Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta MidtownGeorgia Tech in Atlanta
The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. My room was not well maintained--broken coffee pot, broken iron, no ironing board, noisy refrigerator, dirty dishes in the cabinet-yikes!, pillowcases smelled fusty. It was one thing after another. I understand that services were curtailed due to Covid, but does no one check the rooms to make sure things are in working order and the room is maintained? There was a large 2 1/2-3 bug running around on the carpet and floor. I called the front desk for bug spray and was told they had none. I spent the next hour playing hide and seek with the tentacled roomie before I was able to confine it under an inverted recycling can. The breakfast was a swing and a miss---Poptarts, granola snack bars, packaged greasy danish and muffins, bananas, instant grits in a package (really?), some sausage patties and some odd-looking, unappetizing round fried eggs. I did see some small yogurts one morning. There was coffee but it was only available until mid-morning. I tried the breakfast the first morning and was sorry I bothered. How bout cut the crap and just have fresh muffins/croissants, yogurts, a variety of fresh fruit, and breakfast cereals/granola? Im a Marriott fan; but, this location needs to have a cadre of Marriott management descend like locusts and do some intensive hospitality and housekeeping training. Marriott can do much better. Laundry machines and dryers were grubby. Valet was very courteous and the gents had their heads screwed on straight.
I frequently stay at Marriott brand hotels and was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel for the following reasons: noise, poor upkeep and cleanliness. I am a business traveler and need some sibilance of rest before my meetings the following day after travel. They placed my in room 207 which had to be the worst room in the hotel for quietness. The room sits right above the street, across from a sports bar which I witnessed to be very popular after hours. 2 nights there were car alarms that went off in excess of 1 minute between 2-3am and there was a service delivery truck parked outside my window with flashing lights that was similar to a fire truck. The window in the bathroom had mold and cobwebs and lots of dust under the sink cabinet. Lastly, I utilized the fitness center and found out the only elliptical machine did not work. When it came time for me to receive my survey to review this Marriott site the email was sent to me in French. I found that very interesting since I am a registered frequent rewards member and dont speak/read French (I had to manually change it back). I know this experience could have been much better if the management team paid more attention to detail.
I travel frequently and stay in many hotels and Airbnb’s/VRBO’s. I have to say this was one of my favorites. The room was perfect, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and 2 burner stove. Definitely enjoyed the balcony with great people watching! Great restaurants within walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here again!!!
I stay at this hotel every time I come to Atlanta. I find it always clean the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s close to many restaurants and just a short walk to The beautiful Piedmont Park. To top it off it’s in a pretty cool old building they have tastefully redone inside. My only annoyance, which is primarily driven by the fact COVID still lurking, their breakfast options aren’t the greatest, I had to go out every day for something. Other than that I really love this property and the amazing staff!
What a nice experience! Midtown is a great place to stay in Atlanta - quiet and safe for a walk with your dogs. Awesome seafood restaurant across the street that does carry-out, pleasant and clean hotel. It was particularly nice to be able to walk a few blocks to the Federal Reserve Bank, which has a park, dog area, and lots of people out for a stroll on a lovely night.Id stay again - especially because staff members are real Marriott - friendly and helpful!
I enjoyed this hotel. The staff was wonderful, the parking was convenient, and the room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. There was a small bar right under my balcony, it seemed pretty lively the whole weekend which made for great Peachtree street entertainment. I probably wouldnt stay anywhere else in Atlanta after my stay here, definitely will be my regular hotel when visiting family.
The building needs some upgrading, as it is a little outdated. The bathroom walls and ceiling had stains, and the floors and baseboards definitely need refinishing. The appliances in the kitchen area need cleaning as well. The bed was perfectly fine, and it was nice to have a refrigerator and kitchen area in general. Overall, average and fair for the price.
For being such an old building, it is well maintained. It was lacking amenities due to COVID, such as the breakfast buffet which is normally included. They did have a “grab and go” breakfast, but nothing substantial. The balconies are great being that they are few and far between in ATL, and it was nice to be able to step out and get some fresh air. It’s not the most updated hotel, but the friendly staff and location made up for that. It did have a full kitchen which would be great for anyone staying longer than a weekend. Overall, I would recommend.
While the exterior of the building and the location are great, the interior could use some upgrades. I noticed in my shower that there was mold around the window and on the ceiling. Other than that, the room was nice. The worst part about this experience was the person who was working the valet on Saturday morning. I noticed he was completely passed out in the lobby on a chair, and the area was blocked off to visitors so I could not ask him to retrieve my car. There was only one person working the front desk, and he was helping another guest out. Eventually the manager noticed the valet was passed out and tried to wake him up. The manager yelled the guys name over and over again, and this man would not wake up. The manager kept having to get closer to the valet and repeating his name, but nothing seemed to work. I honestly thought the man might be dead. After shaking and yelling his name, the valet finally woke up with a start. The valet didnt seem to know where he was or what he was doing there. The manager ended up having to get the key and hand it to the valet. At this point, there was no way I wanted this man to drive my car. It was very obvious he was extremely intoxicated or nearly overdosed on some type of drug. He eventually took my key and asked what kind of car I had. I told him a Rav4, and he asked why did you park it with us? He then told me he didnt know where the car was, and he had never been in this building before and wouldnt know how to find the car. I finally coerced him to give me the key, and I would find it. I truly hope this man does not work as a valet anymore because I would not trust him to drive any vehicle. I ended up finding street and public parking the rest of my stay to avoid having to interact with him.
Don’t do it. My friends and I did NOT enjoy our stay here at all. They made plenty of unauthorized charges on our cards. Hotel is not updated at all. Definitely needs some renovations. Most of the staff were extremely nice, but the others were not friendly. Eric was extremely helpful!
The checkin process was smooth. The staff was very friendly and accommodated two guests that arrived at different times to the same room. The room was reasonably spacious and had a balcony. The kitchenette was nice with burner, chimney, fridge, microwave, sink, plates, spoons, utensils, etc. The bathroom was ok.The location is fantastic as it is very close the MARTA and Georgia Tech university. In terms of maintenance, following things required attention:1. Room door would not close properly. It required extra push while opening and closing2. Toilet door also had opening and closing issues as above3. Shelf below the bathroom wash basin was broken4. There was leak somewhere in the bathroom resulting in dry area being wetOverall, decent experience for the price paid.
The staff here is excellent! We have been here for a week while we wait for our new condo to be ready. We will be here for one more week. Throughout our time here, with our 2 dogs, the staff has been so accommodating and kind, assisting with our deliveries that are arriving for our new home and so helpful with our many requests. Our one bedroom suite with patio is comfortable, clean and has everything we need for our stay. As our family visits, we will definitely be setting them up in this hotel which is close by and offers them privacy and the ability to bring their own pets as well.
I recommend this hotel to absolutely everyone who visits midtown Georgia. Me and my boyfriend stayed For five days and four nights And it was amazing. We had a small bump in the road when we got there but It was taken care of in seconds. The front desk attendant was so nice and sweet and made sure that we were comfortable. He really accommodated us. On top of that I had previously spoken with Paul Beaulieu before even getting on the plane and he assured me that everything would be OK. He was very honest about the location and everything and when he found out we had some issues when we arrived on top of everything the first attendant did he went above and beyond to make sure we were great. He recommended places for us to visit and places for us to eat. He accommodated us in reference to our room. He made sure that we felt at home and safe and I recommend this place to everyone
Stayed two nights during week. Selected for proximity to GT. Location great. Property is dated on outside and on a bit of a rough corner. Not up to Marriott standards. COVID protocols make inside experience terrible. No coffee, desk blocked with bar stools, staff half wearing masks - housekeeping no masks. It is all for show - do away with it and create a great experience so people will get out and travel again.
Well, as you already know we had an incident with our car the first hour there. The manager was very nice and looked at the security camera and said she saw nothing to indicate it was damaged in the hotel lot. We do know that it did happen there as it was inspected only an hour earlier by me and the Enterprise employee with a written receipt indicating not a mark on the car. We drove directly from the Enterprise lot to the hotel and did not even come close to another vehicle, sign, etc. Sooo. While I understand the reasoning behind the discontinuance of the buffet breakfast during COVID, I do not feel that I am receiving the full value for the nightly charge. Just saying. And my email confirmation indicated that the parking fee would be $25 per day and a piece of paper taped to a table at the front desk indicated the parking fee is $29 per day. When I pointed this out to the desk clerk, my account was charged only the $25 fee.Lastly, if masks are required as posted on your entry door, why are some employees allowed to wear them under their chin. Upon our arrival and the next morning a male who is a parking valet hung around the lobby with his mask under his chin. As I was checking out, a guest was in the lobby (female with her family who did have masks on) and she did not wear a mask. Again you asked.
I stayed here for work & was so pleased! The location is walking distance to shops & restaurants & sights. The staff was amazing, very friendly & always making sure you have any needs met. The room was comfortable & the on site self serve laundry was wonderful to have. Thanks for a great stay!
The location is good, the amenities are standard, the rooms are average for Residence Inns but clean and comfortable, but what really sets this property apart is the staff. They were all fantastic during my entire stay. This is my first time to Atlanta, during a pandemic, and for three weeks. Every staff member with whom I interacted made me feel very welcome—like I was at home among friends. I came here on business and my industry is a little unpredictable, but if ever sent back to Atlanta on assignment I would hands-down stay here again. Thanks for everything and keep up the great service!
My room had paint peeling from the ceiling and wallpaper peeling in the bathroom. There was a dog across the hall that was barking every time a door opened. No recognition of Bonvoy status and no gift. Charges I did not make at the food store we’re added to my bill for purchases I did not make. Find somewhere else to stay and you will be happy you did.
Cant say enough good things about the staff. They were all always friendly, helpful and very professional! Serin, Bakari, Eric, Solo and Steve were the only employees I interacted with on a regular basis, and they were all excellent! Serin and Bakari in particular helped me out a lot. I had a couple of small issues with my original room and parking, but they were able to resolve the issues very quickly for me! The location is excellent, the rooms are pretty comfortable and spacious, and if you are lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, and the weather is nice, you will really enjoy it!Over all, I would recommend this location to anyone, and would stay there again myself!
The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the room is clean! Couldnt ask for better service or a better breakfast!! Gotta try the eggs! Some of the best that Ive ever had at a hotel! And the milk is second to none the kitchen appliances were top notch and much more that I expected!! Made cooking at night easy and quick!!
1st of all let me just say that I was very nervous about staying here but Paul Beaulieu made me feel comfortable before I even got on the plane to come to Atlanta. He is nothing short of amazing. When I got to the hotel, there were issues but the front desk clerk was awesome! He immediately apologized and did not stop until we were comfortable. Because if my inconveniences, Paul accommodate us and even recommended great places to hang out! The location is wonderful and the staff is AMAZING AND HONEST! I’d rather be here then anywhere else because they really make you feel like home! I’m still here checking out on Wednesday!! I’m happy! Ps! Met Charles Barkley at the pub connected to the hotel! He was very nice!
At check in large trash cans were full sitting in the lobby. Sitting area was blocked off in the lobby, reducing the social distancing area at least 50% Didn’t complain to the hotel about the absurdly loud AC, as the others on my Business trip had the same issues so it wouldn’t have done any good moving to a different room. As for the room it was dated and in dire need of an update or refresh. There are many choices in the Midtown area and I will be choosing a different place next time.
The night auditor Linda was extremely rude to me . I stayed on 7/31 and told her that the HOT WATER in my room was NOT WORKING. I called down and requested a new room , she stated that she had a smaller room available, I said if a smaller room then my rate should be decreased. She rudely asked me did I want to check out the hotel at 1 AM, she offered no type of refund which I requested partially not in full . Linda was very unprofessional and don’t ever recommend staying here . I am a long time Marriot rewards member and this is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with Marriot. It took over 20 mins from Linda to give me her rude reply after me politely asking for a partial refund . There is no way you pay $388 and DONT HAVE HOT WATER. The night auditor Linda from the front desk is very unprofessional, she will advise you to check out instead of rectifying the situation. If I could rate ZERO STARS on customer service I would
This hotel was a great choice. I usually stay downtown Atlanta, but his ended up being closer (and I mean walking distance) to a lot of the things I love to visit when I come to the A. The check in staff was knowledgeable. The coffee available was fresh and hot—very nice after drinking all of the terrible gas station coffee on the way. The hotel had a clean scent which set the tone for the rest of my stay. Everything was clean, for that matter! I loved the little kitchenette. Comfy bed, clean bathroom, all very nice. I will stay here again because it was affordable, had free wifi and breakfast. A package that is hard to find!!
The hotel is clean, the rooms are large and staff very polite. Good location with easy access to interstate and walking distance to numerous restaurants. Will have some street noise but you are in midtown. Complimentary breakfast is a nice addition. Would definitely stay again.
I stayed here for 12 weeks while working on a film. My room was awesome with a little balcony to let fresh air in when it was warm outside. The staff was awesome / especially Mona and Eric. Also, I get off late from work and they provided a parking space that was close to front door - they also have a VERY well-lit parking area. The area is safe with restaurants across the street and you can walk around. The hotel is cozy. The only thing I wish I had is more vegetarian options at breakfast. Maybe vegetarian sausage in the morning. Otherwise - it is perfect. Especially for a long stay.
Overall the hotel is good for someone who is looking for a stopover and wants just a bed to a sleepover without expecting a lot in terms of amenities and service. The breakfast was much lower than the average for an upscale property. The housekeeping and proactiveness of the front office staff have a lot to be desired. The only advantage with the property is it is in a strategic location where you are close to doing your chores without any hassles. The hotel is not all good for a long business trip
The top great part of my stay were the wonderful ladies who made our breakfasts every morning, especially Christmas morning. I really appreciated the homemade oatmeal, eggs, meats and prep of fruits, cheeses, yogurts, waffle mix, cereals, etc. that were made and laid out for us guests. What a great boost to start off our days! The front desk clerks were also very helpful in answering questions. I loved how I had a little balcony outside my room that had a full sized fridge as well as microwave. And I appreciated the hot coffee and teas available all day long in the lobby. The only little drawback was that there were no convenient free parking except for the streets right on Christmas Day where they did not charge any fees on a holiday (to clarify, I had no vehicle but my friend visited during Christmas Day when most places were closed.) I also appreciated the short distance from the MARTA station.
Management/staff were friendly and offered advice on local attractions. The rooms are clean and have modern finishes; beautiful views from the room of plush green trees. This is the perfect location and is walking distance to several restaurants, bars/clubs, grocery/convenience stores, train station, and is in the heart of Midtown. I will definitely stay here again! Thanks for a wonderful experience.
You have the most amazing employee by the name of Mona at the front desk. I worked on my laptop down stairs for 2 days and she was so accommodating to everyone that came in through the doors. I watched her for hours and her disposition never changed. Being on your feet all day is not easy to do and she kept that smile both days I was there. She gave people directions, offered coffee, just a true gem! My room was immaculately cleaned. I love the extra towels. I walked with socks on and the room was clean. The bathroom was perfect and so was the kitchen area! The Wi-Fi was fast and I was able to work uninterrupted both days. I had a small issue on my day of departure with an employee in the food service area but I will not let this small incident foreshadow all the other things that were perfect during my stay.
My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn Midtown - Georgia Tech for a little under a month. We were impressed by the size of our room and the helpfulness of the hotel manager. The gym is fantastic and the hotel location cant be beat. Plenty of restaurants and a Whole Foods within walking distance. The breakfast could have been better, but it a pretty typical continental breakfast. Otherwise we were very happy and would definitely stay again.
Its pricey, but they make sure to really go the extra mile due to that. They have the most amazing breakfast of any hotel Ive ever stayed at - talk about SELECTION (my eyes may have been bigger than my stomach, lol)! The rooms are cozy and feature kitchenettes with a full sized fridge and silverware. The room also featured a balcony, which allowed for a nice breeze. If this hotel is in the price range and area youre looking for, I would say theres no reason not to go ahead and book!

2022-04-24When I pulled up the valet did not even come to get my keys or open the door. he just sat there on his phone until i unloaded my car and came to him. I mentioned this to the front desk person who did not apologize or try to rectify the issue. Later that day I came back late at night and the room was so hot, clearly the AC was not working. I tried to call the front desk no one answered. I tried to sleep but woke up because the room was 80 degrees. I called the front desk who said they would send someone. I am still waiting. This was an awful experience and I would never recommend anyone stay here again. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

2022-03-11Room was clean, staff were friendly, breakfast adequate, pretty good price for Midtown. Great location near lots of restaurants and very close to Piedmont Park which was awesome, except for one thing: the Steamhouse lounge next door on 11th street is really loud and stays open very late (2:30am) -- very loud drunk people (the more you drink, the louder you talk -- even when someone is 3 feet from your friggin face), so if youre a light sleeper, dont get a room facing 11th.

2022-05-29This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The carpet was filthy with stains and debris and so was the pullout bed. The room smelled like body odor and cigarettes even though they say they are a smoke free hotel. The sink and tub had water in them and would not drain. Everything was dirty and smelly. When I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk, she claimed she would give me a 25% discount, but that discount was not provided.

2021-11-03I stayed here for work and was planning on staying four nights. I’ll start by saying the front desk was helpful and tried to accommodate me to the best of their ability. The gym was good and all machines worked. My first room was very noisy and had a used bar of soap in the shower. I was able to switch night two and the noise was a bit better (facing courtyard and not the street). The shower had mold around the window and the water pooled in the tub after a minute. The staff again were accommodating to my early departure.

2021-09-26We always enjoy our weekend stay at this hotel. The staff is always friendly and check-in is fast. Its really convenient for anyone staying in and around the Midtown area. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are spacious and very clean. We love having a small kitchenette with a large refrigerator. They serve a small buffet breakfast that is very adequate.

2021-11-25The location is really good, close to a lot of nice restaurants. The hotel itself is decent, the room I had was pretty large, it had a full kitchen and a fairly big bathroom. The main reason why Im not giving it a higher rating is because there was an AC vent facing the bed that was SO loud that it woke me up every time it came on. It also was aimed right at the bed, so you got a huge wind of air right in your face whenever it popped on (I tried to angle it upwards but it didnt help). The second issue was that there was a strong odor of mold in the shower, and you could see a lot of black growth along the bottom of the shower. Not very inviting. The breakfast was... ok, not a huge selection of items, they had orange juice in little plastic cups things that were room temperature. No cereal options, and just very little overall. But for the overall price it was liveable. The staff was very friendly, so that was nice.

2021-10-19One suggestion is the breakfast set up in the morning. Staff is great and does this every day with care and attention. but the breakfast itself is...eh. Sausage patties and preformed eggs everyday. nothing less, nothing more, nothing different. the other offerings are fine, grab and go granola bars, fruit, yogurt, juice, and the coffee station is ready and waiting. but for the hot offerings, maybe forego it altogether, or see if it can be changed up in a way that still makes $$$ sense. also, if a bread offering was available e.g. just croissants (not wrapped pastries), that would be a big improvement. to repeat though, the staff setting this up every morning is fantastic!

2021-10-28The room was very clean! I used my own Clorox wipes, and they picked up no dust or grime. Also, the staff was friendly & very helpful! The only knock is the furniture needs an upgrade, the elevator is small, and there is outside construction that starts pretty early.

2022-03-01The manager is VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL AND she lied about her name unprofessional as well! With a nasty attitude! What manger wear jeans to work? She wasnt even dressed professional! SMH please dont waste your time and money even going to this place! The worst customer service I ever received anywhere! I wish I could have given this place negative 5 stars!
