We were hungry but had no idea where we wanted to eat. We were wandering down Canton Street and just happened upon this place. Its a small, unassuming spot but it was so GOOD! We had The Dip and my date had the Big Chicken Sandwich. Jonathan was fantastic and the food came out piping hot and fast. The Dip was creamy, gooey, melty and delicious with freshly fried and baked pitas. The Big Chicken Sandwich was one of the best sandwiches Ive had in a long time. The chicken was crunchy and flavorful and with the crispy bacon and other accoutrements, it was scrumptious! Plus, house made ranch is always a bonus. We definitely will return!
This was one of my favorite spots until recently. I really enjoyed the gumbo until I started getting shorted on my shrimp and my drink had more ice than liquid. The services was average at best and I really didn’t feel welcomed. With that being said, I will just take my business elsewhere.
Cute little downtown!! The restaurant was good. We sat at a booth in the front window. I had the oyster and chicken tortilla soup. The steak and shrimp screwers were really good!! The food was good and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I would eat here again!
Definitely do not order takeout here. They completely disregarded the special instructions (a person with a dairy allergy). They also do not alert you when the order is ready. I was given a 75 minute window to guess and show up. Of course the food was ice cold because it was sitting for who knows how long. Emailed management and have been ignored.
Loved the atmosphere of downtown Roswell but with my unbalanced table for 2 outside, the tone was set for an underwhelming experience. Service was polite albeit slow. We started with the lobster queso dip.. Meh. Frozen lobster tossed as a garnish atop an average tasting queso dip with fresh, crispy chips was nothing I would crave or write home about... The two entrees we ordered were nothing special... I had the shrimp Poboy. 6 breaded bland shrimp on a fresh bread roll that tasted of butter AND oil.. A modest spread of some bland sauce, and lettuce, tomato and some pickles. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries but ended sending my plate back. I didnt want to waste my calories on a bland meal. My sister had a jambalaya. She took her leftovers home and jazzed it up with hot sauce and salt. But she was underwhelmed too. We enjoyed 2 drinks each and the beautiful summer outdoor patio area but wont be back to dine. It looked pretty but Ive had frozen meals that titillated my taste buds better than the 3 items at Roux. Subpar!
Mid week visit during the holiday season. The service was friendly and prompt. Full menu of food and the homemade nachos were brilliant! Chill atmosphere and full of businessmen day drinkers gettin down! Super variety of draft selections that must rotate regularly and full bar of the hard stuff. I was particularly impressed with the suds selection, good variety and some real serious beers. Thanks for having us!
Love this place! Now. It is a bit cramped inside but the wait is worth it! Casual place with great drink specials. We were there with another couple and we ordered a bunch of apps and a couple meals! We enjoyed everything!!! Everything we ordered was well seasoned and delicious. We had gumbo, mussels, fried okra which was one of the best I have had and came with a great dipping sauce. Then we had a flatbread chorizo pizza! For meals we shared an order of shrimp & grits which was awesome and an order of meatloaf. I am usually hesitant to order meatloaf out, but soooo glad we did. It isn’t your mom’s meatloaf! This was bathed in a delicious gravy and was not the least bit dry! We sampled a few drinks but the winner was defiantly the special Mr. Jingles!! Lost track after the 3rd one!! Great place for a date, families and a casual night out!
Great place in downtown Roswell. Staff is nice and friendly. Food is awesome. Had the lobster risotto; really good. Prices are very good (good value) given the center of market location. Fried shrimp is a good sized serving and good.Drinks are wonderful. Had the Manhattan and it was perfect !We were the last ones there and the staff did not try to push us out the door or nudge us to leave. That tells you about the ethics of the folks there.
I would normally give a 5 star review because I’ve been going to Roux for years. However tonight, on a Sunday night, I showed up and had 2 drinks. I went to order a 3rd and I was denied, along with my father and my friend, more drinks because “she felt she served me enough”. Prior to that, my dad and his many friends were very pleasant and kind and tipped this bartender very well. She said she felt we had drank enough and wouldn’t serve me, my friend or my dad another drink. No where on Canton Street was open because of the weather so Roux was the only place that was going to make money because of the closures. I was very disappointed by this encounter. Me and my friend were the same age as this bartender and she was the only one there so we made sure to go out of our way to compliment her and make her feel comfortable. This was ridiculous and so rude based on how nice we were to her. I probably won’t come back here for a while because of how ridiculous this encounter was. If it was a normal night (not a snow night) I would have asked for the manager.
Friendly staff. They make it most worth returning for. Small location so maybe make a reservation. Food is good but a bit pricey. I know first hand that cost of goods has skyrocketed for restaurants so I cant blame them really. Id recommend the dip. Drinks are certainly overpriced but I did have a sip of a drink that had coconut milk and matcha and possibly gin (cant remember the name) and it was very good.
This place was great!! Their food was fantastic, pictured is the Gouda burger. They were also very patient and accommodating with our elderly guest who was there celebrating his birthday. He was in a wheelchair and they did all they could to make his stay pleasant. Would definitely go again
Great food and drinks. They have a large assortment of craft beer and cocktails. Dinner for 2 (appetizer and entrees without drinks) was around $40. We got a few cocktails and a couple of beers. The waitstaff was friendly and came by frequently to check on us. The only downside was the space is small and it gets loud when full. We went early to avoid having to wait but there was a line when we left. We will definitely go again.
Food was not disappointing but menu was a little limited. I was hoping for more southern food selection. I devoured the fried pickles and okra. Ive had better lobster roll. The jambalaya flavor was rich and satisfying but I prefer it to be slightly more on the hotter side. Paid over $100 for 2 small apps and 3 main dishes so a tad pricey for lunch, but its on popular Canton St. so I suppose you pay a premium.
We tried just about everything on the menu (pimento cheese fritters, deviled eggs, oysters, sweet potato fries, grits, buffalo tacos, okra, hush puppies, lobster roll… I may be forgetting something) and everything was delicious! Cocktails were great. Service was great. Prices are very reasonable for the area as well.
My husband and I enjoyed good taste of our foods. Our son was not excited about his bbq sandwich, he told us it was too sweet taste. My veggie burger, sweet potatoes fries and side salad was delicious and Im glad for thos vegetarian option in you menu. My husband like his chicken sandwich with extra bacan and cheese and French fries. We will come for sure back. Son will try something different from menu with lots of options.Thanks.
I had the lobster roll. It was different but not bad. It had the lobster meat mixed up in mayo and dill like some kind of lobster salad in a king Hawaiian sub roll with some salad in the bottom of the roll. Like I said different but not bad. They have several beers on tap always a plus. The wait staff seemed very nice. I was there for lunch time not to busy.
Food is great! Their servers arent the best. Every time we go someones order is wrong. Last time everyone was served but one person. They blamed it on something being down, then asked what they had ordered 30 minutes after taking our initial order. My sisters meal finally came out 10 minutes after we all finished ours.
Visited on a busy Saturday with no reservation, but were able to grab two seats at the bar right away. Bartender was friendly and attentive and we got drinks quickly. Had The Dip as a starter, which is an artichoke dip that was delicious! Love that they give you warm pita wedges and also fried chips and both were plentiful. My other half had a burger, I had the cajun chicken pasta. Both were served in a timely manner and cooked well. The biggest complaint of the night was that the pasta was just meh. Lacked much seasoning, especially for being called cajun, and was just generally a bit bland. Like just pasta in a cream sauce. Overall, a good visit, a couple tweeks would make it 5 stars. Definitely would go back.
They were out of oysters, out of frozen drinks, but that was because we went late on a Sunday after their happy hour. Knowing that, our server was excellent despite those shortcomings. The food is great, (lobster roll and especially the hush puppies- some of the best anywhere). The fried tomatoes are nothing to complain about and the pretzel is a crowd pleaser. The shrimp and grits are a good dinner, but need a rework to be award winning. The drinks are very good, you will leave happy. But they have a little further to go- same situation as shrimp and grits. Great food, but needs a little further to be super fancy Michelin et cetera yada yada. Thanks for a great meal! Our server did crush it as well so 5 stars
I stoped into Roux on Canton at lunchtime knowing Ive never been there and Im pleased to share that I was fortunate to enjoy an outdoor table in beautiful weather. My server Mariel was quick to bring me a menu and even quicker to bring my beverage. In keeping with the fall atmosphere I ordered the grilled skirt steak with brussell sprouts, brocolli and sweet potatoes. Let me tell you that the medium cook on my steak was perfect and the vegetables a meal in thier own. Thank you for being a part of my peacefull Monday. I look forward to my next visit to Roux on Canton.
3 stars only because the Mr. Jingles cocktails are so good. Good atmosphere and fine service but the food was a let down. I expected much more from a restaurant on Canton Street. We had 3 appetizers and 2 entrees and were extremely underwhelmed by each of them. Next time Ill be sure to stop by for a Mr.Jingles cocktail while I wait for a table somewhere else. Also glad to see they werent too hung up on the whole mask thing. Props for that!
The beignets were dry. A similar dessert (Lokoumades) in a restaurant down the street called Vas Kouzina was much, much better. In general, the entrees (jambalaya and lobster sandwich) were a little underwhelming. Nothing was wrong, but I’ve had better, fresher food. The dip was really creamy and savory, though! I would come back here just to get the dip! Otherwise, this is not worth a $70 dinner (2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and dessert).
Being on the busy strip of Canton Street, this is a popular dining destination. I think for the most part the food is well prepared, and you know what youre getting when you order. The menu has remained consistent and the food has remained consistent even in COVID times, which I definitely cant say for other restaurants on the strip. Definitely worth a stop for lunch, and if youre looking for a fun informal dinner setting, this is also a great spot.
While the service itself was fantastic, the food and drinks left much to be desired. This was not New Orleans style cuisine. It was not even close. In addition, the Mac n’ cheese and no flavor and the beignets (not great on consumption ) had a terrible after taste. The old fashioned tasted nothing like an old fashioned. We were very disappointed after reading the reviews and making an effort to get in here where there is normally a wait...
This used to be one of my very favorite restaurants. Their food is really great. But I cant go to this restaurant anymore because they make zero efforts to comply with CDC guidelines in a post-covid world. We havent been out much during the pandemic, but the few restaurants we have been to, weve seen steps taken to ensure health of staff and customers. NOT TRUE AT ROUX. NONE of the staff were wearing masks. I literally saw a server carrying plates of food while wearing no mask. When we sat down, a server came right up to our table, leaned in to us, and talked right in our face, all while wearing no mask. Who knows if kitchen staff are even wearing masks while preparing your food. This was months ago, before vaccines were even an option. Im really upset because Id love to eat at Roux, but not until they take the health of their staff and customers seriously.
I did not know much about this restaurant before walking in. The food was all good. Ordered grilled oysters with parmesan and bacon on them for an appetizer and a Cuban sandwich for my entree. Both were delicious! The space is a little tight but adds to the atmosphere. The only other thing that I thought could be better was the beer selection. Overall, it was great, and Ill be back to try more off the menu.
My husband called in a large order today of a bit of everything from the menu- shrimp and grits, shrimp po boy, fish tacos, bignets ... everything was GOOD. Outstanding. Im eating the shrimp and grits right now and wish I could go back for more. You wont go wrong ordering from here 😋
Shrimp & grits were fire - make sure you dab a lil bit of that homemade hot sauce on there. Quinoa salad was fire - waiter said he eats it twice a week so it must be good. Sweet potato fries were gas - perfectly cooked. Dont forget to scoop the Brussels sprouts for an app. Also, drink local. Plenty of great local beers on tap. Loved it.
I was just there to have drinks with a friend. We shared a bottle of wine and she got food. Her fish tacos looked really good - I tried some of her sweet potatoe fries and, hands down, they were the best Ive ever had. Friendly service, great location and outside seating. I would definitely go back to try a meal.
Excellent food, excellent service. Shrimp and grits was great, as was the fried chicken. Only small issues were the seating was a little tight, and parking in that area is limited, but thats the case with all the restaurants in that part of Roswell. Definitely will be going back.
Wonderful lunch experience today. Our group had the turkey wrap, crunchy fish sandwich, chicken salad croissant, and buffalo shrimp tacos - everything was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and our waiter was congenial and attentive. We will most assuredly be back!
This place is definitely one of my favorite places to grab a beer at in downtown Roswell. If you’re passing by grab a strawberry vanilla Stout I highly recommend 10 out of 10. Live music is awesome band members are really cool. Has a very chill vibe and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend getting one of their burgers I’m drooling just thinking about it.
After reviewing an Irish Pub I needed to find a restaurant to have Dinner and a Beer with my Best Friend. I walked down the street in Beautiful Historic Roswell past quaint cafes and restaurants and chose Roux. We were seated immediately and greeted by “Carmen” our server. She was very efficient and displayed “Southern Charm” on a very hectic St. Patrick’s Day! I had a Cuban Sandwich which was delicious and their Homemade Kettle Chips. The Chips were served warm with their special seasoning! Definitely try them. Food was very reasonably priced. Great food and great service!
Great experience, I’ve never been here before and working in the industry I can be pretty picky but understanding as well and there was nothing that could have been better. Our server steven was amazing and really cool. He never rushed us and helped with the menu with great knowledge. The hostess sat us in great time and the look of the place was beautiful even with the rain outside. The food was on point and I’m definitely coming back!
It was my 1st time being here and I absolutely adored the place even though it was very small and it seemed kind of cramp.. we were comfortable. For dinner I had their meat loaf and it was cooked to perfection. I paired it with a couple of their great red wines that they had available... the 1st wine was a 1000 stories then the drink a wine called the conundrum. both excellent choices. The servers were so thorough in their work I really enjoyed my time here and Ill be coming back soon.
Had a great lunch experience. Anna the bartender was delightful and offered good suggestions. I had two local beers while my wife enjoyed Annas handcrafted margarita. We started with a dozen oysters from Virginia. My wife had an Anna recommended gouda burger and I enjoyed the pressed Cuban sandwich. Well be back.
This has become our go to spot. The menu ranges from hot sandwiches to full entrees. The restaurant is small in size like most on canton street but the food, service and beer is worth the wait. Their craft draft beer selection changes often but always has great new options I have not yet had the opportunity to try. Best beer selection in Roswell. Cheers!
We had hopes for this very quaint location on Canton. The fried catfish came out very oily and not crunchy at all. I tried to eat it, but could not stomach it. I ended up telling the waitress, and left it on my plate. I thought the restaurant would make a concession but to my surprise I ended up paying full price. Probably going to be a while before I give it another try.
First time here and had a GREAT time. The service was top notch. I was greeted and seated immediately (and they were fairly busy at the time). My server was professional and efficient and my food was delicious. I got one of the best burgers Ive ever eaten. It was the one with gouda and guacamole. I was out with a friend and when I went home I immediately told my husband that hes got to take me there. I cant wait to go again!
If youre going to put blue cheese on something, list it on the menu. Wasted $30 on two small wraps that taste awful. Got the order to go so I couldnt have it re-made. Two stars because I can tell it would taste good if they had accurate ingredient lists and the portion is tiny for the price. $9 would be high for this amount of food, much less $15 each wrap.
I saw Seafood Risotto that other people posted for this restaurant that looks really good, so we went there for lunch. Turns out it only on the dinner menu but waiter said they can make for me. When the food came out, I was little disappointed and lost my appetite...maybe the chef is not in the cooking mode or maybe different chef cooking that day, he just soaked everything in creamy/cheesy soup like someone vomit on it. I only had few bites. Oh I never see any restaurants surcharge extra for ordering dinner entree on top of dinner price because of lunch hours. For sure not going back...
This is one of our go to places. The food, beer selection and service are consistently fantastic. They offer a rotating selection of unique craft beers. If youre unsure, the servers are glad to grab you a sample before bringing you the full pour. Theres always something new to try on tap. Our food favorites are the mac and cheese, mussels, seasonal salads, and shrimp and grits. They offer a grilled cheese beignet that my kids adore! Canton Street allows open container so if theres a wait on a table you can take a drink to go and take a stroll until they page.
Went once and got the biggest oysters in my life... The size of my hand, literally. Went back thinking that was their thing, ordered 3 dozen and got tiny, little things... And was told by the waitress afterwards that half-priced oysters are on some other day (wasnt expecting half priced, but at those sizes they should have been anyway). Service is good, though. Atmosphere is cozy.
Get the crab cakes. I repeat, get the crab cakes. All of the food was good, but the service is what pushed this one to 5 stars. They were super busy, Friday night, every excuse to not be perfect but in fact the service was just perfect. Three days in Atlanta and this was the runaway favorite.
Great food and drinks. Had the Fish Tacos with Red Beans and Rice as well as the Classic Burger with Mac & Cheese. The order was off a bit and they had to go back twice for add-ons to the burger but then took it off our check. Been here many times and will continue to return.
Great food, great service, fin atmosphere, love music. We ate here on a Friday night. We were able to sit outside, which was nice since it wasnt too hot and gave us the opportunity to watch all the hustle and bustle of canton st. We could also hear the live music without being blasted by it. The food was good and the prices reasonable.
I had the Soup(Tomato Basil) and Salad(Farmhouse) Combo with Cheese Beignets. The Soup was good, but a little on the salty side(maybe leave the cheese out or offer on the side), the Salad was good, just not enough Dressing, so it was dry and the Cheese Beignets were a complete fail. It was basically flat bread with a liiittle bit of cheese in btwn.
What a treat. I took the family here for my wifes birthday. The food is great as is the selection of craft beers. There isnt a kids menu precisely but they have plenty of kid friendly options if you ask. And the waitress and kitchen staff were very accommodating to my picky teenager. All plates were cleared so everyone seemed satisfied. Plus beignets for dessert.
Food is great, drinks are awesome, the staff is nice. I gave it 4 stars because I went the other day by myself and took my infant the inside is so small I could not take her to the bathroom with me because her small umbrella stroller would not go past the tables. The hostess did watch my daughter but it was uncomfortable, Im not sure what would have happened had she had to seat someone. Someone in a wheelchair would be unable to use the restroom.
I love the vibe of downtown Roswell and the Roux has the same energetic vibe. The food is good we ordered the Oyster Poboy, a BLT, and the Gouda burger. And had nachos and cheese dip (OMG that cheese dip is amazing). The staff is very friendly and attentive. The only downside to this place is its too small. You want to eat your food and get out in a hurry. I saw a waitress spill water on a customer (the customer didnt make a big deal...you kind of expect it lol. Even the outside space is congested. If I go back, it will be a to go order.
Service was awful. We showed up on an early Saturday after late breakfast, wasn’t incredibly busy (about 75% full) Me and my wife sat at the bar, and I asked for a beer for me, and a lemonade for my wife. After about 10 minutes, the bartender kept pressuring us to buy food as well. Since we had just had breakfast, we weren’t hungry, so I told her after the 3rd time she asked that I just wanted to have a couple of beers. She was almost running us off the place at this point and it was getting uncomfortable (I guess they make their money on food and not on beer?) so I paid my one beer and left. Never coming back to this place.
The wife and I had lunch here after a quick hike with the doggo. Service was a bit slow but friendly though the hostess seemed to be annoyed. The food was quite good, cuban sandwich and po boy. I think they need to address their fried pickles however. Not a good showing. The fries we killer.
Dinner last night with girlfriends at Roux was amazing. The food was sooooo good. We had the brussel sprouts and the southern sampler and they were so good we ordered them both twice. The Dip was amazing too. The staff was friendly, our waitress did a great job of being attentive while letting us chat all night. The expo boys are adorable and funny. The bartender made a stellar margarita. It was over a great experience and I will be back.
The restaurant is decent, there are better places in alpharetta and Roswell. It reminds me of the food at the union (which is 2 stars IMO) and the service is pretty okay for the amount of people that go in and out of there. Only reason why this place has 3 stars is because its obvious that they dont use very high ingredients, it may not be bottom shelf food but they are making a huge profit. Like many people have said before, 20$ for a plate of fried oysters...? I probably wont be going back simply because my family is from new Orleans and its not authentic Cajun, but Im sure someone who isnt very exposed to Cajun food would actually quite enjoy it. Overall, its a good restaurant that would get a bump with some refining on the technique and ingredients
My wife and I stopped in for lunch this afternoon and loved the food, the drinks and the atmosphere. Located in the heart of roswell in a small allyway style resturaunt. The bar provides a large selection of local, domestic and imported beers. They also seemed to have a large variety of liquors for mixed beverages. I had their signature fried chicken sandwich and found it to be delicious. From my views of other peoples food i wouldnt have a problem eating anything from their menu. Their meals are also reasonably priced. ENJOY!
Were from Cumming, but we decided to spend our anniversary cruising Canton Street. We stumbled upon Roux. It looked cool, so we went in for a brew. The staff was very friendly, and the patrons were just as nice at the bar. They had a great draft selection, and we were even able to take our beer to go. Good times!
For visiting folks, driven by hunger from the black hole that is being stuck in an office all day, we were happy to find this place. Definitely a local favorite and fit for foodies. From oysters to the Dip, chicken to pasta, we definitely ate our fill and relished in the delight of expanded waistlines. Thank goodness for stretchy pants and comfortable pajamas - with food this good, how could you possibly put your fork down? Make sure you stop by, but we warned youll want to try everything and they definitely dont have forklifts to haul you out!
Had the gumbo, the crab cakes, and a Shirley Temple with black cherries. Not only was the entire meal beyond perfect, it was hot and came out shortly after we ordered it, (about ten minutes for the entree and maybe only a couple minutes for the gumbo). I ordered this at dinner time on a packed Friday evening. We ate outside and the scenery was wonderfully entertaining without being noisy and obnoxious in any way. The portions were huge, even for a cup of gumbo. I definitely believe that the portions were worth every dime that I paid. In fact, I could barely eat half of the meal and had to resolve to taking the rest in a box. This is a GREAT restaurant, and I recommend it without reservation!
I felt like the food was good in theory, but it was poorly executed. I came by Sunday morning and my soup and risotto were cold. I was also moderately disappointed that day risotto did not use arborio rice but I could have gotten over that if not for the temperature. I ordered my burger medium and half of it came out that way. The other half came out burnt and smashed as if someone pressed it onto a grill and forgot about it. My girlfriends salmon sandwich was excellent and to proper temperature. I will be back to have their food again, the service was excellent and I really dug the menu.
Roux has gone downhill. What happened to this place? This used to be my goto place every weekend. Friendly staff greeting me at the door handing me my drink before I sat down. Now know one knows us! We get ignored sometimes sitting for 10 minutes at the bar watching the bartender talk to there friends at the other end of the bar! This happened to us 3 x! So you can’t just say this was a bad day. At least I’m saving money every weekend.
I agree with Andrew Oysters at 20 bucks whoa! Ive had better shrimp and grits and benigets both but it was OK. The service was good, there only draw back is Im pretty sure my server took a smoke break at some point because I could smell it and that always kills the experience a bit. I had a Scout mob so what can I say...
Can you give NEGATIVE stars??? First off the staff is just LIES to you about the wait time. Our 1 ½ hour wait turned into a 2 ½ hour wait. Then we were FINALLY seated next to the bar where all the drunks could run in and out of the restaurant hitting us in the back CONSTANTLY!!!!! Then the wait staff continued with this ABUSE AND BATTERY by pushing through the drunks and hitting us in the back!! The food was HORRIBLE!!! I had what the menu called Shrimp and Grits…RUBBERY shrimp over OVERCOOKED grits with COLD GREASY onions and peppers on top. My husband had the shrimp and steak, ONLY 4 SMALL SHRIMP AND 4 SMALL PIECES OF STEAK!!!! Appetizer sized proteins on entrée sized starch!! Another person ordered the Po Boy WITHOUT rémoulade sauce, when the waiter brought the sandwich, he was asked if there was rémoulade sauce on it, the waiter said NO. Well the sandwich was COVERED with rémoulade. So even the chef and wait staff are CLUELESS about the menu. This was our anniversary celebration, and after all the ABUSE we were put through, NOT EVEN A PIECE OF CAKE was brought to our table. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE. On top of all of this, I was SICK to my STOMACH half the night after eating here!!! Do yourself a favor and go to Popeye chicken for better food, larger sizes and more authentic Cajun cuisine!!!
Arrived on Saturday at 7:15 with a party of 6. Was told there was a 45 minute wait (as expected) so we happily had drinks down the street. After 2 hours and dozens of other customers seated ahead of us, we still did not have a table. We were told that they were waiting for a table of 6 to clear but apparently that table is staying to listen to music so we were apparently out of luck. Sorry. Lesson learned: if you ever show up at Roux and are told there is a wait, run away. Immediately.
Food was good but I do not think the Roswell set up is trendy ... al fresco or inside in those old stores is sad ... Americans have settled for less ... valet parking, lol ... strolling along the footpath they call a sidewalk is dangerous & getting a refill on tea us a herculean task...
On my second visit to Roux, I ordered the PEI Pasta. It actually tasted good and I enjoyed my drink as well. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the mussels and I got terrible food poisoning. I wont go into detail but it ruined my weekend and my appetite for seafood. My boyfriend tried calling the restaurant to let them know in hopes no one else would get sick. We were told the manager would call us back but he never did. We wont be returning to Roux on Canton.
My wife and I finally got a chance to stop into Roux on Canton about a week ago. It was about 12 noon and we beat the incoming lunch crowd. Our server (very cool guy with a gruff beard) convinced us to have a Pimms No. 1 Cup to start. They were amazingly refreshing. We then split a shrimp Po boy sandwich with homemade house chips. That was a mistake because after having one bite I wanted the whole sandwich! The sandwich was perfection - better than those Ive had in NOLA itself. The remoulade was truly savory and the shrimp were breaded just right for a po boy.The atmosphere of the restaurant is very laid back with cool music in the background (Phish, Widespread Panic, etc.).I cant recommend Roux on Canton enough and we cant wait to go back!
One word: Pimms Cup. I searched for MONTHS to find a local place that would serve pimms cups to no avail. Until one fateful day we went in for early dinner and BAM there is was on the menu. I fell in love. Their Pimms Cup is amazing. Very fresh, the perfect summer drink for men and women, makes me think I should be at a Polo Party wearing a sundress and men decked out in seersucker. Anyway, you must go and have one of their specials. I have been thoroughly impressed with a lot of their dishes, and most of the time their specials are my favorite dishes. Make it a priority to try this place out at least once! Oh and they also serve hot, fresh Beignets after dinner.
Although we were very excited to try this place it is unfortunate that we were unable to get ANY service. We waited 15 minutes plus and were not even served drinks or waters. The environment was nice but the lack of service when we visited put a HUGE negative image of the place in our mind.
As far as service and overall good vibes go Roux on Canton is THE leader on Canton Street. The beer is always hoppy and fresh, and the food is excellent. Proprietor Zach Bramblett is a visionary, and always evolving his menu and drink menu to cater to customers tastes and stay ahead of the curve.

2022-05-25It was our first time on canton street and it has a ton of different restaurants to choose from. We hopped around and chose to dine at Roux. We weren’t too hungry so we had some small plates to share. The drinks here are absolutely amazing! Definitely recommend the frozen margarita. We ordered fried oysters which were good too, as well as a watermelon salad. The watermelon was fresh and juicy however there was way too much cilantro which did not pair well with the salad.Definitely stop here for some drinks!

2021-12-07Came here to grab a quick lunch during a Saturday and have no complaints. The service was wonderful, food delicious and the location created a nice atmosphere. We got the lobster roll with mac and cheese and chargrilled oysters (comes in counts of 3 and has 3 flavors available) to share. Each of us also ordered burgers for ourselves with fries. The fries were nice and crispy. We will definitely come back!

2022-04-27I went for lunch with my Husband. I had the Lobster roll and shrimp and Steak skewers. The only issues I had was the menu was dirty and shouldve been whiped off it had little pieces of lettuce or some green vegetable stuck on it. The other was with the lobster roll was more like a hot dog bun from the supermarket and not being thick enough to support the meat piled on and fell apart on but, the taste was phenomenal. The waitress was sweet and accommodating and it was peaceful to have the window seat and look outside.

2022-03-03The hurricanes are made with real juice and they are well worth the trip to this place. We were lucky to get the crawfish because they were cooking them outside. I am looking forward to returning for some more good food.

2022-03-08Went to Dinner tonight. Rainy Monday night, no wait. Had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with gravy and substituted slaw for the veggies. Meatloaf had a consistency and I liked it. Potatoes were creamy and good. Slaw had large pieces of slaw and I did not like. We ordered Beinets and they were awful. Totally obercooked and 7 bucks. Go to the plce down the street. Much better and only 5 bucks. Waitress was nice and food came out quickly. Thought it was a little pricey.

2022-03-20Enjoyed my visit. Our server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the fried oysters; they were excellent with the right amount of light, crispy batter. My burger was made well and flavorful. The other guests who I dined with enjoyed their food as well. Id eat there again anytime!

2022-06-23My family and I LOVE oysters so when I found out that Roux offered $1 oysters all day Sunday I made a reservation! I called on Saturday to make a reservation for 1:00PM the next day. In that phone call I expressed how excited we were for the oysters and the young lady and I shared a laugh. Then I called Sunday morning to change the time to 2:30PM and was informed that it actually worked better for the restaurant because they were getting busy-again I expressed how excited I was for the oysters. We get there at 2:35 (parking was crazy) and ask for 3 dozen oysters to start. Our server informed us that they ran out of oysters at 1:00PM and that they only received a shipment of 100 due to the heat wave.... Our faces literally dropped. She asked if she called me to let me know and I said no which is why were here and why we asked for oysters. We ended up leaving and had to pay $15 for parking and were only there for 20 minutes. I want to express that it was bad business to not let your upcoming reservations know ahead of time that your special will not be running as usual so your guests could make accommodations elsewhere. Im giving 3 stars because the staff was very kind upon arrival and over the phone. I hope to enjoy their oysters in the near future.
