Some of the best Italian food I’ve had, it’s certainly named one of the top 20 Italian restaurants in the country for a reason! All of the pasta was perfectly cooked and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. We thought there was a great variety on the menu, and the pappardelle with the duck ragu was our personal favorite. Smaller portions and a bit pricey but worth it for the quality!
Excellent service and, in general, good food, though inconsistent. With the risotto ai frutti di mare, with some exception (see below), seasoning was excellent, though the rice was slightly undercooked. Moreover, while the calamari was cooked perfectly, the shrimp were way over cooked and clams were just dreadfully off. Further, there were a couple of slaty bites. It was just all over the place. The tagliata di manzo, on the other hand, was simply amazing. Perfect temp, wonderfully seasoned and the greens balanced out the steak perfectly!I’ll definitely return and give it another go.
I have always loved this place!! We moved an hour further away a few years ago and do not get to eat here as often as wed like now. We made the trip to Atlanta for dinner for our anniversary this week though and it was as good as we remembered. Great food, an amazing wine list, cool atmosphere, and excellent servers. I cant wait to go back!!
Welp. Finally tried this place, and I can for sure give it a one star review. The only thing the server cares about is getting your check average higher. To start, the bread is stale and very hard. Drinks were good. Should have left it at that. Food as decent flavor… but not a traditional lasagna, portion size was good but this restaurant is too hipped up for what it actually is. I grew up in Europe and this isn’t real Italian food to me.
I was really excited to come here. The pasta was okay... nothing to rave about. I had the Michaelangelo ravioli and hubby had the sweet sausage pasta. If I ever come again, Ill have to try something like the lamb chops or salmon. The ambience was amazing. We sat in the courtyard. My biggest qualm was our server. He took FOREVER to check on us. He brought us water and left after wed waited so long to be seated. He didnt seem interested in serving us. This was our first time dining here. By the end of the night, I wanted dessert. He came to the table and asked if we wanted a box. I said YES but I also want dessert. He looked at me, then walked away to the table next to us, struck up a conversation, and told them all about the desserts. The only thing our waiter did quickly was bring us the check. Id chalk it up to him being tired, but he didnt seem to be that way with other tables. I declined dessert whenever he came back and I left disappointed. Needless to say, I doubt I return.
Amazing staff, drinks, food, and experience! I had the opportunity to enjoy a cut of veal. Although they recommend a medium rare cook for that plate, I chose to go for a medium cook instead. From my taste buds this did not compromise the plate at all. Although, I might need to try it at the recommended cook next time.
Had dinner here last night and it was fantastic! We tried the tortelli di michelangelo buonarroti (must try), fettuccini Alfredo, and the seafood risotto. Everything was delicious and the service was great. We had an awesome waiter who was friendly and fast. The only thing that I would skip in the future was the bread pudding for dessert, it was a little bit dry. Come for the pasta and the service, maybe try something different for dessert.
Worth it? You decide. Tonight I decided to give Sotto Sotto a second try at wowing me and boy do I feel like never going back. To start off my experience I called to make a same day reservation for 9pm on a Tuesday. When the hostess informed me they did not have that time and offered me 9:30 PM on the heated patio I was understanding and accepted the placement. When we arrived we were shown through an, at most, half full dining room to their back patio which indeed was warm thought not in atmosphere. I felt as if we had been relegated to the ‘kids table’ as it were. We were placed at a table amongst some very loud and somewhat misbehaved younger patrons, one even having a full speaker phone conversation mere feet away at their table. The person who showed us to our table filled our water glasses and told us our server would be with us shortly. Minutes passed and I excused myself to the restroom and back. To my amazement when I returned no one had yet come to our table. It truly felt at this point like we were in for a bad night. We would have to wait approximately 15-20 minutes for someone to come. This was starting to remind me of our previous visit where, before they installed real walls to the patio a worker exited the kitchen door on the other side of the fence to relieve themself in the alley. Once a server got to us he rushed us through our order all at once and did offer us some ‘free olive oil’ as the olive oil flight was not available. We ate our food and while it was good I truly don’t feel that the experience I have had is worth going back.
When we came to check in for our reservation, the hosts were talking amongst themselves and didnt acknowledge us (and were very terse once they finally did). It was a bit busy and I definitely understand how that can be stressful/distracting but it still made for an awkward experience. We had 4 courses and two cocktails each. Everything we ordered was mediocre (though the pasta dishes were the best of everything we ordered).
I ordered a tagliolini al pomodoro fresco which is a very simple dish and I have to say it was incredible. The most delicious pasta I have tasted. The restaurant was very trendy and it is in a great location. Walking distance from some great places like Barcelona Atlanta and Vinoteca wine shop. Highly recommended it!
If youre in a rush, perhaps this isnt the place for you.Our service was kind, attentive to a lot of detail, however the time between ordering appetizers and entrees was a bit long, along with the time to arrive, but perfection takes time! That said, our wait was well rewarded, with some of the best Alfredo Ive had in my life.My companions enjoyed theirs as well, and well be happy to return in the future.
Sotto Sotto was a great experience at Old Fourth Ward in Atlanta. The staff were really attentive and provided great suggestions. The Carpaccio as an appetizer really set the stage, especially accompanied by nice Sicilian wine. The main course was delicious with plentiful portions. The lasagnette meal seem to grow on you with every bite. My spouse had a pasta with a wide variety of mushrooms that was equally delicious. Although the portions were plentiful, we finished every bite. To top it all off, the Panacotta for dessert was perfect. The cost was on par with the quality youd expect for what you are paying. We would definitely return here again.
The food was OK. I think its called the something misoto but we had that for an appetizer. Its like a 3 cheese and 3 meat kind of charcuterie board. The cheese wasnt all that good and the meat was decent, but salty. For the entree we had the alfredo with chicken & shrimp. The chicken was very hard to cut.. like we had to put our back into it..but the shrimp was alright. I had a thick noodle pasta with sausage... not sure whats its called. It was decent but I would not order it again. I also didnt finish it. Our waiter, I think his name was Devon was cool. hence the 3 star.
The food was overall good. The service was excellent. I made my reservation by phone 10 days prior. I requested to sit inside. When I arrived, I was told my reservation was outside and that it would be a long wait to sit inside. This was very disappointing. This was the reason I called instead of booking online in the first place.
Sotto Sotto is a consistently great place to get great Italian food. To me it reminds me of the old Abruzzi with its excellent food and top notch service. The house made pasta is so excellent I rarely explore the secondi. Our most recent excursion was another top notch experience. Dining in the courtyard with attentive service by Lorrany L. was wonderful. I predict we will return many times in the future.
Was invited here for dinner with friends. Visiting from New Jersey we have a lot of Italians restaurants and tend to be picky. Overall the staff was very attentive and friendly. Drinks where food and plenty to choose from. For me my favorite plate was the farro salad and the pescadores linguini. Portions where good and honestly I as just great Italian food. Can’t wait to back to try their other dishes.Side note there is free valet parking behind restaurant wasn’t aware but good to know.
I wont go back here. Food was alright but our service was horrible. Our waiter never fully faced our, table always ready to run away. I was in the middle of ordering and he left the table. He was wearing a hoodie unlike everyone else so we didnt even know, at first, that he was our waiter. Never told us his name and at the end of the meal he was on his phone, on a phone call when he brought the boxes.
Wish we read the reviews before wasting our money on this place. I agree Olive Garden would have been a better choice. At least at Olive Garden you are attended to and given generous portions. The food and service at Sotto Sotto was subpar to mediocre at best. Not going back.
First time here, visiting our of town and came here on a recommendation and absolutely amazing!!! Every single thing was fantastic! Server had great suggests. The drinks were great. Just come here and try for your self!!! Next Im in atlanta I will absolutely come back.
Pleasant atmosphere and competent service but the inability to substitute potatoes for a simple side of vegetables was very surprising. The seafood pasta was good albeit a bit too salty but the halibut was quite disappointing. Very acidic tomato sauce and the fish was quite bland. The bread that was served with olive oil was stale. The Panna cota was good. Time for the owners to make a trip to Italy.
Amazing. We came through with reservations on a Tuesday and we so taken care of! We got caccio y Pepe, the loose lasagne and the risotto Del Mar (forgive me I think these names are right!) but it was all so so good. Our waiter was also able to give some awesome wine recommendations.
Slammed busy, was treated pretty poorly once we entered (pretty sure based on appearance) the food was mediocre at best, good wine but the sommelier was either drunk or just wanted to push expensive garbage wine for the sale.I personally wouldnt go back but only because for the price there are far better options on the same block.
Ordered a glass of wine and the waiter kept remarking how I looked 14. My friend also ordered a glass and tried to show her Id and the waiter goes no, I definitely don’t need to see yours. Pretty rude lol….. food was decent but very small portions. Everyone else raves about this place though so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.
Fantastic Italian food with great company. We had the bufala e peperoni, the scallops appetizer (Cape Sante), the fava beans and pecorino appetizer, the beet/pistachio gorgonzola salad, the linguini del pescatore, the duck ragu papardelle, the artichoke & mascarpone ravioli, panna cotta and homemade ice cream. A full meal I guess... :) The service was perfect and Jimmy, the manager had great presence. The room is also very pleasant so definitely a must-do when in Atlanta.

This is for us foodies that want the real thing, for those that want the deep dive into food. If that is you, run,not walk to Sotto Sotto. Tell them we sent you!!T_vfooduniverse on IG
The ambiance is lovely. The wine selection...very strong and the server quite knowledgeable. The scallops were seared to perfection and creamy in the middle. The seafood risotto truly delightful (even though there was a bit of sand from the clam and mussel shells). The downfall was the special of the evening...the pheasant. The mushrooms and potatoes that came with it were excellent (overlooking the one bite of sand left on the mushrooms)...but the pheasant itself was very dry. I have had succulent pheasant on more than one occasion...so it CAN be done...just not this time. Overall I wish all of the plates had a little more color...each dish was a little too brown...more edible greenery (especially for the scallops and pheasant) would not have hurt anything at all. That being said...everything was good enough where I would come back and willingly try other dishes.
We thought the pasta was good in terms of texture and freshness but the sauce was very bland. Nothing screamed amazing. We tried the cacio e Pepe and the spinach gnocchi. I really enjoyed the spinach gnocchi but my friends thought it was too much spinach and not enough potato in the gnocchi. The charcuterie misto was good and I would get it again as a starter. Their bread here was not good. It was like white sandwich bread and I would not order it again.Overall I’m disappointed since this restaurant is down the street from me but overall there are better italian places in Atlanta in my opinion.
Fantastic Italian restaurant. My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday and it was a fantastic experience.Food: The wine that was recommended a Tuscan blend paired really well with everything that we ordered from the mozzarella with tomatoes to the two pasta dishes. The pasta was excellent and fresh. Some of the best I’ve tasted in Atlanta.Service: the waitress we had was courteous, professional, and took excellent care of us. She made the dining experience that much better.Atmosphere: This restaurant is cozy and comfortable. This is the kind of environment I look for when I go get Italian food. Reminded me a lot of restaurants in Verona.
Wow. This place is amazing. We came here for an early birthday dinner on a Thursday evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had an old fashioned which was very well made. I had the ravioli nudi and the risotto mantecato. The risotto, oh my my. I dream of this risotto now. It was perfect and flavorful. The ravioli nudi was rich. I had higher hopes for the cappellacci di zucca but it just needed some black pepper on it and it would have been perfect. It wasnt too sweet but it needed some sort of kick. We also got a dessert that was similar to a tiramisu and it was also very delicious. Our server was AWESOME. Kept checking in on us, was humorous, gave great suggestions. Since Im vegetarian, they were able to accommodate. The interior is kinda cramped? They had to move a table so we can get into the booth.Cant wait to come back again!
Awesome place, awesome food. I have been twice in the past three years. Average prices, $18 to $40 a plate. Well worth the great tasting food. I drive an hour and a half one way to get there from North Georgia. Will be planning another trip. I had the same waiter both times that has been there for 11 years.
So I walked in with little expectation, and was blown away. Their traditional Italian flavors were paired with amazing new recipes, fresh ingredients, and warm service. Not only do you get all of this, but you get it at a relatively reasonable price. Give star 3 course meal with drinks... Under $200 out the door. Great for date night!
Went here for our anniversary. The pepper pasta was sub par even after ordering a side of Alfredo sauce (that came out cold and watery) the chicken however was very good. The bread and cheap olive oil they give you was worse then the bread sticks at Olive Garden and the carpaccio was pretty tasteless. Our waiter didn’t really make the experience pleasurable and wanted us to order immediately as he had bigger parties to attend to and wasn’t very kind I guess is the right word. For the price of the food I expect the experience to be amazing but it just wasn’t especially on an anniversary. With so many other great restaurants in the area (which I live in and visit frequently) for a first time going here I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.
Very nice ambience, would recommend the courtyard or the mezzanine for a better speaking volume. The food was all very good, including appetizers and desserts. Service was just ok - we had to wait 15-20 minutes after our reservation for a table, and there was a large amount of time between service, and it took a very long time to get food. Overall a good experience, would recommend.
My experience was sooooo lovely tonight. We had a beautiful server named Jen who was very attentive to our needs, and was able to help us choose between all the delicious options. Jen even suggested wine to pair with our choices. How cute! The manager Jimmy was also so kind. The food was so yum. Will deffo be back again soon!! xoxo
Fine dining for sure. Had a lovely anniversary evening, despite the very close seating and loud conversations on all sides.I dont think the food was very much to write home about; certainly good quality and generous portions, but the seafood pasta - one of my favorite types of dish - left me unimpressed. Those aspects above are pretty subjective, but what I will say Im most impressed and grateful for is the lack of pretense shown by the staff: The menu is largely in Italian, and while I can guess at some cognates from my HS French, my partner and I both struggled to interpret the menu, and even more so to pronounce our selections. Our waiter, to my great pleasure, did not care. Did not ask us to repeat ourselves. Did not make us feel in the slightest bit out of place here, where the clientele is clearly well heeled. Id be happy to go back here and try more of the menu.
Italian isnt my thing, but my friend loves it, so I chose this place. I opted for valet parking (a very quick walk around the corner) because the place sits on a hill and I saw nothing but cars and no free spaces and it was too cold for me to be interested in being cheap and parking for free. Now, to the restaurant! This place is perfect for a date night. The prices reflect it and the atmosphere supports it. The place is very cozy and open and cute with low lighting, however, be prepared to sit directly next to someone. Like, directly. You barely have room to slide between tables. Make sure you visit on a third date when you like talking to each other so youre guaranteed to drown out the voices next to you. Now, the drinks! They have an extensive wine menu. Couldnt read it. Fancy. Marked up. Date night prices. My friend got something sweet and I just did water. Now, the food!I have no idea what I ordered. The menu is in Italian and some of the ingredients were unfamiliar. Again, Italian isnt my thing. Im happy to say though, that the waiter was awesome, super friendly, understanding, and totally didnt make me feel like the fish out of water I felt. Anyways, he explained every item I asked about thoroughly and I still didnt get it, but I can tell you I got the ravioli that was savory and my friend got some pasta dish I cant recall with a rich wine flavor. Finally, our food arrived on huge plates with small portions of pasta. You definitely dont leave this place with leftovers. Now, the taste! That pasta was delicious!!! I dont know what I ate but it was delicious! Id totally eat it again. My friend obliterated her plate. As for me, well, I wanted more, but I wasnt quite famished, so I settled for a manageable bill and got an appetizer that my friend called healthy. It had arugula and thin sliced beef. It was good and just the last bite I needed. After all, Im mentioning the small portions, but its still pasta. Once it settles, youre good. I didnt eat again for the rest of the night.Overall ... Italian still aint my thing, but if Im dating someone that likes it, Ill ABSOLUTELY visit Sotto Sotto again. Then, Ill order the exact same thing. And Im keeping this picture for reference because I dont know what the heck it was!
Everything was perfect. The courtyard, Cabernet (our server!), the relaxed energy, the food (delicious), the suggested wine pairing, the dessert, the ambiance. This was a three hour family dinner we 4 women will not soon forget. A sprinkle of Magic. Thank you for “finding” a table for us on your otherwise solidly booked Sunday night.
A little pricey but definitely worth it. The other two people that I was with each had a 20oz ribeye over a bed of arugula, and I had veal with mushrooms and roasted potatoes...taste buds were overjoyed! One of the ladies that were with us said she has been there several times and has never had a bad dish there. Because we had spent so much on dinner, we went across the street to Ben n Jerrys for dessert though. With the wonderful food Sotto Sotto served, Im pretty sure there desserts were just as wonderful. If you go...dont be cheap like us, get the whole experience. ;)
Staff that will Rob you. Incompetent management with no standards They do read reviews Just are arrogant in which they acknowledgeWarning to all Sotto Sotto patrons.. For your protection.. Look at your bad reviews
The food was great, the service marginal. Our waitress seemed more interested in spending time visiting with certain patrons which slowed down the service considerably. Despite the observation concerning services I would try Sotto Sotto again, as other servers seemed more attentive.
This is a small cozy gem of a restaurant. We ate at the bar which is available on a 1st come basis. The restaurant was fully booked.I actually think the bar is a great was to enjoy Sotto Sotto. The bartender was very knowledgeable on northern Italian wines and cocktails. The food was very traditional northern Italian. Pasta cooked perfectly, slightly al-dente. Sauces simple and flavorful.Cant wait to go back there again when Im next in Atlanta. Highly recommend. You might bump into Michael Keaton while youre there too. Hes a local. But keep that quite. Shhhhh
Menu is hard to read, appetizers were okay, but food took a while to come out. for the high prices and experience it could have been better. They messed up one of our orders as well. Only positive thing is the food was good and they were flexible with my reservation. I would still try them again and give them another chance.
One of the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Ricardo Ulio has keep this place consistently at the top because of his attention to detail. The house olive oil served with the excellent bread is delicious - not too peppery but smooth with some floral notes and great mouth feel. The food is good no matter what you select although one of my favorites is the cacio pepe and also the lasagna.
Went in with my husband for dinner. We were seated at the bar until a table was cleared. Ordered a glass of wine and then moved to the table a few minutes after. No server ever came. We sat for 25 minutes and then closed out at the bar for the 1 glass of wine. Whoever seated us said Thanks have a great night.as we left. Didnt even seem to register that he just seated us 25 minutes before. Bummer service.
Sotto Sotto is growing on me as one of my favorite restaurants. This quaint little restaurant packs a flavorful punch. The lighting is perfect for you and your date. The staff is friendly. Dining area is kept clean. Reservations are recommended. Head over to Sotto Sotto and tell them Angelo sent you.
My first time at Sotto Sotto. We were a large party - to celebrate my husband’s mom’s birthday. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was exceptional. But the food is the star. Everything was excellent. I actually wish we were in town longer so I could eat there again! It was all so great!!
Sotto Sotto is our date night go to. We love to get the small portion of the pasta entrees so we can try multiple new things every time. Theres something for every palate and the awesome servers can always steer you in the right direction. Great wine selection too. Vibes are great for a special occasion or a casual night out before walking around Inman Park.
Wait til next Spring to go, that is if you end up sitting out on theEnclosed patio. No covering overhead.. Couldnt tell you how thefood was, frostbite was setting in on our hands and feet. We asked three times for them to cover the open top, but the Manager said No one told me! Oh...OK then.... no problem. Bye Bye Soto Soto
Best meal we had in the area!! Such delicious food, incredible wine, the atmosphere is AMAZING and beautiful, and the staff is lovely as well. Our server Harmon was very friendly and also helpful when it came to recommending certain dishes and held pleasant conversation. Very happy to have found this place on our trip and will definitely be coming back next time!
Every time I’ve been to Sotto Sotto, the food has been phenomenal and I’ve always recommended this place to friends as the best Italian food in the area.Last night’s meal however was disappointing and prompted this review as a call out for the crew to get their otherwise great game back on track! My seafood risotto came out dry and the rice was lacking basic seasoning and flavor. Half of the clams were still closed and hence inedible. I kept biting into the shatters of mussel shells that were mixed into the rice and scratched my gums. Overcooked shrimp reeked of ammonia, indicating it wasn’t fresh.I hope my review gets the attention of the owners and that they would take steps towards improving the food quality.
Hidden off the main street in Inman Park, this place lets you feel like you can step right into Europe. The bustling ambiance, the white tablecloth tables positioned carefully under the dim lights scattered around the floor, and the robust wine selections all create a foreign experience right in your backyard. The food - incredible. Its upscale, and I highly recommend
If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Do not waste your money here. I’ve had better food at an Olive Garden in the middle of nowhere, USA. Seriously. I ordered the fettucine alfredo and linguine a la vongole. Not only did they somehow manage to make the driest pasta I’ve ever had, but the clams were mediocre and several of them didn’t even have meat. There was no sauce on the linguine, and the tails were left on the shrimp in the fettucine. I have had better linguine and fettucine in college. How do you even manage to make Alfredo sauce that’s not even creamy? It tastes like powdered cheese. This was an insult to Italian food and it was an insult to pay $52 for this.
My dish was disappointing. I came to Sotto Sotto based on many recommendations and one past experience. To be balanced, I thought the service and ambience were great. We were seated promptly. Our server was attentive and did a great job from start to finish. The salmon, however, arrived dry and hard after I ordered it medium rare. Being on a first date, I didnt want to make an issue, but I think I should make the point here as a heads up for seafood lovers. Something to consider at $28 per portion.
Great evening! The pasta is fresh and amazing. Our server, Kyle, made excellent recommendations for food and wine. He was attentive without being a nuisance. We got the lasagna and sea bass. Both were simply incredible! This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the ATL.
I saw many bad reviews so when a friend chose this for her birthday dinner, I was nervous. To my surprise, everything was PERFECT! We were seated immediately (we had a reservation) and the waiter was awesome. He even went to their sister restaurant nextdoor and got calamari for us. Their drinks were 10/10 and no one had any problems with their food. They brought chocolate soup out for the birthday girl and it reminded us of a Ferrero Rocher. I feel bad for everyone that had a less than stellar experience here because mine was memorable.
The food wasn’t all that good tbh. It was a nice presentation though. for larger parties, they don’t take more than four payments in total so that messed up our whole payment process. Also, water was seven dollars per bottle and we were not alerted of that when we were ordering water as the meal went on. Six out of 10 recommend.
Very intimate atmosphere, scallops are amazing. The ristto was prepared perfectly. Their charcuterie board was very delicious with the accompaniments pairing extremely well. We tried 4 pastas and while not listed on the menu you are able to get your pasta as an appetizer style so you can sample more. Of the 4 we agreed the nudi was the best however none came out quite hot more warm. The one item which was a bit strange was our server kept changing and they were never seen again which led to a bit of miscommunication.
The risotto ai funghi, tortelloni ai carciofi, and zuppa al Cioccolato were amazing. The assaggio dolio was okay. I did not care for the carpaccio di manzo, tortelli di Michelangelo Buonarroti, and bucatini all Amatriciana. The waiter had a slight pretentious attitude. Id still go back though because the food was amazing.
Very disappointed. The food was average. The waitress was visibly annoyed the whole night. She was borderline rude. She told us all the food had to be placed at once, apps etc, as roasted food took a while. After placing the order, the food, INCLUDING a roasted dish, came out in less than 5 minutes. Therefore, it was obvious all the food is pre made. Water glasses were never refilled. A dish that was ordered from the start, was “forgotten about.” Our few course meal, only took about 30 mins. We felt rushed. We were very disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant, there are way to many better restaurants in Atlanta.
I was very underwhelmed with my experience at Sotto Sotto. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but this experience implored me to do so.The service wasn’t friendly. The food was mediocre and didn’t live up to the rave reviews that I read. We started with the Vongole, which was light on clams and heavy on salt. The farro salad had very little farro and a lot of tomatoes, which weren’t listed in the ingredients. It all was soaking in a puddle of oil. If you list parsley, surely you can list tomatoes. I wouldn’t have ordered it had I known. The server didn’t ask if the dish was OK, she just took away a dish that was partially-eaten.I ordered the tagliatelle ai funghi. The pasta was cooked perfectly, unfortunately it tasted like Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup. I had my husband take a bite without sharing my thoughts and he said “It tastes like Campbell’s…”My husband ordered the tortelli di Michelangelo Buonarroti. He took 2 bites and said he didn’t like it. And there we sat for 15 minutes. No one came by to check on us, or the meal. When the waitress finally came by, she asked if she could get a box to go. My husband declined and said he didn’t like the dish. She seemed annoyed. We eat out a lot. I know the service industry is hard. I know we are just emerging from COVID. But the experience wasn’t one that would bring us back, or recommend to others. If one aspect was off, I’d give it a pass. When all aspects are off, I think it deserves sharing.
This is a superlative place, I’ve eaten there for years. The strezzopretti I had the last time I was there was a revelation, now my new favorite pasta preparation; the food is uniformly great as is the service. Also, the bar menu is always changing and always intriguing.
First time here. It came highly recommended by our air bnb host. Sat at the bar and Eric was great. Super friendly guests sitting around us, and that made the night go great. Food was not that great. Ceasar salad dressing was bland, mussels were too fishy tasting and did not have much broth. The linguine came out in literally 5 minutes of us ordering it, which showed us it was pre made. It was dry and the sauce was bland. We were disappointed in the food taste, especially after being so highly recommended and the place was packed.
On Thursday I took a friend to enjoy some Italian food, a friendly couple told me about the location while walking on the beltline. We ordered a Cesar salad to start and the flavors was completely bland. The service was ok although I felt rushed to order. When I heard the interaction when she greeted the other table not to far. It helped me understand the difference in service, she explained about the place and how things flow. She gave them the full experience, seemed a bit biased or uncontinuous biased. Not long after about 5 employees was standing not to far by and just talking and looking directly at my guest and I. The manager was very rude when he came to the table not long after and told me I have to leave if my dog doesn’t stay quiet. Which he did bark a couple times because he knew I was getting to upset from how I was treated. At that point I asked for my food Togo because I didn’t feel welcomed. My friend and fur baby (service animal) try to eat our dinner at a park and was yet disappointed once again . Bland flavor small portions and overpriced for mediocre food.
Exceptional service and the food is incredible. Not being as familiar with Italian wines, our server after hearing our preference for wine made a splendid selection that was exactly what we wanted. Each dinner selection by our party of five received rave reviews from each person. How often does that happen? The pastas were perfect for their respective type and the seafood was cooked perfectly. We shared a couple orders of the chocolate soup for dessert that was so rich and wonderful, but having just enough to be wonderfully fulfilled without being over the top.
This is a very nice Italian restaurant. They have appropriate portion sizes and can help make an evening special. They have good drinks, within the realm of what is normally paired with Italian food. Their waitstaff are nice and accomodating. They place is very clean and more attractive looking than photos would suggest- its actually quite romantic and cozy. It is smaller than you would think, though, so I would make reservations on busy nights to be safe.
We made reservations for 5:45 and got there right on time and were seated. The meal from start to finish was absolutely delicious-the flavors were amazing. We did not realize we were going during restaurant week but that had no impact on our selections or the quality of the food. The service was professional and good. The only draw back for me was the barely 12 inches between the tables along the wall-takes away from the experience.
Good vibes, great food. Their fresh Lemonade is made with delicious freshly squeezed myers lemons. My wife enjoyed her drinks from fritis since we were seated there originally. When we asked if Fritis served pasta they told us no, but that their next door sister restaurant Sotto Sotto does. They offered us a menu from Sotto Sotto. Service and food were great!
Delicious! We celebrated a friends birthday here and had a fabulous night. One member of our party was able to order gluten-free pasta and focaccia bread. Their risotto was top of the line - I recommend asking your server to suggest a bottle of wine to pair with. For a couples dinner, they brought out only one bill. Would be 5 stars if they split checks.
Service from Daniel was so so. Our table ordered the seafood risotto and the rice was still crunchy so he sent it back. He came back with the same dish reheated and the seafood was overcooked. He claims that the other portion was thrown out but he lied. The duck in the pasta was dry. The wild mushroom pasta was the best thing that we ordered but I think for close to a $150 tap the food would be ALOT better
This was my favorite birthday dinner to date. The entire experience was spectacular. It was only a Tuesday but it was packed, always a good sign. My pasta meal with duck was divine. It was perfectly cooked and the portion was just right. Dessert was delicious as well. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We didnt feel rushed at all. I will be back the next time Im in Atlanta
Their homemade pasta dishes are undeniably the most perfect food to solve any problems in life. I’ve had better pasta at Sotto Sotto than in Italy. The servers are so knowledgeable on wine, it takes the thinking out of it. Let them make a suggestion for your dish. Also, a great place for night cap drinks as their tiny bar is a great local gathering hole. ;)
We sat in the wine mezzanine on a Friday night. Food and service was excellent. Shout out to Olive for being a fantastic server and going above and beyond to make our experience great. The spinach gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Loved it!
My friends and I came for restaurant week, and the food was incredible. A gentleman who I assume was the manager recommended a great wine. The entire experience was great with the exception of our server. We had a woman who seemed extremely frustrated all night. She didn’t make eye contact with anyone at the table and was very rude despite our efforts to start conversation. She forgot my dessert. Her demeanor as a whole was short, inconsiderate, and just unnecessary. The restaurant was for sure packed, so I am sure she was quite busy. But there was no need for such a terrible attitude.Typically if I have a poor server it’s whatever. But for a $150 bill, I definitely expected more. Whoever you are lady, I hope your night got better.Regardless, great food. Check it out if you’re in the Inman park area.
Amazing ambience and atmosphere. Had a great birthday dinner surrounded by friends and loved ones. Even though the restaurant was full, we were still able to converse without being overpowered by the noise. The food was also exceptional. Ordered a plethora of their pastas, absolutely delicious.
Great food, location, ambience, and service! Their menu is gorgeous, anticipate an internal battle choosing what to eat. This would be a perfect place to share a few of the pasta dishes among the table to get to sample more tastes. The butter/sage sauce with whole fried sage leaves in it changed my life. Im exaggerating a little bit, though I have since started using fried sage leaves in different dishes at home, so thank you Sotto Sotto! The neighborhood would be a great place for a stroll before or after. The restaurant is beautiful, but do be aware there are so many tables inside that you may be almost shoulder to shoulder with the table next you. This is not a complaint, it was not unpleasant at all. Its just something to note... it might not be the place if you want a very intimate dinner with private/sensitive conversation.
The lasagne, the duck pasta dish, the spinach gnocchi.......it’s all so good. A very nice restaurant for either a special occasion, business meal or just an evening out for some great food. Our waiter recently was very passionate about wine and we had a great evening with friends trying lots of different wines. Food is fantastic and we found the service to be excellent aswell. I’m a regular at Italian restaurants and this is an excellent one.
I usually dont post reviews but me and my family came here for my sisters birthday and The service was atrocious for a upscale restaurant. The waiter kept dropping water on the table. The olive oil had no black pepper and the cheese was served after the entrees. Food was decent but small portions and not filling at all. I will not be coming here again.
Have been to this restaurant many many times. Each time is a wonderful and excellent experience. The atmosphere is great. The food is great. Always enjoy seeing the Chef/Owner on site. The wait staff and manager are always welcoming and patient as this restaurant is always very busy. Looking forward to my next visit and meal.
No parking spots, sat by cold window, view of curtain, and view of a wall. Overall way too expensive, not even the bread was free, left the restaurant unsatisfied or full, but our waiter Carl/Kyle was the highlight of our dining experience. The dude with the cool necklace and arm cast.
Good, but pricey, spot for quality Italian eats. The pasta is all made on site and excellent. Wine list is extensive and the overall ambiance is upscale, but inviting. Walking distance to a number of other restaurants/bars and the belt-line. My one complaint is the cocktails. In this day and age, you cant serve an Old Fashioned with bar ice. Period.
Service: 5/5Decoration: 4/5Food: 5/5Parking:4/5 - street parking or valet (free for 2 hrs)Wait time: 4/5 - usually 30 mins after being seated. The overall experience is on point. You can reserve a table on the same day in google map and they always receive your submission. They are polite and professional. The restaurant is quite tight but it wont bring down your experience. The food is good. All dishes are good. Would recommend the Funghi mushroom pasta (last one in the list). They have good options for vegetarians. They also offer smaller dishes for pasta with less price so you could try more dishes. Pasta dishes (regular size) are about $20 each. Good portion. In brief, pasta lovers should not miss this restaurant.
Our server was a ton of fun and the back patio was quite the romantic backdrop for my first visit to Sotto Sotto.I had two delicious cocktails and the salmon entree. While overcooked the salmon was fresh and good.Great place for a date.Extensive wine selection.Great service from everyone that worked in the restaurant. Bravo!
Love this place! The pasta is perfectly cooked and everything that they have is absolutely delicious. The portions are a bit small and seating is usually pretty close quarters, so be prepared for that when you go. I love the risotto that has balsamic in it, it is surprisingly awesome! Also the strazzapretti and the ravioli with sage butter sauce are to die for. A favorite place of mine and my husbands
Showed up for a dinner reservation for 5 people last Thursday. We were celebrating a special occasion and had 3 guests from out of town. My wife and I had raved about how good the food and service was at Sotto Sotto from a previous visit. We were really hungry and placed the entire order - drinks, appetizers, and entrees together at 9:12 PM. The bread came out promptly and we asked our server for black pepper. It took 3 reminders and 15 minutes for him to get it for us.The appetizers came out soon after and then it was over an hour after the salad that the entrees showed up. The restaurant wasnt even busy. We had to flag our waiter down multiple times to check on our order. Every time he would brusquely respond its coming. Not once did he come up to us to let us know that he had checked on the order or apologize for the delay. Finally when we asked to speak with his manager, his response was about what? and walked away. We had to ask another waiter to call the manager. Absolutely horrible service. The food was okay, but definitely not worthy of a place in the top 20 Italian restaurants in the US magazine article the restaurant was flaunting in their lounge. Maybe top 20 in Atlanta.
I absolutely loved this place. From the amazing food, to the personable bartender, Eric, who kept me company as a solo diner with great conversation, to the extremely kind manager, Marcus, who arranged a reservation for me at another ATL restaurant the following day. Thank you for your hospitality and I look forward to coming back on my next visit!Dont miss this place!
A very traditional menu. I would like to see a more modern spin on these classics. The service was good and atmosphere as well. The wine menu is large. Most of the dishes I tried just seemed too heavy and rich. I know that serves well for certain entree’s, however their marinara, which serves as a base for many dishes, lacks that vibrancy and fresh herbed taste I personally prefer.
I visited Sotto Sotto for restaurant week and it was amazing! We were a little late, so had to wait for a table. Decided to get a couple of glasses of wine from the bar & as soon as we got them, we were called to be seated. They transferred the bill to our table no problem rather than making us pay at the bar--I love places that offer this!! Two thumbs up.We were seated outside at a table under the trees. The weather was absolutely perfect for the evening. It was a little dark and hard to see the menu, but our waiter made it really easy to decide on what to order.Every course was VERY tasty and the waiter, Thomas, was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Would definitely go back!!!!
Food and service are absolutely 5 stars. We had 5 dishes at our table (two of us), and each dish was amazing. My main dish was the veal parmigiana, and when I tell you it was huge, it was HUGE! I only got through about 1/3 of it and had to take the rest home. Scallops were also a show stopper as well. The drink selections are great - particularly the signature drinks. Service - fantastic. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, engaging, and transparent. The only thing that stops me from giving this 5 stars was that it was really tight in there. Im sure on a night when its not busy the ambiance is amazing. But it was quite busy on a Saturday night and our table was really close to a neighboring table and it was quite loud. Didnt bother us much - but cant give it 5 stars as I could see how this could be annoying if it happened regularly. But its well worth the snugness to check out Sotto Sotto.
I almost gave this place 3 stars because half of my lemon chicken was tough (overcooked). However, the waiters (Kyle) service was so amazing along with the atmosphere that I can charge this mishap to human error. Aside from the overcooked portion of my chicken, the other piece was amazing along with potatoes and spinach!Id definitely give this place another shot off the strength of the service.

I simply found this place because I had a craving for Italian and I must say Sotto hit the spot! The food selection and 🍷 was simply fantastic. I chose to go to the bar and bartender was very nice and professional with selection of choices on the menu. We had conversation across the bar since it seemed everyone at the bar were by themselves. I look forward to bringing my Lady-friend next time.... Again bravo to good romantic service.
My husband and I dined at Sotto Sotto to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been in the past and were looking forward to our revisit. Unfortunately, we had a terrible evening and will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. My husband has a long history working in the restaurant industry and we have two rules when dining out, never send food back and never write reviews. Well, those rules have gone out the window as of Sunday. Our reservation was for the patio outdoors where we were seated at a two top table immediately upon entry to the patio. We ordered a four course meal including the smoked burrata, caesar salad, small plate of the seafood pasta, and the veal and ravioli for final course. We also started with a bottle of white wine that that server zealously poured and even waited while the glass was in my hand, at my mouth, while I took a sip to fill me right on up. Food was great until the final course that came out with the third course.I took one bite of the veal and it was over salted. My husband took two bites and agreed. I took another to confirm and we broke the rule. We had to send the veal back. The server quickly took it away and informed us that he did not want the courses coming out that way anyway so sending the item back worked out better. We ordered another bottle of wine. While we waited for the second bottle of wine, another server approached our table to inform us that they would prefer not to make us the veal and we should select something else. He went on to advise that chef had sampled our returned veal and felt it was properly cooked and that’s just the way the prepare it. I must assume (but you know what they say about that) that preparation is over salted or then again maybe the chef was a bit heavy handed with the salt upon frying to veal. Either way we canceled the wine, requested the check and left.Upon exit, the same man who informed us they preferred to not re-prepare our veal advised us to have a good night. As to add insult to injury. I hope he realizes that it was not about the meal or the veal it was how he approached the situation and how he made us feel. It would have been easy remake the veal, we eat it good or bad, we share another bottle of wine, have dessert and leave full. Instead, we were made to feel shamed and embarrassed that we sent an over salted item back. Not only have we eaten around the world, we cook regularly and work in hospitality. But what do we know about salt?We write this review, after my husband used this as an example during line up to his restaurant staff as a reminder of hospitality. There was nothing hospitable about our dinner and I regret to inform the readers and writers of reviews take Sotto Sotto off your list.
They can accommodate larger parties without goofing up. The food was delicious and not over priced. They had a great wine selection. We had an awesome time.I will add, the front door can be overlooked. It’s just an old store front door and when you try to open it, the lock gets stuck. So just pull really hard and it will open and you’ll go through black out curtains.I’m sure after they read this, they’ll fix the door.
As a local, I have eaten here several times. Last night our food was spot on. The food has always been consistently good here. But I was surprised last night by their ridiculous corkage fee. 40 for the first bottle, 80 for the second and 120 for the third! Wow. We obviously didn’t drink the second bottle we brought to share with our friends. I would be more than happy to try wines off their menu, but I am not going to pay 2 times bottle cost. Probably not every bottle is this bad, but Zenato Valpolicella Ripassa was listed for $50 when you can easily find it for 25. When you see that, why would I pay 100 for a wine I don’t recognize? Sad.
This place is incredible. From the service to the food to the ambience. We had the scallop appetizer- perfection! Then we have the Risotto Montecato, Taglietelle Funghi, and Veal. Wow wow wow. the service was one of the best in the city. Alison was an amazing server! She was attentive, friendly, and gave perfect recommendations. Highly recommend her as a server! Overall, great place for an anniversary dinner..or really anything else. Great place.
Ehh, I was there as part of a birthday party so Im not going to judge them on the service as I understand the issues serving parties. However the food was nothing worth remembering at all. The scallops were flavorless, my veal was chewy, and my wifes seafood risotto was overcooked. The only redeeming factor was the price was reasonable and staff was accommodating.
It was my first time there, and I made a reservation and made it there got set and than waited and waited for 18 min to get a cocktail or an app. We were celebrating a Birthday and I know that it take time but that was a little crazy. We ask the waiter his name an he said that they dont give there names. Will I go back no for that kind of service. But the Food is great !!! Im sure it doesnt matter about this review but if you go there just be prepared
One of the best Italian restaurants in Atlanta. Northern Italian, so not a red sauce emporium. A most comprehensive all Italian wine list, perhaps the best in town. Owner is from Milan so this is the real deal. Portions are just right. I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed.
My husband and I went to Sotto Sotto to have a fancy date, and we were not disappointed! Chill atmosphere, excellent food, and our waiter Grant treated us so well! This place is definitely on our list of restaurants to revisit! The friendliness, professionalism, and warmth started the moment we stepped through the curtains into the dining area and didnt end until we left the table. Everyone who interacted with us was very pleasant, but Grant took care of us 99% of the time. As if the food wasnt awesome (and Ill get to that in a bit), Grant is one of the biggest reasons this is a 5-star review. Impeccable service, friendly advice when we asked for it, and just the most courteous, yet down to earth attitude we may have ever come across. Thanks for treating us so well! The food! We started off with the mussels as an appetizer. It was my husbands first time trying mussels (Ive loved them since I first had mussels years ago), and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. The complimentary bread, too, was great. (Grant asked if we wanted more bread to eat with the leftover mussel broth. How thoughtful!)I had the marscarpone and artichoke tortellini for my entree (Tortelloni ai Carciofi). Even though I was already feeling full from all the mussels and bread Id eaten, I was able to eat every bite! I didnt want any to go to waste; it was very good. Flavorful, well balanced, and delicious. I was surprised that I could eat every bite, because usually dishes with cheese feel heavy, but it was light enough. Maybe thats why they bring out just 8 tortellini on a plate. Basically, it was absolutely perfect for me and left me very happy and satisfied. My husband had the Pappardelle al Sugo d Antara (pappardelle pasta with braised duck ragu). He enjoyed his dish, which was a bit larger than mine, and was able to bring leftovers home.Even though we were almost full, we decided to spring for dessert, especially after hearing the gelato options that were available! We decided on a sampling of three flavors. (You can get three for $10.) Belgian chocolate, cheesecake with graham cracker and strawberry topping, and vanilla wafer with cooked banana topping. Okay. Never had I ever shhd someone while taking a bite of something before, but thats exactly what happened when I tasted the cheesecake gelato! Absolute heaven! The spitting image of cheesecake in gelato form. The vanilla wafer gelato tasted just like banana pudding, and the Belgian chocolate was a great rich dark chocolate with the balanced bitterness. Amazing and definitely worth the stuffed stomach feeling we had when we left.Absolutely loved our experience, really appreciated the complimentary valet parking, cant recommend Grant highly enough, and looking forward to trying more from the menu! Thanks for a great time!
Terrible experience tonight! We had a 9pm reservation and were seated promptly on the patio.Given the current world we are living in (ie Covid), I was very observant to their supposed sanitation protocols- our waiter was “wearing” a mask pulled down to his mouth and not wearing gloves. I did observe the other wait staff on the patio wearing full masks and gloves. Still we chose to stay because I’ve dined at Sotto Sotto many times before and it’s always been a pleasant experience (not tonight!).My wine glass, bottle of San Pellegrino, bread plate and our food plates were all delivered to us by the waiter not wearing proper PPE.After the meals were brought to our table the waiter disappeared! We were both out of wine & Diet Coke. The waitress serving the other patio tables was always there helping them but our waiter was MIA.We waited for about 15mins until finally giving up and going to the hostess stand to ask for the check. I spoke to the manager to share our experience and his response was “sorry we are short staffed.”
The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. Fresh and tasty. The wine and champagne were perfect too. Very romantic. I gave it a 4 star because the owner of the establishment was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. For this reason I will not recommend it to anyone.
Legitimately the best pasta I have ever had. Both mine and my wifes dishes were perfect. Got us in on a busy night without a reservation to celebrate a birthday and anniversary, thanks for that so much! I honestly would stop over in Atlanta again just for that Michelangelo dish.
While we didnt embrace the menu as we normally do when trying restaurants for the first time, we ordered a bottle of wine and an entree. My wine was flavorful and vegetarian entree was tasty. I sampled a few other dishes from my table and was impressed with the flavors. Ask the waiter for dishes the restaurant is known for and order that dish. While the food was well-prepared, I was not wowed by the overall dining experience.
Absolutely delicious meal. I had a endive and raddicio salad for an appetizer. The mushroom risotto was perfectly creamy and had lots of variety of mushroom. For dessert, I had the chocolate soup. This was super rich and creamy. The banana pudding gelato was also amazing!! Definitely need to make a reservation, but absolutely worth a visit!!
I have been going to Sotto Sotto’s for almost 20 years and I have never been disappointed. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Eric the bartender is the best and has been there since the beginning. And most importantly, the pasta is made fresh and everything on the menu tastes great.
The food is delicious, however the seating is a bit tight (it feels like they crammed in as many tables as possible - which you know means its popular, but it made me feel a little claustrophobic). The vibe is a little more mature than some of the nearby restaurants, so its nice for a slower-paced dinner, especially if youre looking to spend time with family/friends and eat several courses.Theyve got valet which is apparently supposed to be free, however we were charged because there was a festival going on nearby, so make sure to have some cash on hand.
Wow, was very impressed with the food here. Im not much of a foodie but we heard about this place and went for Valentines Day. All of the dishes were so savory, my goodness. Definitely coming back to try more of the menu. Thanks for the great service and amazing dinner!
A group of us visited Sotto Sotto for a special event & we could not have been more pleased. We were a friendly, fiesty bunch, and our waiter didnt skip a beat! He totally kept up with us and helped answer all of our questions, make wine and food suggestions, as well as cater to those of us with special dietary needs. The food was beyond fantastic, the wine superb, service phenomenal, and atmosphere cosy & comfortable. I would highly recommend for either a group special event or for an intimate date night.
The gnocchi is the most unbelievable thing you can ever try. It melts in your mouth. Veal parm is bone-in, pounded perfectly. The tomatoe sauce has the right amount of tang and sweetness. I have never had a bad meal here, coursed out and time out to perfection. Very old school, New York feel to the restaurant.
Balsamic risotto with carmelized onions is to die for. Ribeye steak was incredibly tender and wonderfully tasty. That being said, while we didnt have reservations, admittedly, the estimate of a 45 minute wait was not close. Took more like an hour and a half. I know its hard to estimate these things, but would be nice to get some reassurance and apologies when they are off by that much. Other than that, great food, great bartender, wonderful ambience.
Ill start with the food is great! Service and front of house need a lot of work. Ive had the same experience repeatedly. The bartender is rude and not attentive even when its not busy. As soon as it gets busy however, I believe its managements fault for staffing one bartender to take care of the guests at the bar and fulfill all the servers orders for guests at tables in the dining room. At that point the bartender becomes even less attentive to the guests at the bar. The manager is probably the laziest of the group. He stands there and does nothing. He could easily get behind the bar and pour some wine to speed things up. Instead he puts his hand In a jar at the counter and eats what looks like cookies! And just pages back and forth doing nothing remotely like managing. They need to replace some of this staff that has gotten complacent and feels they deserve the job, yet want to do nothing close to customer service. For being a high end restaurant, service is key in addition to food quality and you should have both.
My wife and I decided to try out Sotto Sotto for our anniversary. We had just left the SunDial having a couple of drinks and had a great. Then we showed up to Sotto Sotto and didnt have the same experience. This is definitely a Local place. Meaning if you are not a regular, youll be treated as such. The food was pretty good and so was the wine but for the prices, you would think you would receive better service from the front.
My husband and I just returned from a trip to Italy and missed the pasta there. We decided to try Sotto Sotto for the first time because we heard that they make all their pasta fresh daily. It was wonderful! Even better than some of our spots in Italy. We will go back.
My wife and I dined at Sotto Sotto last night and had a wonderful experience. Our server (Kristina) took great care in helping us orient the menu options and recommended we consider the truffle specials. Not only did we consider them, we had all three courses highlighting the truffle experience! From the carpaccio to the lasagna to the scallops the taste was exquisite. Thank you chef Riccardo for sharing your passion and knowledge of a delicious taste we had not experienced before We will return with friends..
Overall, I cant wait to come back (99% for the duck, haha). Prices here are reasonable. And the restaurant is super cozy. We were seated right next to the fireplace. Id recommend making reservations if you can. Its not a huge restaurant and does get reasonably crowded during dinner, even on weekdays. But youve got to try this place if you havent already. Its amazing!!
Great food, intimate atmosphere, attentive wait staff!Went to Sotto Sotto last night and had the Risotto Frutti Di Mare (seafood risotto). The dish was amazing, but be warned it is rich in flavor so if you like boring or tasteless food you should seek another restaurant. That dish is now one of my favorites and they actually give you a good amount of seafood in the dish unlike some other places that might have a similar dish. My waitress was excellent and I never felt like I had to wait on anything.Atmosphere is business casual to moderately dressy. The valet is behind the building so if it is raining bring an umbrella with you to walk to the front. Self parking is limited because of the area (Inman Park) so valet is best. If at all possible make reservations early because their are only a limited number of tables and this place is a local gem. This is a great place for a romantic night out or special occasion with someone special.
Pretty underwhelmed and actually kind of annoyed by this place. Service, aside from our actual server, seemed solid, warm, and genuine, but unfortunately our server was incredibly pretentious, even while completely flubbing through our basic questions and failing to explain any of the specials, which we learned from overhearing other tables’ servers. Food was paced very quickly, such that our table was literally overflowing, yet drinks took eons and our waiter could never be found for new orders or refills. Food was entirely average. Won’t be back.
Anyone looking for something new for date night, anniversary or just a nice dinner definitely should try out this Inman Park gem.One of the few top notch restaurants in Atlanta that has remained pretty consistent over the years. Wine is great, food is amazing. Some things a bit experimental but overall its great.Kinda hard to find but thats part of the appeal. This is not the type of restaurant for anyone looking to hose down 2400 kcal of food. The portions for most dishes are small for most 200lbs+ Americans, but for the audience it caters to the portions are perfect.
My fiancé and I went to sotto sotto on our date night Wednesday evening around 10:15pm. It was an amazing experience. The service was excellent and the food no words to describe how good it was. We didnt try the wines but the antipasto, lasganette, and gelato were amazing. Cant not wait to come back. If you love Italian and want some really good authentic Italian sotto sotto is the please to go.
My wife and I have been going to Sotto Sotto for almost 20 years. We started by going on a date, have taken friends and clients, and, most recently, with our 10 year old son.Save for the first time we went I have always had the Caesar salad and the lasagna (on the menu: lasagnette alla Bolognese). Dont even think about comparing it to any lasagna that you have ever had in the past. It is prepared somewhat like spaghetti with a béchamel and meat sauce, then covered with cheese and then broiled. It is divine. My wife also almost always has the same, so that tells you how good it is.That said, this restaurant is no one-trick pony. Over the years, our guests have had fish, risotto, beef, and other pastas, all of which have never disappointed. Our son has had the risotto with onions and balsamic which is wonderful. My wife loves the mussels appetizer. They both love the chocolate soup with hazelnuts and croutons, although over the years the serving size has gotten smaller. Finally, the wine list is superb, although it is written almost entirely in Italian, so I typically ask for help with the choices. One would think after all this time I would have learned more and wouldnt need help, but when you trust the recommendation of the server, it is unnecessary. We wholeheartedly recommend Sotto Sotto!
This is the place to go when celebrations are in order. In fact, my wife and I made sure this was on the itenerary now that we live in CA. Not only will you get Italy quality pasta paired with your wine of choice. You will also get fantastically attentive service. Speaking of the food, do yourself a favor and order the Lasanette with a glass of the Il Bruciato and finish with the visually impressive and delicious pan a cotta. Thanks to Chef Ullio for the incredible food and to James E for making the evening one I will remember for many years to come.
Sotto Sotto is really so nice they named it twice. I havent had a bad experience here to date. Excellent service, beyond amazing food, and drinks that leave little to be desired. I love the Mushroom Risotto and Limoncello. TRUST ME, youll still have room for their amazing Ravioli. It is pricey but you get what you pay for!

2022-06-16Very upscale Italian restaurant in Atlanta! We ordered the Cacio de Pepe, Fettuccine Alfredo, Tagliatelle ai Funghi, and the Caesar Salad. We were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes, which were more than plentiful, and the flavors! The pasta was cooked to a perfect aldente, and we were very happy with our order!

2022-04-02We had Sotto Sotto on our list of places to check out when in Atlanta and it didnt disappoint. The service was warm and welcoming. The food was excellent and the drinks 😇 were delicious. Great options for vegetarians too. They had ample seating but we decided to get cozy in a corner of the bar. We also liked how the manager checked in and made us feel welcomed.

2022-03-04Extremely disappointed. We were so excited to come in and try Sotto Sotto, but unfortunately had a terrible dining experience. We waited 45 minutes for our entrees to hit the table. They BOTH came out borderline cold and without the protein they should of came with.BOTH dishes were extremely uncooked..the pasta was hard. I ordered my entree with chicken, and they brought it out with a peice of chicken the size of a quarter. My fiances entree (clam dish) came out with empty shells. Its almost like they just threw empty shells in as a garnish. It wasnt even like the clams separated when cooking..they were no where to be found in the dish. The manager came over and had no solution. They took the entrees off the bill in the end, but never once did anyone offer us something on the house or even a dessert. We left hungry which should never happen at as a diner. The valet tried over charging us too which we ended up catching him in a lie.I will say our server was professional and kind. He mentioned he was new. He also mentioned the chef was off today and the sous were running the kitchen. I was expecting more from management being our first time there and being it was our anniversary. The best part of our meal was the salad and antipasta.I hate leaving reviews like this, but I needed to speak up on this situation so the GM and executive chef can see it.

2022-05-18The portions are not huge but the food and service is fantastic. We didn’t get to sit out on the patio but it looked really pretty out there. This is a great Italian spot!!

2022-02-26Had a horrible experience at this place. Did not feel welcomed at all. We were sat at a table in the corner and it took the waiter 30 mins to even acknowledge our presence (they werent crowed at all, you could pretty much pick your own table it was so empty). When he finally arrived, he never introduced himself, he stood so far away from us that we darn near had to yell for him to hear us (maybe he thought we werent the type of ppl he wanted to serve). He never even bothered to ask what we wanted to drink. When he finally showed back up to our table about 40 mins after placing our orders, we asked if they had sweet tea and he said, No. We have can sodas. His service was so horrible that we ended up having to wave down another waitress who in-fact said they DO have tea, and she went and got us some. There was a party of 4 sitting next to us and they spent about $100 on alcohol alone (I was ease dropping on their conversation); they had the pleasure of several different employees visiting their table to ensure they were enjoying their experience. At one point, even the manager came over and mingled with them. The food was decent but the way they made us feel, wasnt even worth the one star I gave them (out of courtesy). Needless to say, I WILL NEVER spend my hard earned money here again... I was so tempted to just get up and walk out, because I felt so aggravated and unwelcome. I hate leaving negative reviews but I have to say, Sotto Sotto SUCKED!

2022-06-13It was our first time here. I love Italian food! However this place was very disappointing. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo ( it was brought to me cold, the Alfredo sauce was watered down) I returned it. My spouse got a shrimp pasta (the noodles were semi hard/undercooked, the shrimp was good). The bread was stale (very chewy/hard to cut and swallow). The Caesar salad was very good (that’s the one thing we requested doubles of). I then order fried calamari and that was the best I’ve had (it was hot, spicy and well seasoned). As for our drinks, my lemonade was good but my spouses orange juice wasn’t expired (it was very sour) the waiter apologized multiple times. Desert was really good though, I had the caramel flan . The tables are extremely close together, and the noise is unbearable. None the less, our waiter was very compassionate and prompt with our service. The greeting at the door was very professional as well. It was worth a try for the first time, but definitely not a second.Owner replied below and said they didn’t have calamari or a shrimp pasta (yes y’all did) on January 28th that’s exactly what we ordered!!! I had a spicy fried calamari appetizer , the shrimp pasta wasn’t Alfredo and my caramel glazed desert. Due to the food being expired or not edible we did not have to pay for the shrimp pasta (free), the drinks (free) and my desert was (FREE).

2022-05-20Sotto Sotto is certainly a dont miss Bucket List restaurant in Atlanta. It is one of the best in the city. The owner is also exceptionally welcoming and you can tell the restaurant is truly a labor of love and hard work. Kudos to the kitchen staff for creating each dish to perfection. The wine list is good and approachable and the olive oils are outstanding. Great bar scene as well

2022-03-22I regularly eat at this restaurant and I’m never disappointed. The service is great, they are always extremely welcoming. The wine list is amazing, there’s a great selection to chose from. Their pasta is delicious and cooked to perfection. It’s a great spot for date nights! I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family!

2021-07-07Service, food, wine, atmosphere, and overall quality is incredibly exceptional. I’ve dined here for many years and met regulars who’ve been coming here for 20 years! WOW. And they always have nice things to say.My friends came in from NYC and had a grand time. Our table was approached by several different waitstaff dropping off food, refilling water/wine. It was nice. We decided to share all 6 courses and try it all, did not leave disappointed. You MUST add anchovies on the Caesar! It’s life changing, we got extra for the table. The polletto al limone was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had and the steak was tender. We had 3 bottles of wine for our table, a sparkling rose, the gattinara 100% Nebbiolo and a 2012 Valpolicella Superiore Dal Forno. I appreciate knowing the food is of great organic quality, but the continuous kindness and service from the entire staff is what keeps me coming back. Do not let these other reviews keep you from trying this place for yourself. There are many about a completely different restaurant in Canada. Cheers!
