Sweet Magnolia catered my husbands 40th birthday celebration, an elegant cocktail/dinner party. Planning for the event was very easy thanks to Richards responsiveness with email and phone calls. Several times, he responded to my emails in minutes!!The evening of the event, everything was wonderful and went very smoothly thanks to Richard and his team. We appreciate all their hard work and attention to detail. Everyone loved the food! The Beef Wellington, Thai coconut soup, and the Mediterranean pasta were our favorites. And the service was exceptional. I especially want to thank Richard and his team for taking care of my husband and I during the event by making our dinner plates and making sure I got the last glass of Prosecco before it ran out.My photographer got some great pictures of the food! Looking forward to working with Sweet Magnolia again for future events.
I cant think of a single bad thing to say about Sweet Magnolia! They were an absolute pleasure to work with. They supplied food, buffet tables, and licensed bartenders as required by our venue. They helped cut and serve the cake and cleaned up afterward! The staff was so polite and fun, and Richard was even nice enough to make the bride and groom a plate to make sure they ate among the hustle and bustle. The food was amazing... we got so many compliments on it from our guests! Whatever your needs, Im sure Sweet Magnolia can provide!
We used Richard and Sweet Magnolia for a party at our home. The communication leading up to the event was fantastic! The day of his team set up, they were extremely professional and considerate of our home and needs. The food and service were phenomenal! Our guests raved about the food and the service as well. Absolutely amazing caterer! We hired Sweet Magnolia Catering and Chef Richard for our wedding on May 1, 2021 and it was absolutely perfect.First, on planning and communication, Chef Richard is UNPARALLELED. Of every vendor we worked with, Chef Richard was the most responsive and engaged, responding to every email and question within minutes, and always offering great advice and suggestions. We always felt so confident dealing with Chef Richard knowing that he had all of the details under control and would reach out if there were any concerns needing our attention.Second, the food was delicious and beautiful! We had a large and complex menu, and Chef Richard executed it great. We saw lots of clean plates all around and got many comments on how delicious the food was. We also did a bar package through Sweet Magnolia, and they did a great job behind the bar and even made our Signature Cocktail idea come to life with 3 different Moscow Mule flavors that were loved by our guests.Finally, the service and staff was phenomenal. From passing appetizers and drinks at cocktail hour to the dinner service and beyond, the staff were totally on top of service. We even got several comments on how fun and friendly the staff was keeping everything lively at the wedding. And Chef Richard showed that he really cared about our day, constantly checking in personally with my wife and I to make sure that everything was going as we wanted.Highly recommend Sweet Magnolia and Chef Richard for any event!
Richard and his amazing team catered my sons rehearsal dinner at the beginning of October. From the initial contact to the end of the special evening, Richard paid exacting attention to detail and was the perfect combination of professional and friendly. The same was true for each member of the staff. From the incredible selection of dishes available, Richard helped us choose the best combination for our event and our guests, and accommodated special dietary concerns with enthusiasm. He made it easy to ask questions and make adjustments when necessary. Planning an event at a new venue in the middle of a pandemic was very stressful, so I was very thankful for Sweet Magnolia and Richards love of food and service - he made the process fun. All of our food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Even better than the wonderful food was the fun, friendly and helpful staff. While looking for a catering company for our sons upcoming wedding, we thankfully came across Richard and Sweet Magnolia Catering. Can’t say enough good things about Richard and his staff. Richard is absolutely amazing about responding to emails, calls or texts. Our tasting was perfect , everything we tried we loved, you will definitely have a hard time picking out your favorites because they are all so good! The big day came and I never once had to ask or worry about anything. Richard is so good at what he does, and all of our guests were so happy with the food, and the service is unbelievable. If you want to feel 1000% taken care of, choose Sweet Magnolia as your caterer. Richard is one of the kindest, most gracious people you’ll ever meet. He responds quickly to emaiils and is very flexible. He encouraged us to choose foods that weren’t on his menu, like pan-fried dumplings, kung pao tofu, and Pad Thai. The foods that were on his menu were delicious as well, especially the Thai sweet potatoes and tofu satay skewers. Guests said the hummus was the best hummus they have ever had. Not only was Richard amazing, the other staff were so sweet. One staff member danced with us! We absolutely adore Sweet Magnolia catering and will recommend them to every single person planning an event in the Atlanta area. Chef Richard is an incredible guy! If you want one of the best food experiences in your life then dont hesitate in contacting him. While all of his food is mind blowing his brisket takes the cake. Meat melts like butter. Your money will be well spent!!!
We were absolutely blown away with how amazing Sweet Magnolia is! From the very beginning, Richard was very responsive and answered all of our questions. He went above and beyond to meet all our wants and needs and then some! On the day of the wedding, everyone was SO impressed with how delicious the food was and how amazing/friendly the staff was. Seriously - I still think about our salmon entree almost every other day, it was so delicious! Booking Sweet Magnolia was one of the best decisions my husband and I made - hands down.
I could never say enough good things about Richard and Sweet Magnolia Catering. They are without a doubt the best vendors I have ever worked with in any capacity. Planning a wedding is stressful enough much less trying to do so during the COVID-19 pandemic. Richard made the catering portion unbelievably easy on us.From the tasting portion where he will cook you mountains of his delicious food that is so good you wont even have to go on another tasting to a different company. To booking him and having very clearly detailed invoicing for food, drink, glassware, silverware, you name it he can do it for you. To having to reschedule your wedding to a different date because of COVID and it was ZERO issue for Richard to accommodate our new date. To the actual wedding where the food is just as incredible for 100+ people as it was for the tasting. To the unbelievable service Richard and his staff provided to our guests.Theres a 1000 more reasons to book this company for any event you are having. I had Sweet Magnolia cater our wedding (9/4/2021) and they were beyond exceptional. We had the garlic encrusted prime rib with made from scratch creamy horseradish sauce and the Mojo chicken with a chimichurri sauce. They were the most tender and flavorful meals I have ever had. They had so many other meal options, definitely can suit whatever you’re feeling. The staff was constantly on point and very organized. Definitely one of the best caterings I’ve had. I highly recommend them for any catering event.

Richard and his team are amazing to work with! He was always incredibly responsive, offered great suggestions, and was extremely accommodating of requests. During the pictures, Richard personally brought over drinks and appetizers for the whole wedding party and family members. He then continued to check in with us throughout the couple portraits to see if we needed anything. During the reception, we had a hot fully plated meal waiting for us which allowed us to eat quickly and thank all of our guests. The buffet line moved quickly even with extra servers on staff to limit guest to guest contact. All of our guests commented on how attentive and energetic Richard, the servers, and bartenders were. Throughout the evening they were asking guests if there was anything they could get them or anything they needed. As my new husband and I were leaving, we had two fully packed to-go boxes of food packed for us which was AMAZING! We got to eat a quick bite before we headed to our after party. All of the extra food was packed up, labeled, and ready for us to pick up the next morning. Overall, it was an amazing experience working with Richard and his team! The food was delicious and it was such a stress relief to have such an attentive and dedicated person handling our catering needs!
Richard and his team at Sweet Magnolia Catering were my favorite vendor by far at our November 2020 wedding!! From booking to our wedding date, Richard was humble and professional from the start. He was very accommodating to our families dietary needs and the craziness during COVID. He took care of us as the bride and groom all night long and made sure we got to eat. Everything from the appetizers, dinner, hot chocolate bar, and deserts were delicious. The catering staff was so professional and even danced with us towards the end of the night.... I can’t say enough good things. They deserve more than 5 stars!

Sweet Magnolia has spectacular food in a wide variety in dishes. I have yet to come across an item I didnt enjoy. From sliders to pasta, and excellent sweet tea, everything they make is great. Richard and his staff are consistently amazing and will not disappoint. I cant recommend this group enough!

Richard and his staff did an amazing job with catering for our wedding on April 7. From our first meeting with him, he was professional and accommodating. His menu selections are extensive - it was very difficult to choose from so many possibilities. All communications were prompt and customer focused. The day of the event had smooth set-up. Our guests said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The passed appetizers were unique and delicious - the crab cakes were to die for. The signature chicken is wonderful!Richard and his staff were very gracious and professional. Very thoughtful touches such as plating food for us - bride and groom - while we greeted guests. We hired Sweet Magnolia Catering for my daughters wedding, after we had a tasting of several menu items, the most important dish being Shrimp and Grits.To begin with, Richard Mayo was very quick to respond to our questions, which is very important in my book. At the tasting, we were surprised at how much flavor the food had-not your usual bland food. My daughter gave him the recipe she and her then-fiancé used, and he made their version for the wedding, as requested. It was delicious!Richard was at the reception, along with the most attentive staff I have ever seen. Professionals who were there when you wanted them to be, and not all on your face when you did not want them to be. They took the time to make plates of food for the bride and groom and myself and brought them to us so we would not have to stand in the buffet line!Our guests raved about the food and the service! WOW! Sweet Magnolia Catering (Richard) catered my 5 year breast cancer survivor event and was simply AMAZING! Richard was professional and patient with me for an entire year while I planned my event. He was very accommodating, consultative, and helpful in areas that didnt necessarily fall under his scope. His presentation of food was wonderful and ALL of my guest enjoyed everything he made. I cannot say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with Richard and his team. He was patient from our very first communication all the way through to the very end of my wedding. He answered my questions thoroughly and was super accommodating of any/all my changes and requests.The food was DELICIOUS! I’m not kidding. Most of my guests went back for seconds and some even went for thirds. We had a touch over 100 guests and got a package for 100. Richard catered our Rotary Clubs first Kentucky Derby Party. The members of the club have told me that was the best event in the history of the club. It has been decided that this will be an annual event. We anticipate participations will be three to four times greater next year with other members from other clubs wanting to attend. It seem good news travels fast.Key to the success was Sweet Magnolia Catering. The food was great and the service was outstanding. The bartenders were very professional. We even used Richards staff to judge the best ladies bonnets and mens outfits too.Richard was outstanding to deal with. He is extremely patient and attentive to his client’s needs.
Last night I met Richard, his fiancé and a team member who brought the most delicious food in the most accommodating way to our venue for a wedding reception. It was a challenging night because of Hurricane Delta weather. But the food stole the show and made people so happy when they easily could have been despondent. Good food is crucial to a celebration. It makes people feel warm and happy so they can get through the challenges of weather. But Richard and Co. took it to the next level. They brought their own sunshine with their excellent customer service. They are a team that believes that every event is of UTMOST importance. They drove two hours to cater this event and I had to make them go home. They did not want to leave because some guests were still drinking sweet tea and they felt obligated to serve them. So if you hire these guys, they are the real deal. They go above and beyond. Snag ‘em if you are having an event. They will bring the sunshine in every way. And at the end of the day, that’s what is important.

I hired Sweet Magnolia Catering for my wedding this past October. I asked Richard to change the menu/linens and many of the other various items several times, and each time he said no problem. On the day of, not only was the food amazing, but everything flowed very smoothly and I have no doubt it was due to his organization in the kitchen. Our office had a very casual meet-and-greet for our new CEO (light horderves, finger foods...nothing too extravagant). After calling around to various caterers and explaining how casual the event was, I got the impression I was being brushed off by many because my needs were so small (not a big, fancy wedding worth thousands in food).Richard with Sweet Magnolia was nothing like this. He treated me and my tiny order as though it were a big, fancy, expensive order. In other words, I felt my needs and satisfaction were important to him. He worked with me on budget, gave me a variety of menu items to choose from, and put a lot of care into setting up the table with garnishments and presentation. Richard catered a bridal shower for my cousin last month and I mean all of the food was absolutely delicious. The experience we had with Richard, starting with initial contact up until delivery and setup of the food was simply amazing! He was extremely professional but also very welcoming and friendly. Richard catered our wedding on New Years Eve and I couldnt tell you how satisfied we were with Richard and his crew. Richard took the time to develop a custom Caribbean theme menu because we wanted something different from the same old stuff you have at a wedding.Everyone raved about the food, everything came out hot and wasnt warmed up in a microwave and you know when that happens, chicken and beef get chewy and just lacks taste. I can vouch and say Richard hands down is one of the best caterers in Atlanta and whenever my wife and I have another event where catering is needed we are calling Richard! He pays attention to every detail and takes pride in his craft and you cant ask for anything else in a chef.

Sweet Magnolia catered our 50th Wedding Anniversary party. We had over 100 guests. Literally everyone truly enjoyed the desserts and beverages served and many made it a point to let us know how wonderful everything was. Richard went above and beyond anything we could have asked for our wedding and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a full service caterer and staffing for your wedding and/or event.We initially reached out to Richard looking for a vendor to make appetizers for our wedding (we had different vendors for the other courses). He had a wide selection of foods choices, where we selected four appetizers, our personal favorite (and the one with rave reviews from our guests) was the Mediterranean Grilled Lamb Chops with Cilantro Mint Aioli.In addition to the food, Richard offered very competitive pricing on other services as well - servers, bartenders, linen rentals, silver wear, full bar package, and so on. He was very conscious of our budget and offered multiple alternatives for each decision, which was greatly appreciated. Since our reception was at a venue where we could bring our own food and alcohol, it also required us to take care of everything else. Having Richard to take care of so many items was such a huge blessing.

The entire experience with Sweet Magnolia Catering was exceptional. They catered a Kosher Kiddush for my granddaughters Bat Mitzvah. Not only was the food delicious, it was also plentiful. We used Richard for our catering at a race track in Denver. He did a fantastic job. He adapted to the environment very well. Rain, heat, sun and wind did not hamper his services at all. The food was excellent and we had nothing but compliments from our guests. He kept the kitchen area clean as well. We will definitely use him again!
The Foundation that I am part of had a Black Tie Event in Dallas GA and Sweet Magnolia catered the Event. The food was beyond delicious. Richard and his staff were so kind and accommodating. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Any event that our Foundation has that needs catering, I can promise you I will call Richard.

Who raves about wedding food?OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!I cannot express in words how delicious and beautiful the food was for our wedding! Richard provided an extensive menu for us to select what would suit our friends and family. Then he let us modify from there. (But our modifications were minor: butter sauce on the side so my vegan sister can eat the veggies.) Which leads to another point: Richard never batted an eye when I mentioned dietary needs, and had set food aside for four people. That’s incredible service!After securing Richard to cater our dinner, I approached him about dessert. I asked if he could do a display of mini desserts, and make it look like a wedding cake. This was a beautiful collaboration! He had so many ideas (styrofoam, pillars) then incorporated my style and the lace from my dress. It turned out so elegant, and clearly conveyed to our guests: you’re not getting cake. Instead, we had seven desserts! (This is why we rave about our wedding food!)But let’s go back for a moment. From my first conversation with Richard, I had a feeling he was the one. We talked about budget, cuisine preferences, and desired variety. Within a day I had a proposal with 4 pages worth of menu options! It was tough to narrow them down. Our tasting with Richard was far and above better than any other tasting. I knew after the first bite he’s it, and told my then-fiancé this was our guy. Every step of the way he was accommodating: the dessert display I spoke about, I asked if we could have an infused water instead of a sweet tea (chef’s choice), a plate of appetizers set up before service for the two of us to have after our ceremony, and above all: he worked very well with the day-of coordinator to insure everything went smoothly.Even the leftovers were good!This foodie is so grateful to have found Richard to cater my wedding.
Sweet Magnolia provided by far the best catering experience I have had thus far. We had them deliver the food the day before our event and they provided reheating instructions as well as several additional supplies to make it as easy as possible. As far as the food, it was PHENOMENAL. I selected Sweet Magnolia specifically for their diverse and robust vegan options, and they certainly didnt disappoint in either the vegan or non-vegan dishes. Richard and his team helped us with hosting 20 young adults for the Lassiter Prom this weekend. A few key points to consider when deciding on Magnolia:1. Attention to detail in understanding what you are trying to accomplish with the event. Type of event, type of food, etc. 5 stars.2. Service. Punctual, coordinated, super friendly. Expert at his business and one of the nicest guys. 5 stars.3. Price. Tell him where you want to be per head or event. For us, it was simple. He said here is what I can do for the $$. What he didnt tell us is the VALUE he actually delivers is about triple what we paid.4. Food quality. Forget about it!!!! He is obviously in love with what he does. Truly fantastic. 5 stars.I would consider us particular in hiring these types of services. We established a relationship with Magnolia on this one event and we will likely not consider another caterer for our small business (The Bar Method) and family events. He represents the kind of proprietor we will gladly spend our money with and suggest the same to ANYONE we come into contact with. Cmon community! Help Richard build his business!
The presentation is magnificent, culinarily diverse, and colorful! People always went back for a second and third helping. The staff was prompt, helpful and discreet when setting up and clearing away. I recommend SMC to anyone who is looking for an affordable and memorable experience!

2022-05-31Richard and the Sweet Magnolia Catering crew were the FAVORITE of all of my wedding vendors! His communication was incredible, he went above and beyond to cater to each and every one of our needs, and made sure that we had the most seamless wedding day! The food was INCREDIBLE. My guests are still raving about the food and kindness of his wait/ bar staff! He went out of his way to make sure that my husband and I had a full plate at the beginning of the reception, and never had an empty drink in our hands! One of my favorite memories from our wedding is when one of our bartenders caught my bouquet (on accident) - she was such a great sport about it, and even danced with the groomsman that caught the garter! If youre looking for great food, and even better people to work with look no further- you will not be disappointed!

2022-05-22Wow. Where can I start... The experience with Richard and Sweet Magnolia was excellent from the first interaction to the wedding. We read the glowing reviews and knew we had to at least set up an appointment for the tasting. From the tasting, we got to know Richard and the amazing food. He is extremely friendly, hard-working, and a talented chef with a passion for what he does! We didnt expect to be full, especially after some of the other tastings we went to, but we were stuffed (happily)!Richard was so flexible with the menu options and provided awesome feedback. He was very responsive and with his attention to detail, we knew we were in good hands. At the wedding itself, Richard could not have been more professional and sweet. He made sure to find us when we were taking photos during cocktail hour to ensure we had food and drink. The level of service from him and his team at Sweet Magnolia was incredible!And the food! Our guests loved the food! We received especially high praise for our vegan/gluten-free/dairy free menu items. We added those to cater to the few guests in our party that had those restrictions, but those items turned out to be some of the biggest hits! The beef was also excellent.Really cant recommend Richard and his team at Sweet Magnolia enough. His excellent cooking, friendly and super helpful attitude and work ethic really helped make our wedding as special as it was!

He catered our holiday party and the food was amazing! Unique dishes that tasted wonderful! He gave me feedback about our selections and what worked best together. Not a single thing was a miss! The food was wonderful and the entire staff was professional, personable, helpful and easy to work with. Each person was on top of each detail, anticipating things we might need or want to do in order to make the event better and easier for my husband and me.We appreciate how accommodating you were to us with our requests and you all took the reigns and allowed us to enjoy and celebrate the evening with our kids. 2022-07-20I had Sweet Magnolia Catering at my wedding in 2014 and have to say that it was by far the most professional and elegant catering I have had at any event I have been to. The quality was so high that we compare all other catered events to Sweet Magnolia Catering. I have yet to see any catering company that comes close to the standard that Richard sent!

The result was a very memorable event! The food was excellent and the service was sincere and top notch. We received many compliments on the food and service from our guests. I didn’t have to worry about a thing and was able to enjoy the evening with family and friends.
