This place is amazing. The staff is friendly, they have a great butcher shop, they have cooked and ready to eat ribs, bbq, Brunswick stew, etc. Sometimes I come by just to look around. Im so glad they opened at this location.
Best sausage in the state perhaps the Southeast. Very glad they are opening a store in Jefferson as it’s closer to me. I’ll drop by this one when I’m in or near Athens. Very nice and professional workers. Good hot prepared food and other meats too. Kinda like a country Whole Foods. A+
Such a fun, unexpected find. I love this store. Pricey, but so unique and southern. I didnt want to leave! Only open til 8 pm.
They got good food, but only $50 on the diesel pump means I don’t stop there anymore. 10 gallons at a swipe doesn’t get me to the house and back.
Biscuits are delicious!! The butcher will cut marrow bones for you if you want them sliced lengthwise.
The meat here is very good as well as the BBQ. A bit of a tourist atmosphere but still friendly people who work there. The only things missing would be some music and a BBQ pit to enjoy.
Our family stopped here while on our way to Athens. They have ready made food, some groceries and even neat gifts.
Striplings is our favorite place! We go almost every weekend to pick out fresh meats for grilling. I meal prep every week and I am starting to only want meat from here. Period. Its so fresh and yummy. My husband introduced me to this amazing store a while back and it will be a store that our children will grow up knowing as well.I CANNOT WAIT to get me a steak this weekend! 😋❤️
They have great breakfast. Great cuts of beef. We love to get steaks from here for special occasions. It’s always crowded because everyone loves it. Only thing is it’s a little pricy. But worth it.
Once upon a time there was an ideal that, “if you were going to do it, then do it right.” I don’t know that this was necessarily a southern thing, but proudly, I’ll protest, we’ve held that ideal the longest. If you haven’t visited, then do. You won’t be disappointed.
My favorite local store and I cant live without their biscuits!I first went to avoid driving all the way to the city after hearing about their great meats for small groceries and now go nearly everyday! - for gas, biscuits, awesome chicken, Brunswick stew, locally baked breads, and sauces like my all time favorite Tiger Sauce!They even started ordering the larger bottles of my favorite sauces for me after finding out that I couldnt find it anywhere else - THAT itself would keep me coming back aloneBut Striplings has grown to be my gas station, general store, light groceries and take-out restaurant all in one. and thats not even mentioning the great people who work there!sincerely,#BlotterMonkey
The hot sausage would kill a normal man. Fortunately because of years of living on Indian food and roadkill Im pretty much immune.I use the hot sausage as the base for my Arrabbiata sauce that should honestly be in the Smithsonian or on the space station, its really that good.
I love this store! Love that they sell a lot of local products. The jams & jellies are delicious as well as the sausage. I don’t buy my sausage from anywhere else now. The hot food counter is really good too - always friendly, quick service. My only complaint is you need to be in Oglethorpe county too ;). It’s a 30 min drive for me but worth it. One day I’m going to make it there during breakfast hours so I can try the biscuits!
We went to striplings on the way back from Athens to Alpharetta. We bought a 20oz NY strip steak and some of their fresh sausage selections. The steak was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect texture. It was clear to us that it was high quality. We tried the jalapeño cheese sausage on the grill and it was delicious! I would highly recommend Striplings. If you’ve never been there before, it’ll make all of your stereotypes of a gas station grocery store false!!!
Love Stripplings! It’s so unique. I find items in there that I wouldn’t find anywhere else. Love the hometown feel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The butcher shop is very impressive...the size of the steaks and jumbo shrimps are a must see! It’s such a charming store. Definitely worth going...always a pleasure.
Best General Store I’ve been to! Amazing staff, awesome “goodies “, wonderful meats. Please drop in for a visit. You won’t be disappointed!I had the pleasure of having Miss Julia as my cashier. What a lovely young lady. So glad she’s there! Definitely made my visit even nicer.
Its a great place to purchase any kind of meat, fish ect. And a convenient place to grab little things you may have forgotten at the grocery store. The prices are extremely high but I guess thats the price you pay for a convenient store. The cashiers are always nice and friendly.
Waiting in line to get something to eat and the lady fixing plates just completely ignored me and went to the man standing behind me. I went to the front counter to pay for the drink that I got and said something to the lady up front. Never once did she apologize or ask if I still wanted something. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS STORE EVER AGAIN!! Staff is always rude!
My cousin got married yesterday and the caterer did not bring mashed potatoes (the bride’s favorite food) and instead brought extra cole slaw. Someone recommended calling Striplings. THEY WERE FABULOUS. They were able to prepare enough for 80 people and had it delivered (so I wouldn’t have to miss the wedding ) in 45 MINUTES!! I was blown away by the service they provided in such a pinch. Thank you so much!! You have a new customer. 😃
The restroom was clean, the steaks looked good and the hot dogs were awesome.
This is our local go to butcher! Weve been shopping here for years and cant rave enough about the quality, selection and service. Helpful and friendly staff. Coming here all these years has always been a enjoyable and unique experience. Treat yourself to a nice country drive and enjoy the traditional Georgia hospitality, you wont be disappointed.
We love the selection and prices for the quality of both the meats and hot dishes when we are ready to eat right then. This is a favorite stop any day of the week!

Always an outstanding experience to stop at Striplings! Their breakfast biscuits are the best around and their selection of local and Georgia made products are the best I’ve seen- wonderful selection of unique gifts too. They have the best meat around and I like the fact that you can choose the exact cuts you want from the case. The store is always spotless and the staff is friendly and helpful- it’s no wonder that the parking lot is always full!
I have been shopping here since they opened, but what happened today is what the world should be all about. Evidentally I dropped my wallet in the parking lot about an hour ago. Luckily someone was kind enough to turn it in and a manager delivered it to my house about 15 minutes ago, This has saved my day because our family is leaving on Vacation in the morning and this would have delayed it for sure. Glad to see that there is hope in this great country. I will make a point to thank this man every time I visit this store, pleas shop local.
Always the worst customer service. I refuse to come here anymore and recommend the same to everyone else. It’s overpriced food for the exact same stuff you can get elsewhere. The bratty little girls running the registers need training and to recognize customers keep a business going. Fresh Air BBQ has much better stew anyway!
Cant say enough about what this great little country store offers. Although I miss my fountain tea, all of their products have been great quality and tastey.
Striplings has things you cant find other places. To name a few , we especially like their Wild Maine Blueberry & Strawberry Jam. The best New York Strip steaks weve ever tasted ! The people working there are so friendly and welcome you back.
Very friendly staff, several of the ladies who work there remember me by name, ask about my kids, just genuinely GOOD folks, they carry Journey Juice made in Athens, that stuff saves me , esp the Beet Zinger, monster energy drinks are like $1 cheaper than Racetrac, great assortment of snacks.Young lady at checkout listened like a friendly bartender after I got in a wreck not far from the store. Very nice staff at this location.
My family loves the Brunswick stew. The steaks and brisket we buy for special dinners are very tender and worth every penny. This is the only local place where I can find Stubs honey pecan bbq sauce. Worth the drive from S. Walton Co.
Good tasting food to go . Whether is for brks,lunch or for dinner.Monday-friday morning trafic is not as pleasant since is at one of major intersection n during school season . Students do like getting breakfast here. Prices are average for the most part in both for fuel or food. Good for items or food suveniers for visitors passing by.
Its pretty sad you can get a bacon egg and cheese with grits for $3.99 but if you want bacon eggs and cheese with gravy oh hell thats thats almost $7 because you dont want grits you want gravy its $7 freaking ridiculous then on top of that you dont get the cheese I wont never come back here again wow
A service meat case not to be found anywhere in this area. Their AM biscuit bar is breakfast Heaven, theres grits too and they arent stingy with the butter. If you want fat in your sausage you will have to add it yourself, theirs are lean and quite a variety , heat or not always available, fresh , smoked, links . Theres not a BBQ resturant around with better Q and Stew, fresh & hot or frozen. The produce department is well stocked, and gifts and recipe books too. Dont miss this store.
This rating is for the hot food bar. Unreasonably over priced flavorless food. Everything is $6.99 A POUND. Doesnt matter if you get chicken breast, green beans, fries, chicken strips, and, wait for it,...........the sauce to dip you chicken strips in. Yes, I said sauce. Ridiculous. Stay away from the food bar and get yourself a pack of crackers to hold you over until you can get somewhere you dont need to take out a small loan to feed that hollow feeling in your stomach.

All I can say is Striplings is the greatest! Cooked food, off the chain good. The fresh meat selections are cant miss no matter what you choose. I grill a steak every week, I am HOOKED! LOL Do yourself a favor and stop in. You will be back!
Drove over there, 70 miles round-trip, to buy some of their awesome sausages. Found out the next day that my 6 pounds of heavy sage sausage was NOT sage at all. Very disappointed 😞
This ain’t just a gas station- if you haven’t stopped you are missing out on a secret that is getting out!The best meat (butts, steaks, sausage) and seafood counter (crab, lobster, scallops, shelled oysters) assorted fish - fresh tuna, snapper, mahi, catfish, heck, even dawgfish (but, I’d double check on that), many other fish options by special order) in town. The store is well stocked with gift items, sundries, desserts, jams/ jellies, sauces, curated foods, cheeses (made to order cheese trays as gifts), wines, local craft beer, local Georgia vendor items that are hard to find, novelties and much more. You must try the hot food bar (specials change daily).You really have to see it to believe it. A hidden gem. You will not meet better people- a professional staff that many call family. Very interesting store full of unique items. 4 out of five because we ate some the deli food and it was greasy.
I bought 2 packs of ground beef for chilli on 11-5-18, get home and it was spoiled. $5 a lb. should be enough profit to afford to throw out the old and rotted meat. Ground beef is a one day product!Wow, you offer me more ground beef. I try not to repeat my mistakes.
Our favorite roadside stop. The best meats and produce around. We travel 25 miles regularly for the pulled pork, jerky, and ribs. Awesome staff!

Rating due to recent policy change only...Well, I have more or less been a regular AM customer since 2013. I get my coffee at Striplings every morning during the week (literary every morning) and I get my breakfast there many mornings a week as well. As a shade tree environmentalist I try to reduce my use of single-use packaging such as styrofoam and plastic containers and bottles. That being said, Striplings new policy of customers not being able to us personal travel mugs for coffee is a deal breaker; it would cause me to use too styrofoam cups on far too regular of a basis and that I cant do. I assume that this policy is based on not being able to regulate the cup sizes that people bring in and not the health concerns which are posted on the little yellow signs. Too bad. I will continue to get meat there on occasion and my daughter does love their Brunswick Stew.
Masks seem to be optional and clearly aren’t enforced. The manager standing behind the register wasn’t wearing one and the woman behind the meat counter had hers below her chin. Scary place.
Superior products and great tips, especially about grilling their fresh hand made sausages. Dunwoody has nothing to compare to Striplings.Love every visit !

Very rude person on register, I went up to the register to pay for my refill I didnt raise any problem with the price that she asked or anything like that but out of nowhere she just said that you cannot get refills in this store andwas very very rude so I am posting this hoping that other people are not treated like I was. There policy does not Trump the law.

Worst food Ive ever bought from a Country store. Cant believe Im saying this because the store I ate at in Albany Ga is absolutely great. How can these stores share the same brand name but be totally different.
They raise their own pigs. Best pork Ive ever had. They dont need chemicals to preserve the meat.

The sausage is great... the people who work the butcher counter could not be nicer... HOWEVER,,,, the people up front are very unfriendly...... and when you spend $75 bucks.... and the cashier chats with someone else on another register the entire time she is ringing up your purchases.. then hands you the receipt without a word.. it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.... customer service is what brings people back.... what generates more business..... you sure do NOT get it at the front counter

I stop here on my way to Athens, not anymore. I got 2 biscuits, 2 drinks, and hash browns that were cold and stale for $15.

The obviously artisan Andoullie sausage is terrific, nearly indisguisuable from authentic Cajun sausage.

2022-04-16This was my second visit. First time I bought the hot pan sausage and it was perfect. Today I bought the hot pan sausage. Now I must say I love spicy food extremely spicy is fine by me. Carolina reapers no problem! Holy cow who made this batch of hot pan sausage? Spicy is an understatement. My eyes were watering while I cooked it to make sausage gravy. I even cut it with maple syrup but it was hottest sausage Ive ever had! Im gonna go back to get the mild pan sausage and mix them together should be perfect . They raise their own hogs and the quality is second to none.its a 25 mile drive for me well worth it.highly recommended

2022-04-19We have always loved Striplings but this weekend they went above and beyond in their customer service. We ordered food for our Easter dinner and came home with the wrong type of meat. After I called to ask about it, they drove the correct thing out to our house which is about 30 min away. We were completely blown away and so thankful!! Customers for life. ❤️

2022-01-20Great food for breakfast and lunch. They are out of half and half basically every other day. As someone who likes it in my coffee, I had to stop going here in the morning because they are always out. Yep, a general store out of half and half.UPDATE. Again out of half and half. They told me I couldnt use a personal cup (24oz tervis) to get coffee. The lady was extremely rude and Ill never spend a dime at this store ever again. I come here every day and have spent thousands of dollars in this store.

2021-06-23This is a really unique place! I recommend stopping by here if you’re on your way in or out of Athens. They have a really good selection of meats and local goods. Their staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Gas prices also are competitive with other gas stations around.

2019-10-17Great general store with local sweets, jams, sauces etc. They have full line of produce, meats, dry goods as well as a great lunch/snack bar. Very friendly staff but the produce price reflects the unique local selection.

2020-07-18One of the best butcher shops I’ve been to in a long time. There meat selection is excellent. Picked up some smoked pork chops when I seen there prime NY strip. The best strips I’ve had ever. I live 45 miles away but its worth the trip for that quality of beef. Everything the carry is top notch. There staff is very helpful and friendly.

2022-02-06Stopped in today and purchased three filet mignon for dinner. The butchers were very friendly and patient with the patrons. The meat market was very busy when we were there. I also purchased asparagus and the sausage and cheese stuffed jalapeños. Started the dinner process with the stuffed jalapeños and they were great. Grilled the filets and let them rest while grilling the asparagus. The filet and asparagus were awesome! I highly recommend Striplings for your meat market needs!
