhere. Weve been here once before, not long after they first opened to try out their ramen to see how it was, and it wasnt that great. But this time we got Chicken Hibachi with fried rice, salad, a Spider Man roll, and some spring rolls. Sad thing is, the spring rolls were the best thing that they brought out. The Spider Man Roll is 12 or 13 bucks, and all you could taste was the white rice on the inside, absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The chicken was weird, it had this kind of teriyaki sauce on it that wasnt that great. Their portions compared to KUMO was horrible, very small and overpriced like stated before. I do not recommend this place to anyone based on our experience. Hopefully their management will see this and try to fix their tasteless and overpriced food. Our service was good!
Finally got a chance to check this place out tonight and had a great experience! I have been hoping for a really good teppanyaki place in Cartersville for a long time and I think we finally have it. It is very clean and brightly lit, unlike many other, more dingy places. All of the food was great, and our chef was quick and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Food was overpriced for the quality and quantity. We ordered a Undo noodle soup which was $12 for noodles and a tiny bit of carrots and we added seafood to it for an additional six dollars and all they put in was 2 scallops. Needless to say our seafood soup which consisted of two scallops and a bowl of noodles and carrots for $18 was not worth it. One of our Children ordered a chicken teriyaki with rice entrée which was $16 and our other child ordered a chicken hibachi on the kids menu for six dollars and the portions were the exact same. Not very happy with what we had to pay for what we got we won’t be heading back there again ever .
Have been three times and first 2 experiences were great. Then, there was tonight. It was an odd experience. Hibachi chef was great and waiter was great...but manager refused to honor a special that was listed on a sign on the table. In fact, they were on ALL tables. “Sorry, that special starts next week.” 🧐Ummmm, ok, then why do you have them out NOW? I expected the manager to honor it - truly a common sense thing - but he stood firm. I’m not super mad or anything, just found the whole thing to be truly truly truly ODD. Note: We are a family of six. We drop serious cash when we go out to eat. Not sure we’ll be dropping $ here again any time soon.
It took almost an hour for service when we sat at the sushi bar on an ordinarily busy Saturday night. It was as if we were in a waitress dead zone and no one was overseeing. We ordered sushimi and rolls. Everything tasted just ok. The octopus was watery from being frozen. The crab was imitation.
Great experience beginning to end! Hostess began with a pleasant smile and greeting...atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable...Marissa was friendly and very attentive, Richard is a true showman with excellent cooking and entertaining skills...Thank you for a truly wonderful dining experience!!!
I was really excited when I heard about this place opening, and I couldnt wait to try the ramen. I went during lunch the first time, and dinner the second. The lunch menu does not have ramen listed, but it did have a childrens menu. The dinner menus have the ramen listed (with out subscription of what is in it), but there is no childrens menu. I was also surprised to find that they didnt have a drink menu available. Our server didnt seem very knowledgeable about any of the menu options, or anything really. She even forgot about us at one point and the owner and sushi chef ended up serving our food. The pricing is about average for thus type of restaurant. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen, and it was not even close to spicy. My older son ordered the tonkatsu ramen, and he loved it. Had an issue ordering for my 2 yr old, because as I said they didnt have a childrens opt-in on the dinner menu. I asked the server if we could order the kids chicken that came with the soup and rice that was offered during lunch, and they seemed clueless as to what I was asking about. They eventually got what I was asking (after asking the owner). My S.O. order 2 special rolls (shrimp tempura & I cant remember the other), and a California roll. It took so long for the sushi to come out. In fact, by the time it got to our table everyone else was almost finished eating. The sushi was okay, but weve had better at other places in town. We spent close to $70 after tip. Even though we werent happy with the over all experience, I would like to try the hibachi eventually. We update review once we do. Unfortunately, I only have a picture of the front of the lunch menu.
We where there for take out and were told to see the bartender after 20 minutes of waiting we left and I tried to call in an order and the phone was off the hook. This is not the way to do business. So I went back in to ask the lady what the deal was just because my kid really wanted something from there and I was ignored!!!!!!! Do your self a favor and go to a different place
The food was really great. Every thing had taste as weird as that sounds. A lot of other japenese restaurants the rice doesn’t really taste like anything but even the rice was good. I got the chicken teriyaki, and to warn it comes on a bed of sautéed onions and then carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms on the side. It was probably the best chicken teriyaki I have ever had. My husband had the steak hibachi and he stated the steak was cooked almost perfectly. We both thought it is probably the best Japanese restaurant in town now. The atmosphere was modern and very clean and bright. We will definitely be going back.
Ive been to sushi joints in over 10 states and multiple countries, with cities including New York City, Chicago, Omaha, Denver any Tokyo. To my surprise, Kobe probably ranks in my top 10 sushi spots overall, although Tokyo (the city) will always have my heart. The prices were very fair- I think the most expensive roll was around $15, but the rest were significantly less. My wife and I were only in town long enough for one meal, so I can only judge the sushi, but the hibachi menu as well as other entres seemed pretty substantial as well. And, again, what we were able to try (four different rolls) was fantastic! On top of their excellent food, the service was fantastic. While some have complained that the service is slow- sushi is not a quick meal, and it should take time if its done right and made fresh, so this was actually a pro in my opinion..In sum. I highly recommend Kobe, and suggest giving them a try if youre an adept sushi/hibachi lover, or if your new to it all and are looking for something other than all the greasy/carby/processed/commercialized junk you get at most other restaurants in the south east.
Never again very poor sevice took 10 minutes to take our drink order then was told by the waitress that we had to wait to give our appetizer order and it turns out she could not take or order because she had to take the peoples order that came in 5 minutes after us! I would have never known id my grand daughter did not have to use the bathroom
This was out 1st visit to Kobe. We were orginally supposed to go to Tokyo and they were closed unexpectedly. So we decided to try Kobe. I am so glad that we did, we were celebrating our daughters 11th birthday. We will definitely be going back. The Kobe staff was very nice, and very accommodating to our large party. Our cook Richard was awesome. He was so fun and talked with us all, danced with the kids so much that the kids really enjoyed the whole experience. We will be back!!

2022-06-08Facts : I ordered the steak fried rice and out of curiosity decided to disect it . I got about 8 small pieces of meat hidden throughout the rice (see photos) I ordered spring rolls for an appetizer and when they arrived they were literally the size of your thumb and very mushy inside . so basically 20 + dollars for fried rice , cheap cuts of meat and mushy spring rolls . BTW : My only tea refill came after I finished my meal , was presented my bill and I asked for more tea . Wont be going back 😕

2022-01-07I giving 2-stars because this is my normal take out sushi place and the sushi is probably the highest quality in the area. If I was just judging on tonight it would be a 1.Took the family for hibachi. It’s my son’s 10th birthday and this was his pick. We were sat promptly. Then after drink orders we were told we had to move to a different table. Okay no big deal. Then after we’re situated the hibachi chef told us the table we were moved to was broken. So he moved us to a third table and told us he would cook our food while he served another table.Well he cooked the food, but at the other table facing the other guest. If I wanted hibachi without the show I’d order it to go. Kinda hard to enjoy the best part through the chefs back. But whatever everyone’s super short staffed I’ll be fine. Then a table was sat at the same table we were moved from “cause it was broken” and a chef came out to help their much larger party. Table seemed to be working fine. Wow okay. Starting to get annoyed. But the icing on top of everything. Was the waitress refused to honor the half priced kids meals that’s posted on a giant sign by the front door. Instead she slaps a kids meal down in front of me with Thursday blacked out. Except we were sat with 4 adult menus. I was never given a kids menu. It’s just irritating to spend $100+ on dinner for 4 and get zero compromise on a $7 discount.I’ll still get sushi to go but I’d look for somewhere else for hibachi.

2022-02-21I placed my order by phone this evening. I’d had dinner with my sister the night before and it was really good! So, I ordered the same meal over the phone. When I get there to pick up my order, I noticed there wasn’t a salad or soup, so I asked the server about it. She said it doesn’t come with soup or salad. I said it’s on the menu here and online. She then said it doesn’t come with soup or salad on call in orders. Really?” They should state this online. Also, my receipt showed the dinner cost a dollar more. I didn’t bother mentioning that. She agreed to provide me with a salad. I was good with that until I got home and opened the carton. The lettuce was as brown as the back of my hand. I was afraid to eat it so I threw it in the trash!” What a difference a day and service make!

2021-08-09Service and food especially the sushi were above average .. the entertainment which always accompany a hibachi experience could be better which would have given the review a full 5 stars

2022-02-24Delicious food and exceptional service. There was only one hibachi chef working when we went due to call outs from the other chefs. He did amazing and the entire meal was well worth the cost.

We ordered everything at once when she finally came. She told us the rice wasnt really that good here. 😕It took forever to get our drinks and the guy out to cook as well as everything else. Including the bill to pay.Food wasnt great, seemed watered down. Salad Dressing, Soup, drinks🍸....

2022-05-29Started off by playing musical chairs 3 times with a 9mo old and two 70+ old grandparents because the hibachi tables are too close together. Our server, Alfat, is in the wrong field of work. He speaks very softly and minimal English. Made it nearly impossible to communicate orders or ask questions.Food was good and chef was funny.

2022-03-19The hibachi was fantastic, as was the sushi. We celebrated my wife becoming a citizen and they did a fantastic job making us and her family feel welcome. Great food and service and will be back.
