My dog has had surgery at Ocoee twice, each by a different veterinarian, & he recovered well each time. They fit him in quickly. I like the way they listen to my concerns & input. The front desk & techs are all so helpful & informative . They’re responsive to phone call questions & get quick answers, very important post-surgery. Not incredibly expensive.
We started using Ocoee after them being recommended by a good friend. The first trip for our new beagle pup for shots etc at our ‘local’ animal clinic was disastrous. The visit was for routine shots, worming etc. The very next day she became super ill. Couldn’t hardly even stand. Wouldn’t eat or drink. We took her back and was told she checked ‘likely positive’ for parvo. Also was given estimates for treatment which more than likely would fail anyway. As much as we loved our little girl we could not afford such extreme amounts and to be told she likely wouldn’t survive it anyway. The visits so far were costly almost beyond our means. And I almost got the impression we were being played a little bit. I asked how could she possibly have parvo, with symptoms so bad and quick the day after her shots. She was perfectly fine before that. I asked if it was possible she maybe had a reaction to all the shots which parvo was one of them. We were told pretty much it wasn’t possible and again given some paperwork with estimates for treatment and again told it was unlikely she would survive.I’ve never witnessed behavior like this from a vets office. We discussed It and decided to look after her as best we could at home. We had researched and found many cases of reactions to mixed vaccines and also possibilities of parvo symptoms after the shot.I don’t wish to go through all of it but I’ll say within two days of tending her ourselves and talking to knowledgeable people and researching everything we could online and elsewhere our little girl started drinking eating and finally walking etc on her own.I called and told them what was happening and they acted like they didn’t even want to see her. Even sent a tech to the car with paperwork stating what we would pay if they seen her. Needless to say when they finally DID see her they acted if they were in shock. A miracle.I asked them ok what is the official diagnosis of all this. And they finally said it was a reaction to all of the shots and also to the parvo shot itself.Sorry I wrote all that but here now was our experience at Ocoee. The next shots were due soon after all that. We had heard from so many people with similar experiences with that clinic. And Ocoee kept coming up as the favored one near us. One good friend in particular told me their pets would never go anywhere else. I spoke to them over phone and told them what our experience had been and they said they would be happy to tend to her and I’ll have to say they were great. After knowing what all we went through they informed us of everything they did. What to look for. And if any problems to bring her in immediately. I honestly felt she was being cared for instead of just an invoice. They also confirmed that some pups would have reactions. Especially if maybe given too many too young. I think it’s safe to say as long as Maggie needs any medical attention the Drs and techs at Ocoee will be looking after her.I really believe these folks care about their animal patients and that means a lot. We really appreciate them.
Brought my Pug in today for what I thought could be pneumonia while we’re vacationing in Blue Ridge. Dr. Farr and all of her staff were excellent in fitting my dog in for an urgent care appointment this morning and showing me the issue on the X-ray images they took. They were extremely busy today, as evidenced by the number of cute patients in the waiting room, but still took the time to treat my dog. I wish I lived in the area so the vets and staff could care for all of my pets back home.
We have been customers of Ocoee Animal Hospital since early 1998, and have used most of the Vets there, but our go to Vet over the years has always been Dr. Phillip Arnall. He has always shown compassion, is extremely knowledgeable yet leans toward conservative measures when treating our fur-kids when possible. When needed, he advises & discusses the matters at hand but ultimately leaves the decision making to you. The entire staff at the front desk areas and those in other positions have always been kind, friendly and willing to help. Its ***** 🌟 from us!!!
They were so patient and kind to our kitties. Our kittens were spayed and neutered here. They recovered quickly. I was concerned that my female cat might have problems with her incision so they sent me home with a collar to prevent her from lickng her wound just in case she did.For a large clinic, they are very personable and efficient.
They were very accommodating to my Cami. Even though we were not current patients, we were given a walk in time slot and seen promptly with minimal waiting. They even bring in a doctor specifically for work ins. The staff were all very professional and kind to both me and my pup. I would recommend this facility and I will continue to use their services.
I am so grateful to all at the Ocoee Animal Hospital!! We are from out of town and ran into a little emergency with my Cockapoo. I called and they immediately made room in their very busy schedule to see him. They were all very friendly and compassionate, they knew exactly the problem and fixed him immediately.Thank you all for helping us out we really appreciate all your help!!
Top notch! While on vacation our puppy needed emergency care. We were fortunate to find Ocoee. The care and professionalism provided by Dr. Belyeu and her staff was second to none. The costs were more than reasonable considering the extent of services provided. Customer service and communication was outstanding. If we lived in the area, this would be our regular vet. Thank Dr. Belyeu and staff.
Over the past year, we have entrusted the health of two of our dogs with Ocoee. Weve had nothing but great experiences. The dogs do not have to spend too much time in the lobby which eliminates some of their anxiety. One star removed because we were charged the emergency visit fee when we were just trying to make an appointment for our dog to be looked at. Im sure it was a simple mix up.
Ive taken my dogs to OAH for 10+ years and have always been satisfied with their care of my pets. We have used their boarding service as well as buy specialty food for my diabetic dog. I believe that our area is fortunate to have such a place to take care of our animals. Highly recommended!
This is our third time bringing our golden in for semi emergency services and they always work her in in what I consider to to be a short wait time. They are always very friendly caring courteous and professional not to mention very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them for all your vet needs. We have even started buying our three different types of pet food there as they are not any more expensive than anywhere online
This is a salt of the earth country vet. My loud and proud male German Shepherd is loved very much by the the entire staff. Our skittish female has a positive experience with them as well. They have a common sense approach-a good balance of nature and medicine. Thanks Ocoee
Blue Ridge, GA is blessed to have such a wonderful veterinary facility! We were visiting from Florida and our dachshund was displaying some medical issues. I called and without an appointment we were welcomed as a walk-in new patient. There was an additional fee for emergency visits but this was explained up front. We were treated like long term customers immediately upon arrival. The counter staff were ALL friendly and helpful. We only waited about 20 minutes to see the doctor. Dr. Des was terrific! Examined our dog, suggested testing options and let us decide on treatment. Tests were done, recommendations made, a 10 page written report provided to forward to our home vet. Truly an impressive facility! Thank you!
Our sweet terrier mix, Lucy, has been battling hot spots for several months which were thought by her previous vets to be primarily related to her thyroid and they were treating her with steroid injections, cortisone cream, and an occasional antibiotic. We are recent 1/2 time Blue Ridge residents. While in Blue Ridge this week, Lucy got worse so I asked Ocoee Animal Hospital if they could see her. They worked us in although they were booked solid. I must say that Lucy was given the most thorough evaluation and exam including blood and urine tests. Even before the lab results, she was given an antibiotic injection and medicated shampoo and my directions were to stop putting the cortisone and other creams on her. I also left with some special food to try. Dr. Day called the next day with lab results. They confirmed a systemic infection which the antibiotic injection would take take care of. Dr. Day also went over all of the other lab results in detail and what they meant. At this writing, Lucy is doing much better and I believe she is on the road to recovery. The clinic is well managed, well staffed, and I was very impressed with everyone I met. Will be using them as our primary vet from now on.
Our dog, Coco, was in dire need of leg surgery. Dr. Arnall and his staff were highly responsive to our needs. Their professionalism helped us feel at ease for the care she was going to receive and their reliable service was crucial to the success of the surgery. As a result, Coco is well on her way back to a normal and active life. Thank you Ocoee Animal Hospital.
Helped us when it was time to say good bye to my old pup. Everyone there was compassionate and respectful. They were very busy but went out of their way to fit us in so my guy would not have to suffer any longer. Highly recommended and will be my new regular Vet from this point forward.
Switching from another vet from negative incidents, I was hoping and praying this would be the best move for my furbabies. I brought in one of three of them, and Dr. Fran was great. All of the staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and so helpful. Dr. Fran spoke with me after seeing my girl and spent alot of time with us. Felt like we mattered and she really cared. Another one of my furbabies will be seeing her end of March and I couldnt feel better. Thanks to all at Oconee.!! Oh and they are busy so being patient at checkout is a plus!
We have been going to Ocoee Animal Hospital for close to 20 years with both our dogs. All the vets are wonderful and the staff is always friendly, helpful and patient. I have recommended this facility to friends who are as happy as I am with everyone. Will never go anywhere else with our pets.
My baby pup Ruby was able to get in with only 15 minutes notice for emergency care, they quickly took her in and got her fluids to help her stablize after I had a 3 day battle of trying to help her keep food and water down when she lost complete appetite I panicked knowing i couldnt afford the cost. But one phone call and the amazing office manager was able to reassure me of setting up a payment plan and got ruby in asap. She stayed over night so she can be watched by veterinary proffesionals to ensure best care possible. Im beyond grateful shes able to be there and they genuinely care about the animals, I called other vets expressing the urgency and they wouldnt even exam without up front payment of at least 100. Ruby is in their care and I know shes improving. I trust this staff with my whole heart. Theyve earned a customer for life.
Ignored me when I checked in because I was 10 minutes early and after sitting for 40 minutes, they didn’t have a clue who I was until I was leaving. Watched the vet we had an appointment with play with a deer that arrived after my appointment time. Guess the deer had more room on his Amex than me. That is some first class service. Way to waste peoples time.
Update: March 4, 2021: My dog, Brownie is an awesome dog, however, at the Vet she turns into an unknown dog.. I highly recommend Dr.. Belyeu for the highest award possible! The Dr., myself and Brownie was on the floor to cut her nails.. I do not have a small dog,, shes about 80lbs. Dr. Belyeu was so awesome and calm. Thank you very much for today!!! You get 100+All my pets go here and they love the treatment. They truly love pets and do not try to up prices or do tons of extra unneeded or unwanted services to pad the bill like the other one in Blue Ridge does. Ive been to both several times and Ocoee is the best and I will never take my pets elsewhere.
We were visiting from out of town and one of our dogs busted her nail. We called several veterinarians and everyone was booked. We called Ocoee AH. They said they were completely booked, but would work us in. When we arrived everyone was super nice. There was a sign advising of extremely long wait times for walk ins. We were prepared to wait. In less than an hour she had been seen by the doctor. I thought that was awesome. She needed a small surgical procedure...and they got her right in for that as well. All of the staff was super nice...both to me and to her. Despite being super busy, they to the time to patiently introduce themselves to her to make sure she was comfortable and at ease. And to top it off, the bill was reasonable.
Have used this vet service for several years The staff are A number 1 The Dr.s are the most kind and caring and very professional,I recently had to have my boy of 15yrs put down the kindness caring and compassion for me and Maverick was overwhelming the best. And the sympathy card they sent was exceptionally great. I thank you all for that. Now embarking on a new adventure with my new furry childTroublewill have these wonderful people to look after her health. If in the area you wont find betterMay God Bless you alwaysPatrick Sweeney
Beyond wonderful staff and quality of care! Weve been coming here over a decade. Even though we live in NC, Dr. Arnall is our primary vet. He is a wealth of knowledge and radiates care and compassion for our dogs. I cant say enough great things about OAH, they are fantastic!!
In February we took our dog here and they told us there was no hope for him and he should be put down. He had a lot of coughing and he also has enlarged heart. We were devastated. Unable to put our dog down we went for a second opinion. Ultimately he had a critical ear infection that caused glands to enlarge which in turn caused gagging. Yes he still has an enlarged heart but our dog is happy, loved and Alive!! The cruelty of these people baffles me. If you want great treatment don’t go here. Go to Dr Mitchell in McCaysville.
The Ocoee team are just wonderful. They see all of our dogs for their annual check ups and they have dealt with a couple of emergencies including a snake bite we had today. We are always seen within minutes and everyone from the front desk, to the vet tech to the doctor are kind and helpful. I fully recommend for your furbabies.
My husband and I just moved to the area and our cat needed a visit to the vet. We were recommended to the Ocoee Animal Hospital by a local friend we had made and I am so happy! My cat Conroy was a very special situation as he was very scared and his temperament can be a little unpredictable. The staff and the doctor listened to my concerns and requests very closely and with care. They took all the necessary precautions they could to make sure this experience went well for both Conroy and them. I can honestly say that I felt they cared and loved my animal just as much as I do! The doctor was very thorough with everything they had done and the reasonings for certain recommendations. It was such a pleasant experience for both Conroy and I. I will always take my pet there and will recommend the Ocoee Animal Hospital to everyone who has pet needs.
Weve been taking our two dogs to Ocoee Animal Hospital for over a year. During this time, the doctors and technicians side has remained very positive. The front desk administrative area needs to improve. Yesterday we waited 15 mins for our scheduled appointment and then about 45 mins after the vet visit to get our meds and bill - yes, 45 minutes. Please improve the front desk/administrative.Had a follow-up appointment with one of our dogs yesterday, 13 Nov 19. Appointment was for 1100, arrived at 1045 -- initial call to a room was 1130 without any comment from any employee prior to walking in to the room. Once in the room, the technician mentioned youve been waiting awhile without any apology or reason given. And then during checkout, Im glad I asked about the rabies tag and certificate as that wasnt in the paperwork ... so another little delay. Our time is valuable, too!
My mom has had multiple horrible experiences there with them lying to us about both of our dogs while in their care. The first time, it was our old dog that we boarded for a week and asked if he could be seen by a vet to see if he was doing okay because he was having trouble walking and declining in health. When we asked if he had been seen, they looked at each other and said “oh yeah he said he was totally fine!” And we got a weird feeling that they weren’t telling the truth. Well he died a few weeks later. The second time was with my little dog. My mom was watching him and they had an unexpected trip come up. Took him to Ocoee animal hospital to be boarded. Now, we both know that he is a different dog when he’s stressed. He won’t even eat when mom or myself is not home and he just mopes around. So we didn’t expect him to eat a lot or be very upbeat. Upon picking him up, they said “he did so well! He ate all his food and was happy the whole time!” We thought this was weird because that’s very unlike him. When she brought him home, he ate all his food very fast and threw up all day. She emailed and called multiple times to ask for his records because she felt she had been lied to about him eating well. They didn’t respond for MONTHS until they finally sent it over saying he had eaten “a little” at every feeding (confirming that they had lied to my mom), did not even apologize or own up but said we weren’t welcome there anymore. Absolutely disgusting service and makes me nervous for any of the sweet pets left in their care.Hopefully I can get my mom to write a review so it brings their rating down. And the worst part is that the dr was my little brother’s soccer coach a few years ago and can’t even say “I’m sorry my staff lied to you” to an old friend to save business and dignity.
What a wonderful place to take your pet! We were in Blue Ridge, vacationing, when our dog Dottie went down with a back/neck issue. We were seen right away, and Dottie received top-notch care. Since we were out-of-town and could not get back home to Missouri for a few days, Dr. Belyeu went over and above by staying in constant communication with us to get us through that time until we got Dottie home where she could have surgery. We will be moving to Blue Ridge next year and are happy to have found a veterinarian clinic we can trust. Thank you again to everyone at Ocoee Animal Hospital!
We have been coming to Ocoee Animal Hospital for the last 4 years. We usually see Dr. Arnall and love him, but came yesterday and saw a young lady Dr. Des (I dont want to butcher her name). My little Peanut was a pooping nervous wreck and between her and the vet tech they took great care of her. I recommend Ocoee Animal Hospital to all my co workers (the casino) and friends. It is very nice and assuring to know we have knowledgeable, profressional, and caring vets in our area.
I love this place. I have read disparaging reviews about this hospital, but I have never experienced anything but good service. My dog was immediately seen after a hard, money draining night at the emergency vet. As I made the heart wrenching decision to put her to sleep Dr. Miske cried along with me. We were also told we could pay later so we wouldnt have to worry about it then. Dr. Belyeu, is another great vet. She has worked with me in trying to find the cause of my dogs allergies. I was not billed for the follow-up appointment and the cost of the meds were put on a payment plan thanks to Ms. Wanda, the office manager. Last, but certainly not least, Dr. Zager. He saved my dogs life when she got ahold of rat poison. When Appalachian Animal Hospital did nothing but send her back home we took her to Ocoee. We called and left a message on their emergency line and met Dr. Zager in the middle of the night at the clinic. He proceeded to go to work and save her life (she lived to 16yo). He even brought one of his own dogs just in case mine needed a blood transfusion. I have never trusted a clinic or the staff like I do this one. Like I said I love this place. They are amazing!!!
Can’t say enough about the great treatment that Dr. Michael Zager gave to my Ewe Sheep named Tippy and my Mini Donkey named Mr. Bean. I found Dr. Zager to be professional and very care giving. I found the cost for his farm visit to be fair. I will definitely call upon his services in thr future, thanks again Dr. Zager!
We were in blue ridge on vacation over labor day weekend. Our puppy Rocky had been sick before we left home and was on meds from a vet that was able to get him in asap. Rocky became very sick and lethargic when we.got to blue ridge. OCOEE got us in asap and dr arnall was amazing! He took such great care of our rocky boy, he spent over an hr with us. I could tell he was very concerned and cared about our baby. He even called for a check up the next morning because he was worried and had rocky on his mind all night. I wish we lived there so they could be our everyday vet!!! I am beyond thankful for the ocoee animal hospital and dr arnall.Update: rocky had a follow up today with his vet back home and he is on some special gastrointestinal food, got some fluids and another new medication. We still arent 100% better, but he is slowly getting better and back to his normal spunky self.
While visiting the area with our horses in October, one horse stepped on a copperhead and was bitten. We took the horse to Ocoee Animal Hospital. We were met promptly and the horse was quickly looked at. Fortunately it was a dry bite so no damage to the horse. However, being from FL, snakebite, and first time visit I was expecting a temendous bill. I was surprised to have a very, very fair bill. Service was excellent and every single person there was nice.
We had a ewe trying to lamb and the lamb was breached. I called every vet I could find and every one of them said tough luck. Finally I found this vet and was called by Mike Zager who came out that day. Very knowledgeable and great with the animals. Answered all of our questions very thoroughly and just a nice guy all around. There are very few things in the world more valuable that a good vet when you value your animals like we do. Thanks Dr Zager!
Vacationing in Blue Ridge, called this vet to try to get my min pin in to get her checked for not eating and drinking. ..the receptionist was very RUDE, would not even suggest what we might do, could not get her in before they closed at noon. I told her thanks for nothing and called VCA Animal Hospital in Ellijay and was told to bring her in and they would be glad to check her out. You dont want to hear rudeness when your animal is sick!!!
I was referred to this vet because they do house calls and we have an alpaca that needs a visit for some skin issues. I called and asked if we could schedule a house call with Dr. Zager and the lady who answered the phone was quite rude. Her exact response was:Nope, not possible. Hes not in and wont be for a week.Me: Um ok thanks?Pretty poor/rude customer service if you ask me. Im not usually one to complain, but come on. At least suggest scheduling in a week?
My three grown dogs and three puppies were patients at this hospital. The puppies had all their shots at their clinic. When they were a little over 6 months I boarded them there. The three puppies were boarded together and within a week of returning them home, two of the puppies died of parvo. The doctors denied that it couldnt be parvo so they did sanitize the facility, the kennel, the cage the dogs were held in while being treated and they were in the same area as others dogs when they were sick. It was confirmed it was parvo but the refused to let me see the report. I paid for the boarding, I paid for the dogs treatment and nothing. I sent them a letter they never responded. When I took the other dogs in to be tested one of the tech assistant said something about them having been inbread, like they were worthless. This was not true but I was shocked. My determination is that they didnt give them all the shots although I took them there and paid for the shots, then refused to admit it, and never spoke to or apologized to me for killing my two puppies. You never expect to kennel your dog at your vet and it would die.

2022-05-22Ocoee Animal Hospital is my vet of choice in Blue Ridge!! Always great care for my boys in a timely manner. In 2020, I had a crippling accident and needed emergency boarding for my two dogs. They took them, without hesitation, and kept them safe and well cared for during the five weeks it took me to get home!! I called almost everyday from rehab and was cheerfully connected with the folks in charge of boarding. I knew my two guys were being loved on and cared for until they could come home! I won’t take my guys anywhere else… I hope they realize what a difference they made in my recovery!!!!♥️♥️♥️

2022-07-05Best veterinary experience in a long while. They saw my pup same day when we were in the throes of an apparent emergency. Our regular veterinary practice, where we have been clients since 2006, declined to see our pup (first said they couldn’t see her for two weeks, then said their computers were down 🙄 and suggested we seek assistance from another practice). Well, Ocoee and Dr. Strickland to the rescue!! The staff was awesome and so accommodating and Dr. Strickland was thorough and informative, providing excellent care for our aging girl. Have since requested that all of our records (13 dogs, 2 pigs, 3 cats and one hamster) be transferred to Ocoee. It’s a bit of a drive for us (Ellijay to Blue Ridge) but worth it for a veterinary practice that actually cares for your furry family and recognizes that an emergent situation can’t wait two weeks!

2022-05-17This was my first visit to this animal clinic just to pick up my parents Abyssinian & the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable. A lovely young lady helped me get Lorenzo & all his stuff in a couple minutes. I own a 2.5yo male mixed cymeric breed. Hes been having issues throwing up wet food & drinking a lot of water. They were able to schedule an appointment immediately with really good pricing. I highly recommend this vet to anyone that loves their animals like our family. Thank you OAH 🥰

2022-04-28The best office in Blue Ridge! I was hesitant about switching from Copper Basin Vet to Ocoee but it has been the best decision! The care and time they put into making my dog feel comfortable is amazing. Compared to previous vet visits I’ve had at surrounding clinics Ocoee goes above and beyond! No unreasonable or unnecessary charges, they truly have my pets best interest at heart!

2022-02-12We had a dog emergency and they took me right in. I was waiting in the parking lot when they opened with no appointment and they worked me in immediately. Great service and even followed up with a phone call to check on her after she was released from the hospital.

2022-04-14We LOVE Ocoee Animal Hospital! The staff are friendly and helpful; the vets are knowledgeable and explain things thoroughly; and, they have always worked us in when we needed immediate care without an appointment. I wouldnt go anywhere else! They are the best.

2022-07-10Originally I gave this business 5 stars. After using this vet for several years, I believe it is time to move to a new practice. The original vets have retired and the new ones dont even bother looking at the pets record before seeing them. I had to wait 45 minutes before my pet was seen even with an appointment. Their prices have gone way up. I understand this is necessary because of the economy, but dont feel my pet is getting the care she needs and not worth the extra charges. This is no longer the 1978 practice that it originally was. It was bought out by VetCor a huge Veterinarian Corporation in 2020 and has gone downhill since. The front desk staff are very rude.

2022-06-15Edited: My girl, Altie has been a patient since she was given to me in July 2008. I have felt blessed that Altie has been a pretty healthy little one, not requiring much more from Ocoee than her yearly exams, blood work and needed meds and supplements. She is now 16 and getting older and slower...requiring meds for joints and proper nail trims. Our history with Ocoee began years ago with Dr Day and Dr Zager who were always wonderful when our Dad needed their help with our farm animals. I appreciate all the kindness shown in previous visits to Altie and myself by Dr. Fran, Darlene, Lisa, Cookie and other technicians and veterinarians. Our last visit on Friday 6/10/22...was not a good one. However, it was due only to bad performance from some of the reception staff. But in writing my initial review, I cast a bad reflection on the whole establishment. And that was unfair to all the Others who have worked so hard for so many years to make Ocoee Animal Hospital a wonderful place. And for the past 14 years Altie and I have left there very pleased with her care.I am forever grateful to Dr Fran who took so much time with Altie, my brother and I on her last checkup in February and explained things to watch for as my little girl is now in her golden years. I so appreciate your service to us and the whole Tri-State Area.In closing, I understand front line service to the public...as I have been and happily still am working in a people helping people industry for the past 37 years. Front line employees are the face of any establishment and should always act accordingly.
