I was a volunteer at Gardens of Shiloh Point for a couple years, coming under the leadership of Lisa Miner, when she was activities director. My experience at this facility was life changing. I grew to love the community, the residents, staff and family members. It was more than an assisted living community, it felt like family. I’m not in a position to have a family member at the community but when and if I should, Gardens of Shiloh Point would be the first place I go to. I saw love, care and compassion for the residents. It made it easy for me to do the same from a volunteer perspective.
My mother just recently moved into the memory care section at The Gardens of Shiloh Point. My husband and I wanted so badly to care for her when she moved to Georgia in July but we quickly realized we would not be able to provide all of the care she needed. Everyone has been so great. The staff has a very caring attitude and it feels more like a family environment which was so important to us when looking for the right place. Mom is adjusting really well and she loves it there. We are at peace knowing she is really “home” now and where God has intended her to be.
Gardens of Shiloh is amazing! I’ve volunteered at this community for a few years. I help decorate at Christmas, help with events and spend time with residents. The staff, residents and facility are simply wonderful. Facility is always clean welcoming and everyone is friendly. If my mom lived in Georgia I would have her in the care of this loving team. ❤️
My ninety-two year old aunt was reluctant to give up her independence when it became obvious that it was time. The Gardens of Shiloh Point has exceeded our and her expectations. The staff members are caring, compassionate, competent, enthusiastic, and loving. There is an activity calendar that keeps her active, interested, and happy. She is happier there than we ever expected. I would recommend this facility without any hesitation.
My mother was a resident in the memory care area for 18 months until she passed away at the age of 93. After a horrific experience at a different facility, we instantly felt the warmth and expertise of the staff at Shiloh. Everyone in the building - on all shifts, including clerical staff - were kind and caring and knew each resident by name. My mother was more social and engaged than she had been in years. Even with advanced Alzheimers, she remarked that she felt safe. And she was. She had a series of strokes - During one episode, in addition to nursing staff, the building engineer, who had paramedic experience, sat with her, well after his shift had ended, until the ambulance arrived. Finally, following a more debilitating stroke, the hospital said a nursing home would probably have to replace Shiloh. Not so - The Shiloh nursing director came to the hospital to arrange for her transfer back, saying, Shes family and shes coming home. We owe a debt of gratitude to these people. I stay in touch, as they feel like my family, too.
When I had to leave town because of a death in the family, I called the Gardens of Shiloh Point for my husband who had been there for activities and was on the waiting list. The Director, Lisa, could not have been more accommodating. He came in on the Respite plan, but we felt he would be staying there long term. Lisa took care of getting the room set up for him and he moved in a few days later. He has now been there 7 months and seems to be adjusting. He enjoys participating in some of the activities, especially Bingo. The staff is very friendly and always there to answer any questions I might have. He has also come a long way with the PT he is getting. Its like you are family there and I definitely feel part of the family as well.
The Gardens at Shiloh Point ranks as the top facility of its kind that I have ever been in. The staff is gracious, kind, and helpful in every circumstance. Everyone always has a smile on their face. The quality of care for the residents is extraordinary. The environment is open, spacious, well-lighted and always clean. I would recommend the Gardens at Shiloh Point to anyone.
After having tried 6 other assisted liviving communities (1 was $7,300/month!) my family was fortunate enough to find Gardens. This staff is amazing!!! They don’t just give lip service, they deliver quality of life every day. I drop by regularly and find the staff always attentive, caring, and helpful. Also, they are transparent- when things go wrong (something will inevitably go wrong at some point), they call, give me facts, assessments, and solutions. We all want to know that we’re leaving our most precious loved ones in a safe, clean, and loving environment- Gardens is that place. Ms. Lisa, Ada, Tara, and the rest of the staff go above and beyond EVERY day. God bless them all.
Dogwood Forest of Cumming is a huge blessing to my family. My Mom and Dad have been residents since February 2016. They are happier and healthier than they have been in years. Dogwood provides outstanding services across the board. Everyone from the Directors, Med Techs, CNAS, meals, housekeeping, laundry service, to the hair salon give so much more than just their skills. They give so much love. Everyone is always smiling and so willing to help in any way possible. Dogwood Forest of Cumming is truly an answer to prayer.
My uncle Sean has been living here for 3 years. He loves the small community, the activities, and the staff. The absolute greatest and best feature of this property is Rafael Castilo who is the Maintenance Director....but he is so much more. Rafael can do and fix anything. And quickly. And with a smile on his face. He is a gentle giant and has a huge heart. He moves like a superhero. The residents and their families adore him, and I honestly wonder how hes able to do all that he does. He is one in a million!
As the daughter of resident who has early-onset Alzheimer’s, having my mom move into The Gardens last year was an incredibly emotional time. After all, I am the daughter, shouldn’t I be taking care of her? How could total strangers care for my mom the way that I would? I’m here 10 months later, to say thru happy tears that I do not believe I could create 1/2 the wonderful environment (although I would try mightily), that has been created for & around my mom on a daily basis. From the activities, to the attention to detail surrounding her medication, her wonderful time socializing with friends, entertaining singers and visitors that bring her new life experiences, her devotional time, as well as trying to comfort her in the evening when she may be more confused than usual, I’ve felt top to bottom that this staff truly CARES about my mom & her quality of life. There have been numerous times that I have needed their extra help & they have been incredibly accessible no matter the time of day or night. You might be surprised how much it could devastate your loved one if they simply misplace the remote control or can’t figure out how to plug in their phone, or seem to have lost something that they use on a daily basis. From the very first week my mom moved in until now, the medical and front office staff have called me by name, knew exactly what was on my mom’s agenda, & often helped me ready her for medical appts or procedures (fasting, timing, paperwork printed) seamlessly so that I didn’t need to spend the night prior with her to make sure she was ready. Perhaps more impressive about this particular staff, is the way in which they have created a culture of “all hands on deck”, while having fun along the way- you can absolutely tell they love what they do, and even though our beloved Lisa who was the original Director, has moved on, we are excited that they chose to stay in-house and promote Ada- we feel equally great about her & her ability to deliver the best care & culture possible, while also listening to our concerns & making all of the residents @ the Gardens feel valued & loved.
Shiloh is not a large facility physically, but it is large in heart, which is the most important thing when caring for our aging family members. Ada, Valerie, Tara and the entire Shiloh staff go out of their way to provide a safe and loving environment for the residents.
I value the approachability of your staff, and thorough attentiveness to the residents. They are cared for like family, and it is apparent the staff know and love the residents. That same compassion for people shows up in all types of gatherings and activities, which are well-attended by family members, whether informal socials in the afternoons or special events throughout the year.
The people that run this particular location are downright awful. Not only are they discriminatory, but they also mistreat employees and residents constantly. They are negligent and unable to show empathy for anyone else. I would never leave someone I love in these people’s care.
I was trying to find a facility that would provide short term respite care (10 to 14 days in length) for my 97 year old mother. I contacted eleven different senior care facilities in my area and none of them said they offered that service. Then, I called the Oaks at Shiloh Point and they asked me to come visit them as they felt they could help.I sat down with Nicholas Bridges, Executive Director and Stephanie Tanner, Community Relations Director to discuss what I was looking for. Im my mothers fulltime caregiver, but wanted to find a way to have some time off. Nicholas indicated that normally, they take in non-residents for convalescence only, and those visits usually last 30 or more days. They hadnt done any short term respite care, but thought it would be good idea to give it a try. Nicholas said other people might also be interested in this type of service so he agreed to let my mom stay with them while I took a break. It worked out very well. It was affordable, Mom had a great time because she got out of the house, met some very nice people, and ate much better than she does at home with me. And... I had a chance to relax, catch up on some chores around the house, and even went camping for several days. It was wonderful!!If any caregivers are looking for a way to take a break and have some time to themselves, I highly recommend the new short term respite care offering from Oaks at Shiloh point.
I had the pleasure of being the Lead Occupational Therapist at Shiloh Point. The new management team is absolutely awesome! Nicholas is so genuine, caring, enthusiastic, fun and has a huge heart for the seniors. The team is so dedicated; all of them are in the building at all hours and days of the week! The building has come ALIVE with new furniture and programs to enhance the quality of the lives they serve. A great place to be.

2022-08-19My mom is doing so well at the Oaks at Shiloh Point. The staff is caring and friendly. The director is alway about interacting with the residents, not in an office with the door closed. All the staff is wonderful. I love how small the community is. My mom has made some nice friends. She is out of her room doing fun things every day. The staff takes care of me too. It’s not easy navigating good care for an elderly parent. I feel my mom is in the best place. I can sleep at night knowing she is well cared for.

2022-08-19My Aunt Evelyn was at Oaks at Shiloh Point for almost five years before her death two months ago at 95. We visited five different options for her before finding Oaks at Shiloh Point. Initially, she was pretty reluctant to leave her home, but after a few days there, she never had a second thought. The team there are consistently engaging, supportive and caring and really made her life better. Lots of activities, a great layout, and great food. Recommend them without a doubt!

2022-07-23My Mom has been at the Oaks at Shiloh Point about 5 months. There have been many changes in the management staff. The new energy is amazing. She is getting much more attention from additional caregivers that have been recently hired. The entertainment and activities are great and the caring staff encourage participation. Mom enjoys the quality of life she has at the Oaks and I trust she is in good hands when Im not there.

She was almost immobile and The staff was willing to take care of my mom and help her rebuild her strength..I am so thankful my sister found the Oaks at Shiloh Point.I am grateful to the loving staff like Chef Mo & Chef Steven who really care about what the residents want to eat. Laura and Rainey the nurses that take the time to know each resident personally. Mccayla the activity director works hard to find engaging activities for the residents. Stephanies warmth and welcoming heart help new residents and their families transition into the Oaks at Shiloh point community. The staff is not just competent but compassionate as well and is led by example by a great leadership team. We were fortunate to have found this place. My Mom loves it here! From the moment we step inside we knew it was going to be a great experience and we have not been disappointed.
