This is now one of my favorite Marriott properties! The smell when you enter is amazing!!! Found out it is a signature scent they were sold out of the candles during my visit but I hope to have them ship me some. The room was very nice, clean, modern, had amenities that were large in size meant to be shared by all. This is done in an effort to save the planet from all of the plastic bottles. The lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner smelled good too. Logan and Harold at the valet stand were a pleasure and accommodating. Michael at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful at check-in. Keona was very pleasant and accommodating on check-out. The breakfast at the Rhett was delicious - not a ton of options but enough where we were able to find good options. Whenever Im back in Savanah this will be my 1st choice of a place to stay, very impressed!
It seems like the little touches were given big focus at this property and it made all of the difference. It feels like a small boutique hotel with lots of charm, but offers all of the amenities of a large property. The location is great - we walked everywhere from here easily. The staff was noticeably friendly, from the servers at the rooftop bar to the restaurant, the front desk and even management. We loved the water nook and are now thinking we need sparkling water on tap at home:). We enjoyed the use of a suite upgrade to stay in the Designer Suite. We didnt have time to use the bikes but loved that they were offered - next time! The gym was great and we used it daily but it was never too crowded - all of the equipment you could want and space to use it. The pool was great and I actually liked that it was shallow - zero entry and then depth of only 3ft at max and included a ledge for sitting at the end. Seemed ideal for adults enjoying a drink and cooling off, but maybe families would also appreciate the minimal depth - I appreciated the adult atmosphere of it! The restaurant in the hotel has a great breakfast and its served late into the day which is wonderful if youre not wanting to get up early on vacation. The property has a great location just off the riverfront with lots of shops along the water to walk to or pop over to the city market area. We easily walked everything from this property - the Olde Pink House, Forsyth Park, a tour, etc.
This place did not feel comfortable at all for many reasons. The worst part was when I accidentally left my straightener in the room and called them to see if it is in the lost and found. When we came to pick it up they could not find it anywhere and then got angry at us because we did not follow some made up “protocol.” They were basically unable to find it when we arrived and had to come up with some lame excuse. Then they found it at the front desk in a bag. So it was basically there the whole time and they were just too incompetent. Additionally, if the hotel is $500 you would think they would be willing to offer shipping which would be what..$10 at most? Instead they make customers drive 1 hour to pick up and then argue with them. Also, please replace the rotting green apples in the hallway area for fresh ones. This visit was truly a waste of time and money & I regret using my vacation time staying here.
A Marriott Autograph hotel that boasts of a modern sheik vibe, yet very relaxed. A hidden gem in Savannah. If you want quick access to the restaurants and bars on River Street without overspending for a River hotel, this is a great choice. A walk down a flight of stairs landed us on River Street and across from JW Marriott. There are many cozy seating areas in the lobby, bar area and a fire pit patio. In addition, there is a work station for those needing computer access.I really loved the open concept highlighting the cutest gift shop without walls for lots of unique gift and personal options. The best part was getting free wine in the afternoon, and enjoying a relaxed evening on the casual, swank rooftop, perfect for pictures, martinis, and laughs. Great service and great pours! The rooms are minimal, modern, clean, and comfortable. Yes to a great shower, soaps, and lotion! I felt like I was in L.A. versus Savannah. Pricing is affordable!Rhetts restaurant is on the ground floor and they do serve breakfast. Remember, you are charged a $30.00 amenity fee that includes wine reception and coffee. So dont allow the waiter to bring you a cup. Itll cost $4.00. Self serve is at the stand for free.Downside, you pay almost $50.00 for parking. There isnt anywhere to self park either. Not even in the apartments across the street!
Ive stayed at this property twice now and will never go to another in Savannah. Between a vacation stay for a few days in 2019 and then for my wedding block in 2021, this property just checks every box. Not only is it beautiful, food at their outlets is outstanding, atmosphere no matter where you want to have a cocktail or have a bite is amazing, the water bottles upon arrival and stations on each floor is such a great value add, its simply a friendly place to be in the best location. Every element is thought through there, even to their cocktail ingredients to their room products. Staff is so kind and I sincerely cant wait to come back!
If you have the means please do stay at the Alida. We were greeted by the valet who were all just wonderful. Starting with check-in, it was extremely smooth and we were provided 3 coupons for $30 off from any of the hotels 3 bar/restaurants and 2 tickets for a free drink from the pool party they were hosting. Very cool! Also, we were given hotel branded water bottles as each floor has a “water station” which is essentially 3 “bar” taps that dispense tepid, cold and sparkling water! Love that. There is also fresh fruit at the stations which is changed out each day. The restaurant on the ground floor, Rhett, was excellent for both dinner and breakfast! It seems more popular for breakfast so keep that in mind and get there early. Also, the free coffee and breakfast are on the ground floor in the bar area next to Rhett. It was a little confusing but we found it easily enough. The free breakfast is only a granola bar. I would have preferred maybe something from Rhett or a breakfast voucher. No big deal honestly. We at at Rhett twice and once at the rooftop bar, The Lost Square. Loved it each time. The room was impeccable. It was extremely clean, cool and QUIET. Such a stark contrast to a hotel we’d stayed in just the previous week. The bathroom was gorgeous and the styling of the room was right out of a showroom. The pool area is the shining star of this hotel. Cabanas we’re nice (reservation only) and there are plenty of chairs. The bar area opens at 11 which service is prompt and provides free water. Waitstaff walk around and cater to anything you need… another drink, food, a towel etc. There is also a bathroom area outside so no need to even leave the party. The bartender makes excellent drinks which are not too sweet. Honestly, they make it hard for you to leave because of how impressive the Alida is. It’s located steps from the waterfront which is very convenient. The valet have your car ready and pulled up moments after you text them. Overall, too notch stay! Not just a hotel, more like an experience!
Clean hotel the rooms are little small it was fine for me being alone I was traveling for business. I do love the rooftop bar and the hotel decor and location. The only issue I had the gap on the bottom of the door you can hear everything in the hallway. The maid was on her cell phone early in the morning talking loud while she was cleaning the water station next to my room.
The hotel is nice enough. However I certainly wouldn’t stay here if you plan to go to sleep before 2 am. City view rooms face the JW across the street that has a roof top bar playing music until 2 am. White noise on, ear plugs in, and my the bass kept me up all me up all night. Would never stay here again.
I want to preface this by stating that I am a Marriott titanium member who has stayed at this property on numerous occasions prior to this last experience. On my stay in late December, I was upgraded to a suite where the sliding bathroom door was so broken that it was largely non-functional. It was so hard to open and close that I had to assist my wife in doing so. Management may try to reply to this review by saying that they offered to change my room. That is technically correct, but misleading. On two separate occasions by two separate people I was assured not to worry because maintenance was going to correct the problem. By day three they finally conceded that they could not fix it, but now we were two days away from checking out and moving was really inconvenient. Management may also try and reply that they credited me back points, but that is also incorrect as they never called me and all point credits have been initiated by corporate. The real issue at hand is that management knowingly placed me in a non-functioning room. What makes this worse is that this room is handicap accessible and there was no way a person with a disability would be able to operate that door. The customer service post-stay was non-existent. I expressed my dissatisfaction with Marriott corporate and requested on multiple occasions for someone from the property to call me to try and resolve this issue. I never received that call, despite the fact that management stated in their system that I would receive a call on January 7th. Today is January 14th and I still have not received that call.Of course I am frustrated and upset that they did not credit me back for my stay, but what makes me most upset is that I have been loyal to this company for well over a decade and have had 100s of stays in Marriott properties. Despite my loyalty, apparently I am not worthy of a phone call to try and resolve the issue. I subsequently cancelled a 10-day stay with a Marriott property in D.C. and I will be looking for Hilton properties going forward as it does not appear that they appreciate their customers.
Amazing property, location and staff! Terrance at the bell standing is a perfect first impression, very welcoming and helpful! Daniel, Keyona and Irvin at the front desk were professional and very helpful as well! Great location, comfortable beds, quiet rooms and loved the in room amber wood amenities. Will stay here again for sure enxt time we visit Savannah!
Not worth the money in my opinion. The room was clean and nice but my curtains were broken and getting a receipt from them took days and a number of calls. The location was convenient but I’m sure you can find somewhere else pretty close by for a more reasonable price.
This hotel was everything I never knew that I needed in a hotel!!! We took a chance to stay at another Marriott property because - why not live a little in 2021 - and we were pleasantly surprised!! The decor was phenomenal!! The customer service was exquisite!! The view was to die for!!! Best of all…the amenities were just what my hardworking family needed!!!
Our stay was fantastic from beginning to end! We were greeted by the valet staff, it was raining, he held an umbrella over me while we unloaded the car. Check in was fast & easy. We loved being gifted the water bottles to refill at the hydration stations throughout the hotel - and 3 choices of water, wow! Our room was the perfect size and included a cute window seat. Lightly was substantial. The bathroom was large and included everything we needed - the toiletries smelled amazing too! Offering guests a complimentary glass of wine each night was a special touch. We also enjoyed have access to complimentary coffee and light breakfast snacks each morning. We were glad to see that the coffee was made available past the original 9:00am cut off time as we liked sleeping in. The hotel is located in the perfect location at the end of river street. Close to shopping, restaurants, bars, distilleries, and breweries. If I return to Savannah, I will definitely return to The Alida - it was like staying at a boutique hotel!
I can down to Savannah to get a retreat from my life back home in Virginia. I was able to get a room the night before my stay (since i planned it on a whim), and every part of my visit was wonderful. From the valet being kind and efficient to the front desk supplying water bottles for the filling station to the bartenders on the roof top bar, every part felt like just what I needed. I needed early check in and called about ten minutes before I arrived. The woman working the desk (i can’t remember her name unfortunately) immediately found an available room and got me checked into it swiftly and efficiently. The king size bed was so comfy and exactly what I needed for the rest I came for. It was easy to get my phone connected to the tv so I could watch movies and relax. Everything was clean and as a woman travelling alone, I felt so safe because of needing a key card to use the elevator. It’s the little things! The rooftop bar was amazing! Highly recommend the cocktail, Hair Full Of Secrets. The little spells are such a fun touch, so kudos to the menu maker. Overall, I loved my stay and will choose the Alida every single time I stay in Savannah.
EVERYthing about our stay at the Alida was exceptional! All members of the staff that we encountered were professional, helpful and friendly. Our valet attendants made parking and check-in very smooth. We especially loved the amenities of the water stations and bicycles. Our room was spacious, clean, and modern with a beautiful window seat to view the river. The rooftop bar was AMAZING and offered gorgeous sunset views and the BEST crafted cocktails by wonderful bartenders. The restaurants breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff were fabulous. The location of the Alida is perfect for walking along the riverfront or exploring the historical areas of Savannah. We highly recommend the Alida!
Wonderful long weekend with the girls in Savannah! Hotel staff was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The water bottles and filling stations on the floors were a great addition and helped eliminate single use plastic. The valet parking team was friendly and efficient. Shout out to Cedric for his help and suggestions for local places to eat. Room was clean and comfortable with an awesome river view from the window seat. We enjoyed the happy hour several days during our stay. We also enjoyed excellent cocktails at the rooftop bar.
We were highly impressed with this hotel. 2 King sized beds in each room was a nice touch and the beds were probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in a hotel. The security measures were impressive and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The only complaint was that our water station was broken on our floor and we were unable to access other floors to fill up our water. It would have been nice to have water delivered to the room or have access to a water filling station down in the ground floor where the coffee is set up.
The Alida is a wonderful place to stay and escape. Rooms are clean & quiet, beds are comfortable, amenities whenever you need. Staff (especially Raven and Irvin) were professional, courteous and helpful. There were temporary authorizations made to my card and both Raven and Irvin were quick to resolve this glitch. When Im in Savannah again, I will definitely stay there!
My wife and I really enjoyed our two-night stay at the Alida. After checking in to a different hotel that was not up to our standards, we pivoted our plans and ended up booking at Alida based on the good reviews and photos. The staff took good care of us and our room was solid. The gym and pool were nice retreats and the rooftop dining was a plus. The brunch menu at the downstairs restaurant, Rhett, was also top-notch. Well definitely consider returning to the Alida in the future.
The valet situation was a bit hectic. When arriving we were asked what we were doing there, which was trying to valet to check in… There is miscommunication between front desk and valet as well. Front desk says valet will store bags prior to check-in in a closet, while Valet prefers in your personal car, which means retrieving the car again. It took us 35 minutes to get our car when leaving so call ahead before getting to the desk. Hotel staff inside were helpful as needed but the housekeeping/ room service staff were the absolute best. The room itself was so clean, as were the hotel premises. The happy hour from 3-5 was a nice touch as we were in town for a wedding and could meet others. The layout of the room is efficient for a couple as well. The location is perfect for walking around the riverfront area or exploring downtown further.
An overall word to describe our stay at the Alida was “Good”. Nothing amazing but also nothing bad. Everything was standard and good. The location on the riverfront was nice but there weren’t any riverfront views. The hotel restaurant was good for a necessary bite but nothing exciting. The aesthetics of the whole place were really cool. The room was good but didn’t have any great amenities (no minibar, no robes, no smart TV, only 4 closet hangers, etc.). The rooftop bar was a lot of fun! The staff was kind.It definitely is a good place to stay but if you’re looking for something super special I’d look around for something different.
Loved the location and feel of this hotel. It’s right on the river and there are lots of quaint restaurants and shops that you can walk to. It’s also walking distance to a fee nightlife venues if that sort of thing is on your docket. There’s a pretty nice rooftop bar, and a decent breakfast location located on the ground level. The price is much more affordable than the JW next-door as well. The staff were all accommodating, personable, and professional.
Loved this location and the accommodations. Very walkable to everything you’d want to see! The room was missing some items you’d normally expect at a hotel (eg a suitcase stand) but the front desk brought it quickly on request. They also provided reusable water bottles and each floor has a great little water stand (room temp, sparkling and cold) to refill. Loved that aspect of our stay. The only major negative was no in-room coffee option and coffee service doesn’t start until 7 am. But overall a lovely experience!
Couldnt recommend the Alida more! The rooms, lobby, pool area, and rooftop bar are all beautiful. We loved the communal water stations on each floor - more hotels should have this! The staff is wonderful and went out of their way to send us treats and give us a voucher for breakfast for my birthday. Breakfast was also incredible - better than even the best brunch places we frequented during our stay! Location is also great being right across from the Riverwalk and across from the main downtown area. Dont hesitate - book the Alida!
We stayed here at the end of August for our wedding and had a small reception here. Upon arrival we hoped for better treatment and parking accommodations given the occasion but no such luck. The floors were dirty in the room along with other guests rooms in the wedding party. We went to put our the rings in the safe only to find out the safe is not securely attached to anything, just sitting in a drawer. We were very disappointed with our overall stay and experience at this property and wish we would have stayed at Perry Lane instead.
The staffed that checked me in was great. The daytime staff not do much. I got up at 8am to eat breakfast at the Rhett. Service was terrible. I was completely ignored. Waited on my check for 30 minutes. When finally got back to my room at 9:30 it been cleaned and I was checked out an my belongings turned into lost and found.
Hotel is cool, in a great location. Room was nice, in room dining was great. The staff though left a lot to be desired. None of the multiple valet staff offered to help with bags or open the door when we arrived. We weren’t recognized as gold members, were given a room with 2 beds when we reserved 1 king. We went back and asked if there was a king available and the front desk person was not cool about the request and told us we were actually in an upgraded room & she didn’t know why we’d want to move (not accurate, we were just in a room with 2 beds and we wanted 1). We did get another room, the rooms are nice, super comfy beds. With all the other great Marriott options in Savannah I would not choose this one again.
I was initially excited about this place, but was let down. For the price you would expect more. The location is kind of out of the way from most of the historic district and they offer absolutely no transportation. The valet fee was ridiculously high and there was no other option for parking. The pictures of the pool are misleading. Its very small and only 3ft deep on the deep end. The bed was not great, very firm and low to the ground. The only thing I can say is that the staff here is awesome. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We went up to the rooftop bar a few times and the bar tender was outstanding. Drink prices were average, but the quality was above and beyond.
Gorgeous boutique hotel with a professional, clean and quant feel. Right in the heart of business and sightseeing on the River front. The staff was very friendly and accommodating… except for the valet, they were not very nice or friendly to guests. The gym had a loud alarmSecurity system that went off every 4 minutes while working out and all the stair cases locked from the inside so we got stuck in the stairwell trying to get more steps in by taking the stairs. The rooftop bar also closes earlier which was sad. They have black makeup towels which is a nice touch and the free coffee was delicious.Beyond the minor issues, great stay!
Couples stay. Great location to downtown.Loved the decor!Borrowed the bicycles to site see around town.Utilized the pool. Nice and warm. And always had clean towels. Disappointing that the bar wasnt open during our stay. But did take advantage of the happy hour service in the lobby. Room was clean and amenities were nice. Loved the built in bench and great view of the river.Rooftop service was good and the view of the bridge was great. Very pleasant experience other than the fire alarms going off randomly upon check out.Only suggestion would be when entering or leaving the hotel, it would have been courteous if someone would have gotten the door for us (with bikes or luggage). We were struggling to go through and there were employees available. Overall loved it!!
The staff here is great and the location is lovey. However, the photos for the city view single king room is not reflective of the actual room. Pay attention to the room size. There is no closet and all you things must be stored on the window seat area which is covered by a large curtain which can’t be opened without uncovering the window. I would recommend selecting a larger double bed room.
I feel a bit bad because everyone has been great. Rooftop bar is nice. Room is fine it’s cute but I absolutely cannot believe the noise coming from the rooftop bar next door and feel a review is necessary so others are warned. It is so loud I can hardly explain. Laser light show creaking in the sides of my curtains. This hotel is right next to the jw Marriott rooftop bar and the music sounds like it’s coming from inside my own room. Unfortunately you just shouldn’t stay here if you want to sleep
I stayed for 5 nights at the Alida. The hotel has a great location with a nice, small pool area. The rooftop has good views and a relaxing vibe. The hotel could be great, but too many hiccups during my stay. No cleaning service (other than towels) for the entirety of our stay. They closed the rooftop one night with no notice to hotel guests. And the valet parking is a joke…$48 a night and we had to wait 30 mins one night to drop off! The staff is friendly and does a good job. It’s a very nice place. I’d recommend if they can get organized on the little things. If not, you could find hotels that try harder for their guests.
Beautiful, unique hotel. The guest room we had was on the corner and was well laid out. We loved the walk-in shower and controls by the shower door, rather than under the shower head.Hotel interior is fantastic, staff was very helpful as well, but we never got the extra wash cloths we requested. I ended up buying one of the exclusively made Stetson hats from their shop as I liked it so much. There’s a unique story behind it but I didn’t know about it until the hotel rep was checking me out.Simple cocktails at their downstairs bar wasn’t that great, but overall, I’d stay here again and would recommend it to anyone considering. It’s very conveniently located as well.
We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. It is a great location. Close to a lot of places to eat. Only downside was parking but we were lucky to find a close spot for street parking. There is a valet but it was really busy when we got there. We would stay here again. The rooftop bar was really nice.
Great hotel in a very nice location with very nice rooms and very friendly staff. Ours had beautiful hardwood floors. Has a lovely pool. Valet is essential (about $20-25 per night I think) as there is very little parking. They bring the car to you very quickly. We all loved the hotel which had free water fountains on our floor. They actually give each guest a water bottle on arrival. A nice touch. Breakfast is very average. Do not order the omelette ... weirdest and worst omelette ever!! Also had dinner there one night since all other places had long waits. Did not enjoy it at all tho the restuarant does have a nice vibe and everyone is very friendly.
The Alida was a gorgeous hotel, in a centrilized location, and had a rooftop bar featuring views of the city and river. The service on the other had was sub-optimal. There was little recognition of our platinum member status. We used a suite upgrade and then was given a regular room, with no acknowledgment of the mistake until we messaged the front desk to ensure they hadnt used the credit. They said they would refund our suite upgrade, which they did. The valet was very unorganized, we went to retrieve our car to find that they had lost our keys. It took forever to find them. The next day we found out we had never even been scanned into the system. It was a nice experience as long as we steered clear of the staff.
We stayed for only one night - but had a very enjoyable experience. Everything was super clean and the room was beautiful! The small touches like the water filling station with your own personal Alida water bottle and daily happy hour in the lobby were awesome. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great for us. We will stay there again!
Rooms were clean but room and bathrooms were very small. While the bed was comfortable it was way to low to the floor. The curtains as doors to the closets are clumsy and get in the way. The room had a hand steamer instead of an iron which was impossible to use. Had to request an iron and board to be sent to the room. The sitting area between the closet is wasted space. It would be better suited to have 2 small chairs and table there. Went to use the bikes to tour the city but one was missing, 2 were in the shop, 1 was broke leaving only 1 bike. Would be better if the hotel partnered with a local bike rental company.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Alida. It was a very beautiful hotel, and had some really great amenities: a great rooftop lounge, spacious rooms with great showers, an inviting (but small) pool area, and a really solid fitness center. My wife and I spent a total of 7 nights at the hotel (book-ended our trip), and we really loved the hotel, it’s staff, and the location. The one drawback was in terms of speed of service. We inquired with the front desk team several times to get softer pillows, fresh sheets and towels, etc. and that took us several phone calls and discussions with the staff at the front desk in order to make that finally happen for us. We put in our initial request at 9 AM, and by 3 PM or 4 PM, the requests were finally satisfied. But I’m splitting hairs, the hotel is a wonderful hotel; the staff cares, including all of the employees there (Front desk, maintenance, and housekeeping staff), and you can tell that the delay was just due to the fact that the hotel is shortstaffed as a result of COVID-19.We would definitely stay there again when/if we return to Savannah in the future.
My new favorite hotel on River Street. Right in the Plant District, within walking distance to city market and all the eateries. The hotel had all the finer touches you could dream of, my favorite being sparkling and cold water on tap for every floor. Also notable, the “double bed rooms” are king size. The rooftop bar, fine dining, zero-depth entry pool, luxe decor touches like the window seats and hidden closets. All of these things combined makes this hotel my FAVORITE I have visited yet.By staying at this hotel you guarantee yourself some of the nicest rooms on River Street, not only nice but sizable for people to spread out. I was here with four girls. Having two king-size beds and so many mirrors with space to spread out our things was a total dream. We were at another hotel in Charleston a few nights before and it didn’t hold a candle to this room as far as luxury or perks.I know I mentioned it above. But this hotel has one of the nicest rooftop bars and pools of Savannah downtown. Right at your fingertips, you can’t beat it.My friends and family are tired of hearing about it. But my favorite part was the sparkling water tap on every floor. They have pre-bagged ice for your ice buckets along with fresh fruit as well. You won’t be disappointed with this hotel. I absolutely promise.
The room are nice, but not intuitive. The hangers and cloth drawers were there, but they were covered by curtains. So it took a while to learn that they were there. Also, the refrigerator unit was covered, so I didn’t use it, since I thought the unit didn’t have one. I figured this out on my last day. The gym has no drinking water, why? That’s crazy! Every Marriott property I’ve stayed at has either water bottles or a drinking fountain. Also, it would have been good to know that daily room cleaning/service was suspended. Ironically, some of the other Marriott properties in Savannah do provide daily room service . . . like the Perry Lane Hotel. For the money, I think I’ll go back to the Perry Lane.
Air conditioner hardly worked. Asked front desk. The guy came up and changed the filter because he stated it was filthy but it still did not blast out cold air. In July in Savannah you would expect to have a nice cool room- especially when sleeping at night. The free happy hour was not at the bar downstairs like it used to be. You had to ask the front desk and that was not communicated to you when check-in or on the card they gave you. You paid $25 for resort fee each day and they did not even give you proper communication on what you get for that. The snacks and the amenities are weak compared to what they used to be two years ago. The staff is not welcoming either. Very rude at times during the day. The location is great to get around however I think their may be bettter options within the city considering the price and what you did not get.
Business travelers beware! There is no coffee in the room or lobby. You have to go down to the restaurant and buy it. I was here for 3 nights, I’m in medical device sales and having coffee while I get up and get dressed is crucial since I get up at 5 am. The valet situation is horrible. The fridge in the room barely works. There really isn’t anywhere in the shower to put your toiletries, there is only a tiny little rack for the hotel sized bottles. They cut out things that really make a difference and are needed. I will NOT be staying here again. Also there is no closet, there really isn’t storage space in the bathroom, no desk to work on
My stay here was disappointing, considering the wonderful reviews I have seen and heard. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great, the staff are lovely. I enjoyed the wonderful smell in the lobby and the friendly greeting each time I walked in from a long, hot day in Savannah. Unfortunately, I was unable to get proper sleep while there. The first morning, I was awakened by a fire alarm. I thought it was a fluke, but it kept going so we left our room and went downstairs (literally took the stairs, since the elevators were locked). I have a leg disability, so this a bit difficult but I managed. I was told by several of the staff that they were just testing the alarm and that everything was fine. It was not fine for me to be awakened by a fire alarm before 9AM. In my opinion, these tests should happen later on when guests are not trying to sleep or hold meetings. The second night, throughout the night, I experienced a noise that sounded like a wet/dry vac going on for hours during the night. I dont know what was going on and I didnt call downstairs as my daughter was able to be asleep and I did not want to startle her. It was very unpleasant and I got very little sleep at all.I did mention to the staff when I checked out, that the bed I slept in (Room 335, bed closest to the window) had a slanted mattress. If you sleep close to the window it is ok, but the side close to the nightstand is slanted downward on the entire length of the mattress. Hopefully they took note of this and have flipped or replaced that mattress. It was not a terrible stay at all, just not what I am accustomed to when staying at a Marriott property. One of my favorite things is how comfy the beds usually are and the wonderful sleep I enjoy when I am a guest. Hopefully I dont sound like Im bashing as that isnt my intent. I just think it is important for you to know my experience so that perhaps others can benefit from the feedback.
When I first stepped foot into the hotel, I fell in love with the décor and overall vibe . On the other hand the room I was given quickly changed my mood. I noticed that the floor was not swept, hair and dirt was in the shower and a bath towel. After making a complaint to the supervisor, without hesitation she switched my room. It was annoying having to move everything from one room to another , but due to the inconvenience I was given a complimentary bottle of wine along with breakfast . Besides the mishap I did enjoy my stay. The staff was amazing! Everyone was so nice and accommodating The food at the Rhett is delicious! If you stay there , its a must to try the food. I also loved the amenities , which were a nice touch. If I do return to Savannah, I would probably check out a different hotel.
The Alida, although a bit pricey is a must stay if you are looking to be in the heart of Savannah! The riverfront accessibility was amazing with so many options for activities and dining. The staff at this hotel was kind and gracious and the rooms were nice and clean! I will definitely consider this hotel on my next trip to Savannah. You did a great job on this one Marriott!!!
Great location. Service at the hotel is good too. There is a good, if expensive, restaurant on site. Breakfast has good options. Good option if you are traveling with family, especially if you can get on points. What could be better, especially for family: 1) no help w luggage...there is a luggage cart. If you have lots of baggage and kids stuff, e.g., pack n play etc.... 2) RESORT FEE of $25. I hate this. This is not a resort, its a hotel in the city. It feels like they just put this fee here to get around a higher rate and/or to get money out of folks paying with points. CUT IT OUT!
This property feels lush upon entry and pulls a unique design flair throughout multiple exquisite social settings. The rooms are well appointed, modern and sleek reflective of a sophisticated traveler. The charm of the dining and entertainment options at your doorstep was only exceeded by that of the staff. Great stay, even in a hurricane. Low rating for dining because there were no morning refreshment options even for purchase. This place is a gem and we will be back!
We booked through Expedia. Upon arrival, we were given a number that was about $300 more than what Expedia told us the final cost would be. We regret not booking with them before arrival. We didn’t like that it was valet only parking and we were completely unaware of this before checking in. It was not mentioned on Expedia. The fee for valet does not match the service. Getting the vehicle back takes a long time even if you wait the estimated time to come to the valet stand. Parking to have the car valeted when we came back from town was awful because there wasn’t any spots for us to pull up and get out at. Our room was decent. We stay four nights and they only came to clean one time which was frustrating! We had to request clean towels once and it took 20 minutes to bring them to us. The battery on our door handle died once and we had to wait for engineering to come fix it. Luckily, they were fast and helpful. Also, the doors shut so loud at the hotel. All night long we heard slamming doors. Last, breakfast was supposed to be included according to Expedia but it was not and we had to pay extra. On the bright side, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! The style and decor of the main areas was beautiful. The location was good. All of the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Overall, this hotel was very pricey and the cost did not meet expectations. We would not recommended this hotel to friends or family.
This location is perfect, walking distance from everything or a nice bike ride; note-the bikes are complimentary :). Also, the decor of the room and lobby area are sooo cute lol. Finally, their restaurant is delicious! I suggest trying the mushroom toast. P.S. their rooftop lounge is really nice as well... I will certainly stay here again.
The beautiful design, location and room comfort were fantastic. We could walk to many different areas of interest ,restaurants and shops. The staff and service were also excellent. The valets and housekeeping staff (Tori ❤️) were especially wonderful and had positive and helpful attitudes. The only drawback was the hallways and common areas. They remained dirty. Slimy elevator doors, filthy carpets; Could use regular deep cleaning.
After having to cancel our reservation at our first hotel, we were excited to stay at the Alida! The valet parking wasn’t a concern as most recent reviews have suggested. The amenities were great! Having a nice restaurant downstairs and an amazing rooftop bar with outstanding cocktails was all we needed. The location is perfect and close to River, with plenty of other restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel was beautiful and clean with daily house keeping. This was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay for our honeymoon!
NO COFFEE IN ROOM!! That is almost like having no bed or bathroom in a hotel. They offer coffee starting at 7 am in a public area. I get up at 6 and would like coffee then and without having to get dressed and go into a crowded elevator into a crowded place first thing in the morning. They actually had no coffee when we did go down there; they had run out. We were there for work and this hotel is not set up for that at all... not only no coffee at a reasonable time to get us going and then out of coffee but no work place in the rooms. One chair that was uncomfortable and a long lounge bench. No good work desk...just a long surface that was covered with stuff because there was no closet or suitcase caddy. Anytime you wanted to use a surface, things had to be moved to another surface. Website said there were comfy handmade robes so we did not bring any. We never saw any and neither did our friends in their room. The outlet I used to charge my phone did not work and I mentioned it to my husband in the morning after he had reviewed the HUGE bill. He jokingly asked if I had paid the fee (charging fee) as there seemed to be extra fees for everything. There is a parking fee of $45 a day, a resort fee and about 4 different taxes ... all of which add about another $100 a day to your total. I understand they cannot control the taxes but they should have a total for the room that is accurate and total, not w additives. The lobby and common areas are very nice but the rooms and what you get are a joke.... for a room that ends up being almost a minimum of $600 a day, you would think you could at least get coffee. They went for form over function but I will take function and comfort any day. We will not return. There are many nearby places for less that give us more.
Hotel was incredible. Very well kept! The lobby smelled incredible. The hotel staff was very friendly! Maurice might be one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Extremely helpful and knew every local by name including their dogs. Next time we come back we will stay here again!
Great location and service (except only one). my room was spacious and well designed. love having the convenience of the pool area and the water refill stations. the lounges/bars are very comfy. food at the rhett was delicious and the bartenders at the lost square rooftop were awesome, the best!
My first impression was that the hotel was located in a questionable area. I realized that Savannah is just set up that way. The hotel was actually in a great area once I got the layout of the land. The valet was very busy and it took a while for them to park my care. The check-in staff wasnt very attentive. They could work on the c ok cleanings as far as the lobby goes. The room was clean. Hotel is in a great location, but I definitely would not stay here again.
Many places attempt to create a luxury design with cheap materials and craftsmanship but not The Alida. From the moment you walk into the lobby the design, quality of work and materials used are full display. The rooms are gorgeous, with a simple yet elegant design, the materials of the bedding, flooring, bathroom finishes are all top quality. We have stayed at many hotel rooms in this price point and this is by far the nicest one.
This was by far the worst Marriott hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff chose to change my room from a city view room to a pool side view. When I checked in I explained that we do not like ground floor and wanted to keep our city view. I was told this is an upgrade and we would love it. I again pointed out no we want what we booked. I was told sorry there are no more rooms available there. I could not cancel at this point so we took the room. We were also told that breakfast was included. That is sort of true if you want 3 choices from the 20 plus choice menu. The food was good, but to be limited to 3 items? I would have just paid. Also the complimentary coffee not a thing. The hotel also booked a wedding event that closed off the whole pool area. Awesome, but the bad part was that their wedding was the highlight of my pool view from my upgraded room view. The noise and people made it very much not enjoyable to my upgraded room. We also had a housekeeping issue that took over 5 hours to resolve. We were told it would be just a bit to get someone in to fix it and then asked again told a few hours. Not impressed at all with the timeliness of the service. We asked for a manager and were told he was in a meeting. The valet service also not helpful as it took asking 3 different people to get my car. After 20+ minutes of waiting and being late for my airport pickup. Not impressed at all.Overall, I would recommend anywhere other than this property based on the extra fees and the total disregard to a members preference or booking. They also do not recognize whether you are a Marriott member or not.
This was booked by my Mom and I for my sister, 6 month old and partner. With dining credit included. I called multiple times to check in the reservation, make sure my card would be charged for everything, and sent in a confirmed credit card form. They still forced her to pay, claimed they didn’t have the card form from me, and ruined their day.1. No reservation shown when they tried to check in- this was a special surprise and this began two days of continued issues and ruined surprise.2. The reserved king bed room was not available!!!3. The dining credit was not shown and created an issue when they tried to utilize4. The room was never cleaned/beds made5. The pool was mostly unusable for our daughter, partner (his first visit to the U.S.A.) and infant as a loud, seemingly drunken wedding or engagement party was allowed to monopolize the pool area, blast loud music and EAT IN THE ACTUAL POOL which created a disgusting water scenario for other guests! The pool was o e of the reasons your hotel was chosen for this gift.6. On check-out, again the surprise was further spoiled because you had not charged us as specified and presented them the bill. We are shocked, disgusted and astounded at the lack of guest care, the disregard of the “surprise gift” status of which we booked the hotel and the general issues. And I still have never been contacted back after leaving message for the manager .
Great location and food at the Alida and JW Marriott across the street. Clean and modern, lots of space to walk along the river. There was also a small water park right on the river and across the street from Alida. We don’t have young ones anymore but the kids that were there were having fun and cooling off. Fantastic food available at outdoor bars at JW Marriott and we had an excellent breakfast at the Alida. All hotel staff were wearing masks and hand sanitizer was available everywhere in the hotel.
We stayed over memorial weekend. Paid a premium for our room. The floors in our room were disgusting. Our feet were black within five minutes. There was dog fur all over the room. Bay window cushion had stains and had not been vacuumed. No housekeeping. Not enough towels in the bathroom. Was provided water bottles at check-in but no water station on our floor. Could not access water stations on upper levels because our key card did not work in the elevators. Our first trip after covid and this hotel was such a huge disappointment.
We absolutely enjoyed our three days at The Alida. The location was perfect to launch our family’s adventures for the day in addition to having an extremely welcoming pool experience. We enjoyed socially distanced interactions with other families outside. We felt as if the entire hotel staff and guests were respectful about the mask mandate and tried to accommodate those with stronger concerns appropriately. This was not our experience elsewhere while traveling this week, so it stands out vividly to my husband and I. Our double king room was perfect to contain the four of us — the large, updated bathroom was adequate with getting two kids in and out and the window bench was a favorite for the kids. We look forward to returning in the near future!
If you are visiting Savannah downtown to party all night, this is your hotel. Otherwise go somewhere else. The outside of the hotel gets so loud especially during the weekend and you hear everything in your hotel room. It lasted till 2-3am so we did not get much sleep there. If you are out all day to explore the city, then the amenities of morning coffee and afternoon cookies/wine are not worth your money. There are many good coffee shops around the hotel. The bicycle rental is a great amenity though. The room we stayed in (upgraded) was big but not impressive or anything. The bathroom shower had some hair left from the previous guest, which made us feel gross. Getting your own water at the hallway water station and a cup of coffee at the ground level were extremely inconvenient (No coffee maker, glasses nor cups in the room) and not something we expected for a Category 6 hotel. Maybe this will change after the pandemic protocol is over? The fitness center was excellent. Staff were just ok. We know that contactless is encouraged but the front desk staff did not even ask how was your stay when we checked out. She just took our card keys and gave us a choice to receive the bill. Maybe we expected too much?? Weve stayed less than Category 6 hotels in Marriott group and were treated better than this stay. Like I said above, you are in Savannah to party all night, this is your hotel. Its close to all kinds of bars and restaurants that you can party all night. The location is perfect. We regret to say but we wont be back to this hotel.
Beautiful chic hotel, excellent location, superb amenities! The front desk staff was friendly, prompt, and very helpful. The hotel layout feels warm and homely, as if you are in your living room at home. Each floor has a water bar with sparkling, still, and room temperature water options. The bar also has small bags of ice for your personal use. The fitness center has good equipment, is clean and well stocked with towels and water. Location is right by the river, with easy access to the river front and shops and restaurants. Excellent experience overall!!
The one negative about this hotel is the parking situation. The only real viable parking option is valet service. It is pretty expensive ($45/day plus tax). Street parking is hard to find. Garage parking is a few blocks away. Lot parking is also difficult to find and not close.Other than parking, I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. It is a beautiful hotel with a well decorated lobby and a wonderful rooftop bar and terrace. The hotel has bicycles available as part of the amenity fee. The fee also includes daily wine, coffee, and cookies. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a slight view of the river. The bed and pillows were very good. The bathroom was spacious. There are 4 elevators. Only one family is allowed onboard at a time. There is a water station on each floor with sparkling and flat water. We found the staff to be very courteous and friendly. The location is great. It is close to River street and the Savannah River. It is close to the historic district with all its beauty. We walked all over the city and ate at many great restaurants all without having to use a car.Savannah is a beautiful city and The Alida is great base for exploring it.
The Alida was great hotel that had a friendly staff and great decor in the lobby as well as the room. The location was perfect as it was very close to the river. In addition, the bed was very soft and cozy. We didn’t have our pets, but it seemed very pet friendly, which is a bonus. My only recommendation would be to call ahead to see if their rooftop bar and pool are available while you are staying there. They have many beautiful events that use these facilities (weddings/parties) and don’t allow hotel guest to access these amenities while staying there.
The Alida is a gorgeous hotel with very short, easy access to the riverfront. My only complaint was that the beautiful room lacked a refrigerator and a coffee pot. There was also no room service to get coffee if you happen to wake up before 7 AM. The staff were amazing. They couldn’t have been nicer or more friendly and welcoming. Thank heaven for Target delivery for a small coffee pot and supplies. Ice was hard to find too; little quart bags on each floor that were empty most of the time. If you have the money to spend, this is a stunning place to stay with a great location. For the price, I would expect either room service or coffee/fridge in the room.
Overnight stop. Staff uniformly excellent. Room spacious, nice firm mattress, bathroom shower especially nice. Love the Red Flower bath products Amber Wood. The hotel should sell it since its not available from Red Flower.Rhett a good choice for breakfast with regional cuisine. The barista gets a special shout out for some of the best espresso drinks we have had anywhere...velvet milk foam.
Seriously Amazing. The room, perfect. The restaurant and bar, perfect. The food was amazing. Loved the upscale, lavish feeling and great pricing. The nooks on each floor with complimentary reusable water bottle with sparkling water on tap was so extra and so perfect, especially for a mom and dad just needing a date night! Location was perfect for wandering around and exploring the beautiful city of Savannah! The coffee and breakfast options were amazing, the best skillet breakfast potatoes and cold brew Ive ever had!
We enjoyed our stay so very much! This was a short trip to celebrate our wedding and it was the most perfect time. The rooftop bar has an amazing view and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel staff were polite and respectful. It’s a perfect location, steps away from Savannah smiles and within walking to distance to countless shops, bars and restaurants. We stayed in the corner king suite, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was perfect. The only negative is that this hotel allows animals and at times many dogs were in the lobby barking etc. The day we checked out, there was unfortunately excrement in the hallway - I urge them to revisit the pet policy or have specific rooms/floors for guests that must bring pets. I am sure there are plenty of responsible dog owners, but it is unfortunate that a few can ruin it for many.
The Alida has all you would expect, and more, from a boutique hotel. The staff goes the extra mile to make you feel valued and the extra touches are so appreciated. The Alida water bottles with the filling stations on each room floor are especially nice as a way to help the environment and keep tourists hydrated in hot Savannah. The room was well laid out, the pool area felt like an oasis, the rooftop bar was great for a before dinner drink, we would absolutely stay here again.
I will only stay here from now on. Alida went above and beyond my expectations! From the time I arrived they made me feel like I was their only guest. I didn’t bring my fur baby, but they were super pet friendly. I didn’t hear any dogs barking at all. They had mini fridges in all the rooms. It was funny because I didn’t realize it till later. The mini fridge doesn’t stick out in the layout and decor.Everyone was so courteous and helpful! Their rooftop bar area was beautiful, and their bar in the lobby was cozy and inviting. They had bike rentals, gift shop area, bars, upscale dining area, elevator to River Street and so much more compared to other hotels. I’ve been going to Savannah all my life and I didn’t realize what I was missing from my trip till I stayed here.
The room was fine. Our check-in experience was not great. The valet ignored us when we first pulled up to the hotel. I stood at his podium and had to wait for him to address us. The valet manager finally looked up and didnt say a word to me until I said, Were checking in. He never offered any help with the luggage, nor did he even help us with the door. I had two large suitcases and my wife had a suitcase and a large bag. We thought someone would at least get the door for us, but we were completely ignored. My wife had to open the door for herself and then hold it open for me. Ive never been this disrespected at any hotel. I came in and explained the situation to the desk clerk and her only response was to give us a room that faced the pool. Big deal! Again, worst customer service Ive ever had at a hotel. After we adjusted our expectations of customer service at the Alida, everything else was fine for the rest of the week. We did try to rent a cabana on Friday, but were told the prices increased to $200. Since we stayed there from Sunday to Saturday, I would have thought they would have at least given us the normal $99 rate, but they didnt. We still spent Friday at the pool and managed to get 1 of 3 umbrellas at the pool area. None of the cabanas were rented that day, so clearly the $200 fee is working out for them. The chair to umbrella ratio could have certainly been higher, there were several chairs that had no option for covering. I just thought this was a higher end hotel and so again, the expectations had to be readjusted. I probably wouldnt stay here again.
Very nice hotel as part of the Marriott collection. It has enough boutique feeling to make it more enjoyable than a large flagship hotel. The pool is relaxing and it has a decent gym. I would recommend it if youre a traveler and youre looking for a place without children. You would probably want to go to the JW Marriott if youre going to have family join you.
Four of us shared a two King bed room, we ordered coffee and croissants, let Billy the bartender craft cocktails for us, drank copious amounts of sparkling water from the hall tap, and walked away with Feelin Peachy swag from the gift shop. The hotel was beautiful and instagram worthy, the staff was courteous and helpful, and the location was ideal.
I recently stayed at the Alida with my high school daughter, in town for a SCAD open house and tour. While the accommodations were attractive, the lack of communication from the staff about the hotels services at check-in left us knowing little or nothing about housekeeping (had to call to ask for), how to access amenities such as the rooftop bar, pool and fitness areas, or room service (they dont have any- take out was apparently available from the in house restaurant). Wi-fi/internet was very unreliable. It was valentines day upon our arrival, so the front desk area was rather busy with champagne and treats for arriving guests (nice). Our room was not ready by check-in time, and when we reached our room, it was not fully clean. (Post wedding, previous occupants checked out late from suite.)I think due to this commotion, we were hastily given our rooms keys and sent off to our room once available. The only how tos given were that the elevator needed our room cards to work and that coffee was available in the restaurant in the morning. Now, here is where they DID shine:The hotels location is wonderful and accessible to the downtown/riverfront area. The food was excellent at the Rhett restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast. (They comped us breakfast for the late readiness of the room.)Every staff member we encountered was friendly and courteous. They were very accommodating when addressing my issues. When we needed to stay an extra night, it was easy and simple to do.They comped us for the amenities charges for our stay due to lack of communication.I give this review for the hotel to know, but really I would come here again, now that I know how everything works. Its a lovely place!
Good location, newer hotel?! If you are busy sightseeing the town, the morning coffee and afternoon wines are not for your amenities. There are many good coffee shops around the hotel. The bicycle rental was a good amenity! It gets really loud during the weekend so if you want a good rest at night, I wont recommend this hotel. The street gets really loud during the weekend and youll hear people shouting outside in your room. Also some of the guests were really loud inside the hotel at 2am. Also, I was surprised that the room didnt even have a coffee maker. No glass cups or paper cups. When you check in, the front desk staff gave you a plastic bottle for you to fill out the water. (Its a category 6 Marriott hotel but....) Maybe this is only during the pandemic!?! We experienced a strange phenomenon 2 night in a row, which all the room lights got turned on around 1am and that woke us up. Very strange... The front desk staff were just ok. The bartender there was kind and very nice though. The fitness center was really nice and we enjoyed working out there. The room was big (apparently we got upgraded) The room decorations were nice. Overall, it was ok stay.
When pulling into the valet section watch out for the huge curb. I spent a whole day of vacation getting new tires put on my vehicle. The valet and staff acted like it was no big deal. Housekeeping never came to our room the whole stay. We had towels that were already dirty when we arrived. The pool looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a month. Cloudy water with tons of dirt floating in it. Not what I expected from a marriott name brand hotel. Your best bet would be to stay at the jw marriott right beside it.
Beautiful chic dog friendly hotel by the river. We stayed with our 2 standard poodles and loved having 2 king beds in the room to spread out. hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated, the beds super comfortable and roof top allowed our dogs to hang out with us and enjoy the sunset. My only complaint is there is no coffee maker in the room and they did not have one to offer after I requested one. No one likes to get dressed before that first cup of coffee!
Had a nice stay at the Alida. This area of Savannah gets really busy and hoppin on the weekends so F and S nights are not exactly quiet.Really nice beds and bedding. Nice little features like water bars in the hallways, happy hour champagne and cookies and coffee/fruit/granola bars for breakfast.Parking can be a bit of an issue if you dont valet park as there doesnt seem to be any parking associated with this property. Found a garage a 10 minute walk away that was $10/day (cheapest) and used that. Closer options were more expensive. Staff did a great job responding to our concerns and requests while there.
It all starts with the staff outside their amazing, then you get to the front desk and the staff provides you with a branded water bottle which I think is even more amazing. There are water stations throughout the hotel, pet friendly, and local shops as well in the lobby. The hotel has a day bed included the double beds are like two kings, the fridge is inside of the dresser (pretty cool). I really enjoyed this hotel. Not to mention the rooftop has a Beautiful view!!
INCREDIBLE Hotel. We enjoyed the beautiful décor and tremendous service. From the Minute we Walked in, we felt right at home. It is conveniently located at the River Walk. They helped us book a tour and gave insight on where to go. Each flood has a water station to fill a reusable bottle, with Cold, Room Temp and Sparkling options.
I cant say enough wonderful things about our stay. When we first arrived, there was an issue with our room. Management immediately jumped in and made everything right. The rooms are so cute and spacious. The restaurant, Rhett, had delicious food. And they have Bikes in the lobby you can take out for free! The location is walking distance to all the popular spots. The entire staff was so pleasant. I will be back!!
I spent 30 hours at the hotel and it was refreshing. The hotel is clean and feels comfortable even in the common areas. The water station on each floor is a nice touch. The location was right near a lot of fun places and they had bikes to use if you wanted to extend your range. I didn’t eat at the hotel but I did grab a coffee and it looked cozy. They seem to take cleanliness more serious than most hotels I have stayed.
We stayed in room 101 and the room definitely needs some help. The cushion by the window is stained and dirty. The night table has a burn mark. The lack of cleanliness was awful. There was a contact lens stuck to the wall next to the bed. Every towel we unrolled had hair. The pillows also had hair. The bathroom vanity area had beard stubble all near the mirror. I never expected to find a lack of cleanliness during my stay considering were dealing with a pandemic and cleanliness and hygiene are so important at this time. I was very disappointed and glad our stay was only for one night however it was an awful way to start a family vacation.
Beautifully designed hotel with poor execution across the board as far as additional service and staff willingness to help us feel at home. Stayed in one of the suites which was not comfortable despite being stylish. No coffee maker in the room - only coffee available was for purchase in the restaurant. Requested a corkscrew and was instructed they don’t have any and you “maybe could ask the restaurant” which only had one that we couldn’t borrow. No effort to help service our needs. Requested help with a band aid from their first aid kit… same response “maybe you could walk to the gas station”. Overall terrible customer service despite a nice property. Would not stay again.
Though I acknowledge the extreme demand and labor shortage that the hospitality industry is currently facing, there were several shortcomings during our stay regarding cleanliness, service, and upkeep. Location and design are awesome! Some operational improvements would make this a great place to stay but until then I would not recommend it.
Do not use the valet service if possible!!! I was hesitant about letting them park my car to begin with because it is new and I’m so careful about where and how I park it. When the valet pulled up with it when we checked out, there was an awful scrape on our front bumper! The valet manager filled out a claim and acknowledged that it was their fault. We were assured someone from the claims dept would contact us in 3-5 business days on July 25th 2021. It is now September 19th and nothing has been done and no one has contacted us. We’ve called the valet claims dept several times to no avail. Sent pictures multiple times. We contacted the hotel and they did absolutely nothing because the valet is a separate company. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
Stayed here as a family with two teen kids. The location was convenient, but with the $25 amenity fee (for water, a glass of wine and afternoon cookie) and $45 valet I don’t think I’d ever return. It was nice to have two king beds, but they were the softest and most uncomfortable mattresses ever.
Modern design that’s warm and inviting. Convenient downtown location. Close to the river front. Great roof top bar. We had a corner room which had huge windows with lots of light. Only downside was construction underway across the street. Housekeeping was a little spotty and restaurant was closed on Sunday evening which was inconvenient - couldn’t get coffee in the hotel - no coffee maker in the room. Overall a good experience however.
Stayed at hotel with my family on 8/2/21, including two kids under 5, while traveling from our Florida home to our NC home. Previous guest must have set alarm for 5am. Hotel staff didn’t turn alarm off waking up the children and ruining the entire experience. I left not one, but two messages for managers after speaking to the front desk. The first at 6:30am (after no one answered at 5:00am and 5:45am. Second two days later. Neither was returned despite me having over a decade of platinum membership and the front desk staff assuring they would be by a manager. Very disappointing, we did a different hotel on the way back to Florida as a result. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast where they brought the wrong order to my wife. She told them it wasn’t what she ordered. The waitress said we wouldn’t be charged for the wrong order… they brought an omelette and she had ordered French toast. Gee, thanks.
We loved the friendly atmosphere. The staff were super friendly the moment we stepped inside the hotel and when we departed. Though we selected to come in a few hours than previously given, they were still friendly. The rooms were beautiful, the complimentary water was great, the bar near the lobby was had a wonderful bartender who kept us entertained (lol). Overall, were very satisfied with our visit. Highly recommend! Big shout out to the ladies that worked on St. Patricks day at 12p and the day after a little close to 11a.
This is considered a 4 star hotel. Much work needs to be done. Upon arrival check in got pushed back to 5 so I guess thats no big deal to a degree but trying to park here is a absolute nightmare. Finally got to valet and they had no luggage carts around, so that made more headache. The people at the front desk were very nice though but much cleaning needs to be done. This place is dirty. The halls were dirty, the elevators were dirty not to mention the floors in the rooms were awful along with dust on everything. The bathroom door was broke in the room, they did fix that after calling desk. This was a ok stay but definitely not a 4 star hotel. Much improvement needed to be a 4 star
There are 8 things to consider when reviewing a hotel. They are #1 - cleanliness/condition, #2 - cost & value, #3 - amenities, #4 - attitude of the staff, & #5 - location, #6 - reality vs advertised offering, #7 - housekeeping, & #8 arrival & check-in.#1 - The cleanliness & condition of The Alida was excellent. Very cool design. Beautiful hotel.#2 - Incredibly expensive. Our room bordered a very busy street that had screaming partiers on it all night. Not a good value.#3 - amenities... there were none. No ice machine or soda machine on our floor. They had ice machines on floors above the first floor but your room key wouldnt allow access to any floor but your own. The front desk told me I could get ice from the restaurant on the lower level. Nope. Closed. Also, no room service. None.#4 - staff attitude... they were helpful & friendly. And apologetic.#5 - location... if youre there to spend time on the waterfront or playing tourist walking around, the location is great.#6 - on their website under Amenities they actually show a picture of a plate of food on your bed implying, of course, room service. No room service whatsoever.#7 - housekeeping... That would be a big, fat ZERO. We were there 2 nights and never saw a housekeeper. For the cost of the room, that was ridiculous. Finally, #8 - arrival & check-in. Arrival/valet was a mess. There is nowhere to pull off the street so we had to stop in the middle of the street & block traffic behind 3 other cars. A mess. Check-in, however, went easily & smoothly.Would I stay there again? No. For the same money (probably less), we could have stayed at much more of a full service hotel. Theres an expectation of service when you pay several hundred dollars a night and The Alida falls pretty short.
This was my first time to stay at the Alida hotel and will NOT be the last. My work has a new contract for all our crews to stay here and after one stay, it is probably one of my favorite hotels that I have stayed. When I come to Savannah for personal travel, I will not stay anywhere else. The decor, friendly staff, roof top bar, delicious restaurant and welcome water bottle with various water options on the floor was cherry on top. The hotels location is perfect for those that dont want to rent a car and walk everywhere.
My wife and I arrived at 2 pm give or take 4/5/21. We had requested an early check-in upon arrival only to get there and have to wait an additional three hours sitting in the hotels lobby. Per Daniel (Manager)- he instructed us that our room wasnt ready. After returning to the desk, Im guessing around 5:30ish we were finally given a room. Unfortunately, the room we were given was taken by a guest who had arrived well after us. My wife and I actually walked in on him, using the key that was given to us. This could have been disasterous due to an oversight by the young lady at the front desk. She was very apologetic. Thankfully the guest made light of things and we had to return back to the front desk to inform them of what transpired. Once we finally got a room, it was not clean. My wife literally took it upon herself to tidy the room up, including cleaning debris in the sink and wiping off spots of feces left in the toilet. Thankfully, we packed our own cleaning supplies. After being in the room for three days we had requested numerous times to front desk and housekeeping, to freshen the room up, after multiple requests we were like forget it. Around day four of our stay my wife unravel a clean towel that contained a glob of hair inside. We have contacted the Marriott to inform of our disdain from each contributing instance that could have been avoided, as well as provided pictures for accountability, training purposes. The doors to the rooms shut extremely loud vibrating the walls. Overall, though this hotel has the makings of a 4 star hotel, we have had better stays in hotels of lesser value. Our negative experience which has far exceeded any experience we have ever encountered at any hotel, was why I rated our stay what I did.On a positive note, the breakfast at the Rhett was great as well as their services. The location is right off of River Street and other historic squares which was extremely convenient. My wife and I travel to Savannah often and we always have a great time. I will never return to this hotel and wish all future guests luck. We were given a few commendations for our troubles which we are thankful for but will not return.
This hotel was very nice. It is in a nice location in the downtown area near River Street. The service was great!! Nice amenities and the rooftop is amazing. The room itself was very clean and up to date! The valet staff were kind and assisted me with parking as soon as I arrived outside.
My family and I stayed here when we visited Savannah and absolutely loved it. Its a gorgeous place. It gave me all the chic, industrial, vintage vibes. Not only was it pleasing to the eyes, but the staff, including Yessica, was amazing, friendly, and helpful. I loved that they gave us empty water bottles to fill and reuse during our stay. The hotel is in a prime location with everything within walking distance. The rooftop bar was pretty spectacular and the pool was beautiful. It didnt feel like it was heated, which we were told it would be, so we werent able to swim. That is the only negative thing I have to say about this hotel and our stay. Highly recommend!
We were always greeted by friendly staff at the front desk and valet. We also enjoyed several meals at the Rhett. However, our toilet didn’t work the first entire night we were at the hotel, and the shower was clogged and no one ever came to fix it, so we had to fix it ourselves. The most disappointing thing, was being charged for an item we were not supposed to be charged (we were refunded days later), having our entire hotel stay placed on hold which took several days to release, and being charged $200.01 after our visit was over and we were already back in our home state. We had no idea what that charge was for, but it caused a problem with our bank. That money was also refunded to our account. When we tried to call the hotel about all of these issues, the phone rings and rings and no one answers and eventually it just disconnects. All of these issues soured our short trip to Savannah and distract us from the focus of our trip.
My wife and I decided to stay at Alida for a weekend Getaway. This is a great hotel in Savannah’s downtown district. This hotel is beautiful and has all the amenities you would ask for. The room was spacious and comfortable. I recommend this hotel for your next stay in Savannah.
Our experience with The Alida hotel was absolutely amazing! We got married in Savannah and needed a hotel where all of our family could stay. The staff helped us put together a block of rooms that worked for our needs which other hotels in the area had refused to help us with. Every staff member at the hotel was professional and courteous and were always helping us out. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful!! The unique style and and decor gave the entire place a great relaxing vide. The rooms were great and the beds were comfy. They also upgraded our room and had some nice treats and champagne waiting for us after the wedding! We also definitely loved the drinks in the roof top bar!!!
For the price of the hotel, I do not feel that I received the value. I understand that it is a minimal hotel but the courteous service was also lacking. The hotel was not clean enough in the public areas. Valet is expensive and the service was hit or miss. I do think the valet had a preference at certain times on who they serviced. Like most places the hotel must be understaffed. If that is the case stop up charging as if I am going to get the same service and quality.
In terms of any other hotels in the Savannah that is similar in caliber to the Alida, it beats every single other one. In quality and customer service. My wife, friends and I had one of the best weekends we’ve had in a long time. The pool was absolutely perfect and we enjoyed all of the beverages. The rooftop bar at sunset really made you feel like you were on a tropical island. There was nothing about our trip that I wish I could have changed. Everything was perfect
The Alida has determined that they no longer need to pay anyone to clean rooms because of Covid19. I guess it is ok to keep all the on sites bars open with folks shoulder to shoulder. They also charge 45 dollars a day for valet parking and the folks parking the cars are touching the steering wheel and gear shift and anything else in the car. The hotel is nice but definitely not worth what they charge in price per night. I will choose another hotel for any future visits. I can say that the folks parking the cars are very friendly and attentive to the guest. I am not a person that worriers about Covid19 on a 24/7 basis. It just bothers me when hotels use the pandemic as a excuse to cut there overhead at the expense of there guest.
Choose your room wisely if staying here on a weekend. The night club a few doors down plays their music loudly until 3 a.m. I am thankful for the ear plugs I always carry when I travel. We enjoyed the restaurant on the bottom floor a number of times. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent.
The hotel has a great location, very walkable throughout the downtown area. Rooms are modern and minimalistic, very clean feel. The lobby is open and gives a warm feeling. The hotel does not have water bottles, but instead gives you a small plastic bottle to fill at hydration stations in the hall of your floor. The rooftop bar was lowkey with lots of seating. The views were wonderful. The only issue we encountered was that our room faced the very large construction project going on across the street and the work started by 5:45 am. If you like to sleep in, ask for a room away from the construction.
We feel in love with the alida when we stayed there a previous time (before covid) it was amazing and the amenities were fantastic! I’m sad to say that after staying with them recently things have definitely gone downhill. It is still a beautiful hotel with a very friendly staff and nice pool however there is NO room service. Very limited drink service by the pool we were told to get a drink at the jw Marriott which I thought was tacky no restaurants or bars open except one and it’s limited. The roof top is fun and great drinks However there were Pallmetto bugs scurrying everywhere by our feet. It just wasn’t what we remembered and I just think they should mention when booking that the amenities are now limited. This was for our honeymoon which I mentioned to front desk and got no congratulations nothing but some wine offered to everyone at check in. Just expected more especially since the first time was so memorable and the price I’s quite high! We would go again if amenities/restaurants and room service come back and I’m still giving 3 stars because as mentioned we do enjoy this hotel a good bit, just was different this time. I’m sure covid hit them hard and hope they pull through this!
I just want to start this review with my stay was in the Penthouse suite for my wedding weekend in June. I booked the room through a professional Travel Advisor for weddings and he worked directly with the hotel. Im a local here in Savannah and I wanted the absolute best for my wedding weekend since I had to postpone 3 times due to Covid-19 and a brain tumor. Before booking the room, I was told the Penthouse suite would have 3 beds and 2 baths. My entire bridal party was going to stay with me the night before the wedding so it was easy for us all to wake up together and get ready for my big day. I also asked if the room would be serviced while we were all getting breakfast in the lobby so it was picture ready and the front desk told me it would not be a problem and it would be ready by the time we returned around 10AM.Upon check-in and walking into the suite, the room only had 1 bedroom and a pullout couch. Panicked, my bridal party couldnt stay with me except for one of my sisters due to the misinformation of the room details. There were no extra sheets or pillows, no dishes or cups in the kitchen (we had to run around looking for plastic cups just to get water down the hall from the room), and an espresso machine with nothing to put our coffee in. The day of the wedding, we went down to breakfast and came back up to a room that was not serviced - honestly I just needed the bed to be made but even though they told me the day before it would be no problem, the room was never serviced - not even when my husband and I returned later that night after the wedding!! We had to sleep in the bed my sister and I slept in together the night before!!We all know how busy brides are especially when planning a wedding where every guest is coming from out of town except for herself and the groom - so I did not have any time to find another option to stay, or to even challenge the hotel on why the room wasnt as promised because 1. check-in was late at night due to my rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and 2. my wedding day was planned entirely around us all being in the Penthouse suite so there was no way I could change location this late. This included breakfast with family at the Rhett the morning of, hair and makeup teams coming to the suite for the bridal party and myself around 10AM, my photographer coming on site for photos, my transportation to and from the wedding to the hotel, and my husband and I using the room the night of the wedding. After connecting with my Travel Advisor, he told me that the reason the Penthouse was smaller than what we booked it for initially is because hotel suites with multiple guest rooms are often compromised a suite + a connecting room. In this case it sounds like there had been an engineering issue with the connecting room to the penthouse that prevented it from being released to you as it should have been. The hotel did NOT inform me of this issue and still charged me the full $899 per night regardless of it not being the full room I booked in the first place. I splurged on certain things for my wedding including this hotel and Im shook that they practically robbed me of 50% of what the room actually consisted of without telling me or my Travel Advisor. The Alida needs to not rob their customers - especially brides - of money they have more than likely saved for years to make one weekend of their life extra special.
We reserved a River Studio Suite, Studio, 1 King, River View. When we arrived at our room we noticed that the view was of a Marriott Hotel across the street. No view of a river in sight. Then we saw that the window curtain was hanging off of its hooks, there were paint droppings on the floor, the coffee table was missing two of it adjustable leg bottoms, our telephone was inoperable (we never had a working room phone for our entire stay. I had to use my cell phone to call the front desk.) And finally, I moved the sofa bed to retrieve a pet toy that my puppy had pushed under and noticed that the floor under the sofa had not been vacuumed and there was a litter of toenail clippings amid the dust. At this point I was ready to check out. After all, we were paying for a 4 Star property. HONESTLY, if it was not for the attention and care of one of your employees, I would have checked out. Miss JADA WILBARGER, Assistant Office Front Manager took the time to listen to my concerns and inform those responsible to take care of what was needed in my room. It was done quickly! However, the telephone was a major issue that could not be corrected. That was an inconvenience to both my wife and me. I am very disappointed with my stay and will inform Trip Advisor of the issues. I hope that you can do better in the future as these inconveniences are easily corrected by doing the right thing the first time. Please, recognize Miss Wilbarger for he diligence, professionalism, patience and understanding of guest comfort. She is an asset to your organization.
The Alida is a one of a kind experience in Downtown Savannah. It starts when you walk into the hotel and the amazing aroma and interior design pleasantly surprise you. It has this warm superior feel to it that makes you excited to be there! The staff is outstanding. Within the first five minutes of my entry the door men, the lobby bartender, and the two front desk attendants had spoken to us and made us feel welcome. Our rooms were outstanding. The bed was what I would imagine sleeping on a cloud feels like. The rooms were spectacularly lit with natural lighting by large windows that offered interesting views, but could also be fully blacked out when you wanted to sleep in. The Hydration station was so useful and also fun to see what new snacks were out at different parts of the day. However, my favorite part about the Alida was the rooftop. It has the best view in Savannah. I could sit up there for hours watching the barges come in and out of the ports with the breeze blowing and the beautiful sun setting over downtown Savannah. There is no place else like it in the city. Overall, the management of this hotel knows what they are doing and care about the well being of their hotel because it shows through the hard work of their employees and the experience they provide their guests.
Everything was great about this hotel. Beautiful architecture and design elements. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Valet was very efficient. Breakfast at the Rhett was phenomenal. The rooftop bar was super cool! Close to all the sights. Highly recommended.
The hotel is very nice, but the room was very hot. It never cooled off, it was miserable trying to sleep and coming in after a hot day of walking around the city. We were finally given a fan to help circulate the air. They never said if this was typical or they were just having issues this weekend. But I would not stay here in the summer time due to lack of adequate air-conditioning.
There was a group of ladies that kept running from room to room during the night. 1:30 am - 3:30 am. The hotel is built in a way that the closing of other room doors is so loud to wake you up. This is even a problem when wanting to sleep in or going to bed early. Please build your hotels more sound isolated. There was no in room coffee and no executive member lounge. Breakfast was great!
Excellent hotel, everything was beautiful, service was friendly. Location was perfect walking distance to everything and right on the edge of the river walk. Loved the decor and the three bars plus the two free drinks each day. Bed was very comfortable!! The unlimited water stations on each floor were a huge plus! The fitness center was nice and spacious and offered a little bit of everything. Only two complaints I have are there were no wipes to wipe anything down in the gym after your workout and no coffee in the room. Free coffee is downstairs but starts at 630, for someone who is up before then there is no access to any coffee
This hotel was built in a hurry and the construction quality reflects it. Paint splatters from the walls on the baseboard trim and uneven caulking in the bathroom. A screw fell out of the striker plate on the door. For the price, it doesnt equate to the expected quality level. Staff are very pleasant.
Absolutely outstanding experience! A great place to spend the weekend in Savannah, for families or couples alike. We took a trip up to Savannah for the weekend from Florida and The Alida bellman Sean immediately helped us carry our bags out of the car and upstairs to our room. The staff at the front desk offered our dog some treats as soon as we checked in! It was a great time for our pooch, too. He enjoyed his time in our room. Our room was clean, modern, and spacious. The bathroom was packed with complimentary amenities that smelled amazing with touches of amber and wood. The rooftop bar is a great spot to watch the sunset and grab drinks. The food at Rhett exceeded our expectations (order the steak!) and the staff were exceptional and accommodating throughout our dinner. The location is right along River Street which is excellent for walking through the city by foot. Nothing is more than 15-20 mins away! Excellent time and would love to return again one day to stay at The Alida.
Stylish hotel in perfect spot to walk around the city. Rhett restaurant has a solid breakfast, rooms were clean and modern. We had an upgrade and the big window with a bench was a great photo opp. Downstairs bar didnt honor happy hour (was posted on IG) which left a bad taste in our mouth, so we went to the roof top bar for much better service and better drinks.
The walls in this hotel are paper thin! Do not stay here if you want a good nights sleep! We stayed in room 509 and could hear the ENTIRE conversation in the room next to us (until 3:00 am when they went to bed!). The room was right in front of the elevators too so we could hear people coming and going all night. We notified the front desk but they were useless. Also, the rooms are very basic, nothing special, and not worth the money. No closet to hang items or luggage racks for your suitcase. At this price point, this is a given. Savannah is beautiful but we won’t be staying here again...too many better options within walking distance!
We stayed four nights and they only came to clean one time which was frustrating!
This might be my favorite hotel that Ive ever stayed at. Its the perfect mix of old Savannah charm and modern style. The hotels is beautiful from the outside while exquisite on the inside. The lobby and roofdeck are both gorgeous and very comfortable for lounging and grabbing a drink. The hotel is right on river street too, making it an easy home base for the visit. The rooms are spectacular yet cozy. The beds were really comfortable and housekeeping was on it, tidying the bed to perfection every afternoon. And the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. We had such a great time that Im committed to coming back. My only qualm is that valet parking is a bit on the expensive side.
The hotel is beautiful and in the best location. Restaurant, Bar and Rooftop all great menus and areas. Service could improve, due to Covid they only clean the room in the third day which they did not inform us at check in, nobody even came by to offer fresh towels, we had to ask on the second day and then found out, afternoon front desk shift mentioned we could order a taxi early in the morning to go the airport at 5 am, the night shift had no idea about this and we had to order an Uber which there seem not to be a lot in the city and took almost 30 min to arrive. Little details that are not a match for the quality of the property, if improved definitely a 5 star place
The hotel staff were amazing with an easy check in and recognizing our Elite status. Acknowledged my wifes birthday and made us feel welcome. The decor was amazing and the location within the city could not be better. I have stayed many places on the river and this is the best for all of the restaurants and bars. Youll love the uniqueness of the hotel but the staff is what really made our stay very special.
Sheets were dirty with long hairs, hidden fees expensive valet parking, noisy room doors that slam shut. Lots of people talking outside you could hear the showers in the other rooms, staff was not very welcoming, for the price you could get an overall better Hotel elsewhere.
Polite and friendly staff. Nice cozy atmosphere. I know theyre not cleaning rooms due to covid but other marriott brands ive stayed at offer towels etc. each morning. Valet is $45 per night but only one of the valets knew how to move my car... Had to recover my keys after the first night and I just parked myself in the street valet spots the rest of my stay. No big deal as I prefer not to have any one drive my vehicles but should have valets that can drive manual and paddle shifts. Front desk people were always great. Really enjoyed the free champagne happy hour. Overall pleasant experience.
Location is great. Breakfast snacks are just Nature Valley bars and fruit, and its hard to find. So thats a little disappointing. Also, we were told we would get housekeeping every 3 days due to COVID -- which was fine. But no one cleaned our room for a 6 night stay. Everyone was friendly.
Beware of this hotel. The hotel itself is fine but the valet service recklessly parked my vehicle in a space too short for it and destroyed my rooftop cargo box. I had called ahead to make sure it would fit and was assured it would. I noticed the damage at my next destination. I have called the hotel multiple times and no one will call me back. Very unprofessional and unresponsive. Very disappointed in Marriott.
When we arrived valet didn’t have luggage cart. We had 2 rooms for 2 nights and both rooms were dusty, dirty, had a terrible smell. Beds smell like someone pee on it. NO ROOM SERVICE at all. No cleaning at all. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good but you pay for it separately. Very disappointed about this hotel
As a repeat visitor to the Alida in Savannah, I highly recommend this property. The staff is welcoming and helpful, the property is clean and within walking distance of the river front and historic downtown. The roof top bar food and drinks are DELICIOUS! Do yourself a favor and visit the Alida...you will not regret it!
Rooms nice enough and good food at rooftop bar. BUT, they hit you with a mandatory $25 fee that is supposed to cover a cup of coffee, potentially a glass of wine if you are a day drinker between a very narrow time window and use of a bike if you are inclined to ride on narrow cobblestone streets heavy with traffic. No Bonvoy benefits either other than late checkout and the wifi is apparently part of the $25 fee so it’s not really free. The hotel should just charge what its going to charge and not cheapen itself with nonsensical *amenity* fees.
Had an enjoyable weekend here; staff very friendly; the only problem we experienced was that the pool and upstairs bar were closed for a private event and wouldnt allow us to use them, but when I explained our disappointment with not being able to use these amenities that we had counted on, the manager was quick to credit us with points and breakfast. Its a great location to explore Savannah from.
Positive reviews must be primarily from people with dogs.We tried hard to not let our bad experience with this property effect our first visit to Savannah. That was hard. The room had tile floor throughout, not only cold but dirty and sticky. Hair and gunk piled up in every corner. Toilet seat was flop around loose- another testament to their housekeeping service- Oh, wait- they dont have any!We got back late on our first night there and the room hadnt been cleaned. Too late to worry about it so I asked the next morning and was told that they will come in after your THIRD night there. There were no facial tissues so my wife went down to the desk and was handed a box, along with attitude. Asked for restaurant recommendations, they didnt have any except for theirs. The amenities fee ($50/night, not optional) gets you- pretty much nothing. A plastic little dixie cup of very cheap wine in the afternoon if you want it. You have to ask at the front desk which is where they pour it. Seriously, dont waste your time. You can also get a little granola bar or an apple in the morning if you go down and ask for it. I could go on....Positive note (the only one we could come up with) would be that the bed was comfortable.Utterly pretentious of them to say that they are a high end property. Made us think of the emperor has no clothes story.Go to Charleston, stay at the French Quarter Inn for the same or less money and see what you should be getting.
Watch out for actual pricing. They have multiple hidden fees including a $25 amenity fee for zero amenities, random hotel fees, $42/night parking. The complimentary breakfast is a lie, its a granola bar and you have to ask for it. We experienced poor customer service in general. There are no views from the room. We asked to talk to a manager but we were denied access by front desk staffer, Rebecca. One positive is the rooms are slightly larger than average and its close to riverside night life.
Walking into the hotel, my first impression was that it was beautiful. Then I noticed a huge stain on the front carpet. However, the extreme friendliness of the staff made me look past that. From the valet service to the front desk they were exceptional. We checked into our rooms and after having to change a few things we got settled. We had a great drink at the Lost Square and a fantastic burger at Rhett. The following day we toured the city and afterwards wanted to cool off in the pool. That wasn’t a great experience. It was very slimy feeling and dirty. Walking into it you could see a line of muck, that was all very slippery. Overall our stay was positive due to the staff. However the $25 resort fee is a little much since our rooms weren’t spotless each day. ( I found someone else’s toenail clipping on the floor and left over pieces of garbage from our pail) Another point that was upsetting was the everyday parking fee. For a five day stay it came to $200. Most B and B or hotels in the area offer free parking. I loved the restaurants and the staff at this hotel and the trendy decor but I don’t think I could stay here again.
The rooms were nice and clean. However, we will not be staying here in the future and will not recommend this hotel to anyone going to Savannah due to the parking situation and unfortunate experience we had with the valet. The hotel only offers valet parking in order to park in their garage. We had $25USD in the center console of our car that we had put there earlier in the day to use for tipping the valet and staff at the hotel for our one night stay. I forgot to take it out when I handed over the keys to the valet. Once we got to the room with the bell hop, I remembered that I forgot the cash to use as tip and so went back to the valet just 10 minutes later to get the keys to the car and the $25USD that was in there was gone. I notified a different valet (not the same valet as he wasnt anywhere to be found) and told him what happened and to ask the other valet if he knew the whereabouts. We waited until the next morning in hopes that he would return the cash to us. When he didnt, we notified the hotel staff. I then received an email from the valet company manager and immediately responded/followed up a few times and have yet to hear from them. Its been over a week. This is extremely disappointing, especially for a hotel with the Marriott name.
My husband and I booked our anniversary vacation at the Alida and enjoyed our stay. The only real issue I had was figuring out where the entrance was. The outside of the building could have used some more signage. Google Maps took us to the street below the actual entrance and the side door was also locked unless you already had a room key. Initially this is a bit confusing. The location is perfect, the hotel perks in the lobby are a nice plus, the staff was very kind and the decor was gorgeous. We had trouble getting into our room the first night because of a faulty door and we were compensated with vouchers which was nice. We would definitely stay here again!
I stayed at the Alida for four nights while attending a convention. I was blown away by this hotel. The attention to detail was like no other I have ever seen. I received 2 complimentary glasses of champagne with 2 complimentary beers for each guest. The staff was very polite and made my stay very comfortable. My hotel room was perfect with wood floors, large bay window, upgraded bathroom with a larger than life shower. The hotel is within walking distance to everything. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to family and friends, and look forward to a future stay the next time I am in Savannah Ga.
Great great great!!!! The staff, food and facilities are beyond expectation! The prepackaged ice and water bar on each floor was an excellent idea! (Still, Ambient, and Sparkling from Tap). The room closets hidden fit every need to include an empty carry on sized suitcase
The Alida is a fantastic hotel. It is a beautiful property and the staff are some of the best I have ever met. From the minute we booked and received a welcome email from Amanda the worlds best concierge until the day we checked out and valet walked us to our car, it was a pleasure. The lobby is very welcoming and smells delightful. Our room was very spacious and well thought out. We enjoyed the pool view and the colorful light show that it displayed at night. My husband rated the breakfast at Rhett, the onsite restaurant as the best food he had in Savannah. The hotel is within walking distance from the riverfront and the city market but it is still off of the beaten path so it affords you privacy. It was the perfect spot for our romantic get away.
The Alida is a great boutique hotel with a cool vibe, welcoming staff and A+ amenities. The location is awesome - River Street is right outside your door and it’s a 5 - 10 minute walk from many of Savannah’s must-see shops, historical areas, restaurants and more. The food and staff at Rhett are always great, the rooms are tidy and comfortable, the fitness center is top notch and the rooftop bar is amazing. One of our favorites hotels in Savannah.
This hotel above all is just beautiful, clean and very welcoming. It has a charm to it that made staying in Savannah very special. The room was so large and the layout was stunning with a beautiful couch underneath a large window. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was huge and clean. Everything from beginning to end was great with this hotel and we wish to stay there again!
The hotel itself is lovely and the staff is very nice. However, there have been two frustrating aspects of the experience that would prevent me from staying here again or recommending to a friend. First, it was very difficult to get even the simplest items delivered to our room. On our first night, we needed some qtips, and made two separate calls to the reception desk, who said they are sending some up but we never got them. On the second day, I requested them twice again, several hours apart, and still did not receive them. It was only after a final call where I stressed that I really needed them and have been asking for two days that someone brought them up to me. We also had the same issue with toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. where we had to call several times over the course of several hours to get them delivered. It’s just ridiculous that such a simple thing became such a tedious process and took so long. The second issue has to do with billing. When we checked out, we were told that there was a $70 bill from the bar on our room tab. We never even set foot in the bar so the tab must have been erroneously attached to our room bill. We told the front desk that, and they said they would remove it. Later that day, I got a $70 charge on my credit card, and also saw a separate pending charge for $7 that was not disclosed to us when we checked out/I have no idea where that was from, since we had cleared all our outstanding charges when we checked out. I called the hotel about these two issues, and was told the charges would be removed. A few days later, I got yet another $70 pending charge for the bar, and the $7 which used to be just a pending charge actually got charged to my account. I called again and was told I would get a refund for the bar tab, but they don’t have any record on their end for the $7. I then had to take a screenshot of my credit card bill and email it to show them. They said they would send it to the accounting department to resolve it. I am also still waiting for the bar tab to be refunded but honestly given this nightmare of how it was handled, I’m not confident I will get it anytime soon. It’s extremely frustrating that an error on the hotel’s end cannot be resolved by the hotel despite multiple assurances to us that they would be taken care of, and now a week after my trip, I am still spending time and energy trying to figure out what is going on just get a refund on something I never spent.
No complaints, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and for a being a hotel right down in the heart of River Street, it was exceptionally quite! The view we had from the 5th floor was amazing, and my fiance and myself enjoyed some time sitting on the nook enjoying it! Would highly recommend a stay here.
The staff is super nice and the property was very clean. Visited Savannah for the first time and booked here. Ultimately only stayed one night due to the view (even though our room was upgraded). It’s behind the JW Marriott so you can’t really see the water, but other than that I would recommend this place.
My family of four had a wonderful stay at the Alida Savannah over the July 4th weekend. The staff were very attentive to our needs, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The bartenders and wait staff are very professional and knowledgeable and quick to meet your needs. Dinner at Rhett was AMAZING and ten times better than any other hotel restaurant out there! The rooftop bar is perfect for viewing Savannah from above. There is a great pool area with a dedicated bartender/waiter. The location of the hotel is ideal, within easy walking distance of all the fun that Savannah has to offer. The only thing I did not like was that the view of the river is largely blocked by the construction of a large building about 20 feet away from the hotel.
The Alida has been my home away from home while traveling for work over the last 6 months. The staff is always so welcoming and kind; A friendly hello, questions about my day or my trip and always a warm goodbye when I head home. I’ve stayed in many different types of rooms and they are all beautiful. Beds are very comfortable, TV selection is good and bathrooms are spacious. The rooftop bar is also a must visit. The drinks and food are only outdone by the view of Savannah.
A very disappointing and frustrating experience due to lack of decent service and amenities. Front desk staff not welcoming and very curt and dismissive of any concerns/requests. The nicest employees were the valets. No coffee service or even glasses in room and no ability to get room service or any food after restaurant closes at 1 p.m. No ice except on weekend. The room smelled musty or of mold. Clearly not up to Marriott standards.
We came to Savannah for our wedding and The Alida was beyond amazing! They helped us put together a block of rooms for our guests who came in from several different states (Other hotels in the area wouldn’t even entertain the idea of helping us). The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff are top notch! From the moment you arrive and are greeted by the friendly valets to the front desk who were friendly and efficient, not to mention the complimentary champagne. To help us celebrate our wedding they upgraded our room and at the end of our wedding day we came back to some amazing treats and gifts! I absolutely recommend them for any stay you have in Savannah, we will definitely be back!
Overall experience was poor. Hours to wait to get checked in. Room was poorly put together. No cleaning of rooms and front desk forgot to bring extra towels after multiple calls. Couldn’t get into breakfast because they over booked. And a 25 amenity fee for basically reusable water bottles we had to fill up.
From the moment I stepped through the front door and received a warm & friendly greeting, I was delighted by the bright, clean, fragrant, visually exciting lobby with architectural & artsy interests and the high but pleasant energy level and welcoming vibe. Interesting tie-ins to Savannah College of Art & Design and a unique gift shop. Check in was like meeting a new friend who actually engaged in pleasant conversation and was genuinely concerned that I had the best experience during my several day stay for a work related visit. The room was spacious, bright and comfortable, hydration stations and fruit bowls on the floors were a big plus. The rooftop bar was a great way to enjoy the Savannah breeze and skyline after a long day while the other 2 bars and restaurants had very friendly servers and bar tenders. Overall an extremely pleasant experience and I will definitely return to The Alida for my next Savannah trip whether for business or pleasure!
Great hotel. Charming southern flare with a bit of an industrial décor. Loved the water on tap available on each floor!! I didnt find the option for room service, yet I saw it to be reviewed on the survey... probably my fault I didnt inquire further. Food at the Rhett was good, could be bit better in the way of options, at least for my taste. Good location, close to ferry and shopping. Wish I would have had more time to explore Savannah!

2022-04-20I love this hotel, I cant wait to go back! Valet parking made it so convenient, check in was super easy and the staff were extremely welcoming. The room was clean and well appointed. I was concerned that the outside noise was going to keep me up at night but it was wonderfully quiet. The mattress and sheets were some of the best Ive even had at a hotel. Five star stay!

2022-04-05This hotel was amazing! Beautiful boutique hotel. Fresh water and fruit on each floor. Cute rooftop bar. The beds were comfy. Shower was amazing with all vegan hair, soap and body products. It was too cold for me to join people in the pool but it was a cute set up! The lobby is really beautiful as well. In a great location near the waterfront! Would 1000% come back!

2022-04-03This boutique hotel is great...great location & vibe. Aside from the pillows being quite firm, the room is really spacious and comfortable, even though the hotel was booked when we were here (and located on the 1st floor) it was very quiet and we didnt hear noises outside or hallway. The location is in the new area plant riverside which is a block down from the classic Savannah restaurants & shops. The new area is alongside the channel where cargo ships come in/out - which is amazing to watch and there is plenty of seating alongside. This end of Plant Riverside is filled with Marriott properties / this, as well as the JW Marriott which is beautiful inside and they offer other restaurants and riverside outdoor dining and entertainment. Highly recommend this hotel for your visit to Savannah ... close walking to anywhere you want to go!

2022-06-14We loved the Alida! This beautiful hotel is close to many historic treasures and great restaurants as well as the beautiful River Walk. We enjoyed our lovely room with an amazing view of the Savannah River, music and drinks in the rooftop lounge, and breakfast and coffee in the Rhett. The lobby is beautifully decorated and a great place to browse through the shop and books scattered in the seating areas. Dan Powers at the front desk, Yolanda (Concierge), and Howard (Valet/Bell Stand) took great care of us.

2022-05-11I stayed with girlfriends at The Alida a month ago. It was my first time staying at the hotel. Each time Ive gone to Savannah Ive stayed at a different property. My expectations for The Alida were higher due to the type of hotel it is and the reviews Id read prior to arrival. The design esthetic of The Alida is fun and cozy. I appreciated how the different spaces in the room and around the hotel each had their own look, but still connected to each other. The one meal we had at Rhett, the restaurant on the ground floor, was delicious. We timed brunch just right and only had to wait 10 minutes to be sat without a reservation. The place was packed and we did wait a bit for service and our food. That being said, our server was friendly and accommodating. In addition to serving and running tables, he was also making drinks behind the service bar, so the delay in service was due to his having to wear multiple hats. Our food was on point, especially my fried chicken sandwich that was definitely amongst one of the top five Ive ever had.Where I feel The Alida fell short was in the cleanliness of the room. Over the course of 4 days, we never had housekeeping service. I understand the hotel is no longer providing daily service, I assume due to staffing issues. However, we were told they would come after 3 days. That never happened. We were gone the entire day and by the time we returned it was too late to follow up with the front desk. We ran out of clean towels, toilet paper, and tissues during our stay. Those issues were resolved by either calling Housekeeping or tracking down a housekeeping staff member in the hallway. I also noticed areas within the room that werent as clean as I would expect for this type of property including stains on some of the furniture, dust behind the standing tub and in the window sills.Overall, we had a lovely stay. The Alida is in a great location and easy to access. The valet staff were friendly and greeted us each time with a smile. The front desk staff were helpful whenever we asked questions. When we requested items for the room such as towels, the housekeeping staff were prompt to fulfill the request.

2022-05-17Beautiful hotel in a very good location. I don’t feel that the hotel is very inviting, not a warm environment. My room has an air intake vent that can’t be shut off, I can turn off the in-room heat/ac but not that fan. My credit card was charged (pending) for the entire amount of my stay when I checked in. I’ve been a Marriott loyalty customer for decades, that change makes no sense. There is no iron in the room only a non-functioning steamer, not ideal for a business trip. These all aren’t dealbreakers but this won’t be my first choice on future trips to Savannah.

2021-11-08Recently stayed to enjoy my birthday weekend & we loved this hotel. Perfectly located for us to walk everywhere. The staff from valet to room attendants rank high on hospitality! Friendly and helpful from the moment you hand over your car keys. Our all time takeaway was that they give you a reusable water bottle to fill throughout your stay & 3 types of water (sparkling, cold or room temp) on each floor. The aesthetic of the property was beautiful and I personally loved the room window view with the reading bench. We would love to go back and stay again! Worth looking into for your stay!!

2022-03-28What a great hotel with an even better location. We stayed at this hotel during the very busy St Patrick’s Day weekend. Everything went smooth and easy. Daniel the front desk supervisor helped make everything great. We got to use the free bikes the hotel offers and the restaurant and rooftop bar were great! Will definitely be staying here again next time.

2022-07-04The employees made our stay an amazing one. Keonna ( front desk), Brandon, Creed, all the very nice cleaning staff near room # 304. If I forgot anyone I apologize. Oh Matt and Nicholas the Valet’s. A building is just a property, the staff make a difference! I loved the boutique and warm ambiance. It was the perfect location and clean. I have visited Savannah many times (different properties) but hands down this is my very favorite. Thank you one and all! Hope to see you all soon. PS loved the Rhett Restaurant too. Yum!
