Date of visit - March 10, 2022. Met here with family for lunch and what a great venue if you are looking for something fresh and different. There were five of us and I had the Oyster Poor Boy at around $13 after an appetizer of a dozen Oyster Orleans ($17) . What a treat. What a feast. Called for a to-go container and took 2/3rds of the entrée home for dinner. Our waitress was awesome on steroids. I cannot remember her name since I suffer from some-timers, but she had a cat tattoo on her leg. We had a great time, great meal, and sterling service.. Seeing the amount of waiting space outside, this is a popular venue and after experiencing Shuckers, I understand why. Great job, great service, great food.
Totally surprised! Walk inside and you’re in Florida (pick your favorite city to vacation). BUT…you don’t wait two hours, pay $150 and get seafood from a ziplock bag. Food is great and I’ll say it…better than most of the restaurants we visited in Charleston last week. (That hurt, but it’s true) Go today!
Has really gone downhill. It is hard to make a tasteless crab cake but Shuckers accomplishes this feat. Po-boy, meh! Pickle was good. The 2 star rating is generous, we will not be back. Owner claims to address every customer issue. Wait staff knew of the issue concerning the Crab Cakes, never addressed to management.
If you want proof of how unprofessional the ownership here is, read all the owner responses to lower reviews, they always act like the customer is wrong, and that they are right. This is a massive indicator that the owner will not learn from mistakes. I can only hope my review invokes an owner response with more unfounded selfishness to drive home my point more. The ownership and management are an issue. They went to Facebook, labeled my grandparents as Dine and Dashers and showed their faces for all to see. they thought they had paid, even wrote the tip on the written on the receipt, and had to-go boxes with a to-go meal. They lost attention in conversation and thought that the waitress had already grabbed the check, paid, and brought their card back.Sadly this was not the case, and accidently walked out without paying. The owner then posted their faces on Facebook, and said awful things about them.Very unprofessional, disgusting actually, to not only post peoples faces on Facebook, but also assume that my grandparents intentions where malicious. My Grandparents went back to pay once they realized what happened, and the owner didnt say sorry, or anything. She was very rude, and saw no wrong in her childish actions. These are not the kind of people I would dare serving me, my children, or anyone. Stay clear of this hateful restaurant.
The shrimp and grits??? ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!!! Ive never had shrimp and grits before and it was heaven. Also their crab cakes were awesome!!!! Drinks were on point and the greatest atmosphere and live band. Richard (the owner) was very nice and makes you feel right at home, greeting every customer at their tables and making sure they are comfortable and ok. Great Southern Hospitality!!!
Great visit as always. Love the raw oysters and the horseradish is amazing! We usually have date night once a month to Shuckers to get our oyster fix. The grouper is great and the shrimp is also great. Will have to keep working my way through the menu and update more. Dont miss out on this Carrollton gem.
Friend ordered fried pickles appetizer. I ate about half of them and I dont even like pickles normally. Voodoo shrimp appetizer is so good. Kept it simple since it was my first time here and got the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp were large and batter they fry them in was very flavorful unlike most places where the batter is bland. Our server was attentive and very pleasant which made the whole experience great. Will be back often.
Total 5🌟 for the flavor. I have to do better taking pics FIRST...I realized by our 2nd order of oysters😋 I didnt tke a pic. Crab cakes were good def homestyle no fancy stuff just pan seared & crispy. The Shuckers Way was the bomb! I recommend if you want a day trip from Metro Atl to West Ga. Local feel...no fancy frills! Ask for Luke 🌟 server & tell him Brenda sent you!
Okay, if you were ever able to visit the original Shuckers on south 27, then this new version leaves you wishing that Shuckers stayed a fond memory from the past. However, if you know nothing of the Shuckers from Carrollton history then this restaurant is a wonderfully overpriced place to enjoy great fresh oysters, delicious crawfish, and mouth watering over boiled crablegs. The new wallet draining Shuckers is ready to franchise and compete with Joes Crab Shack. In my photos you will see a 1/2 pound of snow crab legs and a 1/2 pound of crawfish. we also had 24 raw oysters @ 12$ a dozen (not a bad price). I had a college grad. Thats a shot of well bourbon in the smallest shot glass I have ever seen and a caned 16oz pbr. My wife had a off the minue 4$ mixed drink she said, I cant taste any alcohol in it. I think its mostly ice. Anyway the food is great as we ate the oysters before remembering to take photos but I will not be returning here anytime soon.
We had a party of 5 on Saturday night and were able to be seated outside right away. The menu is very diverse and they have a great drink menu as wellI had the strawberry tart lemonade. It was delicious. Our waitress Ariana was excellent. So nice and courteous. My 80 year old aunt was with us and was a bit indecisive. Ariana was so patient and kind. She also checked on us throughout the entire evening. The oysters were great , the surf and turf was great. Everything was great. I will definitely be returning.
We did Shuckers for my Sons 22nd birthday. Call in and pick up. 2lbs of crabs for the baby boy and a lot of other great tasting goodies. Only lived in this area for 2 months and have already frequented this place 4 times. Service is fast, CS is spot on, price is reasonable and quality is outstanding! I was told that our order would be ready in 25 minutes and it appeared to only take 15. Great job Shuckers, you have customers for life.
Friendly staff. Clean establishment. After reading reviews, I was anticipating great seafood. I ordered by phone, Voodoo shrimp and crab cakes. Picked up my order, $23. I thought they’d offer a complimentary to-go drink while I waited, since it was 20 past the “ready in about 10mins” pick up time I was given over the phone. So I ordered a sprite anyway, after realizing the price for 16oz, I changed my mind. Still no compliments on the sprite. I got my order and decided to eat in my car since I wasn’t going right back to the hotel. To my surprise, the Voodoo shrimp are small shrimp, about 6pcs. The “lump crab cakes” (crab cakes are my fave) were overcooked and as I ate around the “too crispy parts” of it, there was no lumps of crab anywhere in them. I was so disappointed, $23 wasted. For that amount, the food should have been way better prepared and more fulfilling. My daughter starts school at UWG in the fall, and it sucks that on my visits, I most likely won’t return to this restaurant, despite my love for seafood.
Fresh SeafoodI went here back in October after they first opened up with my wife and sister in law. The wait staff was very friendly and our food came out quickly. Now I must add that this place specializes in oysters but I do not like oysters. Looking around the restaurant I saw tons of people eating oysters prepared all different sorts of ways and everyone seemed to be enjoying it.Myself and my party all enjoyed the fired shrimp plate. It was freshly prepared and brought out promptly, but I must add I have had better. The food wasnt bad but when I can go down the street and get better shrimp then I must give this review 4 stars. If you like a family friendly, bar type beach theme and are in the mood for oysters, then this is the restaurant for you.
Staying in motel nearby and loved their food so much we picked up dinner 2 of our 3 nights we were in town. We had the Keylime oysters which were amazing and so were the Hushpuppies. Everything we had was top notch!! Staff was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely get food here again if we are ever in town.
Wonderful lunch with the wife today! The Crab cakes were heavenly! I had a fried oyster and shrimp basket with a side of delicious wings with the Boss sauce. My wife had the red snapper with cheese grits! Everything was top shelf!!! The service was excellent! We have found our new Seafood spot!!
We have found a new favorite place to eat! You normally have to drive to the Gulf to get seafood this good!! We ordered a half dozen baked oysters as an appetizer. The cheesy goodness on top of the oysters was amazing. My husband and I both ordered crab claws, fries, hush puppies, and slaw. Everything was delicious! The prices were great, the portions were plenty, and our server, Luke was very attentive. We will be back very soon.
Great restaurant, excellent service, great seafood! I’ve known this family for many years and they serve up the best seafood around. Love the atmosphere. I was there when they opened the original Shuckers and couldn’t have been happier when they decided to bring Shuckers back! Love love love me some Shuckers!
Love the food, love the owner, but the last two times I went the bartender made comments about having to deal with keno. Today she made sure she let me and another customer know that keno was her last priority. She was very rude about it. I closed out and left immediately. I use to never have this issue.
I have to say my wife and I ate tonight for the first time. The food was Great & the prices were very reasonable. but I really have to commend the entire staff EVERY one from the Hostess, to our server and all the assist servers and it was a very busy Friday night everyone had a SMILE on there face. The Food was Great & OUTSTANDING overall experience.
Ordered the lemon garlic oysters and it was delicious. So delicious that I placed an order for another half dozen. This is a very popular spot for the locals and I can see why. Staff is friendly and courteous. Set up is similar to a tiki bar and grill with outdoor seating available. Will definitely be back.
Staff was great, they had half of the dining room closed down, it was mid afternoon on a Saturday, felt a bit cramped, but Im sure its much better when they have the whole restaurant open, food was GREAT... We had the seafood deluxe platter (I believe is what it was called) with a side of hush puppies (had to order a second batch, so good) and a dozen of raw oysters... Oysters were ON POINT, so good!! It was a very pleasant visit, I will be back :)
We have been a few times now. 1st experience was not great (we sat at the bar) but the last two times were quite nice. The oysters were fresh and tasty. Both servers were friendly and helpful. Decent beer selection and decent food for a decent price while getting decent service. What more could we ask for.
The food here is the BEST. Adequate portions are served and the quality never disappoints. Highly recommend the VooDoo Shrimp. This establishment also supports local schools and other small businesses. Richard wants our community to grow and prosper. Need more businessmen like him.
Went for the first time with friends. Atmosphere was nothing fancy, but very cute and charming. Tried the fried pickles as an appetizer, they were very thinly sliced, and perfectly battered and fried. We also tried the key lime oysters, which were delicious and ended up ordering another dozen! 2 of us ordered the shrimp and grits with grilled shrimp, and while their take on it is a little different than the traditional with regular grits and a gravy, their cheese grits were wonderful and the whole dish was delicious! The other person ordered a burger and it looked fantastic. Our server Travis, was the perfect balance of attentive and efficient yet not intrusive. Never let our drinks go empty and even offered to go drinks. As a whole, it was a great experience and we will DEFINITELY be going back!
My wife and I shared the seafood platter. I agree with other reviews that the portions are quite large. Our food was very well prepared, and came out in a timely fashion. The only reason I didnt go 5 stars was that the waitress allowed tea to run out at the beginning of the meal. My wife and I had to wait over 5 minutes to have our drinks refilled, and to get our dinner drink order placed. However, this was the only problem we had with our meal. I do not have a problem recommending this place to my friends and family. We will definitely be adding Shuckers to our list of date night restaurants.
This place is ABSOLUTELY amazing. I had the pleasure of working at the original Shuckers Oyster Bar back in the day. Thats where I first met Richard Acquaotta, the now owner of the Shuckers Oyster House. Much like his personality and overall being as a person, the restaurant is the same way. From the moment you first walk into the restaurant you can just feel the southern hospitality that the place gives off, you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The hospitality and service of the restaurant overall is excellent, the staff and employees are well trained and very hospitable. The food was absolutely amazing as well. For my appetizer i got the Gator Tater my personal favorite and as always its never a bad choice. For my main course I have tried a good bit of the menu but i usually go for a steak with shrimp with sauteed mushrooms and onions on top and it never lets me down. If i dont get the steak i get the grouper sandwhich or the shrimp po boy. Overall with the service of the staff, kitchen crew, bus boys/girls, servers, all the peoole who help keep the place clean with the whole Covid-19 thing going on, the place it absolutely amazing and well worth my 5star vote! Keep up the great work and keep showing people what good southern hospitality looks like and what really good food taste like!
Went here because other good reviews. FANTASTIC! My wife got fried oysters and I got fried buffalo shrimp. Both were incredibly fresh tasting, fresher than on the actual coast. The biggest thing for me was the breading on my shrimp was still crunchy even with the buffalo sauce on it, which is rare. Pretty good service and laid back environment.
The food is great. The reason a 5 star was not given the emoloyees were more interested at being at the bar talking than taking care of customers. We asked to be seated at the tall table but the young tall guy seated us at a table. Not a big deal to us but he was quite upset when the young lady moved us. She was great and i am sure he would have been also.
We arrived with a large group for lunch time. Since it was May and beautiful weather, we decided to eat outside on the patio. The staff accommated us nicely. Although busy, there was no wait even near noon. The menu was diverse but simple, that nice balance. I ordered a salmon special with rice and a side dish, and it was delicious. Others ordered fried dishes, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff remained attentive during our 90 minute stay but without hovering or rushing us like at many places.
We kept saying we needed to try this place and we finally did. We split a half order of Shuckeffelor Oysters...delicious! I had the Smashed Up Grouper sandwich (blackened) and Kim had the crab cake sandwich...both were fabulous! Ms. Amanda/Mandy at the bar took good care of us. We have already decided that we have to come back again.
I ate here for the first time last night. The food was amazing and fresh! The prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant. My girlfriend and I got shrimp po’ boys. They were delicious! We will definitely be back there again soon!
Only reason I gave 1 star was so I could leave a review! Drive up from Florida for an over the weekend trip to visit family. Arrived at 4:30 pm and there were 19 of us. After the hostess, which was rude and acted as if she didn’t care about having our business, seated over 20 people, told us she didn’t have tables together in the same area for us. I told her she could scatter us around in different tables. She acted unconcerned and as though it annoyed her. Sad that a business would act that way during hard times and turn away customers.
Visited Shuckers 2 times today(Friday, 10/20/2017). Staff personnel very professional and fun to be around, very caring. The climate upon entering was wonderful. I had my meal outside on the picnic table, most refreshing. Invited one of my friends to come along the second ,she enjoyed her Catfish Basket with steamed veggies so much. I had oysters on the half shell two times, mercy me, just right.Karen , the owners mother came to speak to us and she made us feel extraordinary. I live in Columbus, Georgia and will return with others to enjoy this great food and caring people. Thank you!
Oysters are always good. Didn’t understand last time I was there, it was 3:44pm and was constantly being asked to close out our tab...like we were being rushed out. There is no one there, didn’t really understand. It was to the point where we felt like we just needed to go. Not greatest experience.
The crab legs are fantastic! Ive never been disappointed here. Its a long way from the beach, and its rare for me to eat seafood away from the ocean, but when I get to craving crab legs and cant get to the coast, this local spot always comes through with both food and atmosphere. Love it. Also, the hush puppies are amazing. They have a saucebfir them thats pretty much whats up.
I tried this location back in February and being raised on the fl panhandle I didnt expect much because its hard to find good seafood out here but needless to say I was hooked after my first bite of gumbo. Which is by far the closest to grandmas gumbo Ive had in the state of ga. Everything is awesome. The oysters are fresh and nice sizes the crawfish are fresh and perfect with a little cocktail sauce and the crab legs are amazing as well just wish they were bigger sometimes but if you order by the lb you get your moneys worth regardless. Oh and the lobster mac and cheese is off the chain. The people are super friendly and down to earth and a good time all around. The bartender makes drinks strong enough to knock out an elephant which is a huge plus shes had to cut mine down a few times lol Ive spent enough there to pay rent for like 3 months lol but its so worth it! Im fixing to order after writing this hahaha the one and only thing Ive ever had a complaint about is sometimes the steamed shrimp is hit or miss texture wise but thats not that often! Its defiantly my favorite place around! I always order 3 lbs of crab legs 1 lb of crawfish and gumbo and gumbo fries which are freaking amazing as well...my bank account hates me after my weekly order but my stomach loves me everytimeeee they also give out cute little freebies like stickers lanyards bracelets etc my silver Kia sorento is repn a shuckers sticker as we speak! Would def recommend to anyone who loves seafood you wont regret it!
MOST of the food is DELICIOUS but WATCH FOR UNAUTHORIZED charges on your credit/debit card!Had a lunch date with my hubby Aug 15 2020, sat outside and dined. Gavin was our server. Early Sunday morning (1:57am) got a notification for a $99 charge from Xbox... WE don’t own an Xbox!Staff is nice BUT pay cash if you can... We were EXTREMELY disappointed because the ambiance didn’t warrant us to be cautious of who was swiping our card.Do better Shuckers!
Good food and service. Owner/ management goes extra step. Had issues with a card refund. They spent most of a day trying to figure out. At end of day and refund not accounted for they refunded in cash. Last of a dying breed that actually still put customers first. Thxs !
First time Ive eaten here. My Mother got the clam chowder & I got the Gumbo. The clam chowder was delicious. Didnt care for the Gumbo & picked 3 bay leaves out, (arent these supposed to be removed?). My Mother got the shrimp & oyster basket & it was really good. I wish I had gotten that. I got the shrimp & grits & opted for the grilled shrimp. According to the menu there was supposed to be bacon in the grits but there was none. The grits were orange which I guess meant they had a lot of cheese in them but I really didnt taste any cheese. The grits were a bit bland in my opinion. But the grilled shrimp I ordered were actually blackened & I hate blackened anything. Dont say grilled if you are going to blacken. Voiced my displeasure & was told I was an anomaly. I only ate 3 of my shrimp and only a couple of bites of the shrimp & was not even offered to comp 1/2 my meal. Ive eaten shrimp & grits in LA and many upscale restaurants and these were subpar. But I guess if youve never had really good shrimp & grits you might think these were good. Would go back for the clam chowder & really loved the breading on the shrimp & oysters.
Had a free lunch on the company doing a presentation for Healthy Home 365. Had a great meal! I had the Surf and Turf. My wife had the Grilled Mahi Mahi. The Cajun Corn on the Cob was great. Good hush puppies. I would order the same meal again. This location is highly recommended. If you are in the area, give this location a try!
I bought the shrimp basket for just under $13.00. It should have been called the fry basket. There were exactly 8 shrimp basket. Then I give the waitress $15.00 and she never return with the change. My friend give her $20.00 for an order under $15.00 and she never got her change back.
After my first visit a couple of months ago, when I was completely blown away by the crab legs and the craft beer selection, I booked a 40th birthday party for my boyfriend on the spot. Shuckers owners were exceptionally easy to work with in the planning phase, offering me several thoughtfully compiled menus at various price points, all of which were more than reasonable.Saturday, we arrived to the restaurant for the party to find that theyd gone far above and beyond just putting out food and drinks for us. The patio was beautifully decorated with tasteful beach decor, including sea net table runners, crafty sand and shell candle holders as centerpieces and even a custom made pallet wood sign announcing our party, with permanent markers for guests to use to sign their names on it as a take-home keepsake of the event. Theyd also cordoned off an adjacent area for us to set up corn hole boards because Id mentioned in passing that we might bring a few sets.As a corporate event planner, I was impressed before I ever took a bite of food. Then I took a bite of food.OK...Make that a whole bunch of bites, because everything was incredibly delicious. We had fried pickles, chicken fingers, peel-and-eat shrimp, hush puppies, fried shrimp, gator bites, gumbo with garlic bread and fried oysters. Every single item was presented not only beautifully but strategically to keep it fresh and appetizing throughout the three hour party. The Shuckers folks were attentive throughout the event, whisking away empty plates, refilling drinks and making bar runs for our guests the entire time.It was everything Id hoped it would be and more. They have customers for life in us, and Im willing to bet they earned 30 or so more last night as well. Everyone who came complimented the entire event and raved about how good all the food was.During the night, just like on my first visit, I observed the owners personally greeting almost every customer, getting to know a little about them and sincerely asking if there was anything they could do to make their food or their visit a little bit better. They take a genuine personal interest in making sure that every diner has a meal and an experience that makes them happy. As for me, I wouldnt change a thing. Thank you, and see you soon!
It was our first visit in years. The new owners have a great menu. Its smaller than it was in the other location, but the food makes up for it. The staff is friendly, informative with the menu, and the prices are very affordable. We will definitely be returning soon!
Our family in Carrollton just wanted to take us to one of their favorite restaurants. Unfortunately we had a large party and this restaurant was not equipped to deal with large parties. After waiting for an hour we were seated and upon talking to a younger gentleman that identified as the owner I was in disbelief. He was rude and we finally left with him actually yelling at us as we were walking out the door. I cant think of a time when someone was yelling at me especially when I hadnt raised my voice. I tried to talk to him to defuse the situation to no avail. I wish things had turned out differently. It looked like the food is good and based on the reviews I think I would have enjoyed it. Very disappointed.
Always great. Get there early because it gets busy especially on the weekends. Compared to other oyster bars and seafood places this is a bargain and I havent had anything bad there yet. My kids love it and it always the first place they say when I ask where do they want to go out to eat at.
Tried this place visiting a friend and will never go there again. Ordered the crab nachos and the cheese sauce was horrible. Told the waiter who in turn told the manager. She didnt even bother to come to the table to address the issue. The waiter apologized and felt bad but he did all he could. If you cant bother to take care of customers then I will never spend another dime there. Wasted money.
No frills beach vibe in a small town. Places like this scare me, because you just have no idea how fresh the seafood is. I took the safe route and had the fried shrimp basket. My friends had some sort of fish sandwich. The seafood was good. They have lots of different side options. Definitely not the best seafood in the world, but it certainly gets the job done considering where it is. Prices were a bit high for the area, but reasonable for the food.
I strongly recommend visiting another restaurant if your party is larger than 4.Give credit where due: Food is/has always been great. If you are dining with a couple friends, this review not for you. If you consider dining here with children or more than 4 be aware.Staff failed to communicate estimated wait time for our party of 8. Asked us to sit outside but again failed to estimate wait time. We assumed 10-15 minutes and decided we could do it even though temp was 90+ and in direct sunlight. 20 minutes later we asked the hostess for estimated wait time and she didn’t say. They offered to split our party but we preferred to sit together. Again, no estimate of extra wait was given. At this point, we assumed the remaining wait would be less than another restaurant so we decided to stick it out.We were seated after an hour wait and asked to speak with manager to express our concerns. The owner came out and did not want our feedback. Owner became hostile and was rude to my family and his tone was inappropriate. He followed our party outside when we decided to take business elsewhere saying “keep on and you’ll get what you came for.”
Let me first start off by saying that we have always enjoyed the food here. OUR dislike was very poor customer service wise. We went there this past Wednesday with a party of 15 family members to celebrate a birthday within our party. Well, She said we couldnt be seated until the entire party was present, we had 4 that werent there yet, very shortly 3 of those 4 showed up and the last one was caught up in traffic and wouldnt be there for at least another 20 minutes. The person that was going to seat us asked if this was our entire party, I said no, we have one more thats not here yet and that if we couldnt be seated we would take our business elsewhere. She sarcastically began telling me how it was the policy and all restaurants even Long Horns observed the same policy, I said No they do not, we do more than our share of eating out with large parties like this and have never been refused seating of such a large party with only a small quantity not there yet. She also said well go ahead go somewhere else if you want LOL, youre dang right at that point we walked out and spent our money elsewhere. Now, if this restuarant had been busy, I could understand her position on their policy or if half of our party was not there yet, but at the point when only one was not there yet, and there was only 3 small parties of 2 to 4 each in the resturant to begin with, (practly empt),, they should have seated us when we first walked in the door. The restuarant we went to asked nothing about how many of the party was actually there, they just immediately took us to their largest table and seated us and made us feel very welcomed. My suggestion to this restaurant would be to improve their customer service beginning with the owners, because after we left, I was told she was the owners wife that refused to seat us. Even though we have always enjoyed the food there, we also enjoy good service, something they were seriously lacking Wednesday evening. My money, my choice, your loss Shuckers. Not just Wednesday and not just by me, but a party of 15 and mostly will not return. Those 15 will influence countless others over the months and years to come. Also, you are Not Long Horns and they would have seated us and took our money as they always have in the past.
Not busy at all. Came in with a group of 6 on a Saturday at 1pm.Forced us to wait for over 30 minutes to be seated. Could have pushed tables together to seat us. But Would rather have us wait outside in the cold so they could keep more tables open.We left and will never go back!
Oh wow this place!! Met one of the owners. She introduced herself and spent some time with us. She shared some knowledge about oysters and how the restaurant came to be. Great food and service was the same. Well be back for sure. Thanks SHUCKERS for a nice date night dinner.
First time @ Shucker’s....celebrating a friend’s birthday! The shrimp in my fried oysters/shrimp basket were good....fried a bit too long. Have had really good fried oysters many times so I know how “good” tastes! These were overly big, very little batter and were very “squishy” to the point hard to swallow. Very strange “mouth feel”. Told waitress - she looked amused. Sd will cook remaining gelatinous oysters longer then. She took my basket containing my fries and a couple hush puppies. Brought back these very battered crunchy little things....I left them on the plate. When I asked where my fries and hush puppies were.....she said “want additional fries?” Still looking amused. Manager was in restaurant but did nothing about the oysters.....FIRST TIME - LAST TIME. Lunch for 3 = $64.00. (We all got medium priced lunches.)NOBODY cared. Seems if you don’t rave about less than mediocre- overpriced “seafood”......Shucker’s has no use for you!
Prices not bad at all. Portions were a good size. Service was a little slow but pretty good. Very nice waitress. I didnt like the picnic table/park bench they have for you to sit on AT ALL. It was hard, uncomfortable and very low. Ask for a regular table... especially if youre tall or have knee pain. Food was pretty good for a Carrollton spot. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was just ok... Not memorable. It was just missing something. Think it needs a better sauce and more crab meat. Gator bites appetizer was good but for $13 its not many and they add a ton of fries. (But I ordered gator bites- so keep the fries). Its not the best for seafood. Ive had much better and I prefer that. But its ok if you dont want to leave Carrollton. Judging by the reviews (which are a bit exaggerated and misleading imo) I assume not many have dined outside of Carrollton for seafood. Anyways... No plans to return.
My wife and I went to dinner at Shuckers last night. Its a great, laid-back atmosphere. A place to come as you are, hang out and have some great food. I had the Oysters Orleans and the fried grouper. The Oysters Orleans were cooked to perfection. A nice, crisp crust with a juicy oyster underneath. The grouper had a nice crunchy breading and the fish was moist and tender. My wife had the shrimp basket. Over the years Ive had fried shrimp at hundreds of different restaurants, from the big restaurant chains to local places right on the beach. The best that I had found was a little place called Bubba Gumbos on Tybee. However, Shuckers fried shrimp were fantastic. They were almost identical to the shrimp at Bubba Gumbos, and they are right on the water. It was like being right back on the ocean. The batter was light and crispy. A lot of places over batter the shrimp and it takes away from them. Shuckers does it just right. They have a great menu selection and well definitely be back soon.
Well this would of been my first time eating here but dodnt even get that far or to even order a beverage. As soon as i walk in the host was rude and didnt want to sit me anywhwre where I wanted to sot at all. And was vrry ride about it and showed me that she didnt want my business or my family to eat there . So i am not going to spend my money at a place that doesnt show any interest in giving me customer service and if the host acted that way i could only imagine how the server would of acted. Sad to say that I will not be trying this restaurants food for the first time.
Food as less than expected, service was horrible. We my pregnant wife walked in she asked to use the bathroom and was rudely told it was for seated, paying customers only. She started to tell the lady off but said nicely well as soon as my husband parks the car and gets in out of the rain we plan to eat here unless you refuse to allow me to use the restroom before you seat me.
We used to really enjoy coming here at least once a week for dinner, but dinner tonight changed our opinion. First they would not seat an older gentleman and another man with him because the third person in their party was not there yet. No excuse for that. Then when we got our bill we discovered that we were charged for every dipping sauce except for the one on the plate. Hello...put a freaking bottle of cocktail sauce on the table. It does not cost that much. And just an fyi...a side salad is not costly. You dont have to be so skimpy.
Have eaten here on several occasions and had some of their specialties as well as staplesTheir raw oysters are second to none. Their cooked fare is equally impressive. Need more specials on Corona. Lol. This will remain my go to for my weekly seafood fix. Fins up!!!!
First visit BUT, not the last. Great baked oysters. Shrimp Po Boys, crawfish, salads, and chicken. Even local craft beers. Im a guy that lived on a boat for years surrounded by seafood restaurants and Im impressed. Its a 45 min ride for me and Im looking forward to the next one. Ken Blitchington
Was there when they had live music and it was sooo loud I could barely hear the person sitting next to me. People were obviously uncomfortable with the volume but no-one did anything. I luckily got there near the end of it but that was ridiculous. Its good if youre into ok seafood that isnt very exciting just dont go when they have live music.
This is one of the finest oyster bar/restaurants Ive eaten at in a long long time! All of the oyster on the half-shell dishes are most excellent, I tried them all today, lol! And the Sweet Voodoo Shrimp is the best! My new go-to eatery in Carrollton! And I highly recommend the Abita Amber from Louisiana to go with it, or the Chateau St Michelle Reiseling!
Food tastes good but I have eaten there 2xs in 2 months .both xs gotten sick first time was the gator and the next was frog legs Im honestly scared to eat the raw food there ! My gf ordered the tinder and she got sick and my daughter as well this place must be cross contamination on foods or something any one else having this issue? .....

2021-06-14The food was not bad, our server was super nice and attentive. There was nothing special about the food we ordered. The fish in my opinion was over cooked and a bit salty for my taste (mahi mahi) with not a lot of flavor. The vegetable medley for me was a bunch of peas and my dad had mostly broccoli. I will go back back just maybe for a different entree other than what I had. We also ordered crab claws but they were fried🤔 I think that was a mistake on my part by not reading on the menu fully. I was okay with the fried claws, I just didnt expect it (Error on my part). The oysters were not bad, just not over the top amazing. I will most definitely go back but with a different mindset of regular seafood. I read the reviews on this place and had high hopes but FOR ME it was okay.

2022-02-09Excellent seafood restaurant. I had the best shrimp Po-boy I have ever had outside of New Orleans. The fried pickles and the hush puppies are outstanding. If you are in Carrollton, you have to check out Shuckers Oyster House. The service was great. I cannot wait to come back in the future.

2021-01-13First time visit and was very impressed. My Daughter and I will be regulars for now on. The crab cakes were great and both of the entrees were equally as good. The blackened Grouper and fried shrimp were back to back homeruns. Great service that couldnt be beat was just another reason to keep going back.

2022-04-06This a fantastic seafood/ oyster bar restaurant. The atmosphere is great and makes you feel you are at an oyster bar in the panhandle of Florida . Relaxed atmosphere where Ric, Natasha, and Shannon and all the staff makes you feel right at home . I would recommend Schuckers to anyone who is wanting to go the beach and cant. Try the Gumbo , it is as good as Docs in Orange Beach Alabama. Of course the oysters are as fine as anywhere and try the Grouper.
