The atmosphere was nice, very sophisticated and upscale with books for sale on the shelves. The menu was only on one page but the drink menu was extensive. It seemed to be a place to get a quick bite not really an entire meal. The dessert was good, I had panna cotta with pistachios on top, unfortunately I bit down on a large pistachio shell that kind of ruined everything.
We ate here a few weeks ago for dinner, and Ive been meaning to leave a review. This place is exceptional, from the service, to the drinks, to the food. We made late reservations, and when we showed up, the front-of-house team apologized for the wait (which was only about two minutes). We were seated quickly and graciously. Inside, the decor is modern-but-intimate, and would imagine its even better with light streaming from the tall windows during the daytime. We had planned to order wine, but after an introductory cocktail, we were hooked - the bar staff make a simple gin and tonic other-worldly, and the martini was surprisingly refreshing. The oysters were excellent: dressed subtly but with distinct fruity flavors. For dinner, I went for the duck, which was the best Ive had, though the mushrooms almost stole the show. My wife had the crisp polenta, which I only had a bite of, but she was very pleased. Overall a lovely dinner, and we ended up purchasing a few books as well. Highly recommended.
Amazing place with delicious food in a great vibe. Decor of the library is absolutely fantastic and the books are so well priced! Look at the Hermès book it is quite impressive. The polenta croquettes were delicious with the truffle aioli. French bites were really good and the codd great too. Honestly and amazing place be sure to book early as it gets busy! Will be back for sure. Bertrand
Made reservations for date night with my husband and was not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious - especially the duck! Cocktails were just as good and the wine our server suggested paired perfectly with our entrees. This is definitely on the top of our favorites in Atlanta!
Much needed for Buckhead.Thoughtfully prepared shareable plates using seasonal produce. Everything was executed perfectly. We had the little gems salad, fries with aioli, tagliatelle, bread, arancini, and a beautiful bottle of champagne. Server and kitchen staff did a wonderful job of coursing the meal out and we very much enjoyed the ambiance.
One of the best meals Ive had in Atlanta in years. The food/menu is simple, but so tastefully executed. The service and the ambiance of the restaurant are also top notch. We had the seasonal tomato salad, the duck, taglioni with black truffles, raw hamachi, omelette with caviar, oysters, chocolate budina, and the panna cotta. Every plate was wiped clean. I would gladly re-order every one of them. We will certainly be back.
This is a much needed and top notch addition to the Buckhead community. The food is simple, absolutely delicious, and just right. The space is equally as wonderful and quite breathtaking with its emphasis on modern design and literature. I cannot wait to make this a staple spot in my routine. Highly recommend.

2022-08-06The website is accurate when it declares: “Beautiful books, smart wines, and thoughtful food.” Upon entering the beautiful and modern space, you know you’re in for a special experience. The dining room was warm and welcoming, just like the service. They have fun and interesting wines. I tried a unique Sauvignon Blanc and a Spanish white - both were very good. The crisp polenta was delicious. The only downside is that it comes atop a mound of aioli. I wish it had mentioned that on the menu as it would have made a difference on n my ordering. The little gem salad was really fantastic. The lettuce was fresh with a perfect crunch. The artichokes, salami and breadcrumbs were the perfect edition to the dish - salty, crunchy and delicious. The halibut was spectacular- fresh, bright and flavorful. It was the star dish of the night for me.I will definitely be back to explore more wines, dishes and books. It is on the pricey side, so it’s more of a special occasion or a night out restaurant. It lives up to its accolades.

2022-06-03Beautiful place with many interesting books that you can also buy and great services too. The two appetizers were very good, but the main entrees (Monkfish and Roast duck) and fries were salty. Prices are on the high end even with Buckhead standard.

2022-06-26I went here for a friends birthday and I was blown away. I will be back! It was stellar service and the food is exquisite. I thought the reviews were too good to be true, but I couldn’t be more wrong. As a vegetarian, I did not expect to have many options. This place has plenty for you to choose from as a meat eater or veggie lover. I highly recommend the fries with their seasonal sauce, the ricotta gnudi, and their rose panna cotta. It’s good food, books, and a variety of alcoholic beverages. It couldn’t be better! If you’re not a big drinker but want to try something: get the Yuzu sake and tonic. Keep in mind that this is a high end fine fine restaurant. You’re paying for the experience.

2022-04-08Lucian has been open for only a year and it is already becoming one of the top dining destinations in Buckhead. Founders Katie Barringer (Cover Books) and Jordan Smelt (Rive Gauche Wine, Cakes and Ale) have drawn from their past experiences to bring alive a vision of a neighborhood wine bar and bookstore much like the shops of greater London. Enjoy a welcoming yet upscale environment that offers simple yet immaculate dishes to compliment the extensive wine list catered by Smelt. After your meal enjoy browsing the wide variety of books on the main shelf, all available for purchase.Items we tried on this visit:Schiacciata with artichokes a la grecque - salami that is light in flavor, not too salty, with hints of rosemary. Paired with tart artichokes that provide a nice contrast.Jamón Ibérico de Cebo - a Spanish classic. The ham is light in flavor and melts in your mouth due to the high fat content. A pig unlike any other, it is easy to see why it is so beloved.Crisp polenta with black truffle and parmesan - like a superior tater tot, the fried cornmeal fritters are a perfect, crispy companion to your meal.Fries with chili mayonnaise - the fries are perfectly cooked and served in a large portion that will please your table. The lightly spiced mayonnaise is an ideal compliment.Burrata with strawberry, beets, and hazelnut - The fresh cheese is light in flavor and juicy. The bread is perfectly toasted and crispy. The beets are the weak point of this dish, it would be better served to add a touch of tartness and acidity such as cranberries.Ricotta gnudi with fava beans and pancetta - each bite consists of ricotta encased in a thin shell of pasta that goes down smoothly. Complimented by light and crispy bacon and fava beans that do not distract from the dish.Omelette with caviar and crème fraîche - the perfect omelette. Light, fluffy, creamy with a bit of dairy. Enjoy the addition of salt from the caviar and the herbaceous cream of the fraîche.Chocolate budino with pistachios - a rich chocolate mousse that would be overwhelming if not for the addition of the crunchy and salty pistachios. Paired together, it is a harmonious dessert that is perfect for closing out your meal.

The salad was simple yet flavorful, the small bites were all delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly. My fiancé had the salmon which she enjoyed as well. The atmosphere is very cool with a casual yet luxurious vibe. Great option for a date night, we will definitely be back.Highly recommend!

2022-02-18We met some friends here a few nights ago. My husband and I are vegans and it isn’t that easy for us to eat out. We had looked at the menu and knew we were limited but we were excited to go for the atmosphere. We had a waiter named Andrew and he went above and beyond to make sure we were able to have a great dinner, though they don’t have vegan items on their menu. He worked with the chef and prepared us something amazing. If we had more waiters like Andrew, we would probably eat out more! This is a great place, beautiful on the inside, and a wonderful wine selection! They have a soft cocktail that is to die for!

2021-10-02I don’t often leave reviews, but Lucian is a must visit for date night, special occasion, or really just “whenever”. Beautiful atmosphere without feeling stuffy or pretentious. The books are artful and inspiring, and the food is spectacular. I haven’t had one thing here that disappointed. I even discovered a new favorite wine on a whim. The service is wonderful, and very helpful. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
