Taqueria Tsunami in other cities:
We were not super impressed with the food quality. We ordered yucca fries (something I love) and they tasted stale and microwave heated. Beans and rice were fine. Sushi was super spicy which we werent expecting. My bowl was like 80% rice and just a few toppings sprinkled on top. Probably wouldnt eat here again. But I do encourage others to try their own experience first before they x something. This was just mine.
The menu looks exciting, and the concept of Latin-Asian fusion is cool. However, the service really needs some improvement. It’s visible that some waiters and waitresses are chatting in the corner while we look for our server for 10 minutes during non-rush hours. Meat is not as flavorful as we expected. One good thing about this place is that nice pilot pens are used for signature.
Extremely disappointed being in Atlanta located restaurant. Parking a truck w/trailer treating my wife after a long days work to find menus wrinkled, stained with food, hair, used as coasters and table sticky. We ordered drinks bc we all know what drinks we want and choose not to eat after hygiene wasnt at all what I thought an ATL restaurant should be.One star bc its actually a nice looking place with a lot of potential but sadly looks here are deceiving.
The food is good. For the price, I expected a little bit more but I guess this is where inflation hits hard. The server was not so great, but I’m going to attribute it to the fact that maybe he was tired and this was one of many shifts he worked back to back. I don’t care for the margaritas. I’ve had better. I will go back again to try one of their bowls. It’s a nice location and has beltline access.
Overall the workers very very nice and pleasant. However i disliked the food and seemed to miss on the spices a bit. The Korean fried Cauliflower just missed on flavor. It was breaded nicely and was coated but wasnt really doing it for me. The South of the Border Bowl was unflavorful. It just was coated with tomato sauce mixed with rice and corn, peppers with avocado. I opted to add tofu as my protein and removed the sour cream. For vegans or vegetarians this restaurant is very accommodating. However, for authencity of flavor is just missed on it. The Tofu tasted like nothing honestly.
Well to start, I frequent this place for its great food. However, this particular time I ordered a to-go order and they didnt put my sides in the bag. I didnt notice it until I got home. This was about a $47 order which included a $9 tip! I called immediately after discovering the mix up and spoke to one of the Managers. He said that he was sorry this happened and would reimburse me the difference of the cost of the missing sides. Unfortunately the Manager has not honored his word and as a result I will not be back. Be careful please double or triple check your order when ordering from Taqueria Tsunami.
The food was pretty good. Its a good place to bring people who have different diets as they are very accommodating for everyone. I really enjoyed the empanadas! I got the beef ribs ones. They were freshly made and hot! The beef quesadilla was fine. Nothing special about it. I really like the side of tots with queso!
Good food, but service continues to lack. We used to frequent the Roswell road location that closed its doors. There’s a lot of potential for this place but appears as if there’s an absence of management and leadership to help guide the staff. 1 bartender stayed very busy while 8-10+ servers sit bored on their phones. We cut our meal short (and went elsewhere) due to the service.
We’re regulars here. Tacos are always fantastic. Their sides are… bad. We’ve tried most of them and are always disappointed. It’s hard to make tater tots and fries bad, but they manage to do it. Sometimes they leave the tables dirty but it’s the perfect spot for in and out tacos and drinks.
My first time here. Loved it! Very good attention to detail. Everything came out perfect, even the chipotle sour cream had a perfect swirl. I wanted to try the short rib quesadilla but they sold out. It is apparently very good. I will be back often to this gem. Great service as well! Cant say enough about this cool restaurant. Its on my frequent rotation now. Shitatake Happens in a good way!
This restaurant has potential but could use some improvement. I tried 5 different tacos and they were pretty satisfying, except for the veggie taco, which just felt like I bit into a mouthful of onions. The price point is perfect and they’re filling if you get at least 4. Service was surprisingly slow- took a long time to get our food and all we ordered were tacos. The churros are also very bland and didn’t have much of a sweetness factor. Out of all the Mexican places I’ve been to, the food here did feel healthier than most others.
Food was absolutely delicious. Zero complaints on the food it was fresh, flavorful & filling! We got tacos, tater tots, yuca fries, and short rib quesadilla. We also got s’mores egg rolls for dessert and those are soo good!! The prices are extremely reasonable for this beltline location. Only thing that could have improved our experience was service from the hostess, she wasn’t very inviting and wasn’t really engaged. I would have liked to see more smiles and welcome coming in. Our waitress, Candace was excellent! She was very attentive, patient with our menu questions, and accommodating. We will definitely return!!
I was really happy they opened a location close to where we live. The drinks are great and we love the cauliflower app and korean short rib tacos. Generally we always enjoy coming here.I would like to mention we came yesterday and the hostess was very nice, seated us quickly, and apologized for short staffing. There was also a sign on the door stating that, so no worries there. The problem was our server, Kessler. We asked about our drinks 35 mins in. Instead of just saying Let me go check, or something to that effect, he blankly says Soon I guess. From there hed just drop off food and not say anything. He seemed upset when we asked to split the check, and when we asked to take a drink off the bill we never received, he just came back, dumped our check off, dropped some fortune cookies on top, and left. No thanks, no appreciate your patience, no facial expressions or speaking at all. We felt like a hassle rather than guests. I will still come here because hes an exception rather than the norm, but when my fiance whos been in food service for 14 years is irritated, I know its bad. This guy is not front of house material.
This was my second time visiting this establishment and I enjoyed my experience. This last visit I was charged the incorrect amount and spoke to the manager the next day on 7/12/22. When calling they stated that he was busy and there was a problem that was going on at the location. However he stated he saw the issue and would be corrected. When I called back a week later again they had a problem with the system and I was on hold again for a long time. I decided to visit the establishment to be rudely welcome by a manager. He was very snappy and had a getting and that not one time did I get smart with him or ugly. I just asked a question and he dismissed me. He asked me for my receipt to keep to correct the issue since again they were having system issues. When I told him that was the only proof of what I was charged he went into his dismissive attitude . I told him he could make a copy or take a picture of it. For him to say that well I can’t fix it today the banks are closed. Which I’m aware of this. And when I told him that the other manager stated he was going to work with the GM to fix it, he proceeds to say the GM don’t know what he doing. And I still yet received a resolution from management. When dealing with the public you must learn to control your emotions. I was approached as if I done something wrong. When I my eyes the bartender was tipped $50. Instead of the $22.31.
The food was average, but the service was not that great. It wasn’t clear who the server was, and then our appetizer was forgotten. We almost felt bad for asking questions about the menu. I would strongly recommend the yuca fries, but recommend against the oddly flavored shredded chicken.
The food is a little plain but its not bad. Drink wise its Tequila, tequila, tequila. The drinks I had a spicy strawberry basil and a spicy tsunami margarita. Food was chicken and short rib empanada with a fried shrimp, lime chicken and asian chicken tacos, with tots with cheese. The atmosphere is very contemporary and friendly. I will go back to try different things. Our server was on point with his knowledge of food and communication, I think his name was Isaiah ( I feel bad because I cant remember) he was on point and attentive.
I was very curious about trying this restaurant...I passed it a few times bc I was wondering how they were going to infuse Latin and Asia food at the same time. They did a great job of mixing the two. The steak bowl was cooked perfectly. The margaritis were strong. And the nachos were really good. They clean the tables between customers & use social distancing between seating at the boths and you have to wear a mask 😷 when entering. Great job. The customer service was on point. The manager asked if we needed anything. I cant wait to go back and try EVERY taco! They have plenty to choose from.
The customer service was OKAY, just like the food. Their Calamari Fuego starter is by far the thickest/ CHEWIEST/ worst tasting calamari Ive ever had (compared to the best from Pappadeaux). I ordered the American bowl and substituted the grilled steak for their version of short rib (BECAUSE I LIKE A LITTLE FAT ON MY MEAT) BUT IT WAS LIKE BAD VERSION OF PULLED PORK without the fat. What I would recommend here is to not order take out, or make any substitutions your first time.
I got the All American Bowl. It was pretty good. the steak was amazing! The white rice was okay. The taste was very bland. When I saw fried egg, I thought it would be different, but overall I enjoyed to bowl. They don’t have their liquor license just yet, but the greeter and our server were amazing. I will definitely return again to try something else.
Didn’t like it. I ordered a chicken enchilada bowl, but they were out of chicken, so I got steak. They didn’t have any salsa and the rice wasn’t cooked properly. The bowl was flavorless and kinda skimpy on the other ingredients, so the bowl tasted like beans and rice, which made it starchy and dry. I say no to this place. The wait was too long for not good food too. They put the bowl in a flimsy box that was kinda messy.
Writing this review saddens me a bit as the food here is generally quite tasty. 😋Today however... The rice in my rice and beans was under-cooked😞 and my cheese quesadillas were well, small and bland.😳 On a more characteristic note, their fried yucca was great🥳 and the sauce equally tasty. I have only eaten take out from this restaurant and as I said, usually it was worth the purchase. This time; not so much🙃. Try Taqueris Tsunami in Madison Yards for yourself and let me know what you think. ✌🏽🙂
This location is amazing! I’ve been no less than 10 times in the last three months for dine in/pickup and every single staff member is always quick to help and very hospitable! Karen at the bar always takes the best care of her customers and all of the managers are super helpful. Love the in-city location and will set up camp for margaritas on the patio this summer!!
The salsa was underwhelming and lacked flavor. I had the short rib quesadilla. The flavor was not there. My partner had tacos: asada zing, rich man’s, and aloha. He really enjoyed them and said they were all good. The jalapeño queso was cold. Service was great 👍 Food came out fast. Our server was very nice.
Just finished eating a late lunch here. They were not crowded and we were seated right away. That is where the good experience ended. The waitress ignored us for 15 minutes. When we finally ordered, it took another 30 minutes to get our food. Again, we were practically ignored the whole time. When the f9od finally arrived, my wifes order was wrong (they left the chicken off her nachos). We let the waitress know who offered to fix it. Great! Except when we got the bill, she had charged us for their mistake. I have never eaten at a restaurant where you have to pay because they messed up. I have eaten at the Marietta location many times and never had an issue, but this location is horrible. I would recommend you find somewhere else to eat.
I love going in person. The place is great! However, their online ordering system may very well be the most horrendous pile of trash I’ve ever had to deal with. I cannot even begin to explain how awful it is. It’s excruciating. If you want to place a to-go order, just call it in. Using the same online ordering system as every other restaurant in the city would make too much sense huh? Oh well. Dining in is what matters most and they are great at this location! 10/10 in person. 0/10 online.
The food is subpar at this location and the service is horrible! This is our second visit and the food was bad the first time as well. We thought to try it again before we ruled it out but once again we are very disappointed. I tried the new Asian street corn nachos and it was extremely salty!! I went through my entire glass of water trying to cut the salt taste and the waitress never came back to the table to top the water off or to ask how the meal was. My husband got the beef nachos and the beef was mushy as if it were just the fat of the beef and not well seasoned at all. Once we flagged the waitress down after sitting for 10 mins once we finished our disgusting food she finally came to the table and asked if we wanted the check, still never asked how the food was. We were going to get a dessert because we were still hungry but decided to go elsewhere for dessert with hopes of actually eating something that would be pleasing to the pallet.
I used to work at the Taqueria Tsunami in KY for years until they permanently shut down. Planned a vacation to Savannah Georgia & on my way home stopping to eat here was a must on my to do list. I was very excited to dine in at this restaurant & spoke very highly of it to the group I was vacationing with. When we walked into the restaurant, all workers were very hesitant to seat us when we entered. Very unwelcoming from the start. When we got sat we waited for at least 10 minutes until we were greeted. By the way there was probably 3 other tables in the entire restaurant. Ordered chips and queso to start which didn’t come out until our food arrived. The food was brought out by someone who wasn’t our server who just stood there with our plates of tacos until we could figure out which taco was who’s. Our server was not attentive whatsoever and every time we asked for something she would go to the nearby table right in front of us and talk to her friend before grabbing what we asked for. She also didn’t bring the change back for one of my friends and assumed that the rest was her tip. As someone who has worked in the service industry for years I have never encountered an experience dining in somewhere this bad. This restaurant has a great vibe and food, however would not recommend this location to anybody.
We were promptly met at the door by the hostess who had a pleasant demeanor. We were able to sit on the patio as it was a Tuesday, so the dinner crowd wasnt overwhelming. Out server was great! He was very knowledgeable about the restaurant and made good suggestions. We had the avocado rolls and fried cauliflower for apps. De-lish! The Dragonberry mojito and strawberry basil margarita are a must try if you like fruity drinks. Food came out quickly and was so good! Will definitely return! 10/10!
I visit this location on a regular because it’s closest to my house however the service lately has been disappointing. Every time I visit they waitress never follows up to check on how my food came out and I have to practically beg for a water refill. After my experience today I most likely will just visit another location.
The worst food Ive ever had at a restaurant. I got the south of the boarder bowl and my boyfriend got some tacos. Server forgot our appetizer and both meals were stone cold. For my bowl, I only ate the chicken and threw away the rest. Overcooked rice mush with no flavor and hard avacados that werent ripe yet. I felt like I was eating baby food.
I really like the food. I’ve been to several of their other locations with no issues but for some reason I always have problems with this one. My to-go orders are always wrong, the staff is really unorganized and frazzled even on slow days…I will probably still come here because it is closer to my house than other locations, but I hope they get a bit more organized because it’s getting to be very frustrating at this point.
Went in with my children and niece asked the host was it okay for the children to eat there wings from next door and I order, she said it was okay. But the server kicked us out due to my daughter and niece eating wings from next door. I was going to order food and drinks for my son and I. They apologized as we left but honestly I feel sorry for they server because I’m a great tipper. Anyways, I will not go back to this location EVER! Deep down I felt judged and stereotyped. My spirit is very unsettled with this incident.
1st time going and it was AMAZING. Cant wait to go again!UPDATE: went back at dinner time and the service was subpar at best....food was still amazingly delicious but at one point I thought our waitress quit or cooked the meal herself she was gone so long. The cocktail wasnt worth the $10.Ill go back simply because of the food but Ill pack my patience for sure
Ordered Pick-up 5/5/2021Four mealsIt was ok. Ordered for my office managers. There was initially a bit of confusion when I arrived as the restaurant was unaware of who I was or if my order had been started. After 10mins of waiting at the hostess stand the food arrived. Upon reaching my office we noted that an order of yuca fries was forgotten. I got the Southwest Bowl, and a coworker got the Enchilada bowl. We were both underwhelmed with our bowls. Too much rice with minimal toppings over top. Flavor was lacking. My bowl in particular reminded me of something I would make at 1am after getting home from a night of drinking using only the leftovers in my fridge. Chicken was over cooked and chewy, ingredients were minimal and rice was bland. I am in charge of ordering lunch everyday and it will be a while before we return.
Wanted to give some love to this new spot in the Atlanta Dairies development. Just had a delicious lunch here. Very good variety of tacos and the flavors were on point. Also, some of the best guacamole Ive ever had. One tip, park in the lower lot for Publix and its one store over. Give these guys a shot...
I ordered take out and was really surprised by how good my meal was! The avocado eggrolls were YUM (very similar to the Cheesecake Factory ones which are also amazing). I had yuca fries and fish tacos and all were delicious. They have really good sauces to accompany the food which makes it extra good.
On July 10,2021 my boyfriend and I visited this location in Reynoldstown for dinner about 4:30 pm. The hostess and host were very kind and welcoming. They sat us at a high top table that was near the bar all the way to the right along the wall. We waited patiently for 20 mins to be acknowledged by a server but no one acknowledged us at all. We could tell it was busy so we patiently waited. When the last booth in the corner by the window, next to the high top became unoccupied we asked if we could be moved to sit there. The hostess was kind and moved us and stated again as before our server will be right with us. It had been 30 mins at this point. We thanked her and said ok as we continued to wait, not even a drink order had been taken. After waiting about 40 mins we proceeded to leave the restaurant. We really felt unwanted there and we were saddened by the experience because we really liked the restaurant. Unfortunately we had to find somewhere else to have dinner.
I came in to place a to go order this past Saturday night and Karen did an outstanding job. The restaurant was fairly busy and she still greeted me in less than a minute and had my order placed in less than 3 minutes. Im in and out of restaurants all the time, and if I was forming an All-Star team, Karen would definitely be on it. Thanks, Karen!
We ate here for the first time and I have to say we were very disappointed. The prices arent bad but for 81.00 the food should at least be hot. Besides it being cold the amount of food in them should be more than a tablespoon. We will not be back. After leaving we went next door and got pizza!
Got there around 6:20 on a Sunday night. The place was mostly empty. Took 40 minutes to get our food. All of our food was cold and some of the entrees were missing items. The server never came back to check on us or let us order more drinks in the 40 minutes we waited. Not in a hurry to go back.
If you havent tried this place you should. Great atmosphere. Conveniently located with covered parking . The prices are great. The food will fool you. The short rib empanadas will knock you off your feet and start with the cauliflower. Just wow. But if you want the ultimate in service, sit at the bar and be wowed by Karen. Just exceptional service.
It was pretty good on 4/1/21 @4pm. My waiter name was Cory. She was very attentive, nice and knowledgeable. It did take a very long time to get our drinks. There were less than 10 ppl there and it took dang near 15 mins to get the first round and 10 mins for the second round. I got the short rib quesadilla with a side salad
Okay I’m going to make it super easy fir y’all to get better reviews. Dim down the lights at night, turn on some music, and put the TVs on sports! Also the “made to order guacamole” can’t come without tomato’s because well they don’t make it to order 😂Margs are decent, service was okay... just do those three things above and I swear better things will come!
Today was my first day ordering out from here and honey I will never do that again smh. Paid a decent amount of money for a poor presentation of the food and the taste wasn’t all there on top of the wait. The food looked rushed but I waited 25min or more with no customer in sight. Sorry but it’s a no for me.
In these days and times.... the quality of service is just as important as the quality of food; and the service and food were both A1. From the hostess greeting us, to the attentiveness of our server, to the thanks for dining with us. Weve been to the location in peachtree corners and Roswell rd, and weve never been disappointed. We brought 2 friends with us, and they were very pleased. Lets do our best to support those who serve us and show them that customers care.

2022-07-11The jalapeno cilantro margarita was excellent. Ordered the korean cauliflower for a starter. Would order it again. Had the tuna poke bowl. It was good. Other reviewers stated to much rice. I find that most poke bowls have a lot of rice, but I still like them! Forgot to take a pic of the poke bowl. Service was excellent!

2022-06-16You can spend your money at something better. I had high hopes going to this place, the menu looks exciting but I don’t know what was happening in the kitchen that day but I ordered “South of the border bowl with steak “ and that was not okay, my spouse some tacos and again, just not good. My bowl was basically a bowl full of unflavorful stick rice with maybe 5 or 4 pieces of extra well done steak a couple of corn kernel and some brown avocados.I’m not even joking, it’s just not good. Just another over priced place because of it’s location that you can add to your “done that, being there, never again”. You can see the pictures and take your own conclusion.

2022-07-31You know when you can’t decide what you want to eat? Or you can’t come to a consensus in the group? Just come here. They got American, Asian, and Mexican covered. Then they mash these cuisines together in ways that work well. For example, empanadas filled with Thai chicken or Asian nachos. The prices are really good for both food and drinks, and the drinks are adorable. Really neat, some menu item’s proceeds go to tsunami relief. You get tacos and good karma points. The location is really good being right off the newer part of the east side beltline. There are now enough restaurants in the area you can do a decent “bar” hop, but like the responsible over age of 30 kind. The patio is nice and great for people watching. In the casual way, not the creeper way.Parking, for now, is easy. Madison Yards has a decent bit of parking and is not tyrannical over who is allowed to use the spaces. As the area becomes more popular, this is likely to change.

2022-03-21We just drove in to Atlanta and wanted a place to eat. After browsing the menu we decided to eat at Taqueia Tsunami. Unfortunately they decided not to serve us. We were sat by a very polite and gracious host and sat outside. After waiting long enough to watch 2 tables that came in after get sat and served I asked the host politely of we had been skipped over. He said he would check for us. 4 more minutes and another 2 tables that came in after we decided to leave. I hear the food is amazing as well as the drinks but for us they wouldnt give us a chance.

2022-08-10If you like actual Latin food or actual Asian food—or if you like good quality food of any origin—you will not be pleased with this place. “Bowls” were 98% rice with a sprinkling of other ingredients. “Tacos” only come on flour tortillas. Available flavors are pretty much only salty and spicy hot. The food quality was about what I’d expect from a bar in a c-grade resort, between meals when the actual kitchen is closed and they serve reheated leftovers. Or maybe what I’d expect from a sit down restaurant at an amusement park. Anyway, let’s just say this place isn’t staying open due to the quality of its food. Go elsewhere, you have options. Unless you like spicy, salty rice. If you like that this is your spot.

2022-03-25Order a noodle salad at $10.50 and there were 4 pieces of steak and mainly noodles. Hardly any veggies. Won’t be going back. Rip off!!!
