REI in other cities:
I brought in a new set of gravel tires (Panaracer GravelKing) for a tubeless setup. The employees were extremely helpful and spent over an hour attempting to get the tires to seat. Unfortunately, a manufacturer defect made it all but impossible. They recommended another tire (Schwalbe G1), which seated immediately. I’ll be returning the Panaracers and am extremely happy with the new setup. Thanks REI Bike Shop for all the help!
Came in on a busy Sunday, Steve at the backpacking area took excellent care of us. Was super friendly and patient with us newbies. He was very informative and definitely took the time to make sure that we were getting packs that were right for us. He also gave us a great Pro tip about a long-handled spoon that my husband loves. Highly recommend this location, excellent staff and good selection of items.
The staff here are always great and extremely helpful, but I specifically want to call out Bill, Erick, and Anthony (& others) over in the bike shop! I recently bought a used mountain bike that was a bit of a minefield. These guys did a phenomenal job taking time out of their day to educate me, provide options in suggested maintenance, and reassuring me nothing truly major was going on. I did end up having two big items needing to be replaced, and because of their help (specifically Bill & Anthony) replacing the items was painless. They all went above and beyond their normal responsibilities and its easy to see that all of them are passionate about what they do, the service they provide, mountain biking and the customer. Extremely grateful for this team and highly recommend them!
Im a boy scout who is going to be attending Philmont soon, and I went looking to get some supplies that I could start getting used to and breaking in. I first went to the tent section and there were a lot of options, but an employee was able to give the pros and cons of all of them. I then went to the shoes section and an employee helped narrow my options from all of the shoes to just 4 options, because he understood which shoes were the better choice. The employees here are very well versed in what they do, and people should definitely go here for equipment.
Great store for all Outdoor AdventuresBUTThe 20% d8scount membership sounds good but they do not tell you there is a $20 fee to sign up. Kind of a bait and switch; I would expect better from a high end store than to try and sneak in a $20 fee on the receipt for each of us no less....
Great experience at this store every time I come in. It is laid out in a common sense way that makes everything easy to find, there are plenty of knowledge employees that are always wiling to help, and the place is always clean, neat and tidy. Store is properly stocked as well with all of the most popular items! Only category I wish they kept some stock of is Overlanding Gear!
I love my local REI in Birmingham, but I had my first bad experience here in Alpharetta today. Carol was very rude and unfriendly when I returned 3 items I bought a few weeks ago that did not fit. She acted as if I was really putting her out and it was obvious how annoyed she was with me. After some heavy sighing and eye rolling she processed the return. I was then in the shoe section and she came by me and I swear she even gave me a dirty look! There was a young man with a beard who was very helpful in the shoe department but Carol made my whole visit there uncomfortable. She was rude and short again with me when I checked out. Not a thank you or anything as she checked me out. I know this is not the norm for REI, but I won’t be returning to this location.
If you need hiking boots, you need to hit up Chuck! He knows his stuff. He took his time to fit us and answer all our questions. We actually did not follow his advice exactly and regretted it. We realized quickly how right he was. This guy is now my go to for show advice. Thanks Chuck!
I love REI in general, the staff is always very friendly and helpful. I stopped in to get Christmas presents and they were able to help me choose accessories for an activity I am not familiar with. As far as COVID precautions go, everyone is required to wear a mask and the check out counters are wiped down between customers. I also noticed that this location is less cluttered and crowded than other shops in this strip mall which made my new stranger danger impulse happy.
I visited the REI ALPHARETTA store today and was welcomed in by Eric. From the moment that we met he made 100% sure that all my needs were met. He shared his knowledge, gave guidance and was open and honest in all he told me.Eric listened to my question and answered it perfectly.I was them assisted by Megan regarding the actual transaction and she too listened to my request and made sure that she did all that she could to ensure I was happy.Eric walked me to my car with my 2 new bicycles and I left the store feeling that I had just experienced the best customer service I have ever experienced.Thank you, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOUR STORE !!!!!
Excellent visit. The gentleman at the door was very friendly and help me to find what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the store was out of my product but a lady was extra helpful in helping me find something similar. This was my first time in an REI, ever. Very nice place!
Our recent experience shopping for a new bike was great. Our son just had outgrown his previous CO-OP branded bike. Judit was very knowledgeable and recommended a bike that is a better fit for our son compared to what was in-stock at the store.Judit helped us order it to be delivered to the store. We were told that it might take a week or a little bit longer for the bike to arrive at the store but we were very excited to get the notification that it was ready for pick up in only 4 days after we ordered it.A few minor tweaks were done to the bike to ensure a proper fit and Judit also helped attach the water bottle holder. Judit also provided some recommendation on some bike racks for our vehicle.Overall we had a great experience. Thank you Judit for all of your help and recommendation!
Great staff and management team! Thank you for taking care of your customers! I had a few issues with an REI brand tent that I received as a gift, and Julia went above and beyond to help me out and find the info we both needed to process a return and make the situation right. I really appreciate excellent customer service and people who take pride in the work they do.
Today was my 2nd time at this REI and I have to say the staff at this location is the most helpful of any outdoors store Ive been to. The honest and practical advice you can get from the staff here in minutes sure beats hours of research online.Today I worked with Jim to troubleshoot some issues Ive been having with running shoes on my long run. His patience, depth of knowledge and experience were top notch.
REI is one of my favorite stores. They have their own brand of merchandise and it very good quality! I especially like their products that are filled with down feathers because they use really soft fabric on them, so you will probably be really comfortable in them. I am actually hoping to get a job at this location because it is closest to where I live and I want to share what I know and have learned about the merchandise they sell here with other people.
Bill in the bike shop did a great job helping transform my vintage racing bike into a more comfortable, flat-bar road machine. Initially, he offered his opinions on what changes would be feasible. I chose/ordered parts myself and brought them in for the team to install, along with some new fit adjustments. The bike was ready in less than a week. Without being asked, and without pointing it out later, Bill worked his magic on some long, unsightly frame scratches that had been there 20+ years. Somehow they are pretty much gone. This was the 3rd bike I brought in within the past few months for Eric & Bill & Anthony to work on. Thank you, fellas.
I am a member in REI for a good 2 years until now. The guy at doors making obvious signs to the girl in the billing, made us feel bad. Looks like they were suspicious on my wife who was with my son on the stroller, while she was billing the stuffs we picked. She was looking around for me as I just step a bit looking for other stuffs. We may be wrong but it felt like people like us look suspicious, as he didn’t make such signs except us.
Rei is a favourite for me, very high standards on friendly customer service.I was educated and advised in a very professional and efficient manner, great experience and inspiring. If you are into outdoors, biking, hiking, camping and outdoor activities, you can find great solutions and people willing to help and recommend great options to make your experience more fun and practical. They also showed me the online options on their website and ways they can get the products for you making shopping easier.Highly recommended.
I just wanted to say how much I love the bike department. Bill is so personable and professional. I’m a stay at home mom that rides her bike with her son sometimes in Roswell and I wouldn’t go any other bike place because y’all are the best (FYI I have tried other fancy bike places near me) Love love you guys :)
This is a much smaller REI and lacks a variety of great products. Also the staff is not the most educated on the products or stock they do carry. Be prepared to research anything you want on your own because even backpacks and sleeping bag sizing is done horribly at this location. Still great for the basics and a fun place to go close by.
This is the best place in town to take your bike for a tune-up. Eric is like the dog whisperer for bikes and he can diagnose them a soon as you cross the doors. He could probably do a bike tune-up with his eyes closed and also will save you money fixing parts rather than buying new ones. Affordable prices and the most friendly service ever. I will keep bringing my bike to REI.
Great customer-oriented service. Get the membership- theyll give you 10% back as store credit each year. They are awesome about returns and exchanges. I cant buy clothes on the internet, so Im glad they opened a location here in Alpharetta! Just about everything Ive gotten from these folks has been excellent quality.
Today was my very first time shopping at REI. I went in looking for a north face book bag and quickly found the one I wanted. I got up to the register and the girl sounded so unenthusiastic that I could barely understand a word she was saying. I live 45 minutes away from REI so this was quite the trip for me. I have recently lost my ID and she would NOT let me purchase the book bag with my credit card. I offered other cards with my name on it for her to feel more comfortable but she would not listen. I wish I would have gotten her name but I left angry and probably will not ever return.
I absolutely love REI. Great freindly and knowledgable staff. Be sure to become a member, there are tons of benefits. They carry all of the best brands and the REI branded gear is very good also. This location is large and clean. Parking is very easy to get in and out.
Grand Store where you get each and every items required for hobbies especially maintaining, rock climbing, Ice skating, river rafting, biking (cycling), camp related activities. You can even get specialized clothing, caps, shoes etc. You can get specialized GPS and walkie-talkie. Food items including utensils.REI also conducts activities for hobbiest.
I really like going here, especially for running shoes. They have a decent variety and great brands.I was disappointed once when I bought a running shoe and found that they werent comfortable for running and I tried to return it after 2 wears and the guy in customer service did not allow it so I was stuck with shoes that were over $100 that I didnt wear all but for what I didnt buy them for.But otherwise, Ive usually had great customer service and usually no hassle exchanges.

2022-06-06I was reluctant to visit the bike shop because my mountain bike is twenty years old, Bill W said not to worry and he would take care of it: best service of all time. My bike came bike brand new and now I cant stop riding it. If your bike needs help, Bill is the man! The prices were super reasonable and spelled out on the sign so you know exactly what to expect. I wont go anywhere else for bicycle service.

2022-04-15Great shopping experience at this location earlier today. Julie was extraordinarily kind, helpful, and attentive with choosing some clothing for my upcoming trip. I didn’t get a chance to thank her personally.…but she made my shopping experience effortless..for which I’m extremely grateful!!

2022-06-26Make sure you hold onto your receipt for a lifetime if you plan on getting anything lifetime warrantyed exchanged at this location. But oh wait if youre a member you dont need it. I happen to become a member after my first pair of Darn tough socks I purchased from REI along with thousands of more dollars of equipment before my Appalachian trail hike. However I found out that they cant help me with my exchange for my first pair of darn Toughs because I dont have my receipt and I didnt purchase it while I was a member.. Thank you so much manager. You do a real good job smiling in the customers face and explaining how you cant help them. Disgraceful to managers everywhere.

2022-05-17I drove to this location because the Perimeter location was closed for construction (although it said open online). I buy all 3 of my kids Keen sandals every year for summer vacation. I was not greeted nor assisted in the shoe department. Two other men who came in after me were promptly greeted and helped. I even walked up to the associate and waited next to him patiently but I was never acknowledged. There are also no keen sandals there for kids so far this year. I was open to buying Tevas but could not even get that far.

2021-08-02Large selection, and lots of camping stuff I didnt know about. They provide masks at the door, and I appreciate that, even as mask restrictions are lifted.

2022-05-30Good store, supports good things. I especially like that they opt outside and give employees the day after Thanksgivig off. People wanting stuff will still be around later.

2022-07-04Thrilled with the service of my road bike. I brought it in for a chain replacement and the team begins to show me what other adjustments need to be made to ensure the bike doesn’t hold me back from the podium!
