Just a heads up, right now they are not putting avocado in any dishes. Only appetizer guacs. The prices are a bit high. $10 for a plate of leafy greens (no avocado). I had the tostones and the manager kindly accommodated to my requests and put guac on them; however, without guac it just wouldn’t be worth $9. My advice to the restaurant is to change the menu details- take off avocado temporarily until they become available. That way customers won’t think they are paying the same price while missing a component. Or temporarily offer a substitute that adds richness like eggs, a nice cheese, pistachios, or yogurt- based sauces.
Went with family for dinner. Parking was ample. Portions were generous. And the price doesnt break your wallet. Edgar, our server, was attentive and on point with a party of 7. Happy with the food, service, and Margaritas 🍹! Will visit again when back in town. Check em out if you can...
We really enjoyed dinner here after a long day. The service was great, the food was even better. We will be returning. Only thing is it was on the pricey side, so it wont be a frequent thing. Kids taco shell was thick, had to cut it up. Queso was watery but tasted good. Portions were good, everyone ate everything! (Thats difficult with 2 little ones)
The servers are friendly, the establishment is clean & the food is excellent! I ordered a burrito bowl & was pleasantly surprised at the amount of mushrooms & avocado given - very generous amounts, especially when compared to other local mexican restaurants (La Parilla, that means you). Free chips & salsa taste amazing as well. Highly recommend!
Solid choice for Mexican food and margaritas. Our 1st time there and it didnt disappoint. Met a friend and his family there as it is their favorite in the area. Well now it is our favorite. Clean, fresh and friendly. Menu is solid and margaritas are delicious. Not your typical Americanized Mexican food. Worth the drive and extra $.
We met up for lunch at Rojo Cocina last week after running errands and we were very happy with the excellent selection of food on offer. Perfect thin crispy chips and salsa arrived promptly and we ordered our lunches. Everyone loved their food. I almost finished my meal but couldnt eat another bite. Service was amazingly good and we will definitely be back to sample the prickly pear cactus drinks we saw on the menu.
Best steak Tacos El Carbon around. I always ask for medium rare and theyre perfect. Only downside is the price of their dip. A large dip, which isnt that big is $10. Add $2 more if you want ground beef, chicken or chorizo in it. That said, its very good. Especially the chorizo dip.
This is our first time at this local Mexican Restaurant and the food and the service were both outstanding. Even the lovely owner came to our table to greet us and to make sure everything was great. Make sure to try the carnitas tacos. Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the tables were set up to serve every other table which was very much appreciated due to the pandemic. This did not take away from the ambiance. The restaurant had a great vibe. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unexpectedly Excellent!! We were just looking for a place that was open and had indoor seating for lunch. We had just passed our 3rd choice and saw the OPEN sign with indoor seating. VERY nice decor, quiet, not busy. The salsa was perfect, not too spicy but great flavor. The chips were very thin, hot, and crisp. Enchilatas were the best Ive ever had. To tell the truth, I wasnt even hungry going in. Late breakfast and an early lunch with my boss who was hungry. He doesnt even like Mex, have never seen him eat it before, but he was actually licking the salsa bowl. I cleaned my plate, too, but ...there is such a thing as manners.
We’ve attempted to eat here three times and the service is terrible. The first time, we sat at the bar and it took 10 minutes for someone to ask what we wanted to drink. The second and third times, we’ve waited at the front for 5 minutes, watching at least 6 servers pass by without acknowledging us. When the hostess finally shows up, we’re told there will be a 10 minute wait, despite at least 4 tables being empty around the dining room. Don’t waste your time, check out Hola Taqueria or Dos Margaritas, both only a few minutes away.
Service was incredibly slow. No server came to the table for at least 15 minutes then when he finally did come to the table it took another 15 minutes to get drinks. Got the drinks (waters) one minute before the food came out. When we asked about bar drinks he blamed the owner/ manager for not being able to make them because he was chatting it up with another table. Never got a refill on chips. And always pay attention to your bill, they overcharged me this time and I had to get it fixed. A previous time I was charged for a credit card tip when I left cash. That took weeks to sort out! Luckily the food is good so I gave them another chance yesterday, but now I definitely will not be going back.
A great place for a meal. Delicious and freshly prepared chips and entrees. Also the margaritas are well prepared. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is very confortable and inviting. I have been here several times and Ive never been disappointed.
Great food and atmosphere! Had a great time until our server returned after dinner to (very arrogantly) ask if there was anything wrong with his service. He was adequate, and our tip matched. Our table was well over %15 - as a person who has been in the service industry, I would never have done what he did. Very disappointing and the reason we will not be returning.
Skinny margarita, insane. One of the best fish tacos I’ve had OTP. As another reviewer said, this place is a true neighborhood gem. Once I found Rojo, it became the ONLY Mexican restuarant I went to. My chief complaint is the service can sometimes be hit or miss (slow).
Stopped in because I previously went to pick up a gift certificate for a friend. Saw the margaritas and they were everything you wanted to see in a giant margarita. I had to go back and get one.I think they were on sale the night I went which was the Friday before V-day. I cant say how much they are regularly but even if they were twice the price I paid, it would have been worth it.I had some queso and of course the chips that just come with everything. It was great. The bartenders were great (sat at the bar). I am for sure going back for more than just margaritas next time.
On the plus side the workers were very friendly. Unfortunately, getting their attention to get help was virtually impossible. Took about 20 minutes after ordering to get a lunch special of tacos that most places would have ready in 1-2 minutes. The ground beef had no flavor whatsoever. About half the chips tasted overcooked. Rice and cheese dip were good. Wanted to like it, but doubt Id go back.
Had come before and enjoyed it didn’t blow me away but decent family atmosphere but just got home from a very disappointing dinner. Service was incredibly slow but thought she was likely new so gave the benefit of the doubt. Food was mediocre and came out spaced out and then after waiting an excessive amount of time to finally get all three meals, had to ask for every little thing that should be obvious (kids are splitting this pick 3 adult dinner so need more plates , waters & salsa were empty for 20 minutes may we have more, none of the empty/used items were cleared at the seldom visits...). Suddenly when we were finishing dinner and I needed to take the kids to the bathroom there was a a team of staff to clear my food and unfinished drink while I’d stepped away. Where was all the help while we were purchasing?
This place is awesome! Went here for lunch last weekend, great service amazing burritos and the best margarita Ive had in a while. The staff was very attentive and friendly, would definitely come back with friends to watch more games and take advantage of their pitcher specials.
We sat for 10 minutes without anyone approaching our table. I requested a waitress. I ordered a chicken burrito that the menu claimed to have Guacamole. It had no Guacamole. Instead their was a tiny sliver of avocado on top. We were charged $6 extra for guac and sour cream on 2 tacos. The food was merely adequate.Later that night I regretted my food choice. I was up til 2am with stomach discomfort. Coincidence or causation?I will not go back to Rojo. Its not worth it.
The food here is always delicious and they have great lunch & dinner specials. Im always showing friends this place and they thank me afterwards. My personal favorite is the burrito al carbon. They actually have incredibly good hot wings too. Cant say enough good things about this place and Leo & Maria are always great host. Will be back again soon!
We dined on a weekday night, and the service was terrible. We had to get up from the table several times and find the waiter just to get drinks, salsa, etc. Even when there were only a few people remaining in the restaurant, it still took half an hour to get our food. The food was pretty good at least, but we probably wont be returning due to poor service.
Arrived to find no hostess to seat us. Waited 15 mins then asked someone if we could be seated and served. They were understaffed and dirty. There were empty tables with piles of dirty dishes just sitting there waiting to be cleaned off. Had to wait for someone to clean off a table to be seated. Then had to wait 15 for drinks and another 20 for chips. And even longer for our order. Food was good but service sucked and took too long.
Yes, the service is hit-or-miss. I cant remember how many times that weve been, but Im thinking three times...maybe four. Only once was the service exemplary. One time (the first visit, shortly after they opened), it was a train wreck. But I suspect that it will improve with time. Our last visit was just fine.An expansive menu. Stuff that Ive not seen elsewhere. Stuff that Id probably never order, but Id try, if I was offered a taste. If you go with a combo plate, youll conclude that this place is mediocre pseudo-Mexican. Ive done that and that food is mediocre and typical. I mean, a ground beef burrito is either okay or it isnt...theres scant middle ground for complaints.Instead, try something different. The fish tacos are kick ass. The steak nachos are a hit. Whatever you do, dont leave without getting a side of charro beans. Good for your heart, from what Ive heard for 40+ years. Srsly, they are amazing. My lady offered me a taste from her (small side) bowl, and I damned near commandeered the remainder. Get some and try them. The margaritas are tasty. But, again, we have a binary path here. Dont expect unicorns to pop out of the walls and dance for you if you order one. Order a dozen, drink them, and maybe the time-space continuum will hack up something like that.A solid four stars, even with the imprecise and unpredictable quality of service. Oh, ask for some hot salsa...they dont automagically bring it out, but they have some that is pretty snappy. Go forth and nosh...
Our go to place for a quality Mexican dish in Roswell. No plates of rice, beans and unidentifiable lumps slathered with cheese here, the food is fresh, tasty and spliced just right. I would call this upscale Mexican food at a reasonable price. We have dined at Rojo several times in the last year, never a bad experience with staff or food. My favorite is the carnitas.
One star is too many. We went to Rojo at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Were huge foodies and couldnt wait to try it.WAIT was the key word. There were 2 customers at the bar, and one table on the other side of the restaurant. We sat down and waited, and waited. The Bartender was waiting on the table. Nobody greeted us, ever. We waited 10 minutes and left. Wont return. If this is the way a new business treats its customers, remember tat there are hundreds of places to eat in the same area. No reason to eat at Rojo.
For one, the service is sooo slow and on top of that we were sat next to a live roach on its back moving. We told the Manager lady and she said it happens b/c its summer time. She LEFT it there!!!!!!! We should have known at that point to RUN! How can it get worse? Well i ate about 3/4 of my salad to then find what looked like a wing/body part of a roach with a leg attached. I told the server which told the manager and 5 minutes later comes the manager with a piece of onion that looked nothing like what i had showed her and told me it was raw onion. Needless to say... i will NOT be coming back nor will i allow any of my family/co-workers.
I have a group of ladies we meet once a month for lunch and go to a different restaurant each month, I was very disappointed when I got my bill two very tiny bowls of cheese sauce 10.00 dollars I got fish tocos which were ok but she asked me if I wanted black beans and rice or re fried beans and rice making me believe that came with it but everything was al a carte, also charged me for the sour cream which was two spoonfuls there pricing is very unfair and we will not be going back there again, be fair and your customers will come back.

2022-04-20This place is consistently great, they bring you delicious chips right away. The food is so great, I usually get enchiladas verdes but I finally tried something different, the Salmon bowl and it didnt disappoint. My Husband is an executive chef and appreciates the consistently good food, its one of his favorite places to eat in Roswell. The place is quite lively and its central to Roswell so super convenient.

2022-03-08My sister and I were recommended this place because of their margaritas and they did not disappoint. We also got the Rojo fajitas for 2 and it was absolutely delicious. We ate until we were content and still had leftovers to take home. The perfect after church spot for me!

2019-02-20Rojo has been my family’s go-to Mexican restaurant since they opened, and for good reason! From the super thin tortilla chips and delicious, sometimes sneaky spicy salsa to the great entrees, there are great options for all, including vegetarians.Last night I tried the tostones from the apps menu and found a new favorite dish!

2021-12-07There have been occasions where the quality of the food is excellent and the order is done properly, and Rojo has the potential to be 5 stars. Sadly, on too many of my to-go orders something is wrong or I get home and food is missing. The restaurant needs the ability to order food online, because often times when calling to place a to-go order the phone just rings without anyone answering. Understandably the staff is very busy, but leverage technology to overcome this issue. When dining inside the restaurant, the service is excellent and food quality is consistently very good.
