REI in other cities:
Im not that knowledgeable about moisture wicking so I stopped by REI and talked to Chris. He explained to me the difference in moisture wicking for winter and summer clothing and other things. Two times I asked him for help and both times I left the conversation with more good information. I was then able to make good purchases! Of course there are plenty of choices here!
This is the best REI in the area. The staff it extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They ask questions and make sure that the gear they are showing you is right for what you need it for. They also offer classes and many other opportunities to opt outside. I highly recommend this store for any of your outdoor activity needs, and if they dont have what you are looking for, they will point you in the right direction as to where to get it.
Everything was great as usual, it just doesnt feel like it used to. Plenty of helpful staff but I dont feel the passion. That being said, it was an easy return from a mail delivery that didnt fit and I couldnt resist buying some Pantagonia and Mountain Hardware outdoor wear even though it was full price. Ive never done that without a 20% off discount coupon before!
This was my first time to visit REI. I went with my son who wanted to purchase a pair of boots. While there, I was very impressed with the quality of merchandise. The sales staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products. Unfortunately, we arrived shortly before closing time, so I wasnt able to look around as long as I would have liked. I will definitely be back.
Don is the Man!! Things are tough through this whole Covid mess, but don was extremely accommodating, and made things happen despite some confusion between the online ordering and the in store stuff. REI perimeter and Dons ability to adjust and accommodate, is why I love REI.
Bought a Thule Motion XT cargo box from here. Excellent customer service! Carlisle went through the trouble of assisting me with installing it to my car as the box wouldn’t fit inside. Vivian (can’t remember name clearly) was also great in assisting with the purchase.
Went there to buy a tent and some equipment for a hike on the Appalachian trail. Overheard the good advise to another client from a super enthusiastic female staffer (short hair, middle age, sorry that I dont remember your name) and am very happy with what I bought. Made a mistake at the cashier. It was like one minute before the closing time. Thought id have to come back as for some (real) technical reason the problem couldnt easily be corrected. But the store manager stepped in, found the problem, solved it and stayed the extra ten minutes needed while remaining the friendliest person. It was my first time ever at REI and I had heard about the general attitude to clients. Im now a convert!
I love shopping at this store. The staff is very friendly and informative. There was a comment made about the store not being dog friendly. In response and support of REI; I think it is rude and selfish to assume that other shoppers are okay with dogs in the store. Not allowing dogs, keeps the store from becoming a dog park. Kudos to REI.
Everytime I turned around someone was there to help me. If you ever worked retail imt has a vive like corporate was visiting. Was shocked that this was one of the bigger REI stores. It appears smaller than the one in Birmingham, AL but they said this is one of the largest stores (I guess by sales?)
This a pretty nice store. Large selection compared to the other nearby store. Was more relaxing as the staff was not constantly asking if you need help like the other store. I know they are just doing there job but it gets to be a bit much. As an introvert I prefer this place lol.
I love this REI. Its close to home and the staff is incredible. Most staff at REI are just really amazing people who are super knowledgeable about their product. Im very happy with the stock and information I received at this store. The classes are also really awesome. Definitely recommend becoming a member! The dividends keep me coming back!
The store has absolutely everything you need outdoor/camping related. From the second we stepped through the door, we were greeted by the most personable staff and their customer service was 10 out of 10. Maria helped us get everything we needed and we felt like we truly made a friend. Seriously, an incredible experience. Thank you REI and THANK YOU Maria.
Prior to owning a dog I loved this store. Being a dog owner and not being allowed to bring Fido inside your stores is a basis to lose me as a customer. I will shop local, try mountain high outfitters instead which is dog friendly and has better products and prices. It’s an utter shame the disrespect employees show towards customers with dogs. Even non-outdoor stores allow dogs. You should stop selling dog related products because you aren’t dog friendly.
I’ve never felt the need to leave a bad review about any store, but the way I was treated at this location was enough to do so. I was going in to exchange a pair of shorts because I mistakenly ordered the wrong size. This was my first time at this location I didn’t know where everything was located and I didn’t know if what I needed was in stock or not (since covid some stores have a limited supply of items). I asked the lady at the exchange line to see if she could help me exchange the shorts and she had answered with a yes. Before I was done asking if they had the size I needed she immediately told me I had gotten a refund. She then proceeded to tell me it was MY fault for not having the items ready in hand when doing the, what was supposed to be “exchange”. I wouldn’t feel deeply about this if I hadn’t seen the woman before me in line getting treated so nicely. And then comes a woman of color and the energy changes. It’s 2020 and I’ve seen enough of this in retail stores. Do better in picking employees, they do after all represent your store.
Real helpful staff who know all the different products and differentiating qualities like the back of their hands. Got high quality goods for everything I needed to do the full range of outdoor and high adventure activities both through Boy Scouts and for fun. Nice job!
Went to get a valve core replaced on my mountain bike and was given exceptional service. I am unsure whether this sort of treatment trickles down from management or whether it was just that the particular person who assisted me (Karl) was kind and knowledgeable and efficient. The work was done as quickly, honestly, and transparently as possible. I was charged a very reasonable price. On top of it all, I got a lesson on how to perform the repair should it happen again.Overall great service. Highly recommend.
Will never use this company because of its stance on Georgia voting reform. I bet ID is required to get a job at this location. I also believe they will instruct their employees on what times to come to work. We have alternative companies in Georgia and need to stop supporting these companies.
Decent selection of outdoor gear and accessories. I do wish it had more selection in some areas such as shoes, boots and bicycles but I realize they are limited by size of the store and contracts. Friendly and helpful staff and good return policy make this a good stop for any outdoor adventure needs.
The employees here are on target! They are willing to help and great at multitasking customer questions in the backpacking section. Much thanks to Gene and Dawn who helped my husband and I get fitted for backpacks. We learned a lot about what to look for in a pack and lots of other good bits of information for the trail.
Great hiking store. I come in for all my hiking needs here. Sometimes if i find a better price online, ill come into the store to check it out in person first. Theyre always very helpful and sometimes do have some great clearance items. My partner bought a patagonia backpack for $47 when the original price wa$ $159
This is a great company that your loyalty as a customer pays off in an annual dividend with the membership card. Im very pleased with the products, the warranty replacement options offered and professional advice given. This location is subject to change hours , to close during posted hours based on managers disgression.
The people at REI by Perimeter Mall are just lovely. I had gone to the Northeast Expressway location last weekend and was completely ignored. Wont make that mistake again! The Perimeter location happened to be out of the size shoe in the style I wanted, but the nice guy (Abraham) helped me try other styles and sizes until I knew I really needed what I originally sought. I learned a ton, and he arranged the order and shipping, which is free for items over $50. Im a happy girl!
I love to shop and visit REI although they are not always the least expensive they normally are very knowledgeable. They have all types of equipment but what I love is the access to the trips that are categorized by skill and fitness levels. Some of these trips you can win just by being a member.
I went in yesterday & met Diane who went above and beyond! I had some spinning shoes and needed new cleats. She called where I spin, BURN in Brookhaven, and asked them what cleats fit their bikes. She then replaced my cleats and spent about 45 minutes with me. So appreciative!!!! Oh, no additional charge!
Love this place! It has practically everything you need to gear up and get active. Informative and friendly staff always around, but give you room to breathe and browse. I head here to plan all my adventures to the great outdoors here. I take classes and workshops and collect checklists for everything I need until I check out the cost of the gear. Then I revise my plans to a day hike at the nearest state park or an intense viewing session of NatGeo programs! Live for the sales though. When they happen, they are awesome! 50% off, why yes, I do believe Ill buy these.
REI is the best toy store if you are an outdoorsy person ( hiker, biker, camper, paddler, rock climber etc. Not a sporting goods store so no fishing poles or ammo here.) It is not the cheapest but they have a great return policy and for a measly 20 bucks you get a lifetime membership to the co-op which means money back at the end of the year and special sales and discounts. Just looking around here is a blast.
The bike department here sucks. Many of the folks working in this department at this store were giving incorrect information on bike fitting and what to look for when choosing a new bike. Additionally, they were extremely (almost to the point of being outrageously) rude to myself, the rest of my family, and several other customers who were patiently waiting to be served yet were blatantly disregarded by the folks working in the bike department. They made no effort to take care of us and were extremely lazy and disrespectful in the performance of their duties. The worst one is Peter. If you have to deal with him, just go to customer service and find someone else. He is terrible and a jerk.
Having previously worked at REI when it first opened in New Jersey (the Marlton store), I was somewhat surprised how little interaction I received from the associates. I was not approached once for help, nor was my mother in law. The changing rooms had tons of clothes piled inside. We waited nearly 10 minutes in line before the associates made it to the front to help with check out. When we finally interacted with the associates, they were helpful, but definitely did not have the charisma of the REIs of the past.
REI Sandy Springs used to be great, but I was very disappointed today when they didnt have enough staff to assist me with just trying a few pairs of shoes on. Selective customer service mixed in with this issue and an hour of standing around waiting will never add up to a good customer experience. Get it together please REI.
Ive been a REI member for 26-27 years and today after they rushed us at the door violating our social distance to pet our sons puppy they told me and my wife we could shop their but our 4 year was not allowed to enter because he didnt have a mask. We informed them mask traumatizes him and they still informed us we could shop but not our son. Instead of leaving the 4 year old on the curb we left.
Youre out of luck. The easiest way to lose a long time customer is to look at them and say that sentence. Not asking who I am, what the issue is, or even caring to assist. Whats the point of even being a Co-Op member. What a joke it all seems now. That smug smile and the youre out of luck at customer service made my blood boil. How unfortunate. REI is one of the last few shops where I enjoyed coming in. After that 5 minute interaction, theres no reason to come in.
I injured my foot recently, which has caused constant pain in the arch and palm of my right foot. I have gone to 2 doctors and 3 other specialty shoe stores with no luck. Zack let me try on just about every shoe at REI and his first option happened to be one of the least painful shoes Ive ever worn (Altra Superior 2.0 Trail-Running Shoe). The shoe has amazing support and I wish I knew about them sooner. Zach you are awesome!
The associates of this store do not know the definition of customer service. Had a bike tire tub replaced a week ago and now it was flat with no signs of puncture. Took to eh bike shop to have them replace the tub AGAIN. The bike technician gave me crap about replacing the faulty tube. Had to get the manager involved and the bike tech still acted like he knew nothing about customer service. From now on I will take my bike to Decatur Bikes for service. I will never purchase anything again from this store.
I had been a loyal customer (and co-op member) of REI for almost twenty years, starting with the store in Brentwood, TN. Ive spent thousands with them over the years. Now, Im going to give Amazon all my outdoors business! It took a lot for them to lose my business ... but nothing less than an REI employee (his name is Andy, FYI) rolling his eyes about the status of my hopelessly lost order, YELLING AT ME, then CALLING THE COPS TO HAVE ME REMOVED from their property rather than try to explain REIs incompetence and lack of concern for my loss.On May 31 of this year, I ordered a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized tent for pickup at my local REI store (Perimeter in Dunwoody, GA). On June 4, I was notified that the tent had shipped, and would arrive in Atlanta on or around June 7. It didnt. No big deal. Surely, it would get there soon. Nope, not even after several more days, at which point I contacted customer service to track the delivery (those air quotes are purposeful). They assured me that it would arrive soon, most definitely before the weekend of June 16, when I had scheduled a camping road trip to the Florida Keys with my new Tepui tent to write a magazine story about Keys-hopping via car-top camper. Wrong again! And guess what? REI DOESNT TRACK PACKAGES SHIPPED TO THE STORES! This progressive company in the 21st century relies on medieval technology (bills of lading) to keep tabs on their pick-up merchandise! Brilliant. So, no one (and by no one I mean from corporate all the way down) has any clue what happened to my order. To their credit, higher-ups have tried to recompense this nightmare to some degree, but how do they atone for one of their managers losing their cool in a customer dispute (that never happens in retail, right?), then going with the nuclear option when they cant handle the heat from a customer who is rightly exasperated about a chain-reaction of screwups and excuses?Dont let the co-op dividend (meager at best) fool you: Amazon Prime is a better deal, and you can avoid having your order disappear in the ether!
While visiting the area and the Anniversary sale coincided, I had no choice but to stop in REI.I had to buy another tent, at least it wasnt another stove, and sleeping pad. Transitioning from backpacking to car camping I was looking for tent with standing room.Rick in camping was extremely helpful and open with my questions.I did purchase the Kingdom 6, footprint, garage and Exped Duo. It was intuitive and easy to raise and break down. The garage space is larger than my backpacking tent! Two weeks later we try it out. Awesome.

2022-05-25I absolutely love coming here for my outdoor goods, biking accessories, and general convention-survival needs. The staff are awesome, the selection is great, and return policy and merchandise quality put my mind at ease. It is worth spending the extra to buy it here than it is to buy it online. There are a few things that I wish they would carry that are unique (such as my quick drying running shoes), but thats okay.

2022-06-10I have always enjoyed buying shoes from this store. A few years ago I bought my hiking shoes here and that was a good experience. Today a worker named Bradley helped me get a pair of running shoes. He was very knowledgeable, describing the subtle differences among shoe brands with great detail. All in all, great purchase experience. Will be back again.

2022-04-29Excellent service and quality. When you enter most large stores, its hard to even find a service representative. At the REI store, a representative proactively asked what am i looking for, then look me to the relevant section, while explaining the entire layout. Then another amazing section representative patiently explained my options, listened to my choices and helped find the right pair of ON cloud shoes. When i needed a different color, she found it online and helped me with the order details. The check out rep efficiently placed the order, while explaining the shipping timelines and return options. This store and their representatives put your faith back in customer experience. All of this in under 15 mins. The shipment arrived on schedule and I didnt have to pay any extra fees. This is how a brick and mortar store can give the online e-commerce market a run for their money.

2022-06-20I am a coop member so this maybe biased because I love REI. However, this is one of the best REI locations. One time Harrison at the store was particularly helpful during my store visit even when I made my shopping experience an ordeal for him. Thank you guys for maintaining the store so well!

2022-05-12Ive frequented various REIs from the west coast to the east and Ive had great experiences, but this by far was my best. Im a stickler for customer service and representatives being knowledgeable and helpful and thats what I found here. I had not made it to my destination within the store and I was approached by Yvon asking me if I was searching for anything in particular. I told her the backpack brand I was looking for and she lead me right to it. She then proceeded to ask me if Id been measured, which I hadnt, and educated me on my backpack size. She also showed me a comparable pack that might interest me. While assisting me, she also helped two other customers. I was empressed by how she helped every customer she saw and made each one feel seen. Yvon is great and I think her for her assistance because it was definitely noticed!

2022-05-07Everyone here is so helpful and very kind. I came in with my stroller and baby, and the salesperson offered to carry my cooler out to my car after talking to me for a long time about the Co-Op and helping me figure out which Yeti was right for me. Thanks so much!

2022-04-16I would like to say I like REI but they have literally been a rain cloud in what should be a happy part of my life. On limited time I wanted to apply for a Credit Card instore tô buy a tent and other things I needed last minute. Was told by the manager Levin that I could not apply in-store, only online and would be given a temporary card.I had to buy a membership (which I did not want) to even apply. When I finish applying I’m told I can’t use the card for 7 days and that if I wanted a temporary card I should have applied in store (Which the manager said I couldn’t do) so now I have to overnight a tent off Amazon.com (bless them) and have to pay $30 to be a member of a store that can’t even handle a simple credit card application. I was ready to spend about 1k in products from REI and now I will gladly spend that money anywhere else but this store. Thanks for nothing. After speaking to customer service they apologized for the mix And gave me a gift card. Which still doesn’t solve my credit card problem so I’ll still take a hit but the gift card helped changing my rating from 1 to 4.

2022-06-22Not the same REI I grew upWith :(. More corporate more focus on accessories and clothes and not on outdoor gear. Employees don’t seem to be just people that like outdoors anymore.Last two visits feel like I was followed around by employees watching me. I get they need to make sure people are not steeling but hey Im here for fun and it’s less and less fun shopping in person at REI.

2019-06-11Stopped by here recently and as always, love visiting REI. The store is located in a small plaza on Perimeter Center West and not that easy to spot from the street. The store itself is relatively small compared to most REIs. That said, they did seem to carry a bit of everything youd need though with limited variety.Overall a nice, clean store but

2021-11-15Came to this location a few weeks ago to purchase an electric hand warmer for an outdoor even. The manager in the store was really helpful and knowledgable about the products. He had used many of them himself and mentioned the pros and cons of each one available in the store. I purchased a faulty one and process of returning it was swift and easy. I would definitely be back because the service was so excellent.
