I found this shop just driving through town. It is just a little sandwich shop in an historical old house in Ballgtound, GA. I had the chicken salad croissant. It was fresh and tasty, just what you would expect. The place is simple, walls painted a pale green but no hanging art. Nothing fancy but seems like a nice place for a quiet lunch.
We waited 40 minutes for food, chicken salad sandwiches & fruit salad. Only to find out they were out of chicken salad and had to go buy some. (We arrived a little past 11) I thought the food was freshly made since the menu is small & changes. We asked for our money back and left.
Picture with me please, MILs 85th birthday. All 3 kids and respective spouses gathered for a special brunch out. We were greeted cordially at register and limited menu options were explained. 4 types of salad, 5 types sandwiches, plain chips, delicious carrot cake samples were offered. Thats were the service ended. Didnt receive ordered water, no one checked on us, werent even offered to purchase that yummy cake. Just an all around disappointment. We felt sandwiches were semi unique (undisclosed horseradish on the ham and cheese) (slaw on a bit of meatloaf) but nothing special. Probably wont go back.
I finally had lunch with a fellow Realtor at Lora Maes and it was AMAZING! That has to be the best grilled pimento cheese sandwich I have ever had from a restaurant and the sweet tea...omg exquisite. I will be a forever customer and it is so convenient to our Talking Rock Realty office right in downtown Ball Ground. Thanks!
Weve been visiting Lora Maes since their opening. Food is always fresh and tasty. We love that the menu is always changing. Great staff! Whenever they have them, you have to try the Cuban or meatball sandwiches. Their grilled pimento cheese is also amazing! Thanks Lora Maes!

2022-06-14My husband took me to lunch today and asked what sounds good? I said, Id love some chicken salad, in a quaint place, and somewhere new! Well, we searched Yelp and found the perfect place! Head North to Ball Ground (such a sweet town) and right across from the library is Lora Maes! White charming farm house, walk in to this sweet cafe and order up at the counter. We both had the CS croissant which were homemade and oh so yummy! We grabbed our own drinks of fresh brewed tea and lemonade (refills plenty) the house displays local artists and sells jams from Maine. Its the perfect place to retreat for a lovely, delicious lunch. Check their times on FB/Instagram and their menus too. But of course get the Chicken Salad (everything made daily and sourced locally) Nancy the owner came by to check on us and she is so incredibly sweet! Loved talking with her. She even showed us their event space in the back which can be rented out for showers, parties and even Tea Party. My only wish is she would turn into the ole Tea Leaves and Thyme from Woodstock! You are missing out if you dont try this place. Its like our very own Chicken Salad chick right here in North GA! This is my new go to place! Cant wait to come back! Oh and the chocolate chip cookie was so yummy. She has tables and a picnic table too. Can you tell Im thrilled I found this place!

2021-10-26This place is boring blah. 4 choices for lunch all not very exciting or interesting. I got a pimento cheese with pepper and spicey jelly. It was flavorful but gobs of the cheese without enough peppers. The bread was good but its like a half a sandwich very small in size. The lemon orzo soup was barely warm and served in a paper Dixie type bowl a tad tacky. It took a long time for us to receive our food and it was very pricey. My wife got the chicken peach and she said it was okay boring. This place has a lot of potential but the menu and prices and service needs to greatly improve for it to be successful.

2021-10-29Daily visit or special luncheon with “ the girls” the “ go to” place for food, fun and fellowship! Love the great soups and of course as a Southern Belle we also love a glass of sweet tea or cup of hot tea. Chicken Salad “ to go” a must!!! Take it home for the family or for your lunch at the office. Stunning Historical home and wonderful atmosphere.

2021-10-29The food here is always good and fresh, and there is a nice outdoor seating area, as well. My favorite food here is their chicken salad croissant, and meatloaf sandwich. Highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

2022-04-17Cute little niche cafe that serves delicious sandwiches, soups, an deserts. This is a gathering place for the local women. It’s stroller friendly but there isn’t a designated place to change babies diapers. Mama’s have to go out to their cars to change diapers.

2022-04-30Southern charm and food at its best! Great prices and the service was awesome. I walked in about 20 minutes before they closed and the staff was very friendly and my food was excellent!I ordered the pimento cheese sandwich and the chicken Salad sandwich to go. Both sandwiches were AMAZING! And I love that the menu rotates. I cant wait to come.back for the meat loaf! And oh ya, they have a great beer and wine selection. I ordered an Allagash White beer while I waited and enjoyed the atmosphere with a drink.

2021-09-13They just opened and their hours are 11 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. It’s an really interesting place, shop and dine the sign says, so we stopped in. Along with food, they have some really nice, spices, oils & vinegars, coffees, sauces and other items. Many of the items are unique.Located in a beautiful restored home just one block off main across from the library.Make sure to check out the chandelier made with keys! They also have a room perfect for hosting groups or small events.
