Positive: The view was awesome. You could tell that the hotel used to be super cool and upscale. If the hotel was able to provide what used to be and had more guest interaction and activities this place good be the best in the area. Negative: Some of the hotel staff was amazing (the girl that checked us in and switched our rooms to the awesome 17th floor with view) while the other was insanely disrespectful and rude. He had zero manners and acted as if I was below him. He needs to be trained.
Rooms and hotel are outdated. Maintenance is extremely poor. Toilet seat was broken. 3 out 4 lamp shades broken. Bathroom has mold everywhere. Visible holes in the walls where paintings once hung. It’s pretty much on par with a Motel 6 or Super 8. Not a fan of this Sonesta brand.
Terrible experience! The bartender completely ignored me once she had a “more important” party to deal with. I was not even done with my food and drink and she just hands me my tab. I took it as a hint she wanted me to leave… so I did! Terrible customer service. The rooms not very nice either. Definitely will not return!
Absolutely the worst hotel Ive ever stayed and the worst experience. Upon checking in at 3am, due to a late flight I was told that my room that Ive paid a full reservation for was canceled due to not checking in earlier.Im sorry, what? The flight was delayed. Why would you give something away that Ive paid for. After a discussion with the manager they put us in a room, with no ac. I promptly checked out the next night.I paid for a suite and not only things were broken in the room, but it was clearly neglected. The next day I booked an airbnb with no issues, which is what I should have done in the first place.
No more like before.I remembered this place is very good place to stay in Duluth area. Ive been staying 2015, 2018 and 2022 this time.I booked with Hotels.com 4 days before. The staff asked me for reservation, I mentioned I did 4 days ago. He said he wasnt sure if they have available room for me. he said himself, he found one.The room I got was horrible. It was still first floor but felt like basement because the location was nearby swimming pool. And the dishwasher was not cleaned. there were still dirty dishes in it. Bathroom faucet was very weak water pressure.I returned to the desk for change the room. Because there were still available for few rooms from Hotels.com even with better prices. However, he kept told me not available any other rooms.Fine, I mentioned I will cancel this reservation through Hotels.com Because I can make re-booking for these available room for my end.He heard this method and he said oh, there you go,The one he gave me was awesome condition on 8th floor. I stayed 3 nights. The staff was trying to gave me such a bad condition room, I strongly felt he disregarded me in the moment. But he acted differently when I was mentioning the cancelation.I will look for other hotels next time when I visit the area.
Ive stayed here several times over the last 8 years. Their service has slowly depreciated. They dont seem have done any renovations since my first stay, either. They moved some things around inside of the rooms, but that is about it.The third night that I stayed, they finally cleaned the room, but didnt replenish any of the amenities. They went through all my things that were in the drawers and mixed them all up and moved them in to other drawers. They threw away my travel shower supplies. They even appeared to have gone through my toiletry bag and suitcase.I talked to the front desk about them going through my things and throwing away my shower supplies. I also let them know that my TV was out (could only see an image on the bottom of the screen). They said they would talk to the hotel staff and send someone to fix the TV.Two days later, I checked out and nothing had been done. By far, one of my worst hotel stays, ever!
Extremely disappointed! The front desk staff wasn’t friendly or helpful during our (3) day stay. The room was very small with outdated furniture pieces. Not enough plugs to even plug in the lamp, coffee pot, & microwave at the same time. These items were all placed on a desk that was too cluttered. NO HOT WATER in the sink or shower! Therefore, taking a shower was extremely subpar due to only having warm water. There is only (1) AC vent in the room which makes it impossible to cool the entire room, vanity area, & bathroom. The guests on our floor were very rude slamming doors, partying, smoking weed, & talking loud & laughing after 12mn every night. We complained to the front desk & they sent security up to address the problem which was pointless because the guests continued on until 3 am or 4 am in the morning. Basically, it was impossible for us to rest well during our entire stay. We were informed that housekeeping would NOT provide services unless we stayed at least 7 days (GO FIGURE) & when we encountered the housekeepers to request towels & toiletries they couldn’t understand a word that we were saying because they didn’t speak English. The housekeeper(s) appeared frustrated when they couldn’t understand us. The lobby area smelled fresh but the actual room had an old moldy smell. Also, I was under the impression that breakfast was included when I booked but later learned that breakfast was available for $15.00 at the hotel’s restaurant. Terrible experience!
I had previously stayed at the beautiful Sonesta (large rooms, very clean hotel) in Duluth; So when my husband and I were looking for a room for the night I called. Female answering phone was short temper and we were told there werent any availability rooms. We were close by and decided to go to the hotel; we got there a female and male was at the checkin. I asked for a room and very friendly male told us there were several rooms to choose from. I could tell the female recognized my voice (I recognized her voicefromthephone); after we checked in I asked the man, did they have a large amount of checkouts. My husband and I stood there for a moment, looking at the woman turning dark red. The young man asked Was there something wrong. I stated, No, I really appreciated his great customer service. He smiled big, I try. As we walked away, we heard the woman tell the young man what she did, stating that she was embarrassed. The young man told the woman, Thats why I always, try to be nice. You dont know when people will come in.
Our experience was horrible! The toilet would not flush in the room we were in we complained about this issue five times, maintenance finally showed up the night before we left after the toilet overflowed to the floor. Customer service was very rude about the issue kept talking over us when we tried to explain the issues with the toilet which was ridiculous. The rooms are very out dated. The inside pool smelled like rotten eggs and the color of the water was a dingy green and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in days. I will never stay at another Sonesta ES agian very poor decision for me.
Broken Elevator/ Wrong room/dirty/Disturbance.We were not assigned the rooms we booked. They overbooked and moved us to less room than what we paid for!! The elevator is unsafe! Many were stranded in an elevator for more than an hour on several occasions this weekend. Hard to take the steps to the 11th floor only to be stuck in the steps way. The fridge was not clean and the previous guests leftover drink was left in the fridge. Too many errors and disappointments to list. When I called the Hotel to complain, The elevator issues were blamed on the wedding guest for not following the rules of less than 6 people only for the elevator at a time. The hotel rep also said they are changing ownership so she is not sure when they can refund or compasate me if they decide to. Very disappointed!
Positive: The breakfast was great and staff was friendly Negative: I called the day before and asked if there was a hot tub available. They said yes, but when we arrived the pool and hot tub were closed for reno. Staff didnt seem to know that. Also, the shower in our room was broken and very old which I wouldnt expect.
I don’t know where to start. This is what I got for 150.00 a night. Only two of the six elevators work properly. There was no hot water for showers in the morning—luke warm to actually cold water. I was here for four days and no one brought any towels or wash rags or toilet paper. I had to go to the front desk and get them myself. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. On my last evening I ordered food and had it delivered and needed some silverware. No one at the front desk or anywhere in the hotel could help me. It was only 930 when I ask. I will never come to this hotel again. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Worst service I have ever experienced anywhere.
Heater and hot water not working; moved to another room the next day. Lobby bathroom and lobby area not as clean as I would think; waiting on elevator was ridiculous 5-10 mins wait; asked for a discount bc of inconvenience with everything, was told to call and speak to manager but front desk offered a small discount but I was still charged the full amount and still trying to talk to a manager. According to booking site, breakfast was grab and go and included; breakfast was actually served hot which was good but it did come with a cost which I did not know until I saw charge. Will never stay in this hotel again…not as clean, can use some updating, and then I’m still trying to make contact with a manager after a week is ridiculous
Bad stay! I had to change my room because the toilet would not stop making noise. (I even waited a full day to see if it would stop making noise). Then when I got my second room the 1st thing I saw was a roach on the ceiling, and a strange smell, things were not properly cleaned and the the lighting in the sink area was too dim! After my second night in the room the hot water for the shower stopped working and this went on for 2 days. Not to mention the ice machine had black specks in them, I even went up 2 more floors to see if the ice was clean but no, all the ice machines have black specks in them! Never going there again.
Believe the bad reviews, they are all true. Elevators trapping people, seriously old rooms with problems, food debris in the hallway both the night before & the next morning AFTER IT HAD BEEN CLEANED UP, just plain gross. Sure the hallway food debris was a lousy guest, but TWICE? Nope, move on & find a much better place to stay. Location wasnt bad - Bahama Breeze & TGI Fridays across the street.
Positive: Friendly and courteous service from the staff. Breakfast was great. Negative: The bathroom had some type of bug that looked like lady bugs. One side of the room was not working the microwave desk lamp and floor lamp. The staff changed my room and gave me free breakfast after my second call. I will stay here again.
I booked 2 rooms here and my reservation was not correct when I arrived. Me and my guest were piled up in a room like sardines. Our Tub was stopped up , we had to shower in a total different room. The elevators were all broken except for 1. The rooms were dirty. I was not happy with my stay. This is my 2nd time here and I was very disappointed.
The entrance was beautiful, clean, and the on-line photos are inviting BUT they are not this hotel.. The breakfast was great you can eat in the dining area or take a takeout tray. The rooms are spacious but the beds are misrepresented in size, and the pull out bed has a twin mattress on a full size spring with NO SHEET OR BLANKET available until next day. The spring tore my son pants in his sleep and scratched his leg!! The hot tub was out of order, the outdoor pool closed, the bathroom drain kept clogging up. We were charged when we booked and when we checked in, had to go to my personal bank after 3 days to dispute 2nd charge. NO cancelation available!!!! There is a $100.00 per day you stay hold for incidentals (still cant find where we were told this in advance). Due to the 2nd day hold of +$800 we did not attend 2 activities we planned. WOULD NOT CHOOSE AGAIN.
I called guess services March 4th and requested some towels. Still had not received them by Saturday, March 5th. I had to go the front desk and request them again. The elevators was out of service for a couple of hours and no-one from the facility called and let the guest know. Guest were only made aware of the issue when attempting to access the elevator. The emergency button on the elevator was hanging off and door to (I believe the control panel) was opened. The toilet was stopped up.There was a sign posted up regarding Mask and how fully vaccinated guest is not required to wear a mask, however there was not anyone checking to confirm who was vaccinated or not.Went to the gift shop trying to find an USB cord and the lady at the register was on her cell phone. Left and came back and she was still on the phone and when I asked for assistance she remained on the phone and pointed to a section full oh chargers for cell phones.
Horrible experienceI use to stay here often when it was Marriott. Sonesta has run this property in the ground.Pool was closed for maintenance on peak timeNever openedAC didnt work. Was over 80 degrees in the room (see pic)Bathroom dirty with hairHair in bedBlack spots on sheetsAnd to add insult to injury they stole from me.I left an item there and they claim they didnt see it.I know I left it bcuz I used it before I left thereI spoke with manager and called 3 times. Still no help. HorribleYou have been warned! Stay away
Came in to view the ballroom was immediately turned off by the unwillingness of the front desk staff to provide assistance. We finally was able to speak with a sales associate and received a rushed tour because they had a more important client to prepare for. Will never spend a dime in this place
Ripped wallpaper in the elevators and others where its definitely peeling and bubbling off the walls. The elevator also doesnt meet the ground level correctly and leaves a ledge. Not wheelchair safe. The day we left, we used the stairs bc the elevator wouldnt come to the 3rd floor. We waited 6 minutes before taking the stairs. The fake white leather is peeling off the lobby furniture. The roots are growing through the pool side walk ways causing many pavers to rise up. Again not safe. Cigarette butts all over the bushes and pool shrubs left and never picked up. Trash in the parking lots left for over 3 days. Gum on the door frames to the rooms. Shower water is WAY too hot and doesnt regulate. Ripped curtains in the window. The thermostat would not adjust from 75 degrees. Microwave in room no mini fridge. Coffee maker no cups. Ice bucket no glasses. Rooms not available until 4pm. When we reserved a king suite and pre paid a week in advance we got moved to a different room bc someone extended their stay? Then why make a reservation and accept our payment. And still try to charge me the same price. Then still charge my card an additional charge for the change? Not good policy.
Positive: Front desk staff was quick, polite, and helpful. The bed was comfortable. Negative: The pool was very, very dirty. Maybe the filter was broken? I would have stayed elsewhere if I had known. For the star level I believe there was too much damage on the bathroom door and tub and the fan sounded terrible.
Positive: Centrally located to the places I need to go. Female front desk staff was amazing. I can¿t remember her name Negative: The room had a musty odor, no soap, lotion etc. water in shower didn¿t make it pass Luke warm. Male front desk clerk was not professional at times. He treated me okay but notice her was rude to other guest. No luggage cart available at arrival or depa
Positive: Bahama Breeze & TGI Fridays was nearby. Food was good, food staff were awesome. Negative: Where to start - trash all over the parking lot, police cruising through the property on an hourly basis, food debris outside of rooms & in hallway, lobby couches & chairs were worn & actually peeling away, elevators werent working, a gross experience
Positive: The location is great its near shopping, food etc. Negative: The room was outdated, the toilet was stopped up even after they came to unclog it. The TV remote did not work. The carpet and the sofa had some staining. The hotel is older and it shows in some of the small things. For the price its good.
Save your money and go literally anywhere else for a mid tier hotel. Endless stream of problems. My wife and I stayed here for a week unfortunately and the problems never stopped.First, service at the front desk was wildly incompetent. We requested fresh towels and had to call 7 times before I just went to a room service employee and just asked for one.Second, wifi is the worst network Ive ever connected to, if you have work to get done, plan on forfeiting it.
Positive: Location Negative: When entering the room, I noticed water dripping from bathroom fixture. I called down stairs to report and was told that was the only room they had. After quick discussion, I was moved to another room, where upon entering the TV didnt work, no apology
READ IN ITS ENTIRETY TO SEE WHATS HAPPENING AT SONESTA THESE DAYS!My husband and I are currently staying here for our last night but I could not resist writing my review before we left. The location of this hotel is amazing! But that is about all that is amazing about this hotel. The lobby area is nice and inviting but the staff is not. The hotel has a gift shop that is halfway stocked. We checked in on Friday. After getting our room key, we stepped into an elevator that made us very uneasy. The elevator looked like it had been torn apart: the doors stayed cracked open after closing, the emergency phone box was open, one of the ceiling tiles was pushed up, and that is just to name a few major things, but we had to use it because we are on the 17th floor. I tried looking for the Elevator Inspection Certificate card to see if it was safe but there was not one to be found. Before leaving the room this morning, we asked Room Service for more towels and new bed sheets. When we came back to the hotel tonight, we were greeted at the elevators by a long line because there is only ONE WORKING elevator. I looked for an Elevator Inspection Certificate card in this elevator and I FOUND ONE! The elevator had not been inspected since October 2020 and was due for another one in October 2021 (which is probably why all of the elevators are in need of servicing). When we got to the room, we could see that Room Service did not meet any of our requests. We called the front desk to get more sheets brought up to us and Bhatti at the front desk was very dismissive of us and told us to come down (17 FLOORS with 1 WORKING elevator) to get our own towels and sheets. As I was getting off of the elevator, I saw two other guests doing the same thing because room service never serviced their rooms.NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS FUN...As I waited 15 minutes for the elevator, I was talking to other guests and learned that people got stuck in one of the broken elevators on Thursday causing someone to hurt their hip. Apparently, there is new management that is simply just not handling things appropriately. Will NOT be staying here again and I do NOT and will NOT recommend Sonesta to anyone else. They should be giving guests discounts to stay here.
This is NOT a 3 star (3.5 stars on some websites). We read the reviews before coming and thought it might’ve been a fluke about not having hot water… it’s true, lukewarm water no matter what time of day you try and take a shower. Rooms were dirty. Not equipped with any soaps or extras besides what was was strapped on the shower wall. Ice machine was broken. There were lines of people waiting in the lobby for elevators that didn’t appear to work. When we called direct number to book the room, we were given a price of $250/nt, searched on Google and found a price cheaper so they honored it, found another deal on the way to the hotel that was $109/nt AND included free breakfast. This hotel is a 2 star AT BEST. It needs an overhaul and makeover. Water damage on restaurant walls. Carpets in rooms are dirty, need to be switched out to tile especially in a day where cleanliness is so important.
Positive: Location. Negative: There was no soap where the sink was. They expect you to reach into the shower and use the soap dispenser. There was no ice machine where signs directed you. You had to traverse t a complete different part to ask for ice. Cup were not in the room for us
I am a regular customer here. But this is the second time they have messed up my reservation. The guy in front desk is not helpful at all and have bad attitude. He could not find my reservation and let me wait for long time. He just kept checking in other customers. Really disappointed !
Positive: This hotel is extremely conveniently located. Negative: the on property restaurant was closed. Front door broken/off track for hours when we arrived. Room smelled musty. AC NOT Working in the room, even after service visit to the room. We moved to another hotel for the rest of our stay.
For events this hotel really needs to step its game up. There was people looking for parking all over the place there wasnt any available because they have the parking garage closed. Next the bathrooms are not maintained really. All the tissue and paper towel dispensers are usually empty mid way through any event I come to.
We’ve just checked out from this hotel after being very poorly treated by the hotel’s staff. It was 7:30am this morning that we found out the room had no blow hair dryer. As we had to go out before 8 am, I came down to the front desk to get a hair dryer ASAP. The front desk staff said we need to wait until 8 am so we had to delay our schedule and waited in the room.My wife called them around 8:10am, but no one came until 8:30am. So, I called the front desk again, and she transferred the call to Ms. Tonya, the housekeeping director(?). She said there was one hair dryer for us, but she had ‘NO ONE TO DELIVER IT TO US UNTIL 9 am!’ I explained we needed to go out as soon as possible, but she said the same and even HUNG UP on me when I was trying to speak. What an attitude! My family’s morning plan was already messed up at that point, and at 8:35 am Tonya suddenly brought the hair dryer to our room herself. From her, I was expecting something like “sorry for the inconvenience”, but that never happened. I told her she could have brought it to us earlier, but she never looked understanding and was upset that she had to bring the hair dryer herself, emphasizing she is not a housekeeper. She also told me that she didn’t want to talk with me any more on this, saying “So do you want this or not?”, trying to take the hair dryer box back from my hand!!! I lost my word with her attitude. It seemed like I was with an angry boss! Is this something real that can happen to a hotel guest?I cancelled my second night and checked out. All this made my family’s vacation unpleasant, and I also need to take time to contact the reservation website where I paid, to get the refund.
I dont know whats happend to the hotel since I had the last visit 3 years ago. It was well kept and managed with full of people. My family visited three times over the many years and always chose Sonesta withuot hesitation. But this time, I just knew as soon as I entered the main door that something has changed a lot. Everything was falling apart here and there, the response from the front desk was way too slow(not even answering the calls). Too many to write down here. I am totally done with this hotel.
The building, room, and accessibility reveal nothing of the poor quality of this hotel. One would assume that it is worth the 100-and-so dollars of the booking. However, once inside, anything but a superficial glance will reveal the cracks in the facade. First, I was made to wait approximately 15 minutes as the two labored over a single computer helping the single guest at the desk. Unsurprisingly a large queue formed behind me. The customer service was quick and concise when I was seen which begs the question of why the rest of the queue and I had been made to wait; surely they could have, in a sense, compartamenalized that issue with the previous guest. The room is spacious and afforded a view over the road and strip malls surrounding it. The bed well made. However, I found little black bugs all over the bathroom tub and in some of the towels and linens. Not bed bugs, they call these weevils back home. Regardless, they are a pest nonetheless. The following morning I came down to grab breakfeast at the buffet, but there was no one attending nor any signage. Rather than bother the front desk I went about serving myself until, as I was nearly done and leaving, a worker came out and began berating me. Apparently we were not supposed to serve ourselves. Furthermore, apparently breakfeast was only complimentary for those who book suites. The food was definitely not worth the 15 dollar bill. The front desk also did not seem at all preoccupied with the pests in the room which seems to me to imply that this is not rare and, likely, not ever taken care of.
The only reason this even gets a two is they have amazing staff, on the front end & in cleaning the rooms, the bed was also comfortable. But everything else made me wish Id stayed somewhere else. The TV looked like it was from the 80s and had a fuzzy picutre which made it almost impossible to watch the Alabama game, the AC unit rattled like it was going to fall out of the window, & the couch was about as comfortable as solid stone. Oh and the elevators, I think they were from the 80s too, incredibly, just incredibly slow. I pretty much had to plan an extra 15 minutes if I had to go somewhere or hoof it down 4 flights of stairs. The second night there was a party in one of the rooms and I couldnt get to sleep till 7 in the morning
They do not clean the room well, they hold $50/day that you are staying. It takes 14business days for them to release the hold. My bank stated they would release the hold if I got a letter from the hotel stating my balance was fulfilled. When I tried contacting the accounting department, I was ignored, asked to leave a voicemail and there was no call back. I called and the front desk attendant said they accountant was present in the office and shes not sure why they werent picking up the call she transferred. The front desk even took my name a number to give to the accounting department...still no call back!
Checked in on a Saturday. Only 1 elevator working! Staff was friendly and accomadating by escorting guests to their rooms by way of the service elevator but not professional at all. Most wait times to use regular elevator was 15 minutes or more. Hubby and I were on 16th floor. No information given about restaurants in hotel, such as open, close times. No menus in rooms. Housekeeping was non existent. We had to call for clean towels, kleenex, and bathroom tissue. Not once did housekeeping even knock on our door to clean room for a 5 day 4 night stay. When checking out spoke with front desk clerk expressing my concerns and asked for a discount on room. Was told she needed to have her manager look into it because we paid thru Expedia. No discount as of yet. Will be staying somewhere else for next trip.
Overall our stay was nice, not too much noise either. Parking was a bit of a hassle. They get filled up pretty quickly so make sure you get back earlier rather than later. The room was clean but the AC definitely needs to get fixed we barely got any air circulation. It was on a low of 65 but it was still really humid.Bathroom and room was neat. Our room overlooked the pool. We even had time to tan by the pool for a couple hours outside. It was nice and quite. We did bring our own towels just in case. Not a bad stay for the price we paid!
The bed was very comfortable. I thought I was sleeping on a Marriott bed. However, I was disappointed with the operations of the place. The lobby area and the area around the elevators were not kept clean, especially with the amount of traffic during the weekend. Only two out of the four elevators were working. That did not make sense for a weekend with a full house.
For some reason my review was deleted!! So I’m going to repost it again! I got a hotel room at this location for a wedding gift for my sister after her wedding night because it was close to her Venue!! I’m very disappointed, disgusted and embarrassed to have gifted my sister something and it be ruined!! I was awaken by a phone call from my sister at 3am stating she had to leave the room because she was getting bit and when she turned on the light, indeed she was getting bit by BED BUGS!! She sent me pictures and with me working in a Five Star Hotel as a Housekeeping Manager I know this is not acceptable!!! It was HORRIBLE they wedding night was ruined but my sister has to walk around with bed bug bites!!!!
So o checked in for my sisters wedding block. My cousin didn’t stay their because she read the reviews but I thought I’d give it a chance bc i work in the hospitality business. The rooms had mold, the shower look dirty, and one of the staff is lazy. The first couple of days I asked for clean towels and blankets and the guy that does night audit was great. My last stay the lady at the front desk was very rude and lazy I asked her for the same towels and blankets (because ours was stained) she informed me everything was washing. For me working at a hotel there should be no time that there NOTHING ! Unacceptable! I really feel she was lazy and just be on her phone at the front desk as well with locking all the doors where we can use our key room key to get in I had to go through the front. As manager I would fire her ASAP she was unapologetic no remorse just rude and lazy.
Hotel itself is nice. Was impressed with my king bed suite. Spacious and clean. Hot tub was out of order but pool was nice to have. Main complaint is the website clearly states the deposit is 100 dollars PER STAY but front desk lady Cecil argued and belittled me in front of others stating it’s 100 PER NIGHT. So someone staying for a week would need hotel cost plus 700 deposit!!! Absolutely absurd and it’s wrong.
We arrived and checked in. We booked as a family and wanted rooms near each other. We booked 3 king rooms and were given 1 king and 2 double full rooms, yes they were near each other but not what was reserved. As I enter our room we were greeted with the worst smell of urine and cigar smoke. The front desk was slightly helpful when I called down about the room. When I arrived at the front desk to get out new room keys I asked that we still be near our family and told I could keep the room that smelled or go to the other end of the hall. I am appalled, this is the worst service I have ever had at a hotel and if I could find somewhere else to stay I would. I don’t not recommend staying here. $300 is a lot of money to spent somewhere that you don’t feel welcomed or accommodated.
I’ve stayed at this particular hotel numerous times for business and on my current stay, ive had to change rooms twice already and this is just the first night. The first room reeked of urine. The second room had dirty towels in the bathroom, missing trashcan and some sort goo on the wall. Very disappointed as our stays are usual top notch.
This was terrrible place to stay. It smelled like cigarettes it was an old bathroom old television the elevator was nasty and they charged 169 a night. Definitely a 2 star hotel it looked like it used to be an apartment. The people wear nice but it definitely was a motel I should’ve have went to the Hilton
Honestly I wish 0 stars was an option. Not even trying to be rude but do better. To start off the hotel was nothing like the pictures. The pool was disgusting, the walls had stains on them, Their were bugs everywhere especially by the vent. They clean very poorly. I could go on all day about how disgusting this hotel is. Don’t let these pictures fool you don’t waste your money coming here you might as well go to a motel.
I will never stay at this hotel again, and the only reason this got one star is because zero wasn’t an option! When I got to the room it was nothing like what was shown on the internet and it was basically unable to be used fully. There were no wash clothes, no remote for the TV, the thermostat didn’t work, and the bathrooms weren’t cleaned fully. I attempted to call the front desk several times, no one answered. I didn’t even unpack, I grabbed my things and went to the front and there were not one but three associates at the desk, meaning someone could have answered my call. I felt like I was being ignored and when I expressed my concern with the room the staff didn’t show any empathy, they were dry and nonchalant. Quite frankly I asked for a refund and immediately left the facility. I left so quickly that I forgot to ask for a confirmation that my refund would be sent back to me. The next morning, I called the front desk asking if I could get a confirmation of refund emailed to me. I was on hold for over thirty minutes, I then called the front desk from another phone while still on hold on my personal phone. The staff immediately picks up, I inform her that I’m still on hold on the other line and just need her to do something simple. She then states, “There was a line in front of me, let me finish with him and I’ll send it.” She then instantly states “Ok, I sent it.” As if she were rushing me off the phone. I say ok and I check my email, it hadn’t sent yet. So I wait a few minutes, it’s still not sent. Fast forward to three days later, I still have no confirmation of refund, nor has my refund deposited back into account, granted I know it may take a few days, but still the rest is unacceptable. I will make sure to tell my family, friends, strangers, and whomever else to stay far away from this unprofessional and misleading place. I am truly disappointed.
Not impressed. This hotel is in a bad need of an update. Very run down feeling. Elevators are janky. Some buttons on some of the elevators for some of the floors didnt work. The rooms arent terrible, but theyre just old enough that I dont think they can ever appear or feel clean. The air conditioner cannot keep the rooms cool. Im from the south and Im used to the heat. I feel bad for guests staying here from the north that arent used to southern heat. The room feels damp because the air conditioner couldnt dehumidify the air effectively. Mildew or mold grew in the bathroom during my stay; it wasnt there when I checked in, but it was when I left. Check in and check out experiences were not pleasant. Until this hotel gets remodeled, I wont be back and recommend finding another place to stay.
I am very dissatisfied with my stay and will never stay at this location again. I was suppose to stay for 3 nights but I checked out after only the first night. After returning to my room on the first night, room 410, the floor was soaking wet luckily I left none of my belongings on the floor. I was then moved to room 602 which was just as bad. The tub was leaking, the room had a bad odor, and the fixtures falling apart. I was also moved from a king room to a double bed with no compensation and barely an apology. The next day I was told the hotel was sold out and unfortunately there was nothing that could be done.
It was priced adequately as we needed something last minute when our air conditioning went out. HOWEVER, I’ve stayed in nicer cheaper hotels.1. The shower water hurts, HURTS. My skin is irritated and it did not drain (this is a Covid no no)2. My poor skin was then irritated even more by the rough ROUGH sheets. They make swishy sounds when you move in them. The comforters are so thin that I had to request a blanket. Then I got a a hospital blanket.3. There are only two vending machines and neither of them work4. My college mattress was more comfortable. This is the cheapest spring mattress I’ve ever felt in my lifeAfter the awful issue of having to leave my home last minute, this experience was far from relaxing or even decent enough to rest for the night.
The front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating. The cleanliness of the rooms was below average. There was inches of dust on the AC vent, the AC would not cool the room properly and there was left over caked on soap/shampoo on the shower handle from the dispensers above it. You also have e to request an ice bucket, microwave, or any other amenity they offer since they are not currently kept in the rooms
Well lets start with the good stuff:There is lots of parking, the lobby was modern, overall place was clean and they helped me change the name on the reservation for check-in when i had flight delays and would not make the check in window. Now for the other stuff:The front desk staff was not pleasant or helpful in expediting my basic requests for a microwave. There were multiple issues with the room:-red stain on carpet-refrigerator did not work almost spoiling our groceries- a new one was added tot he room upon request-the room had an ironing board but no iron.We had to request it at the front desk. When given to us it was tooted as a new iron but upon use we realized the cord was stripped and sparked during use. This is dangerous.-We requested a microwave in the room 2 days prior to arrival and was told one would be provided. We continued to ask daily from the day and night staff and one was finally provided on day 4 of my 8 night day. This is unacceptable and we were continuously fed lies that one would be provided shortly-One of elevator would not level when it arrived at a floor and the door opened. I almost fell when coming off as it stopped about 4inches higher than the floor level. This is dangerous. The elevator company arrived upon my check out (8 days later) as others complained of getting stuck, it not leveling etc).-No room cleaning was provided. When we called on day 3 to inquire, we were told we had to request cleaning. I understand this procedure with Covid but this information should have been shared upon check-in. When housekeeping did come, no fresh towels or wash clothes were provided and we were told we had to go to the front desk to request those. Never in my life had i had to request toiletries AFTER the room was cleaned because none was provided.-Despite the photos, the pool deck area was not that great. Its clean but could use a facelift. It didnt match the aesthetics of the rest of the hotel.I had high hopes for this hotel but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations for my vacation.
Staff was okay. Not rude but not great either. They did the bare minimum.First room had ANTS. They moved us but second room which was a joining room (even though we did NOT reserve that kind of room) the people next door was a very noisy family. Very thin doors!Every morning the person would yell and talk loudly for HOURS we even called front desk thinking they were yelling outside our door… it was awful. And yes I was even wearing ear plugs….After multiple noise complaints nothing was done for us.I was emailed by “Director of rooms” and questioned about my situations saying no staff recalled us moving rooms due to ANTS or noise complaints…. I provided photos and names of staff I spoke with. I haven’t heard from the Director since. So not only is their service below standards they do not care about customers enough to fix horrible situations.
My family stay here a few time already. And each time it seem like it got worse. Just let me start with the room. Pillow case got stain on it. Restroom are old and out of date. But the worse part is each time we stay here it seem like it become a party hotel. Peoples have there music on blast. Plus they smoking weed and drinking in theirs room even when it against hotel policy. Security come by to ask them to come down but it seem like they don’t even care. Overall this will be my last time staying here and do not recommend anyone to with a family to stay here.
I came here for business what a big mistake. The Hotel check me out early from my check out date it was a battle just for them to fix it. Hotel room has very basic furniture nothing fancy feels old. The walls are very thin you can hear everything that people next to you are doing and talking about. Every room doors slam pretty hard so when your trying sleep and someone opens or closes the room door you can hear it and feel it as it rattles the whole room.for the 4 days I had stayed housekeeping never came by. Never again will I stay at this hotel again or recommend anyone from my company or clients to stay here.
The Sonesta used to be our go-to for a local get out of the house getaway. The bar was nice with a pool table rarely used so we could always play and the appetizers were great. Welllllll..... all good things must come to an end I guess. It seems Covid took its toll here. The bar/restaurant is socially distanced with few tables and closes at 9pm. The pool table area is all blocked off and the menu is not as good. Thank goodness Barbara is still bartender and serving food! Shes great! The hotel staff was nice enough but they were having a hard time with baseball teams checked in for a tournament, it was a nightmare! Lucky for us we checked in early, went to dinner downtown and returned. The main issue was only one elevator worked and you couldnt use the stairs! When we arrived there was an elevator that actually was stuck and full of people (read kids)! They were packing elevators even though there were signs clearly stating only a few people at a time. We finally got to our floor and apparently the carpets were soaked (never found out why) and there were industrial fans on drying them. Got to our room and there was where you could really tell the maintenance has escaped them. You can see in our photos the walls had dents in them that were just painted over, leaks had been poorly repaired and covered, the door looked like it had been pried open at some point, the towel rack was bent down so that the towels were falling off (I fixed it), the curtains were not attachedall the way so we had to rig them to stay closed, and one of the outlets on the lamps pulled right out!.... also, the AC did not get cold, luckily we brought a fan. SO, that being said I doubt we will go back for a while and see if they can recover. We will however go to the bar and visit with Barbara from time to time.
Pros: Shower water was extremely hot like I liked it. Great location! Staff was pretty nice when I arrived… Checkout at 12Cons:The bed had stains. I was in an adjoining room (I didnt request one) wasnt told that the room would be ajoined. The people next to me snorted powder from 10ish until they passed out!! Super loud music played all night. I had to turn my tv atw up to attempt to silence them. In and out the room they went door slammed. I went to sleep about 6am-ish. checkout was at 12:00 by 9am they were up blowing their nose constantly! Its outdated also.8/11/21Dear Owner,I appreciate you replying. Im open to options. We pay too much money to not be able to rest due to the doors constantly slamming, loud guests and the rooms not being cleaned. What are your plans to make things right?
Positive: Found a great rate for the weekend. Negative: This was a nice 3-1/2 star hotel 30 years ago when it was a Marriott and the area was still decent. Now it reminds me of that old rundown shopping mall that nobody goes to anymore in the nasty part of town. Avoid this hotel and avoid this area.
My experience was fantastic. There was an episode where there was a fight in the room next door but I called the front desk and it quieted down. It was a quiet room, a comfortable bed, clean bathroom. I stayed there for a week and the refrigerator was nice and large and their was a very good coffee machine. It was lovely. The only negative was the lack of microwave which is rough when staying there so long!
The room we had 1620 looked like it had water damage previously in the bathroom. The sink fixture was super old, the ceiling had 4 layers of brown/black dust hanging from it, the curtains were shredded & dirty as if a cat slid down them with its claws out. There was hair on & in the linens, the lamp shade was all broken up. But yet the room had a sanitized sticker on the door. sonesta is usually the more upscale 4 star hotel..but I’d give this location 1 star based on my room (1620). There was an Amazon convention also, so no other rooms were available. The lobby area looked so high end tho! Major disappointment..a waste of $129 plus tax @ $60 deposit. It seemed like motel six honestly
Such a nice hotel. Its clean and they are practicing covid restrictions. Our room was huge, clean, and quiet. The bed was comfortable and we slept very soundly.. We were very pleasantly surprised as some of the reviews had complained about things. We will be back Sonesta and thank you for a pleasant stay
Hallways and elevators smell like weed and cigarette smoke. Only one elevator in our hall was working. Carpeting in hallways was in very rough condition. Our room had ants, the dishwasher would not dry our dishes.Needs updating severely. Cigarette butts were everywhere outside and the grass around the entrances was non-existent because of smokers wearing it down. The pillows and towels are nice and the bedroom was very quiet.
Attention! The people who think about staying this hotel. You are NOT welcome unless you are the members of Amazon (yes, that Amazon). The main entrance is blocked by reception of the Amazon exhibition. The regular customers like you, will have to pull the heavy side door with your hands and enter the building even you have suitcases or carrying personal staffs on your shoulders. Theres no enough cart available at main entrance area. (Maybe Amazon using). Again they dont care regular customers. Amazon only!
Hotel is looks nice from the outside and all the way up to the lobby. The room I stayed in looked very outdated with popcorn ceilings and dull yellow paint along with the fixtures in the room . I think for the price they are charging per night stay they should spend some money and update the guest rooms. I stayed on the 11th floor and had a nice view of their pool area. But overall the staff was very accommodating and practicing all Covid-19 protocols.
I’m writing this review at 5:00 AM because we are being kept up by loud neighbors that we share a wall with. Seriously, I don’t know what the other rooms are like, but we would get better sound insulation from printer paper than what our shared wall provides. We called the front desk twice. Once at 3am and again and 4am. The second time the guard joined in on the fun, and we even heard him radio back down saying there was no loud noises coming from that room, then proceeded to join in on the singing and laughing with the occupants. At 4am. Not to mention that we haven’t had room service come in since we arrived here 3 days ago, despite our requests. Our towel rack broke off at the slightest touch which they haven’t fixed and the kitchen sink doesn’t drain properly. All of which we brought to the front desks attention but has not been resolved.
This was the worst experience I ever had at any hotel I reserved a three night stay and they checked me out after the first night and not only that they charged an extra $300 to my card and no one can tell me why in an effort to make amends for the extra charge they advised that my stay would be comped and fees would be returned three days later I still have one pending charge for $300 and they charge me an additional $130 after calling the property multiple times to speak with the general manager the only help he could provide was for me to call my bank with him on the line. TERRIBLE!!!
It was too many issues from the time we got there. First room the pillow cases were dirty, so we changed rooms I booked through booking and I thought I was getting a suit but that didnt happen. Once we changed rooms it was clean but my sister & I didnt have any Cold water. I called around 6am to complain the desk offered to change our room again or wait til 8 when Maintenance came in,so I did but no one ever came. I called again than the elevators wasnt working only one and we got stuck on it. I wouldnt stay here ever again . The only good review is Ms. Farlena Neal..Ill give her 5stars for helping me.
The check in was alright. The person could not understand that i wanted to pay for the late check out for 2 rooms. The problem started at 9:30am day of check out. Which a payment for late check out at 2. Well my room was deactivated at 12, while we were in the pool. But the worst part is being harassed from 9:30 am until we actually checked out. Worst stay ever.
Positive: The room was well appointed and could be a 4 star just based on the room alone. Negative: Phone didn¿t work and they did not fix it. Elevators were slow, as they only had 2 running in the main lobby. They didn¿t mention a second bay of elevators around the corner and way down the hall, until the line got way backed up one evening.
Awful! Run do not pass go to collect 50 because you will collect roaches instead. We planned to stay the weekend but when we arrived at 1 am we found roaches in the bathroom. We got up to find live roaches. Needless to say we got the hell out of dodge and the Hampton Inn down the street was way cleaner!
Extremely disappointing. My family and I decided to stay here for a vacation, and when we got there. For starters, their computers were down when we arrived so we were unable to receive our original room. We were meant to stay for a total of 3 days however with how DISGUSTING and APPALLING the room they initially put us in was. We couldn’t take it and had to relocate to a better hotel. When we called and asked about possible refunds or help on fixing our hotel stay. They declined to help or their manager was “out of office” when it would be 2pm. Extremely unpleased and utterly ashamed that this place is allowed to be open.
It’s only a two star because our room was clean. That being said, we only received two BODY towels for a double deluxe room. We had to go ask for towels and the gentleman down at the desk (Ryan?) kinda insinuated that if we gave the room number he would be able to get us towels because they had none to give us at this time. I was confused but waited. I called and he was VERY rude. I told him to go ahead and cancel our request. Going back down would not have been a problem if I was notified. My other complaint was that when I booked, I spoke to a representative and they never mentioned their Covid precautions. Which is fine that they have them but know that NOTHING is open except their mini store and the pool which is useless because it’s cold. There is no housekeeping for stay overs. None of this was brought up, even when I mentioned the hot tub to the representative. Conclusion: it’s 20% off because they can’t clean stay-overs, the only available amenity is their mini souvenir shop, and the bathroom was supposed to be stocked with hand towels and a mat. I’m glad their taking precautions to Covid but I would like to be notified.Nice location. But I would stay somewhere else.
Positive: The location was very convenient to food, gas and interstate access. About 15 -20 min to downtown Atlanta and 30 min to Lake Lanier. Negative: Some of the elevators were down which required increased wait time and increased risk for families to share a ride on the elevator. This increased COVID exposure risk. On check out I waited patiently in line. Checking could be more streamlined.
Friendly and accommodating front desk. The room was HUGE and well appointed. I wish I could have stayed more than one night. The bed was very very comfortable, not too hard or too soft. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. A fantastic one day vacation. My suggestion is bring late night snacks. (I got back from a concert after the gift shop closed and room service ended for the night.)
The room that was described to me was not at all deluxe or nice! I had to clean it, the covers were torn and there was mold on the wall. I paid the same price listed for an ES suite and got a dump for a room. None of the pictures on the site even come close to the outdated and unconventional room I actually stayed in. I have pictures proving this! I was very unhappy and misled with prices and actual accommodations. On top of that I was over charged on my credit card by $100 difference from my receipt. I was overwhelmed and chose Sonesta as a relaxing stay and instead had a trashy experience. I visited Once when inquiring about an event space was shown totally different rooms! I don’t know what was revamped, but it wasn’t room 416! The multi socket was broken and I was told they all were broken, so no space to set up my laptop besides the bed! Where was the microwave? They brought one up! I now have a stress rash and lost of money. I can say best customer service team though! This was beyond their control. Everyone was respectful and professional. PS. The sofa bed had trash in it and crumbs and there was no sheet/ blanket included. We asked and got a thin blanket only, and decided to just share the bed. Sonesta lobby is absolutely beautiful and that’s about it! I am definitely going to cancel my travel pass membership! I’m sure they don’t give a hoot, cause who maintains a set of rooms this way? I’m sure you are aware. I’d better stick with Hilton Honors!Respectfully Submitted,G Hooks
Long story short as I will post another review publicly with pics. The manager s that I spoke with were great. I requested extra linen, first night I got snail service, I had to call again and I received it6.5 hours later, the second night because the way the comforters down feathers looked like moldy on the inside, I spoke with the manager and she asked hou se cleaning to bring 2 more( 3pm) , I returned about10 pm I received only one my sister was annoyed, she called them back and was told they dont have service after 5pm ( mind you this happened the night before, and I received it at 10:55pm).They told her she would have to come down and retrieve them herself...why? When it was requested at 3!! When I tried to call guest services back , they would not answer! I was tired and exhausted already from my ordeal! Suffice to say , I always leave a tip in my room, NOT THIS TIME AND THIS WAS A FIRST! I have stayed in 3 hotels within the last 4 mos.I will at least acknowledge the grapevine ( were breakfast) grab and go) the staff were very nice and the breakfast was great. First impressions are a lasting one....I will have to think twice about Sonesta Extended stay...I was in room 633...the room
Me And My Family We’re In Room 504 This Past Week , Our Stay Could’ve Been Better ! For Starters Our Fridge Was Not Cold At All We Had To Call The Front Desk 3 Times About It Finally Our 3rd Time We Got A Cold Fridge But It Was Extremely Too Cold And It Froze Our Food . Secondly House Keeping Was Horrible. We Called Before We Left Out For The Day For Our Beds To Get Made Up And Room Cleaned In General They Never Came . Calling Down To The Front Desk Was A Complete Waste Of Time . You’ll Literally Be Waiting For Towels And No One Will Ever Show Up ! Then We Went Down For Breakfast And They Said It Wasnt Included In Our “Package” Which Was Crazy To Us Because That Was One Of The Reasons We Booked This Specific Hotel . So Much For A DELUXE SUITE . Only Thing That Was Nice And Eye Catching Was The Beautiful Lobby . We Paid Over $1100 For Our Stay At This Hotel And We We’re Not Satisfied Over All I’ll Give This A 3 Out Of 10 Most Definitely Would NOT Come Back !!!
The rooms were okay. The bathroom had rusty towel fixtures. We booked here under the assumption that it was locally situated amongst a lot of things and the plus was that they have a shuttle. unfortunately the dont use the shuttle for guest anymore only ones with a business contact. What kind of mess is that? Definitely did not meet my expectations at all.
The whirlpool was roped off and junky. It looked like a crime scene. The area around the pool and the pool itself was dirty and looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned. There was hair, leaves, and dead insects in the INDOOR pool. My first room, all the dresser knobs were broken so I had to be transferred to another room. Twice I came back to my second room and it smelled of strong weed. The table leg of the desk was broken and wobbly so I had to use napkins to stabilize the desk so I could work. I couldn’t get any work done during the day due to loud screaming guests. Staff and guests were not asked to wear masks even though the hotel had signs posted everywhere that said mask were required in all public space. Due to my immune deficiency I had to to get off the elevator and take the steps several times due to guests and staff not wearing masks. The parking lot was filled with trash like people were getting out of their cars and dumping their food and trash on the concrete. Horrible experience. The staff at the front desk were very kind though. That was the only bright spot of my entire stay.
Nice place to stay. Comfortable and clean but several issues with the room. Had to call twice for a working refrigerator, no microwave in room, no ice bucket in room, many ice machines not working. Had to go three flights down for ice. No staff assistance with luggage at check in / check out.
We arrived at the hotel and everything appeared to be as expected. The lobby was clean and the service was good. We were given the keys to our room and when we arrived we shocked with how poor of a condition the room was. It looked nothing like advertised online. Our room smelled heavily of body odor and old food. The carpet was disgusting and the hall was littered with garbage. We decided that we couldnt stay at this hotel and left. This was definitely the biggest advertising bait and switch Ive ever seen.
The room that was described to me and the images online were not what we got. The room itself was clean but it was so small. I had to go down three times because my keys to the room would not work, every time I had to use the elevator it would take at least 5 mins to get on one. It took me 35 mins after check in to finally get into my room. They definitely need more elevators for the size of the property. Not sure I would stay here again, I could probably get a better room for the same price elsewhere.
This is by far the worst experience at a hotel that I have had in a long time. The front desk staff at check in was very friendly and professional but other than that, it was terrible. There was so much trash out front and in the lobby. The elevator remained nasty throughout the entire weekend. We reported the concern to the front desk but nothing was ever done about it. They are definitely not following CDC guidelines regarding COVID. The room was ok, but could have been better. Wires we’re hanging from where the smoke detector was suppose to be. Someone from another room across the hall put trash outside their door and it stayed there for the entire day. We will never stay here again!
I absolutely love my stay here. The rooms are very clean and bug free! It feels like home away from home. If I could live here I would. My only complaints are that the cable goes in and out and some channels dont work. Also, the walls are very thin. Im lying in bed right now at 1:40am and I can hear the man in the room next to my room snoring.Other than that, I love this place!
Positive: The best thing was the fact of the free breakfast which was accommodating especially when you have your kids with you. Another reason is because all the restaurants stores were surrounding the hotel which made it easier for us to be able to have options Negative: No all was well
No breakfast included. Not in a good area. Between Norcross and the Duluth location, Ive been cheated out of $132. Ill never stay at Sonesta again and will warn everyone I know about Sonesta. I was forced to the Norcross hotel by Sonesta-Duluth, which I had chosen for the three beds in one room, the good price, and the proximity to our meetings. I ended up getting none of these things, even though I pleaded for 24 hours, making several phone calls to both hotels, and supposedly being rejected by management, though I was never permitted to speak to this management. The claim from Sonesta-Duluth was that they had to move us due to a maintenance issue on their end. Their issue should have been their responsibility. Not only did they punish me for their own issue, but they refused to adequately provide what I had paid for. I registered for 2 doubles+guestroom at Duluth. Our room was $155, tax-included, for 3 unrelated men, needing three beds. They moved us to Norcross (20 minutes away from our meetings, instead of 2 minutes away), but only covered one room with 2 queens. We needed an extra bed, which Norcross didnt have except for in another room, and which Duluth refused to pay for. Norcross charged me $132 for this extra room, making my total $287 instead of $155. This is outrageous. Sonesta should be ashamed. If I can find the time, I will do what I can to connect with Sonesta Duluth management and obtain my just compensation. But my time is valuable (which is why the extra 40 minutes roundtrip to the meeting is also outrageous). They should have had me purchase my own 3 beds as near as possible to the meeting, and had me turn in the receipts for reimbursement. Sonesta is an embarrassment to the hospitality industry.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. I told Nehemiah the front desk guy it was my wifes birthday. Later on that night my wife and I returned to our room we had a happy birthday cheesecake on our room.Great rooms, great beds, great food, and great staff. Nehemiah and Rick are the best front desk guys ever. The Art Bar restaurant had great staff and the environment in the restaurant was awesome. We love to make this hotel a great get away spot for us again!
Is sad to say this. Me and my family have been staying at sonesta since 2011 this past week was the last time. Our room wasnt clean properly the shower had mold, i have 2 kids and a baby i wasnt going to shower my kids in this condition. Inhad to.clean the restroom, we found something under the sheets plus when we check in I request a crib for my baby, they never brought it I call twice and they had told me that the housekeepers where told to bring it but never showed up.
Really upset over the amount of money I paid for a king deluxe room that looks like any other cheap hotel room. Can’t get the shower to run hot water and furniture and linens are worn and in some cases torn or destroyed. Underwhelming and not worth it if you’re trying to rent something more upscale. Really wish I could have turned around and left after seeing my room.
My room wasn’t bad (nothing like the photos on the website) but the first night I had noisy neighbors however, security came up to address. The second night there was a banging noise that woke me up at 1:30a and both nights an iPhone alarm went off at exactly 2:20a, so no sleep. The young lady at the front desk in the mornings, as well as Jessica (Director of housekeeping) was less than pleasant. I asked for the manager Brett to call me back a couple times with concerns and I have yet to receive a phone call. Leadership sets the tone even though, other staff encounters have been very pleasant. I still have 2 nights left, pray for me. I would not choose to stay here again.
At one time the hotel was probably very nice, but the facility is fairly old and needs updating. The 2 double bed rooms are pretty tight quarters, but perfectly fine. Bathrooms are definitely dated, but toiletries provided were very nice. Shampoo, conditioner, and body gel were is dispensers in the shower. Fitness Center was pretty decent but several pieces of equipment werent working. Bar/restaurant was contemporary and while we did not eat there, multiple people from our group did and said it was good. Calamari looked fantastic. Lobby area was huge with nice couches. A couple of people from our group were in the annex and did not have hot water, but we had no problem with that. Overall what we got for the price was excellent.
I stayed at this hotel 1/18/2020. It’s an upscale feel for the money. The lobby has modern decor. All the employees I care into contact with were friendly an helpful. The room had a balcony that was a decent view. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean an cozy. The bathroom was nice the shower was relaxing an the bathtub was even more heavenly. I would have given 5 stars but the tv pixilated a lot on a few channels. An worst of all is the parking lot is really small. They have a parking garage but is not that convenient. Also be prepared there is no microwave or refrigerator in the room. But other than that I would stay here again. Great location and amenities for the price.
Horrible, trashy, moldy, unsanitary, insect(ladybug) infestation, unfriendly staff, no clean towels in entire hotel, guests had to wash our own towels, no hot water, sketchy room attendants, personal items came up missing, by for the worst experience in hotel history. Definitely will be having a long conversation with corporate.
Ive stayed here 2 different times and both times were great. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are always clean, and the restaurant/bar downstairs is great. We would travel down there for Christmas to visit family so we would gather in the bar area at night to gather and hang out. It was great!
I did not stay there, I ended up there by mistake. Let me first say that the outside doesnt do the inside justice. I can only assume the rooms are as nice as the common spaces. The staff was wonderful and accommodating even though I was not a Travel Pass guest. I couldnt wait to come back when I was actually supposed to be there.Today was that day. Same great staff and amenities. I also had dinner at the ArtBar and it was quite tasty.Cant wait to actually spend an evening or two there. 😁
Normally Ive always made great judgement on hotels. This one fooled me terribly. The lobby was nice, but Im confused on the star rating. The room was not anything I expected. Outdated furniture that looked like it came in by goodwill wholesale(if it were such a thing), dirty carpet, tacky curtains. Nothing went together. Im giving the stars because they did have onsite security circling the parking lot premises. The mattress was also comfortable.
Website says jacuzzi tubs and elivated bathrooms but when we paid extra for the king size room on the top floor its just a regular bathroom. Nothing special. Ive stayed at bestwesterns that had better rooms for half the money. This upgraded room doesnt even have a refrigerator and all the amenities offered are all closed at 4 in the afternoon. Such a waste of money.
The Sonesta Gwinnett was host to a Amazon new hire event I attended... The team @ Sonesta Gwinnett was very professional, well organized, knowledgeable, courteous and willing to assist! The Amazon event was posted with clear signs and arrows making access to the Amazon new hire event as easy as A,B,C !!! Respectfully:: Alton K Edwards
We stayed at the suites. Very nice and organized. It felt like a home you can live at. The only problem we received were finding towels that were used still on the floor so it wasnt as clean up as it shouldve been and the air vent, when turning it on to heat, had a strong cigarette smell which made the experience a bit worst. Nice staff and a lot and great breakfast options. Might stayed again if they fix the cigarette smell or put on a higher floor. We were on the T floor room 31. Rooms on these floors doesnt seem that great because of the cigarette smell from the vents and theres lot of slamming of doors makes it very hard to sleep. This floor has a door to the parking lot and it slams very loud.
A wonderful hotel! My overall experience was wonderful. I loved the service and the clean rooms. The pool was the best part in my opinion because they had an indoor and outdoor pool. Also, a jacuzzi which was wonderful! I would love to go back here for another vacation hotel.
Ugh where to start? First the hotel rooms look nothing like advertised I was expecting bright modern furnishings. I walked in and it looked like my grandma had decorated the place to her liking. Also our room barely had hot water, hard bed sheets with stains, and no fridge or microwave. The staff seemed friendly although some stared at my husband and I without so much a hello. The location is ideal I’ll give it that, there’s everything you need without going too far. We will not be staying at this hotel again
The staff were extremely nice, they were open, and you could tell they cared for their customers. The pools are nice and the indoor is connected to the outdoor one. The gym and jacuzzi is right nearby the pools. The elevators can be a little crowded, and it may take some time, it goes by who ever it runs into first on its way up or down. They had a big event that went on for days while I was there with the Korean people, it looked so cool. They breakfast was excellent! I would definitely want to come again. 😁
My bed and sheets were dirty, the couch had some odd reddish brown stain on it, the bath tub was also dirty and had mold growing. They did not provide a robe like they had in there room description. My room was tiny for a deluxe king suite?? and had a funky smell when we first walked in. No microwaves or refrigerator, so if you are staying the weekend you will have to eat out the whole time. I have stayed in hotels half the price of this one and had a better experience. Would not book again or recommend to anyone, dont let the pictures from when it was new fool you.
I cant with good conscience recommend this property, especially during cold weather. Stayed in two different suites at different times and both had no heat. Just a lot of lip service and promises for my next stay. The rooms them self are great, very clean. And the breakfast was excellent. I may consider a stay in the summer as the AC seems to work well.
I have stayed at this hotel before and everything was great. Not a complete in the world. Until last night, So I had some life events that I had to stay at a hotel last night . My pay check usually comes on around 1030pm but for some reason it didnt come on at that time 🤷 , so I was dropped of at the Sonesta thinking it would pop on at anytime. Well it took a while for it to come on . So I ended up staying in the lobby all night waiting, the new shift came on and the new front desk lady called security on me (understandable) wasnt mad at all. I should of told the front desk what was going on. But what upset me was when I told her what was going on.she pretty much said I was a lier. Pay checks dont work like that.she sqid.they come on the same every week. I asked them if they wanted me to leave. She said yes but I could come back when I had the money come on my card . I told her thats ok, I wouldnt be staying there now, ill go somewhere else. So I went across the street to the Holliday Inn and was treated so good and not 10 minutes later it was on... just to let the lady at the front desk of the Sonesta know you dont knownwhat people are going through, my best friend had just killed him self in my house and thats why I was gearing a room.but the Holliday Inn took care of me. BUT THINKSBFOR all of your help and understanding. I will never stave here again.
Do not be fooled by the beautiful lobby. These are not suites do not be fooled by the pictures online either. My “suite” was not completely cleaned when I walked in the first thing I spotted was someone’s toe nail on the floor. They have no carpet and I noticed that they do not map the wooden floors or whatever they are they vacuum over it. I spilled water on the floor by accident and I dried it up with a towel and that towel was just gross.
I absolutely LOVE this hotel. I stay here every time Im in the area. Extremely clean, large rooms with all the amenities you could think of with a mini kitchen, pots and pans, silverware, can opener, bottle openers, dishwasher, garbage disposal, large fridge with the ice maker, coffee pot, Tupperware, a nice gym, pool, hot tub, restaurant in the hotel. Im serious when I say it has everything. I cant rave enough about this hotel! Ive paid MUCH higher rates for garbage rooms compared to this. This place is like a palace! Customer service is also excellent, anything I needed extra was handled with a smile. Im a customer here for LIFE. I could stay here for a week on vacation and never leave and it would truly be a vacation. Heaven!!
The lobby, hallways, offices, and eateries are all very modern and wonderful. I was given an upgrade to a suite, but the room showed its age. The supplies given were reasonable and useful. The bathroom was large, but there were holes in the wall where a towel rod should have went. The shower head was old, had poor flow, and was also corroded. The employees were fantastic and very helpful. The restaurants were high quality and helped to start/end the day. Overall its a nice location with some nice touches; as they update the rooms it will only get better.
I came here for a work conference and I had a great time! The staff were decent. Our rooms that we were in were kept clean and maintained well. The food did make me a little sick, but that may just be me. The staff I interacted with seemed great! The gift shop looked pretty cool. The bathrooms were clean, the stalls were small. The area is kind of hard to get in and out of, espesially during rush hour. I had a great experience over all.
Positive: The location . This place is starting to look more like a motel now.Poor service . Negative: This hotel used to be very nice but not anymore..The is less staff and the rooms are not cleaned ..There was trash in the trash bins in the room. Also , on Friday night ..there was a lot of young people roaming around the parking lot and the hotel smoking.
Beautiful hotel!! Staff is extremely friendly and always asked how we were and if we needed anything when entering the lobby. They have a little gift shop with Atlanta merchandise and several various items to buy if you forget some things at home like deodorant and shaving cream, etc. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. All in all a very nice place to stay on your visit.
Perfectly serviceable hotel. All of the outlets I encountered were so loose nothing would really plug in. Had to unplug their lamp and alarm clock to get good outlets without fear of burning the place down. I also noticed a beer can in the elevator waiting area of my floor....that was there all weekend. Somehow housekeeping just....kept not getting it? Nothing that REALLY affected my stay, but still enough to point out.
Horrible. The housekeeper walked in on my husband and I in the nude by walking in unannounced at 8:16am when there was no need for her to be in our room when checkout was at 11am. After making a complaint was offered $25 off a nights stay when we stayed for 2 days. To add insult to injury because they messed up was accused of smoking in the room when my husband can be seen on camera going outside to smoke and coming back up to the room several times. The comforter on the bed was NASTY and looked bacteria in infested.
This place has a very nice appearance, but has a serious issue with housekeeping. My room was not cleaned during my stay and when I told front desk with management standing present at the time, he told he would get someone up there to take care of it. When I returned to my room later it still wasnt done. When I checked out I informed front desk again about not getting serviced and having to call down for fresh linens, they apologized and said they would make sure that didnt happen on my next visit. When she had to get the manager it was the same one who told me he was sending someone up to take care of service.
We have stayed here lots of times before but there were some major issues this time. The toilet was broken and nasty, Im pretty sure someone urinated on the carpet next to the bathroom (floor felt damp, I put white towels down and ew! yellow liquid soaked through).Only one elevator was working on a very busy event night. It took 2 calls and 4 hours to get the promised champagne brought to the room.I would have given only 1 star except that the bed was very comfortable, the staff were professional and friendly and the hotel manager comped us $35 for the romance package that wasnt as romantic as one might hope.I miss how nice this place used to be.

2022-05-20This was a great stay. The staff was amazing and showed nothing but the best when dealing with me. A couple tried to skip me in tried to skip me and the manager let them know I was first. I appreciated him for that so much. The room was clean, fairly large, and I had a good view. There is a large lobby area and they have computers for use.

2022-06-30We enjoyed our stay here. We had a suite. It was nice, clean, quiet, and right by the pool. The room had a full kitchen, stocked with dishware, and cooking essentials, and coffee items,no machine. Our stay was good, but it couldve been better. Our sliding door in the bedroom was broken and wouldnt open. We booked the room with a extra sofa bed for 5 guest, but the room wasnt prep for it. It was no extra bedding for the sofa bed and the bathroom only had enough for 3 guest. Our room never got cleaned so we inquired at the desk. Housekeeping didnt come until the day before checkout, it was pointless to have them clean then, after we already been there for 4 days. Between daily showering, the pool, and already being short on towels and washcloth, we constantly had to go to the desk to get clean and dry ones. Due to the lack of housekeeping and having a toddler it was constant crumbs on the floor, but not a broom in the room. I wished I brought my hand sweeper so I couldve swept it up myself. We did dump our trash, fortunately a larger trashcan was right outside the door. We was told that housekeeping only comes to our floor once a week, Saturday. Housekeeping should definitely be tailored to the duration of the stay of their guest to ensure this doesnt happen again.Other than that, its located in a great area, with many restaurants and shops nearby. It was only 20-30 minutes from the places we needed to go. We will return, I just know what to expect next time.

2022-05-21This is one of the worst experiences weve ever had. Our first room smelt old and dirty. The TV did not work and they had someone come up to the room around 10pm to change it out. There was also no hot water. When we complained about the hot water they stated it was because there were so many people in the hotel. We reported all of this the next day and absolutely no responsibility was taken by the staff. We were given the same room we had before just on a different floor. The next day there were food wrappers and vomit by the elevator. Skip was awesome. He helped us load up to leave and was very personable.

2022-05-08Good location! Great breakfast, affordable price. The bed was comfortable. The staff was not bad. I gave 3 stars because the bathroom was dirty with a lot hair and in a bad condition. Besides that I had a good experience in this hotel.

2022-05-29This is my to go to place when my kids want to swim and have some mommy time. The staff is really nice. The room are always clean and they accommodate in everyway. I enjoy their indoor and outdoor pool. Great location. Waffle House, TGIF, Bahamas Breeze across the street and a farmers market is less then 1/2 mile away.

2022-04-11Check in was easy. Not enough luggage carts (6) for a 16 floor hotel. Was told when I called to book the hotel they had queen beds only have double beds. Had to pull out sleeper sofa mattress was in bad shape. Adriana from house keeping was awesome Willie from maintenance was awesome as well.

2022-06-11If you are ever going to a Gas South Arena concert this is a great location to get there quickly. The customer service was great, but the rooms were a little dated. The double bed rooms are small. On a positive note the shower head was clean and thats my number one pet peeve so Im glad that was on point.

2022-07-02Furniture in the lobby is beautiful but old and cracking and peeling. So sitting on some of the chairs transfers stuff to your clothes. Rooms clean but the bed spread had 2 red visible stains on it. Over all not bad. They do accept pets which in not a fan of but its a safe place to stay.

2022-06-21Positive: The bed was comfortable. Negative: Nothing was bad, just average. It met the standard. Also, there was a large wedding party at the hotel which had several rooms on my floor. They were loud well into the night and again early the next morning.
