Was disappointed, had the royal oysters. It felt like I was eating rocks in oysters. No compensation by staff. Waiter said it was grit. The gumbo taste like rice and gravy, not gumbo. Female waiter does not know how to say “your welcome.” She took pins out of her hair for us to sign our tab.
Came here tonight at around 8pm. We were the only customers in the place. Waitress was very attentive but the food was very bland and over fried. Both of us ordered the combo with white fish, shrimp, and chicken tenders. We also had 1/2 dozen oysters which were 9.99 😑 but they were good. The beer was a bit flat and the bloody mary didnt have much flavor. All in all, the service was great but the food sucked.
Unless you like to drink in a bar setting, yes I know the name is a bar, but trust me, its no family restaurant. Im sure it was probably the best seafood place in town. My parents and I went in here and we could barely hear ourselves think. Im 25 and sometimes enjoying a nice quiet dinner is is good but the music was up so loud it was crazy. We sat down and took about 2 minutes for the waiter to finally get up from the bar, she looked like she was a customer getting up from the bar. nice lady but Im sure we were an inconvenience to her because she slumped over to the table throwing down the menus. Also the entire time we were here the employees and the bar patrons starred at us like we were crazy coming in here as a family. we did not even order drinks because we were not even gonna consider eating, we just could not hold a conversation without yelling. we got up and told the waiter we were not gonna eat. she said that fine, one less thing for me to do and that is why Im writing my first review on here. So all in all it might have been the best seafood in town or the world but we were not going to stick around to find out. I gave one star because they did a really good job on there website, and the other star for the fact they could be the best and only seafood place in town.
So, Im a little partial here so Ill try and not be. Any place that sells fresh oysters is top on my list. Not only are their oysters fresh, but they are huge! And you can have them anyway you want. I love them raw, but you dont have to get them that way. Also, their burgers are huge. Their red snapper is AMAZING. The owners walk around and make sure your visit is good and they genuinely care about your visit. The bartenders are friendly and always have a smile. Best dang restaurant experience in Columbus, Ga.
My husband and I went early Saturday. Before 5pm so we could get some oysters and a cold beer. When we got there very few people. We sat at high top and our server came over. We ordered dozen oysters and 2 beers. We were told they didnt have anyone that knew how shuck so it would be 2 hr wait. So we ordered the shrimp appetizer 2 beers. Took a hot min to get that! Now the shrimp was battered and fried with the shell on them.. Our server doing a shot with one of the customers. Not Cool! We called her over and explained the situation with shrimp. Offered to redo but we drank our beer and left...WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!
Definitely overpriced for what you get! A dozen oysters on a half shell, a basket of fries and a salad was $30.00! My salad had old lettuce that was brown in it. The tomatoes tasted soggy like they were a few days old. Loved Oyster Bay before, not sure what changed but it went down hill. My husband and I will not be returning. I also thought I saw one of the crew drinking behind the bar as well.
Lunch menu - their meat and three vegetables - is as good as youll find in this city.Huge portions, very reasonable prices, and a pretty good staff when they have enough folks working. This is my only complaint - owners should belly up and simply pay a couple more wait staff and they would make a lot of people happy. And, before you walk in, you have to understand - this is a bar - but its not noisy or obnoxious - but its still a bar. Youll have a table of nice old ladies with blue hair enjoying their lunch and conversation and the regulars doing the same, just firing back a few cocktails, a few beers, and a shot. The food is good and there is plenty of it. and the prices are a lot better than others in town.
So Fathers Day 2020 my girlfriend went to pick me up some oysters. She went unacknowledged and people come in afterwards and are greeted and served. You would think that being the only black person in the restaurant would standout and I guess itdid in more ways than one. I will never eat there or recommend this place again.
Stacey was a great server and very friendly. The mashed potatoes were instant and nasty. The food overall was not great. The sweet tea was good. Will try it again to see if it was a one time thing. There was only Stacey and a guy in the back cooking. No other employee. Getting the food was slow.
Not sure why their even bothered to open. The day I went they were out of oysters. Imagine that, an oyster bar out of oysters! They were also out of crab legs and tuna. Their menu online shows that they serve steak but it was crossed out on the menu. Waitress said they stopped offering that a while ago. We went elsewhere. To be fair, the waitress seemed as frustrated as we were. She was very accomadating and apologetic.
As far as this restaurant is concerned, our waitress Chelsey was absolutely wonderful. She worked extremely hard to make sure that her customers received great service. However, we were told numerous times we would only have to wait about 30minutes for a table, that then turned into an hour wait. After that, we waited almost 45minutes for our appetizer and then we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food only for it to be horrible. The manager was extremely rude and unapologetic for his crappy cook and service. Would not go back and would not recommend it.
Food was ok. Raw oysters were about the size of a nickel. 16.99 for a dozen. Fish wasnt quite done on 3 out of 5 baskets. Hushpuppies were good but the slaw was in a cup with 2 small bites in it and it was so old that it was turning pink. Waitress needs to find a new profession. Wont be back.
The best oysters! The grilled Captains platter was delicious. Im so glad they have a grill or fried option. Side choices included healthy options as well. Definitely a party atmosphere. Would have given a 5 star if the price matched the amount of food given. But would go back for more oysters!
I enjoy going here. It was the best decision I could have made. The oysters were so fresh I had to order two different flavors and not only that the raw oysters are fresh extremely fresh 4 flat screen TVs playing variety of things plus Juke box music and GOOD PPL I HAD TO GIVE YOU GUYS 5 STARS Jennifer was my hostess and she was great. Check them out.
Your cooks have one job!!! To cook! My husband and his coworkers couldn’t even get their whole table served because the cooks refused to cook the rest of their orders!!! My husband couldn’t even order me the crab cake bites to go. He had to go to a whole different restaurant to bring me something to eat home. First and last time anybody I know will ever come to this restaurant
The service was decent but the food was extremely overpriced for what I got. My husband and I both ordered shrimp and grits and there were four tiny shrimp and three tiny pieces of sausage. The atmosphere is even dark and depressing. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!
Got a to-go oder of 10 wings for my parents. 5 hot and 5 plain. The cost was nominal but theres a $1.00 up charge if you get carry out. Now as far as the wings, the flavor was okay but they were puny and tough to chew. My folks told me dont order there again. I guess seafood is there specialty.
We ordered [to go] 2 fish baskets (1 grilled 1 fried) I substituted my fries for red potatoes, and we got a appetizer of calamari. Before we even left the parking lot, the car was filled with this horrible, rotten smell coming from the calamari. My boyfriend took it back inside to give it back. They offered to fix it, so he let them, however it wasn’t much different. The grilled fish was so salty that no one could eat it, and the fried fish was so over cooked, I had to tear off the super hard bits so I didn’t crack a tooth. The tarter tastes like straight mayonnaise. The red potatoes and hush puppies were very good, but not good enough to make up for such a terribly stinky appetizer and very poorly cooked entree. I hope this was just a one time thing because if this happens regularly, Oyster Bay might lose a lot of customers.
The food was good and for the price and the amount I ate and drank you will catch me there regularly. This isnt a suit and tie spot so bring that type of attitude.. its laid back so come to eat drink and chill.. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was great experience.
Called and ordered wings for super bowl Sunday around 1:45. When my husband went to pick them up he was told they ran out of wings. They offered boneless wings🤮They did call and left a message on my voicemail telling us they didn’t have anymore wings.WHO runs out of wings at 1:45 on Super Bowl Sunday??? 😡😡🤬 Y’all need to be better prepared!!
Do not eat here. We ordered off the waiter app and the food that we received was a nothing like the food that we ordered. If I could give negative stars I would. We called the restaurant wants the food was received and the manager did not care at all. Do not give these people your money!
I have never left a bad review anywhere ive eaten but i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone we waited 35 mins to be asked are we ready to order hardly a handfull of ppl in there ordered a salad and usually you get your salad 1st but without askin the waitress said bring my salad last the salad left a powdery taste in your mouth got raw oysters and i know you cant control anythang bout how an oyster will be but they had no flavor all of them were tiny fried okra flavorless my fiance had the fried shrimp he said they werent good got a dr pepper and ive never drank a more flat soda so i asked for a water had stuff floating in the bottom asked for another water it had stuff floating in it too didnt bother askin for anythang else to drink 2 different songs were playin terrible atmosphere prices were decent but the best food i had all nite were the saltine crackers i had for my oysters. Dont waist your time and money.
Was good at the begining when they first opened. Was there 2wks ago, most of the items on the menu are no longer available. The servers were pre occupied with his knows what and paid no attention to guests. Bathrooms are trashed!! It also smells like a dirty bar as well. Had one beer and left.
Best drinks with a kick after one I was buzzed lol The Aquaholic was my favorite, but the Tropical Blast is another great experience with a unicorn punch lol. I love the rocafella oysters, catfish, crab boil, and buffalo shrimp basket. This little ducked off spots in Columbus is one of my go to spots. Great music, friendly staff, and oh yes they have phenomenal drinks lol😘😍
WOW! This place is DOOMED! Let’s get this straight... don’t look at the menu because they don’t offer half of it!!! Drive out of the way to get some food with my cousin and what a waste of time. We walked out after realizing the entire menu minus oysters and sides was basically useless. Shame on the owners and management. Poor business! You FAIL.
Because they serve good food and drinks the ladies on the bar and the servers are the best olive all of their personalities the cooks are also friendly and they serve the food just the way you like it the new owners are good people they have karioke on Thurs and they have live bands these people know how to have a good time
Some friends were looking to get some oysters, we called to see when the kitchen closed, we were told 11 pm. We showed up at 9:50, walked in and were told the place was closing because they were slow. That is no way to do business, I will not be going back. Extremely disappointed.

2022-05-31One of my absolute favorite watering holes. Im here almost every weekend. Love the atmosphere and the long Island ice teas are what I love most about this place. The food is tasty also, I frequent the low country boil, oysters on the hall shell, the peel and eat Cajun shrimp, and the side salad. Not all at once, but switching up. I recommend you try it!

2022-04-20I was visiting from Florida! By far the BEST! 👌 FRIED OYSTERS EVER! I had to have a dozen raw on the shell! And the SWEET POTATO FRIES are perfect. Service was great, and the owner was awesome. Definitely be back. Thanks Rick

2022-03-27Great food! My wife had oysters “Kicked Up Scampi” style and I had fried catfish. Best fried catfish I’ve had in a long time. Awesome food and service!

2022-02-13Cool hangout spot. Cold beer. Good prices. Great customer service. Really good food. I’d suggest the chicken finger or fried shrimp baskets tossed in their sweet chile sauce. It’s awesome!

2018-12-18UGH...not sure where to start. Used to eat here a few years ago and it was ok. This visit was a disappointment. Maybe because it was a monday night. Upon arrival there were only a few customers at the bar. No music or atmosphere at all. The place looks dark, dank and eewwwe. The only reason we stayed was because my friend had a craving for raw oysters. Out of a dozen we may have had 6 good ones. Our server was sweet and doing the best she could but the service was slow, the beer was flat and the bar regulars were loud and spouting out as much profanity as they had breath for; they were all you could hear. Overall, not a good experience. Im sorry to say I would not recommend Oyster Bay to anyone. I wont be back.

2022-06-30This is me and my girlfriend favorite spot. The bad reviews are bogus. We love the oysters and red snapper. Bar tenders always great and friendly...best bar hands down.
