My server Meredith recommended the BBQ pizza, which I had never had before, and it was phenomenal. ALMOST as good as the service I received from her, which was also grade A. I will be coming back for every Tech home game day this fall, I just hope that fantastic server is still there.
So I’m visiting Atlanta on a business trip. I was on a walk-about looking for a local, non-chain, eatery and I found this gem. This place has some tv’s and music playing. They do have a smallish bar area. It’s nicely decorated and has a warm inviting feeling. So on to the food. On the recommendation from my server I went with the calzone...DAMN!! So fab. I highly recommend, if you’re in the area, and you fancy a really good calzone, this is the place. I’ll be back the next trip to Atlanta for sure.
Its on the Georgia Tech campus..So food is pricey..I got some wings..12.99...Gotta add fries..5.00..So you tell me. Its like goodfellas...oh...my fault they got shut down...But yeah..like them..They should stick to making pizza..I learn my lesson..Not to go to pizza places wanting something else good..
My wife and I went to Ray’s pizza before Georgia Tech football home opener. As you can imagine, Atlanta was filled with thousands of people preparing to go to the game. I was definitely worried that we would not find a restaurant we would be able to get in and out of and still make it by kickoff. The manager, Brittany, was taking names at the door herself and to our surprise, we waited for only about 20 minutes, even with a large volume of customers. Once we were seated, our server was polite, enthusiastic, and quick with whatever we needed. Many restaurants currently are very low staffed and I know this may have been the case with Ray’s as well, but you would never know it! Our pizza, which was cooked to order, came out quickly and tasted incredible! We had the Hawaiian pizza and ate till we were stuffed! Brittany even came around to check on each table and we couldn’t help but praise our experience. I have been to few restaurants that handled such high volume with such speed and customer service. My wife and I are both very impressed and we will be back in the future for sure.
Ordered the two vegetarian pizzas by slice. They were decent but I think they could’ve been in the over a little longer. Or may be they took them out of the over prematurely because I told them I was in rush.Anyway, this is at the heart of the Georgia Tech campus so you can see and feel it as a college campus pizzeria. Reasonable prices.
I’m not normally one to complain but the food was overpriced for the quality. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo but didn’t even get fettuccine I got spaghetti instead and it was pretty much cold when it got to the table. My friend ordered the eggplant dip and said it tasted bad and couldn’t even eat it and the lemon on the lemon pepper on the wings tasted stale. The staff were friendly however…
Not sure what happen. My order was 6 lemon pepper wings, 10in pepperoni, and 2 bottle sodas. My bill was 28.00, and as I was trying to get the young ladies attention that took my order. She seem extra busy at that time. Thus, the food was paid for, with confusion.Ok. I made the attempt to eat the food purchased. It was not possible. The dough was not done, the cheese was not melted, and the lemon pepper wings were over cooked. As I threw the uneaten food away. All I could think was...For a 28.00 meal, and the best thing worth the purchase was the 2 bottle sodas. SAD!
Ray’s pizza had been around since a long time and they do know how to make their pizzas right!Their bases are made fresh and taste absolutely amazing!Portions are generous and they have ample seating space. Service is moderately quick and the pizza are not overly priced. It not fall in the budget category but is definitely overly expensive.Definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to have some good pizzas
The service and server were great. Thehighlight of my/our lunch experience was the napkins and ice as they were plentiful. The pizza buffet was horrible tasting. However the pies that others ordered looked pretty good. If it were me by myself I would write it off as I had a bad experience and give it another try before rating. But I was in a group of 4 and we all felt like we wasted our money.
They tried to serve me old pizza. We ordered an xl pizza and they put some cheese on an old pizza put it in the oven and serve it to us. The cheese was old and hard. We ask for a new pizza and the new one was much better. Just disappointed that they tried to serve us old pizza
The service started out great with our server. She was very jubilant and I was hoping the rest of the night would be indicative of her personality. The night got worse. The service was lackluster. The appetizer came out with the meals. We had to ask for refills and condiments. There was no anticipation of the customers needs at all. I really wanted this place to be great but it wasnt .
Great customer service from the older gentleman when I entered the restaurant. The reason for 2 stars is the quality of the pizza. I ordered 2 singles slices of sausage and pepperoni. ALL of my toppings fell completely off as soon as I picked up the pizza. Also, the cheese was barely melted. Very nice restaurant, but the pizza is distasteful.
My wife and I enjoyed an early supper at Rays. I was surprised by how good the food was. We started with onion rings. Pat had a chef salad and I got the Original Cheeseburger. Ive paid lots more for burgers not nearly as good as this. Looking forward to a return visit to try the pizza. Plus the person who served us was very authentically courteous.
Was just now here in the city and was served with phenomenal service by Bubba! He was by far the best in terms of customer service and sincerity. We will be back every time we are near rays just because of his excellent service. Oh and don’t get me started on the food my gosh everything was perfect and I will be back. Very clean, everyone was nice and if you are near by definitely come by.
One of my favorite lunch spots...great calzonesWell ... after eating here a few more time s now ...I have to change my review. This place is terrible as of late. Wait staff is slow. The quality of the food has really gone down. This last visit on 9/3 is the last straw. I sat for 35 minutes after placing my order only to find out the kitchen never received my order
I can’t comment on the food because the service was so bad, I walked out. Granted it was a busy lunch hour service, but isn’t that more of an incentive to get me out quick? I walked in at the same time another solo diner walked in, so I assume that they assumed we were together. Why?! Once that got sorted out (rather rudely by the way) they assumed I was a carry out order. Again why?! Finally I get a seat. No mention of the buffet (which I was interested in, but not on the menu) but didn’t know how much it cost. Cost benefit of my single slice versus convenience of ready to eat now, you know. After 10 minutes of waiting (during which the dude arriving at the same time had gone through the buffet twice), I walked out. If the wait to get an order taken was so slow, the kitchen was probably going to be slow too. I had invested enough time with Ray’s. No more.
When Rays first opened, the owner for it was the owner for Cedars Mediterranean on Lenox Rd. The food at that point was excellent. The service was excellent. Over time, the flavors were changed for a much less sophisticated pallet. In other words, the flavor was reduced to add padding to the profit margin. Sadly, this is still the case today. The overall flavor of the place is lacking. The garlic knots are lacking much, if any, garlic flavor. The red sauce for the pasta is watery. And the pizza dough tastes of flour. Yes, flour is used to make the dough, but you do not want to taste the flour: its bitter.I cannot recommend spending your money here.
The staff here are very responsive and cheerful. The pizza is good. It was a great experience since there arent many places like this anymore unless you go to New York.. The capital of hand tossed pizza. The owners are particularly nice and run a great restaurant. Pizza can be made to order anytime but I suggest you try the cheese pizza first and work from there. What they really need is to make sicilian pizza. All in all it is a great family run small business and the pizza as i said before is good pizza.
Had lunch here with my wife. Metered parking ($2 min), or parking lot across the street. You can order from the menu, or buffet ($10.99 w/out drink - Mon-Fri). Buffet includes salad, main courses, fruit, and dessert. Service is always great, during lunch. TVs and seating inside, and seating outdoors. If you can, sit outside. People walk by, trees overhead, and nice small area feel. Main courses on the buffet included roasted chicken parts, meatballs, fish, variety of pizza slices, potatoes, rice, pasta, vegetables, bread and more. Have been here several times. Food always seasoned just right. As always this visit was great.
I went here as a group of 5 during weekday lunch hour. It was pretty busy but they sat us right away. Service was timely too and they kept the soft drinks full. We also call for delivery to the Gt campus and they are timely about that too. The fries are delicious and the cheesecake.
Ray’s serves decent food. They have daily specials that allow you to really get your money’s worth. The service is alright. The one thing I will say is I ate there recently and my bill was only 5.72 so I tipped 1.28 to make that 7 even, yet my credit card was charged 8 which means the server changed the amount of my tip.
The service was not great. I felt like we were ignored after the food came out. The spaghetti and meatballs were ok. There were plenty of meatballs and a good portion of spaghetti; however, the garlic knots were like day old bread. I was most disappointed in the bread. It was also over done and on the verge of being burned. I might have said something if the waitress had come by to check on us. After we were finished we waited a long time for the check. Thing is, it wasnt that busy.
This was my very first & last visit to Rays this afternoon. The experience started with an upbeat greeting & slowly went down hill. I ordered a slice of Hawaiian pizza & added pepperoni/ w Italian sausage. The slice came to the table cold. I went to the counter & asked for some hot marinara sauce to help the situation, but the server brought a plastic container of runny cold sauce instead. The six lemon pepper wings were at least hot & decent, thus Im giving them one star. I would have added an additional star if my server had stopped referring to me as, my man every time I requested his assistance. Having to ask for more than the one napkin that held my silverware was a deal breaker too. Its not like the place was busy, so I didnt understand the poor experience. When I brought the experience to the attention of my server the response was, Oh, ok. Sorry to hear that. Can I bring you your check?. Soon I was paying this $15 experience in full. I left a tip because I try to support working college students, but heres a tip for management. Train your people to deliver great customer service from the floor to the kitchen && youll have better reviews. Iwatched as my concerns were NOT conveyed to management. I happen to stop in because my wife works on the campus. Needless to say, my review to her office was skip it.Ron from Alpharetta
I dont eat white flour and white sugar, so I like a place where I can get lentil soup and a good salad. That salad dressing was awesome, and you only need a small drizzle. The soup was amazing! I will definitely be back for that meatless and flourless lunch. I think I paid about $7 for that.
The staff here are professional when dealing with customer concerns. I had a issue with my order and I spoke to keven over the phone who was very understanding and when I went back into Rays with my order, West was present who also took no time in addressing the issue. They both got on top of it and handled it professionally. Overall Rays offers a great variety of food, the atmosphere is amazing, and the customer service is great!
Had to edit my review since the quality of service and food has gone down over time. Rays is good if you are dining in, although sometimes youll get unlucky and get a lazy server.Lately, their To-Go has been pretty bad. 3 times in a row now, theyve let my food sit in the box on the counter for too long before remembering its my order. They dont call out your name even though they ask for it, they just realize an order has been there for a while and ask around the room until it finds you. This happened today when the guy running the counter was just standing there for 10 minutes.Good for whole pizzas to share while dining in. Single slices and other items have been burnt when I ordered them to-go.
Only thing stopping me from giving it one star is the fact that the staff is so super friendly and their hummus is great. My husband and I stopped here for lunch and we were told what was on the buffet and we were interested. Big mistake. Everything seemed like it had been sitting for well over an hour and it was only 1:00 when we got there. Pizza was COLD, pita bread was SO crunchy instead of warm, pasta was no where near fresh, and I can’t even call their garlic knots that bc there was nothing buttery or garlicy about it. Bout broke my tooth eating their chicken soup bc I had a big long bone in it, luckily I got it before I tried swallowing. Super disappointed bc I feel like if things were actually fresh and the sternos were actually lit, things would’ve been at least halfway good. There’s potential I guess.
I visited this place on Saturday. Before ordering the Beer Pitchers, we asked the server if they serve all pitchers for $9 on Saturdays and Sundays. She said yes. So I ordered 2 Pitchers and asked for bill. I was charged $20 and $16.5. When asked, server replied that the ones I ordered isnt $9. She said all the pitchers were $9 when inquired at the start. But, I had to pay more than twice for the miscommunication done by the server.More than that, I have been charged $5 on top of the amount what I paid and signed on my payment receipt. I feel cheated, twice. Why charge customers additional amount than what they paid?
Ordered a pizza for delivery at the Marriott Marquis, the driver could not find it. I was on the phone with her for 15 minutes, trying to explain where it is! Pizza was cold and was actually the worst pizza i have ever had. I wish I could post a picture. The cheese is barely melted and there is no brown spots.... Just horrible....i should have had a sandwich from the hotel.
Got the lunch buffet. A big mistake. A lot of the items dont turn fast enough. The pasta was old, as was one pizza, the rice, and the garlic knots. As a North East native, this is certainly not NY style pizza the sauce is poor quality and the crust too thick. This is my first ever 1 star review, but this pace deserves it.
This place is great! Quick and easy. Diverse menu, something for everyone - apps, pizzas (whole pies and by the slice), salads, sandwiches, entrees, desserts... Its a good go to eatery when you dont know where to go. Service is just fine, as youd expect in a pizzeria. Theres a lunchtime buffet. Inside seating and out. Crowd varies but mostly Tech folks.
Admittedly, the service was not terrible at first. Food was okay. My problem was the employee that put in an incorrect order, I advised her of this, when she gave it to me and she said that she would comp my order. When the check came she offered me dessert in lieu of the amount, I would be paying for something I didnt order from the beginning. The food I didnt eat was taken away without an offer to box it up like it was my fault she effd up after I asked for her manager. Same manager that didnt have the decency to come over and apologize. Mistakes will be made, but if the people working there cant own up to then, I believe that is a problem. I was treated as if I made an error and begrudgingly it was corrected. Ive been there before never had an issue, but I will say that will be my last visit.
Ordered veggie sandwich. Was not good at all and I could not eat it. It was veggies thrown in pita wrap with lettuce overflowing hanging out the pita bread. It was too soggy, fell apart and was not edible unless i wanted to spoon the veggies. Which defeated the purpose of the sandwich. The donuts were pretty good. I will not order from here again because I could not eat the main course. So dissapointed because I wasted money.
Great food and atmosphere. Enough tvs to keep you entertained but not so many you feel bombarded and detached from your company. Ive been there when it was early and I was the only one there as well as part of a large group when they were busy and the service never changed. Always been top notch with attentive servers. When Im attending a GT sporting event Rays is my go-to place to grab a bite, have a drink, or kill time with friends.
Positive experience both online, over-the-phone, & at the restaurant. Traveling from out-of-state to visit GT, we had all our questions answered re: Rays menu, parking, etc. so we could include a stop at Rays on our itinerary. The garlic knots were top-notch & were only topped by the excellent & timely service by our waiter (Jordan). To round out our meal, the manager on duty (Jennifer) came by to insure all measured up to our pre-visit expectations, which it did. Thanks!
I passed by this place a million times but never thought to stop until I found it being one of few places open late one night. The pizza was amazing! Its a cute little place that seems to be family run. Not only did they have great pizza, they also had a case of delicious looking desserts that Ill be going back to try soon.
Im not sure what the big deal is with all the abysmal reviews. I hit this place up for lunch frequently since I work in one of the buildings a block away, and Ive never had any problems. I love their calzones, and Ive never had any issues with slow service or the order being wrong. The staff were always nice to me, and the food was infinitely better than the Rays by my apartment in Sandy Springs.
Regular spot for lunch during the week. They have a lunch buffet if you dont want to order from the menu. I usually order pizza slices, salad and a drink for about $10. Prices are reasonable for downtown Atlanta. Plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game or the news. It can be a little noisy. Pay parking is right across the street if you cant find a (metered) street spot.
Im from N.Y. and I live in Atlanta, and I must say as far as the pizza goes this is the best! This pizza is the same tasting as the N.Y. pizza and we all know its either NY pizza or Chicago. And this is N.Y. pizza. Ive had the other dishes and they all tast great. Only thing that I can see for it to get better is more locations need one in stone mountain GA, Decatur you guys really need to expand. Im a Broker when your ready to look into finding more rentals to expand contact me.
Visiting Atlanta on business. Was reluctant to try Rays based on the reviews, but did anyway. Food was just ok - I ordered the new Hickory Burger, which came on a toasted bun, and had a distinct smoky (almost burnt) flavor. I chose a salad over fries, which was ok, but tiny and more like a salad Id expect as a topping for a burrito, not a stand-alone salad.Service was very friendly, but slow, and not because they were understaffed or extremely busy (Sunday night). My waitress was very nice, but was way too focused on some guy at the bar to give me adequate attention (for drink refills, food, etc.)Ill be here for a week and I dont think Ill be going back to Rays. I look forward to trying the BBQ place down the street, which unfortunately is closed on Sundays, or else Id probably be writing a positive review on a restaurant!
Went to get a slice of pizza. Since the name says New York Pizza was expecting to get New York Pizza. What I got was a poor poor example of what New York Pizza should taste like. On a scale from 1 to 10 I give that slice a 4. I hope the rest of their food is better than their so-called New York slices
Calzone under cooked, had it delivered by Uber’s eats and it was straight dough, couldn’t eat it, called to complain and manager offered to make another one, but I declined because I would have to pay another delivery fee. Never again!Update- 4-24-18 just ordered another calzone through Uber eats and requested my bread be crispy and it was delivered and it was cooked well done! I was able to enjoy it, it wa yummy. Thanks!
First let me say the service at Rays at Tech Square is usually on point. But on today July 7th me and coworker went in and ate the buffet. Our service was horrible. Our waiter brought us a cup of water and then in the 30 minutes or so that we ate we never saw him again until he was summoned from his important conversation with a coworker of his. But this didnt make me as mad as seeing this black family come in and be totally ignored by the workers in the restaurant. Especially the short fat guy that works in there. I dont know what he does but it obviously his job is to ignore certain families that come in there. So finally the lady had to ask do we help our self and one of the waiters said we will be right with you. Meanwhile the little fat guy is setting up a table for something and still hasnt said two words to the family that is sitting there. Not saying hes racist but that is suspect seeing as he spoke to the white customers that came in there. I will never spend my money in places that single people out based on gender, race or whatever reason. I will never go there again
NASTY COLD OVERPOWERED WITH GARLIC AND STOP INSULTING NY PIZZA WITH THIS OFFENSIVE PAPA JOHNS TYPE PIZZA.NY PIZZA CRUST WHEN WE SAY WELL DONE NOT BURNT MEANS CRISPY AND CHEESE RUNNING OFF WHEN YOU BEND IT AND THAT CHEESE IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD QUALITY...HOW ABOUT WE CALL YOU RAYS GA PIZZA NY IS OFFENDED BY THIS 1 MOST DEFINITELY!!
The pizza at the pizza buffet was okay. The chicken and rice and other dishes were an odd combo to include in the buffet with pizza. At about $15 with drink, tax and tip included, the food costs about the same as other midtown restaurants. Thats a little high for an okay buffet though.
I hate when out of state pizzerias call themselves NEW YORK and there the furthest thing from it. Im from Uptown and its no where close. If someone whose supposedly from ny rates this more than 2 stars theyve been in Georgia TOO LONG. Bland, non existent sauce and the crust is doughy. Please change your name to Rays Pizza. Yours truly, A REAL NEW YORKER
Do not trust the hours they have posted or what anyone tells you on the phone. They regularly close the kitchen earlier than their stated time of 10:30pm. Go to somewhere like Fellinis instead, at least they wont change their closing time after you literally called an hour earlier to ask about it.
Called in an order to go. Walked in and was ignored by the female cashier who helped a customer before me and walked away from the register without speaking to me and a man whom I presume to be the owner before I said something. The pizza is okay; the customer service is terribly lacking.
Loved it.. I stumbled apon this place on a busy Friday when traffic was unbearable... I knew it would be at least an hour or more before i was able to get to my destination, so i Searched for new York style pizza on my waze app and lots of places were in the area.. Rays was nearby and oh man.. Its like the pizza was designed just for me. Reminded me of Giuseppes pizza in Milwaukee wis. When I was a kid.. Just talking about it... I think Im gonna grab us a pie tonight.. Haha .. Chris C.

2022-05-02Three stars because the food was edible. Im not sure why its called Ny pizza because its not even close. Its just as basic as basic gets with this pizza. Sign says everything is made from scratch...might be but I doubt its freshly made. I could be wrong but thats the taste I got from it and that includes the burger and fries.I originally ordered the wings but was told they had sold out of them. This was almost an hour after they opened and they werent busy.Like I said, its edible if youre in the area and need a quick bite. If youre expecting anything more, try some place else. The service was good.

2022-01-29Party of eight. Every thing came out great, on time, and everyone loved the food. Pizza the best I’ve had and broad selection of really tasty Mediterranean items. Lots of options for a nutritious meatless meal. We live out of town, but will be back for more. Oh, also friendly intelligent staff. You can’t go wrong here!

2022-02-21I came in Saturday and I got startled by how busy it was and I was second guessing my visit as i was touching the door but I was greeted by a nice man as soon as I walked in with a great tone like he was ready for me even before i arrived. The food did take some time but it was only because the place was packed so i expeceted it. The server came over to ask if i needed anything many times. She was amazing. I left happy because the pizza was great and i wasnt forgotten about even in hard times!!!

2022-04-02We were out walking & saw a sidewalk sign for Rays that boasted of luncheon specials at great prices so we venture in. The food & service were really really good! I was surprised that the serving size was so big for such a reasonable price! If I were still working downtown Spring St this would be one of my go tos.

2022-02-19This was our 2nd time attending this establishment. We usually take our order to go however when we recieved our order we decided we will stay and dine in. Zane gave us our pizza and we mentioned we would like to dine in instead, he said no you guys can not stay here. It is our policy that when you purchase your food to go you have to leave the restaurant. I was like, really. He then went on to say because this policy was put in place because of the homeless always wanting to come in and dine. My sister then said, we are not homeless. I even mentioned that we will definitely tip the waiter. He then said, if I I do this for you, I have to do it for everyone. His attitude was so unprofessional. I asked to speak with the Manager and he said I am the Manager. We then asked for our money back and his response was no problem. This was disheartening and disappointing. I will never eat at this establishment again.

2021-03-26The food was delicious! I am from out of town and the wings were amazing and the onion rings. The food was made quickly and the staff was nice !
