My family was driving through Thomasville Georgia today and stopped to get some something to eat. Our server Jordy, I hope I remembered that correctly, was extremely knowledgeable when answering the questions about the cheese and meat that came on the cheese board. I was a little hesitant to order but he recommended it and so we did. We enjoyed it very much. A great experience all the way around.
I usually stop in to buy their cheeses but had lunch there today.I was quickly waited on and my server behaved professionally throughout my meal. The meal arrived within 10 minutes of placing my order. The food was well prepared and delicious - grilled cheese on Cibata bread with Brussel sprouts fried in peanut oil on the side. I was less than thrilled with the jarring music on the PA system, but not a huge issue for me.
I love sweet grass dairy cheese but was very disappointed in the Grilled Cheese Ciabatta. The charcuterie board was excellent and the fries are the best. The grilled cheese should be a signature item but it was bland and boring. Melted cheese on a warm ciabatta roll…That’s it! I couldn’t tell where it even got close to a grill.
A friend of a friend recommended this place for some drinks. At Sweet Grass Dairy Shop located in Thomasville, Ga off of South Broad Street, I was skeptical at first till we sat at the bar. The atmospheric decor and magnificent setting is very welcoming, from liquor bottles shelved on the wall to a place full of cheese and charcuterie. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sammy and a Long Island Ice Tea. The bartender prepared our drinks. Liquid courage I can taste the rum, tequila, vodka, lime etc. I took delight in that drink. As we sipped our drink and waited for our food to come out, the bartender kept us entertained. What an EXCELLENT bartender. When my food arrived it was a big piece of fried crispy chicken breast with chiffonade lettuce, tomato, and house ranch on brioche. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The season on the chicken was flavorful. The service here was A+ A+ A+ A+ A+. I mean EVERYTHING was just spectacular and stimulating at this location. Food and service is worth every penny. You will get your moneys worth at this place. From the moment I walked into this place to the time I left this entity. The bartender (Ian) service is off the chart naturally (above and beyond). Staff is friendly, pleasant and clean and a very heart warming welcoming establishment . NEVER seen nothing like it. I love it when food is always prepared fresh. Food here is scrumptious. I will be back for more of this service.
2017 My food was great! But waiter was quite distracted with a table full of beautiful young ladies.... he forgot to bring appetizer, food was warm from sitting (not hot), cashier ended up serving us - BUT despite this, the food tasted good... would have given 5 stars if food were served hot and on time! Will return and give them another go! Recipes and ingredients fresh local high quality! 2018 UPDATE returned a year later and had similar wait staff experience but food was excellent and fresh! 4.5 Stars! ... 2019 Dropped to 3.5 stars today, my waitress was right on but this time the Hanger Salad was a miss :-/ ... wobbly tables, flies everywhere, salad greens not sorted and seemed commercially supplied. Didn’t get that fresh local crisp flavor like before... smh!
I saw on PBS a show about this dairy. Next time I was at the grocery store, I found this cheese. My husband and I tried a taste with some just baked bread. Heavenly. Then I spread some strawberry preserves with the cheese. YUMMY. Then I dipped another bread and cheese slice in olive oil. Too good. We ate half of the cheese standing at the counter. Wonderfully crey!crew!! We loved it.
Such nice people in such a nice little town. First heard about this place years ago at a fancy restaurant up in Nashville. Tried three cheeses (Tomme, Green Hill, and Griffin) and enjoyed them all. I was in desperate need of wifi and these kind people came through for me. Will be back
We have been here 5 x and we live in California but whenever we are visiting we come here and it’s the best burger I think I have ever had!! All the sauces are to live for the beer and Brussels sprouts and I love the gluten free bun and crackers!! Everything here is so good you won’t be disappointed!! Can’t wait to come back and the service is always great!!!
I was charmed by thomasville and this was just the cherry on top! The staff were so nice and understanding and did a gr8 job of explaining all of the choices to me and my friend! We absolutely loved how everything turned out even tho we rlly just got grilled cheese with fries. The cheese was phenomenal, the sauces equally good, and the fries - just 😍😍 definitely 5 malcolms out of 5
Interesting stop on out trip through. Its been on list to try for a while and I am glad we did but had a few issues. Overall the food was great (especially garlic aioli sauce), although unfortunately the chili sauce we also tried was a bit off that night. Loved the Philly, and really wishing they had a smaller cheese sampler plate. With just two of us we would have liked to try a bit of each cheese without wasting the amount that comes on the larger spreads.
The Sweet Grass Cheese Shop was the best find in Thomasville. We were out shopping and saw an open table on the sidewalk. We grabbed the table and were met by our waitress, Kourtney. She recommended the, Cheese Shop Burger with pimento cheese and bourbon bacon jam. OMG! One of the best burgers I have ever had!!! If you are in Thomasville, don’t miss this burger!!!! Sorry, I didn’t get the picture till I already ate half and realized how good it was!!
This is a very popular place, the food was enjoyable. BUT, once again we had the waitress that probably hasn’t been to a restaurant fancier than Chick-fil-a. I feel she lied to us when our cheese plate hadn’t arrived in over 20 minutes, she told us it had been delivered to the wrong table. We were seated right next to the kitchen and could see the food going out and close enough to hear the conversations between the staff. I guess she didn’t know she was waiting on a world famous critic!
This is my favorite place to have cocktails (the Gin Djinn!) and food. Seriously, these are the best handcut fries in a two-hour radius. In six years, Ive never had a bad server, and we go up there every 6-8 weeks. Perfect for a special occasion or just a night out. This is one of the places I always take out-of-town guests. Also, the bartenders are out of this world. Exceptional. Thank you for your creativity and affable demeanor.
The menu may seem limited, but don’t think that means the food is simple! Every recipe is polished and perfected. Plays on classic American meals turn into explorations of flavor- so good the descriptions on the menu can’t do them justice.Order the cheese board, they’ll tailor it to your tastes. Try the fried Brussel sprouts- better than fried potatoes in any style. The best Philly cheese steak I’ve eaten.Even if you don’t like this restaurant, you’ll not regret trying it.
Everything here is going to be FRESH and flavorful! I am a strict vegetarian eater and they have MANY vegetarian AND/ OR vegan friendly items on the menu. Their White Bean Hummus with fried Brussels is to absolutely die for! My favorite meal in Thomasville. Must try all of their sauces, especially their spicy ketchup and bourbon ketchup! Music, vibes and staff is always on point and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. Their beer selection and drink menu is always something to smile about too :)
After reading all the reviews we were so excited to finally get a chance to go for lunch...what a huge dispointment. The fried cheese curds were good, the french fries were good, the salad with hanger steak was not good at all, the steak was too rare and honestly had the worst flavor ever, i cant even describe the taste, i tried the champagne vinegarette as well as the dijon vinegarette and dislike them both, very bitter must have been sugar free or whatever, tasted no spices whatsoever, not like any dressings Ive had before and couldnt eat either, i basically filled up on fries..maybe they were having a bad day but i personally found nothing special at all about the food, being a cheese shop i should have just gotten a cheese platter! The Rose Sangeria was awesome though and my husband liked his burger. We would probably try it again if we were in the area but just for a cheese platter and cocktails. Definitely wouldnt drive almost an hour as we did just to go there.
My wife and I spent Valentines Day exploring Thomasville and found Sweet Grass Dairy as we shopped. Thirty minute wait at lunch, but well worth it. Wife had the chicken salad sandwich and I thought she was going to have an orgasm over how good it tasted. I had the Simmering Sammy chicken sandwich, a whole breast deep fried with cheese. Very tasty. We sat in front of the kitchen watching the full menu being prepared. I would like to try the Staff Favorite meat and cheese board as it looked amazing. We will be back.
Yummy! Ive been here for lunch a couple times. Ive had the cheese sandwich before, which was great, but this time I had the burger with bacon jam and pimento... soooooo good! The wine and beer selection is really good too.Sweet grass cheeses are some of the best local options and they sell a variety here, so pick one up on the way out the door.
We visited Sweet Grass on January 17th, 2020. We put our name on wait list and were told approximate 30 minute wait. Went to bar which is in view of check in desk to have a drink while waiting. Hostess walked past us several times. After 45 minutes I went to ask how much longer. Was told that they called my phone twice and I didnt respond. I checked my phone and found that they had NOT called to tell me my table was ready. The wait list showed they had seated 4 or 5 people that were after us on the list. They could not tell us how soon we could be seated. We decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Hostess had nerve to tell us to have a nice day as we left. We will NEVER return to this restaurant again. Sure sign of very poor management. Hostess could not have cared less.
This place is fantastic. I have eaten their cheese upon nearly every chance that I have been given, all over the nation. So, when I had a chance to go to Thomasville and experience more of what this company, and their people are doing, I was more than excited. We had to try the charcuterie board with item composed of the staffs favorites from around the world. This was incredible. The other things the table ordered were great as well. Many smiling faces. I would love to visit again.
Absolutely love this place. Amazing food and service. Gluten free options beyond compare.Service is spectacular, food is incredible and prices make this a must visit. In addition to the beautiful inside they offer limited sidewalk seating. Nice atmosphere, cool vibe and overall a great experience. This is one of those places you want to visit and visit again.
We haven’t eaten here, but we like to buy cheeses, fruit spreads, and cured meats. The small selection is worth your time to check out! Also don’t forget to grab some tasting chocolate near the checkout. There are pictures of Thomasville on the label. It’s to die for!
THE BEST place in town to eat cheese, or if you dont eat cheese, have a beer, hang out with a nice, local crowd. Its our Go-to place for a quick bite and maybe a beer from the tap.If you dont eat cheese or dont know if you do, try a sampling and see where that goes. These guys win national awards for their cheeses. Its no joke.
Outstanding restaurant! Reasonably priced and excellent service. We live in Tallahassee yet make the drive to Thomasville as they have the best steak compared to any place in Tallahassee. The steak frite has an incredible flavor that beats everyone else hands down! Worth the drive. Ian ROCKS! A definite asset to their company!
We come here for starters when we are in Thomasville. They have a great beer and wine selection which is nice but the world class, award winning cheese is whats bringing us in the door. A unique place for south georgia its a must try for any and every one that appreciates quality eats.
This is a grassroots eatery. I come here to get away from the chemically laden foods of most restaurants. They raise most of what you eat through their own Farm and a family owned set of dairies. The food is just amazingly fresh and very tasty. I have autoimmune problems and this food lets me enjoy going out to eat again. Largely something we had given up due to food sources in most restaurants being unhealthy. At Sweet Grass Dairy & Cheese Shop everything is fresh and I feel good about the food I just ate being as healthy as I can get in a restaurant setting. Thanks, Sweet Grass!
This business has a strict friends and family policy in other words Who you know is more important than what you know people that operate like this need to be upfront about it just say we dont know you and are not interested in giving you a chance so please dont waste youre time seeking employment here but we hope you spend some money.
Im sure I would have enjoyed the products they offer, but I never got a chance to try them. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon, only a couple of people in the store. Upon walking in, the two women behind the counter did not say hello but instead snarled and started openly talking about the way I looked, in a very negative way. I could hear every word they said and it blows my mind that they werent aware of how loudly they were talking. I immediately walked out because I felt very unwelcome. Its a shame I wasnt able to eat here like I was planning because the staff was so rude.
Our absolute favorite place in Thomasville! The menu is sourced locally, where possible. The menu is not 5 pages long, but offers something for everyone. They have a retail shop that allows you to take some of Thomasville home with you. We had the Taste of Thomasville. It is an assortment of locally manufactured cheeses, sauces and various other local products. It was Wonderful! More than enough for two people. They also have a full service bar with imaginative drinks.
Love! Its a cutesy quaint cheeseshop in the best part of downtown thomasville! but make sure you go early in the day/evening if you intend to eat. I went with a small group of friends around 9pm this past Saturday evening. There were 5 of us total, and we only came to drink and try the cheeses. The hostess at the front counter told us that we couldnt be served anything aside from beverages because they ran out of food today, just as we noticed that other customers were being served food at the tables around us. The very last of the food, possibly? I suspect she didnt want to serve us because it was 9pm, an hour until closing time. This is the only subpar experience Ive had there, however, so if you want to try it- just make sure you go early in the day/evening.
This is a jewel of a restaurant in Thomasville, Georgia, they offer homemade gourmet cheese for purchase along with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. A personal favorite is their white bean hummus with brussel sprouts & radishes, served with bruschetta. The bar has a good selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Located on the brick-paved Broad Street, there is outdoor seating available and the downtown has a variety of businesses for your shopping pleasure. Enjoy!
I applied for a job with this business. I didnt hear from anyone after submitting my resume. I then called and left a message for someone in Management to call me. I never received a call back. That may be a good thing. I dont want to work for an irresponsible business.
What a cheese shop! I had heard stories about Sweet Grass for quite some time, but just hadnt taken the time to come up to Thomasville and see what all the buzz was about. Well, Im glad I finally did! The decorations were cozy, for starters, and made the classic dairy look very high class. The Taste of Thomasville cheese platter which included Sweet Grasss own Green Hill brie, Asher Blue bleu cheese, a soft Thomasville Tomme, and their pimento was a great decision and kept us savoring every bite. I do wish the cheesecurds were a bit better, but I seem to have been spoiled growing up in Wisconsin. The service was also attentive and it was especially interesting to watch everyone work in the open kitchen. I will definitely be coming in here everytime I find myself in Thomasville!
Grab the window barrel for some sneaky Pete people watching in SGD with a strong brew and a bit of pimento cheese. We kept ourselves entertained doing just that yesterday evening and in between her very friendly and efficient service Jennifer answered all my nosy questions about why Thoms go to Tallahassee and more personal things;) We never got to dinner... Just beer-hopped our way through town.

2021-09-30Awesome staff and delicious food! Ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese shop burger with pimento cheese and bacon jam. A sweet and salty to please the palette. Bar manager Natasha was so informative and let me know 100% of the menu could be customized to accommodate gluten-free. My gluten-free bun was so yummy! If you’re gluten free or not … this restaurant must be on your radar if you’re in or passing through Thomasville!

2021-06-28My brother and I decided to take a spur of the moment road trip to Thomasville, I have always wanted to visit there and I asked one of the locals where was a good place to eat and Sweet Grass was the first place they recommended. I was not disappointed, the only complaint was the wobbly table we sat at, LOL! it was a gorgeous day so we wanted to eat outside. We both had the cheeseburgers, grass-fed beef and their own made cheese and the sauces that came with the burgers were really good! I dont normally eat red meat but this burger was fantastic! I was cooked perfectly and great quality taste, the fries were even great, not typical restaurant fries and to top it all of a coke from a glass bottle. Our waitress Crystal was awesome as well. Highly recommend and will visit again.

2022-06-28If you like a good burger, give this place a shot. I love the pimento and cheese burger with bacon jam. Very good flavor. The fries are also fresh and taste amazing and go great with the in-house garlic aioli sauce.
