Landmark Hospital is a wonderful place to have your loved one. My wife was at Landmark for 2 months and received the best care I could have hoped for. Doctor Michael and Doctor Sagel were both caring and excellent doctors. The specialty doctors for Pulmonary and Infectious Disease especially Doctor Coleman and Doctor Lovell were excellent. The CEO Marie Saylor made a point to make sure we were satisfied with the care and the process of making decisions.Everyone on the staff, including doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and nursing technicians listened to the family and worked very closely with us to make sure my wife received the care that we wanted her to have. That day to day care was great and the staff excelled at what they did on a daily basis.Do not get me wrong, there were times when we discussed and consulted on the direction we should be taking for my wife to get well and go home. She had a few serious setbacks that were dealt with in a professional manner always looking out for the best interest of my wife, while listening to what the family wanted. We left Landmark in a much better situation than when we came to Landmark, and my wife continues to improve based on the care she received at Landmark. i would thoroughly recommend Landmark especially for Pulmonary issues. The care here is first rate and we felt they really cared about the outcome to be the best for the patient. Thanks Landmark staff!
I was really worried when I had to find a LTAC for my husband. I went to see one close to where we live and it was horrible. I did research and found out several who knew ones who had worked there. I stayed every night with my husband with his mom and siblings stayed during the day. From day one of my husband arriving here, I noticed how clean the place is and how friendly they were to us. Dr Sagle is great doctor, as were respiratory, nurses and techs! I am very thankful to them getting my husband off the vent and ready to go home in 23 days! I will definitely recommend this place to any family that needs a place for a family member to go!
I cant say enough about this place. A good friend of mine was A patient here a few months back. She was very ill and we have almost given up hope. We wanted to give her more time to get off the breathing machine so they sent her to landmark. We read the reviews and to be honest we were nervous, but when we got here It wasnt at all like we were reading. The staff was so nice and the doctors were always there to ask questions. My friend got better and was sent to a rehab facility. I am so glad that we sent her because I got my friend. It is a long road ahead but well worth it. If you have an option of going, take it. Not everything you read is true. Thank you landmark staff!!
My father was a recent patient at landmark after suffering a stroke. The nurses and Doctors were very compassionate and knowledgeable. He spent over 3 weeks there and was able to go to an acute rehab. It takes very special people to work there. Thank you Landmark staff for taking care of my dad!
So I have read all of these reviews, and for the most part they are spot on. A year ago this facility was lacking but has done a complete 180 in terms of stepping up their game. I have had my husband and mother in law in Landmark for a total of 6 lengthly visits. My mom in law is still there and is getting top notch care even though she is a difficult case with many illnesses. The nurses and case management have come together to give both my mom and husband excellent care. I wouldn’t trust any other long term care facility in Georgia to take care of my loved one! Thank you Landmark❤️
I havent always been the easiest patient to deal with and Landmark felt my presence the first go around. So much so, they refused me service the 2nd time I applied to go there. Fortunately, they eventually allowed me to come back. Ive been a patient there at least 4-5 times since they opened. Each visit was better than the last and each visit I matured. My last visit, discharged date 11-27-2018, was the best one yet. As usual, they were nice and did theyre best to accommodate me. This time was different. I really felt like they went above and beyond this time. To me, whos used to be in hospitals, it was like a pleasant vacation in which I came out healthier than I went in.
Worse medical facility yet. They contributed to the death of my loved one. The nurses lack not only the skills to help the patient but also the knowledge and empathy. The old nurse who is supposed to be a nurse manager on days needs to be terminated for all she does is gossip about the patients and the families in the hallways with the Medical Director. There are certain procedures only an RN can complete yet they employ LPNs. The nurses are lazy and incompetent and I had to give all the care myself or my loved one would go without. They totally disregarded physicians orders on all levels. No patient aides most of the time and the nurses all talk about the management team and how horrible they are. Social services were of no help along with the attending physician. Wound care was a joke and those nurses should be terminated also for they know nothing when it comes to the healing of the wounds and they do not even attend to the patient. Respiratory is also just as bad for they are heartless. The Director of Nursing does not know up from down and her staff talk about her excessive drinking and that she is useless. I could go on and on. All of the staff should be suspended and their license revoked. Please do not admit your loved one to this facility. The Corporate Compliance Officer refused to meet with me to discuss these concerns. Instead, she hid behind emails which I am glad to share with anyone. I am so glad the CEO was finally fired just took losing a life to do. It also amazes me the Corporate compliance refused to meet with me and I can show you the emails from her and also how Doctor William K. Kapp III, the Founder, Chairman/CEO refused to discuss this matter. Landmark needs to be shut down for good. Please the owners response is totally untrue. I did return a call to the the regional operations and he totally blew me off. I also have in emails the responses from their corporation in which they refused to meet and discuss the issues with me. Glad to share these emails anytime with anyone.
I appreciate all of my nurses, techs, Doctors, Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, and everyone else at this hospital. They are very nice, helpful, and friendly. Whenever I have needed someone they are there quickly. Im very appreciative of everyone here. Thank you. God bless you all.
The administration will lie to you and ask you to sign blank forms to get you in there. The nurses station is staffed by people the could care less about you. Dr.s, nurses, and therapists are great. For five days in a row, a poor old man came into my room looking for his long lost nail clippers. I dont know how the food actually keeps you alive. I think a five year old makes it on her barbie kitchen set. The billing/insurance department is an absolute disgrace. I would not recommend Landmark to anyone.
This is the WORST hospital Ive ever had experience with! DO NOT allow a loved one to EVER step foot in this hospital. They tell you this is the only rehab hospital in the North Georgia area that specializes in getting patients off the trach. This is partially true, but I have since found out that there is a much better hospital in Greenville, SC that would be an option. Trust me, it would be worth the extra distance to ensure your loved one is taken care of. Landmark hospital allowed my paralyzed dad to hang off the bed all night with him yelling for help. They allowed his bowels to get backed up to a dangerous level. But the WORST thing they did was allow him to get awful bedsores that he is still struggling with 7 months later. Dad NEVER should have gotten sores to this extent. The doctors and nurses are extremely rude and act as if they could care less about their patients. I cant begin to explain the extent of the neglect and negative attitudes from doctors, nurses, and administration. If you do find that your loved one has to go here, please please make sure they turn him/her every 2 hours, and make sure someone stays with them the entire time they are there. They try to tell you they do not have enough room or a chair suitable for sleeping. DO NOT listen to them. Bring in a cot! They just dont want you there knowing how they treat their patients!!
My husband was there for a month. With the exception of the doctors the care was very poor. When we complained they argued with us and tried to blame everything on my husband who had just spent 8 weeks in another hospital due to complications from surgery. He was almost total care and was confused at times due to being in the hospital so long and due to being so weak. Some of the night nurses were passive aggressive. He became scared of the night staff. They often came in the room at night looking like they had just woke up. They frequently either didnt answer call lights or took a very long time to answer. The food was disgusting. He lost a lot of weight. I would never
Sadistic nurse practitioner Kaelyn Will be what I remember most from this place. The food is absolutely inedible-not nearly as good as a school lunches in the 1960s. Half of the place doesn’t have air-conditioning, and it feels like a nursing home. On the bright side the techs and 99% of the nurses are great.
I dont know why they are not getting higher reviews, but this is the best place for mom. Why??? Because they listen ...Nurses here dont have attitudes and are very attentive and knowledgeable. I get to visit during Coronavirus outside a large window every day. I pull up a chair and talk to my mom on a phone. This is a lot better than Skype and Facetime. Mom is healing faster when she physically sees me and I feel better when I physically see her...if I could give this place an extra star, I would.
This place is horrid! I would not send anyone to this place. The nurses and staff could care less about you. A family member stayed all day and night with me. They HAD to because of the lack of care this place provides. They dont give you your meds on time, cant seem to get a bed pan when needed, leave you on said bedpan for 30+ minutes, bad attitude and rudeness from nurses and staff. My mom pretty much is the one that took care of me (bathed me, kept my hair clean, etc...). They would come in and would not even offer to help her. We even had to keep schedule of meds and times they were given because they would not come at the appropriate time and then claim we were lying about the times the meds were given. Seriously! Their lack of empathy and care is uncalled for. Also, the majority of the nurses there are from an agency because they cant even keep the place staffed. Please, if you care about yourself and your loved ones, you do not want to send them here. Im speaking from experience!
My experience here was over 2yrs ago for the latest stay & about 5ish for the first stay (that I knew of)Ive had my grandma, great-aunt, and aunt (furthermore called patients) all have to stay here after they were in ICU for awhile. The staff seemed like they were stretched a bit thin but they seemed ok while we were there & they let someone from my family stay with whomever was the patient at that time. The patients, with exception of my aunt who has down syndrome (bc she loves and adores everyone & has never complained about anything bc all new experiences are just amazing to her) but someone from family was with her every minute they were allowed to be there, and they all liked the staff and had nice things to say. One nurse even knew my great-aunt enough to joke about her lotto scratcher fixation. So there had to be some conversational interaction. The reviews Ive read so far have made me think that maybe my patients were at a different facility. Im sorry that the other reviewers had bad experiences, and Im sure the facility in SC is better but I think they unfortunately had some neglectful nurses when they were or they had a family member admitted there and truly I hope if thats the case then the nurses have been fired & punished accordingly for the neglect they had towards them or the family members of the other reviewers. My patients, as well as I, had a good experience overall no bedsores or real complaints. The only thing that either of us really had to complain about was how it was always freezing there. Any of my family that spent every minute they could there, with my down syndrome aunt, said they were treated with respect while there and my aunt was treated the same. I know this was a lot and Im not discontinuing the other reviewers, Im just saying my experiences here were completely different & I hope that the Landmark staff have seen these reviews and made adjustments (firing/retraining) where needed and hopefully turned up the thermostat. Lol. The only reason I didnt give 5 star was I have only seen it from a visitors view & not as a patient. I hope to keep out of there but if Im ever a patient there Ill adjust my rating. May all who took time to read all this & even those that didnt have a blessed: morning, afternoon, day, evening, or night depending on when you read this.
Surprised by the negative comments here. Have a family member there today and her care and treatment has been excellent and staff are attentive and professional in every way. Hope this level of care continues for the remainder of our stay. If it changes for the worse I will update my review but so far we are happy for having moved our family member from another hospital to this one.
My son was at Landmark for about six weeks. He had a trachectomy and was on ventilator when admitted. They helped him to come off ventilator and trachectomy was removed. He received excellent care. It was a very clean facility. The staff are very efficient and friendly.
This place is a joke. I would not put my dog in this hospital. Dr.Anthony Sagel which is the hospitalist is not even board certified. For this acuity you would think you would need somebody that is board certified. The nurses and techs are amazing and took great care of my family however administration does not care about anybody or anything at this hospital.
When I would visit my friend before she passed away I witnessed very poor sanitation. The nurse would leave clothes with feces on it on the mattress . At times you would wonder when the bathed her last . They were nice enough but I would not take a family member or friend here .
Wonderful Hospital, my mother was approved for this facility after the local hospital wasnt able to help her any further. She excelled here. Every employee was patient and very knowledgeable in critical care. When she left after a month she looked and felt better than she had in ten years. Thank you Landmark Athens GA.
Dr. Siegels and Dr. Michaels was great .one night shift nurse Chris really stands out he went above and beyond his job wish more like him. Christoper /Chris / thanks for being so good an caring. My husband was there almost 3 weeks. Thanks for great care..my husband name William
Zero stars is more like it. This place is horrible. Doctors are rude, nursing staff treats patients horribly. My sister is bedridden with an open wound in her stomach, she called the nurse for a bedpan but never got one, ended up having an accident and the nurse told her she wasnt cleaning her up, then she refused to give her her night meds. Working on getting her out of this hell. Formal complaint coming up. If you care at all DO NOT send your loved ones here.
No stars. My dad was basically killed here. Staff is AWFUL! Rude! They gave my dads dialysis treatment to another patient the day his was due, and that patient wasnt even due for one. His kidney function went way down after that and sadly, he passed away. Awful, Awful experiences here!
No hospital can get five stars but this one does fairly good. They do not fix the problem per say just diagnose it which can be a would of benefit sometimes. As in my case. Took over a month to see but seems to be perfectly fixable. Ow yeah, they do the patient care part that lets a person get to the point where they can fix it.
I was a patient here 2 years ago, and things have really went down hill from then. The managing staff dont seem to want to hear the truth. If you tell them something is wrong, theyll try to turn it around and try to put the blame on the patient. The food is actually good.but the head staff is the biggest problem here.
I can’t say enough good things about Landmark Hospital. I’ve been employed here for almost 10 years and have stayed so long because of the wonderful work and support that’s provided for critically ill patients and their families. It’s a great hospital and a huge asset to the commmunity.
Dont be fooled by the reviews posted by employees to mask that this is a horrible place for patients. This place was severely understaffed, when complaints are issued the lady in charge of the place comes to blatantly lie to your face. The social worker looks like she is lost any time she gets asked about different facilities. I had the worst experience with my father at this place and wouldnt want anyone I care about to come here!
This place is a joke. Constant OSHA violations, the CEO is a drunken idiot but because shes a cheap alternative to a real CEO she is kept in that position. HR is a joke too, shes so stupid that when they fire the CEO shell be fired as well. No supplies, people quit there constantly because of the horrible working conditions...If you think Im joking...apply to work here..then count the days until you get the hell out of there screaming. Dont say you werent warned...STAY CLEAR!!!!

2021-12-31I can’t say enough good things about Landmark. My husband was there for thirty days. In that thirty days alone they had taken out his trachea and had him eating food, they did therapy with him every day, and they even got him out in the beautiful sunshine for a spin in his wheel chair. I can’t say enough about the Doctors and nurses that work there. I was kept informed at all times and never felt like I was driving them crazy with things. Not once did I walk in and find my husband dirty, they even gave him a bath daily. My sweet man has now passed to be with his Lord, but I can honestly say it wasn’t from a lack of patience or kindness on Landmarks behalf. I have recommended them and only them to anyone that needs this type of facility. Thank you Landmark for caring for my sweet, beautiful man. Thank you for treating him like he was a person and not just a number. I will forever be grateful for your kindness. After reading some of these reviews, I wonder to myself how could I have such an amazing experience. My husband was at many other facilities and if you want to talk about poor conditions, we can go there. He had three bed sores on his backside and even his ear was covered in a scab. I feel he passed away because of another hospital. So please know for almost two years I lived in and out of hospitals with my husband. Once again, I can’t say enough good things about Landmark. By far they are the best facility. I had my doubts in the beginning, as anyone would with their loved one, because of all these bad reviews, but then I was reminded that generally people only take the time to write the bad reviews but never the good and I am so thankful I took a chance on them.Sincerely,Elaine Babson

2021-12-22My mother was at landmark Hospital 10/20/21-11/12/21 for ventilator/tracheostomy weaning after being in ICU for weeks fighting covid. I have nothing but positive things to say about this Hospital, from the start they answered all my questions and concerns that I had. While my mother was there she always had wonderful nurses and techs there. The following names are the people who were apart of the team who took care of my mother; Nurse Allison, Shawn, Renee, Karla, and Tiffiany. Tech; Kay and Tamela. CRT’s; Maurey and Kou. Pulmonologist doctor; Eduardo Martinez. Dr.Anthony and social worker Becky were very helpful at the time of discharge, they made sure my mother went home with everything that was needed. In health care things are never going to be perfect especially in these times, but the staff took care of my mom with love, patience, and compassion. We will always be thankful for the great care this hospital provided for my Mom. Truly made her and us feel safe in this hard journey after she battled Covid. We continue to pray for the medical staff, for the lord to bless them because it’s a hard time era we are going through.

2021-11-30Mission was accomplished - Dad was able to come off of the respirator and leave Landmark to go to a rehab hospital, but there were times when Dad soiled his bed and it would be hours before they tended to him. Once my mother had to clean the dried crud off of his behind. Our biggest complaint was lack of communication. When Dad was in ICU we were getting updates three times a day. At Landmark, the doors were locked before visiting hours and the doctors were all gone when family arrived with questions.

2022-06-16I was here from 1/13/21 to 1/26/21 to be weaned from the vent after being in a coma for a month due to covid. I wish I could remember the names of each of the people that took such good care of me.

2018-01-28My experience @ Landmark was almost 6 years ago. I was there for a month after being in ICU @ St. Marys Hospital for 2 weeks. My wound care person was very good - knowledgeable & personable. My doctor there was very compassionate & easy to talk to, but she moved out of the country before my stay was over. The Director (title?) took over & his bedside manner wasnt great but he did give me the motivation I needed to work @ getting better. The nurses & aides...some were awful, some were tolerable, some were very good. I had a new colostomy & some of them acted like it was beneath them to deal w/that. The physical therapists were really sweet & encouraging. I couldnt do much at all -It was a big deal for me to sit up on the side of the bed - but they helped & cheered me on, gave assistance with bathing & helped me wash my hair. My best friend was allowed to spend the night w/me my 1st night there, & my husband was there with me every day. My stay there was fine but, then again, I had many regular visitors so a lot of eyes were on the staff. I did get better & was able to go back to St. Marys for rehab after my month was up @ Landmark.

2020-12-18My mom would haves passed without this hospital. Dr. Tony was on top of her care the whole time she was there. She was there for well over a month.. almost didn’t make it several times. Every time something was going on I got a phone call. I was kept in the loop the entire time. There was always someone there to answer my questions. The one on one care was absolutely amazing!!! During this time of the year I am extremely grateful I still have my mom. Thank You Dr. Tony and all your staff.

2019-10-12Despite a difficult illness by a family member, our family had an exceptionally positive experiece with each and every Landmark employee. What a blessing they were - from the outstanding Respiratory therapists like Jennifer and Koa to our excellent physicians, Dr. Mathew and Dr. Butt, as well as precious, compassionate, nurses like Joy, Amanda, Amber, Henry, and professional, hardworking techs like Shannon and Joshua....and so many other wonderful employees that I cannot remember all their names but I clearly remember their caring, gentle hearts! The cleaning staff were warm and friendly too! I give Landmark Hospital my highest recommendation . They provided high quality, personalized care. Our family is extremely grateful.

2018-06-20Landmark is an excellent facility for wound care, vent management, and IV antibiotic therapy. Having worked here for almost 10 years, I know our physicians, nurses, techs, and the rest of the ancillary staff work very hard to provide the best care possible to our patients. The average stay of a patient in our facility, varies case by case, but is about 3-4 weeks. When caring for patients and their families that long, they almost feel like part of your own family. The most rewarding part of my job is watching a patient come to our facility almost on death’s door and watching them walk out or move on to the next phase of care. It is truly an inspiration to know that our team can make a difference in so many lives.

2021-11-13They were mean to me. Would get upset if I messed on myself and I couldnt help it. Didnt want to bathe me like they were pose to. I have emotional problems and flashbacks of my stay there is been going on 1 1/2 years and Im laying here crying about it now. They would put me on the potty pot and leave me and I was very weak. I could go on and on. But I wont. I wouldnt take my dog there.
