Rafaels Italian Restaurant in other cities:
My husband and I fell in love with your calzones last year while visiting Trenton. This year I was able to return but my husband wasnt :( desperate for what we lovingly refer to as a cheese grub a plan was concocted to bring one back with me so that he could enjoy the cheesy goodness. To facilitate its journey we took the purchased grub and allowed it to cool. Then wrapped it in tin foil and placed in a ziploc bag, leaving it to a cozy nap in the freezer. We put the frozen calzone in a cooler with lots of ice and embarked on a two day drive back to Texas. I just reheated it for him today (oven @ 400 degrees, for 30 min) and I can happily report it survived the cross country trek beautifully!
The food arrived reasonably quick and the four of us enjoyed our pizza greatly. Brian assisted us at the counter and was extremely polite and attentive. An exemplary employee! He even put garlic on one of our pizzas although it wasn’t on the menu. This would be my go-to pizza place if I lived in the area.
Wide variety of food choices at reasonable prices. All of the food I have tried was prepared well, seasoned nicely, and was average to generous portions. Clean environment with a laid back casual atmosphere. The go to place when youre unsure of what you want to eat. They have a bit of everything; Italian food, subs, burgers, Mexican food, Greek food, and much more. Its worth checking out.
Well I won’t complain about the pizza but the manager I spoke to told me that I should taste the product first before I leave with it!!! Wow!!! Makes me wonder other things about this town favorite of Trenton Georgia!!😳 Well I purchased three pieces of chocolate cake and I wouldn’t feed it to my dog!!! I only asked if I could just get some different desert next time we pick up? That is what I was told!! “Taste it first”.
Pizzas there are great but watch their “specials”. We called and ordered two large pizzas on their buy one get one free. Then my son wanted one for lunch the next day so I called back and ordered two small on BOGO special and stated the same person would be picking up both orders. They charged us for the two larges and took the two Smalls as free even though they were two different orders. Did not think that was fair. Probably cost us at least $10 more!
My husband and I had lunch there two days ago. Appearance and cleanliness upon everything was good. There were others dining in, and they were doing takeout orders, as the young lady behind the counter answered a call for takeout. She was friendly and polite.I ordered eggplant parm and side salad (which was extra). I didnt realize the meal came with pasta, she only told me it came with garlic toast. Presentation at first glance was nice. Second glance, you could see the oil puddled under the eggplant. When they deep fried it, either the oil was not hot enough, or it was prefried earlier, then refried before serving. Either way, it was greasy. I tried using a napkin to soak up some of the grease, but every piece was soggy.I did eat a small portion of the eggplant parm because I was hungry (this was about 2 pm), but I wasnt thrilled with it due to the grease. My meal came with (linguini ?) pasta and spaghetti sauce.I dont like green bell peppers, and they were in the sauce. The sauce had a strong bell pepper taste, so that turned me off. I ate two bites. The side salad was in a small, clear takeout container. The tomatoes in it were not ripe. This wasnt a big deal, because I usually just remove them. The lettuce was brown in many places; too many to simply remove. I didnt even put salad dressing on it, and closed the container without eating a bite.My husband ordered a ham calzone. He raved about it. Knowing I wasnt enjoying my meal, he offered me some if his. I had a couple bites of it, and it was delicious. My husband doesnt like to say anything if the food isnt good. As a result, I didnt say anything. I wish Id taken pictures to add to this review. Were new to the area. If we go back, I would order a calzone, or possibly try their pizza.
We absolutely love this restaurant- it’s a very dependable place to visit. If you order it and love it rest assured you can return a year later to enjoy exactly the same- second time around. Great service, it is however freshly made so don’t expect drive through type service. Well worth the drive and wait 😊
A pleasant surprise! Dont be thrown by the outward appearance. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and not poured from a can. Service was nice and establishment was clean. Fried pickles (spears) were very good as was the gyro, fries, and mushroom spaghetti. You wont be disappointed.
Called in an order was asked if that was all and my name when we got there the little young school girl said she could not understand me order was not placed so we had to wait another 30 minutes for a vegetable Stir fry that was charged the same amount as one with meat the salad was put in the same plate so it was hot and wilted when I got it home to my mother. Prices have also gone up almost 25% While there the same thing happened to 2 other customers will be a long while before we go back if ever
I’ve been eating here for a very long time and sadly it’s going downhill quick. I took my family out for dinner last night and we ordered two calzones both of which were made incorrectly. We had the order fixed and to our dismay both had raw dough on the bottoms, both of us lost our appetite after taking a bite of raw dough. We asked for a partial refund for them but instead of a refund they gave us free desert. This used to be a favorite place for me to eat but now I wouldn’t give it to my dog, be aware if you should decide to brave this place because undercooked food can make you very sick or possibly even kill you.
Food was good, not sure if I would call this an Italian restaurant though. They had a large variety of foods baklava was spot on. Pizza was two for one and Im looking forward to eating my leftovers. Portions are large enough to share at least the lasagna was. The dinner sauce has a sausage and peppers flavor. Didnt go great with my chicken finger parm.
Been coming here for 20 years and have yet to be disappointed. If you like warm, cheesy, comfort food pizza, you will LOVE Rafael’s pizza. They have a wide selection of toppings and great salads, too. I always go to Rafael’s when I specifically want pizza, so I can’t comment on other menu items—but take that as a compliment to the pizza! I love this place.
Terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Menu is way too big for the incompetent staff to do anything right. Then when you point out a mistake they run their mouth about you where you can clearly hear them. Ive been in the restaurant business for 14 years and i wouldnt put this place out if it was on fire. The worst dining experience Ive had in years.
The staff were absolutely not friendly or even polite. The calzone and pizza crust were really dry, as were the fries. Not really Italian, as they have stir fry and other things on the menu. We waited 15-20 minutes for our food which wasnt bad since its supposed to be made to order.
Outside looks worse than the inside. The inside is decorated good, and it is clean. Service was fair. No worker asked to assist us when we walked in to order, even after we stated, several times, it was our first time there and saw good reviews about it. Finally a customer, waiting to get his food helped guide us in a general direction. They have a lot to choose from. In fact, almost overwhelming. You walk up to a counter to order, but there are at least 100 items to choose from. Ask for a menu, they have them. (To go type) I dont advise the spaghetti and meatballs, too greasy and the meat was strange tasting. However, the cheese calzone was good, and I hear their pizza is the best. The pizza is also bogo free. They have free refills, and good sweet tea. Prices are fair, and portions are good. Overall, a rating of good
Unfortunately I was expecting an Italian restaurant, what I got was microwaved processed food that I could have microwaved at home. The chicken in the sandwich was reheat frozen, the pasta was over cooked and soggy with a no flavor.. a caned sauce. The kitchen was more worried about the take out orders than the dine in, so with the quality what should have taken about 7 min turnaround, turned into a 25 min wait for the subpar meal. It’s easy, simplify your menu and make fresh Italian food and your business will explode.
The staff [from the person taking the call in order to the manager and his wife] mishandled the issue of a sandwich that was made wrong. Customer service goes a long way to make a situation correct. Disrespect to customers of any kind is never okay. Especially from the owners. They have lost my business for quite some time.
Rafaels in Trenton, GA is my favorite pizza. On Mondays I usually call in and get the buy one get one free to take to work. The ladies and gentlemen I work with loves the Hawaiian pizza and I like it too. My favorite, however, is the chefs supreme. The vegetarian is excellent as are the calzones. I like Rafaels, and the people I work with like Rafaels, so why not make Monday pizza night. Why change a good thing!!!
Clean friendly. Food was terrible in my opinion. I got the chicken Alfredo. There was a good amount of food and surprising amount of chicken. HoweverAlfredo is very thin runny with very little flavor. My husband got some sort of meatball calzone, the flavor was just putrid. The dipping sauce (spaghetti) for our cheese sticks was more like salsa.
Most of the negative reviews that i read were small stuuf like the service? No this resturant does not serve you, because they do not have waitresses. But this is just their style. You order your food, recieve a ticket number and then wait a fairly decent amout of time. There are certain foods that are not top notch but they have over 100 choices and over half their food is delish. Overall great choice.
Great pizza, lots on the plate, eclectic menus , fast service.Though paper plates, plastic utencils, styo cups. Walk up to counter, menu on wall ,order, pay , pour your drinks, pick up utencils, sit down and wait til your order is called, pick it up ,sit down eat ,toss trash out . So simple its ridiculous,
By far the worst resturant in Trenton ga. I knew about the plastic utensils and paper plates. The deep fried mushrooms were overcooked and without any flavor. The sauce or ranch dressing did not improve the taste. I ordered the veal parma sandwich and Greek salad. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMEMT. The veal was not there... only a bread filling in its place. the salad was ice cold almost frozen and the feta cheese was hard like a rock. yes you do get a lot of food but that does not mean its good or fresh. the 16 bucks I spent for this awful meal and just throw it out the window All you out-of-towners would be better off with any of the fast food places in town
Would not replace my order without me bringing 1 day old calzone just so they could see i find it very ridicoulous and wont be back ny husband is allergic to onions and the lady insisted that they only put if u request so my husband ended up just making snadwich and threw out the mess up cause was told it would be replaced a day later stpry changes and they wont 1 day old food back just to fix what could have made my husband sick if he ate very unpleased and will not return

2022-05-11The food is good; however, when combined with the service it will leave a bad taste in your mouth. I called in my order and upon pickup I was not greeted when I arrived. Brenlee, (not sure of the spelling because a name tag was not worn), spoke in a somber tone, body launguage was slouched, she’s was running my card and just looked absolutely disgusted. When I asked her name she almost snarled. Her co worker was very pleasant though! I would suggest this restaurant search for someReal hospitality like the kind most expect in the south if they want repeat customers.

2022-06-20This place is phenomenal I highly recommended it to anyone. It has a vast variety of options everyone is sure to love. If you do get the chance to go to this amazing place I recommend going through the line of the girl with short dark brown hair, a nose ring, and glasses. She was very kind to me and overall great. Most of the other workers are good too but I highly recommend going through her line.

2022-06-08When out in a small town, I wanted to try Italian. When I got my order, the spaghetti and meat sauce looked like it was borrowed from the elementary school. Food was eatable, but I kind of walked out of there wanting to make my own Alfredo sauce just to at least feel complete. I kind of wanted to take a shower with my clothes on. But good place for young kids to enjoy.

2021-02-21Very impressed!!!! Casual dining with strangely gourmet food? Yep! I really want to try everything on the menu. I got the Cajun Fettuccine Alfredo. It was spicy not too much, the grilled chicken tenders were a good portion and size. I saw some of the other food coming out and Im sad I cant trying everything on the menu!!

2022-05-29Mmm mmm mmm…..Food is delicious and is always the same! The employees are great and they keep it extremely clean! The prices are reasonable and you never have to wait too long even though they are always busy. They’ve never got my order wrong even on carry out orders. I highly recommend this place, the Italian chicken is my favorite dish ever, out of any restaurant or home cooked meals! And they have a wide variety so there’s something for everyone. I’ve tried several different items on their menu and haven’t found anything that I didn’t like yet!

2022-06-20Came here because the internet says they are open till 10. Made our order except for my grandson because his mother was on her way. She walks in 10 min before 9 and has to wait before anyone ask her anything. When she tried to order they said they stop serving at 9. Now her and my grandson will not have anything to eat. Oh they were told she was on her way and said nothing!

2021-12-29Food was basically fast Italian food. Not my favorite. You basically order, stand around, once you get your food you choose a table, want eat with plastic ware, make your own drinks ect.Food Spaghetti with meat sauce, extra$$ for meatballs, garlic bread.Cheese lasagna topped with meat sauce and included garlic bread. Both were nice size portions but only a step above a frozen dinner, lacking flavor. The Italian burger was an over cooked, small frozen patty , drenched in Italian salad dressing, side salad was also served with the Italian dressing stuff.Service was definitely needing some improvement.

2022-02-06Best spinach and feta calzone ever. I love the creaminess and the cheesiness. When you cut it you dont have to struggle. When you eat it, it gives you that Italian bread flavor.- Samuel8 year old food critic
