This is one of the best dives in AugustaThe cheeseburger is stupendous. My dad and I came here for lunch and bonded over a fishbowl of beer and loved the whole experience. I will definitely come back for a.burger next time I visit my folks in Augusta.
First time in Augusta wanted to try something local and we were not disappointed!!! Onion rings were delicious and burgers were made to order - hot and delicious 😋

The Sports Center is a local dive for sure but the staff was friendly down to earth people. Their hambugers are well known and now I know why, the burgers are really good. They offer a simple homemade type burger with the option of grilled onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and condiments thats it. The burger was moist, juicy, and very tasty definitely would go their again for a burger. Also I got the half & half which is a mix of frys and onion rings, both were good. However, beware they are a cash only business no debit cards and they allow smoking inside. So outside dinning or carryout are only option here for me.
Heard so many great things about the place. Sadly, the burger was so burnt that it has a crunchy black crust on the bottom. Wasnt worth the hour and 15 minute wait...
Waited an hour and thirty minutes for food, waitress was not attentive. ATM wasn’t working so I had to have my boyfriend leave and go to another one. Food was okay, nothing special.
Its not fast food people! Service was good, the food takes longer because its actual food and not a McDonalds drive thru..The burger I had was excellent! The fryer was down that day so no fries, but Ill be back! Staff was cool, I dig the decor and overall vibe of the place. Bring cash!

Throwback atmosphere with food as good as you remember too! If you want a comfortable, no fuss, no hurry, old school place to grab a burger and some onion rings, this is it. Just be sure to bring cash.
My family and I came in after we visited the fair as were passing through and Ms Shannon kept the drinks coming and Mr Travis threw down some of the best foods that I had in awhile. I highly recommend this establishment and will definitely return on my way back in Augusta.

I think its the best burger in town. My friend and I are for just a little over $20 including the tip. We each had a cheeseburger and fries with sweet tea.

This is a great spot for a burger and their onion rings are out of this world. They always have reasonably priced beers on draft. The staff are as friendly as they come. This is a greasy, smoky, every man environment, so if thats not your style Id avoid it.

So, this place is a mixed bag. There were a group of normal looking dudes, guys that looked like they had been playing golf earlier, a guy who looked like Dusty Hills grandfather, and a group of chainsmoking ladies. The food was pretty great. The menu is simple, and thats fine. Hands down, some of the best onion rings Ive ever had. Aint nothing racist about those onion rings. The burger was pretty slam. The fries were alright. This place does not take credit cards. That sign was on the front door next to the no smoking sign. I guess the no smoking sign was a joke? The no credit cards one is not.
Please dont read this review. Im only repeating what everyone else said. If you dont want the best cheeseburger in town, then move along. Must love onion rings! The beer is always cold. And when I say cold, I mean push the frost out of the way cold. So, if youve already read how great the food is, then you dont need to read this one. Im just agreeing.

Good burgers and beer! Not much seating. Seemed understaffed when we were there, but bartender went out of his way to take care of us. Wasnt crowded but seems like it should be as good as the burgers were.
This is one of my favorite burger places. The wait is kinda long but well worth it! The onion rings are fantastic and probably the best Ive ever had! The atmosphere is great because the TV has NASCAR on and there are plenty of rough but friendly people playing pool.

Cool little laid back place. Good food, great people, 3 pool tables and friendly accommodating staff. Kathy was our waitress and she was simply amazing! I needed to charge my phone and she looked all around and found one and then even watched my phone to make sure it wasnt messed with even though it was supposed to be her day off. Definitely will be back!

Low key bar that welcomes everyone. Come in your coveralls, coat and tie, jeans & t-shirt, or dressed up for a concert downtown. Fantastic burgers. Dont miss out on the Monday & Wednesday specials. Steaks and pork chops are all large and cooked perfectly. Most importantly, cold beer on tap and sports always on the TV.
Ceiling is half done one side is in really bad shape mold eat. They had no chili for the hot dogs and no wine I asked for either. Burger was good could use some season. Really wanted the gut buster hotdog its our fav

Man what you talking about Willis!!! Its a dive diner but damn is the food good. If your looking for fast go elsewhere. Fresh ground hamburger for burgers and homemade onions are favorites, Monday night is something like pork chops, carrot souffle, and cabbage. Wednesday is steak night. They have pool tables and a few video games.. Mr. Bob will meet you at the door and its a very blunt atmosphere (I like it)!
The Sports Center, by far, has got the best cheeseburgers and onions rings Ive ever had in Augusta. And the coldest beer in ever. The folks there are so kind and as hard-working as anyone could be. So when I think of Cheeseburger, I think SportsCenter. I challenge you to give them a try, you will be back.

Food wasnt really that good and place could use renovations...waitress didnt give me my fries and when I asked does meal come with fries she said yes but didnt bring them because I didnt ask..my friends wings were a little pink by the bone...I would not go back

Waited over an hour for burgers and wings at lunch. Tap beer was not good our whole group switched to bottles after the first round. Flies everywhere. Would not recommend.
Took over an hour to get served and we got the impression that if we had ordered a drink that it would be faster. Burger was not built well and just a choke burger, dry and not that good. That order took 40 minutes.

As soon as you walk in you smell the burgers on the grill and the tunes on the jukebox. Beers are kept cold in the frosted fish bowls and Miss Leslie is always a delight. Super affordable and full of character. My favorite place in Augusta.

Im originally from Pennsylvania. I was in Augusta, GA and I had a downright horrible (not from Sports Center, and I dont remember where) cheesesteak. The next day I asked a taxi driver to take me to wherever I could get a good cheesesteak sandwich. He had no clue where to go, but told me he *did* know where I could get a great cheeseburger, then dropped me off at the Sports Center Restaurant. That was in 1994, to this day I consider that to be one of the best burgers, and more importantly the absolute best onion rings, Ive ever eaten. Twenty years later I still crave them, and if I ever get back to Augusta this will be the first meal that I eat.

Sports Center Restaurant is an enjoyable downhome diner taste. SCR has been around in Augusta for years and it’s incrible to be amongst people who have eaten here since the 60s. The food is cheap and the taste is AMAZING! I’ll be back!

Burgers are ok. They smoke inside. You smell like grease and cigarettes when you leave. Place is dirty. Not sure how they pass health inspections.

2022-04-05If you have never had the experience of having one of their WORLD FAMOUS Cheeseburgers, you dont know what you are missing! Nothing better than having a fresh, juicy burger with a heaping helping side of fries from here and being able to wash it down with an ice cold Coca-Cola.Make sure you take cash, no cards but they have am ATM on site (located near the pool tables).Bring your friends and family and if you think you are brave enough - order your burger as a DOUBLE! They will try to talk you out of it because it is so dang big, but give it a try!! You WILL NOT be disappointed!!

Ive been eating here since i was a kid and the food has never changed, never frozen ground beef everything is fresh, i got french fries but their hand cut onion rings are amazing!! Definately check this place out if you havent. Cash only also so make sure you have cash.

2022-06-15It was our first visit, but deffinently not our last! We had a great time & met some new friends! The food was good, cold beer, ,and very reasonably priced. It was like finding a gem..We needed a break from the hospital room. My daughter and I even played a few games of pool.

2019-05-15I love the Sports Center. A down home place with down home people. The Best homemade hamburgers and onion rings. The service is always Super. Cant beat a Large Goblet of Killians or PBR with a hot juicy cheeseburger with grilled onions. Check out steak night and the pork chops. Always fresh and great service.
