Osaka Japanese Seafood in other cities:
We have eaten there fairly regularly in the past and enjoyed the food. We came today for the first time since they opened back up due to Covid, looking forward to their food. When I approached the door I read a sign that said a 15% gratuity would be added to all checks, I turned and left. Gratuities are given for good service. The better the service, the better the gratuity. Patrons should be left to tip according to their means and the quality of service rendered. Imposed gratuities only lead to poor service. We will not be back until this policy is changed.
The service was absolutely terrible and it was our first time eating here. My family waited about 20 minutes for a table, even though there was tables available, on top of that I had to ask if we were able to sit down, because they kept walking past us I guess forgetting that we were standing in the lobby. Once we were settled, we waited an additional 30 minutes in order to eat, however a chef was done at the table near by us and didn’t come to our table so we ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes for the other chef to finish with the other customers. The other chef that was working another table came to us after he was done. He didn’t give us a show, and he just cooked our food in silence. He had cut the chicken to early and it was still raw, I waited to see if he would cook it through, I had to ask him to cook the chicken longer before he put the teriyaki sauce. My grandmother ordered shrimp and he tried to give it to my husband who has a shrimp allergy. This place also force you to tip whether the service was good or not. I do not recommend eating here. I did not feel welcomed. It felt as though they tended to other customers better than they did my family. It was literally 4 of us, myself, my son, my husband and my grandmother.
The people were nice , clean facility- but the chairs and table are low, and if you scoot up, you will bump your knees. The “boss” cooked our meal & put on no show whatsoever 🙄. We were told that he normally does not cook. When we asked why there was no show /performance... we were told that he was trying to hurry. We brought people with us to let them experience hibachi for their first time and it was nothing but a huge disappointment
Food was absolutely amazing. Crew was very short staffed so things took a bit longer than some people would appreciate, however we didnt mind and werent disappointed at all by the service given during the extended wait time for food and definitely not by the food upon arrival. The only thing that I could be upset with was that I couldnt take the table and chairs in the sushi room home with me 😀.
I wish I could put a 0 down. After we (2 of us) waited for 20 mins with 4 other guest who have been sitting there an hour. The salad and soup was not good. Neither of us ate it. We drank maybe 1/4 of our beverages and the whole table decided to walk out. As we were leaving the owner chased down our car and took the tag number. We turned around since we dont want any legal trouble. The owner confronted me while he was cutting up sushi for customers in front of him. Was very rude, got very heated and told me to leave if I dont like the price and he would call the police on me. More heated words were said as a large number of people were walking in. I told the owner if he shut up I would pay and leave. But he kept on telling me to leave so he could call the police on me. Finally I handed the waitress my card and told her to please run it so I could leave. They have 1 hired cook and the owner cooks. The workers are over worked due to being under staffed and you can tell they are definitely not appricated. In short: Stay away from this place if you expect a timely and friendly served meal. The owner is the worst part about this place!!
Completely dissatisfied the past 3 times I’ve visited. First off he didn’t cook any egg until my sister spoke up about it not to mention the yum yum was soured or something and completely water like. Disgusting I took one bite and ended up not eating any more off my plate. The shrimp was over cooked. The only thing good was my filet but after pouring the yum yum on all of it it was no longer worth eating. The chairs were disgusting and sticky. Not to mention the manager being a little too cocky and arguing with me about the yum yum. Will not go back and DONT RECCOMEND. When we usually go to a Japanese steak houses we take every bit of our leftovers home and definitely did not take any of it home lastnight for my moms birthday dinner.
Sushi was good. However they failed to tell us that no matter the size of your party gratuity is included. Overpriced, skip this one. Come on son.We got to-go orders which is a large part of the bill thus hiking up the gratuity for something we were carrying out anyway.Updating my review. Went back for another visit. While I do still think they are slightly overpriced, this is the only game in town for sushi and the fried rice is absolutely amazing.
Ordered steak and salmon. Salmon was burnt because the cook kept leaving the grill. Left our grill four times to be honest. When I discussed with how I felt about my salmon he began to argue about the situation and tell me the salmon was fine. Even ask other customers around the Grill what they thought. Not their opinion on the food Im going to eat and never should you ever argue with the customer. When we got our bill they tried to add sushi to our bill. Not a good experience. Want be back!
It would be OK to stop by with the family or friends to just eat. But for a date night, completely lacks atmosphere. Bright lights, no music. Food was good, but the seafood portions were really small. Came with noodles as well as rice, which was different and they had a nice flavor. Server and chef would rather have been somewhere else, but were competent.
Worst experience here yet. Normally its a great place but this evening was the exception. Food was burnt, even the eggs. My salmon was way over cooked. Despite 3 kids being with us, the cook didnt do any of the performance they are known for, and that was the whole reason we went, since it was my nieces birthday. Waitress never returned to refill drinks until she brought our check, and we were never offered dessert.
I stopped eating here years ago after seeing two roaches in the dining area. I gave this place a shot again after one of my friends swore that it had improved. It was.... eh. The food was fine. But considering how much it all cost I expected it to be fantastic, and not just fine. The bathrooms were dirty, the atmosphere was unpleasant, and for some reason there were only two waitresses working while there were six packed hibachi tables.
The worst service ever ! Tried to make a phone order the guy couldn’t get my phone number right 4 times. So we just said don’t worry about the phone number please just take the order .... well the guy got mad and hung up on my wife. So disrespectful! They will never get any of our money again!
My visits here have declined recently but this one was the absolute worst. The waitress hasseled us about being finished with our food and getting our check. We waited 45 minutes for the hibachi cook and I got my rice at the end of the meal. We were enjoying our bottle of wine and she asked no less that 5 times if we were finished. Then once she put the check down she wanted us to cash out and go home. No fun!
Arrived this evening at 840 and didnt even have a server greet us at all our drink order until 9pm. There were not any clean dishes and the kitchen was literally bringing ito individual plates and silverware utensils as they were washed. Party next to us had been sitting since 8pm and were just being given their salad and soup. Our table asked how long it was going to be and were told 30 more minutes before a chef even came to our grill. After hearing this, my party as well as the other party seated at our table walked out.
Arrived at 7:38pm, we were sat at 7:59pm, food was finished at 9:43pm. By 9:50 pm they were asking if we wanted to-go boxes because they closed at 10pm. Whats funny is they were not terribly busy and they had 3 cooks, but only one was working on the floor at a time. Any one used to a traditional Habachi experience will be sorely disappointed as the cooks put on NO show whatsoever. The owner/manager did not care one bit that we had been waiting over 2 hours, only care he had was being dismissive of customers paying well over $100 tickets and getting us out the door by 10pm. He kept saying over and over again ”I told you busy, you understand”. In fact, NO, I dont understand a rude manager, mediocre food, a bill over $100, and a 2hr+ wait time in a restaurant that was no busier than a typical Douglasville restaurant is on a Saturday night! The waitress was very nice, but Id be interested to see what the labor board thought of thier clearly underage staff.
From the moment you step in that restaurant the personel give you a great feeling. Very hospitable hosts, it is a kind restaurant to to go out with your friends or with your date. delicious food, qualified chief cook and stuff, modest price and generous service. Warmly recommended.
We literally stood at the door for 15 min and watched as the workers walked past and the guy making the sushi and talking never even tried or attempted to recognize us or at least tell us to give him or them a few minutes so we left as a restaurant they should make customers priority and have the audacity to at least recognize and greet
Went for a family members birthday. Have eaten here several times. Not sure why they dont put on the whole show anymore and the portions seem smaller than they used to be especially for the price you pay. Still the food was good just a little disappointed about the portion sizes and the show.
We came here to celebrate my daughter’s 10th birthday. They were willing to accommodate our large party. My daughter has a severe peanut allergy but since we watch them prepare our food in front of us we were not concerned. I don’t normally eat there so I was not familiar with the noodles. Evidently the noodles are cooked with a peanut sauce. We only found out after my daughter started having an allergic reaction. The chef felt bad and apologized but they did not offer to cook her a new meal so we ended up paying for a meal she couldn’t eat. Her food was cooked on the same surface as the noodles. The owner didn’t feel like it was a big deal. When I suggested that he post an allergy notice he responded that Asian restaurants don’t always do that. I reminded him that posting allergy information might prevent someone from dying and that my child could die from this and his response was just ok. It was sickening that he had such a lack of concern for his customers. I am just thankful that today, God has his hand on my daughter because it looks like she is going to be ok.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST RESTAURANT!!!!!!!The food was awful! The bathrooms were squalid at best. The general cleanliness of the entire location was, in short, disgusting! The service was pitiful as our server was more than just absent minded but totally absent. When we had question about an order, the Chinese (Not Japanese - Id know since I lived there) who was quite condescending let me know as a native born person that if I didnt under stand he would read the menu to me cause this is America!. REALLY???? Last time I checked, Charlie No-Green Card, who was not born here wants to be rude to me and claim I havent an idea about my own country when hes a visitor and attempt to school me about Japanese food when hes Chinese? If you want some modicum of palatable sushi, go over to Kroger. SAVE YOUR MONEY, SANITY AND TIME, DONT GO TO THIS DUMP!!!!!
Ive seen a lot of bad reviews, but Ive never had a problem with this place. Service has always been good, foods always been good, and yes, the cook takes a little long to get out, but its no where near an hour. I think the other reviews are solitary cases, because Ive been to Osaka time and time again, and Ive had minimal problems. Great place to go out to eat.
Good Food but they need to work on cleanliness and the service. When my family went they told us they couldnt make sushi bc they only had one guy doing it and there were to many orders therefore they lost money not only from us but others as well on top of that our waitress was so busy that after the soup and salad our table area was crowded with empty dishes bc she didnt have time to come get them bc she was the only one there trying to handle 4 sections on her own. I hate to say it but we wont be visiting again unless there are some major changes
I took my Mom here for Mothers Day. We had a great time. She got the Filet Mignon and Scallops and I had the Shrimp and Scallops. The food was excellent and came with fried rice and lo mein noodles. Before our main food they brought us each a house salad and a Japanese soup/broth. After dinner they brought us each a small bowl of sherbet. All the food was delicious and the atmosphere was excellent as well. The chef was a real pro on the grill and made us feel at home. Sorry that we didnt get his name. Thank you, Osaka, for a perfect Mothers Day feast!
Delicious steak and shrimp! Always my favorite ... thought the chicken is good too. The location is a bit odd, tucked in the back corner of an old shopping center, but the food is really good. Ive always received decent to very good service, sometimes a bit less wonderful when the restaurant is packed and there are only two or three servers (but that is because of understaffing and just the general fact that some servers are better than others, hopefully the good ones will stay and the ones who just arent cut out for waitressing will find other jobs. ) Anyway, I know we all have different experiences but I find some of the extremely negative reviews to be a bit extreme. Maybe they just had a very different experience than Ive had, or maybe they have very different expectations ... but for me, the food at Osaka is very good to great and service is acceptable to very good. (One suggestion - be sure to double check the menu if you are ordering unfamiliar dishes & sushi ... point if you have to ... the Carrollton-local-UWG-student servers probably dont know/speak Japanese any better than you or I do ... dont risk it.)
Worse Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at. Long wait, really rude manager(?) , severely understaffed, small portions, too high priced. Crammed my family on a table at least three people too small. Fried rice was bland, chicken was tasteless and steak was over cooked. I felt sorry for the waitress she was working the whole floor, but was friendly.
I would give it less than a one star but that isnt an option. We did not even order after my Husbands drink was given to another customer. After the drink was sipped on, the waiters only changed the straw and gave it back to my husband. If they do that were you are able to see them do it What else will they do that you cant see.
We waited over an hour for 6 sushi rolls. I went and asked the owner about what was taking so long for the rolls. He said that he was working on them and that I could come and help make them. I think for an owner to be that disrespectful is not just unprofessional but extremely rude.
The hibachi was really good but do not order sushi. It takes forever for them to make it (the hibachi guy had cleaned up by the time they brought the sushi out) and the sushi is honestly not even that good. Especially for the price. So if youre wanting sushi go somewhere else, but if you want hibachi youre in the right place.
Ive been there before and the manager got in a yelling argument in front of the whole restaurant with a customer and talked about taking things outside. And today I ordered to go and the manager was very pushy and rude on the phone while I was ordering like he was trying to get me off the phone. It was no more than a 2 minute conversation. When I finally got there it took a while to get my food and when I did he sarcastically told me to grab a to go menu so that I could know what I wanted before I called. I will not be back.
Oh. My. When your gas-station-sushi-eating husband can’t eat the sushi, it is beyond bad. Nasty does not describe the place: filthy restrooms, tables, walls, and floor. The salad was wilted and brown, but the ginger dressing would have ruined anything it touched. The nigiri was warm and tasted sour. The ginger was gross. The wasabi was straight out of the tube from Kroger. Exceptionally low quality food. My mistake was not listening to my little voice in the parking lot and leaving.
I wish I could give this place a zero!! To begin with it smelled funny in main entrance. Once seated. All tables were full. Once waitress came, she took our drink order. Delivers drinks and she explained that there were only two waitresses and only Two cooks? Ok??? So we ask how long it will be? She said I will find out and took our order. We sit there looking around and come to realize no one is eating, REALLY?? She finally comes back and we ask again how long it will be? is there more people coming in? What is the deal? We start to do the math and ask how long it takes to cook for one table. Im guessing a good 20 mins. So basically we would be waiting for at least 3 hours to just be started. I politely told her, Oh no!!! We will not be waiting, as the other family seated with us agreeded. She said well let me check and she came back a couple of minutes later and said well I will get you a bill for the drinks!!!! We havent even taken 2 sips. REALLY??? Come on this is a joke right?? The waitress didnt even know her bosses name. This is very sad for an establishment to be like this. To top it off it was Mothers Day!! So Happy Mothers Day to me 😡 DO NOT GO HERE!!
DO NOT EAT HERE. They are ran unprofessionally. I saw a roach on the wall. They have a 14 year old cooking in the kitchen. They fired my Fiance because she asked a customer of they wanted a to-go box while they were still eating and the boss got mad and said she was trying to rush the customers out. I would leave no stars if I could.
Not impressed by the food quality nor the chef at the table. Messed up the order some and most of the food was just drowned in different sauces. Was served in the following order rice>noodles>meat>vegetables>desert instead of the main elements together so you got stuffed from the rice and noodles before you got the main ingredients.
I have been to Osaka a few times and each experience has ranged from mediocre to unpleasant.Until now.Last night was appalling. With the exception of the entertaining hibachi chef and good fried rice (which he obviously prepared), this place is a trainwreck. From the lack of atmosphere, to the service staff that doesnt want to be there, to the tasteless and arguably spoiled sushi rolls, Im honestly surprised this place still exists. However, by far the worst part of the evening was the customer service, which was reminiscent of Dave Chapelles painfully funny bad customer service skit. Our server, who looked stressed and scared the entire night, told us during our dinner that she had been singled out by the manager as a stupid American girl four times during her shift before she had even taken our table. We had asked to sit in the Hibachi area because the couple we were dining with were interested in getting food other than sushi - they ended up changing their minds but I ordered fried rice to warrant us being there (in the past they have tacked on $2 service fees onto everyones tabs for sitting in the Hibachi area - they did not this time). My friends fiancé ordered the Bubba Roll without mayo because she is allergic - they brought her the roll with mayo. After sending it back, the manager told his server to simply scrape it off. They eventually complied and remade the order.I ordered the Carrollton Roll and Spider Roll. My rolls were inedible - they didnt taste good or even fresh. I ended up bringing this to the attention of the manager who after shirking off my complaint told me that maybe I had eaten too much. I didnt even eat half of my order. He said that it was fresh and that he eats it every day. He then proceeded to quiz me on what I had ordered because he obviously did not believe I knew what a Spider Roll was.. No apologies, no credit, nothing. Our server was obviously frazzled because she was the only server in the restaurant, and she later disappeared. When we went to pay, we asked the manager where she had gone, and he said that she was sick and left. Yes, she was sick of being ridiculed by you.Attention Carrollton - this establishment is not only customer-unfriendly, its racist. Do not go here. Do yourself a favor and support an establishment that not only makes good sushi but is nice to its patrons. If you are wanting good, authentic Japanese food, go to Tokyo or even Honk Kong but dont waste your money here. I know I wont.
We ordered soft shell crab and agedashi tofu. Tofu was ok but everything was soggy. All of the vegetables, the tofu, and the crab was soggy and we only live 5 minutes away. The sauce they gave us was too salty. Soy or ponzu sauce is never to be so salty that it makes your bland food worse. Yes, our food was bland! The breading didnt add anything, especially since it was soggy! Crab tasted like I was eating livers. Left a metallic iron like taste. Everything tasted like it wasnt fresh. Mainly the crab. Im not even sure it was crab to be honest. Worst in Carrollton!
How very interesting, these reviews. I learned to eat sushi at the hands of a man from Okinawa; he had actually trained to become a Sushi Master. Yes, art form is still revered in some places! From that time, to this, Osaka in Carrollton, GA has been the closest Ive found to this Masters sushi house; the food, excellent, the service, excellent ... Ive never been disappointed. If you want traditional fare? This is an excellent place to find it. If you want the sanitized, Americanized version, where you pay for and get fast sushi? Go somewhere else. I no longer live in Georgia ... when Im here to visit? I still make a point to go there, and the experience is still as good as ever it has been.
I ordered my food, they told me a 20 minutes wait. I got there 35 minutes later, my food was not ready. Not only was my food not ready, nobody came to the front for 10 minutes, I had to call the store, while standing in the lobby, twice. Whoever answered the phone came to the front and was being very rude, I was only trying to pay for my food.

2022-05-14Nothing but a great experience from the time we walked in the door. Restaurant was very clean and appeared dated but well kept. We were seated immediately (which was surprising for a Friday night). Service was excellent, and all of the staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The Hibachi Chef put on an awesome show and the food was cooked perfectly. Great value for the amount of food (3 out of 4 of us took half or more of ours home)! The restaurant filled up while we were there, but the staff kept everything flowing smoothly. One of the better Hibachi restaurants Ive been to, and well definitely be back to try the sushi - it looked amazing!

2021-05-09I have been to a bunch of hibachi places. This place was pretty good. The hibachi show was very enjoyable and fun. The chef did a great job. The food was good and you get rice and noodles. I didnt like having to extra for fried rice. The salad and soup were both good. A little on the pricey side for hibachi but you do get dessert.

2022-05-28The food was great. Service was good but they added gratuity to our check. I have had it added with a larger group but we only had two people in our group.

2022-04-06It was cool and the cooks were funny, but the food itself wasn’t anything special the fried rice and the noodles are kind of bland with the only flavor standing out is the oil they’re fried with. It wasn’t so great but it wasn’t bad either, although it is pretty expensive for the food you get.

2022-06-13Good food. Large portion. Entertaining chefs. They don’t do lunch portions in the weekend but that isn’t printed on the menu. Too much food for a lunch so we paid a lot but had leftovers.

2022-07-17Great food and drinks, best sushi in Carrollton too. It is quite pricey and although the service is generally great, it seems like you will be easily forgotten if you dont do hibachi and dont sit at the sushi bar.

2022-01-23While the hibachi performance is good, the food itself is serviceable, but kind of mediocre.Theyre extremely understaffed for the kind of through traffic they get, and we sat at our table for about half an hour before they took our order. It was another hour until the hibachi chef actually came out to cook, and the full house felt quite claustrophobic in the meantime. The decor isnt good either, with everything feeling more than a little slapdash and under-maintained. Couple this with the price, and the chef himself was probably the only saving grace.Add on top of that the MANDATORY 15% gratuity, and its really not worth it.

2021-12-18The place was really dark when we walked in and it smelled horrible but I still decided to give it a go, as we followed the server we had to pass through these curtains to get to the next room where we were being seated at. These curtains were so grimy after touching them I immediately went to the restroom to wash my hands and to no surprise it was just as awful, it looked like it hadnt been cleaned in at least a year. I would like to say the food was decent but I cant even bring my self to describe what it tasted like. Something Major needs to be done in this restaurant ASAP.

2022-05-28Steak was extremely tuff and chewy. Everything else was good. Service was good too... Will try again but hopefully steak will be better..
