So poorly managed. This is so typical of a once beautiful place taken over by those claiming to care for the environment. Humans have been swimming in this hole for thousands of years. You discover that artifacts from even the Mayans ( same a North Georgia Mountains) have been rumored to show this, and yet so call environmentalist seem to think you got to just let nature take back over leaving no positive human elements to consider. Now its becoming a smelly cespool. Lots of money raised to clean the massive algae growth.Yet two years later... Same nasty mess. Maybe all those humans in the past with their skin cells and oils feeding a healthy and balanced micro bio system is a good thing. Cuz never was an issue when swimming was allowed.
If you want to visit a natural spring surrounded by beauty then this is the place to be! It used to be a swimming hole a while back and an old casino but now it is a great place to have pictures taken or just admire the fish, turtles and sometimes gators that swim here. Also the craftsmanship of the stone walls is a sight to see! There is a walking trail and outdoor exercise facility along with it! Soon there will be a playground as well 😁
I just moved back into the neighborhood & I use their walking trails & the grounds/scenery is awesome. In the past ( before the flood) I got married inside the building. It was beautiful then & looking forward to seeing inside now. Love the Radium Springs neighborhood. I hope the repair the damaged buildings soon. It really brings the neighborhood done.
I stopped at the Georgia welcome center on i95 last night and saw this place on their bulletin board. I was thinking 3 hours was a long drive, but when I woke up this morning I changed my mind. Well worth the drive. Aside from the sounds of cars whizzing past, it was quiet and serene. I spent a couple of hours just watching the wildlife and contemplating the history of the place.
Happened to catch something about this place when looking at Google Maps. Was a great place to stretch my legs after driving four hours. Fun little history behind the place! Dont mind Mr. Ducky he was just as happy to get out of the car! (He has his own instagram too!)
Beautiful...!!! Theres a lot of history behind Radium Springs which makes it even more interesting to go visit. Family friendly environment and I read recently that they are getting ready to do some renovations on the historical buildings that are still there. We are looking forward to the renovation completion.
Beautiful and serene it would have been better if a lady with a leaf blower wasnt there in your ear the entire time she should have done that in the morning the park didnt even open today until one we came all the from Warner Robins But minus noisey lady Is give it 5 stars
This was one of me and my husbands first dates! He fell in love with it, so after he proposed, he wanted to get married here. The grounds are well kept; John Bowen is a wonderful community servant! Our photographer was able to get great pics with all the beauty surrounding!
Sad view of what was once a very cool place. Complete with high fences warning you not to have a good time. I would have loved to have seen this place back in the day before the government protected us from swimming at our own risk. 😔 All the wonderful brick walkways and steps CLOSED with cheap metal fencing.
They are really working on restoration of the original concept and design of this hidden gem. This place is well on its way to being a must for photography and wedding events. Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts will love it as well as history buffs. Dont forget your bug spray. There are security cameras being installed for safety. Cant wait on the path to the over bridge behind the springs to be completed. This has been a secret spot for a while that thankfully survived the tornadoes that destroyed much if the historic homes and others in the area. A memorial is in place to reflect and honour the memory of all the terrible disasters that over the years attempted to destroy the town.
This is a lovely place to visit. There is still some hurricane damage though. The blue water is mesmerizing. I love imagining this place in its prime. Some of the storyboards show photos so dont miss those. Adjacent is a park with exercise equipment and a walking trail.
One of the most beautiful places I’ve been to. Would definitely return!! Also, the man who monitors and takes care of the spring is one of the kindest, down to earth people! He shared so much with us, it was a pleasure to meet him. Hoping that someday they’ll be able to reopen the spring to swimming!
This is a really nice park. There is a section for walking and workout under a pavilion. There is a lookout area by the pavilion but that is not the area with a good view.Further right there is fountain remnants and a white open area with flowers with a bathroom. Downstairs from there is the picturesque view of the blue spring waters.
This was my first visit! Very impressed. The caretaker did a fantastic job of explaining in full detail the history an future of this site . Mentioning future renovations which the money has been approved for the up keep restore back to glory . Hurricane Michael did it’s damage. But soon that’ll be no signs of the incident. Looking forward to seeing the completion in a year or more. But until then I’ll be back . Especially for the exercise equipment on the premises. When I noticed a pull ups bar there my spirits was lifted immediately plus shoulder press chest legs machine there . Who needs a health club . It’s there FREE !!!P. S. I’m thinking pedal boat rides would be an excellent addition. Maybe a couple food vendors on certain holidays would be equally as nice .
Grew up in Albany in the 1950s and our school would visit Radium Springs and swim and play. Turner Air Force Base was in Albany. It was a SAC Base. Bomber flew in and out on their mission to keep the South East safe from possible attack. Turner is long gone. Radium Springs no longer has the Air Force crash system where flight crews practiced how to survive a crash in deep cold water. Also gone is the Grand Casino. Fond memories of Radium Springs, Class A Saint Lewis Cards Baseball team, and good ole Al benny as we early locals called it. Glad I posted my thoughts of Albany, last visited in 1981!
This free county park is a gem that is mostly unknown by the greater Georgia community. Once a lodge for the rich and famous the beautiful springs host all sorts of aquatic and bird wildlife. Coupled with the beautiful flora surrounding the park Radium Springs makes a great stop on the way to Florida or take a trip just to see the wonderous springs for their beauty alone.
Radium springs is one of Georgias seven wonders. There is a rich history told in the structure, geology, and plants. Swaying Spanish moss in Cyprus trees, live oaks, loblolly pines, and blooming Camilla trees greeted us in February. This is a free park. There is a health park adjacent to the spring. It has a walking track and fitness equipment.

2022-05-02I live right down the road from this absolutely beautiful garden. Radium Springs is one of Georgias most wonderful attractions and is a must visit for any traveler. Not even all of the photos can express the complete beauty of this place.

2022-03-26Lovely and peaceful place to reflect and be in awe of the wonders of God. From the trees, landscaping , and clear waters (68 degrees) Radium Springs is an ideal picture location, a romantic picnic spot, or a place to convene, pray or meditate. I love it here.

2022-06-01Very calming experience. Well maintained, peaceful, and educational. I love watching the fish swim around by the cave entrance. Wear bug spray or you will get eaten by mosquitos!

2021-10-11Loved in Albany almost a decade and never stepped foot in the park… so glad to had found it! Quiet and quaint little park, perfect for picnics or an afternoon walk. I stepped away to clear my mind and hung my hammock. Not too many people. It was nice to see people utilizing the little trail to walk around, exercise, and spend time with their loved ones. The sun hitting the trees made for a serene evening and sunset… and of course, nice pics! Highly recommended. I will be returning.

2021-12-07This place has been preserved as much as possible. Reading on some of the history of it having a casino at one time and what toll its taken after 2 hurricanes is amazing.

2022-05-29Looking good! We love this place it is so peaceful! I can picture the Native Americans in their canoes traveling to Florida every time I visit. Water is very clean, I cannot wait until they finish all the renovation projects...
