My husband and I hosted a wedding weekend welcome event here last Friday on the rooftop - and everything was perfect! Leading up to the event, Derek was super responsive and answered all of my questions to make sure everything was ready to go to host family and friends. We reserved two hours on the roof, but we were having so much fun that we stayed to hang out through the night. The food was delicious and priced well, and so were the drinks. The rooftop was a perfect spot to hang out with our loved ones. Highly recommend hosting an event with Nama, or at the very least dining in for some of their delicious food and drinks!
Nama has a lot going for it; the rooftop bar, the games, and the food are something different for Carrollton and done very well. The owner is energized and has put together a fresh experience for the Square that I hope continues to improve with time. The only reason I dont rate Nama higher is for the, at times, abysmal staff. Nama had excellent staff when they first opened, though the quality of the bartenders and servers declined steadily as the restaurant/ bar became more established. Bartenders would openly discuss other patrons negatively within earshot, stare at them while they waited to be served, or discuss who would be unlucky enough to wait on said patron while they sat on the opposite end of the bar. Of two dozen or so visits, I have been this customer twice, while the staff was comprised of unfamiliar college students or early-30 somethings. If I recognized a server or sat downstairs at a table, I could almost always expect excellent service, but on various weekdays, I would stealthily take note of the party upstairs before exiting. Your mileage may vary, though the customers that seemed to be the least fondly discussed were by themselves. Other times, Nama has been excellent for me. I even brought my dad up for drinks once.
The wife was violently sick from the filet bowl. This was more than likely due to bacteria on the meat. Nama also possesses one of the sorriest excuses for a poke bowl Ive ever seen. A small pinch of ICEBERG lettuce. And the only thing that resembles a vegetable are the edamame. This place is NOT GOOD
Had dinner with some friends for our holiday party. Our waitress’ were very nice and attentive. Drinks were very good, I had a seasonal mule with my sushi and hibachi chicken I ordered. I got the go west roll and it was amazing! Overall we were very please! We will definitely be back again for more!
Bad experience last Friday. We went to celebrate a friends birthday. Waitress had bad attitudes and un professional. We had waited over 40mins still no food. We finally had to stop a waitress and ask about food. One stated they havent even started cooking it.Then another waitress stated it would be 10mins.Everyone kept making excuses and telling lies.Ask to speak with manager he wasnt apologetic at all.I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Went tonight and sat on the rooftop patio. The server was fast, so sweet and polite. Ordered the Nama sushi roll and CAD ( filet) rice bowl. The sushi roll was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection, literally melting in my mouth. I will definitely be back and soon. Servers need was Madeline I believe, great job!
The foods here are sooooo good. I tried a couple of their sushi rolls and they were amazing! Also, be sure to try the pineapple mule- I would literally die for it. This is also a great late night spot for drinks upstairs or on the roof top. They have games and everything there!
The Sushi was extremely tasty. $12 is not something that I can get everyday, but definitely a delicious treat. My wife said the shrimp in her rice were cooked perfectly, but the rice itself was to salty. Maddi , our server was attentive and helpful. We did not go to the bar upstairs, but they sounded like they were having a good time up there.
We had only sushi on our recent visit, and it was very good. I like when a restaurant has a relatively small menu that they execute well, rather than an extensive menu of mediocrity! We had a small service problem, however, in that we were seated and given water, but no server ever came to our table until, after a half-hour, I got a servers attention. (Evidently, there was a communication problem between the hostess and the wait staff.) They were very apologetic and remedied the oversight immediately. Furthermore, our drinks were made to be complimentary as a compensation for the mishap - an appreciated, unsolicited concession.Something to keep in mind is that dinner is stopped at 10:00 PM, despite hours listed as later. After the kitchen closes, it is simply a loud bar and very much not kid-friendly. Also, parking in Adamson Square is very limited, so unless you are very lucky, you may have to walk a block or so to get to the restaurant, but it is worth a small hike. The sushi is very good.
Food, no, bar yes. If you like SALT to overpower your food, this is your place. You cant taste anything because of the excessive use of SALT. My teen says the sushi is good though. Their bar, however, is probably one of the better in town. Dinner for three with ice water - $70
The food and service are fantastic! The prices are ridiculous! We can go to any competitive restaurant and get just as good food and feed 4 people, get sodas and alcohol for less than what it cost for just 1 choice of meat hibachi here. I understand during COVID prices went up, but it shouldnt cost almost $50 for a hibachi steak and hibachi chicken. We will go elsewhere from now on.
My son wanted sushi and the place we initially went to just happened to be closed on Tuesday. He was bummed, so I looked up an alternative. We got there and the hostess/server was efficient and purposeful with a friendly smile and demeanor. The sushi was served within a reasonable time, and both our choices turned out excellent. My son has a new favorite sushi place.
I was very disappointed. The service was fast and the server was extremely nice, but the food was nothing like what I excepted for an asain restaurant. Nothing had much of any seasoning. That being said the quality of the meat was pretty good. The steak was super tender, but it had no flavor. The shrimp were big and tasted fresh, but they were very greasy. And the rice on the sushi did not taste right. I think maybe they need more experienced cooks.
The food here is amazing, although I did have more onions than anything else in my Hibachi veggies. There arent many sushi options, but they dont need more options because the ones they have cater to everyone. They do not have salads except for a seaweed salad, which is the best one Ive had. Ill definitely be back.
My girlfriend & I had never been here but this place was highly recommended from our peers. We decided to try it. Tired the fried green beans nothing too special. I got the CAB Filet. The soup wasn’t my favorite but my girlfriend enjoyed it. The filet was phenomenal. So tender & full of flavor. The fried rice & the yum yum sauce were excellent. My girlfriend got the hibachi chicken added teriyaki sauce. It was also phenomenal. Packed with flavor and not dry. Overall our experience was great. Waitress was attentive & nice. I definitely will be returning.
My husband and I just got back from having our anniversary dinner. Everything about our experience was amazing!! Madison C was our server and she was fantastic! She made our night even more fun. The food was great too! Thank you for making our night even more special!
Longtime patron of the owners other business, which is now closed, so I tried Nama for the first time. Was pleasantly surprised with the salmon and tuna hand rolls, and the grill on the shrimp and chicken hibachi dinners was excellent. I can tell the owner is now committed to this place as it showed in all the details from the time we were seated until we left for the evening. No complaints and a fantastic addition to downtown Cton.
Needs work. The beef is excellent, and fried rice was fine. The stir fried veg was raw. Not pleasantly crisp, practically raw.Sushi was forgettable. Bland, kind of sad, and needing something More. Even a drizzle of spicy mayo or something. The appetizers we got were good.Service was indifferent. The 4 blondes were all friendly, but it did not seem like they had a system. Just a lot of inefficient rushing about, then nothing and chatting. We were not checked on, no refills, nothing. Someone from the kitchen actually brought out most of the food. Please tighten up your operation, it has a lot of potential, but training and proper management needs to happen for it to thrive.
Had a terrible experience. We sat there for two hours to get some rather simple items.Ordered the hibachi and never got soup or even a sorry we are out until I said something after getting the check. She didnt seem sorry or anything. Half of the vegetables were undercooked and way too large. Wasnt worth the prices AT ALL.
Ive tried a little bit of everything here, the sushi, steak, seafood, but my high praise has to go to the mixed drinks! Yes, the mixed drinks. Order some sushi and drinks, and sit on the rooftop! You cant go wrong! Also I dont know what this place is doing to keep the flies and mosquitoes away, but its working great!
We went for my daughters birthday ordered some sushi and ramen. Very disappointed on the sushi and even more on the ramen. We ordered 3 different sushi rolls for the table all of them had a funny taste and ramen tasted worse than the 25cent packs you can buy at Walmart. I do not recommend this place for sushi or ramen.
It was the first time we had been to Carrollton GA and we were starving. Found this place and it was GREAT!Our food was reasonably priced(especially the pho), we got it quickly, the presentation took us by surprise, and we left full and happy. The presentation really showed that the chef care about everything he does from the soup to the sushi. Great fish quality and the prime rib in the pho was melt in your mouth delicious. if we come back to Carrollton we will be eating here for sure!
Me and my wife went there for a date.the decoration is Poor, the cocktails were good ,and appetizers were ok.My wife order the Chicken Tempura and they didnt have any chicken !! WHAT?Nobody take it out of the checkThanks God I order a printed tCheck and noticed it..Soo Disappointed! !!
If I could give them a zero I would. We went there one day, got seated and then we waited 15 minutes ! We waited for the waitress to ask us what we wanted to drink and instead she told us they are closed and have to leave. WVEN THOUGH WE GOT THERE 20 MINUTES PRIOR. We waited for a seat 5 minutes and to be kicked out for 15.
Dont order the Bok Choy because even though it is on the menu they dont serve it. Knowing that before spending time deciding what to eat would have been helpful. The Go West roll tasted good but had shrimp shell in it that got stuck in my throat. Nama didnt have any bread I could eat to help push it down. Lets just say that the sushi doesnt taste as good coming up but my throat felt better after making a trip to the bathroom. So as long as you dont order the Bok Choy or shrimp (or bring your own bread) you should enjoy it.
Any other restaurant in the square will provide a better meal (service was lovely, which is where the two stars come from). We got the pho, poké bowl and spicy salmon roll. The raw tuna for the poké was served on top of very warm rice, and the resultant texture of the tuna was mushy and not fresh whatsoever (a trait shared by the salmon in the sushi, which was equally mushy and completely lacking in flavour, even after being smothered with spicy mayo). The pho was served with beef already cooked in the broth (which, if youve ever ordered pho, the beef is meant to be served raw and cooked in the broth by you), and were poor cuts of meat full of fat and inedible gristle. The flavour of the broth was, once again, bland and lacking the real complexity of pho. Personally wont be returning nor recommending this poor amalgamation of wannabe-asian cuisine.
My food was edible enough, but my girlfriend ended up vomiting the next morning after eating sushi of questionable quality. If youre looking for an over-priced approximation of asian fusion cuisine with a moderate risk of food-borne illness, this is the place for you.

2022-01-31We ate here for the first time this past weekend and absolutely loved it. I cant remember our servers name but she was wonderful and very helpful. We had some drinks off of their valentines list. They were so cute and delicious!! We had sushi and some apps and everything came out well presented. Cant wait to return.

2022-02-16Delicious food. Loved the sushi. My wife and I sat at the bar since all of the tables were full downstairs. Our server Amaya was very helpful and friendly. Our cocktails were delicious. We will be sure to come back next time we’re in town.

2022-01-27It is so bad I want to give it a zero but thats not possible, so I give it a 1. Overall awful experience!! Our server Kevin was not attentive, was all over the place. We ordered drinks & didnt get them until halfway through our meal. There was ROACHES crawling in the dining area on the booths!! I cant imagine how horrible it must be in the kitchen. We were a party of 3, we all ordered hibachi, and when we ALL asked for yum yum sauce he only brought us 2. When we asked for more he seemed highly annoyed. We waited a very long time after our meal to receive our checks, & when we finally paid he charged us all wrong on our cards & had to be charged TWICE. Im not the type to leave bad reviews but this experience was so bad. Definitely dont recommend.

2022-05-06Came here for my birthday, and it was a mistake. Im mainly writing this because my husbands review with photos isnt showing up (or was wrongfully deleted). Our tuna sashimi was full of tendons. Let me elaborate on that: the meat was cut improperly, so the pieces we got had tendons so thick and abundant that it was inedible. We couldnt even cut through them. Whoever prepared our food knew good and well what they were putting on the plate, and sent it out any way. For the cost of the food, thats a slap in the face.Other things to note: the downstairs is now brightly lit and feels more like a cafeteria than a pleasant dining experience. Its also much louder. They seem to want to cater to large groups only, this no longer feels like a restaurant that welcomes anyone wanting an enjoyable date night. Our drinks were good, and thats really the only positive thing I have to say. Our server (who was also our bartender) dropped off our drinks without a word and didnt check on us again. We had to flag down a different server to get our check after 3 couples that arrived after us had gotten their checks. We were all sat at the bar because, again, they no longer seem to want to cater to couples, and there was no where else for us to sit. This is very disappointing. The owner ran Tokyo Express, a restaurant I enjoyed so much that I took all of my friends there so they could enjoy it, too. I followed him to Nama expecting the quality to skyrocket, but its faded greatly over time. Is this place under new (bad) management? I dont think Ill be going back.

2022-01-31My friends and I met up to eat here for the first time this weekend and it was such a wonderful experience. My kiwi mojito was like the best drink Ive had in a long time. Our server was sweet and helped us decide on some food options. The sushi was beautiful and fresh. We are going to try and get out to Carrollton more just to come back! Such a cute location too I had no idea the Square and downtown area Carrollton had. Overall great experience cant wait to return!

2022-06-11They sell filet AND ITS NOT! There are so many other places that have better quality meat and service! It almost tastes like a New York strip that they sell as a filet. Food is way under par for the price! Ill pass on this place moving forward! Next....

2022-06-15Wont be back:( Food was over greased and pricey. Also one of the bar tenders was very rude. From now on it will be a different Chinese, Asian, or Japanese restaurant for fair prices.
