Very nice people. Great food, waited 20min for my take out order for two. Would visit again.

I would give a 4.5 If I could because depaite being billed as a Cajun seafood restaurant, there is no etouffee, gumbo, blackened redfish, etc. That being said, if you are in the mood for good fried seafood, this place is good. The shrimp were plump and juicy, the fried crawfish not chewy like they often are, and the kids enjoyed theirs.
Our shrimp and fish were hot and delicious. Our server, Kevin, was very attentive.
Excellent customer service and excellent food. I stopped by there to try out the food and was very impressed by this place. I will most definitely be back and will be bringing more people with me!

A bit disappointed. The server was clearly not trained well. On her phone anytime we saw her, had to ask for refills, brought out our dessert cold and hard as a rock and claimed she “didn’t know how to heat it up”. The food was a good portion size and tasted decent, but not a huge fan of the overuse of garlic. Might come back in the future when staff is better and try something different on the menu.
Great experience! Looking for a quick bite and this place has great service!! Our server was destiny who truly cared about our table and kept checking in on us. Definitely ask for her next time you stop here!

Food was good. Waitress friendly and efficient. Only problem with whole meal was the Calimari was tough and they gave us a 10% discount on bill for it. All in all very good.

My husband and I finally were able to have a date night and I desperately wanted raw oysters and SEAFOOD!!! We live in commerce and of course no one near us serves raw oysters so I googled the closest place to us.... Needless to say it brought us here! My husband and I could NOT have been more pleased!!! The food was absolutely amazing, the restaurant itself was extremely clean, service was top notch and we will most definitely be coming back!!! Thank you guys so for such an awesome experience!!!!
To be in Athens its a great find. Plus they have frog legs lol. Price was about what you would expect for seafood this far inland. Worth a try tho

Was not impressed. Prices were top of the line . Food was actually mediocre. The staff was not knowledgeable of food types. To me you can tell that it went from a Chinese restaurant to tried to serving seafood. This is only my opinion. Do not base it only my opinion try it for yourself. Sorry but I will not be going back.
Disappointed in my overall experience here. The servers are not attentive. Long wait time for meal to be served even though there was only one other customer there during my visit. A long wait time is acceptable provided the food is great, however it wasnt. Ordered the catfish basket and jumbo shrimp basket both were subpar. Fries and hushpuppies were standard. You do however get a nice portion. Visited twice but wont be returning.
First visit. We were warmly greeted & seated quickly. Our server might have been new because we had to remind him or ask for things like napkins, silverware, etc. One of our apps never came. Everyone seemed to enjoy their boils but I got a fried oyster basket & it was average. My mixed drink was great!

It was your typical American fried seafood place. Our calamari appetizer was slightly overcooked and the place was practically empty. We were about to leave when the server finally came. We have the fried flounder, shrimp, and scallop baskets. They were ok. Not outstanding.
Definitely don’t order an alcoholic beverage here…. Thus is the kind of bar that thinks it’s ok to put TABLE SALT on the rim of drinks! Nuff said! The only thing desirable was the alligator bites can’t say much for the rest other than this seems to be a Chinese restaurant wanting to be a Cajun seafood restaurant and they are failing miserably!
What a disappointing experience. We did carry out. The fries & hushpuppies were cold, shrimp was good but not very hot. Ordered a side of fried mushrooms, they had been in the freezer too long & were cold. Maybe if we had eaten there it would have been better. Still wont be going back.
The best Seafood in Athens period. Staff is amazing and very attentive, fresh food every-time. This is my 3rd time and it is very consistent.Susan is the best!!!!

I would like to say something about the food but we sat there for 1hr 10min and never even got an appetizer. The Staff was not trained and lacked any professionalism. Management was elusive at best. This would be a great place for a restaurant.
This restaurant is like finding a treasure chest full of goodies....me and my niece loved everything from the calamari right down to the boiled seafood. This was my first time eating clams and they were delicious as well. I will definitely be coming back. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! They were constantly asking if we were okay/ if we needed anything and we had an issue with the order they replaced it with no issues. The food was super seasoned as well and tasted amazing.
We are so dissatisfied with the service and waiting of this place and its are second time going there cause the first time was a really disappointing experience so we decided to give it a second try.So today we got there at 6:50 and she didnt even ask us if we wanted something to drink until later we didnt even get are appetizer cause we decided to ask first what was taking so long and the girl told us that the people has been waiting cause there kitchen is backed up so it will be a waiting of like an hourMy opinion is that if they know that it was going to take an hour of waiting like that then they should at least tell people before they sit and get comfortable on their table.Never coming back..

Ordering from them on DoorDash was a terrible experience because it seems they don’t know how to operate it? I called to get help with my order because it was taking over an hour and she told me they never made the food because they shut down 3 hours ago and to take it up with doordash. But the app was telling me they prepared me food and the restaurant is the only one who can input that. I called back 3 min later and again was told no dasher orders had been made for the past 3 hours. And I told her this app literally says my order is on the way to me. The employee then says oh we just had someone pick up some food so it’s probably yours .... ?????
The menu here is like no other place in town. At first glance, and the primary focus is seafood as the name suggests, but you can also get fried rice, wings, and sausages.You can get a large variety of water dwellers. Crab, lobster, oyster, shrimp, tilapia, salmon, catfish, frog legs, and probably more I am forgetting. The food I had was tasty and well prepared. I got fried entrees, but from what I saw boiled with seasoning looked like a great option as well.The atmosphere is relaxed, and has seating for larger parties. Our server was polite and attentive.I will go back and would recommend giving it a try.

This place has terrible customer service !!! The MOST TERRIBLE! We waited 15 minutes just for the menus, and had to get up to ask for sum. They guy sat us in the back corner and he kept going to the same 3 or 4 tables but not us . when we got menus we waited 20 minutes for watered down drinks . I had to get up twice to see what was taking so long for the food . And the employees was acting just dumbfounded. the food was good but then they charged us for jumbo shrimp that we didn’t ask for .
This is a great local restaurant, it’s definitely not top dollar seafood but it’s an enjoyable meal! The service is horrible though, as a server myself this restaurant isn’t very attentive in the service department. I’ve been here several times and I really enjoy the food, but the service ruins the experience. Servers will ask if you need things then forget, multiple times. Busy or slow they can’t seem to get the flow of things down. They always seem to be apologizing for excessive wait times. There’s also an extremely loud server who practically yells whenever they talk, which is just annoying to hear while eating and ruins the atmosphere. I keep coming back for the good food but if service continues to be bad (and every time I’ve come here it’s been bad) I’m not sure if I’ll be coming as frequently. It’s definitely worth a try, I definitely recommend The Crab Hut over Hook & Reel though.
I got the crawfish to celebrate with my dad on Fathers Day and was so impressed with the service and the seasoning! Super delicious! Will definitely come back!!
The boiled crawfish with sausage was delicious. Definitely get the Kajun garlic butter, you can always go for mild and still get a nice, spicy flavor. Corn on the cob, hush puppies and coleslaw are all good! We also got the fried catfish, which was delicious! We got a spicy salmon burger and it and the fries were very good. Excellent service, tasty sweet tea and a variety of excellent seafood choices!
Ordered 2 oyster po boys at lunch time 11/18/20. For $25.00 I had a total of 8 oysters between the 2 sandwiches. The sandwiches were flat, instead of being full with ingredients. They contained a lot of the ingredients that one what expect but very, very low on oysters. I was curious to try some of the other menu items, such as fried alligator or their calamari but after that rip off I must say, “No thank you.”
I dont think the people of Athens or this restaurant really know what a good Low Country Boilor Seafood Bag is supposed to taste like!!!!! Everything in my bag tasted raw, unseasoned and uncooked like it was fresh out the sea. And I tried almost everything so you know it wasnt cheap!!!!! The only thing that was decent was the fried catfish on my friends plate! Thats the only reason I gave them 1 star!! Im sorry...... But from now on I will take my money to Pappadeax or the Juicy Crab!
Wish I could say the food was good but we didn’t even get to taste it. Was seated in back corner and nobody ever came to serve us. Sat for 25 min and finally got up and left. Won’t be coming back.

Went by at lunch on a Tuesday, not a soul in the place but me. I ordered the fried popcorn shrimp to go. It comes with curly fries and hush puppies. Ten bucks for under fried, and some still cold shrimp, the curly fries out numbered the shrimp three to one. There were two quarter size doughy hush puppies. Tarter, cocktail and their signature kajun butter sauces are extra. Not worth the trip, dont waste your time. Fried food is the easiest to prepare correctly but this place screwed the pooch the first and only time I will be trying their fare.
The cheese sticks are bad & have an unusual texture. The wings are good. The po boy was ok but the crab legs were old mushy. The shrimp were actually good but even in mild they were too spicy to eat. I like spicy food & this actually had my lips burning. The place was empty so we should’ve known better. I honestly don’t see them making it without some immediate changes.
They have GOOD Fried shrimp and wings and good service and inside. The steamed seafood is good (coming from someone who lived in the gulf and knows food seafood). The only thing we didnt like is the cajun garlic butter. It was overwhelming.

Lots of Seasoning! The gloves and bibs are very much needed. Bag of shrimp, potatoes and sausage DROWNED in cajun butter whatever spiciness you can handle too.Genesis our server was super awesome.You guys should definitely go.

It was decent. Had wings and alligator for an appetizer. Wings were good and the alligator was okay. Lastly, the location is easily missable so keep a lookout when close. I will return again.
Heard food was very good. Went to try and management says out of 5 different food items. (Hush puppies, oysters, popcorn shrimp, sausage and salmon) We left Without eating and don’t plan to go back. Very poor management.
We ordered a half pound of snow crab legs. And received 1 cluster. It felt like a rip off. The crab was steamed in a garlic butter sauce that begged for salt. Our order was incorrect. When advised manager that it wasnt half a pound, he said he tried to find the biggest claw. What? Fried shrimp was fine. Will just go to Atlanta Highway Seafood in Gainesville from now on. Wont be back.

I personally am a crawfish fanatic and this place never disappoints.The quality and friendly service keeps me coming back, no matter how far away. I bring new people each visit and I’ve yet to steer anyone wrong.By far my favorite seafood spot!
I love gumbo and I’m really picky on the way it tastes. I’ve tried many different types of gumbo from different restaurants and this is by far one of the worst I’ve had. They had the basics but the flavor made me feel sick.
Cant go lower than one star. I went there last Tuesday around 9:30pm hoping to get some fried shrimp. They walked up to the door and told me that were closed because they werent busy. They close at 11pm, and it says so on the door. Ill never go there again. Sad, because theres no good seafood spot in Athens that I know of.
Frog legs! They were so tasty. Fried fish and fries were enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Dont order the red velvet cake. Just dont.
I enjoyed the food especially the wings they are different than the usual wings. The portions are plenty always full when I leave and the servers are friendly especially Eric. Would recommend trying it,I will be back when the bar opens.

This restaurant was previously Kajun Crab, they went under new management, and it is no better than before. Horrible customer service, the waiter had to be asked several times to bring us items, some that we had to ask another waitress to get after so long. The waiter also brought things to our table that we didn’t order. Food was COLD, will not be back.

GREAT place. Get the boiled dishes, and def choose the Cajun seasoning not just garlic!!! It’s spicy, delicious, not too expensive and very attentive service.

Service was awesome but after receiving my meal I seen black spots all over my crab legs which ended up being Leech eggs after sharing this with management he basically told me it’s normal and that I can eat around them as they pose no known health risks to me🤢🤢 I sent the food back paid for my other items and left.
If you love seafood, you need to stop by this restaurant and try them out. They are beyond a seafood restaurant. i would recommend it to all my friends. Thank you for the services today.

2021-08-08Stopped in for quick snack before ice cream. I usually dont eat that much seafood to far away from the beach but this place is amazing. The kids loved it, even the frogs legs, as well as myself and the prices are great.

2022-02-06We visited here for the first time because there’s one supposedly coming to oconee. We enjoyed the food it was hot fresh and tasty and the service was good. The only issue my party of 4 adults and 2 kids is both checks there was a $15 Gratuities add to our bill when we got ready to pay. I completely understand this when it’s a big party and i would normally probably tip $10-$15 depending on service but when it’s just added to your bill it hits different. Hope you guys can fix this issue before the next time we visit.

2022-02-13Rude!! This was my first time coming never again! The pregnant girl was so sweet nice and helpful… The other girl was rude , smart mouth and had a bad attitude on the phone and in person… after the long wait I paid 40$ just to get home and my food still be wrong!!! 40$ for one crab leg and shrimp no mussels! Extremely mad for how I was treated. I literally would have been the best customer I’m new around and I eat seafood weekly! As a business owner I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!

2022-02-18Not worth the money. I give the flavor 5/10. Freshness 5/10. I paid 85 dollars for a cluster of crab legs less than a pound shrimp,two potatoes. And I also got a side of eggs and sausage because it doesnt come with it. Keep looking for another restaurant.

2022-06-1218% service charge for parties of 5 or more. Apparently they charge the same thing for parties of 2. Unfortunately, they were unable to reverse it for some reason. I wasnt planning to tip 18% but that day I had to. By the time the 6 of us in our family eat, 18% plus a tip is more than I want to pay.The food is good but not that good. This regular customer can eat elsewhere.

2022-03-12I love the gumbo. I get extra shrimp added. Overall, the seasoning is perfect over the white rice. Its my go-to. I have also enjoyed their seafood boil bags.

2022-05-07This place needs alot of work... they have items on the menu thats not available anymore... when you order if its an item that comes with the meal that you dont want you cant substitute anything.. so your stuck with food you dont want.. and the food wasnt seasoned that good.. they need new cooks but the gumbo and rice is pretty good.. this place needs work

The room and the music were quite delightful as well! // stopped back in a few more times and this place is progressing quite nicely. We really enjoyed our evening wings and quick drink.//stopped in an another occasion for lunch and the food was great. , tried frog legs for the first time and few other items.
