La Carreta in other cities:
Im very picky about my Mexican food, and in addition I have many dietary restrictions affecting my health. But I was seated where I could charge my phone (I had arrived early on Cinco de Mayo) and a young waiter named Carlos came to serve me. He was new, but he carefully listened to all my dietary concerns and then showed me on the menu what I could eat within all my restrictions. It was different from what I was used to at my favorite Mexican restaurants, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bite, and I cant say enough about how attentive Carlos was throughout my meal. I bragged on him to his boss, and she was very pleased he did so well. I had flour tacos with diced roasted veggies, and flattened green plantains with guacamole, which was generous enough to spread on the tacos as well as the plantains. Rice and red beans rounded out the meal and I dont know which was the best part of the meal--it was all delicious! I will definitely go back and ask for Carlos to be my server.
Very bad service. Not colombian food at all. It is Mexican food. I ordered Picada. They filled my plate with Chicken. They did not add any papa criolla, beef or any other ingredient in a Picada. Tacos were ok. Service so so. If you are looking for real Colombian restaurant DO NOT go to this one.
I Have been eating here since I was 13 years old I’m now 24 the food used to be delicious but times have Definitely changed and not for the better the waiting staff all look like high-school/collage kids now who don’t really care to be there I walked in with my family and it took 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by the hostess. then after being seated and finally ordering are food it took over 45 mins we had to ask our waiter for everything from cutlery ,napkins, water refills, straws at this point it felt like we were serving are selfs all of this could’ve been forgiven and overlooked but upon receiving food mine came out very bland rice was mushy and nowhere near upheld of how to the standard it used to be The couple next to us had a baby who accidentally spilled water on himself and all over the table the wait staff took over 10 minutes to even acknowledge the spill and legitimately brought over 3 napkins to wipe up an entire cup of water I felt bad for them. Overall unfortunately will not be going back this is probably some of the worst service I’ve received in very long time staff Seemed way more involved with them self’s each other and on their phones then the customers. DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND ALSO HAVE Gotten WAY MORE EXPENSIVE!
Dined with my son on the patio. We ordered tacos with chips, cheese, and salsa. I really liked the salsa. Not a fan of spicy and it was perfect. I also liked that they offer a choice of corn or flour tortillas and you can mix and match if you want. Great service and food.
Have driven by for years..very pleased that I finally stopped in. Chips were very light and fresh, and the salsa was delicious. The wife had two tacos, asada and a pastor, and both were outstanding. I had the cazulea de frijoles which was also very good.We will be back!
I travel a lot and alway up for something new but they say don’t judge a book by the cover.. well that was this place me and my family stop by today around 5pm and it wasn’t busy at all that kind why I don’t understand why this even happened to being with. We sat down order our food which for the price isn’t worth it..we got only half our food and had to wait for the other half but that not the worst part what really got me was the fact that we not only got half or food and not the other half but we sat there with no drink while we ate our meal and the waitress was to busy with the table that order alcohol then to pay attention to what was going on at our table. Not once did management or Any-other waiters pay attention to us trying to get someone to bring us drinks or the rest of our order.when we went to pay the lady said we had to wait till she had to go get the card reader Bc she didn’t have one oh and there is an automatic 3% to your meal if you pay with card ..so if you want over priced food and bad service we’ll y’all came to the right place 😊
Horrible!!! This place so you over price and the quality of food is not near comparing to like the Delicias de la Abuela for example. Just dont go here. The arrachera is a poor little piece of skirt for $20 in other places they give 3 times the amount for the same place like the Sabores del Plata o la Abuela for instance. So they dont provide much flavor not chimichurri or anything is more like a Mexican type of Restaurant than a Colombian place honestly. I had very bad experience. The server was nice and tried I leave him out of this. The beans a very plain and not the flavor should have for either Mexican or Colombian restaurant.
LISTEN TO ME, do not walk RUN to La Carreta!! Do not be influenced by the exterior. The interior is very nice, extremely clean, really cold A/C, and super warm/friendly staff! Everything is hand made here! -from fresh squeezed by hand margaritas to hand made (with love) corn tortillas. The soups are to die for..slow cooked and made from scratch daily. Their house salad is the best fresh salad in all of Marietta. ...and their seafood, steak, and chicken are SO FLAVORFUL! Also the prices are very affordable!February 2020 Update: try their Skinny Margaritas! They are made from scratch! The bartender hand squeezes the limes!July 2021 Update: try their guacamole fresco, you will not be disappointed 😉 Also don’t forget to check out their bodega (small grocery store) on your way out.
A little disappointed in the tacos as I was expecting better. I order grilled chicken, pork and the steak. The steak was the best. The nest had flavor, was tender and paired nicely with the onion and cilantro. The chicken and pork were boring. And since the tacos had the same salsa they all tasted the same. Suggestion: put different salsa on each taco. The chips and salsa were an extra 2.59 for the table. Ours did not get a refill. :(The ambience was modern and traditional at the same time and was pretty busy. There are a few TVs but the tv quality is so bad it hurt my eyes to look at it. Come one the HD package can’t be expensive. There is also a Hispanic grocery store here. Kinda neat.
Very friendly and professional staff. Everything is very clean!! The barbacoa taco and steak quasidilla are best best Ive had at any restaurant (not trying to embellish). Be sure to check out the goodies in the shop. I grabbed some traditional spices as well as some of the prepackaged sweet treats they have. Great bottled soda collection!! Id leave more starts if I could.
Not 1, but 4 or 5 different meat with sides and soup on your plate. Its a haven of meat eater. Absolutely have no complain whatsoever from my first visit. Food was great, service was great and drinks were awesome.I got their Colombian combination (I dont remember the name), but it consists of a piece of steak, sausage, pork belly, rice, avocado and soup. Delicious. I ordered Michelada and it tastes good as well. Highly recommended.
UNFORTUNATELY THE FIRST AND LAST TIME WED GO THERE!Ordered a mango margarita which came with the glass half empty. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she just looked at me with a smile and kept walking. We then ordered the Churrasco with rice and black beans; It was the worst Churrasco and rice Ive eaten. We dont recommend this restaurant!
Everything I had was so delicious: camarones all ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce), coleslaw, chips & guac and agua frescas. Not sure if theyre actually called agua frescas in Columbia (like they are in Mexico), but its fresh fruit pulp blended in water. You can also get it blended with milk. I loved the mango and guava. The passion fruit reminded me of slightly tart pineapple, so it wasnt my fave.My husband enjoyed his tacos and the rice, which has corn in it. We didnt try the beans. The prices are super reasonable. The service is friendly and pretty fast. Well be coming back!
La careta first image of piece of meat they served, second image casa vieja bandeja plate you get what you pay for. Don’t know where to begin, very upset with this place, first off I’d like to shed like to this, I have been to many Colombian restaurants across the United States including many noches de Colombia locations in New Jersey/New York city and CASA VIEJA In Georgia which are authentic delicious Colombian cuisine. I stopped by the careta to try their bandeja de paisa I ordered the small one because usually I can NEVER FINISH a paisita anywhere else from the decent amounts they serve you, this place la careta gave me a laugh with what they brought out I have never been so insulted with a dish I’ve paid for, their bandeja paisa consisted of a piece of meet which looks like they cut up especially to fit that small size which I finished in one bite, a small piece of chicharrón that looked like they threw on there for decoration BEANS THAT ARE NOT COLOMBIAN MORE LIKE CANNED RED BEANS and a couple spoon full of rice. I will never return to this place again, you want a good Colombian plate of food go to casa vieja this place is a BIG NO from me from now on, I had to upload the images below, I did not pay 14$ for a bite of meat and canned beans , never will return and will shed light to those I know on this place. Also wanted to add pictures of what CASA VIEJA In Georgia has to offer by far the best I’ve tried in this state also there service is suburb fast and friendly unlike la careta with rude people.
Overpriced everything here for what it is. Quality and portion of the dish was overlooked to compensate for plating presentation. The slaw is bland, but fresh. a coworker and I both got upset stomachs the last two times weve gone for lunch also. Service was average, but very polite and welcoming.
My family and I visited this place last Saturday, it was our first time there. The waiting time to be seated was fast as well the service to take the order and bringing the food to the table. The food was not so good, specially the bandeja paisa. We always go to another Colombian restaurant located near the Marietta Square that for the same amount of money you get more and its more appealing than this place. I would have given a five star if the food was presented in a much more appealing way.
This was my second trip to this restaurant. The first time was good, this one not so much.I hope the owners see this review and really some changes because I think they have a lot of potential.First, the servers need to be properly trained. They should give you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down not 15 minutes later. They should know exactly what the difference is between a regular and a super premium margarita, the answer “the tequila” is not adequate. My wife ordered chicken tortilla soup. It had very little flavor, it was really just “chicken water”. It could have been helped with some salt but not one table in the restaurant has salt.I ordered the enchilada plate with a tamale on the side. The enchilada fillings were pretty good but the red sauce was literally tomato soup, no enchilada sauce taste whatsoever. And the tamale was mostly corn, very little pork filling. The filling was also very bland, maybe it soaked into the corn......Lastly, a good margarita is paramount for a good Latin restaurant. The first time I went the margarita was good, this time it was not. Mostly mixer and they put it in a mason jar completely full of ice and only filled it 2/3 of the way up. I would estimate it had about 6 oz of margarita and I paid $15!!!This entire trip was a big disappointment, I might go back one day, If I can talk the wife into it.
So this was going to be my new favorite restaurant! The food is great. We spent $80 on lunch, one dish was the picaca. Took the rest to go, asked for some chimichurri in a little cup to go with it. They charged us $3.19. For a little bit of sauce to go with the food. Nothing was mentioned beforehand. Eh, I’ll take my money somewhere a little more honest.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. When I dont want to go anywhere else, I go here. Their authenticity and style are unlike anywhere else in Atlanta! Their food and beverages are made fresh and taste delicious.Their service can be hit or miss, but it doesnt matter to me here. I know the food and drinks are worth it.
Ordered a chicken taco, pork taco and beef taco with rice and black beans. The chicken taco was excellent as were the rice and beans. I couldnt eat the other two tacos because I was already stuffed. I brought them home and will have them for dinner tonight. Also, the service was fast and friendly. Will certainly go back!
Do yourself a favor and check out this restaurant! The food is absolutely amazing! The service is great, the staff is friendly and probably some of the best food we have had in the area. Recommendations: Chicharron, Tostones w Guacamole, Enchiladas, all the Colombian dishes are awesome, honestly, you cannot go wrong with the food here! We drive from Acworth to eat here and have been about 6 times so far. We will definitely be regulars here. Highly recommended! Check it out and you will be amazed! Great job LA Carreta!
Been to this place many times and the food is amazing, if youve never had Columbian one could think of it as a more cosmopolitan version of Mexican... but thats probably a disservice to both cuisines as I love both. Anyway, food is EXCELLENT the service can occasionally be spotty but not to a degree where I would not go. Only criticism I have is they ought to make sure wait staff were fluent English speaking.
I came here with a colleague from work. We didnt know what to eat and decided to try this restaurant in the area. WOW! What a great surprise! The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The service was great also, Danny was so nice! I had the two taco combo (grilled chicken & shrimp) with rice and Mexican slaw. Im not a fan of slaw, but they made it so well! I would denfintly come here for dinner. I like that they have a small grocery store attached to the restaurant, I was able to pick up some Mexican cheese and a few other Latin products! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quaint delicious place to eat. 🤓🙂
The food was simply amazing. Its hard to put into words how good the food was. Not only was it delightful experience, the price is extremely reasonable for the quality of food. Simply put this was one of the best meals I have eaten in a while, who ever made my meal loves their job and is a top quality chef.
I had lunch here today and it was delicious. The tacos were very tasty (I had the asada and pastor), and the rice was light and flavorful. The staff was also very friendly (Stephanie was great!). I dined with four other people and everyone enjoyed their meal. Definitely put this place on your list.
My son and I stumbled on this place after an appointment for a late lunch yesterday. First, the service was fantastic! We were greeted right away and the waiter (wish I could remember his name) that was from Colombia, explained the menu and types of food (Mexican and Colombian) they serve. He also made recommendations. Everything was so good! They make everything fresh including the tortillas and margaritas. I have worked in the restaurant industry and Im very picky, plus rarely have written a review, so that should tell you something!
We found this by trial and error as I asked google for Colombian food; it did not disappoint, it was really good, I had the bandeja paisa and it was on point good flavors, the egg cook correctly and the chicharrón flavorful, my only one small complaint would have to be the rice; they cooked a bit like a Mexican style not like it would be in Colombia, but their menu is a good mix of Colombian classics and a bit of Mexican flair. Overall a good place.
Food was good but not what I expected from a Mexican restaurant. Most places you get chips and salsa when you sit down and here you had to pay for it which was so weird to me. Other than that the food was good. It has a little grocery store in it which was cool and we had fun looking at all the different foods.
The first thing I noticed that put me off was that they charge for chips and salsa. It wasnt too big a deal, so we got some, and the salsa was the most bland Ive ever tasted. No heat at all, it smelled off putting like it may have been old, and it was primarily tomatoes. I ordered cheese enchiladas and my husband ordered a steak burrito. The enchiladas were cool and the cheese chewey. It wasnt warm enough to even melt the cheese in top, and looked like it hadnt been at any point because it still maintained a form that looked straight out of the refrigerator. The rice was just white rice with corn, totally bland with pockets of salt where it all concentrated. The steak burrito was very dry and bland. We did send it back to the kitchen and were not interested in trying another plate at that point. Fortunately the staff was extremely nice and didnt ask us to pay for the meal that we didnt eat. The prices were definitely lower compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, but I would happily pay the price for better quality.
This is a favorite destination for us for family dinners as well as date-nights. The food is excellent--we refuse to go anywhere else when we have a craving for tacos or guacamole. We have tried just about everything on the menu, and it is all good. I love the staff; they are always kind and friendly. I never feel rushed. We love La Carreta and are so thankful it is just around the corner.
I dont usually leave reviews but I had to after our watier gave us the stink eye as we pulled out of the parking lot and drove down the street. This irked me and lead me to believe had we stayed longer in the parking lot we were going to be confronted for not leaving tip. Now, I tip when I receive good service. We were sat quickly but waited a little for our waiter to come then waited longer for drinks then other tables were sat and received chips and salsa. We did not receive chips until we got our food and I requested chips. I ordered a second margarita that was not brought to me. During the whole meal we never got napkins. Once the bill came I was charged for the second margarita but got it removed which lead the waiter to bicker with the bartender for not bringing it to the table. We paid did not leave tip due to bad service and as we are pulling out of the parking lot the waiter walks out on to the patio and gives us the death stare which was completely unnecessary. If you want to be tipped you have to give good service. Will not be back any time soon.
So one of my younger coworkers took me here and for the first time in his life, he was right. The food here is really good. We ordered carne burritos and quesadillas and the guacamole. We both had a couple of drinks and left with a $45 tab, so not too expensive. If you want to get away from the boring Tex-Mex this place is a must go.
Greatly enjoyed the steak with rice, cooked to perfection and felt like velvet in my mouth with a pleasant sharpness of grilled onion. Personally not a fan of the salsa and queso. The salsa needed more flavour then just the taste of cilantro and the queso was a bit flat. All in all, great place to eat!
I went here on a work luncheon and was definitely amazed by the food. Not your typical menu so some people might be bothered by that, cause your not getting the normal fajitas which is great. I have been here several times in the last four months and the food is absolutely delicious. You cant go wrong here.
I never would have tried this place just from looking at it from the outside but it was recommended so I went. So glad I did! The customer service is amazing, the waitstaff are so friendly and helpful but arent pushy. The food is fresh and delicious, I especially love their tacos and tamales, very authentic tasty! If youve never eaten it is a must try. Definitely my favorite Mexican place in the area, and I am huge Mexican food snob :-)
Have come here for at least 2 years and have noticed it is not the same. Food is still mostly good but have had some issues with food preparation in the past few months. Dont feel they are as good as they used to be. I still will give them a visit but they are not my go to place anymore. I hope they restore their reputation in the near future.
The skirt steak I had with grilled onions and rice was terrific. Meat was very tender, but they didnt do a good job of cooking it to medium as I requested. It was definitely closer to well done. The Cole slaw is nothing special, but okay. Guac appetizer is not very big.
Im not a big fan of food outside of BBQ and steak. However, the staff here was absolutely great and the food I did find that I would like to eat was extremely good. My group absolutely loved their food for sure! I will highly recommend this place based on that and how the staff treated us which was top notch.
I thought it was Mexican food but its kind of mix colombia-mex. Anyway the food is amazing-fantastic delicious. Couldnt believe when i saw all the reviews before I said I got to taste this the rice the salad and the meat well cook tender and juicy just perfect and I wasnt that hungry I just stop for some tacos but i had good experience the lady who served she is the best.
Went there for lunch for the first time and it was excellent. No lunch menu, but reasonably priced tacos and tortas. Service was excellent especially for a large party. Been a number of times for dinner and its also good. Margaritas are not great (which is to be expected since this is a Colombian instead of a Mexican restaurant) so we dont go much, but specialty dishes like bandaja paisa are excellent.
This is some of the best food around. This place is in one of the trickest spots to access, but their food makes it worth while. They have some authentic Colombian dishes. Sausages, steak, and soups are my favorite here. My daughter likes the asada tacos. We also have gotten a number of hard-to-find items from the attached grocery. The empenadas are sold in both the restaurant and in the grocery as a impulse item—totally worth it, but the sauces are really the best.
The food was great tonight but a problem with the drinks. I had come by a week earlier and was with a friend. We ordered Margaritas but wanted frozen ones. The waiter said he would see if the bartender would put them in a blender for us because they only served on the rocks. He got the bartender to make frozen ones for us. They were great! Tonight I asked for a margarita put in the blender for me again, I had told my two sisters how good they were and the waiter said he would see if the bartender would do it for me. He came back and said that the bartender would not do that for us, he said he did not know how to use the blender. I looked over at the bar and he was using the blender. It is not that big of a deal to make a margarita and pour it in a blender. I would have for my customer.
To-go order Aug 09, 2020. I had the asada torta - shredded steak sub. It came with lettuce, tomato, cilantro, small jalapeño chunks, avocado slices, and some type of orange sauce or mayo. It also comes with a small container of avocado sauce. Everything was great. The sub was big, like a wider, heftier version of a 6” at subway, and the bread was type brioche. It was a tad spicy even though I pulled jalapeño chunks out. The avocado sauce was very light & mild and added nice flavor to the steak. I also ordered the steak quesadillas. They give you an option of corn or flour tortillas which is rare (because every Mexican restaurant uses flour tortillas for their quesadillas.) It comes with one side, we chose white rice. It came in a small cup. Random kernels of yellow corn in the rice, but delicious flavor. Buttery. The quesadillas themselves had cheese and steak and fried onion. A little bit of the mystery orange sauce on top. They weren’t overdone besides being corn tortillas (they get a little tough compared to flour ones.) We paid $18 total. Great value for money, fresh food, quick in the kitchen (less than 20 minutes) - 10/10 would recommend.
Stumbled across this place on our way home from White Water. Everything was awesome!! Great service, atmosphere, and the food soooo was delicious! The perfect margarita, chips, salsa, queso and tacos! Tried 5 different ones and they were all so tasty i couldnt pick a favorite!!! Defiantly recommend you check this place out!!!
I had no idea this was a restaurant and pass by it almost daily after work, so after reading reviews initially off Goggle and being hungry and not wanting to drive any further, I stopped by and ordered the Chicken Fajita, Pescado (seared Tilapia) taco, and the brownie and ice cream. The service was very attention, courteous, polite, fast, and the food was the best I have had in some time, and I found out the brownies are homemade by a lady and it was absolutely delicious and scrumptious! Everything tasted fresh, full of flavor; as a good meal should be, Im only sorry I have never went here sooner this is as authentic as it gets here, I highly recommend you check it out when in the Marietta area.
Great experience at this one of a kind Mexican Restaurant. They had live music, large open windows, lots of aged-distressed wood architecture and authentic food choices. Their margaritas are amazing, and I would be careful, they are quite potent, be warned. Attached to the main restaurant is a small Mexican market with all kinds of hard to find foods and spices. Plus they sell lottery tickets here too. If you are in the area, skip the cheap cookie cutter Mexican food chains and try this place out. Would recommend!!!!
My first time coming and Im extremely disappointed. the staff is very friendly but the sweet tea tastes like water. All of the chips tasted like the package they were probably kept in. The chips and salsa are only complimentary for the first round. every refill is like $5.99. we ordered just cheese dip and they said chips are extra. Am I supposed to eat it with a spoon?? I hope they learn from every other Mexican restaurant in the world..
This place can get a bit busy sometimes, but thats just because the food here is so great and popular! The decor here is really nice and theres a really convenient store next to the restaurant. Service here is amazing and the owner is such a friendly person. I love this place!
We went here on a whim for a pre-Andretti meal and was very disappointed. Firstly, what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn’t offer complementary chips and salsa. They are $3 under the appetizer section. And the waiter constantly refills it without telling you they charge per. (Any other appetizer it’s expected but for chips and salsa. Seriously. ) the chips are paper thin and not seasoned and the salsa is watered down tomato sauce. Terrible. I ordered the cazuela de frojoles and it was honestly the blandest meal I’ve ever paid over $10 for. My friend said the quesadilla was good but I can’t say. Will not be returning.
Very nice. Decorated with a good eye. The little market is filled with treats and surprises not usually found in this country. Excellent touch!I ordered my food for take out.Went to pick it up and want sure who to go to but they got it together and everything was in place. The Char grilled New York strip was perfection on the highest level!Perfectly charred on the outside, pink in the middle, tender, succulent, juicy and flavorful, it didnt need any sauce at all. It was the best steak Ive eaten in decades! The pastor and asada tacos were disappointedly over cooked and dry, but the pescado taco more than made up for them!Crispy, fresh fish complimented with slaw and jalapenos in corn tortillas, it was very good!I will definitely go back and get another steak! And check out the bar next time!
I have been searching for good Mexican food in the Atlanta area ever since I returned from living in LA 5 years ago. I FINALLY found it! So far I have only eaten their tamales and burritos. Both are fantastic! The verde sauce that comes with the tamales is the the best Ive ever had!! I wish the attached market sold it in jars!!
My father and his coworker decided to stop here for lunch today. we are hispanic, so we are always ready to try new mexican restaurants. this one was suggested by his coworker. they were ovbiously coming from work, a bit dirty, they quickly noticed how everyone in the restaurant treated them differently. The server brought them their drink, they ordered and waited. the whole bar was full of customers who had chips and salsa, he waited for 25-30 mins for their food and never once was offered salsa and chips. i am not sure if these were the servers intentions but it is kind of messed up to not offer or even mention the choice of having that appetizer.
The only reason why I don’t do five starts is because of the staff. They never smile, they never greed the customers. The waitress was more busy talking with her co workers than doing her job. Was waiting for my plantains and never came until I asked her. The food was soooo delicious.
This rating is for our server Ambar. We had a party of 14. We needed 2 more seats and another server refused to give up her empty table for 2 because she was told by management that we can wait for the table next to us to finish (I guess this table was part of Ambar’s section.) It took one of our friends to speak to management and help explain that time has gone by and no one is sitting at the empty table but 2 of our guests are standing up and we are ordering. We called 3 days prior with the number in our party. It was a Birthday celebration. By the way, that table that management wanted us to wait for didn’t get done until 15 minutes before we were done. So what was amazing about Ambar is that from the beginning to the end she kept smiling and she was super friendly and patient!! She didn’t say “the manager said or the server next to said” she was professional and took ownership for her section. She explained at the beginning that we will definitely have that table as soon as they are done. We understand and speak Spanish so we heard the others (server) talking about not taking the empty table. We speak highly to family about this restaurant that is Columbian (not Mexican because we are Mexican American and Puerto Rican.) The food is delicious and the place is clean. Ambar embodies the spirit of friendly customer service! Thank you for taking ownership of what you choose to do and sharing it with your customers. Peace and blessings in your life.
Ive come numerous times to eat at this restaurant so I am severely disappointed with their treatment today. I arrived with my family (party of 5) to celebrate a birthday, and was 2nd on the list to be seated. After waiting for 45min, being told twice that they were getting our table ready, and seeing 3 parties seated, they came back to tell us that they couldnt seat us unless we split up our table because they didnt have bigger tables (there were 3 empty tables throughout at the time that could have easily been placed together). I dont know about you, but if I go to a restaurant with people its because I want to share a meal TOGETHER. Im not going to just eat their food. Its an arrogant way to run a business and I wont continue to give them mine.
This place is the BEST!!!! I have been to many different mexican restaurants, and this, by far, is the best!!! My girlfriend and i came for my birthday. I had 3 taco(asada) combo with black beans, rice and slaw, she had the tamales(2 pork, 1 chicken). I cant tell you the last time I had food this good! Then, came the flan!!! HOMEMADE FREAKING FLAN!!! Finally!! And done correctly! We are going to come back time and time again!! Rafael, our waiter was AMAZING!! Gave us recommendations for next time, and also gave us the best service!!! We will see you guys soon La Carreta!!! We WILL be back!!
AWESOME margaritas and a variety of delicious Latin American dishes on the menu. We enjoyed the tostones with guacamole appetizer and split the Columbian dish Bandeja Paisa. The steak was so tender and delicious as were the sausage and pork belly. Thanks to Christian and Cindy at the bar for recommendations and service. See you again soon!
This is a difficult review. I gave 2 stars because the guacamole was excellent and hand made, and the quality of the meat was excellent. I could not give a higher rating as I dont classify this place as Mexican. Id classify it more as a sort of Chipotle/Qdoba. This is the first mexican restraunt Ive been to that serves white rice, bland food and only has 1 kind of salsa...sweet. I asked for hot sauce or green chili sauce and the lady look confused. She came back a couple minutes later and said she out hot sauce in it. It was terrible. The waitress was attentive and the place seemed nice and busy. Im new to the area and am seriously hoping this isnt what Eastern people think Mexican food is.Needless to say, although the quality of the food was good, I would never step foot back in this place, even if they paid me to come in and I do not recommend, unless youre looking for another fast food Qdoba.
I like it but its not the best... Small portions and the price is a little expensive for the portion.Definitely hands down the best Colombian restaurant is casa vieja, tasted way better and a waaaaay bigger portion for your money. Its 100% colombian 100% authentic. I have travel a lot an by far this is my #1 choice casa vieja
This restaurant/Hispanic store hybrid has a nice cultural clean environment. The restaurant contains a wide unique drinks and variety of foods. In fact, they additionally offer soup specials from Fridays to Saturdays. Despite having the positive benefits, its work can be overlooked. For instance, Ive recieved a food where there was spit (which was then taken care of). Furthermore, the tables would get full that it would force new guests to wait. Despite all those, I would still recommend this restaurant for those interested in cultural aspects of life.
Came here with my family, but the waitress made us go through an embarrassing moment due to the tip. We understand that the 11% graditude is the FAIR amount for the tip of the waitress. But as I was leaving, the cook of the restaurant/ bus boy came up behind me & infront of everyone asked me if I had a good service because there was no tip left. ( we left a tip plus an extra 16$ dollars cause we were so confused) I don’t understand why the cook/ bus boy had to come up to me to ask such a thing. We come here a lot & never had a problem with the tip. All I’m saying is that you don’t treat customers like that at all.So if you want to come here & leave feeling robbed be my guest.
$50 for 3 people to eat. Sweet tea didnt taste fresh. The tacos are so small, its crazy. The quesadilla was pretty good but not worth the price. I think they are charging too high for what you get. And who on earth at a Mexican restaurant serves plain white rice with food? Talk about pitiful. Blowing up the toilet now since it tore my stomach up. Friendly customer service. But too pricy and tortillas are tiny corn tortillas. Ill stick to my favorite Mexican in Jax Fl.....El Potro!
LOOOOOOVE this place! The food is AWESOME! (You must eat these tostones at least once before you die). I am obsessed with the camarones a la diabla. And the tamales. And the burritos pastor. The service is great, they serve up a mean glass of sangria. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. And all at an unbelievable price!
Friendly service, great food, good price, clean place some weekends great alive music.... I go their at least once a week with my friends. Some times if you get there for late dinner you do not get a great food since is about the end of their day work and I believe their food is made fresh every day. I would recommend it any time.
I have gone to la carreta for lunch and dinner a few times and had a great experience but my last visit was very disappointing. As usual I was greeted by the server and he walk us to the table. He took our orders. As we are waiting for our food I noticed about three other parties being seated. After thirty minutes of waiting for my food I noticed that the other parties that arrive after I did where getting there food before me. After waiting for 40 minutes the server comes back to tell me that they are short staffed and that my food should be coming out shortly. So after waiting another 20 minutes for my food I decided to get up and leave. Bottom line, dont tell me your short staffed if what really happened was that the server forgot to place my order.I will not go to la carreta for a while. If I want Colombian food I will go to kiosko instead.
I got to tell you This place is one of my local favorites. The food is always excellent as well as very interesting. BUT THE STAFF IS NOT WELL TRAINED AND LACK EXPERIENCE. THE NEW BARTENDER IS DEFINITELY NOT QUALIFIED TOO DO THE JOB SHE IS GIVEN. WHICH IS WHY I ONLY GAVE 3 STARS. I WILL TRY IT ONE MORE TIME BUT IF SHE IS BEHIND THE BAR I WILL NOT BE BACK.SORRY
Read the reviews and had to check it out for myself... Awesome! Inside is very clean and cozy; just feels very welcoming. The staff is very friendly. We had some young gentleman wait on us who was very helpful, wish I remembered his name to give him the credit. I will be back, but next time a little earlier considering they close kind of early. Very good!
We always go to this restaurant. I love the food, but today the customer service was horrible. We came in and waited for service for more than 15 minutes. All servers saw us and no one bother to ask if we had been helped. We walked out and no one bother to apologize or help us. Extremely disappointed. While we were waiting 2 other tables were served with drinks and they had already ordered. We got up when the 3rd table came in and the server rushed to them. Again extremely disappointed.
I really like the food here. My choice is the and PicadaPork belly, Colombia sausage, steak, chicken, morcilla & tostones -$16.59my wife gets the Bandeja PaisaThe most Colombian traditional meal, delicious home made rice, beans, Colombian chorizo, pork belly, steak, fried egg, avocado & arepa -$13.49
Authentic Columbian cuisine. I was shocked to find out there was a restaurant that served Columbian dishes. Tired of the millions of Mexican restaurants so this is the one to go to. Every bite was flavourful and so well executed. Moving this to the top of my go to places
Was my first time I went to this restaurant and my first impression was poor, I was waiting to be seated and host or manager were walking around, there were tables empty and waiting that someone in the restaurant find a table for me. The food, server were great and the price too.
I remember when La Caretta was a Colombia restaurant and grocer. I guess now it is bundled up into a Latin food category. That saddens me. Went there for breakfast and we had to detail exactly what we wanted (not on the menu), a super common Colombia breakfast had to be explained in great detail. Food was good...staff was nice enough...I just miss true Colombian food...so I really cant say it was a great experience. The pan de bonos were on point though! Expensive though.
Amazing, unique food. If you are in the mood for Mexican type food, but want something a little different. La Carreta has some of the best food I have had in Atlanta. Their Columbian specialties cannot be beat. Go for the Caldo de Pollo or the Tostones con Guacamole and you will not be disappointed.
I never dreamed of going in this place until I ran out of gas one day and coasted the car into the parking lot of La Caretta. Before heading down the road on foot to a gas station, I went in just to let them know I wasnt abandoning my car out front, or using their parking lot to go elsewhere. At the counter, a man in his late 20s (I think) greeted me. When I told him my car was out front and Id be back soon, he offered to give me a ride to get gas, and even searched their storage for a container so I wouldnt have to buy another gas can. He jumped into action and I didnt even have to wait (of course, it wasnt in the middle of lunch or dinner). Two weeks later, a friend and I were driving by and I suggested we stop there for a light meal. We were not disappointed. The service was just as friendly and welcoming as he was the day he helped me out. I think their service esp. is above and beyond.
Im a from Mexico city ,I live in Atlanta if you are looking for food like any corner at Mexico city probably we wont find it here, but this place offers things really similar to what we could find in a Mexican Fonda like enchiladas or tamales, the horchata water is also good and unlimited refills, the only downside is that portions are not as big as we are used to.

2022-03-29The food was not good at all. It tasted like it was heated in a microwave, including the salsa. My friend and I didn’t even eat it. The steak tacos was of low quality. The burrito was full of rice with 3 pieces of chicken in it like it was a joke or something. The only thing decent was the plantains.

2022-05-27The moment we walked in the door. We could tell from the atmosphere this place was different. The service is top notch. Attentive. Making sure our orders were correct and served in a timely manner. The steak enchiladas cooked in a skillet. Very authentic food. The black beans and rice. A must visit restaurant.

2021-06-21Excellent spot to visit after a long day of work or after a visit to the nearby six flags park. Their Colombian meat platter is pretty good, you’ll get steak, sausage, pork, beans, rice with a fried egg, arepa and avocado. Everything was delicious except for the pork, it was a little dry and tough. The service was excellent and very attentive to our needs besides the food. A good experience overall for Colombian food 👍P.s. their drinks 🍹 are strong

2022-02-15Ordered the brisket burrito, not traditional with cheese and red sauce which was a bummer, but the meat had good flavor. The coleslaw as a side was good and healthy. I really enjoyed their espresso drinks latte/cuppachino, nice frothy milk, which isnt listed on their menu. They happened to have live music, not sure if thats usual or just valentines.

2022-06-14La Carreta is one of our go-to places for delicious, fresh and affordable options. They have wonderful, fresh lime margaritas (I wont touch drinks with sweet/sour artificial mixes) and some of our faves include the fried plantains with guacamole, their tamales and their variety of a la carte tacos. We love that the restaurant isnt too big and that the service is also efficient and friendly. The attached market is a big bonus if you want to take some authentic items and ingredients home with you after your meal!

2022-06-07Excellent food (and plentiful). Patio is pooch friendly and the staff is super nice. Right across the street from Andretti Indoor Carting and easy access from the interstate. Brisket burritos are a must try.

2022-05-01This was the worse place ever. When we got there not only did they not greet us. They purposefully ignored us. I had to ask who the host was just to get some attention. It took 45 mins to receive our food, all that waiting and then we got terrible food. My pork chop was completely charred, but it was covered in onions so I didn’t know it until I took my first bite. Do yourself a favor, and never eat at this restaurant. Unless you’re looking for Subpar service, and burnt expensive food. Would only recommend to my enemies.
