Great place for a concert. I love coming to watch Fantasia sing every year, but unfortunately this is her last tour. I do however look forward to other concerts. If I had complaint it would be to have ushers move people to their seats quicker so that they arent standing in front of you looking for their seats while the concert has started. Also, they do sell food and drinks during the concert.
Absolute most HORRIBLE venue I have ever been to. We have been there for a dance competition all week and have spent tons of money and time to be here yet never been treated so rudely. The security guards were on a power trip, the venue wouldn’t allow any food or drinks from outside but didn’t offer anything except junk for dancers who were dancing for HOURS needing to be refueled. They first stuck us in a dressing room (girls only) that had no door but had a male security guard sitting outside of the room, the air was out and the kids were so hot. We have been to many dance competitions in tons of different cities and this was by far the WORST. please work on your customer service and hospitality.

I went to see the Ride or Die Tour, with Dustin Lynch, Brad Paisley, and Chase Bryant. I actually drove 3 1/2 hours, to the concert, just to see Dustin Lynch. I had a Meet and Greet pass, where I actually met, Dustin Lynch, in person, and had my picture took with him. The concert was amazing, and the people, at the Martin Luther King Stadium, were very nice, and helpful. I had a great time, and would go back. The ticket people, were very nice and helpful too. Great Experience 😉
I think this place is in desperate need of renovation. We were recently there for the Disney on Ice show. The seating was so confusing, that even 45 minutes into the show, there were still people walking around trying to figure out their seating. The chairs in the arena are so old and uncomfortable. My 3 year old would sit all the way back, and the chair would fold on her. We also didnt know that there was a parking lot right across the street with very reasonable rates! I wish the website would share that information.
Our seats were great. We got lucky and were in the first row of the nose bleed section giving us plenty of leg and dance room. The event had beer vendors, mixed drink vendors, and concessions like you would expect to see at a high School football game. I would have given them 5 stars, but the drinks are very expensive. $5 a beer is fair, but $10 a shot in a mixed drink... $20 for a double shot is outrageous.
Monster truck shows should not be held indoors. the exhaust filled up the arena in no time and the trucks were painfully loud. if the show was better that couldve been overlooked. monster x truck show might be more entertaining in an outdoor arena but I dont recommend it at the civic center for any price really.
First time in the area and decided to buy tickets to an upcoming event Martin Lawrence on March 6 called and spoke with a female representative she sounded rude but I asked if I could come down to see the arena and verify section before purchasing tickets and she replied NO. How rude and unprofessional. Most Arenas will let you come and view the arena before purchasing tickets to make sure customers are happy with their purchase. I’m very upset by the response and would like a more professional representative to contact me with a valid reason to this.
Horrible experience, I guess ok if you bring your own skates, even then it’s a tiny rink. It’s a waste of money, if you rent the skates. They are rounded over extremely dull, extremely uncomfortable and completely worthless. I’ve been ice skating for years and have right rented sakes in multiple states and have had great experiences both with my own skates and rentals. Doesn’t appear that they have skate sharpening on sight. I couldn’t skate for two minutes without my feet killing me not to mention, someone who used to play ice hockey, barley being able to stand. Horrible experience for my daughter who’s 3, no way she can learn.
Have attended MANY concerts here, most recently, Lynard Skynard. Show was FANTASTIC, however if you PLAN ON DRINKING, do it at home and take an uber bc I waited 40 minutes in a line for two 8oz mixed drinks TO THE TUNE OF $20/DRINK...THEY WERE AWFUL DRINKS. THE FLOOR LIGHTING WAS BAD IN OUR SECTION AND SAW 4 PEOPLE TRIP WHEN IT WAS TOO DARK TO SEE...ONE WAS A FRIEND WHO SPILLED 3/4 OF A DRINK SHE WAITED 45 MIN FOR AND SPENT 20 BUCKS ON. THEIR SNACKS ARE ALSO WAY OVERPRICED AND NOT TASTY. ID definitely go to more concerts, but Ill hire an uber and party and eat beforehand.
I know they are building a new Civic Center but they still need to maintain the old one. You can see chipped paint who h looks really bad on the outside. When you get inside & look up to the 2nd floor chipped paint, wires hanging everywhere. The bathroom smelt like mole, I went to use the restroom & was greeted with the handicapped stall leaking water from behind it which was dangerous for water being on the floor. My cane slipped in the water. Not having an employee to operate the elevator lift at all times or having the elevator life setup for a disabled person to use themselves especially if there was an emergency. I got downstairs on the lift but had to wait for someone to take the life back upstairs for the next person. Once I was down I had to wait to go back up because the lift was on the upper level with no one to operate it. Water leaking from the ceiling in the arena
Dated and no one really knew where to go, what to do. Staff was worthless when asked a question as they seemed for concerned about just getting paid and not working. This place need s a update(electricity shut off due to faulty breakers during our event. Tear it down and start over !

2020-01-12The facility is historic but pretty well kept. It would be nice to have a larger arena built for larger events and just use this conferences and Orchestra events. They had the National Ballet performance in the Mercer Room at the same time Monster Trucks were in the larger arena. Parking was at a premium. Best bet is the Park Garage across the street on Montgomery. This made restrooms pretty crowded. Also would like to see more food vendors with a little more variety. While Im happy the Monster Trucks finally came to Savannah, I think they need a larger arena for the XMonster Truck Event. The Racers did a great job with the limited space but definitely a better show when they have the room to really show off their skills. Ive seen them in a few different arenas and this was definitely the smallest.

2018-12-01Parking was weird for the race, the parking kiosks dont open until 8am, the race started at 8????? It will be nice when the construction is complete. Downtown was not happy about us blocking traffic for hours. Beautiful views from the top of the bridge.

2019-04-30Hey there!! Just went here for a job not too long ago and loved the place. The location was perfect and the staff was friendly. Perfect location to downtown and surrounded by parking and entertainment after a good days work . Our setup was made easy due to large access doorways and proper setup materials for stages and barricades supplied by the venue. I would recommend this location to others for looking for a good location for a decent amount of people in one area. Great staff and good venue. Only reason thia place lost a star is that the roof leaked in the middle of the night and some of our equipment got wet. Not the best thing. But all and all a great place!!!

2018-10-26I was in the front row for Disney on ICe and will probably post more pics later. But, I wanted to start off saying how much I enjoyed the show. It was done in multiple smaller acts. Opening with a retelling of Toy Story 3, then shifting to the Little Mermaid. We had an intermission, then when we returned there was a little skit down with cars from Pixars Cars. This was probably the weakest segment of the entire show. We then were treating to a retelling of Frozen. My only hang up with the entire show was that I would have enjoyed if this production had more diversity to it. of all the primary characters, and I am talking about 12 different characters, they were all white. We did not have Pocahontas, Moana, Mulan, Jasmine, Tiana or even anyone of any color or diversity from the movies. One could argue that Sebastian, from the Little Mermaid, was black since he is voiced by Samuel E. Wright, an African America. But, seeing the it was full costume and we only hear the voice of Sebastian, that is a stretch. No one that was not in full costume that covered their features were non-white. I found that kind of disappointing.A side note, I was sitting next to a family that had brought their daughter. Everyone seemed very happy. When the husband went to the bathroom, the mother motioned over one of the salespeople that were selling light up wands. She told her daughter to pick out a wand. Which these charming young lady did. The mother paid for the wand. The little girl was happy with her new light up wand. All was good. When the husband returned. A conversation ensued about the cost of the wand. It was $30. The husband called the salesperson back over and demanded a refund stating that the salesperson had not told his wife the price. Yes, the husband took the wand from his daughter and gave it back. Yes, the wand was $30. Who cares? They had given to the daughter which was happy with it.Instead of just chalking it up to a loss, and thinking that their daughter was happy with the wand. The husband bragged to his friends that sat on the opposite side of me of how he got back his money. Wow. Real class. This incident was probably the lowest part of my night experiencing a person gleeful that he got back his money and took the wand from his child and then bragged how he got his money back.I have included pictures of the area, the Disney souvenir stands, and of the show. I hope you enjoy them all.
