Monterrey Restaurant in other cities:
Iv NEVER had a Mexican restaurant bring me out fajitas that looked like this on a plate the its always been on a skillet and not to mention that I told my waitress twice Chicken and shrimp and she brought out a steak fajita looked worse at first NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO GO BACK!!!!!!First impressions are alot.........
I have a favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, then I stumbled upon this one. Talk about some great food! We are from Texas and really picky about Mexican food and this definitely hits the spot. The salsa is great and always fresh and the staff is wonderful! We have ordered food for takeout many times and the order is always right and ready really fast! We have also had dine-in service and the restaurant is nice and cheerful. The serving sizes a huge so expect to take some home for leftovers!
We were sat immediately and our server was prompt and courteous. Our drinks and dip were delivered quickly ( the only negative was the chips did not all seem fresh, some where and some were stale). Our lunch came out jot and fresh, the taco salad was very good. The shell for the taco salad was hot, fresh, and crispy. Drink refills came at the right time. Thanks for a good experience!
Yes, my roommates and I decided we wanted to have taco Tuesday at our local Mexican joint. We got seated right away. However, our series here was below average. They were not busy and our waitress did not. heck on us but twice out of the time we were there. Our food was served cold and was immediately asked to be heated up. we then waited about 10 more minutes before we asked where our food was at. our bill did not have any prices on it, so we do not know how much we were charged for anything. would not recommend this place even if it was the last place on earth.
Came with my wife for lunch. I had a lunch chimichanga and she had Chile Verde. I asked if the Chile Verde was lean and they said it was, but NO! Each chunk was more than half fat and the sauce was way too mild and lacked taste. The chimichanga was filled with ground beef, not seasoned at all, and thats it. It had a sour cream sauce with was good but it was all VERY mild. Service was slow. I asked for hot sauce and it finally came after I was done eating. The table was unsteady and rocked back and forth. I gave it a 2 star because the atmosphere was good.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. I cannot find another restaurant in the area that has the excellent quality that these guys have. The atmosphere is great and family friendly and the staff is always nice and courteous.
Our waitress was amazing so kudos to her, the place doesn’t serve horchata so that was a loss of a star. We ordered nachos and the guacamole which were decent. The green chili pork was very good but the chicken enchiladas were bland at best hence the three stars. Have yet to find a good quality Mexican place without having to drive to Columbia SC or Athens.
I ate there 3 weeks ago when visiting the area. I used to like Theresa’s on Boy Scout Road and discovered they were gone, but not sure when they closed. I got the chicken and veggie fajitas. I ordered them mild yo moderate and was surprised how bland they tasted. The place was busy inside and for pick up so I thought the food would be better. The veggies were undercooked snd the chicken was not seasoned. I boxed them up to take home snd added the salsa from the table. The next day they were better with the salsa marinade and additional cooking. The chips, salsa snd service was very good. I do not think I will go back there.
Monterey Restaurant is among one of the better Mexican restaurant chains. My wife and I had one final date night before leaving Augusta Georgia, and we chose this restaurant. I really enjoy a restaurant with a quiet atmosphere and as much as the food quality, this restaurant provides that atmosphere as well. Definitely recommended, and we will be back here if were ever in the area in the future.
One of my best friends is Tilman Greene who do the Karaoke and the Manager Poco have one of the finest restaurants in the CSRA. And very good food. Manager Poco loves his guest and give all nothing but respect. And customer service!!! I cant say enough about this restaurant, Poco is a fine host, and. Tilman is a special karaoke Jokey.
I went to dinner with the family and we order and it was good and we were all happy, but then when the food came the chicken was cut much to large in the dish also way to much cilantro in it as well. What the worst part was, was the waiters looks as I was trying to get attention to get our check to leave. They just keep looking at each other laughing and a lady would come and act like she was going to help then walk to the next table then she would go back to the group to laugh and look over at us. Worst surver I have ever had in a restaurant.
This is the second time I have eaten at this location since covid 19 started. Both visits werent like the times previous. Im not sure if they have changed cooks or not, but he or she needs retraining. Food not up to par. I ordered chicken fajitas and it came out sizzling as usual however it was overcooked, chicken very dry, I ask for a fresh order and they reheated the same plate, put red sauce over it and brought it right back to the table.
I always get the Filet Pescado dish when I eat at Monterreys. I had only been to the location in North Augusta, but my regular meal became very dry and bland. I decided to try the Monterrey Restaurant in Martinez, and the Filet Pescado dish was seasoned and delicious!! Love this place! Best chips and salsa in town!
Ive lived in Augusta for about 6 months and have eaten at several Mexican restaurants in the are was by far the worst. While the portions were large, the flavor was not. I ordered the street chicken tacos and they essentially gave me grilled chicken with no seasoning, leaving the tacos extremely bland. It took over 20 minutes of waiting and a trip to the bar before our drink order was even taken. If your looking for better quality food and service, I would recommend Taqueria El Rey right down Washington Road.
I had visited another Mexican restaurant which made me miss Mexican. But the other restaurant wasnt good. I got the taco salad. Omg it was so good I went back and got it again along with a treat. The service was great. You can tell the servers know their regulars personally. Good food & good service. Ill be back....
Passed by this restaurant more times than I can count and finally went inside for a wonderful meal with my wife. Rafael J. took wonderful care of us and fully enjoyed the Filet Pescado and the Burrito Especial. The chips and salsa were fresh, fast and hot with the salsa being very flavorful. There was not enough time to eat very many of them as our order arrived soon after. A truly wonderful dining experience. Thank you Monterrey.
Don’t eat here! I went and asked for a pitcher of margaritas and they asked what size I thought it was weird because I just said a pitcher but thought ok he must have missed that part. Get the bill and was charged for a pitcher of PATRON margaritas which is $37!! They made no attempt to fix this for me and being in food service myself I didn’t want to put up a huge fight so I paid it but that is ridiculous! Being in food service myself I would make sure someone ordering something this expensive really wanted that. I will never go here again! Beware and double and triple check they hear you correctly because they have no customer service to correct their mistake and will make you pay!
I got Nachos and it was just beef and cheese and it was ok. It was a to go order. The customer service was excellent and as soon as I walked in someone tried to assist me. The wait was not long at all. The parking lot needs some work. Parking is a little limited. The workers did not have on masks ,I had on mine.UPDATE:They have a drive thru ,you dont have to leave your car! Just turn to the right when you first pull in the window will be on your left. Tell the assistant what you want they will pull u up into a designated parking area and bring out your food.....Yay!! The nachos are much better and the queso is the best I have tasted. 😉
So we have visited other Monterrey locations here in Augusta, but this was our first time at this one. The flow of the restaurant is not ideal, nor was our hostess as friendly as we are used to. But as always, the food that we got more than made up for it. They are always more than willing to do substutions and this allows you to get the dishes you really want.I think it might have been an off night, because our server was amazing, but clearly overwhelmed with what seemed like every table across three sections.
We arrived at the drive up window at 6:45pm, we ordered a veggie number 4 and some cheese dip. We watched other people that were there after us, get their food. We stayed waiting for an hour before walking up to the window and asking what was taking so long. He said oh sorry, the runner mustve missed you. We waited another 6 minutes for him to hand is our food. It wasnt any good at that point, it was cold and squishy.
We just went to eat. lady greeted us and gave us chips and salsa and took drink order. our waitress brought us our drink and said she would be right back. 20 minutes later, I write our order on a napkin and go find her. told her we needed drunk refills and salsa. 15 minutes later, we left. on the way to monterrey in North Augusta. should have went there to start. AWFUL SERVICE
Extremely disappointed. After being seated on the patio, waited 45 minutes and finally stopped someone to get drinks. Another 30 and had to go find a waitress to order food. There were at least 6 of them hanging around the bar inside. Food finally arrived an hour and 45 minutes into being seated. The patio was full at first and then just dirty tables. Inside was not busy at all. I asked about the problem and was told food was delivered 17 minutes after the ticket went in. Maybe so, but why did it take that long to place the order? When I asked to see the manager he was curt and unapologetic, saying the kitchen switches over, and we had food in 17 minutes repeatedly. I didnt touch my meal, my boyfriend did eat his. The managers solution was to take the plate and then take it off the bill. I would have been happy with Im sorry and an effort to make it better, take a drink off the ticket or something. Nope. Not at all interested in customer service or making it right. There are plenty of other places to eat that care about the service they provide. We will not return. The kicker was the Columbia County Deputy that came to the table and asked the waitress if everything was ok. Our conversation was not elevated nor assertive in any way. What kind of a restaurant requires an armed officer?
They gave me the wrong order number over the phone, and when I told the man working the counter the order wasnt mine, he yelled at me. How would I have known the number if they didnt give it to me over the phone? Its your job to make sure the order is right.Too many restaurants in this town for me to deal with that.
Carnitas de la Casa were perfect. Good cold beer and tasty frozen margaritas. Service was on spot. We sat at the bar because it was busy. All in all a great experience.Had the carne asada with corn tortillas. Wasnt the best Ive ever had but good. Everything everyone else had looked good as well.a
I come here often. Always friendly, expedient service. I work walkimg distance away and today it was raining. When I arrived, I was seated quickly as always. The host who sat me was back in 30 seconds with paper towels. He said here you go sir, your shoes are wet. Wow.
This has turned into my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Augusta area. The food comes out unbelievably fast and is always hot and fresh. The waiters and staff are always attentive and get to know you after a few visits and greet you with a smile.Give this place a shot!
I usually go to Veracruz on peach orchard but they have started to suck so figured Id give this place a try. The waiter was almost non existent for the place to pretty much be empty youd think theyd be alittle more attentive especially its about to be Masters week! Always had to flag someone down and eat dry chips with no drinks lol. The food was alright it wasnt anything special like others have said the taco salad shell was disgusting and pretty much burnt the chips tasted better. Just not for me.
Every time I have been here the service is horrible! Only went this evening because a few friends were meeting up here. Live just down the street from this place (about a 3 minute drive). Next time we get an invite to meet up with friends I think well take a pass! Much better Mexican restaurants with MUCH BETTER service in the area.
First and foremost, I am only giving this location 1 star due to the fact that it will not allow me to give anything less. This afternoon my coworkers and I had a less than pleasant experience with our server Ricky, the manager and the cop that was called to the table simply because the manager and server would not listen to our complaints. We were nothing less than pleasant to these people and we are paying customers and they chose to not only embarrass us but they became disrespectful, they lied, laughed, and even tried to cheat us on our meals. I have been going to the location in Evans for 10+ years and never once have I had this kind of issue. Not only that, but we have been to MANY restaurants and have never been belittled and treated so poorly. Being from the dental field, my coworkers and I know a lot about customer service and if we were to ever treat our patients with this type of service it would be unacceptable. Needless to say, this location will not be getting my business nor any of my colleagues business again. We are highly disappointed as this was supposed to be a nice work outing.
Hostess was not the mostest. Upon entering restaurant hostess was at the station and did not greet the guest in front of us and they did not greet us. She did not speak or acknowledge us. She only addressed a fellow staff member and let us all walk by. There is a sign that says wait to be seated so I dont understand why it happened. On the inside the place is clean, our table was clean. Server was friendly and food came out fast.
It took 15 minutes after being seated to get our drink order and food order taken . Had to get the hostess to get more tea. Took another 15 minutes to get food. The food was horrible, bland and looked unappetizing. My Mexican rice tasted like Chinese fried rice and my chicken fajitas had no cheese and no sour cream and was tasteless. Had to have someone to hunt down our so called waiter so we could pay to leave! We told two people the food was awful and no one cared.
I have been here twice, and both times have been a pleasure. This is just a homey lightweight restaurant. Lots of locals go here for the specials, beer, patio. I like eating the Street Tacos....you can kinda build them yourself and two are enough to fills you (as I do eat some of the nachos and cheese as an appetizer). The are 3 bucks each and worth it. Wash down with a big fish bowl of a top shelf margarita and you have a winner comfortable meal. The Staff go the extra mile to make everything right at the tables.
Great food, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. Ive frequented this establishment for years and it has always been a pleasant experience. Much like every resturaunt on earth, they hire someone new every now and then, causing first time customers to lose their minds. Otherwise its a good place to grab tex-mex. Both the queso and guacamole casera are divine.
My husband and I ate here last weekend. It is the most nasty place I have ever eaten in. All the waiters were to busy on their phones and watching TV to even wait on us. I had to go up to the counter to get some of my order they forgot to bring. NEVER AGAIN will i eat here.
Today was at the bottom service was lousy to say the least food was cold when it was served our server never returned when it came time to get the check was Johnny on the spot then had to wait for her to return 5 minutes to pay my bill there are at leat 10 Mexican restaurant in the martinez area want be back have eaten there for years a shame just cant find good help or a manager to see what was going on they were not busy now I know why happy mothers dayVery sad day.
Terrible food and terrible service....my group waited 35 minutes for someone to take our order...do not go here...eat at salsas that is literally 3 minutes away save yourself the headache of the poor experience that is this restaurant. (Been to this restaurant at least five times and everytime it is terrible)
My choice for mexican in our area, for over 20 years! My staples are the steak quesadillas, Pollo al Chipotle, Chimichanga, and I cannot eat there or get it to-go without the Guacamole Casera. Also, at some point please try their wings, better than what you would expect. :) Andres and staff are friendly and make every effort to make your visit wonderful.
Food and service was very good. The place is a little old and dark. Felt a little crowded. I had the Burrito California. Very good flavor. Chicken, steak, beans, rice, lettuce, and pico de Gallo all wrapped up in one tortilla. Green sauce on one half and red sauce on the other. Very filling. My wife had the Enchiladas Verdes. Restroom was a little dirty.
Dont cuss on the patio during karoke or the fat lady cop will get her feelings hurt and ask you too leave.Probably the dumbest lady iv ever met running customers off for cussing outside on a patio while we are drinking. Id reccomend going somewhere else if you see your group having this same problem

2022-04-22Most of the food is very good but they dont always understand what you ask for. Margaritas are great if you get them Texan (too shelf) style. Pleasant atmosphere during day and good service. At night it can be noisy from karaoke and service spotty.

2021-07-24This is my second time and both times have not been good . Decided to get food with the family & I definitely wish we would have went else where. Thinking since last time I ordered to go at the dinner rush I was understanding why some of my items were made sloppy or made incorrectly after specifying . The place is cute ,wasn’t a long wait too be seated. The servers aren’t great but they aren’t horrible . Now when I come to a restaurant too sit down I understand with that food can take some time too cook especially depending on what’s being cooked. So when I place an order for steak fajitas and it comes out 6 minutes later along with the rest of my tables food I’m in question . Well the rice was cold , the veggies in the fajita weren’t cooked some still hard . The steak wasn’t hot , felt and tasted reheated . The salad mix had a mix of old and new lettuce . Just seems like they spit food out and don’t care of the products they put out. Has a potential but I’m unsure if it’s poor manger skills or lazy workers .

2021-06-17After moving from Atlanta I was looking for a good Mexican Restaurant & after trying several restaurant I have to say Monterrey is one of the best ones in Augusta. Everytime I visit I am always greeted with the biggest smile. The food is always fresh, delicious & everyone is AMAZING! They are very clean and during this pandemic they took extra precautions to make sure everything was sanitized.

2022-03-02They should get No Stars for lack of customer service. I just left that restaurant and have never been there in the 45 years of living in Augusta. I should have left because we were totally ignored. We should have walked out. I left a small tip because I have more class than the service I received. I will never go back. I did ask the waiter at the end if we had done something to offend him, and the excuses were lacking. The food did not make up for the lack of service. Im not rich but my money is good somewhere else. It was only me and my daughter and I can assure you we work very hard too.

2021-06-15We came in late in the evening, near close. They were ready to seat us with the absolute best, most polite attitude, however we did go with a takeout order since we werent aware they were about to close, and we werent trying to be difficult. All of the food was perfect...hot, fresh, exactly as we ordered, wonderful portions, especially in comparison to other local restaurants serving similar foods. This was our second visit to this location, but this definitely will NOT be our last! Thank you, to ALL of the polite and kind staff! 💜

2022-07-05Good food, service was slow due to worker to customer ratio. Food was good, server was friendly, and she was attentive to our needs.

2022-04-18Not authentic Mexican food, definitely Georgia-ized for the palate here.Tried carnitas street tacos, tamal, and chile relleno to give them a chance. I couldnt finish any of it. Did not care for the salsa that came with the chips either.
