Voted Wednesday, 10/21. Got here at 7 am and was out the door by 8:00. The line was wrapped around the building when I got there in the morning, so I thought the wait would be hours! Line moved quickly, was moving practically every 2 minutes. The poll workers were super efficient with guiding the line. There were 14 voting stations inside. Overall super efficient!
Wow, just wow. In town for a wedding and this place is absolutely exquisite. If I were to get married again or renew my vows, this place would be on the list for sure, the outside gazebo is nice as well as the grounds. The two young ladies that work at the desk on weekends were so helpful and polite, we really had a good time.
Tolleson Tennis courts are beautiful, in a great location in Smyrna but my issue is that booking the courts is IMPOSSIBLE. Debbie, who answers the phone makes you feel like a huge inconvenience for even calling, she is rude and not helpful. Every morning, I call Smyrna community center to book the courts for the next evening. I begin calling at 7:50 and every morning when someone answers the phone at 8:02, somehow all the courts are fully booked until 8-9pm. There is no availability from 5-8pm... How the courts book up in 2 minutes is beyond me. This morning, I asked the Debbie what I was doing wrong or should do differently to reserve a court and she rudely snapped back at me, Thats just how it is. I explained to her that I know, because I call every morning and every morning at 8:02, the courts are fully booked for the next evening when you dont even open until 8am. And she rudely asked, Would I like to reserve the 9pm or not? She was not helpful at all and made no attempt to tell me how the courts were fully booked at 8:02 or what I could do differently.
Things are off kilter. The prices for event spaces for residents and non-residents are clearly listed on their website. I called to confirm availability for the date of my event and was quoted completely different prices.I needed a 6 hour reservation; about 1 hour to set up, about 1 hour to clean up, and 4 hours for the event. Here is what it says on their website for the room I wanted to reserve:First 4 hours: $200Additional hours: $20Saturday rental hours: 8am - 12amWhen I initially called to check date/time availability, this is what I was told:First 4 hours: $200Additional hours: $70Saturday rental hours: 8am - 10pmWhen I called at a later time to double check availability I was told the following:First 4 hours: $200Additional hours: $20Saturday hours: Could reserve until midnight, but only if staff is available. Can only reserve space for a max of 5 hours. In my opinion, not only did I received way too much varying information to do business there, but I also received an attitude as if I was not welcomed to reserve a room. I was spoken to in a very condescending way and brushed off. I felt judged. On each call I was polite and clear about the type of event and hours I wanted. I prefer consistency and good customer service.
Although I didnt get to see the entire center the places I did visit inside were clean and spacious. I was able to see part of the gym area which looked well kept. I attended an event in the main hall and the air condition works well because it was quite cool inside that large space filled with vendors. Seems as if they need more parking areas for larger events. I did notice people parking in the grassy area as there was also a farmers market being held there on a Saturday morning.
It was my first time here and that entire area is very nice. I went to an event in one of the event rooms and it was a nice space. The only downsides to me were the hard chairs, the sound system wasnt the greatest, and you could hear the event going on next door. Everything else was great.
Lovely venue! A true hidden gem. Venue was clean, bathrooms were usually well stocked (2 of the 10 bulbs in ladies room were inop for the first 2 days of our event - one of the 2 functioning bulbs flickered constantly... a true migraine trigger), plenty of free parking, etc. I would definitely recommend this location. In hindsight regular bathroom checks should have added to the contract whenever doing an event at any location, especially for events focused on females needing lighting for makeup and hair touchups.
The community center has everything you need. Its a great facility. The staff of friendly. They have a small gym upstairs. They have basketball courts. They have a game time, vending machines and lots of other meeting spaces. They also have a schedule that you can pick up in the front so you know whats going on that month.
Smyrna Community Center was a very good experience for me today. I walked the track for the first time and everything was in fine working order and the staff was very friendly. It was my first visit to the track but I will definitely be back! The atmosphere was very positive
Great center. I gave them four stars because theres a good bit of construction everywhere and you really have to be careful to not fall. That lasts top step in the back its a doozy. A woman fell up the stairs on that one just the other week. Its like it has an extra, higher ledge to it than the others. Ive been going there a lot lately because Im dating one of the coaches and they have a lot of basketball teams for girls and boys. The age groups and skill sets vary, but every coach I have met seems to be dedicated to ensuring that the kids learn the skills necessary to play effectively. I also like the host of offerings that they have listed at the front desk as well as additional pricing piano lessons just you name it so much advertising something else that you can take at the center or near the center. The parking is also pretty good considering and maybe the on the other complaint I have is that the smaller auxiliary gym is cold always so very very cold like hat and gloves cold. Brrr
Very irresponsible staff, from booking to maintenance.1. We could not book 4 hrs on weekend birthday party by phone or online. 2. Finally after reaching there personally. booking staff is unavailable in office timing.3. Only after second visit we could able to book for sunday 11-3 PM.4. No air condition for the party hall. Maintenance staff does not have control on A/C switches.5. finally we have requested for 1 hr of extension. they were opposed for extending even 5 mins. even showing the security violation rules.Amazingly horrible experience with working staff. Some positive points:1. Have escalator and trolleys to move our stuff to 1st floor.2. Good community hall. huge parking space for all guest cars.
I walked into the center in hopes of viewing a room for an event. I said good morning with a smile and one of the ladies at the front desk greeted me with a very dry morning and turned her head. I proceeded to walk to the counter where she looked as if I was a squatter wanting a place to sit out of the heat. She never asked what she could do to help, but only a blank stare like I was bothering her so I politely told her that I was there to view a room as I had spoke with a lady over the phone and advised to do. She AND the lady next to her began asking questions like, which room are you looking for, with an attitude. I explained that I needed a space for 15-20 people and she still asks me which room am I looking for. I obviously didn’t know otherwise I wouldn’t have been there viewing the rooms. The OTHER lady then proceeded to ask if I were familiar with any of the other rooms and I explained that I’d visited a room with a party some time before and she stopped me in the middle of my sentence to tell me that, “THAT” room is much bigger and you don’t want to spend that much money, assuming that I couldn’t afford it. I snapped back like, “You just asked me if I were familiar with any of the rooms so I’m explaining to you what “experience” I’ve had with ANY of your rooms.” She gets on the phone and calls someone to take me on the tour to view the rooms where I was able to get an idea of what they looked like. I came back after viewing the rooms to possibly book it and pay the fees. She got a paper with the fees on there and began explaining what my options were. Once she was finished speaking, she asked if she needed to “point anything out” as if I couldn’t read and I was clearly aware of the prices, etc. At that point I was done bc I knew I was being degraded. While I waiting to speak with the other lady she referred to as “Jessica” about booking and reaching out to my planner, a young man walks by with his shirt off(black young man) as he was leaving and she tells him that he has to wear a shirt. Totally fine. She then gets on the phone and calls someone discussing what she’d told the young man and says, “We’re trying to make America great again, put some clothes on.” I knew then why I got the ugly stares and disrespectful attitude. I had been racially profiled. Of course that’s Trumps slogan. There are so many people of different races and color that visits this center. I’ve lived in Smyrna and recently moved due to the overwhelming population since the new stadium arrived and I’ve never seen such disgust. I will not be using this center for my party and I hope no one else has to deal with this. It’s 2018 for Christ’s sake! Get over yourselves! Mixed races have been marrying and getting along fine for YEARS now so it’s time for “America” to get on board. One of the lady’s name is Debbie and I don’t want to assume, but the other is Jessica. I hope this review helps someone else.
My husband and I celebrated our ceremony and reception here October 5th, 2013. The gazebo is beautiful and the scenery near the lake is amazing. Our guests loved the place! The community Room was the perfect size for us and the kitchen was great. A few miscommunications with new staff but one of them, Levi, was very very helpful. He made our experience a notch better.
Would normally give 5 but just had a horrible experience yesterday. My son was in practice from 9-10. A man came in at 9:56 and turned out the lights, and said Practice ended an hour ago. He gave no regard for the families in the gym. Mind you the place closes at 10! There was a professional way to handle this, and I am still upset and disappointed.
Im not giving it 1 star for bad service. Im not giving it 1 star because of the facility. Im giving it 1 star for the lack of basic human decency. While I was in my last class of the day, I check Instagram and saw one of my friends post an S.O.S . His car battery died and he was stranded in the parking lot of this community center. The post was posted 2 hours before I had seen it. 2 hours is an awfully long time to wait for someone to help you jump your car. So i figured someone at the center already helped but i decided to be sure. I commented on the post. Could you believe that he was still outside in the rain hoping someone would come help him jump his car? I told him I was on the way. Its about an hour away from where I was but thats what you do when someone is in need, HELP THEM. When i arrive, I ask him Did you ask anyone inside for help? Turns out every single employee turned him down. If i hadnt gotten there when i did, he would have been fired from his job (they dont count car troubles as an excuse to be late and his car is constantly breaking but he cant buy a new one right now because he has to fix the problems on this car to get to work and uses the money from work to fix his car. A cyclical struggle). If he wouldve gotten fired, he would not be able to provide for his family (he takes care of his parents for personal reasons I cant speak about). Moral of the story is that this man could have ended up on the streets and his family as well all because nobody in this Community Center wanted to jump his car. (And yes, he had jumper cables in case you were wondering). Were all humans, and we all have different struggles going on. If it doesnt cost you to help someone then please just help them.
Fat lady at front desk is rude and very unprofessional not only to me but the black children that came to ask if they can pkay2 fuse. When dealing with the PUBLIC & all races you need to have excellent customer service and if you are racist you need too do a damn good job covering it up. She gave a a very hard time after i researched this community Center online. So i came a very long way not to get what I came there for. So disappointed and 😠 she dont need to be sitting at the front of that establishment she gives it a very, very bad look. She need to be walking instead of sitting with her big racist fat self. Yeah, i said it she shouldnt have been so rude to me period !
Facility is nice. If you dont know where parking lot is located it is difficult to find. Handicap parking is on the opposite side of the ramp to the building and then it switches sides across a small court yard. There is no sign to indecate this. Handicap accommodation is a hit & miss situation.

2019-09-26We happened across the Midsummer Night Faire. There were lots of fun booths to visit with all kinds of homemade crafts. I made my first Christmas purchase of the year. It got too hot for us to hang around until dark to wait for the lighting of the dragon and all the acrobatics, but f they do it again next year well make it a point to go later to avoid the heat. Wed definitely like to have seen the festivities. There were also several food trucks there, but we had just eated so we didnt partake in those. My only complaint is that the police werent monitoring the parking situation. We parked in a handicapped spot at the police station, and when we came out someone had parked on the blue lines next to our spot so it was difficult for us to get in our car. If I had a ramp to unfold, I wouldnt have been able to. The police should really be checking out their own parking lot when a large event is going on.

2019-06-07Prices for classes could be better, but they have good community programs like puppet shows, magic shows, and veggie taste of Atlanta. Convenient voting location and great parking if you arrive to big events early. Have loved ever event weve attended there. Patrons can also rent space to host events like birthday parties and baby showers. Theres a lovely walking path that circles a pond with fountain filled with ducks, geese, fish, and turtles.

2021-10-23Went to the Jonquil Festival today. It is one that we always enjoy and I was glad to see it back this year after missing last year due to covid. There were many vendors but not much in the way of performers. Maybe more in the spring. This festival is held twice a year, Spring and Fall. Check it out.
