We love our local Mexican restaurant! Good food & good drinks!
Honestly tex mex is not my jam so not a fair review. The waitress was cool and recommended charo beans, get them. The guac was worth it, but skip the premade margaritas. Had a good time though.
The food was SO fresh and flavorful. Our margaritas were delicious and every item we ordered for our large party was great. The plantains are wonderful and I got the grilled Nemo street tacos. We have never tried this place before and will definitely be going back! Apparently they just got new owners, and they are definitely doing a fantastic job. Lindsey was great- everybody was so friendly and attentive. Thanks for the wonderful dinner!
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the whole wall was covered with pictures of skeletons and bones and people with their faces painted like skulls. There was a sign that said, stay spooky and skulls on the shelf with upside down beer bottles stuck in their mouths. I thought it was all very inappropriate for a restaurant and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I ordered a quesadilla. The tortilla was not folded like a normal quesadilla with everything in the middle of it, but the tortilla was laid flat on top of the cheese with the chicken on top. That made the tortilla soggy and I couldnt fold it because it was stuck to the cheese. It was a to-go order and there was no fork or napkin in it. Then, when I paid for it with a $20 bill the young man didnt know how to give the correct change to me. I will not be going back to that restaurant.
The food was good, the wait time wasnt bad, but the utensils were a little dirty and the grading on the restaurant is an 82.

Tried out this place with high hopes. I noticed that the bad reviews were do to service and not food. People!!! There is work force shortage and even though everything is opened back up … we’re not back to normal YET. We were fortunate that we had good service and good food. I was very pleased. I had stopped going to this restaurant under previous owner because the food just wasn’t good anymore. I will be returning and ordering takeout 😊🥳 The food was good and what I would expect from this place. I am Happy New Customer! Give them a try for yourself 😊
We used to come often but have not been in a long time because of the terrible service and sub par food. We took a chance and came in tonight for dinner. I have to say we had a much better experience. Our server/bartender was awesome! Katelyn was ready to help us as soon as we sat down. She gave us the best service we have ever had here and never made us wait for anything. The food was also much better than before. It came out fast and fresh. Needless to say we will start coming back especially when Katelyn is working.

I am new to this area and found La Catrina in Ball Ground. I have received great food and impeccable service. You want to customize your food order, no problem. You want a cold beer or a good margarita? You got it.Great people, great place!
When they were Pueblo they were amazing! Since changing, gave them 3 tries, they now strike out. Quality/taste of food is just sadly not the same. Was 5 stars, now 1.Gave an extra try for just the fresh quac. That even went down hill just chunks of an avocado, way too much onion. Nope. 0 stars. Never again. I get the La Catrina theme, but the decor is overkill creepy and Im a big fan of Halloween too.

I had 3 bad experiences before I left this because Im in retail so I understand things happen. This place has really gone down hill since it changed its name and I assume oweners and/or managers. The service takes way too long for a simple acknowledgment, the server we got 2 of 3 times I would bet my weekly paycheck is drunk and/or high. We waited 20 minutes after our order to find out they didnt have the tamales we ordered. This place used to have extremely great service and food so my Wife and I would visit at least twice per month. I cannot believe so much could change for the worst from a change of a name in such a short amount of time. We dont have much in Ball Ground so its terrible this is one less establishment I get to visit.
Got take out from them today. Havnt been there in a long while, service had gotten so bad. Today, the food was spot on, service was really good (two new faces) and portions were big. Will definitely go back very soon.
Always kind service and large portion sizes, especially for the price. The chicken seems to always be dry, but literally everything else I have ordered has been great. Very accommodating and nice.
After not eating here for about 6 months, we noticed the restaurant had new ownership, same name as the one in Canton we like. Optimistically we gave them a try only to be let down that the reason we stopped going is still there and still a problem. Though the food is good and (mostly) fairly priced, the service is the same as before.The server that was always a disappoinment before is still there and ruins the meal. He doesnt bother to write down the order, yet forgets every time. I had to repeat my entire order back to him, the table across from us ordered 2 of the same thing yet only received one, and the table behind us had to repeat their order. He never responds or even reacts when you say thank you, he just seems bothered to even be there. And to top it all off when I am trying to request something he walks away mid-sentence and returns with the wrong thing, when I ask for what I want his first reaction is to tell me flat out No.. only because it wasnt as convenient.We will continue to drive twice the distance for better service elsewhere. We hope the new owners can get this fixed as we would enjoy the restaurant if we didnt have to deal with this server almost every time.

Stopped in to grab dinner. Food was somewhere between ok and good. Ordering was confusing and I felt like the waiter was woefully ill trained. They got the order wrong it was re done then they got it wrong again. We got a couple of tacos so that they wouldnt have to redo another plate of steak and they charged us for them. The place has a good heart their intentions seem good but they definitely need to work out some issues. I would definitely give them another shot.

We have tried several times before and after new ownership and manage still have such horrible service. We have gotten to the point where we would rather drive 30 more minutes round trip to get to Fuegos and know we will have good service. This place has amazing food, but really needs to get rid of the male server with mini pony tail.
First time eating here. The staff was wonderful as well as the food and drinks. We stopped since we had a $5 off coupon but didnt use it since we were so pleased with our experience. Will definitely eat (and drink!) here again.

If I could leave less than one star I would. Horrible service. Took 20 minutes to get someone to even take a drink order. Finally was able to order after a hour of waiting. Food came out and it was wrong. We were then charged for another tables meal instead of our own. When asked to see the correct receipt, the server still proceeded to print the wrong one. Pretty positive our server was under the influence. Do not go here unless you have a lot of spare time and a lot of patience.

It was difficult to find a menu online, so I had to order by the seat of my pants. I thought I was clear but unfortunately my order was not quite what I specified. Despite this, the food was excellent and it was a good experience.

Jose, our server, was friendly and efficient... The complimentary chips and salsa were great as expected and my main dish, ( I dont remember the name) steak, shrimp and chicken in queso was fabulous... All for a reasonable price. ($$) Not much more than fast food.

Terrible service. Going through all the reviews on here now and seeing that there is a common trend. The male server (I think his name is either José or Tuco) is still with them after the remodel. Hes the reason we stopped going to the Pueblo Grill. I really hope the new owners take the time to read these posts and do something about him. The food is okay.
Food was awful and the service was awful. Steak was like jerky, portion size on some items could have fed a family of 6 (not really a good thing) while other items was tiny. So much more I could say but none of it is good
My wife and I enjoy eating here every now and then because its close by. Normally we get decent service and the food is good. Tonight we werent really acknowledged until stepping farther in to where we believe the bartender could see us. He was our server and wasnt very personable. Handed us the menu as if it was an inconvenience. After looking through it and deciding what we wanted he finally came back. When we got our food my wife noticed hers was salty, but we didnt say anything. He didnt come back to check on us or offer refills. He was too busy talking with the servers. Once we were finished it took my wife making eye contact with a different server for him to realize we were ready to go. We asked for boxes and he just holds them right in my wifes face while continuing to converse with the servers. It wasnt until then that he asked if we wanted to go drinks.This was one trip, but it wont stop us from going and enjoying the food.

I honestly cant believe this place is rated so high. Its literally some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had, and I love Mexican food, and eat it all the time. The food is unflavored and the service is extremely slow. I never got a drink refill, and I had to wait 30 minutes for a check.
Meh. I went the first week they opened and there was a roach... To be fair this always happens when new places open because of renovations of buildings that sit for a while. The server was crazy. She started talking to me and my husband about her menstrual cycle. We had our meal comped and I didnt tip her. She may not even work there anymore.Today I went because I was close by and hungry. It was better. The food wasnt impressive, but the service was fine. It was slow, there was only me and one other person in the whole place. So... Its really not a fair assessment of service.. bottom line, I dont really care for it. Its just not for me. 7 Tequilas or Viva Mexico in Canton is so much better.. the food, service and atmosphere is just better at one of these other restaurants. See for yourself. Dont pass on it, just dont get your hopes up.
Good Mexican food. We have been here several times and have enjoyed our dishes each time. The service is always friendly and with only one exception fast. They have a number of unique chicken dishes that are really good. They do table side guacamole as well. They also have a pretty good drink menu
I have been going here for like 2 years. The past few times I’ve been I got food poisoning. The beef tasted old and the tortilla were stale. I was so sick that I almost went to the doctor. Whatever you do, don’t go into this dump. Unless they have fixed themselves, be warned. You won’t leave happy. I was so sad when their food was gross cause I used to love it here. Now I just go to Dos Margaritas in Canton. Also I mentioned how gross the food was to the waiter and he pretty much looked at me with anger. He didn’t take a dime off the check which made me furious. So yeah there’s my review people.
UPDATE 4.22.21: New owner I believe w/new name. ON A GOOD NOTE: I love all the low carb options on their new menu!! Pretty good prices too. The renovation is ok for a cafe or cafeteria style restaurant. It lost the ambiance it useto have :( Does not feel like a Mexican restaurant anymore). My husband said the mens restroom is BAD. The service has gotten bad over the last 2 years. Very slow & not real friendly at all. But, they need to work on the service. My husband says we are not going back because the waiter was rude, like irritated that he had to help us?? He didnt say hello & talked kinda rude too the whole time...He said, WHAT DO YOU WANT? He needs to learn customer courtesy if he is wait staff. Its one thing to be short on staff or slow...its another to be a rude server.THIS NEXT REVIEW WAS A FEW YRS AGO...Amazing food at good prices! Atmosphere is very nice With live music sometimes with live music sometimes and service is pretty good as well. We go here almost every week 😍

This place used to be great. Friendly, good food, good service, low prices. Now you go there and sit there for 15 minutes before someone even asks for your drink order, half the staff are miserable and rude, then you sit there and wait for someone to remember that you need your check. Nobody asks if your food was good or even if it was right. We stopped coming here for a long time and decided to give it a try after they rebranded but it is worse rather than better. It’s unfortunate to watch a great place go so far downhill so fast.

Fantastic fresh made guac, table-side; delicious, hot, super fresh food delivered together (we were a party of 8); Claudia was very helpful! Drinks & drink ingredients is their area of opportunity, hence the 4.
Stopped in because the reviews were good... they didnt lie! Fresh made guacamole and the fajitas rancheras for two were delicious. The fajitas really were enough for 3-4 people. They are pictured in the photo. Extremely delicious dish, comes with five different types of meat. The staff is friendly and quick. When we are in town again Ill definitely stop by again.

Just pushed it to a 5-star, but a solid 4.5 is fair because I havent tried a great deal of the menu yet. Food is really good, great value for sure with good portions! Great to have them in Ball Ground!
I have to make a review on my visit today at the Ball Ground location. I have been going there for the last 2 years since we moved to Ball Ground and today I’m done with the poor take out service. We order the exact same thing every time so there is no excuse for today. I called my order in tonight and order Fajitas nachos and asked for no steak and add extra shrimp and cheese. So it should have been just shrimp and chicken with veggies. When I got home there was no shrimp at all. When I ordered I told the girl who spoke very good English to make sure they understood because we had had problems in the past. She assured me she would. When I arrived at the restaurant the Manager Hosea took my payment and I even asked him to make sure and he said it was done right. They tie up the bags so tightly that I would have had to cut it open to check it myself.So I took the manager at his word. When I called them to let them know what had happened the same girl(R) said that she was sorry and she spoke to the cook and he said he put shrimp in. I told her that he didn’t and asked to speak to manager and she told me to have a Blessed Day and hung up on me.It took me a bit to get them back on the phone and when I finally did I asked to speak to manager again and she said he was busy. She said all he could do was give me 8 shrimp if I came back to get it next time I was in. I asked for a refund for the bad service I had received and she said that they couldn’t and she admitted to me that they had made a mistake but she said that they couldn’t afford to give away free meals.My respond to that is what you really can’t afford is being inconsiderate of your paying customers. Like I said this is not the first time the order has been wrong but I haven’t heard of a manager handling this kind of thing in such a way. When I asked for Hosea’s last name she said she didn’t know it😳Really!!!I never write reviews but I had to this time. So make sure you always check your orders for takeout.
We dont live in this area but were passing through on a road trip. We saw the good reviews on Google and drove over to give it a try. They are very friendly with super fast service. The food was really good. We had four different dishes at our table and everyone said their food was really good. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
This was my familys and mine first time here and we will definitely come back. The staff was friendly and the service was great. My husband got the guacamole and it was a huge bowl for the price, and he said it was the best hes had.
Very unfortunate. Im not sure if ownership changed in 2018 but it sure seems like it did. I was a weekly customer since they opened their doors doors. This year food taste and consistancy went down. I almost never go there now. I drive from Ball Ground past this place to 7 Tequilas in Canton. I tried it again last night and again the food wasnt good. The pork was way over cooked and hard. Cocktails have never been the best and still arent. They could do sooo much better with a margarita. I really hope they improve this coming year. It was nice and convenient going there. Get it together folks!!
I needed some lunch! Skipped breakfast, and was going from Ball Ground to Jasper. Stopped in, got a to go box. It hit the spot and didnt cost an arm and a leg! Really enjoyed it 😊! Didnt have to wait very long and I had asked for a recommendation. Tried it and have gotten it again! Also tried the chile rellenos. Very good!

Great food and drinks. Jalapeno margarita has just the right amount of spice but not so hot that it burns your mouth. Burrito Gringo is great and large. Definitely a two meal burrito! Service was great also!

Clean restaurant. Efficient, friendly service. Obnoxiously loud hip hop music blaring ruined the positives. Salsa was excellent. Beef fajitas were low quality and gistly meat. Veggies cut so haphazardly it was laughable. Huge hunks and tiny slivers made for uneven cooking so veggies were raw or black. Stingy with Pico and sour cream. Very disappointing. $15 was way too much for an unseasoned meal!

Ate dinner here tonight everything was delicious our server caitlyn provided exceptional service.
I want to like this place because it is so close to home but there is always something that just isnt good or consistent. My son said the steak was chewy and tasted like tuna. The refried beans were dried out and crusty. The Mexican rice was not seasoned right and was almost wet. The red sauce was thick and tasted like tomato paste. The ground beef in the burritos and enchiladas is bland. The chips and salsa were the best part. The floutas were also good. We still prefer Dos Margaritas down the road in Canton (#1 best) or the Pueblo Grill in Jasper (#2). They are better quality and more consistent. Sorry, but Im just being honest.

We went here on Cinco de Mayo and they had an awesome band playing outside, a bounce house for kids, the staff was great, and their food was delicious. I would have rated them 5 stars but they seem to be more expensive when compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area.

Ordered the taxanas. Paid 13 dollars for nearly all vegetables. Hardly any meat. The place wasnt busy. He told me my food would be ready in 5 min. Got the food and it was just warmed over i believe. Asked for peppers in cheese dip and didnt get that. Called and all i got is im sorry. Ok im sorry. Wont come back.

It took awhile to get our drinks and then it was almost 20 mins before they took our order. The food came out and it was cold when they were told all they did was take it to the back and put the plate in the oven. I will not be back there service was bad and food was bad to.

Carry out: The food is delicious IF they can get your order correct. 3 times I’ve ordered, picked up and had to go back because the order was incorrect.
I placed a to go order, did not know the meal was either beef or chicken I thought it was chicken. I get all the way home to see that its beef. I go back in to get it changed and they tell me I have to pay for a whole new meal. Thats bullshit. If they would have asked if I wanted it beef or chicken this would not of happened. If you want a customer to keep coming back, youll satisfy their needs. Their food isnt even all that great, I eat there bc its closer. The Mexican by Walmart on exit 20 is ten times better, and thats where Ill be taking my business from now on.

Best Mexican food around the area. The people are always nice and whatever they season their ground beef with is so much better than many places.

Good food over all but take out orders have to walk all the way thru the crowded dining room to get to the bar to pick up their order. For this reason I stopped going there...they have corrected this issue as of 7/30/2017

2021-10-21The staff on Oct/10/2021 at 7:02p.m was amazing and fantastic food. When we arrived we were seated in a busy traffic path even thou the place was not full strength. We hesitated but requested to change the seating arrangement. The Host accommodated and said We are here to serve please find a spot we will help you. On-house chips first time was Ok but second round was hot and Salsa both time was worth the wait. All food we ordered was good and huge. The service was worth a trip to Ball Ground from Atlanta. Do visit the place and shout out to customer friendly restaurants.

2022-05-14We love this place. The food is fresh and delicious and Caitlyn is the bomb. The new management has made some changes that are definitely positive! It’s our local go-to. Amber makes great margaritas and always provides great service every time! Vicki makes the best Texas and Fresca margaritas! We love them all and that includes Marco pollo!

I had to go find them.Disgusting food dripping heavy in grease.Chicken taco meat tasted like it was boiled, tasteless and cold.Both meals were inedible.A worthless meal that cost $38 .Would NOT RECOMMEND OR EVER GO THERE AGAIN!

2022-02-04Attentive staff, loved the hibiscus margaritas. I had the chimichanga, menu had choice of chicken or shredded beef. I ordered the beef, which was ground beef and not shredded, I would have ordered the chicken had I known, taste was fine I just dont like my food falling apart like that. Overall, good food, service, and atmosphere.

2021-11-11Lindsey and Caitlyn gave me GREAT service this afternoon. Very quick, lots of laughs and great recommendations as to what to order. Caitlyn even made me a hand squeezed margarita that I can seriously taste the love in. Come visit these ladies!!
