We had a fabulous dinner at Sugo last night. The cocktails were yummy, food was delicious (as always) and the service was amazing. We were a large group and had many separate checks, but we were treated very warmly and were made to feel welcomed (not always the case these days). The owners even came by several times to make sure we were happy and having a good time. I highly recommend for a nice evening out.
Good food with unique flair. A variety of flavors and unique tastes. Recommendations by manager were spot on. The meatball is good. Staff is very friendly. They Stopped to check in a bit too much for me but then again we wanted for nothing.Italian cuisine is not my favorite but I genuinely enjoyed every thing that was put in front of me.They say it is Greek as well. I didn’t really see Greek food on the menu. If you’re looking for a great gyro, this will be a miss. Other little thing would be that they need a little more lighting for my taste.Definitely would recommend and will probably be back
First time dining at Sugo last night and it was a wonderful experience! We made a reservation in advance and everything was ready when we got there. The food was delicious! And the venue is lovely! And the cherry on top was the two owners (husband and wife, I believe). This is a family-run restaurant, and you definitely feel like family! The owners came by to check on us multiple times, gave us food recommendations, chatted with us for a bit - they were so warm and friendly. And they went by every single table doing this. It was such a nice touch! We will be back!
I was here for a school reunion. I dont know what is on their main menu but the food that was served for the reunion was very delicious. A friend of mine, who is vegetarian, was asked if she wanted a nice pasta dish with pesto and vegetables as there wasnt much for her to eat otherwise. She enjoyed her meal and it was lovely the restaurant went out of their way to make sure she had food. The staff were very attentive during the reunion in making sure everyone had what they needed.
My wife and I recently hosted a private wedding rehearsal dinner at Sugo. The entire experience was wonderful. The owner Nancy was very gracious and everyone we worked with was extremely polite, professional and courteous. This was only exceeded by the quality of the food served and the service we were provided during the dinner. Cant compliment this team enough!!! The meatballs are out of this world along with all the other appetizers and the entrees were all exceptional. My wife and I look forward to coming back to eat when next we are in Atlanta.
What a GEM! This was such a pleasant surprise for our dinner OTP! We had the Spanish Octopus and the Meatball Al Sugo (rated top 10 in the USA buy they @foodnetwork for our appraisers. For the main we had Filetto and Shrimp Scampi. The drinks were also amazing! Definitely get a reservation on OpenTable before going. Plenty of parking.
I took my girl out for her birthday and it was our first time at this restaurant. Our server Ms. Jean (sorry if I misspell) was phenomenal. She inform us on the menu thoroughly and was very courteous. Despite servicing multiple tables I always felt like we’re not being ignored. I had the meatball appetizer and it was DELICIOUS. The Filetto Steak was out out of this world. The combination of great staff service and food should not go unnoticed. I will tell all my buddies to stop by and check this place out. 10/10
I can’t recommend this place enough! The flatbread and the hanger steak were some of the best dishes I’ve eaten. This felt like Michelin star quality at an extremely reasonable price. The owners father was extremely personable and helpful. Just an overall awesome experience.
This restaurant was absolutely the best Our server Ms.Jean( sorry if I misspelled your name) was the greatest! I was taken out on a date for my birthday and she added even more happiness with her personality and great conversations with us! 10 out of 10 for the delicious food…and the desserts are worth it 😋😋
Our second visit was even better than the first. Mr. Cartalucci and his team run a fantastic show here, from front to back. We take all of our out-of-town visitors here and will continue to do so. Sugo stands tall above many as a fine dining experience that is still approachable and warm. A+!
This has been my favorite restaurant in Johns Creek since 2007. Everything is made from scratch, including the pasta, from Italy. Tonight my friend and I shared this large Classico salad, each had a pasta special and split a freshly made tirramissou. All were delicious as usual. Each paid $25 including tip. We didnt have anything from the bar but their offerings are complete. I love everything about this place. Reservations are suggested. Some of my favorite dishes are Chicken Pesto, Chicken Carbonara, Shrimp Scampi and the meatball as an appetizer.
My wife and I went here for a date night, just based purely on reviews. This place did not disappoint. We ordered the meatball al sugo, and the hummus to start, followed by the Shrimp Scampi and ending with the Tiramisu. Needless to say there was only one photos, as we couldnt wait to dive in. The food was incredible, and tasted phenomenal. We talked to the owner, and his wife, the wait staff was friendly and energetic.we cant wait to visit again with friends and family!
Experience was great the food was delicious and the love poison drink for our Valentine’s dinner was wonderful and amazing the staff was very nice, friendly and patient with our very large group of 30 people we had been looking for a good Italian restaurant since we moved here 7years ago and Sugo more than met our expectations. We will be back to try more of there 1of a kind dishes.
Absolutely amazing! From the moment you walk through the door, the genuine hospitality greets a very warm welcome and the modern, yet classic at the same time sets a very warm and inviting ambiance that’s upscale, but casual at the same time. The attentive and knowledgeable servers greet you and can make great suggestions for your tastes. The Bacon Wrapped Dates were absolutely amazing! So good that I didn’t have time to get a picture. The signature cocktail list is well curated with the classics and I had the Boulevardier and it’s served with a large square ice cube, which I always prefer. My wife had the Salmon and I had the hangar steak. Both were seasoned and cooked perfectly and absolutely amazing. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! An amazing place for dinner, a date, or any other occasion with great service and great food! From a future regular!
Everyone makes you feel like family here. Food is good. Prices are good. Drinks are fun! I luv this place and will definitely be back. They also have a vegetarian menu and a gluten free menu. Luv luv this place.. Thry also have thier own wine.. Our server Caren was awesome 👌 Family owned.
Sugo is a few minutes away from our home and is my favorite place to dine, but our last visit was disappointing. We made reservations for Thursday evening and I don’t know if they were too busy or just didn’t have enough stuff but it took forever for the food to arrive, my kids were very hungry and I asked the waitress 3 times to bring us extra bread while we were waiting for the food, she never did. I always order the shrimp scampi because I love the spicy pasta , the pasta is special because they make the dough itself spicy. This time the pasta came out with white sauce and not spicy, when I asked the waitress if it’s the pasta I ordered she said they are out of the signature pasta , I would expect her to tell me before the dish was served. For my daughter I ordered from the GF menu pasta with Alfredo sauce, but she received completely different dish, pasta with vegetables and the waitress said that is the gf pasta. My daughter was hungry and decided to keep the dish but it’s wasn’t to her liking and she ended up eating dinner at home.In general the service was very lacking.
Went here for a business dinner and was very surprised at how great the food was. We had a large party so we were able to sample several of the dishes. We had the Meatball which is supposedly Food Network famous. It was great. The Spanish Octopus was a pleasant surprise. It was very good. They smoke it on the Big Green Egg so it had some great flavor to it. The flat breads were fantastic. For my main course I had the scallops. They were great and had some pasta to go along with them. The deserts were very good too. I had the bourbon bread pudding and it was fantastic. Great little Italian restaurant with a very good ambiance. Will def take the wife back here. Came here off of a referral from a friend. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by the owners and hostess. I highly recommend reservations and to get there early. All the reviews were right. The service was A1(better than even Chick FIL A). The menu changes regularly with the staples like the Aunt Lenas chicken and Eggplant parm staying on. They had a pre fix menu but had the regular menu as well.We ordered drinks to start. I had the Basil Mojito and my wife had the Paloma. Both well made and reasonably priced! The bread that comes complementary was amazing...doused in oil and parmesan. We also ordered the arancini or risotto balls and they were so well flavored. Highly recommended app. The Greek Flatbread was like a flavor Emporium with sweet and salty but crispy bites in every bite.I got the Aunt Lenas chicken and my wife got the Eggplant parm that we later found out was the owners Grandmas recipe that you cant get anywhere. The aunt Lenas chicken came with a huge portion of chicken and homemade pasta with cheese and caramelized onions...Id eat that every day. The Eggplant with ricotta and mozzarella was also a really great pick. My friend said she hasnt had a bad dish on the menu. Ill be back for sure.
The family and teams always warm, and make a perfect ambience for dining. Plus, the entire menu items are delicious! If you were home youd lick the dish🤤! Salutes to the Mix Master...cocktails were perfect!!Though normally super scrumptious, the Braciole was too sweet and the bacon wrapped dates were clearly over cooked... greatly disappointed! Sugo, you are still a fav!!..Thx!
As someone who has lived in johns creek and grew up over here this restaurant is soo overhyped. the only thing good is the location and decorations. the food literally tastes like cafeteria school lunch.. i live everyone there and personally know some owners but seriously like some of this stuff tastes frozen
Great atmosphere but two of us had a very disappointing dish.It was sad to rate this so low because the staff was so nice but I had to because of my dish. My mom and I both ordered the mushroom pasta after looking it up on their Instagram. What a disappointment when we got it! The sauce was very watery, I can make better sauce at home, and there were maybe 3 mushroom pieces in my entire plate. My mom and I were looking for the mushrooms the whole time we were eating and barely found any. Sad to pay that price for this. Even more the presentation was incredibly sloppy and amateur. The rest of the dishes were good and of the quality we were expecting. It’s sad that two out of the four of us having dinner had a bad experience.
First time eating here and it was a great dining experience. Three of us enjoyed the flatbread and meatball appetizers which were amazing. The owner came to our table to personally describe many of the menu items. His knowledge, pride and enthusiasm made a great dining experience. We had a seafood dinner entree and a filet special that was out of this world. Id recommend this to friends in the area and come back the next time were in town. The low light and rustic decor make a great place for a cozy date or intimate dinner with close friends.
Sugo is an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant located in Johns Creek, and it’s part of the Castellucci Hospitality Group that also includes Bar Mercado, Cooks & Soldiers, The Iberian Pig, and more. The first time I visited Sugo was also my first event as a Yelp Elite. I’m so glad that they picked Sugo for a “Girls Night” event because this place is absolutely beautiful! We were placed on a separate room from the dining room, and the dim lights and candles gave it a romantic touch. We tried different stuff from the menu including their Meatballs Al Sugo (totally recommended) some different flatbreads, bacon wrapped dates and their delicious arancini. The second time I visited I went for the Hanger Steak and it was amazing!
We went for a birthday and got the royal treatment. We got a birthday card and a beautiful display with candles. The customer service was amazing our waitress Montine gave great recommendations. The owner was there. You know your at a great place when the owner is talking to everyone and helping clear tables. Top notch atmosphere with top notch italian food. We had spicy fettuccine with mushrooms, beets salad, flatbread, and the bread pudding. Flatbread was thinner than we expected but it was delicious. Quality ingredients. And i recommend the burbon bread pudding. Dessert size is a 2 people share and food can be shared like family style buffet. Up to 3 person share. Oh and they do FREE bread. Its the best free bread i have ever had. Prices are so reasonable for quantity and quality. Nothing bad about this place.
What a great family owned establishment. The food is unbelievable. Pictures here are the Scallops and the Market catch, in todays menu it is Barramundi. Holy Cow! Try the Meatball appetizer and/or the Mushroom and Black Truffle Ravioli.....Cant say enough good things about Sugo...the atmosphere, food, service, warmth.....it is all top shelf.
We had an awesome experience at Sugo today. So good that I want to write a review lol! Each and every food that we order 😋 were super delicious. My family enjoyed dinner, we celebrated Chinese New Year today. Definitely coming back for more ... date night with the hubs maybe? Hmmm
The food, ambiance and staff were all excellent. This is real homemade Italian food. The pasta is made from scratch. We thoroughly enjoyed our hanger steak …10 stars it was moist and smoked perfectly. My husband didn’t even have to ask for A1 sauce! The shrimp scampi and eggplant parmigiana were absolutely delicious! Definitely coming back! The owners were so warm and friendly!
We had a wonderful engagement celebration dinner there this evening. Weve loved Sugo for many, many years but this was the first visit for most in our party and everything was just wonderful. The meatballs, flatbread, cannelloni, salmon, steak, Aunt Lenas Chicken, everything was superb. The private room ambiance was perfect. All the team members and management went above and beyond. Thank you so much!
I’ve been having dinner at Sugo with my family for years. It’s always been THE go-to spot for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions in our family. The food is always fresh and outstanding but, to our family, what makes Sugo so special is the familial feeling. Rather than walking into any old restaurant, you feel like you’re being welcomed into Mr. C and Nancy’s home. You’ll find that Sugo makes it their great aim to make sure you’re well taken care of from the minute you step through their doors, all the while serving fabulous food. If only the lamb saltimbocca and pork braciole were still on the menu!!
Food poising, bad server, bad food, not honoring reservations. Not sure why such a hype for this paceWe reserved a table for 7:45 pm on Sat 2/5 and we waited 50 min. Owner kept saying guests have eaten and paid but not leaving for hours. All people standing were asked to wait.Eventually, We ordered Salad, Greek bread, two Pastas. I’m little allergic to goat cheese, and greek bread had goat cheese but in menu it said Mozeralla. We returned it. Server forgot to bring salad, so we cancelled that. The main course wasn’t bad but something wasn’t right with sauce. Any how, we ate and left shortly.Next day (today) We are struggling with food poisoning or goat cheese reaction or whatever. Really bad experience. Ambiance was loud and people were full of expletives, and were totally wasted.Don’t bring kids for sure.
This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. The owner came over to tell us about the specials and I was so impressed with the personal touch. He was so nice and reminded me of a good friend that used to own a restaurant that would always go around and talk to the patrons. He made us feel very special and welcome. Top notch service and the steak was a real treat. I highly recommend this affordable fine dining establishment.
It was our first time here and my family and I were not disappointed one bit. Started from the hostesses to our server to the managers. Nobody said anything to me about wearing a tank top and gym shorts. Our server was very polite and recommended a “popular dish” that my mom really enjoyed. A manager or owner whoever the gentleman was came over to our table and recommended a lot of dishes he knew were delicious and popular at Sugo. He was very enthusiastic and engaging. Another female employee, co-owner or manager she also came over and asked how everything was. The food, best part of this enlightening experience, were all well-cooked and delicious. No to go boxes for us tonight, we finished everything. We highly recommend anyone who enjoy Italian cuisines to visit this eating establishment who’ll be treated like royalty. We will definitely come back whenever we are back in the Johns Creek area
Stumbled on this this place when looking for a spot that afforded outside dining, things on the menu that each member our family would enjoy, and also offer gluten free options. Sugo not only fit the bill but exceeded expectations. The food was terrific, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the menu variety was great. Aunt Lenas chicken was the perfect combination of crispy and moist with some sweetness thrown in. Loved the chunky marinara sauce that came with the meatball. And dessert was a ball of chocolate and vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. We split it four ways and had enough for 2 or 3 bites each. Sugo is a little on the pricey side but worth it!
I first went there with my co-workers for a company get together. I have enjoyed it so much and experience that the restaurant had to offer that I went the next day and took my my wife out there for dinner. The hosts Mr. C and his wife really made us feel really welcome like we were eating right at their dinner table. They even recognized me the next day that I came with my wife! Well the previous day it was a group full of women and I was the only guy so I was probably not hard to remember Lol! First off I have been to alot of Italian restaurants and it was mostly meh. But here in Sugo I truly enjoyed the meal. It was very simple yet very flavorful. I was hoping for more seafood items like mussels or clams. My wife was vegetarian and Im not but we both had allot of choices. Our waiters drink recommendation was excellent and I had a second drink that was an old fashioned which is done right compared to other restaurants. We started off with their roasted potatoes and it was cooked perfectly. Then our main dish I had their cannelloni it was perfectly balanced with the cheese, beef, lamb, herbs, spices and acidity which was truly enjoyable. My wife had the Fusilli Primavera which was perfectly balanced as well. While both are not very complicated dishes they executed it very well! We ended our with their house made tiramisu and again perfectly balanced! Not too sweet, not too strong, light and fluffy and was a perfect finish. It was a little bit on the expensive side but truly worth it! The ambiance, the friendly couple and staff truly made it a wonderful experience. We will be to try out the rest of the menu and I will have follow-up updates on this review.
The atmosphere is a subtle mix of old world meets modern. The food is simply AMAZING! The bacon wrapped dates are worth fighting over. They’re a delicate combination of sweet and smoky. I highly recommend the meatball (voted in the top 10 meatballs in the US by the Food Network) is one you can’t miss. Equally delicious is the Mialiano Flatbread. In truth, you can small plate your way through the very reasonably priced menu and experience a symphony of flavors. The staff is exceptionally helpful, friendly, and engaging, but never overbearing. This restaurant is our new favorite Italian spot! We’ll definitely be back. Do NOT miss this hidden gem in John’s Creek!
I am a Vegetarian & they had a good number of items for people who doesn’t eat meat. I am also allergic to garlic & onion, they also provided customization with no compromise on the taste. The quality and quantity both was excellent. And hey! They have food ambience if u would like to arrange a Party.
The most wonderful experience! I have celiac disease and am limited in most restaurants however Sugo offers an extensive list of gluten free options! Our service was wonderful and both the owner and his wife visited our table through the evening asking if there were plates they could clear or anything that they could bring us. Here, we felt like guest at their home and the authenticity of the experience has made us life long customers.
Italian cuisine isnt usually my go to. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the balance of flavors across every dish that I was served all the way from the appetizers to the desert. Each dish was light with a lot to offer as far as the complexity of flavor. I also appreciated the quality of ingredients, I could see and tatse the thought that was put into curating this menu. Looking forward to eating here again.
First time here from a high recommendation. Very glad we went. The market Red Snapper and shrimp scampi were cooked to perfection! The flavors were nothing shy of Amazing. Had to have an old fashioned and finally I found somewhere that can make a good one! Best part of the night was our waiter Al. Very kind and fun with an outstanding personality. It was a stellar experience.
Amazing first impressions...staff was super attentive and followed up amazingly. Even the hostess came to the table at the end of the meal to check on how we liked things. Thanks to the Rachels 😀 and of course, the food was delicious...go for the bacon wrapped dates. A...may...zing
Have returned to dining frequently after a year or so. Been many times and consider Sugo a five star dining experience. Service at the bar with Christy for cocktails and at the table with Brian were World Class. Regrettably, the kitchen was out of Cannelloni, Gluten free pasta, and the shrimp scampi was overly spicy as compared to the past. The red snapper and scallops were outstanding. Certainly would go back but hope they get the menu under control. Past reviews have been 5+++ and I offer this only as constructive criticism as they are a fabulous restaurant.
My friends and I were in town visiting for the weekend and we tried this place solely off of reviews. After some advice from what seemed to be the owner and waitstaff, we started with the burrata platter and the “famous” meatball. The burrata was much smaller than expected and the single meatball was flavorful but it seemed like all they did was add sugar to the meatball to give it a sweeter taste. For entrees we got the Orecchiette, the Filleto steak and the Cannelloni. The orecchiette was fine but the okra in the dish were undercooked and didn’t fit well in the dish.Everything that came with the steak was good except for the steak. The steak was extremely salty. It was like we were licking a salt lick. The cannelloni was a disappointment. The menu says it’s a lamb and beef mix stuffed into tube pasta. You could tell it was frozen and heated up.Unfortunately, overall, it was just okay. The portion sizes were small and the food was just at par. The ambiance was nice though.
Food is excellent! Did a takeout with this restaurant for the first time a month ago. What a pleasant discovery this place! Their Graduation Meal special was so delicious while the staff came out to my car so politely with such care. I only had the floor of my car as enough space for the food so they laid it gently down so as not to shift. Very appreciative of their details and care for their customers. Very classy service! Try it and you wont be disappointed. PS. Theyre tucked away in a corner of this shopping strip so it takes awhile to find it but once you do youll go back.
My husband and I have enjoyed dining here for several years. And during the pandemic we received an email each Tuesday of their Tuesday $12 specials that wed call in to order and drive up next to the restaurant to get masked car-side delivery that was quick, efficient and delicious with their homemade pasta dishes. Weve continued to get their Tuesday specials to bring home after busy work nights - so glad they continued this service. In early August, for my birthday, my husband and 19-year old son reserved the Big Green Egg & sous vide demonstration with dinner. This experience was terrific and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves beef and cooking skills. My son and I LOVE cooking and have attended many classes at Sur La Table, Whole Foods, Publix, William Sonoma... but we learned A LOT at this demo. IT was perfect because my husband probably would not have enjoyed participating as is most cooking classes... but he learned a lot as well and we all enjoyed the amazing dinner after the demo. Demo was held on their outside patio for the beginning of the demo with their Big Green Eggs and continued inside for the sous vide portion of the demo. Demo is held by Richardo Soto, Sugos Executive Chef, who was entertaining while providing excellent instruction, lots of specific technics and information and answered any questions we had. Very impressive chef and so nice to now know the face behind the food at Sugo! Every time weve been to Sugo, Nancy Castellucci (owner & manager) has been present with her beautiful smile and sincere welcome! Great Job Sugo - keep up the impressive business model!
What a fabulous meal, and the service by Ethan was spot-on! The four of us chose Sugo after a long hiatus. We were not disappointed to find the best of the best still exists here. Though busy, the space felt like we were alone... cozy and classy. We chose two of the Halloween Weekend Specials--an unbelievable value! Their version of Caesar salad was a nice subtle detour from the usual, steaks were prepared perfectly (and adorned with a rare, yet palate-pleasing begonia leaf), the old fashion from the bar was unequaled. Looking forward to returning far more frequently!
This place had shockingly good food, atmosphere, and service. I had the market fish (branzino) which was a little pricy but completely worth it. Would never have expected this quality in a suburban storefront. It would be worth a drive if you didn’t live in the area.
La familia.Amazing food..Try the bacon wrapped dates. And the hanger steak,I love the owners as if they were family.. ( kindness )I have spent many nights here..And each night made new memories with my wife & daughter..Food is outstanding. The environment is warm & friendly as if each table next to you feel the same way.❤PRICELESS experience. You will repeat.. Dear Nancy and staff at Sugo Kitchen,Thank you for taking care of all of us to celebrate Diana’s Birthday last night. We were all impressed with the drinks & cocktails, not to mention the delicious food, and specially Alan’s service and patience with everyone.Again thank you for the wonderful service and the personal attention you all gave us, not only at the dinner, but even from the initial meeting to make the reservation.✳️ €ariBlanco
I am totally blown away by this place. In the world of food it seems I am constantly having my understanding of what good or excellent means. Sugo, for me, has redefined the definition of service. I have never received better service during any restaurant experience than what I received eating here. There is a warmth and genuine friendliness to every interaction with the staff. You can really tell that they have a passion for what theyre doing and they want you to have a good experience. This really sets a new standard for me in terms of what I consider to be excellent service. I didnt know it could be this good, but it is. Eating at Sugo is like being welcomed into the home of a beloved relative you havent seen in years, but who is so excited to see you and wants to stuff you with the most delicious food. There is artistry in the food and drinks. The menu isnt small but its not large, either. There are plenty of dishes to choose from, but the selection is with an obvious restraint which defines truly excellent dining. The owners clearly understand how to design a menu with the correct balance of variety but also simplicity - and this attention to detail carries on to the food once it is delivered. Along every stop on your meal at Sugo, you can find the careful design of owners who genuinely care about creating a wonderful guest experience. I could not recommend a restaurant more.
We loved the food because it had a gluten free options for my husband who has Celiacs. However, when we recently went the options got smaller. My husband’s favorite the Pork dinner and also Caprese salad were removed They also have a separate gluten free menu which lists ciabatta buns (not gluten free) - just use word editor. And just an FYI for Celiacs ; the bacon wrapped dates which when we asked about in the past we were told was gluten free BUT just learned it goes in the same fryer as gluten items.Combined with a inexperienced waitstaff and undercooked pasta/vegetable dish the experience last time was really poor.Told the waitress pasta and asparagus dish was undercooked and my husband didn’t like it Did not offer to replace it or take it off bill, but did say she will let chef know. Then told her he didn’t receive his alcoholic drink. “Oh, I saw it on the bar but the receipt machine was out of tape. I changed the tape but didn’t know the drink was for you”. ... and didn’t think to ask anyone either. And if I’m being really picky and obnoxious my steak was under seasoned, the dates were slightly burnt, and my daughter & I weren’t offered complimentary bread. (The waitress knew cause my we discussed the pizza and other gluten items ). Just odd she didn’t ask.maybe we were spoiled about the excellent food and service from the past.Anyway all that added up to an opinion that it was not worth the price. We went home and my husband ordered delivery for himself.
The ambiance is great for a date, family dinner or office meeting/party. It does get crowded so i recommend getting a reservation. The food is delicious and you can tell its made with the best ingredients. The staff is friendly and the owners make it a point to speak with every table to make sure they are well taken care of.
Went here for the first time last week and had an absolutely wonderful birthday dinner. The owner was a character! He took a great deal of time explaining to us the wonderful menu and the history of some of the foods! The four of us all ordered different entrees and everyone was absolutely happy with their meal! This restaurant has a great ambiance and the service was absolutely great. I cannot wait to go back and try something else. The dress here is casual. But its definitely a place you can dress up and go to! If you love Italian, you will absolutely fall in love with Sugos!!
First, the food is wonderful. Wonderful! The wait staff is professional and well trained. Mood lighting is relaxing but perhaps a bit too dark. The restaurant and its setting are visually appealing and the locale is lovely. Excellent free parking. The special event room we were in was perfectly appointed and arranged. I cant say enough good things about the wait staff. Few restaurants train their people this well.
Went here for my moms birthday dinner last night. The service was phenomenal. Our party was seated before I arrived and the host made sure to help me find them. Our server was knowledgeable and extremely friendly. She had the kind of attitude and personality that really made our experience excellent. The meal was delicious and very well-paced. Our appetizers came out promptly and our entrees came out less than a minute after our appetizer plates were cleared. The food runners even made a strong, positive impression with their friendly attitude and politeness. And the strawberry champagne gelato...fantastic.
We just had our Easter Dinner TO-GO!!! Fantastic as always and every attention to detail. Please be sure to remember the restaurants in the area need our help right now. They are even delivering within 5 miles.. Aunt Lenas Chicken and Date Meatballs are excellent as ever
The service, atmosphere, and wait time for the food were all exceptional. However, the food didnt meet my expectations. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was dry, as if the eggplant was prepped earlier that day. Their marinara sauce lacked sauce, as it was very chunky. This being my first time going there, there could be better options on the menu I have yet to try, however this is what I experienced the first time there.
Easily one of my favorite restaurant experiences in a while! The owners are fantastic and go above and beyond to make you feel taken care of. We went with a party of six tonight and everyone was blown away by their attention to every customer. The food was exquisite. There wasnt a single thing we didnt like. The scallops and eggplant were especially phenomenal. Cannot wait to go back.
I’ve visited Sugo’s several times and have done curb side pickup since the quarantine. They never fail - the food and presentation are superb! However, this last time they went beyond! After a pick up, we came home only to find a desert missing. I called and Ryan, the manager, was apologetic and offered to deliver our missing item or a refund. I elected the desert and sure enough, it was at my door within 20 minutes. Again, the food was so good, the presentation mouth watering and the care and service beyond compare.
My husband and I visited tonight after a recommendation from some friends. Overall it was a great experience. The atmosphere is lovely, the service was wonderful, the wine was delicious, our dinner was only OK. Maybe we didn’t order well, but was a bit disappointed with our meals. Because of the cost, not sure we would come back unless it was to get drinks.
We did curbside side pick up today.. I thought we were missing something from our order but I just miss read the menu..As always because this restaurant always go above and beyond and always have exceptional customer service. Nancy the manager had someone dropped off extra food. Just truly amazing! This is the reason why I love this place and continue to support them. Thank you all for feeding us tonight it was very special.
This place is amazing and is a culinary experience!! We Experienced the Giant Meatballs, Flat Bread, Caesar Salad, Wild Board Sausage Pasta, Steak, fish special (Red Snapper of Risotto), Tiramisu, Bread Pudding, and the Ancient Greek Cheese cake. They had a masterfully presentation and Beautifully Amazing Flavors. Definitely worth a visit!!
OMGosh....We just ordered for pick up curbside for the first time. The food was AMAZING. We had salad, penne pasta, meatballs and bread! Im a fairly good cook, but I can tell you that the meatballs and sauce were from scratch. DELICIOUS!!!!! Well definitely come back, and its so nice to be able to support a local business!!!!
Really enjoyed dinner here. Everything was great from the apps to the dessert. Cant go wrong with the Aunt Lenas Chicken. Our server was very friendly and she made our evening enjoyable from giving suggestions on the menu to making sure we had everything we needed. Recommend this restaurant for groups of 4 or less. Menu is very reasonably priced especially for the quality of food. Most meals under $20 a few entrees at $24.
Had a great experience today. Took the family here for mothers day. I had the moskatel fillet and flat bread for appetizer. The food was excellent. This ambiance is very nice, quiet and wonderful family atmosphere. The owner came by to explain some of the items on the menu which was a very nice touch. Will be coming back for sure.
Went for our 15 year anniversary. This is what restaurants SHOULD be. The ambiance, the food and the service...all top notch. Restaurants in this area do not survive long because of the high standards expected by John’s Creek residents. There’s a reason Sugo has made it. They excel in all aspects of a dining experience. Our waiter was attentive and personal. He was not your typical “push the fish” type. The food itself was amazing and unique. And the owners came by because they actually cared...not because they had to. 5 Stars was an easy choice.
I am the worlds pickiest eater but there is something about Sugo that makes me adventurous and try things I always say I hate. Everytime I am surprised at how many things I like. The food and atmosphere are a little upscale. This is a great place for a quiet romantic meal for two with a great backroom for large private parties. Theyve always taken great care of us.
Although I havent had the opportunity to try many Italian restaurants since Ive moved to Atlanta, this is easily the best Ive been. From the moment you sit down until the last plate is removed the staff is very attentive and ensures that everything is taken care of.I think the overarching theme that I saw was pride. Pride in their history, their food, and their service. This is a place that I would definitely recommend that you check out if you have the opportunity.
Took my wife here for our 19th wedding anniversary. Asked for a special table, but received a table in the bar area that had tables pulled up against a big long bench, which made the tables extremely close and not very private at all. Although, I would have to say it is a more casual atmosphere than I thought it would be. The meatball appetizer was delicious ~ the flavors were outstanding. My wife had the Eggplant Parmesan, which she really enjoyed. I tasted it and thought the flavors were very tasty as well and the eggplant itself cooked to perfection. I ordered the Grouper special of the evening. The grouper was one of the best Ive ever eaten. However, the risotto that was served with it was terrible. We did not complain about it, though. We were in a hurry to make a show and were very happy with our server, Christina. She was very friendly and right on top of everything. Service was excellent! Would definitely go back here and bring another couple.
The food was great and I would definitely recommend going back. Some menu items may not be available if fresh ingredients were not accessible to make the dish. The service was alright for our first time there. The bacon wrapped dates are actually worth tasting. Happy eating!!
Keeping it short. My family moved here from Chicago and Italian food is a must for us. Finding Sugo has been a blessing because even though we are Indian the big family dinner are also a must. Sugo delivered three times just tonight because of silly mistakes. But they delivered each time till they got it right. That is what we call a good experience and that is why its our place to go for authentic old school experience. Love it. Thank you Sugo team.
I decided to eat here for for the first time for Valentines dinner and could not have been happier with my decision. The atmosphere was romantic . Our waitress provided service that was exceptionally attentive and friendly. As far as the food it was five star dishes with large portions. I will return here again soon and highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a nice dinner.
We have been to Sugo twice and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Its the kind of restaurant that the owners walk around to talk to you and ensure that you are enjoying your meal. The meatball appetizer is outstanding. I also enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates. Both steak dishes I had there were very good. My husband also enjoyed his fish dish as well. I would liken this to more of a Mediterranean/Italian restaurant. Definitely not the traditional, Americanized Italian food that we are used to, but delicious none the less. Some people have commented on the pricing, but I didnt feel that the pricing is out of line for a nice restaurant.
I love this place. We always sit at the bar when we go and throughly enjoy it. they have a full service bar so you can do drinks and dinner. The bartenders are always friendly and accommodating. The food is absolutely wonderful! I usually have the Chicago prime. Last night they has a veal chop as a special and it was AMAZING! There are so many wonderful flavors on this menu. I dont like pork and with this being an Italian restaurant it limits what I can eat a bit but they are always willing to remove it whenever possible. Wonderful food, fantastic staff, and over all great experience. I would definitely recommend.
One of the best restaurants in GA hands down. The level of service, professionalism, and friendliness is unparalleled. Every item on the menu is an unbelievable explosive taste experience, bite after bite. Even their mixed drinks are next level. Seriously if you only eat out once a year make it this place, you will not be disappointed.
Oh my goodness. Had to come to town for work and decided to try Sugo one night for takeout (due to COVID). Everything we ordered was fresh, hot, and absolutely mouthwatering! The beef ravioli has the best sauce, the bacon wrapped dates and arancini were delectable and the special chicken penne dish was also phenomenal. Wish we had Italian food like this where I live. The bread was even packaged and still warm after a 15 minute drive back to the hotel. Would recommend to anyone visiting or living in the area.
Yummy Italian food. Not your average red-sauce and pasta joint. Very friendly and accommodating staff, great bar. A dining experience like this is to be expected from the Castalucci family the host makes you feel like family and not in the chain Italian restaurant kinda way. Everything on the menu Ive tried is delicious, try it all and save room for the tiramisu!
The staff is very attentive and service was nice, except for the possible mistake to bring me the regular coffee instead of decaf, because I was having difficulties in sleeping at night. But, the coffee was fresh and I enjoyed. The filet mignon was superb, which was the special for the day. The pasta was great. The appetizer was OK. I may try others in next visit. It was cold in the room temparature for my companions. If there is anyone in your group to feel cold easily, it will be wise to request the table inside.
Frederico (owner) & Alan were an absolute charm. The owner immediately greeted us and was ecstatic to hear it was out first time. Alan has excellent recommendations and top notch communication skills. The food was fast and fresh, HAVE TO GET TIRAMISU & MEATBALL. We will be back many times over.
This place is PHENOMENAL!! Portions are generous, flavour is unbelievable. I had the Aunt Lenas chicken followed by the house made gelato. Loved all the flavours but strawberry rose was delicious, refreshing and never had this anywhere else. The ravioli is also the best Ive ever had. And they easily accommodated my dietary restrictions. The service is outstanding too, incredibly attentive but not overly pushy. Locals that took me here told me the background story how this is family run and how the husband and wife team sent their son to culinary school who came back and opened more restaurants. Not sure how much is truth but if youre in this area, you HAVE TO COME HERE. I really want to try the other places in the chain so I hope I get to come back to Atlanta!! Thank you Sugos for serving me the best meal Ive had in Atlanta
My fiancé took me here as a surprise for our anniversary. There are no words to describe how INCREDIBLY AMAZING the staff is!! They are so sweet and their suggestions on dishes and additives were spot on!! Officially our new favorite spot! Thank you to Federico and our wonderful server Daniele!!
Enjoyed Christmas Eve! We had the Eggplant Parmesan and Scallops. Both were excellent. Eggplant is different than a typical Italian restaurant as they have more vegetables, cooked perfectly so they arent mush. Scallops are delicately poached vs just high heat sear. Homemade ribbon pasta with the scallops was very good. Desserts are home made and were great. Good service to boot on a very busy night. They take pride in the place and their menu.
Every time my husband and I go here, we are treated like their only customer. They are so attentive and the food is out of this world! Definitely go on an anniversary or a birthday, they give you the royal treatment. When you go, definitely try their famous meatball!
Great place! We celebrated my friends birthday there on Monday night and the ambience was very inviting and warm. They had killer old fashioneds and my husband LOVED the market fish, red snapper. I got the shrimp scampi but was not very happy when it came out with like a brown kinda sauce. I still ate the majority of it and took the rest home. We got home, went to bed, and I woke up at 1145 pm puking my brains out. Something didnt sit well in my stomach or the shrimp mightve made me sick. Im not sure. Thats the only reason Im deducting a star. One last thing, my husband told me the bill price later that evening and was shocked when he said about $115 for 2 people, with tip. I wanted to call and get a copy of the receipt because I know exactly what we ordered and it isnt NEAR $115. He said he didnt look it through, just paid.. -_- So thats got me really curious as well......UPDATE: Lauren reached out and resolved this. She was very kind and made sure I was happy with the end result! We are definitely coming back!!
I was very disappointed, It was our second time, thinking that the first time we were not lucky, What we ordered was terrible, no flavor; I ordered zucchini pasta, all the veggies plus the very little zucchini that it came with my dish, was swimming in their own juice, I make zucchini pasta very often, Sugos pastas, no flavor. I wont go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was excellent!!.
Cant say enough good things about this restaurant - I go here for many special occasions every year, and many more date nights. The owners, a husband and wife, are very accommodating and come by to check on you every so often. Food is excellent - I am vegetarian and they have never disappointed me in their offering for vegetarians. Their fig flatbread is a delicious appetizer, the eggplant parmesan as an entree is one of the best Ive had, and the tiramisu they have for dessert is excellent as well. The cocktails are really good here as well, cant really go wrong. Been to almost all of the restaurants in the restaurant group they own, this is my favorite.
Our favorite place to celebrate. The food and service are top notch. The staff is attentive without being intrusive and very quick to respond if needed. Recommended joining their inner circle so you get notified of upcoming events and specials for all their restaurants.
Went to Sugo for my birthday with my family who was visiting from out of town last week. We had an incredible experience-- The food, service, and atmosphere were all impeccable! Thank you Sugo for a fabulous birthday celebration. We will be back soon and are excited to try some of your other restaurants in the area. I would give you six stars if it were an option!
We usually dont go to dinner on Vaentines Day because of the crowds and pre fix menus, but this year we decided on Sugo. The selections were awesome and I had the best Veal Chop I have ever had. They handled the large crowd extremely well and the service was excellent. Although it was crowded it didnt seem to affect the service or the quality of the food. We will definitely go back there.
Was there for a gathering of about 40 people. Food was delicious. Service was great. And, staff was pleasant and helpful. We were in a nice banquet room, and did not hear any noise from the restaurant. The chicken parmesan was exceptional!!! Thanks for a great dining experience!
Four of is dined at Sugo Restaurant on February 22, 2020. The food and table service was excellent. The unfortunate part of the evening was from the bar staff. Whilst waiting for our table we ordered from the bar. My husband ordered Crown Royal and coke. Unbeknown to him the bar had only a small amount of CR so they made the measure whole by adding an ambiguous liquor (with no label). However still charging for a CR. My husband pointed out to them that this did not taste like CR, only then did they substitute the drink.
While I am aware it was probably an off night, it was really off, and I think it’s worth noting for others that look to go on popular nights. We had reservations for Christmas Eve based off numerous recommendations. We were not seated until nearly 30 minutes past our reservation time. When seated we were stuck in a very tight space that was not at all comfortable and so dark we could barely read the menu. The wine list was limited and cryptic. I ordered a rosé and asked if it was sparkling, I was told it was not. When it was brought out 20 minutes later it was sparkling, but the server told me it was dry, like that was somehow relevant. I switched over to a vodka soda that I couldn’t get a second one the remainder of the night despite trying. The menu was limited that night, not what was listed online. We ordered a few kids spaghetti’s and an adult one (for oldest). Literally none of them came out with spaghetti pasta. It was capellini on two and fettuccine on the adult portion. None of my very non picky kids liked there’s.My husband ordered the cannelloni and I got the snapper. He was not a fan of his, and mine was very lackluster. just a piece of fish with panko breadcrumbs.Between the bad food, and the slow service we didn’t even attempt dessert. The worst part was it ruined such a big night. I’d wished I’d cooked it just gotten takeout lasagna, it would have not left such a sour taste on a night for celebrating.
This review is ONLY for one specific dinner at Sugo. We have been to Sugo several times and would normally rate it a solid 4. Last night we attended a 5-course reserve vegetarian dinner special at $45/person. No drinks. Mandatory gratuity included. First, the food WAS very good. The reason for my 3-star rating for THIS particular event/dinner is that it took 2 hrs and 50 minutes from being seated to signing the check. Perhaps this is normal for a 5-course dinner. If it is, then Im wrong and I apologize to Sugo, but for me, waiting ~30 minutes between courses was painful. It literally takes five minutes at most to eat a small appetizer if youre chewing slowly. I understand that theres a crew of people in back working like crazy to prep each course, but my preference would have been to have sufficient staff to bring each course out about 15 minutes apart.
This place is a culinary jewel tucked away behind a strip mall. Go inside, the ambiance is great. You can also sit outside and eat. The bar service is quick and friendly. The meatballs (their signature dish) is worth a try and so good you might slap your mother. (Dont actually do that)We were here for an event and seated in the large room in the back for special occassions for larger groups. The owner came out and thanked us all for coming and gave us a quick lesson on the restaurants history and family. If you love authentic italian food that is made with care, great service in a clean and romantic setting, this is the place!
This restaurant is always good. The service is always good and the food is AMAZINGGG. Even if the service wasnt good we would probably still go back because the food here is that good. There hasnt been a time when weve been in that the manager hasnt come by to ask how were doing. Krystal is awesome and I always ask for her. If you ever have a little bit of extra money running around, or are in the mood for some really good Italian, sugo is well worth it
I live in Nashville, and had to find a place for my sons wedding rehearsal dinner in Atlanta. After researching the area, I chose to book at Sugo. I worked over the phone with Mikki, who was wonderful! The weekend I visited, Mikki came in on her off day so that I could come in and see the restaurant and sample foods before choosing the menu. The night of the dinner, we were all seated immediately, the staff was prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious! I could not have asked for a more pleasurable experience!
Decent food. I ordered a togo vegetarian order from this restaurant and got home and discovered that they had put meat in the dish. I called the restaurant and the lady that picked up was very rude to me. I talked to the manager. On the phone I was told id get a 25 dollar credit for the mistake since I had to go get the fixed dish order. But when I got the order I didnt get the card. And I was given an extra appetizer as consolation. I was also told that I would get a refund on that dish. I had to call in like 5 times to get a refund and it took like 4 weeks for my refund to be processed!I wouldnt go here again actually. The food was good but the service wasnt that great. Maybe others will have better luck!
Wow.. where do I start... Yes, I was 20mins late for my 4pm reservation on Mothers Day. I know, I should have lost my seat, but NOPE, STILL was seated immediately after checking in. Our waiter Alex was very knowledgeable and knew the menu well. Very prompt, and courteous. GREAT SERVICE! The lady behind the bar, Samantha if I can recall, made us this tasty shot. Very personable, and vas knowledge about the spirits she servers. All in all, SERVICE WAS SPOT ON! Food was fresh and hot in a timely manner, the establishment was clean and with a great ambiance. Staff was very friendly. One of my new favorite spots.
I dont love food (I eat pretty much just to stay alive) but the food here is amazing and I ate and enjoyed every bite. Ive never looked forward to going back to a restaurant but here I am planning my next visit. I felt like I was eating at a friends house. Beautiful atmosphere but laid back and inviting.
I am most likely the last person to write a review but in this case I will. Sugotruly cares about their customers. Customer service is unparalleled and food is good too. Their Ancient Greek Cheesecake is one of the best you can find in this country. I will recommend Sugo any day anytime.

2022-07-19My bf and I celebrated our four year anniversary so we wanted to find good Italian restaurant. I’m glad I try this place. Everything we got was great! Flavor, fresh you name it. I had nothing to complain about. Service was great. I forgot her name but loved her vibe. They gave they own parking space nothing to worry about. It’s a must try ! We are most definitely gonna come back and try different dishes.

2022-07-06Very nice place... friendly and courteous staff, delicious food. Id like to see more menu options for those who cant eat cheese or cream. Atmosphere is intimate with very low lights. My hubby and I had been in a car all afternoon, were kind of talked out and wanted to read (both avid readers). Not possible unless we asked for another table. Since we were not from the area and on work/ business, and since we had no reservation, I didnt feel like we could ask for another table. That would have been rude and over the line. The salad, bread and main dishes were all terrific, although I found the salad dressing just a touch too acidic. My husband ordered the beef ravioli and I might have chosen that, too, if I could have been assured that the meat stuffing didnt contain a significant amount of cheese. The service from Kimberly was good. Its hard to accommodate a person who cant eat cream/ cheese in this restaurant, and in most Italian restaurants, I realize. In all, a very good meal. I wish I hadnt had salmon yesterday because I could have ordered that. Id eaten salmon yesterday for the evening meal and today for the noon meal (leftovers), so I was salmoned out, so to speak.Note: from the main road in front of this restaurant, youll have to go around the side of a bakery to find the restaurant. There was a sign saying Sugo along the main road, thankfully!

2022-04-09I would put this place top of the must try list, if you have one. Everything was mouth watering delicious and the atmosphere was very cozy! We had a large party there, and staff was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Our server Roy made sure the whole evening was seamlessly. Can’t wait to visit again and try different items on the menu.

2022-02-11We celebrated our anniversary here and the staff was lovely about it. We got two small glasses of champagne and a candle and they congratulated us. I always appreciate when the staff is so attentive and nice—sadly it’s very rare nowadays. Also there was no loud music or anything that would’ve made it impossible to keep a conversation going. The restaurant has a romantic atmosphere, the downside however is that it was so dark that I’ve seen many people using the flashlight of their phones to be able to read the menu. I also like to see what I’m eating so I’d have liked it better if the place had been brighter. The cocktails were amazing—we had the Apple Spicer and the Walnut Old Fashioned and both were great (I liked the Apple Spicer better). We had the Spanish Octopus and the Arancini—the Arancini were heavenly, the octopus was also good. Then we had the branzino which was a daily special and the Eggplant Parmesan—we liked both, they tasted amazing and had different textures and interesting flavor combinations. The only thing is that as our waiter—Roy, who was absolutely amazing and helpful—explained the branzino to us, we thought that it would be a bigger piece of fish but it wasn’t. Anyhow, it was very good. For dessert we had the Tiramisu and the Cannoli—they were good but I wouldn’t say exceptional.I was a bit surprised that there were no pizzas on the menu and overall I thought there would be more traditional Italian dishes (lasagna, carbonara, etc.). Nevertheless, we had a lovely night and we really liked the food there, and the staff was super attentive and courteous. Can’t wait to go back to try more deliciousness.

2022-02-25Been eating at Sugos for many years, mostly for special occasions. Service and is always exceptional. This visit had only one disappointment, they were out of their Beef Ravioli. Asked for a custom drink, The Rosita, and the bartender made an excellent version. Mr. C making his rounds to make sure all was well was appreciated. Had their Flatbread appetizer for the first time, and it was fantastic, the crust was super light and crispy. Would order again!

2022-03-17Wed never been and the owner came to speak with us and share his personal favorites. When we arrived it was cozy but by the time we left every table in 3 dining rooms were full. The bread was soft inside and crisp outside as it should be. The olive oil was very fresh. The drinks were exquisitely made visually and in taste. Likewise the food was a marriage of fresh perfectly mingled flavors. Servings were not for indulgence but satisfaction. Still we took food home because everything was so rich. Please have the bacon wrapped dates. That are guaranteed to make your mouth happy. Wrapping up with anything less then the fragrant tiramisu or rich cannolis is criminal.

2022-02-04The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. Got to try the meatball appetizer. I asked to have meatballs served over pasta because they are so good.
