We celebrated our 3 year anniversary @ The Catch last night, and from start to finish, we were treated so well! The lobster roll appetizer was mouth-watering good. My husband and I never order dessert, but the blueberry cake sounded so good! We demolished a piece, and we were blown away! Ill be ordering this cake for one of our upcoming holidays or parties soon! Thank you for making us feel like this was our best anniversary so far!
Phenomenal service, decent wine list, great menu. My bay scallops were over cooked and the blue cheese in the hush puppies were disappointing, but everything else was delicious. We’ll definitely be back, our server Kevin did a great job and made it a memorable dining experience.
I was not prepared for what my BF and I walked into. I felt underdressed, as did my boyfriend with both of us in shorts and flip-flops.I was definitely NOT ready for the prices on the menu which were so much higher than what was posted on line. I wanted to leave before ordering but my BF wasnt as fazed by the prices as I was, so we stayed.Table service was amazing. I feel bad for not recalling the waitress name but its been a couple of months since we dined there. The crab cake appetizer was top tier. I was in love. I believe I got some sort of stuffed grouper with even more crab cake but i can not seem what it actually was.My BF was happy with his steak but not portions for the price. We agreed that his meal could have come from a basic steakhouse for cheaper price and been just as good. This place is definitely a little high-end for Albany and slightly over priced.Oh, well. Live and learn.
Over-priced, in my opinion - meaning, definitely not a hundred dollar meal for a two-person dinner (with no alcohol ordered either) and both of us had water.Crab cakes were mushy and didnt have crispy, brown exterior- seemed under-cooked. Ahi-tuna app was okay. The special was bacon-wrapped scallops that my were solid. Two sides were creamed-spinach and white cheddar grits - both great choices. The other entrée was fried shrimp platter was okay - not sea-side fresh though. The two sides were collards (excellent flavor) and some Chipotle grits (not-so excellent).Overall, the food was okay; however, Id be hard-pressed to visit again because of the high-price for okay food at a restaurant with butcher-paper toppers and plastic chairs.Biff was a great server though - offering a few different taste samples of their side offerings on our first-ever visit (and Kudos! to him on the owners behalf because he recommended a new pizza spot to us as we were settling up, too).
Giving it a 1 star... service was terrible and took 20 minutes for a refill. Waited close to 2 hours for our food. Took 30 minutes for anyone to check on us. We wouldnt of even gotten our appetizers if we didnt force the order. Food was decent but felt like some was over cooked and under cooked and rushed after we kept asking about it. Tables that got seated way after us ate before us and had a lot bigger parties. They seem to have forgotten to even put our order in. All together probably the worst experience Ive had at a restaurant. 1st and last time I ever eat at this place...
Favorite Stewbos establishment! Where to begin🤔...The appetizers are incredible!! My friend and I go around tasting at all of the local restaurants. The food here is by far one of our favorites! We had lobster egg roll, fried crab claws, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, fried shrimp and catfish... the list goes on (no we didn’t eat everything lol). The appetizers and featured items were soooooo much better than the entrees. Don’t get me wrong, the entrees are good but I’d stick with ordering apps and featured items😉. If you order crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, try putting the crab cake on top of the tomatoes.. 🤤🤤 you’ll experience fireworks of yummy goodness in your mouth! Our server was wonderful. We never had to ask for anything. Drinks were incredible! I’m a girl who likes a good muddled old fashion. Not a lot of places make them like my mother use to, but The Catch bartenders showed out with their mixology skills. We even received a surprise drink (green tea shot). It was so good! Totally going back! Ask for the green tea shot if you go!
Our waitress was wonderful and completely knowledgeable about the menu. I thought the portion sizes were slightly small for the price. The pasta of the moment (shrimp bunkhouse) was extremely good. However the grouper with crawfish cream sauce seasoning was a little bit off putting. The house margarita was the best one Ive had in Albany. Dinner for two with drinks will run well over $100.00 so be prepared to pay.
I wanted to be impressed by this place because The Catch was recommended to me. But honestly their food was not what I expected it to be with the prices that go with it. We got gator tail, that was pretty good, but we also ordered the pickles and it was supposed to have jalapenos but no hint of spice anywhere. My boyfriend got the gumbo bowl entree. If youre expecting to be filled up by it then think again its so small of a bowl it should be an appetizer. My food was so bland I couldnt even eat all of it. Dont get me wrong the atmosphere and service was good. Make sure you ask before you order so you wont be disappointed like we were.
Ive been here before and its been amazing but we went to a birthday dinner here Saturday and I ordered a ribeye that was tasteless with no seasoning whatsoever and it was way over cooked (certainly not worth $38). Servers were very unorganized. Dont think Ill be back unless I hear of a major change in quality and service.
This place is absolutely fantastic! This is the best resturant in Albany,GA... if not in GA. I have experienced many varieties of higher end resturants and I will say that the food here is on par or better then most! The steaks, are absolutely melt in your mouth, great! I have not had one thing food wise that is bad. My finance is a picky eater and has never looked at greens twice, but as of this past time of going, she cant wait to order more. Prices are dead on for the quality!
Quiet little spot on a super busy street with very limited parking. Food, drinks, and service were great. The lamb chops were juicy and perfectly cooked. The gumbo was delicious as well. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Not what I expected but not too bad. Cosmopolitan was pretty good also.
The food was delicious!!! I got fried catfish with grits and collard greens. The catfish wasnt too bready like some bad fried catfish. The service was great. The resteraunt itself was clean and very open. I will say that it is a little expensive, most of the dishes were about 25 to 30$. Overall it was really yummy :)
Hostess sat us at a table for 4 instead of the 5 people we had (there were open 6 top tables), repeatedly asked if we needed a booster or high chair even though I told her twice on the way to the table that we did not. However, our sever Paige was absolutely phenomenal. She was spot on with everything, never had to ask for refills or extra anything, she seriously deserves a raise. Paige made the entire experience.
Food was ok but way overpriced. We paid $84 for 2 people. Nice atmosphere but I was surprised to see butcher paper on the table instead of a table cloth. We were compensated for the appetizer because it took so long to be served. The best part about this meal was my margarita.
Limited parking.Nice decor, with butcher paper table cloths, which is fun for doodling.Noisy.Paige the waitress is nice.Nice wine list.Crab cakes - A. Small and crabby.Salmon - B. This was a nice piece of fish and the lemon parmesan topping was delicious. But, I expect a place like this to cook salmon so it is hot and still tender and shiny inside. It isnt easy. Mine was way too hot. It gets dry.Dinner for two with one glass of wine, I had water, and a tip was $76.
I was here for a small expected gathering in their reserved space. I was very underwhelmed. Several of our plates were cold, and had technical issues requiring a return trip to the kitchen. The portions were very small and the service was well below that of a franchise pub. I will not insult a pub by name for comparison, but that would have at least been filling. Four dinners $130. I will never return. Skip this overpriced disappointment at all costs. Otherwise, its one notch above the captain.
My family and myself was in town visiting and tried this restaurant. It was nice and our waitress was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food we bought for over $100 had my husband and two kids including myself in the restroom all night with an upset stomach. Im not sure what from but it was a rough night.
Albanys finest for fine dining, great food and excellent service. This place did not miss a beat from a great craft beer selection to amazing seafood and incomparable service. This is the best. My salad was crisp, fresh, and promptly served with quality ingredients. The shrimp bucktail was exquisite, I requested half bay scallops. I ran out of pasta before seafood... when does that ever happen?! The place was packed quickly, always the sign of a winning venue!
This place has always had the best food, and generally great service. I sit at the bar mostly and here lately the new girl back there has a really bad attitude, shes more interested in talking to her friends then dealing with her customers. I dont know what happened to the other girl thats always there but yall need to bring her back, or have her give the new one with the glasses some customer service advice.
Excellent. Only bad thing was the Filet Mignon. It came out with a singed smell. My husband said maybe they didnt allow time for the grill to burn off excess fuel before cooking. But, I still give 5 stars because the server immediately tried to correct the issue and also offered to make a new steak for me. I opted to just remove the steak from our bill because I was enjoying everything else. So, my husband got catfish and grits with greens and red eye gravy. It was good. I got, minus the steak, greens and white cheddar grits. For an appetizer: Fried Calamari with Ranch instead of the tomato aioli because of allergies. That was the best calamari Ive ever had. So many cooks overcook so that it has a chewy texture. Thankfully, these chefs cooked them to perfection. And the sweet tea had the perfect ratio! My husband said it reminded him of growing up. Thank you to the management team of The Catch for handling our issue perfectly. Well probably be back tonight! And Im just going to stick with the seafood at a restaurant called: The Catch. 😄
Very over rated. Not sure if I just went on a bad night or if it is just not that good. I got crab cake and my girl friend got the tuna. Both were bland and plain tasting. Also got the house special grilled oysters. Again very bland tasting. Some of the food literally tasted like it was the frozen food from a grocery store. Also took us 30 minutes to get our appetizer and 45 to finally get the food. Felt like we could have bought better food at publix and made it our selves for half the price in half the time.
I was underwhelmed by The Catch. Wrinkled paper on the tables, expensive entries that are a little too rich for my blood, and mediocre service. The atmosphere is kinda cool and they have a nice beer selection, but the tiny oysters and heaviness of the food left much to be desired. I ate there twice with my wife and tried several things on the menu, and was just not that happy with the overall experience. If you want to get great seafood in Albany, save your money and check out Albany Fish Company.
The service here is great... the food, not so much. Ordered oysters Rockefeller and they smelled like a dirty wet rag for some weird reason. Couldnt down them and ordered fresh gulf shrimp instead. They were so fesh that they were cold, like they had just been taken out of the fridge. I got five cold shrimp on a half cup of lettuce.
Visited Albany on business and was looking for a restaurant with KETO friendly options and decided to try The Catch. Simply the best blackened catfish I have ever eaten. Very generous filets seasoned to perfection and the asparagus was so good. The grilled vegetables on the side were likewise well seasoned and plentiful. I cover eight states in a sales role so dining out is a daily adventure. The Catch is in my top five and I would detour to Albany for the blackened catfish. Many other options to try in the future including oysters, shrimp and scallops. Leaving satisfied.

2022-05-04The seafood was fresh. I had fresh grouper and it felt like I was sitting next to the Gulf of Mexico. The food is a little pricey, but worth it. Great date night

2018-08-29I sat at the oyster end of the bar, after watching a couple dozen go out to other customers I was ready to burst! My half dozen were plump juicy monsters with the addition of some lemon juice, cocktail sauce and horseradish I was in heaven. Washed down with the local golden ale I was ready for grilled red snapper, yum!

2022-03-21Great food and service. The only negative note of the entire experience was the noise level; with a kitchen open to the dining room there is a lot of background noise while trying to eat.
