LA Fitness in other cities:
The front desk staff are super friendly! That is the only good thing of this gym. Been to several LA Fitness in metro Atlanta/ out of state and this La Fitness is the worst. All the stair-masters have been broken for MONTHS!! Occasionally there is ONE working. Very little equipment and very cramp. The sauna is never hot enough compare to all other LA Fitness I been to
I was done with LA Fitness after their crazy older receptionist lady yelled at me. I did not even have my membership for a month. This location is also very small and over crowded. It smells like pool water throughout the whole gym.FOR THE LADIES!! - Men have walked into the woman’s sauna while I’ve been there!
I like this location for quick workouts, when it isn’t crowded. Supposedly they downsized — that’s unfortunate, because it’s a great location.• The facility is typically very clean — unlike the Lenox-Buckhead location.• Mykey at the front desk is awesome. He’s always friendly and seems to enjoy his job. He is always greeting people & tidying up the place when needed and he handles requests quickly.• The spin classes always seems hyped. 👍• Downside: Stairclimber’s are almost always out of order. There are a few to pick from, but usually only 1 or 2 of them works.• There truly isn’t a enough equipment… kind of blows my mind. When I say there’s almost no leg machines……. I mean there’s literally like (6) things… the rest is upper body & some free weights.• The women’s restroom sometimes doesn’t have soap in the dispenses — not okay.
I’ve been trying cancel this membership for a while now since I no longer work near this location. I’ve called to cancel at least 3 times and they say they don’t accept cancellations over the phone. They’ve emailed me links to cancel that do not work. One time I called to cancel and they said they would transfer me to a number that could cancel me but left me on hold for 15 minutes. I finally drove an hour to cancel in person and they said the only person that could cancel had just left (in the middle of the day on a weekday). I came back again and the only person that can cancel was still not available. I wrote a note on paper and gave it to them so hopefully it’s finally canceled. I will never get another LA Fitness membership again. Thieves.
The front desk workers are nice . But the workout Machines are horrible . There are no different work out machine equipment . One would have thought since it is Atlantic station it will be nice . No it not the AC is also not very functional I have been to other metro locations and I am always amaze of how there are a lot of varieties to work out with but in Atlantic Station there isn’t .sad sad sad
Not sure if the very skinny flamboyant black guy who sits at the front is a manager, but his attitude is disgusting and he’s very unprofessional. LA Fitness should start sending in people disguised as customers just to see how disrespectful some of their employees are.
For a gym in the heart of a big city like Atlanta, you sure would expect a lot better. Gym space is cramped, equipment is outdated, and they don’t have a lot of machines you’d want to use.I’ve watched them attempt to fix the basketball court for the better part of two years, placing bandaids over flesh wounds expecting it to be better. It’s not.Lastly the locker rooms are very dingy. Even the lockers themselves have clasps falling off. Can’t even put my stuff in there without thinking it’ll get stolen.
I been to every LA Fitness center in Atlanta. Alot of them, I visited multiple times. Not once have I felt the need to review an LA Fitness. But today, im doing it because the reception guy there threw my whole spirit off with his attitude. My phone was dead n I left my id in the car. Like most LA Fitness, they just input my number n look at the picture. This guy decidsx it was to much work for him to do. Instead of him getting off the phone, which seems like it was a personal call, he complained to me. That threw my spirits off. It ruined my workout. I shouldnt feel like the bad guy because LA Fitness employees dont want to do simple things. This LA Fitness need to fix their customers service.
The weightlifting is average, if not a little short on frequently used equipment. The reason for 1 star is that for 11 of the past 12 months, the pool and hot tub has been under renovations. Each time I ask about it, Im assured that this is the month. And each month that passes by, lo and behold, the pool stays closed. Great way for the club to save money I guess. For you basketball players, beware! Renovations started on the basketball court 2 months ago. Maybe try back in 2021. I think they might be trying to see how much of the gym they can close and still have people pay.
I only went for 2 or 3 days, and the folks are extremely rude just like any other LA fitness. I rather drive out my way to workout at Anytime Fitness or Planet Fitness or ANY OTHER GYM besides LA fitness.I went for a guest pass, dude w the dreads gave me the plan HE wanted to give me as if he was paying for it. I asked for a guest pass and he swindled me into a contract in which I’m cancelling TODAY. Moreover, later in the day I noticed a missed call and I called in to see who called me and I was talking to a receptionist that hung up on me after a woman staff in the background RUDELY said, “just hang up” when he was trying to help me... won’t be returning.
Clean. Lots of cardio equipment and machines for circuit training. They blocked off the area with the kettlebells and TRX cables for personal training services only, which honestly sucks since those are two of my favorite pieces of equipment. I never see personal trainers working in those areas when I go in the AM, so I wish they’d open it up to the general gym go-ers when PTs weren’t using it. It’s not an incentive for me to hire one. They need at least one row machine, maybe one more squat racks, and a deadlifting platform or 2 like I’ve seen at some of the other LA Fitness gyms. Unfortunately this is the nicest one around Midtown.
The gym is fairly nice. Has regular issues most gyms face like broken equipment, etc. air conditioner has been out. But overall, the gym is kept fairly clean and the staff are friendly. Just avoid during busy hours it’s hard to get equipment. Also it’d be nice if they had boxes (for box jumping) for people who aren’t personal training.
UPDATE: Theres a new team that took over late 2017. Theyre far more alert and accommodating. They are accessible and address issues right away. The facility is much cleaner in general and the machines work. Its still a high traffic gym so some things come with the territory. I have two complaints. There isnt constant coverage for the smoothie bar and the staff doesnt seem to enforce anything as far as customer conduct and use of equipment (not sure this is a requirement). Weights are everywhere.Ive been attending this particular location for about 2.5 years. A change in management and staff occurred earlier this year. There are now more broken machines than Ive ever seen. Theyve been down for multiple weeks. When I go at low traffic times the entire gym is still in disarray. Weights are everywhere. Nothing is wiped down. Even at 5 AM opening its not as clean as it could be. Ive had to leave multiple times because I cant use anything. I dont interact with staff much but theyre less attentive than the previous team.Of the five locations Ive been to this is by far the worst. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
Dont care how clean, awesome or well maintained a gym is. If it has low ceiling fans or colder than 50 degrees. It gets one star. This gym has a million fans blowing dirt, dust bunnies and all the bacteria all around. Always feel my allergies going berserk if I stay to long.
2016:I have been using this gym for almost a year. I use the pool most of the time. They have not replaced any of the overhead lights. The pool area is dark and depressing. Please replace the lights. This week I decided I had enough when I got in the pool and the chemicals were so off. It was a nasty swim. I have used LA fitness areas as well and they are not great but not as bad this one.Update 2020:I visited the LA fitness at Atlantic Station for the first time in years. The pool water was clean and temperature just right for lap swimming. I was impressed they managed to balance the chemicals. The gym in general appeared cleaner and updated. Hopefully, the repair will last. I am changing my review from 2 stars to 3.
Giving 3 stars because it improved from the 2018 renovation. However, the pool is still out of service and the basketball court is often close for repairs. I wish there were overall newer and better working machines, and people were not allowed to blast their music so loud i can even hear it through my headphones.
It used be a pretty good gym with large space. However; sadly they downsized the gym to make space for a bowling alley. They still have the same amount of equipments but all smoshed in together. Its a fairly populated gun so it is a little problem now to walk around and stuff. The swimming pool they have is currently under construction either and estimated to be open around may according to the general manager on duty. Upside is they still have the basketball court in three. And ya helpful employees as always.
The pool hasn’t been open for coming up on a year. They told me in January that it would be working in about six weeks, and that they’re manager was never in when I asked for him. I’ve been going here for three years, and the whole gym was closed for six months, only for it to open up to a much worse gym. They should be embarrassed for the quality of product they have put out, and it really sucks I bought my time in bulk. Please take your business elsewhere!!!!Update a month later: still no pool, and the sauna is broken.
Im not an Atlanta native, but the company that I work for is based in Atlantic Station and I come here at least once every month or two, so getting a local gym membership made sense. Im currently a member at a couple of other gym chains in Texas and Ive worked out in all sorts of environments for over 20 years now. Im mid-30s, male and not easily put-off, but this gym is absolutely terrible.Ive been to dirty and unkempt gyms before and sometimes thats OK, its part of the allure - maybe a hardcore lifting facility with no AC for example - that makes sense. What doesnt make sense with this gym is that LA Fitness is a national chain and most every location Ive been to is comparable to other national chains (cleanliness, building, parking, clientele, etc). This LA Fitness is a quandary and they should be embarrassed to have their name associated with it.As other reviewers have mentioned, its just disgusting everywhere and the clientele is some sort of amalgamation of the bizarre and riff-raff, especially at night. Its sad, because you can see many normal people here, especially in the morning hours because its really the only place (national gym) in this area.I wont go near the locker rooms, they are dirty and sometimes a pick-up lounge or at the very least a perv-out-lounge. The floors throughout the gym are wet, mildewed and dirty all of the time. The moisture coming from the pool/hot tub/bathrooms makes it humid, which is magnified in the summer. This adds to the quicker degradation of the equipment, which is all rusted and broken. There is an always present stink of must, mildew and body odor because of all of the aforementioned issues, which is just intolerable sometimes. The staff (sales, service and trainers) are mediocre at best. No one seems to maintain the equipment. Never paper towels and the water fountains are dirty or sprayed down with heavy cleaners, which either way renders them unusable. Weights are left everywhere and never put back, or if they are, usually in the wrong spot. Ive also noticed a lot of the same regulars, that most of the time are in clicks and tend to dominate equipment, much of the time with their phones as well. Cell phones are a problem at any gym, and they are here as well.Ive been coming for ~10 months now and I cant take it any longer, Im going to cancel my membership (which should be a treat, based on other reviews/feedback on the process).
Good variety of equipment and easy to get to, but the people who work out here have no understanding of the concept of putting away weights after they use them. Good on you for lifting over 300 lbs on the bench. I dont feel like cleaning up after you if I want to bench after youre done. Place has weights thrown about all over the floor. Staff need to do a better job enforcing basic rules.
This by far the worse LA Fitness I have been to. Since its located in a prime location I expected way more. The gym has an odor and the air hasnt been working for weeks. Ive been a member for a few years. I love taking my classes because of the instructors. But if it wasnt for them I would have cancelled my membership. Several people have complained about the air. This is ridiculous and needs to be addresses and resolved ASAP!
Nice facility in a uppity part of town. If youre looking for luxury, this might be your location. Even though since Ive had a membership, the pool has been out of service... the basketball court gets intense. It is not for the faint of heart. These guys come out and play out there daily frustrations. Cant be mad though. Basketball is a much better outlet then drugs, violence, or sex. Good for LA Fitness basketball courts for keeping our young men off the streets and focused.
If you are looking for an intense cycle class workout, check out Lorry on the class schedule. Great music (primarily hip hop), and breathtaking (literally) moves on the bike. Theres usually a line of people waiting to sign the list for her class so make sure you get there At Least thirty minutes early to get on the list at the front desk.As far as the facility itself, it is a great location. Atlantic station is in the heart of everything so if you want to work out and then go shower, change and shop or grab lunch you can do that. If you do plan to take a shower, make sure you bring a towel with you because they do not have towels for you.My biggest complaint about this location and the reason why I would only give it a 3 star is because the machines are very old and raggedy. I would think that since this location is in such a well respected and nice area, the gym would have some up to date equipment. I havent been in a while but when I would go to cycle class, the bikes were very raggedy and left a lot to be desired. The elliptical machines are also very run down, used and abused. I would expect more from a gym in this area.If you are looking for eye candy, there is always something to look at here. They have lots of great trainers and you can park for up to 2 hours for free. Overall its an OK place to work out but Ill stick to my gym in Decatur.
Ive been an avid gym goer for 25+ years, and this is by far the worst LA Fitness that Ive ever visited. For clarity, I worked out at Camp Creek for nearly 10 yrs and thought that that gym had the most opportunity out of all the facilities, but man was I wrong. Atlantic Station is the worst LA Fitness in the metro.Whats interesting is that many of the guest comments echo the same sentiments, and it seems to not even matter to management based on minor change. Horrible A/C system, mildew smell, broken machines everywhere, unracked weights all over the gym floor, etc. I refuse to even walk into the mens locker room or the sauna because of all the horror stories Ive heard. For this gym to be in the heart of Atlanta, I would say that its a disgrace to the brand, as well as the members that pay their monthly fee. The staff is non existent most of the time, always on their phones, barely making eye contact. The pool is always leaking onto the carpet, the treadmills are dirty, theres always missing bars from the bench press machines, etc. Shame on management for allowing this to take place. Even if you need to hire a rerack your weight guard, do it! Its worth the investment. You have only 4 bench press stations, why allow people to take the bars off and use them in other capacities? Simple rules/standards like this will make the gym better. It also shows members that you hear any address their concerns.
I love how they remodeled this location! I took a spin class; which by the way, was everything! I received a great workout. I do have one small complaint: the spin room is small and was full. We fogged up the windows and wet up the floors. When the instructor opened the door so we could receive some air; the manager closed the doors and didnt seem to care that we were overheated. None the less, its a great facility.
This La Fitness is relatively small to the others due to the lack of size however it does have a basketball court it deserves one star.Due to covid, I was attempting the cancel my membership but the rep Courtney was extremely disrespectful with the attitude. Trying to cancel is like pulling teeth and when questioned further gives the excuse that he cannot and the operations manager isn’t in.Seriously like a Pro Trump gang trying way to hard to get their votes.
This Facility always have a lack of service. You can never enjoy the pool or hot tub. You always have to go to a suburban area for good service I wonder why. I never do reviews but it’s a all the time thing with la fitness.Anytime fitness is the way to go. If no one will respect your money you should...
Great location for the gym a little bit small most of the equipment works well theres only a few that needs some maintenance and care. I do love the swimming pool and spa Santa is in need of some repair. I still will continue to go to this location as a secondary or backup gym when I can I get to my main gym
Awful gym, worst in the city. Always dirty.. Things break and never get fixed. None of the patrons adhere to normal gyn rules .Weights are never out back, machines are always sweaty, people are always camping on their phones taking up the limited equipment. Bathrooms always smell. I never see any staff trying to do anything to curb these problems. They just let everyone run around f*(&ing things up then wait until closing to out it back together. Worst gyn in Atlanta by a mile. Dont ever go.
This place use to be the go to spot when the customer needed a quick work out or to get it in while in midtown, or the Atlantic Station area. Now with the renovation of Atlantic Station, this place is very limited. For example, it has lost square feet & theres less equipment. I do like the renovation because its looks more alive but with less equipment then the customer is looking lost when it comes to his or her work out. There used to be a wide variety of free weights towards the end, now that space is non existed. It just a few hanging around waiting to get touched. Even the windows that was viewable to the outside street doesnt exist anymore. The only way for sunlight is to go to the customer service desk. Lastly, if you think youre going to have a smoothie before or after your workout then guess again. You will be dreaming till the cows come home.It used to be Spring st had less space not the other way around. Welcome to the gentrification of LA FITNESS ATLANTIC STATION.
BUYER BEWARE! PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!This place is terrible. I only got a membership because I live so close for convenience purposes. The staff is mostly oblivious to all the problems in this place. Locker rooms are on par with a Mexicali jail. You couldnt pay me to use them. Sanitizer dispensers are rarely filled, machines never get fixed, the other members have terrible gym etiquette are just some of the issues here.I spoke to someone at this LA and called their corporate offices about issues and also to get some customer service to lower my rate plan to what I was only needing and refused to get any assistance. This company obviously DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP OR YOUR HEALTH. I cant believe they have a kids zone and some parents use it. DO YOURSELF A SOLID AND NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE.
Example of the type of place this is: Wheelchair bound gym member struggling to navigate around dumbbells and weights strewn about. I notified staff at front desk who clearly could not have cared less. Dirty, disorganized and missing key pieces of equipment. They continue to string members along on when the pool will reopen (its been over 6 months). The renovation did nothing but put a fresh face on an otherwise horrible gym. 2.9 stars with a brand new gym should clue corporate in but apparently not.
I hate this gym I really dont know why I still come to it. The only 2 options you have to do now is cardio or weights, but the weights are always hogged by big guys. Dont count on the pool cause its been closed for almost 2 years straight now. Its cleaner then before but could be cleaner. The convince is its close to home.
They should consider closing this gym down. It used to be good. They did some remodeling so thats why its getting 2 stars. This is a cardio ONLY or upper body ONLY gym. There are only like 4 leg machines and their basic. No lower back equipment and one glute machine. The renovation was a waste because they gum could have stayed the same and it was just fine. They took out a lot of great machines and put other stuff in. Why do you need 20 treadmills? 20 elliptical? 10 cycling bikes when there is a WHOLE room of cycling machines. This gym is a waste of space and time.
Newer does not equal better. I quit going to this gym about a year ago because the equipment was old and rusty. After the recent renovation I decided to go back and give it a chance. The interior is much nicer and they have a lot of new equipment, BUT it is a HUGE downgrade. The space is smaller and about 70% of the gym is cardio/pool/basketball. There is only one squat rack and one calf machine in the entire gym. Compared to before, there are fewer dumbbells, benches, cable machines, squat racks, and a lot of wasted space. Its basically a Planet Fitness now with all of the focus on cardio equipment.
If you join this gym, they will make it nearly impossible to cancel. The only way you can cancel is with their Operations Manager who is a phantom - mysteriously never available. Their contracts have hidden fees, so be sure to read it in its entirety, despite how much the sales person is pushing you to sign, ensuring you theres really nothing to read here. Would not recommend.
When I read the poor reviews about this place last year, I overlooked it because Im of the view that you should not always go by someone elses experience, so I decided I would join and form my own opinion. I have been using this location for a year now. Im sorry, but this is by far the WORST LA Fitness I have ever visited. The gym was not bad, at first, but it was not great. Its gotten worse since the new management team took over. Some of the employees (not all) are unapproachable and rude to the members. The gym is FILTHY and they have the audacity to look annoyed when you let them know about the existing problems - broken equipment; malfunctioning and unclean sauna; filthy locker room; mildewed shower curtains, nasty shower stalls (most of the time). I hate that I have to use this gym but we have no where else to go because none of the office buildings in the Atlantic Station have gyms.
This back in the day was the place to go after they remodel the place they taken out a lot of equipment now its just smal and lots of updated cardio equipment out of all the lafitness this one is very clean and orderly no weigh all over the place ,paper towels in mens room are kept up
EDIT: Changing my review from 1 stars to 3 stars because the fourth issue as stated below was for the most part fixed. Thank you for being more diligent about fixing the stair masters. It is appreciated. This gym is NOT cheap, so my expectations are higher than a Planet Fitness, since this gym is over 3 times the price. (Ive paid $100 upfront for the year at Planet Fitness). However, oddly enough, Planet Fitness has more kinds of machines than this LA Fitness location... Something is not adding up.A few things: where are the kettle bells for people not getting trained? The stair masters are always malfunctioning and under service. As in, more than half of them are broken every single week. They blast the music to the point where I cannot hear my friend next to me nor the music on my headphones. TURN THE MUSIC DOWN. Even when asked to turn the screamo music down (why are they playing that anyway??), I was told that they didnt have the key, and that the gentleman who does have the key wouldnt be present until hours later. Not acceptable. Get a hip adductor machine please. It honestly blows my mind that this gym downsized, has less amenities now, and the price stayed the same.In summary,1) Dont blast the music.2) Dont play screamo genre that no one likes.3) Have the key there at all times so that when the music is blaring, it can be turned down.4) Fix the stair master machines or buy new ones.5) Get kettle bells and a hip adductor machine.Once these things are addressed/any changes occur, I will update this review accordingly.
Wonderful being a member here! Not sure if these other reviews just havent been updated in while, but this location is great! The staff are always smiling and willing to help. In particular, Daren is the reason why I signed up at this gym. If you go in for a tour, ask for him; I cannot exaggerate his professionalism and kindness.
Undocumented fees and terrible pricing. l tried to cancel by phone and they said I needed to come into the physical location if I wanted to cancel. Im sorry, what year is it?? I have to come to see you face to face to cancel? Never doing business with this company again.Update: Like I said, I called them to cancel and they told me they simply cant do that over the phone, even though I travel for work during the week and am not in town. So I went in over the weekend to try and cancel and they told me the person who does cancellations only works during the week. So I went after work during the week to cancel and they told me, you need to come in during business hours on a weekday to cancel. Finally I was able to come in on a Friday, during business hours, and the girl at the front desk cancelled my membership in under a minute. They lied to my face over and over, just to keep me as a customer a little longer. Making it extremely difficult to cancel is NOT a good way to retain customers.
It is a city gym, if you want space and nicer equipment go the one by Lenox. Child care is great there. They covered up the windows, people used to be able to see you work out. And as stated in reviews below, the weights are just left everywhere and the staff is pretty careless.
Most of the LA fitness locations in Atlanta are excellent. But not this one. Not clean. Disorganized free weights. People dont re-rack their weights. I dont know if this is the managements fault or the members that go there. Advice: go to the Midtown location. It is much better.
The machines are filthy, the women’s sauna is never cleaned, I know this because I look over the same piece of trash each week...and it smells awful. And although I paid my membership for the year, I almost didn’t use it because of the trainer with the dreads who tried to force me into signing up for a trainer when I was very clear I was not interested. His tactics were so aggressive, I honestly contemplated calling corporate. Long story short, don’t join.
I used to be an LA Fitness member but quit about 18 months ago because the Atlantic Station gym was in such deplorable condition. Judging from its most recent reviews, nothing has changed. Its still crowded, dirty and filled with broken equipment. Its too bad. I was hoping things had improved.
They dont run the air conditioners in the mornings so its a harder workout and stuffy with pool chlorine smell in the main areas. Its also completely carpeted, which is just gross in any gym environment. Staff at the front is mediocre. Ive only been a few times because I hate it so much there despite being an avid gym rat at my old gym. Im definitely shopping around for a new one once I get familiar with the area (just moved here). Oh and for kicks check out the encounters section of craigslist and type in la fitness...the amount of sexual encounters going on on the mens locker room is appalling. The womens locker room is disgusting too but not sex.
I go to a gym solely for its weights, anyone who signs up for a gym for anything other than its weights then you will be disappointed. The weights can be clean, dirty, doesnt matter. I dont expect anything else from gyms like this or youll be disappointed. As long as this place has weights that go up to 150lbs. This place is part of a poor part of town so of course quality of workers and cleanliness will be sub par. Thats what comes with poor neighborhoods.
I have been frequenting this gym since Jan 2013, since I have become a member I have seen many managers, trainers, sales persons come and go. This is by far the worst L.A. Fitness I have ever been to, between the pool flooding every other week, the strong odor throughout the gym, and the consistent failure of equipment, it has made it unbearable to be a member of L.A. Fitness. Today however took the cake, I work-out every day on my lunch as I conveniently work in the BB&T building at the front of Atlantic Station. After my workouts I always take a shower, my routine goes as such: go into locker room, turn on water to get warm, change out, take a shower, head back to work…..well today I was in for a surprise, when I got back to the shower de-robed and hopped into the shower to my surprise the water was ICE cold. As I mentioned I had to return to work, which made it impossible to not take a shower. As I took this ICE cold shower and conversed with the other woman that had the same experience I became angered being as though I spend $39.99 a month for my membership, and there was ABSOLUTELY NO communication on the issue with hot water. I go dressed, and as I walked out I stopped by the front desk and asked the two men at the front if they were aware the hot water was not working, the Manager of the L.A. Fitness in Atlantic Station (Member Service) Blake J. stated “still?” I said yes, there was a little part of me hoping that he did not know that there was an issue, however his response confirmed he did, he stated it was supposed to be fixed 20 mins ago, which leads me to believe that they never sent someone of their staff to go and check to make sure the issue was resolved. The other guy stated, “I am sorry,” while Blake stated with MUCH attitude “No we did not know.” I am strongly contemplating ending my membership with this gym as it is progressively getting worst, and the staff have ZERO people’s skills.
The gym and equipment itself are pretty good. Ive not used the pool. The class coaches and trainers are the worst. Horrible attitudes! Ask one simple question and immediately get the bitchiest response...if you arent in their class. They would rather take time away from their client or class to berate you instead of giving a simple yes or no.
If you’ve been to prison before..you’ll feel right at home here. Although this gym probably isn’t quite as nice .Weights never reracked, weights missing the majority of the time, AC either completely broken or barely functional to about 85 degrees, sweat and scum all over everything, locker room smells like Jeffrey Dahmer’s basement, and rude “workers” who act like acknowledging you between text messages is a hassle. It’s by far, without a doubt, the absolute worst excuse for a gym I’ve visited in my life. The fact that they ask us to pay money to risk contracting MRSA from this biological hazard site is amazing.
Ive been going here for over a year now, purely out of convenience since I live nearby. Ive worked out an average of 4-5 days a week for around 10 years now and have been a member to many gyms—over half were LA Fitness locations. This one is easily the most atrocious in every category I can think of.First off, it always smells and there are regular leaks that leave half of the carpeted area drenched. About once a month when that happens, you can expect to add mildew to the list of smells youll encounter at rush hour. When you reach the heart of the cardio area, youll notice the air becomes heavier with BO and the humidity makes the smell that much harder to handle.Ive always been a big advocate of telling my friends who are intimidated by public gyms that its really not bad. But I dont bring my friends here as guests who are easily intimidated. There is more ass silicone than muscle mass under this roof. Half of the machines are being used for something other than what they are intended for—usually texting. Ask if you can actually use the machine at your own risk. Even if its one of the employees, since half the gym is reserved for people who pay extra for personal training and they always get preference. Weights are never racked. Paper towels are rarely stocked (especially on weekends). Machines stay broken for weeks. The water fountains are wiped with some kind of cleaner that leaves them smelling like paint thinner. Theres always one token guy in the free weight section at rush hour who has reserved out all of the dumbbells between 5-20 pounds and demands hes using them all before he goes back to texting. There is zero enforcement of any kind of basic gym etiquette, which means youll have to be kind of aggressive if you want to complete an actual working in a reasonable amount of time. The basketball court is pointless, if its not closed for some kind of maintenance in the first place. If youre expecting to come here to casually shoot around or play a pick up game, it wont happen. This basketball court is more like an extension of a high school courtyard. Everyone is dressed in their best swag, holding the balls off court while they play on their phones. Look out for the token guy with one of those white hover boards that are popular on Vine.I brought an ex girlfriend here and it felt like walking into a cage of abused pit bulls with a slab of meat, except the pit bulls are wannabe mr steal ya girls. For the record, no one stole anything from me other than my faith in humanity.
I was visiting with a friend and was considering switching over from crunch but changed my mind once I got the experience and vibe from this place the trainer with the dreds was super rude to my friend and it didn’t have to be that way. The environment is very dull and boring. I won’t be switching from crunch anytime soon. Plus parking is out of the way.
Wow, this place is utterly disgusting! The pool area is comparable to a roach infested, condemned section 8. There is practically no lighting up there (you have to go upstairs to this creepy, dark room) and it looks like its from the 1970s and they are just about to board it up. The hot tub is derelict and grungy. My guess is it hadnt been cleaned in months. I got in the hot tub and there was a LARGE amount of dark grey/brown foam and thick, slimy pieces of debris floating in all corners. Im not talking about the normal hot tub foam either. This was pure filth. The hot tub itself is in poor condition with pieces of concrete chipped off everywhere and very unsafe. I quickly went to the showers to wash off as I was completely DISGUSTED. Upon entering the shower I found a used tampon on the floor and hair ALL over the walls. I have never been so grossed out in my entire life, I will not be returning to this gym ever. I cant believe LA fitness has the audacity to put their name on this facility. It seriously makes me reconsider my membership.
Aerobics closed. Free weights clised. Half the floor space for machines gone. Hot tub closed. Pool closed. If you want free babysitting, a spin class room or a basketball court; or to wait for a machine....this is your place. They didnt ask me, but they should take out 8 signup desks leaving 2 and put machines there. Please dont come here, I cant breathe in here as it is. I think not counting the closed areas this is the smallest gym i have been to.
Friendly staff and a much better set up & equipment since the renovation. I’ve been personal training with Bryan twice a week which is going great. Zumba with Drea is an absolutely blast on Sunday’s. Would love to see an on site nutritionist to work through kitchen habits along the journey as well.
As with most LA fitness memberships, cancelling your contract is near impossible. Just go ahead and ignore any of the methods listed in your agreement; the only way to do it is to go in and tell the staff to cancel the contract in person, then to complain until they give you a confirmation of cancellation, THEN call the corporate HQ to make sure they are no longer billing your account.Even then you are not guaranteed safe. I kid you not, I have had a sales rep from this gym say to me: If you do not purchase one more month of membership, we will simply continue to bill your account until you pay us. They are trained to not let you leave, like Comcast. I know this is old news to anyone who has gone to this chain before, but just keep this in mind before you sign up.
The gym is usually packed, and you end up having to wait a lot for equipment. The bathrooms smell foul, like a porter potty on a hot summer day that has been well used. The worst of it is then when I tried to cancel, they give two options: Go in to a location and ask them to cancel, but what they dont tell you is there is only ONE person that can cancel for you, and that person is rarely available (I made two trips and he wasnt there either time). The next options is by going on their website, creating a profile, then printing out a request and MAILING IT IN!!! In 2014 this is absurd, they clearly want to make it as hard a possible to cancel so they can keep milking you for your membership fees. This is a shady and poorly managed company and im sorry I ever got involved with them.
What a shame to have a gym so close but is so horrible. I wouldnt expect LA Fitness has anyone monitoring social media as they cannot even seem to even replenish amenities or properly clean their facility. Good luck LA fitness. There are too many options to put up with a garbage business like this.
I have recently lost my debit card that I use to pay for my membership and have ordered another one. Since that time my billing for the past 7 days have been declined because of the lost card. I went to the gym tonight and was told that It was notated that I was declined to workout. Well I thought that was odd because this happened before I updated the card in a couple of weeks and everything was ok.... When I called in to the billing line they were surprised themselves.... i have recently told the local gyms not to call me, because they call every 10minutes.... to the point of harassment When I went back to the gym to speak to the so called manager travis he was incredibly rude implying that I should have brought in cash and that I dont pay my bills..... ??? and was very nasty with his attitude... I promptly removed my membership card and told them that I will no longer need their membership .... the young lady at the desk was rude and seemingly very uninterested in her job and the manager was very condescending and insulting.... if this is your customer service... i see why people have repeatedly advised me against atlantic station gym ..... I will never put myself through that for 30.00???? I have multiple car payments of over 3000.00 a month and Im being questioned about how I pay a 30.00 gym membership????? seriously ??? and to be soooo rude...... LA Fitness has one thing positive and that size and locations.... but besides that customer service belongs in the dumps..... and btw I used to own a collection agency in NC calling someone repeatedly all through out the day and multiple times in a short period of time is just straight out harassment I should have documented it instead of telling them not to call and taught them a valuable lesson on fcpa collections practices fines..... .Good Luck if you choose to call these gyms home......... You would do good to look twice before deciding on this one..... because at this point I will never go back and they are sure to never get another dime from me...... good luck
The equipment is poorly maintained and the CDC would probably be interested in the amount rust on all of their machines. Its unacceptable but unfortunately is the most convenient location for me. There are plenty of Atlanta area ls fitness locations that are properly maintained but NOT this one.
Something is gravely wrong with this places air conditioning and they do not seem interested in fixing it. The free weights section is larger than other Midtown-area L.A. Fitnesses, so its my go-to gym, but it is miserably hot. There is A.C. near the front desk, but it goes up about 20 degrees by the time you get to the back of the place.
This location has the worst customer service I have experienced in my life. Sexist employees that treat you like you’re dumb when they don’t bother to answer your question about yearly fees. Cancelling and going to planet fitness where it’s cheaper and the people are WAY nicer.
I had to wait for 40’ before I was given a tour of the facilities - and they wouldn’t let me take a quick look without being escorted. While I was waiting, a number of employees were just staying around doing nothing and laughing like crazy. Really not a great customer service - and they just lost a potential client.

2022-03-04I am so happy that I joined LA Fitness because it has other branch facilities all over the city. This particular one is a tad smaller than others but the equipment is cutting-edge and efficiently focuses on the muscle groups that you want to work on. Otherwise, the facility is clean and laid out nice. The patrons are a diverse mix and the staff is friendly!

2022-05-11Great location next to the Regal in Atlantic Station.Free 2 hour underground parking provided by Atlantic Station and convenient to walk to the gym from there.Equipment is subpar.I know this branch has been there for quite a while but management doesnt really care about the equipment or maintenance. I mean the Leg extensions equipment had two holes in there. Not thoroughly maintained. Few staff members are good whole rest of them dont really bother.Patrons are a mixed age groups. Pool is closed whenever I was there. There are group training sessions everyday. The basketball court is the most used in the whole gym.If youre a new member, Id recommend to take a look in person before you sign up.

2022-02-17I have been attending this location for some weeks. I took a friend once they had her sign a form and told me that if she would come again she did not have to register again. I have done this at other locations no issue. Today 02/17/2022, I got at this location at Atlantic Station like at 5:30. I waited for my friend and as I was scanning my QR code and telling the lady that was at the front desk she interrupted me and told me I will be with you soon. She was taking care of a new member explaining plans and things. I had to be at a place at 7pm so I said excuse me can I tell you something real quick she rudely and without looking at me said “ I will take care of you when I’m done with her” . At this point my friend was getting irritated by the way this lady was treating us. She took her time, finished and I was like “listen I was trying to explain that she had already signed the sheet last time…” she interrupted me again and told me “she has to sign again do you have your or with you?” My friend left her wallet in the car so we told her no. She said that without ID she should not be able to register. My friend got tired and decided to leave and not workout. I decided to do the same because this was non sense. All the disrespect, rudeness… Two people did not work out because somebody at the front desk was not having a good day. While all this is happening there is another lady sitting right behind at the counter and she is doing nothing to help resolve this situation. All this money I paid initiation fee monthly fee, to have this type of experience? It’s unfair. Costumer service is key at any company. And the costumer service of these ladies were on the floor. It could not be worst. I hope action is taken

2021-03-18I’ve visited 8 different LA Fitness locations in the Metro Atlanta area and this one is by far, the worst. The staff are rude and dismissive and the pool is abysmal. I got a membership specifically to use the pool, but I quickly learned that members aren’t required to wear masks indoors. I figured I’d be ok just going directly to the pool and leaving; the pool is usually empty. I got my membership Nov 2020 and by December I had COVID and got pretty sick.It amazes me how a large chain like LA Fitness can’t pay a cleaning service to professionally do a deep clean and do things like remove the mildew from the shower tiles. The place is cramped.I’m giving a 1 Star primarily based on my experience with the pool (photos attached), and the dismissive staff members. Oh, and I haven’t seen the hot tub work since Nov 2020, It’s March 2021 and every other LA Fitness in the metro area has operating hot tubs.

2022-06-04I use this location for no other reason that its close to home. It is by far the smallest la fitness and least kept in the metro Atlanta area. I travel around Atlanta for work and have worked out at every la fitness within an hour of the city. Its not even close to the rest of the locations. Its half the size, half the equipment and very poorly run. If I have the time Ill drive to brookehaven, Decatur or La Vista locations even though I can walk to this one. Lawrenceville off 120, Buford and Jonesboro are my favorites. One squat rack, two benches and very few cable attachments. Maybe a dozen treadmills. They have a row machine thats been broke for 6 months. The staff is in need of an entire overhaul. They only clean unnecessary things. Its obvious they are just trying to stay busy not do good work. They have a problem with people in the basketball court gambling on games and bringing bags into the gym. Apparently somebody pulled a gun on someone over gambling but thats just the rumor. To remedy this they just turn the lights off and close the court. Why dont they just blackball the trouble and let the rest of us enjoy what we pay for?The trainers bring speakers and play profane music throughout the gym while training clients. Once the clients leave they (loudly) body shame them. All of that being said, its STILL the best gym in the Atlantic station area. The only competition is cross fit and workout anytime. Once something else opens this location will go broke. I HOPE they get it together before then.

2021-12-18The staff is amazing. Here’s what’s HORRIBLE:1. If you stay over 2 hours you have to pay $4+.2. The basketball court is ALWAYS packed3. Their sauna isn’t working. Hasn’t been for at least a month4. The signage in the garage is HORRIBLE. You’ll waste some of your 2 free parking hours just LOOKING for parking. For the money I pay ALL Of this can be fixed.

2022-03-28This location needs to focus on cleanliness because the locker room is horrible and the gym equipment needs to be wiped down more often. Come on LA FITNESS... you can do better than what you are doing.

2021-11-03I will rate only the pool, sauna, hot tub, and changing rooms, since that what I used at this location. I have to say, I was very disappointed, but I would like to start with the most positive, which is that everything seemed clean and the people at the front were nice and helpful. The pool walls and bottom had these dark spots that I am hoping are from rust, though why there is metal in the pool cement surface, I dont know. Have not seen a pool with so many spots and several of them were above the water line. I dont think it was dirt or mold, since the outside walls and floor looked pretty clean. The ceiling though had quite a few issues and a couple of spots that looked like parts of the ceiling already fell down into the pool and several more areas that looked like they might fall any moment. Thankfully, it did not happen when I was there. Oh, and the temperature in the pool area was higher than in other pools Ive been at, including at least 4 other LA Fitness locations. The hot tub did not work, it was covered and I did not see a sign with any information. When I asked for directions to the pool at the front desk, they did not tell me about it and since they were otherwise very helpful, I think they not have even known. The sauna was kept at such low temperature that it took over 10 min to get to the regular temperature of 180. Again, first time experiencing this at any gym with a sauna. Furthermore, the clock on the wall did not work, so good luck figuring out how much time you were in, unless you brought in your phone and thought to use it as a timer. Otherwise it seemed clean. The showers... Somebody thought it is a good idea to put shower curtains with clear windows in them... at breast level. Yep, I am 54 and my nipples were a little below the window, but anybody walking by, could have seen them by glancing in my direction. Well, at least your lower half is protected 🤣 good thing I grew up not too shy about my body. The gym itself seemed cl an, but I did not use it, so I cant say more about it.
