Pho Bac in other cities:
Food: Decently priced for what it is. The noodles seem to have down graded in quality from previous visits and it didnt taste as good as it usually did. I got the P9 which is loaded with meats, tendon and tripe but found that most of my pho was noodle and low quality broth.Staff: Service is as expected but Im tossing all of the stars due to improper pay of the staff. Usually, I tip generously but only cash I had was to pay for the bill and ended up leaving almost no tip because I just wanted to use up my cash and go. This in turn prompted the waiter to run outside as I was getting into my car and yell You forgot your quarter! repeatedly. Look man, Im not here to pay your wage, I saw you for less than 2 minutes total while you were serving me. That 50 was all I had on me. I came back and tipped the man a 20 out of sheer pity but this review is mostly out of anger that the owner decided to not only cheap out on essentials but also the staff.
It was a cold and rainy day in Augusta so we went for a hot bowl of soup. Lunchtime is not crowded we had a socially distanced table right away. Soup does not take long to prepare so we were served the soup just after we got beers. Beer and soup is a good Asian combination. This warmed up our bellies. Meals are served for American bellies and are not spicy...you add your own level of heat at the table. This is a very casual restaurant at lunch, generally quiet, you can ask the servers over to your table when you need them. Plenty of parking.
I walked in at 15 til 9&told one of the workers it was just me. I was told that the kitchen was shut down&they closed at 8:30. I told the worker that Google said they closed at 9PM&walked out. I’d have left 0 stars but that wasn’t an option. I’d been looking forward to finding a place for some Pho&this place was recommended to me to check out,but after this I won’t be bringing my business here. Not sure decent place even closes at 9PM on a Saturday night. But I say 0/5 stars&they will NOT be getting my business
Its my first time trying Pho Bac and I was impressed. I spent some time in Vietnam last year and had the privilege of eating at some true hole-in-the-wall, back alley establishments....because those are often the best. So I have a tough standard to measure them by. But that said, I enjoyed the Pho and would definitely go again. The Good:- only Vietnamese food place in town and yet its authentic and tasty- comfortable venue, able to accommodate many guests- since Pho is mostly prepared in advance, your food comes very quickly- great portion size (of the Pho and the Summer Rolls)- competent staff: the young lady who took my order was extremely familiar with the menu items and was able to answer my questions wellThe Acceptable:- Prices: there was no business lunch menu that I saw but I was there on the weekend as well. $20 for an appetizer, a large bowl of Pho, and a drink is fine (more on the drink below). Theyre selling a unique and premium product and thus its not meant to be budget food.- Atmosphere: There was a lot of staff kind of lingering around. It was encouraging because that meant there were plenty of people to hand to prepare your food, bring you anything, and run your check at the end. The downside was that with a table near the staff counter, they were sitting and standing in small groups have semi-loud discussions about a variety of topics and it was not a perfect ambience. The Less than Ideal:- Petty but Relevant: the portion of leafy greens, herb and additives. In VN, most of your Pho places give you a heaping basket of bean sprouts, herbs, leafy greens etc, as well as, lime wedges. At Pho Bac, they give you some, but no one would call it a generous portion. I do understand that with American supply chains, those items probably arent the cheapest they buy. But in proportion to how big the Pho was, I certainly would have liked more. Also, where was the pickled garlic and fish sauce? Maybe it was just everywhere I went in VN, but it seemed everyone has both items on each table for adding to your Pho. Here they have two different chili pastes, Hoisin sauce, and Sriracha.- Drink Prices: this is an actual grumble of mine. I wanted to try a few of the different drinks. Vietnam has no shortage of interesting, delicious drinks to try. Pho Bac also has a huge selection of drinks - teas, milk teas, boba, VN coffee, hand-squeezed lemonade, salty lemonade, and all your fountain drinks. Heres the issue -- most drinks averaged $3-$4. The fountain drinks were $1.79 which is fair and quite a standard price. But it discouraged me from ordering two drinks knowing it would cost the same as my Pho (almost $8). I wanted to try the Salty Lemonade, but I was unwilling to double my bill just for a second cup. Especially since Pho is a gigantic bowl of broth anyway. So my recommendation to the owner would be to consider lowering the drink prices just a bit...All in all, I quite liked Pho Bac and will definitely be returning in the future!
Thai tea could use some work. The pho is variable. First time was bad, the second time I really enjoyed. After more trips here, I am raising my star rating, not because it is better overall, but because it is better comparatively. I would rather come here still then many other restaurants, even if the pho is often too sweet. They have won, where else am I going to get pho here?Thai tea is good though.
Pho Bac is a unique gem Evans has to offer, however, it is an acquired taste for certain people. If you dont not like broth based soup, this is not the restaurant for you. It is a vietnamese restaurant.❌ long wait for service and seating❌ we ordered cheesecake, tastes like cardboard❌ servers take a while to get back to your table❌ small, limited space for seating, very small lobby area✅ extremely friendly staff, despite wait✅ staff is well educated on menu items✅ great espresso coffee!✅ quality of food is fresh, hot, and great
We havent been here in a while, so we were surprised to see they had renovated the interior a bit since our last visit. They changed the cashier station basically. Also, we noted that the outdoor parking lot is going thru some crazy roadwork thanks to a DOT project with the highway so be aware it may be difficult to get in.We ordered lemon grass fish and brisket pho. We also ordered fried tofu as an appetizer and summer rolls. This is where things got weird. The appetizers came in as ordered, but my wife received some kind of vegetable stir fry. It was only obvious that she got the wrong thing because there was no fish in the plate.Likewise, my bowl of pho was handed off to a different table entirely🤔 and that guy had already put his fork in the bowl so I had to wait for another one. They eventually sent me my order and they swapped my wifes entree with the correct one, but it was strange to have this happen where its never happened before. The food was great as usual, and its probably the best bowl of pho Ive had here in a while. I think they changed their recipe slightly so it tastes even more flavorful than I remember.Would recommend but just be wary of sometimes inconsistent service.
To be very honest, the food was not good. I was very disappointed in them. My dad had Pho and he complained about the soup being salty. My mom had shrimp fried rice and it was dry and very bland. I had what was supposed to be a half of fried chicken and fried rice, well they gave me the back of the chicken not the brest part the rice and whole mean was bland as hell. WHO GIVES THE BACK OF THE CHICKEN TO EAT. So disappointed maybe You should be careful 😕.
Service was never great even pre pandemic. I go in tonight at 8:25 to order to go. The waiter ask could I wait one minute. I said that was fine. The waiter comes back in 2 minutes and said, man Im sorry the kitchen just closed. The door said the hours were until 9:00 p.m. . I brought this to the waiters attention, and he said sorry man. I understand restaurants being short-staffed, but at least honor the hours on your door. The food is great, but I wont be back.
Come here with my friends after bootcamp class. They took time before to take our command but the food and the prices are very good. I got a noodles soup. P15 with well done beef (rare on the menu). I struggle to finish the large portion. It was good and healthy.I Higly recommand this restaurant if you want to try this kind of food.
We were looking for a good pho place for our pho cravings after moving here from houston and found this place and another one which we also tried. We like this place better than that one. More serving and actually pretty good. We just feel like the waitress who took our order last time went there were kinda rude how she treated us compared to how she handled other tables next to us. But we cared more about the food more than her rudeness.
Restaurant in General:Favorite restaurant in Augusta by far. Large, DELICIOUS porions of Pho for very cheap. Ive only tried the pork and a few apps that werent Pho here, but they were ridiculously good and super cheap as wellAwesome Restaurant Story/ Restaurant Large Party Capabilities: (Note: we were only a party of 5, but they have TONS of seating, and definitely could do one of the largest parties Augusta has to offer.)Pho Bac was absolutely AWESOME with my sisters Bachlorette Party. I called them a month in advance because I was planning the Bachlorette, but since it was mostly minors, I was struggling to figure out how to make it fun, exciting, and still special as an actual Bachlorette Party. Without getting into all the details of everything else, one of the things I wanted to do was go to lunch somewhere, and at the end have the restaurant bring out an Edible Arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries and bananas I had bought and dropped off earlier in the day as a surprise for the table. I called several times over the month to confirm we were still good/ that they would have space in their cooler/ walk in for a large arrangement, and they knew exactly who I was every time and assured me we were. Then the day of came, and they executed perfectly. The girls all had a blast (even if only one other actually tried the Pho lol,) they had enough parking for the limo to have room and not take up their whole lot, and the food was delicious.10/10. A true GEM of Augusta
While the pho was good, the papaya salad was merely unseasoned shredded papaya with bits of jerky on top that may or may not have been packaged. The server got a bit defensive about it, putting more effort into making excuses than the cook put into making that dish. All that aside, I’d only order the pho if I ever go again, which is doubtful.
The house fried rice here is THE BEST i have ever had. Im not big on pho, so I always try their other options. Wait time can be a bit on the longer side during evenings but I would say its a good sign how much business they have. Wait staff is super friendly but i can tell that they can get a little overwhelmed having so many tables to each server. Being a patient and sympathetic person is key on a busy night because you will be there a while.
A delightful surprise to a remarkable transformation with introduction of Vietnamese Cuisine while in the midst of a global pandemic. Service was friendly, helpful, and timely throughout dinner. The selections of the House Special Soup with fried rice, and Pan-Fried Steak with unsurpassed flavor. Will definitely return to experience the choices of a well-rounded menu.
Got takeout today and ordered spring rolls and pho. The spring rolls did not come with peanut sauce, which was a first for me and kinda the whole reason I was craving the food. The takeout pho was oddly packed. Broth in a soup bowl, and then all the ingredients bagged separately and the noodles being dry had kind of solidified at the bottom of their container. Was very messy putting together. One was for rare steak, but was really just raw. 🤔Probably wont eat here again, but if so, itd definitely need to be a sit down experience vs takeout.
The exterior of the restaurant with its rock garden, ferns and palms, and little bridges going over little ponds is absolutely decieving compared to what lays waiting for you on the inside!! A dirty, unkept, untidy atmosphere! Where we were escorted to our table, we had a view of industrial boxes stacked upon each other next to the bathrooms. There was food on the floor. The waiter couldnt remember to bring out a glass for my beer or my wifes drink, plates or cutlery. The food was horrible,...$60.00 for two people and the Seafood Stew was a disgraceful joke with 5 or 6 puny shrimp and 5 tiny little half sphere fish balls (they call them). This message is for the owner and the management,... Id like a refund please!
The food at this place was amazing!!!! The fried rice by far has been the best Ive had! I really liked the pho soup and their tofu was good too. We all enjoyed our meals very much. The chef came out to talk to us about our sons food allergies. Im so going back to this restaurant when Im back in Evans Georgia. I really enjoyed the food, cant get it out of my mind!!!
I started to give four starts for the wait time, but that’s unnecessary.. this place is delicious. Rice noodle bowls are my favorite meal (kind of ever) and the ones here are amazing. The fried chicken is amazing. The Vietnamese teas and coffee are also amazing. I have nothing negative to say about this place!
Friendly atmosphere inside and delicious Vietnamese food served here. Pho is the national dish of Vietnam. Its a big bowl of your choice of meat, noodles, broth, and other ingredients. Other choices of authentic Vietnamese food are served here as well. Locally owned business. Please go check them out today. Located of off of Washington Rd and the Riverwalk Parkway in Evans GA 😊😁👍👌👍🥰
Its decent food. If you get pho, they rip you on the meat, even if you get the extra meat option. I cant really tell the difference. The lemon chicken is good and a better value. You arent still hungary like after eating the big bowl of pho. Tonight, I tried going there BC my son wanted it fir good B day, but apparently they changed their hours on a whim, how convenient. They also limit dining capacity hich was full. Really?! This isnt NY. Im not believing them so Ill be finding another rare pho restaurant nearby. I hear there is a place near Hardees by I-20 and Belair Rd.
My wife and I really enjoy the food here, but the customer service leaves a bit to be desired in the speed and accuracy with attentiveness to customers. The pho is delicious and the milk tea variety is large. We visit often and just hope for the best with their server we receive.
My husband and another couple came to eat this evening. The waiter was not thrilled to be at work. The meals were brought out 1 at a time about 5 minutes apart. One of our group had waited over 20 minutes for hers and found out the order was never placed by the waiter. We finally flagged down the host and ask him to find out where her food was. Our waiter then acted like we were bothering him when ask to refill drinks. The quality of the food is not what it once was. We will not be back.
Great place for what you would expect by the name of the restaurant. What you wouldn’t expect is the variety on the menu which is all done well.I’ve been here multiple times and they have always done a great job of employing staff that is attentive and polite. Customer service has always been good here.I tend to order pho tai here. If you’re afraid of ordering it to-go, don’t be. They separate everything and it is just as good when you put it together at the house.
My wife and I adore this one place. The prices are reasonable, the food is fantastic, and the staff has always been friendly and attentive.Edit, please call this restaurant to order takeout. If you use their online skiplinow service, it will add a $30 fee to your order for processing even if the call-in fee says $0. This has happened to us twice now, one time the fee was more than our order was. If you call the restaurant, there is no fee. Skiplinow charges $30 every order.
First time. Terrible experience with the service. Great food though. We ordered ahead. They said our to go order would be ready in 10-15. We showed up and explained that our 4 orders would be on separate payments. The young lady rolled her eyes in the most blatant way and walked away. She then continued her poor attitude any time we asked a question, never apologizing. Additionally that 10-15 minutes for a to go order turned into 47.... we wont be back.
Updating my review as we have been back several times and have yet to have another bad experience. The servers are always friendly and the food is always delicious. We had a terrible first time experience but I am so glad we gave it another chance. Their lemongrass chicken, chicken fried rice, and pho are all amazing and portion sizes last for days!
I would say the quality of the services could be better. Dingy bathrooms, unappealing cups (I got an awkwardly huge pink straw and a plastic cup to drink coconut water, it would have been better to just put it in a clean glass instead) Some of our dishes seemed dirty, so they could definitely use some quality control. As for the menus, there were hardly any vegetarian options besides those with tofu. The food they served us did not seem fresh (except the sprout and herb plates for the soup).I would like to see some better quality control and either more pictures or better descriptions for the food. Waiting time could have also been cut down.
Waited about 10 minutes with several other familys to be seated figured food must be good because the staff can afford to ignore customers waiting to be seated with several seating available. After got seated waiting about 20 minutes for someone to wait on us. Finally got aggrieved with no one even coming to get our drink order or anything. Hope the food and tea is good because the customer service is TERRIBLE!!!
Love their chicken soup! Usually good service. They seat you, take your drinks and order and then leave you to eat in peace (still refilling drinks of course.) which is a refreshing experience. Good prices for any budget and you get a good portion even in their small dish sizes a definitely a good portion in their large.
This restaurant misses the basics of a restaurant. Walking up you see an algae filled pond but head into a very clean good looking restaurant. The original server seemed to forget about seating us so someone else eventually did. After sitting it was a short wait for us to get our waitress. Who took our drinks and order and because the order was going to take a half hour we ordered an appetizer. This was one of three times we saw our waitress in the almost hour and a half being there. Getting our order and dropping off our food and drinks. The appetizer was a joke, we only got two egg rolls and they had very little taste to them. We watched families come and go before we finally got our food. The food was decent portions but again what I ordered had no flavor. We were not checked on at all while we were there and had to stare at every employee until finally our waitress got the hint we wanted to leave. We spent about ten minutes eating the rest of the hour and a half was just waiting. I asked for a box and received a tiny box that couldnt fit my food so I left it along with my food because I didnt want to waste any more of my time at the restaurant. There was also a waiter that we got to hear complain a lot, it was his last day so it seemed like he just didnt care but wasnt helping the environment. I heard another waiter tell a customer they were busy as they were trying to ask for something. I watched the waiters and waitresses walk or stand around doing a whole lot of nothing. Spending your money elsewhere and saving your time is highly recommended.
Terrible to-go experience. Good Pho, but left frustrated. Called in an order of two large beef ball Pho and arrived 20 minutes later. The girl behind the counter ran to the back and told me it was ready. Someone else came out to take my credit card, then came back to tell me it would be another 10-15 minutes. Honestly, I would have left if they hadn’t charged me first. I was clearly frustrated and was told that in-house customers come first. Basically, the food was good, but don’t bother ordering to-to unless you want to wait awhile and be frustrated. I will go back and would love to update this review after a better experience.UPDATE: bumping up from 2 to 4 stars. I went back for Pho to-go and had a fantastic experience. Thanks guys!!
The food was very good but the service was not good at all. We stood by the door waiting to be seated and the staff kept looking at us and ignoring us standing there. Even though it was obvious that a crowd was accumulating at the door, we were all still being ignored so we finally seated ourselves. Our water glasses were only refilled one time during our time there. The food is good and if their service would match the quality of the food, this would be a great little place.
So we ordered the beef hot pot, and for the first 5-8 minutes we had to hold the pot steady so that the boiling broth didn’t splash out. The fried rice was very dry and tasted like it had sat under a heat lamp for 20m. Scratch this place off the list for sure. The service was good, they were understaffed and our waitress was trying her best. I wish I could post a video of our dancing bowl I took.
Friendly wait staff seated us immediately and took our drink order. When they brought the drinks, we ordered and my 18 month old was a bit grumpy and was being loud, but we were never made to feel uncomfortable. Our food arrived quickly and was excellent. The price was surprisingly good as well! Definitely going back.
Dont leave without checking your take out orders!!! Today was the third time we got takeout which was extremely wrong and ultimately the last time we will patronize Pho-Bac.When dining inside we had no problems and food was good but have had food that seems to have come from a different restaurant each time we ordered takeout
The service was terrible. It usually isnt like this but that day we went to eat. My noodles were not fresh it broke apart like it had been sitting in the soup for a while. My husbands fried rice was dry and not fresh. We were not greeted and given a menu and cutlery when we entered and had to seat ourselves and wait another twenty minutes before we received water. The only thing that came out right was the Pho Ga
The food here is amazing and its one of my favorite go-to restaurants in the area. The pho is delicious, the bahn mi is cheap and good, and everything else Ive tried is authentic and tasty. There service has gone a bit downhill lately. The waiter forgot about me for over a half hour, there was a waiter wandering around in a dirty hoodie with airpods in, and everything seems to be disorganized.Im not a fan of the new seating arrangements either; I dont like the one long bench along the wall, it feels like Im sharing space with other tables.
Food is awesome, theres no denying that. Top quality pho and bun. Also, try the crab puffs! The service is whats lacking. There were plenty of employees when I went, but getting seated and getting my order was still a little slow. Towards the end of my meal I smelled cigarette smoke. Apparently a couple of employees went for a smoke break outside on the patio...and were smoking right next to the door they had left propped open. Please have a designated smoking area out of customer sight and smell!
Loved the food and atmosphere at this restaurant! The waiter, David, was quick, precise, and friendly. He provided some of the best service I’ve had in a long time. The food came out fast, was delicious and reasonably priced. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. I will be coming back!
When we first moved to the Augusta area, this was easily my favorite restaurant around. We would drive 40 min just to eat here. Within the last year, things have gone downhill quite rapidly. There is a noticeable difference. The food has always been amazing. The service used to match. I can not say that anymore. We went tonight, Friday-somewhat busy but not crazy. We were seated and sat there in the heat (I think their a/c may have malfunctioned but I’m not holding that against them, it happens) for 15 minuets, at the shortest, never approached by a server. It breaks my heart to write a negative review on what was my favorite place in the area. Phobac is failing like a fish out of water. In reading the comments, I am not the only one who has noticed the change. Please correct this issue so I can come back where I belong.
Service has gone downhill over time and is currently in the dumps. Tall male waiter with blond hair tied up literally looked like he was going through funeral service waiting us. Terrible experience. Food quality has also gone downhill since renovation. They changed their chef and it definitely tastes sub-par even for Augusta, GA standards. We almost decided not to leave a tip so the poor excuse of a waiter gets the message. I used to wait tables in college. Ultimately we left a 20% tip and will not be back. Avoid at all cost.
First, I must say I have never been disappointed by the food. They have a large selection of dishes and I have tried many. The problem here is service. There are a few staff that are fantastic about making your dining experience great, but there are some that you would think are trying their hand at food service for the first time.......over and over again. We recently visited and we were excited that we were seated in a section of one of the great ones. We were disappointed, but patient when she informed us that she was the only server working and there was only one cook (about 10 families dining at that time).
I had wrote this review a little over 2 years ago, and I have came back to change it. The quality of the food is fine overall, but some table utensils are sticky. I only eat here because it is a geographical monopoly. The service isnt top-tier as well, but it gets the job done.
Love it! I have been twice now. The first time I had a beef Pho and it was beyond yummy, this time I had a jasmine rice platter that was absolutely phenomenal! Their meats are always tender and their food is always seasoned perfectly. I never regret going to this place!
Slow service, restaurant was not busy at all. Tight seating in some areas. Tight entrance, just enough for a baby stroller.Pho was good, lots of meat. I order the P10 which includes meatball. I think my bowl had one or two chopped. Chicken wing and fried rice were okay. Im not convinced both dishes were made fresh.Might go back for the pho if I ever go that way again.
Ordered to pick up anddand theyhthey bread, but didnt tell us this until we arrived to get the food. still charged us to change bread to rice, and had to wait another 15 minutes to get our food. Then the people in the back were complaining about who would get part of our order. food was good.
First of all, they have wait to be seated sign up front, but they do not really have a designated person to do that job that is how at least it seems when I got there and some other people after me. Also, no matter how busy is or not, as a customer service please have that welcoming smile or at least some vibe. Thankfully the guy who served me was like that but the guy that told the other customers to come was like whatever. Anyways, I ordered egg roll and pho with everything. It was mediocre, may be I lived with Vietnamese friends for long and had good ones I can basically feel the taste I can say. Anyways if they improve their customer service quality, and the food taste, they can definitely get to 5 star. Goodluck for future.
Food is delicious, especially the pho. The restaurant is clean and well dressed, good atmosphere. The service can be slow, in that it seems they would not be able to keep up with a full house (the dining area is quite large), but only slightly detracts. An overall great experience, and one of the only places to get some good pho in town.
I used to live next door to a Vietnamese family and their Pho was incredible. Once they moved they said if I was craving pho I could go to Pho Bac and it would be just as good. That’s when you know you have the right place! When I’m sick, or tired, or it’s raining, or it’s a week day or a weekend I crave their pho cause it’s so good. I like the chicken or shrimp more than the beef and I always request extra basil. It’s worth it to get the large TO GO, cause you get a ton to bring home to your family. All 4 of us can eat a decent bowl of soup on that one large! If you want leftovers definitely order an extra. You can eat 4 bowls and never get fat either!
I have eaten from here a total of 4 times, twice as take out and twice dining in. My husband and I love Pho and unfortunately this is the only Pho place near by so weve just had to settle for it, but not at the expense of receiving at least decent customer service. Like I said, twice weve had Pho Bac to-go, but today when I called to place a to go order over the phone, I was told we stop taking orders to go at 8pm and we stop seating for dine in at 8:45 (mind you, they close at 9). It was 8:19 when I called. BTW... My last two take out orders were made between 15-30 minutes before closing... So what do I do? I go in since I have 25 minutes left to order... I arrive there at 8:26 (I was already on my way when I called and was just around the corner)... I walk in and the boy in the front says to me, Im sorry mam but were closed, AT 8:26pm... I told him what I was just told over the phone by another employee 5 minutes ago and he says, Thats true for most days but we ran out of chicken so we closed at 8 today. What in the world?! I wasnt even there for anything chicken related. Listen people if you want to close early thats fine but post the right f****n hours on here and YOUR DOORS so that you dont have to lie to your customers about why you dont want to serve them during business hours! Needless to say this food is too mediocre to have to deal with this degree of bad customer service and people who cant run a business.
We put in a carry out order and were told 20 minutes. Showed up to pick it up 30 minutes later. There were 10 people there waiting for their pickup orders already. When we went to go get our order, the waitress said that they lost our order and cant find it and that we would have to resubmit it, meaning we would have to wait to get our food after these ten other people get theirs. One guy said he had been waiting for an hour. Normally I like this restaurant but I will say, this is ridiculous and one thing I consistently notice is that whenever I order carry out and go to pick it up, the wait staff if just standing around giggling and talking without noticing that Im standing there. Sometimes I have stood there for 10 minutes before anyone noticed me.
We love Pho Bac. Their Pho is great...obviously. But we also love their Basil Chicken, Mongolian Beef, their wings (with some weird, special sauce, that is delicious), their summer rolls with peanut dipping sauce, and their scrummy Banh Mi sandwiches. They cook everything fresh, so be prepared to wait for the yumminess....but its well worth it.
Great food and great service from Evan P.I wouldnt know real authentic Vietnamese food from Tai but I know what I like. I often get chicken, shrimp, or tofu stir fry on rice or fried/boiled noodles. Today I had pork chops and fish sauce - something I never thought I would eat. The food and service vary between very good and excellent. My wife enjoys the crab puff appetizers. The only thing I have not cared for was the spring roll appetizers with a wrap made from rice. Not for me. But I have never left Pho Bac feeling like I ever received less than my moneys worth. Ive eaten here maybe 8 times including a few to go orders. Just giving you full disclosure. And as always, YMMV.
The food is great but not worth the wait just to be seated when the restaurant is empty. My husband and I waited for a long time for someone to seat us before deciding to seat ourselves. We then waited another 15 minutes and just decided to get up and leave because our drink order hadnt been taken and we hadnt even been acknowledged by the servers or given menus. I can understand being understaffed and having a full house but the servers stood by the register watching the tv and the restaurant only had 2 or 3 tables being used. The food is good and Id love to eat here but until the customer service is fixed I probably wont go back.
I write this as we have just left because we waited 10 minutes without any service. We do love the food here, but this is the second time that people who were seated after us were waited on before us. There is nothing that discourages eating at a restaurant more than lackluster service. I understand them being busy, but they certainly need a better way to manage their guests and provide quality service. Additionally, one of the couples that walked in after us did not get the seat they asked for because they were told “it would mess up [Pho Bac’s] arrangement.” I’m sorry, but they can’t manage an arrangement. We won’t be returning.
Ive been going here for a decent amount of time now, and I cant begin to explain how good their food is! Especially their pho! Only problem is service is never good. It usually takes 3-5mins to get sat, they will take your order pretty fast, but after you get your food no one will come and check on you. You basically have to wave someone down to get boxes or the check. But... Food is so worth it.
We had a waitress that knew she was going to get a 20% gratuity so she stopped providing a reasonable service. We had to get our salt and pepper from another server as well as soy sauce. Then my mother had to go get her own drink refill from the front counter. At the end of the meal, when I went to get the check after waiting 20 minutes when everyone was done eating, our waitress was sitting at another table with other customers completely neglecting our table. Another server had to go get her to cash us out. She charged us a gratuity fee of $22.11 then a tip of $21.22. When I brought this to her attention she said that the gratuity was for the cooks and the tip was for her. I told her that she needed to take the tip off of my bill after charging my debit card. She refunded the first transaction then charged me twice for the final amount. Katt is very unprofessional and did not take care of her customers as other servers have done at Pho Bac. We have been to Pho Bac several times and had great experiences. This was by far the most difficult visit. We were greatly disappointed with everything that happened. Now I have to file a dispute with my bank to get the second charge dropped. What was supposed to be a nice dinner with my family and friends turned out to be a night full of frustration.
Consistently terrible customer service, not necessarily by the wait staff, but by the manager of the restaurant. Orders are consistently lost, and the staff communication is so terrible that a replacement order cant be cooked in under an hour. The manager refuses to offer any kind of discount on orders like this, AND refuses a discount or refund on incorrect to-go orders.Ive ordered to-go from this restaurant, arrived to pickup my food, and found it wasnt ready because the order was lost. I sat and waited 2 HOURS for this single meal to be cooked. While being nervously avoided by the staff. Apparently, the kitchens error did not constitute my already late order to be given priority and cooked first. I watched people walk in, order, eat, and leave in less time than I sat waiting for a TO-GO ORDER. And no discount or refund from the manager, who didnt seem bothered by this at all.Ive ordered delivery through various delivery services, only for my food to arrive and be half of what was ordered. And of course, while this isnt the delivery services fault, the restaurant says its not their fault either...And, if this isnt enough to convince you that this restaurant is not worth the risk, the food is mediocre. Sure, its not bad, but its not great. Pho is hard to come by in Augusta, so its hard to compare the quality exactly. But aside from the pho, everything else on the menu is not remotely above average.Very plain, unexceptional food, which is basically just pouring salt in the wounds already left by the worst customer service in Augusta.
That being said the Pho is pretty decent. Not the best I have ever had. The veg accompaniments in the broth are pretty basic, just green onion, onion and bean sprouts. I wish it had more variety. Lets face it, if you want Pho and you live in the Evans or Martínez area, you kind of dont have another choice. Its the only game in town.
The prices are inexpensive with large portions (1 appetizer and 2 entrees was just $22). The service was prompt and friendly. I got the pho and it was very flavorful, especially when you add the condiments. My boyfriend got the seafood in a pot and loved it! I will be back for sure!
My husband and I have been without a proper Pho supply for about two years and, so far, the best thing about moving to GA has been finding really good pho.And since we were so happy with the pho, we might have gone crazy and ordered enough food for a table of eight, and it was all delicious. It made excellent leftovers.
This is my favorite restaurant in town! An excellent place for pho! They have all the accoutrements that you would expect for pho. Inexpensive and delicious. Service can be a little slow but once ordered the pho usually is quite quick to come out. Give the spring rolls a try as well. This is my go to spot in Augusta!
Food is great, Tradeoff: service is okay. Prices are reasonable. I walked in to an empty restaurant and waited 15 min to be acknowledged while the staff watched me at the door. Finally, I was told I can sit anywhere I want, but never recieved an apology for waiting so long to just be acknowledged. It would be easier to have a sign, seat yourself and wait forever. Food is great, but not good enough for me to return in the next several months.
They have really good and fresh food here. The pho in particular is good. However, they always seem to be super busy (I think theyre the only Vietnamese game in town) and the customer service really suffers for it. Ive never been treated rudely or anything, but they just seem chronically undermanned. Expect long waits and forgotten items for pickup and even longer waits if you didnt call in and are getting a table. They also only seem to have one phone line and you can dial it 20 times before someone picks up. Theyve lost my business more than a few times just because I couldnt get an order in for pickup. Its a really nice place and great food, but they need to step their game up a bit and get a couple more employees, in my opinion.
The first time I ate here was excellent. Fantastic service and even better good. The second time I ate here, they were missing everything that I would have ordered.Along with this, our waiter took our drink orders, and we never received our drinks after 15 minutes of waiting. The managerial staff was also unfriendly and unwilling to recognize or accommodate the lack of service. It is sad because the food here is excellent, however this business will lose a lot of business if they don’t improve on customer service.
Three times in a row I came here and they were out of basil. The soup was good, but you cant run out of basil three times in a row, bring a plate of cilantro in its stead, and then not offer a discount on the dish and/or bother explaining why you are not bringing out Basil. It is the key component of a great Pho. Pho-king explain yourself. Finally, after the 3rd time I asked what the deal was -- and they said -- the basil went bad. Thats just poor management to not check your stock/inventory on a daily basis to ensure that you can deliver on your menu and the customer gets what it pays for.
This is a Vietnamese restaurant famous for their soup or broth. You can order the small or large portions of seafood, shrimp, chicken, beef, fish balls, or a combination of all in a broth that includes noodles. I was not a fan of the beef broth but the grandkids loved the chicken. The shrimp, beef, and chicken fried rice was excellent and was enough for all three of us. There are also egg rolls, salads, and sandwiches.
Awesome Pho. So far I have tried the House, flank and seafood options of pho. All were awesome. today I had the beef stew with large rice noodles. It is a stew as well but the flavor is very strong. The beef was tender and the soup was powerful. Very deep flavor and a perfect amount of heat. For 9 bucks you will have more than you can eat.
Wait time was inconsistent -- Ive been when its empty and it took at least 30-40 minutes to get our food and other times when its packed and took only 10 minutes. They have vegetarian options for pho, and huge portion sizes (the large is only a dollar more than the small and its probably two meals depending on how much you eat in one sitting). Would not recommend trying the bubble tea.
The Pho is incredible, have only sampled a few other dishes here and there, but they seemed quite delicious as well. The service on the other hand... no matter how many times I go back, it has been pretty dang terrible every single time. They are slow to sit you, slow to take your order, bring drinks and food.
I came in at 5pm and ordered a P4 to go which is a soup with rare beef... I just now got my order at 5:44 pm!!! I will be contacting the owner in the morning about this. Several customers were able to come in after me and order their food and eat and pay before I got my order! I dont recommend getting a to go order here.
Terrible service. We walked in and most of the tables were dirty and hadn’t been bussed at all. Trash (in the form of straw coverings and napkins) was on the floor. We waited for almost 10 mins to be seated— no one even acknowledged our presence during that time— and when we were finally seated— DIRECTLY AT THE FRONT OF THE RESTAURANT— they flopped two menus onto our table and walked off. We sat there for another 10 minutes and no one even asked our drink order. I counted 5 servers who walked past us without even looking at us.I have been to this place 3 times before, but today was our last. We got up and left.
Update:Came on a Sunday afternoon, 80% full restaurant and staff are working together to help things flow and it is great to see! Food has gotten better from my last review but before writing this update I came three different times to see if the food will stay consistent. It did not disappoint and I am happy to write this update. Its noodle soup season so come get you a bowl and youll just might start saying #iInLoveWithThePhoBowl!Old:Im happy to have this option so close to Augusta Goregia but Ive had pho and other Vietnamese dishes all over the country. So with that said this place does not match up to some of the best place Ive had but yes by far my go to spot for pho and more when Im around town. I hope they elevate there service and flavor a little more, and maybe even revamp the inside of the restaurant to be able to deliver a better more efficient service. Ill definitely continue to go and hope it gets better.
As most people writing recently, this used to be one of my favorite spots to eat. However, this was almost 5 years ago and the service and food have gone downhill. My biggest complaint is that when I got my pho, the noodles were all stuck together in one mass. This is really unfortunate, because my whole class would frequent here. Management please do something to recover.
Pretty bad service, we had to leave because they kept forgetting or ignoring us. We stopped in for some Pho to warm us up but never got asked our order after sitting there for nearly 10 minutes. Dont know about the food but the employees dont seem to be watching for customers cues that they need something, like a greeting/table/menus/drinks/food.
This place used to be one of my favorites in town. Over the last couple of years the service has really declined. Waited 20 minutes at the table and a waiter never even asked for a drink order. Also, I have been there with a group of people and one person didn’t get their food till almost half an hour later. The food was good the last time I went but it’s not worth the horrible service.
Steep incline getting in and out of parking lot. Coming off Washington road, turning left is kind of a pain. I recommend taking N Belair then turning in from that direction. The wait was a little long. We were standing at the front for about 5 minutes before anyone greeted us. Once we were seated, the very polite, albeit exhausted waitress brought us our menues. The sitting was tight, and the wait staff have to really manuever to move between tables. Im about 6 foot 2 and I was constantly worried that someone was going to trip over my shoe or leg. The beers are relatively cheap. You can get a Michelob or a blue moon bottle (glass provided) for under 3 bucks. I ordered a blue moon and Pepsi, but unfortunately the restaurant was out if both (this was fathers day, no doubt they were incredibly busy). A strange beetle was found living inside my menu, I placed the little bug on the floor and continued to read on. I ordered the beef curry, and my gf ordered a small pho bowl. If you are hungry, this is a great place to get a big bang for your buck. My gf small pho bowl was large enough to be split into smaller bowls. Overall, the food was great. The place appeared to be understaffed to handle fathers day, but despite a slightly irked first impression walking in, I would return and I highly recommend this place to anyone. It was my first time going, and despite the wait, the two menu items not being available, and the beetle living in my menu this place is actually worth trying out. I will return, perhaps when its not fathers day.
Terrible service (actually NO service!!!), called to place a to go order and when they answered phone no one says anything, after .27 seconds they hung up then left phone off hook. Just to prove my point it is now 25 min later and the phone is still off the hook.. (This scenario has happened 3 different times)It’s a wonder the place is still in business after turning away customers as regularly as they do
The food was delicious, but there was a bit of a spat between our waiter and the owner...rather than move their argument to the back, the carried on loudly in front of the whole restaurant. Like I said though, the food was great so I wont let this one particular experience keep me away.
A nice hot bowl of pho is so refreshing. Youve got to wash it down with a hella dank Thai Tea. Their decoration skills have improved. They have new comfortable furniture. I appreciate their Ikea-esque lighting fixtures. Itd be a full five stars if I wasnt disappointed by the bathrooms. They need a deep cleaning.
We just had dinner here and it was not up to par. My wife discovered some sort of maggot or larva in her soup. I asked for the manager and took the kids out to the car to wait. 15 or 20 minute later the manager never came out and she had to go to the cash register to pay and let them know what was going on. The manager finally came out and was very rude concerning the situation. The food used to be pretty good. The last few times it has not been very fresh and now bugs in the food. We will not be going back to this place ever again. Maybe its time for a visit from the Health Department.
I cant comment on the food because after waiting 10 minutes to be seated, we then sat at the table for another 15-20 minutes with no one coming by the table at all. We flagged down a server and he told us he would let our server know, maybe he forgot about you. I then watched him tell our server about it table to each he said I know in a very agitated voice and slammed something down by the drink station. At this point we left, no one said anything or tried to stop us. Seems like they dont care. What a waste of time, very disrespectful.
Went on a Sunday evening - not too busy. One star only because the food taste good. Was sat down and 3 others sat after us were served before us. Went to ask for a menu myself and ordered immediately, ended up asking for my food to go. Spent nearly 45 minutes waiting for food that never arrived. Will not be going back.
The service was really lacking (I stood at the door for a while, and the server just took my order, dropped off the food and dropped off the check), BUT the food here is fantastic. Great prices and filling portions. Really hit the spot for some pho. What really surprised me was that they had canh chua, a Vietnamese sour soup that I can never find anywhere! Its a version with tofu (its usually made with seafood) but it was delicious. I will definitely come back!
The food is great but I think they ignore their phone during peak hours. Thats a great way to lose customers :(. Ive been seated to dine in plenty of times to just hear the phone ring off the hook, with no answer. Ive also been on the other end of the line, phone in hand, trying to call several times in different spans of time to place an order, with no answer. Not good business practice. There has been at least four times that Ive changed dinner plans due to this issue alone.
Dont order take out! I tried calling and as usual they DO NOT answer to take your order. So I went to them, seeing as its no big deal since I live close to it. I placed an order for steak and meatball pho..easy enough right? It was busy so I anticipated a lil bit of a wait, wait I did. 40 min wait! After finally getting my order I arrived home and opened my take out, the pho spilled open in the bag because they didnt properly close the lid on the cup. I opened my Trey and it looked like a pho starter kit small proportions but the worst was my steak wasnt cooked and still frozen! I was suppose to cook it myself I suppose but for 15 and some change not a chance in hell, especially if they didnt answer to take your call. Oh also yes, when I was there the phone rang alot but NOBODY answers it, not even the Manager. I promptly returned, got my refund and went to Mai Thai across the street instead. There was even a help wanted sign at the door for a dishwasher so the cleanliness of the bowls and glasses are questionable. Never going back, over the years its gotten worse.
Im originally from Southern California, so Im no stranger to eating Pho and I have to say Pho Bac is probably the best and ONLY place in town that serves legit Pho.If you do come here, Id highly recommend choosing one of the beef pho dishes for the full experience. Also something you wont find too often around in the Evans/Augusta area is the Thai Tea and the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. If you havent tried either of those, be sure to give it a shot. You wont be disappointed!
Wide variety of Vietnemese cuisine. They also have a delicious Japanese menu consisting if Terryaki Chicken, Steak, seafood and many other dishes. The service is always fast and friendly. Dining area is always clean. The food is excellent and the portions are large. Great value.
Pho Bac is one of the best places to get Pho in the CSRA. Ive dined in and ordered to-go; they have never disappointed me! Not only is their pho delicious, but their milk and bubble teas are too! Everything Ive tried, including appetizers and main dishes, have been cooked thoroughly to my liking EVERY time. They even have a Vegetarian friendly menu, too! If you love Pho or other Vietnamese dishes, try Pho Bac!
Co-workers and I go here often for take-out (almost always pho) and the food is always good. Taking a point off because they dont include any sauces in the take-out, which was disappointing the first time, since I got all the way to work before finding out. Hoisin sauce and Sriracha should be standard for pho, and I had even specifically asked if I had sauces in there before I left. Now I just assume they wont include them and fill them myself when I pick up my order - they at least have the little plastic cups up front so that you can. It would just be nice for convenience if they would do it, especially since those bottles are almost always sticky...
The food is excellent, which makes the lack of customers met service all the more frustrating. Can NEVER get someone on the phone to make a pick up order - feel they are losing a lot of business in this regard. I really wish I could leave 5 stars, the food deserves it, but the discombobulated staff brings it down!
My family and I went into Pho Bac around 2 or 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon. It wasnt that busy weve ordered 2 bowls of noodles and two appetizers. It took about 20 mins for our appetizer to come out and we waited at least another 20 mins or so for our noodles to come out. Needless to say it never did after about 30 mins weve decide to leave. It doesnt take that long to fix something as simple as noodles. We used to frequent this establishment but each and very time we go theres the wait got longer and longer. So I will never go back ever again. I wouldnt not regament this restaurant to anybody unless you have to time to wait for your food at least an hour.
Do not come here. The food is not worth the crappy service. Waited way too long to even get a drink order and when they finally came over, they had an attitude. Me and my friends instead went to Soy Noodle House in downtown Augusta. Better atmosphere and better service.
The food was ok, but the service was severely lacking. There was no host/hostess at the door to greet and seat people. The waiters/waitresses casually took turns seating people in different areas of the restaurant, and took turns waiting tables, often having tables on opposite sides of the restaurant. It took a while for our waiter to come take our order. When our order did come, the restaurant had run out of basil, one of the main toppings for pho, as well as an ingredient in the summer rolls. The restaurant had also run out of the boba. If there was a manager on duty, they were clearly not doing there job.
Disappointingly understaffed and not eager to accommodate all guests. I walked in and waited for about 5 minutes while those ahead of me were seated. When it came to my turn I was asked how many were in my party. I said I would like to place a to-go order and was told that I would need to wait an additional 20 minutes before someone would take my order. Im not sure what exactly made him uninterested in taking my order but he clearly didnt want my business and wanted to get to seating the people who walked in after me.
This is now the only restaurant to get pho since the other pho restaurant in the Publix plaza went out of business. Ive been there several times but only eat pho so I cant rate the other dishes. I would give the pho 2 out 5. The broth is very greasy and salty. They give you a good bit of meat but quality is not good. The service can be slow and it can be hit and miss with the waiters and waitresses quality of service.
I love love love the food. BUT the service is horrible. I have tried to call in the food multiple times or call and ask questions and in 2 years they have answered 3x. This last time i came there I called while standing in line to see if they were going to say the phones are messed up, again. The employees ignored the phone and the owner took the phone off the hook. To make it wrose I only order pho broth n it took 45 min and many people who order after me got their food before me. The waiters seem to always be streesed( most of them seem to be nice) but not so much for the owners. I am going to look for another restaurant that can give me good food and good service
The food is good, the Summer rolls are my favorite but don’t try to call and place an order to go- they frequently have issues with the phone. I think tonight they actually picked it up and set it down without saying anything and left it off the hook. I’ve called back 8 times and it keeps going straight to voicemail. We were going to place an order tonight but chose something different because of the phone issue.
Unfortunately there are only two locations in the Augusta area (that Im aware of) that serve pho. This is the closest to my house. The other is further and in what looks to be an old Captain Ds fast food restaurant. Anyway, for serving pre-made soup, they take a long time to serve our food. The noodles come in a ball which are all stuck together. This place definitely has some work to do.Wow....even when this place is empty theyre slow.
One of the hidden gems of the South!! Maybe not great for children but perfect for date or lunch with someone. Pork spring rolls are addicting and you may dream about them at night! Have been a customer for about a year and has only gotten better with more plates tried! Highly recommend
Wasted potential! This place has REALLY good food.... 25% of the time. However, the wait staff is undermanned 100% of the time.Calling to place a take-out order during the last 4 hours of business means having to call at least 3 times. At least once Ive called in an order (again they picked up on the 4th try), arrived 20 minutes later to pick it up, only to be told theyll get it started right away... :-|This place is screaming for Gordon Ramsay to come in with the Kitchen Nightmares crew and whip them into shape.Shame really..
Okay so this has got to be the most amazing Vietnamese cuisine! Nice and clean restaurant, great location! Food at first looked small, I was like oh noo! But half way through my husband and I were stuffed and had leftovers!! Our waitress got a little annoyed with me wanting condiments, lol! I saw her throw her hands up behind the curtain, lol! But she was kind at the table so not too bad! But the food was superb! Will be BAC!! Haaa! Get it!!!
I visit Martinez every so often and make it a habit to luncheon at Pho Bac almost every trip. The 4 stars are for all my previous times there. This last trip seemed off somehow. Great menu and the food is tastey, but wait-staff was new and not personable at all. Still - 4 Stars.
Hit and mixed with the servers. I will not use a male server anymore, last time I was in I asked for some butter and was told they dont have any. I said really? And he said yeah its an Asian kitchen thing. I got butter from a waitress and heard him tell her they dont give out butter. I HATE being lied to. Good food, but get a waitress, the guys dont know whats going on and make up the rules as they want to because the owner doesnt interact with the customers.
The food here is generally very good. The service is medicocre and the physical restaurant could use a facelift. They seem to be fairly busy and have been in Augusta for quite awhile but for some reason they just dont have the staff to run the front of the house properly and in the five years Ive been a customer its never changed.
Some of the best food in town. Fresh, lite and satisfying at the same time. Also some of the worst service in town. It they spent one tenth the time on floor staff as they do the food this place would be amazing. Instead the service is slow, inattentive and all around consistently mediocre.

2022-06-29I ADORE Pho Bac it is a VIBE! Hunny the food is freaking amazing and so fresh! And the service is really well done too! Our waiter was such a nice guy and he introduced me to my new favorite drink: salted lemonade! Seriously try it! The prices are affordable and the food is SO GOOD. I live a good 30 minutes away but best believe I still make time to come get my fried rice in a pot! 😍😌🥰

2022-01-12Decent food. It was the end of the night, so the pho wasnt that great. The egg rolls were good and the chicken was great. Decent service, again, it was the end of the night, so it could have been better.

2022-05-02I got the C100 - House special with comes with BBQ Pork chops, shredded pork skin, egg loaf, fried egg, small salad, and steamed rice. It was a unique combination of items that went very well together. Very fresh and fulling. While not pictured, the summer rolls we had on the side were great as well. Friendly and service quick service. Worth the try

2021-11-20On an extended visit from Brooklyn, NY and came here based on Google Reccomendations. Summer Rolls were well done with a unique addition of brisket with the traditional shrimp. Pho broth was very beefy in taste, balanced with a good mix of cardamom, anise and coriander, but was missing on the ginger and cinnamon. Pho broth is an art however this one did need a bit of lime, hoison, and a hefty portion of sriracha to level out. Generous portion of noodles & toppings with fresh basil and cilantro. Few bits of tendon had small bones left, not good, but steak/brisket was tender. Thai tea was not good, too much condensed milk and not enough spiced tea. Service was also a little patronizing but attentive to a fault. Overall location is similar to many others in the area, good food or good service, for the area this place offers decent food. Enough to satisfy a craving and, thanks to limited ethnic food options, enough for a repeat visit.

2021-11-141. The main dishes came 3 minutes after we ordered. My husband was really surprised, his dish was reheated. My pho Soup: the noddles were hard and the egg was raw (no cook enough) all the cilantro and the sprouts were hanging from the plate.2. The appetizers came when we almost finished. The egg rolls were frozen (you get better frozen ones from Publix)On top Of everything, The service was really bad. Never come back to this place.

2022-06-28Ordered the summer rolls and Bun Bo Hue, rolls were good, a bit heavy on the lettuce but the peanut sauce was spot on. The Bun Bo Hue was amazing, broth came out rich and just the right amount of spicy after you add some sriracha. The cuts of meat inside the soup were super tender and took up the majority of the dish, very delicious.

2022-04-11You must visit this place! The spring rolls with peanut sauce are awesome (get it with sriracha). The rare beef pho with all the fresh vegetables, cilantro, and jalapenos are a mouth-watering mixture of flavors. The hot pot is also a great option if you have several people who all want the sane thing. Four adults will be satisfied with just one.

2022-07-11The summer rolls and yellow curry are amazing. It’s a thicker, creamier curry than most Vietnamese curry (which is usually more like a soup), but I like it much better than any others I have tried. I have been coming here for years and the quality is very consistent.

2021-03-20I went on 3/18 for lunch and ordered the fried rice with shrimp, beef and chicken. As someone from a creole background, rice is a staple in my diet. I know when it has been reheated from a previous day. I could not finish it and I was not even full. The waitress was nice though. Sometimes this place is awesome with the food; other days it tastes differently. Maybe I need to find out the schedule of the cooks?
