My fiancé and I went out to GA to visit my family. After a visit to my sisters grave, we saw this place and decided to try it (we love asian food especially ramen and sushi!) We got Ramen, sushi burritos, and bubble tea. The service was amazing and polite, we ate outside in a great atmosphere and the food was incredible. It saddens me that its 4 hours from my home because id eat here a lot if I were closer!!! Love they are downtown near all the other shops, and the park. Keep rocking out, and making incredible food!
Land & Sea Bowl and Super Poke Bowl (friends dish) were both fresh and delicious. Definitely will be back. This is right next to the Bocci Ball Court. Its well covered with fans and outdoor seating (preferred over inside seating. They have a wide selection of food and drinks. Counter service similar to a Jasons Deli where you are given a number and meals are delivered to your table. Lots more to choose from and a great outdeoor atmosphere. Well be back.
The food was great, they had at least a fee different vegan options: I got the Ramen and my fiancee got a rice bowl with tofu, both were delicious! The outside seating area is very nice. Its a little pricy but the portions are pretty large so well definitely come back when were in the area.
The establishment was clean and the service was friendly. My friend got the poke and I got the tonkatsu ramen. We both liked the taste of our dinner. On the other hand, my friend got really bad gas that lasted for hours. And I also had an uncomfortable pressure in my stomach but that quickly turned into food poisoning. 12 hours after I ate and I’m still feeling the effects of the food poisoning. I’m assuming that’s not normal compared to the other reviews, but it’s extremely unfortunate.
Decided to try this place on vacation and was not disappointed. There seemed to be a lot of good options around this restaurant but we chose this one. Aside from the cashier looking absolutely miserable like she hated her job (got to see her use her fake smile, eye rolls, and everything) everyone else was great, the food was great (I had the pad sei-ew), and they have nice outdoor seating to enjoy the evening air. Id definitely go back if Im in the area again. We ate there on Saturday 04/02/22.
Outstanding fusion menu. They have great portions and if you like sushi, you will love their burrito rolls and sushi donuts! Dont worry if sushi or poke bowls arent your thing because they have Ramen bowls, asian inspired empanadas and good thai food too. They also have bubble teas. Definitely worth trying if youre a foodie or just curious!! Ill be going back again.
Such an excellent place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have excellent coffee, bubble tea, poke bowls, empanadas, ramen and more. Plus, an excellent customer service. Multicultural and all kinds of flavors. It quickly became our favorite place for ramen and poke bowls.
This was amazing. Theres so much to say. First off the building is clean and it is very well designed and appealing to look at. Second the atmosphere is perfect. The music is not too loud and the spacious environment dissipates sound so that talking and other noise is muted. And lastly but most certainly not least is the food. It was incredibly delicious. So flavorful and tasty. Wonderful experience 10/10 would recommend.
I hate being the dissenting voice in a crowd of rave reviews. I have no affiliation with other the owners of the place nor did I have a particularly bad experience. I’m glad that there’s finally a place to get sushi type food. For me, the food was... adequate. We ordered the KungFu-Ritto, Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen, and the Spicy Tuna Nachos. I think my favorite of the three was the burrito. Good cuts of fish and well seasoned. The ramen broth was ok but unfortunately was room temperature. The noodles were marginal. My wife liked the spicy nachos. There are several factors that go into my perception of a food establishment - taste, quality, atmosphere, vs the price. But for me, each dish was about $1 too high for the quality. I wouldn’t dissuade anyone from trying it out as it’s definitely worth trying. I’ll probably go back to sample some of the other dishes but on this go around I didn’t find Sweet Octopus particularly memorable.
Cute place that opened up recently. They were packed and its still soft opening. Ramen was a bit salty and more on the side of luke warm but again they were busy. The sushi donut was really good and the rice was seasoned well. It was a bit hard to eat since it kept breaking but thats okay. The sushi burrito was good, lots of veggies to give it a crisp texture. Theres Thai food here that was surprising too! The basil beef felt home made ^^. Theres lots of staff training this week I think but they are attentive and its clean. Theres also boba place upstairs. They also have a lot of different sakes and drinks to try if youre into that.
We have ordered from Sweet Octopus quite a few times now. I typically order through ubereats. I have tried two of their poke bowls, which are decent. My kids love their empanadas. Their spring rolls are good, but sometimes they forget to give the duck sauce. I really liked their spicy tuna nachos. The calamari was ok.
Sweet Octopus is located on the strip of Duluth Highway in downtown Duluth. Because this restaurant is located in downtown Duluth, the parking is limited. You can find plenty of free parking behind Noona or by the school. The restaurant itself is 2 stories. The bottom floor caters to food while upstairs caters to bubble tea and empanadas. The 1st floor offers a variety of ramen, raw sushi appetizers (make your own rolls), and different curry dishes. Although this place claims to be a Thai fusion restaurant, there wasn’t that many Thai food selection. This restaurant is self served. You order at the counter and given a buzzer. The 2nd floor offers a combination of bubble teas, fresh squeeze OJ, and empanadas.——We arrived on a Saturday lunch around noon. The place was starting to get busy. We got some bubble tea and empanadas from upstairs and joined our party down stairsFor my meal- I got the make your own ramen. Pretty delicious since you can customize it to your liking. My friends got sushi donuts and different curry dishes. The sushi donut was not worth the price and the curry dish was too dry.Over all, everything was fine. Nothing special or nothing fancy. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this place.
A cute place with a name to match! Ive only tried the empanadas so I cant speak on the ramen but I will say the place was filled, top to bottom, with patrons of all ages enjoying their different meals. Now, for the empanadas, I tried the guava and the pulled pork. The combo was pretty good for a lunch meal. The guava was smaller than I expected. I would have loved to have more because it was so sweet and sweets are my favorite. The bbq sauce with the pulled pork empanada was not my favorite but it did help add some needed flavor. It was much larger and filling than the guava. I came pretty hungry and probably needed 1 more of either to be completely full so keep that in mind when ordering. There is a ton of light in the building and even a patio with a gorgeous view you can use on warmer days. Everyone working was extremely nice and had a huge smile on their faces.
And guess who came back! I decided to try the sushi roll called the Uncle Iroh (which I mean, hell yes) this time around, fried tofu, spring mix, beets, carrots, miso dressing, sweet chili peanut sauce, and fried shallots. It was absolutely delicious. So bright and fresh, and just a damn good meal. I plan to eat all the vegetarian items on this menu!
I was disappointed for several reasons. First I must say it is really overpriced for what you get.We had some fried shrimp for an appetizer $7.50 for 4 little shrimp was a tough startPad Thai was a normal size but $18 is a tough call with 6 shrimp in it.The wife had coconut cream sauce with some vegetables some rice and some shrimps half cold $17.50Service…. well appetizer came with the wife’s food my food came when the wife was half done. The taste of the food was good so more than 2 stars I can’t give sorry
Be careful with their Poke bowls and fish any type of spicy Fish. In our party and only 2 of us ate the poke bowls and both had severe nausea and threw up within the next hour. Their spicy tuna in poke bowl is something to stay away from! The fried rice and Ramens were very good and tasty.
Try to this for the first time. I like almost everything here. The ramen is very popular. I had the poke bowl that was great too the Empanadas was good too only thing I didn’t like was the spring roll. I’m not a fan of boba tea but my family said it was good too. Highly recommend.
I love this place! The food is Fantastic ! I have returned several times and the food has been consistent and fresh each visit. Favorites so far Pad Thai with Chicken and or Shrimp, Donuts, Vegan Roll app, and the Poke Bowls. They have very spacious seating outside. Great selection of refreshing drinks that will be great for the Spring in downtown Duluth. They created a points program that is nice. This place is doing it right. The Staff is attentive and Nice !!
Nice place. Fusion of Asian and Hispanic foods. Their poke bowl was very fresh and the sushi doughnut was kind of small but still good. The poke was more expensive when you build your own compared to other dedicated poke places.Their beef empanada was good.Boba upstairs is pretty standard boba place with good flavors abs toppings.
Great SE Asian style curry and pretty good bubble tea upstairs. The outside eating area is extensive and has a pleasant atmosphere, although Duluth should close that segment of West Lawrenceville St to cars on weekends. They do it sometimes, but as more people can go outside, it would be great to make it pedestrian only. In short, its very good bubble tea and Asian fusion dishes, together in a fun location. The combination makes it worth the trip, especially when the weather is nice. Enjoy the patio or the upstairs deck. Good for families with kids who have graduated out of the only chicken nuggets phase.
Total waste money and time! food has no flavor. I ordered the ramen. the soup base has no taste. the shrimp dumplings was worse than the frozen ones I bought from grocery store. Wonder where they got this cheap stuff?I only took a few bites. There are flies in the inside dining area. I definite wont go any more.
I ordered the chicken Pad Thai and it was so juicy and had a lot of sauce on it. This is the best Pad Thai dish Ive had. Usually when I order it at other restaurants, it comes out a little dry. Really great restaurant and service as well! They also have a dog friendly patio area!
Very happy with this place and will be a return customer. Yesterday I ordered a sushi burrito and I asked to add cream cheese. The cashier thought I asked for kimchi (completely understandable) and the owner came up and made it right immediately. I was made another and he allowed me to keep the original to try. Overall a great experience!!
The food was very good and they had some very interesting dishes! Definitely would recommend! It is more of a fast cas place, so for a quick meal or a casual gathering. Downstairs is small, but they do also have a spacious upstairs. Heat lamps outside do not work well though.
Absolutely disgusting, asked for firm noodles they were mushy. Like I got them from the grocery store, food was like warm. Calamari looked like onion rings not worth the 53.00 I spent on my Visa. Restaurant was very dirty. Never again. Go to Umaido if you want good ramen.
Everything we tried was so good. I got the shrimp curry and it was delicious. Vegetable were crunchy and perfectly cooked. I can’t wait to try their poke bowl next time! My friend got the poke bowl and it looked amazing. The tuna pieces were huge! Their boba was also really good. They also have very relaxing outdoor seating with fans.
Ive only had their shrimp roll, poke bowl, empanada, and sushi donut from here. So far, so good. However, prices can be high but I get it. What sucks most is they USE to have empanadas on their third party delivery apps, such as UberEats, DoorDash and what is available. I dont know why its taken off now? We called yesterday to ask if they were still serving empanadas and they said they were, so why is it off the freaking menu? I talk highly about it to my coworker and shes been wanting to try it, however we dont have the time to drive 15-20 min because of our job. Disappointed in that.
Ordered fresh bowl and love the amount of salmon they put in the bowl. The espanada is larger than I thought and very tasty as well. The tan tan noodle has soup in it too so it is more like a ramen instead of Chinese traditional tan tan noodle, but it works well for a change.
Some friends and I chose to visit this restaurant on impulse, and it turned out to be real treat. I cant comment on their Empanadas and Boba tea since I didnt have any, but their Poke, Ramen and the Bangkok ribs were met with glowing reviews from my group. Its got a great atmosphere and has quick & great food.
BEST POKE BOWLS I HAVE EVER HAD! They have build your own options as well as pre made options. Either way, the portion size is unbeatable for the price. This place puts others to shame. My husband gets the ramen which he raves about! All around great place to eat with exceedingly friendly staff. 5 stars all around!
The food here is ridiculously good! Space inside is kinda small, not meant for a high volume restaurant. Everything is made fresh so be patient because it is worth the wait. Broth is way better than other competitors in the area but that’s why it’s more expensive than the others. Would highly recommend!
I visited as an out of town guest for the first time recently. First impressions: this place is situated in a wonderful, central location; there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available at this two-story cafe; the menu is huge! At first I was a little confused at what exactly this restaurant offers or what makes them, them - their menu seems to be an offering of food from five different restaurants - one that specializes in Thai, one that does ramen, one that does poke bowls and sushi burritos, another that offers empanadas, and one that is... a coffee shop? The great quantity offered makes me hesitate and wonder if the quality will stand up to it.My husband and I ended up ordering a sushi burrito, a Massaman curry dish made w/ impossible meat, a bubble tea, and an americano.Price: seemed a tad steep for the portions we received - lunch-sized portions for dinner prices. We were hungry sooner afterwards than we wouldve hoped.Quality: Decent. Bubble tea was subpar; I would not return here for it, as there are a multitude of boba shops in the area to choose from. Americano was good, but its a difficult drink to mess up. Food was delicious, but again, portions left more to be desired.Space: Was perfect for a social-distanced gathering. I felt quite safe in my seating area during my time spent here.Overall, this is a fun place to meet and gather with others, but if I have specific cravings... I would not go out of my way to return.
Please add them to your short list of favorites and support local, especially during this time! We called 30 min before they closed last night knowing it would take us some time to arrive(live in Snellville). They couldn’t have been nicer and the food was A+, as always! Can’t go wrong with the Red Curry Chicken & Shrimp or the Salmon Donut!! Amazing food and the best staff.
I had the curry ribs and they were delicious! Coconut water is WAY overpriced but not necessary. The atmosphere was okay, there was pop music blasting pretty loud and didnt seem to fit the atmosphere for me. I would put 4 stars but the food was really good and Id rather leave feedback while still promoting the restaurant. I will be eating here to try more food plain and simple.
Was waiting for the restaurant to be completed and open up. It opened right at the beginning of COVID-19. Finally got a chance to check them out, nice concept. Upstairs is more pastry café, selection. Downstairs has traditional Asian dish’s. It was pretty good. Spicy, wish I would have been informed that it was spicy ahead of time. But overall I enjoyed my meal.
Its stylish and lighthearted in a way. While I was looking at the menu while ordering I mumbled to myself is that from Avater the last airbender and the lady helping us said yes and so is this other menu item. I was very surprised. Anyway I had my dog with me and ordered my food to-go, I needed to keep him outside on the patio as I waited. The people saw i had my hands full so they offered to take my food out to me. They are super friendly and attentive, A+ on service. The amount of food and creative approach on sushi/poke is pretty awesome that Im sure people who like seafood will find something they like here. They even have a bar/Cafe upstairs for the drinkers while keeping the dine in area on the main floor incase you want to bring the family. These guys touch on a lot of bases with a modern pop culture feel. I absolutely recommend this place.
Went there for food truck fridays in city of duluth. live across street and it was a beautiful night. no good food trucks or lines were too long so we opted for our ole staple, sweet octopus. but last night they failed. no one in line when we ordered curry, a poke bowel and spicy basil. we were told a thirty minute wait but no problem because wed run into friends. after 35 friends got their food and left but we waited another 30 minutes and were told our order was lost. no one offered explanation or refund. i had to ask for both. servers completely unapologetic and the one who refunded me told patrons she was assisting that i was complaining admit the wait. (she also kept the tip .) i spoke to no one except friends and didnt appreciate being disparaged. so i asked what had happened. they didnt know except thai line was backed up and something about a machine running out of paper. the piece of paper i had said ordered at 746pm and cashed out at 9pm. smh
It turned out tuis is Korean restaurant. I ordered a Buritto and it is actually Kimbab - it was better for me personally. Ramen is also nice, my 27months old boy almost finished the soup. (He is too young to take ramen yet, but he snatched daddy’s food and we were not able to stop him...) luckily it wasn’t so salty, so all good.
Great food.I love ramen and was finally able to come try the ramen here. We ordered the spicy tan tan taken, gyoza, spring rolls, and chicken pad thai+Chicken pad Thai was delicious+Spring rolls were freshly made and amazing+The gyoza were slightly crispier than Im used to and it was a welcome texture. The pork inside was phenomenal+The ramen broth was sensational. I like bamboo in the ramen so that was a pleasant treat and the noodles were the perfect size, not too thin and not too thick.+The restaurant was very clean and the staff was niceNo complaints from me.Cant wait to go back and try the empanadas!
Really good. I like how they stamp the empanada with the type of empanada it is. My wife and I got boba tea, a build your own ramen, a Hawaiian empanada, a bulgogi empanada, and a banana nutella empanada for dessert. Our favorites were the ramen and banana nutella empanada.

2022-02-16The food is pretty tasty at this spot. I had the ramen and my partner has the curry and both of us enjoyed our meal. I think my favorite thing was the salmon donut which was absolutely worth getting because it was the perfect sushi donut. If you’re in the area, I recommend stopping by this place if you want some Asian/Thai food and they have a good selection of items for everyone

2022-06-20They have a variety of food options for everyone. The food came pretty quick and had decent portions too. We also ordered the empanadas, but I didnt like them as much. Beer options were limited, so we went next door to get some beer on tap. There is plenty of outside seating and its dog friendly too.

2022-06-03Spicy Seafood Ramen was nice and soothing, with spicy creamy broth, shrimp, mussels, squids, noodles, sweet corn, black mushroom, bamboo shoots, scallions, boiled egg, roasted seaweed….. wish I would have ordered extra noodles…really really enjoyed!!! Also enjoyed the Devil Roll, crunchy and spicy. I’ll definitely back to try the empanadas upstairs!

2022-03-11Great atmosphere to dine in. The poke bowl was decent size and delicious. The staff was friendly. The only downside it is a bit pricey for what it is.

2022-02-02The food was delicious, and the restaurant is well placed in downtown Duluth. Plenty of space for kids to play and other restaurant options. You can find plenty of parking in the District at Duluth apartment on busy days.

2022-08-13I got the chicken ramen and it was terrible. The noodles were definitely what you would expect from instant ramen. The broth was just so basic. For almost 15 dollars you would expect fresh made noodles. The sushi burritos are insanely small compared to price. It was delicious though. This place just cant compare to other ramen spots like Jinya.

2021-10-24There is some street parking available right by the store, or you can park by the park and walk. It’s right in downtown Duluth, so there is quiet a few different restaurants and stores to walk to.Staff all wore masks. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Indoor there is an downstairs and upstairs. Upstairs primarily serves drinks. We had a to go order since we wanted to enjoy the weather and eat in the park.Thai fried rice: it was just average, bordering on the lacking flavor side. Wouldn’t recommend.Shrimp roll: nice crisp and good flavor. Definitely eat it while it’s still warm!Demogorgon Burrito Roll: very flavored and slightly spicy. All the ingredients taste very fresh. Be prepared to take big bites!Beef empanadas: it’s a no go for me. Did not like the flavor. Only took 2 bites, wouldn’t recommend.Thai tea (no picture): tasted like a Thai tea, would recommend!Would be curious to come back a try their ramen.
