Went to the DMV not customer service at all got in line 20mins before closing got turned away instead of closing off at the last person in line was told to come back. Not cool at all ... Very non customer service... The police man on duty standing up to us like we going to do something. It not serious at all for him to be acting like he had a problem with brown people. . . Hmmm
South DeKalb mall is just as Dead & Ratchet as the Mall Westend🤦🏾♀️. Who shops @ malls besides Lenox & Philps plaza any more anyways🤷🏾♀️. Jk😂, I actually do go to South DeKalb mall more for shoe releases, AUNTIE ANNIES, THE DMV, tag office and the Macys is descent & convenient but thats it!
This mall has changed so serevely over the years. It is like a ghost town, so many empty stores, and no anchor store in the mall. Theres barely a reason to go there unless you need to go to the DMV!! Its the closest mall to me, but I would go out of my way to go to a mall with better stores!
Went to see the black Santa but didnt know he went to break at 1 we got there at 12ish. Well we stayed in line because the told us to. Had a issue with someone that got oit of like coming back (I was tolf they were not saving spots if you left) but the ppl there were nice enough to fix it and we got our pictures before he wnt to lunch I was one happy mommy 😁
No, the mall is self need to be cleaned inside out. The mall need better vendors inside and they should hire off duty police department officers to care for the people that shop in the mall. Maybe then they can get more professional business inside the mall. The food court is full of MSG/SALT and nasty talking employees.
If you just need a quick outfit or a pair of sneakers its cool. I was in the mall when they shot the glass and robbed the jewelry store. Very scary. And the worst part was to overhear the mall manager say they only have cameras at the entrance and not physically inside the mall
Unfortunately another of our malls has been gutted (West End, South Dekalb, North Dekalb)They only leave sportswear stores, foot locker, finish line kids foot locker, * mall/ beauty supply, etc.... they dont even thank enough of our spending power to provide selections. At what point do we make them acknowledge and respect our spending power by holding back our money. Clearly not gonna hear us otherwise. And the Asian Americans locking us out of supplying beauty products to ourselves. When do we see that too?
Well, what can I say? I grew up very near the S. DeKalb Mall. This used to be a very nice and clean mall. It has deteriorated over the decades but, you still can find a few good stores to shop in. It needs to be razed and replaced with more progressive development. Ill always be connected to this place in some way or another.
Sooooo. I went to SD for an appointment at DDS. While I was waiting, I thought Id get some steps in by walking the mall. How about a security guard stopped me to ask how he could help?! Ummm. Im walking? He informs me that the mall opens at 11 and walking is not allowed until then. Admittedly, I never go there anymore except for tags and license renewals but I thought walking the mall was a thing? Obviously not at SD. Until I was stopped, I saw many empty stores and everything else was locked to the max. Good thing I can handle most of my tag/license business online going forward.
Spit., last time we were here somebody got shot. Looked like a barber was in a fight. There was clippers, comb and brush, and hair stuff all over tye ground. Other than that, we go here for hair cuts and the Avon store was her,but shes gone now.Other than that, the DMV is here and a few other stores. No major stores. Just little spandex, urban stores if your into that.Sometimes I may stop at Rainbow.I would say yes,its worth stopping by,if nothing more than to see the beauty supply store.
This mall is hood AF already however I still drive 40 miles to spend money in my old neighborhood. So I drive out here early this morning only to find out they now open at 11 instead of 10 oclock a.m. like every other mall in the state of Georgia so basically its a flea market now. Oh well... I have no time for these little games,.... Im off to spend my money at a real mall and I wont be back✌✌
Quick and easy watch battery replacement. The repairman was courteous and very efficient. He promised 10 minutes for four watches and he was done in 10 minutes! It looks likes the mall has had a bit of a revival. Ive not seen it so busy in quite a while. Glad the economy appears to be picking up in the area.
Lots of interesting shops with nice people. You can find unique outfits here that you wont see at any other local malls or stores. I bought a big puffy rainbow coat and I love it. Great places to get shoes and accessories. Theres a kiosk that sells wonderful scented oils. This mall also houses a voting station during elections and the ever important DMV.
This mall is some what convenient because there are no other malls in the immediate area. However, this mall is seriously lacking. Its missing most of the usual basic stores that most malls have. The customer service in a lot of the stores is horrible. Especially the womens clothing boutiques. No friendly hello or do you need any help. You just get stares or they just ignore you.The food court is horrible. Theyve closed about 3 or 4 of the good eateries (to include a Chick-fil A, a soul food eatery, and a burger restaurant) and only 3 remain. A Chinese food eatery, Jasons Deli, and a very filthy Dairy Queen. However when you go out into the mall there is a cookie stand and an Annies pretzels. The Drivers Services & Tag office located inside is so convenient!
I hate to say it but its one of the worst shopping malls Ive been to in years! Ive been going to this mall since I was a little kid I graduated class of 88 I seen this mall go completely down it just not the same anymore I believe they need to go ahead and close it!!!!
Most of the people are very friendly! I love everyone in the mall office and the cleaning people along with the security officers!! Plus that’s one of the cleanest malls I’ve ever been in and I’ve been in a lot of malls all over the east coast and mid west. They do a great job running that mall! 🖤🖤
Got 2 to go dinners at Piccadillys restaurant. Baked fish with broccoli casserole and carrot souffle on one order and 1/2 baked chicken with boiled, seasoned okra and macaroni and cheese on the other. I know that I can always count on Piccadilly for an excellent meal anytime. I am personally thankful that they are still there, because another person said that some others have closed. It is a shame, because the price of a really good meal in a relaxing and casual environment is not more than most frantic fast food place.
This mall is clean.. It is very conveniently located. The tag office & the drivers license place is right inside of it. The selection of quality clothing/shoe stores is minimal. The only somewhat decent store there is Macys. All of the other stores are urban type stores. There is no expectation of anyone shopping there but younger urban citizens.
Its sad to see the condition of this mall. Upon entering I had a guy try to sell my family Gucci belts. After that It has one small level of stores that all basically sell the same thing: club outfits, jewelry and sneakers. The rest of the stores inside are closed down. The food court is unbelievably small w/ just 4 places to eat & there are police officers posted EVERYWHERE which made me feel even more concerned about my safety. This place is clearly on its last leg.
I went to Piccadilly food was very good and hot the eating area was clean waitress was very nice and pleasant. They need more brand name stores in the mall for it to come up again. And people Bev to stop shop lifting and getting do mad until they fight in the malls and shoot this what make brand stores move out from the malls.
Went into Chapel Beauty. While searching for what I bought, I wasnt greeted as if they were happy I came in to shop in their establishment. I will go back, only because of the large variety of beauty products sold here & its near where I live, I wish customer service was a lot more friendlier. Inside the rest of the mall, there are other fun stores. Not too sure about the customer service though. I rarely shop here. In this mall the DeKalb County Motor Vehicle Department is located here. So if you need to get drivers licenses, identification cards, etc, this is the mall to come to.
This place cant even be considered a mall. This is the worst waste of time I ever spent. I didnt buy anything because this place has only one floor and about 20 stores. If your a female do not come here looking for a good time. There are no good place here and the dudes there a very disrespectful. If youre a male believe me most of the women there are not the ones you want to hook up with. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Why the Man in the Cookie Place is not wearing a mask? Just like everybody else. I am very cautious around this pandemic and about a few months into this pandemic, he has been serving customers without a mask. I came there twice during the pandemic, and the second time, a couples after my first, he still not wearing a mask.
Needed to replace lost CDL license. Looked them up on line. Filled out pre- app but didnt get a promp for making an appointment. Well I should of dug deeper into that subject. They had a line for people who had appointments and one for walk-ins. If I could of done it on line I would have, but having a CDL you have to go in person. If I was prompted with further instructions on setting an appointment up after filling out the pre-app I certainly would have. So after standing in line for over 4 hrs and watching countless people who had appointments go through the DDS doors with not even one walk in allowed to for a straight 2 hrs was pretty pathetic.
Outside needs to be maintained and regularly cleaned. Interior needs work. Do away with machine that allows resell of (most likely stolen) cellphones. Music and ambiance do not appeal to mature, responsible consumers. Food court needs better restaurants. Had the Chinese food, but wasnt sure what meat I was eating, definitely not chicken!
This mall is empty. Macys is the only department store. The rest of the stores are local or smaller retailers. There are plenty of shoe retailers here. You can find almost all of the big ones here. So if you are looking for a great pair of sneakers you can start here.
Time, it waits for no man or mall in this case. This mall use to be from what I hear fun and upbeat but, age has been cruel to this facility and it shows. All I can say to this place is grow it or stow it. But, do something you useful with all these stores and land for the beautifacation of its surroundings and restore a real shopping mall atmosphere.
So I went to chapel beauty, and was greeted at the door. I was able to look around for what I needed without being harrassed. I asked for help and about 2 people were trying to assist me. You couldnt ask for better service than what they gave. I was also helped in finding the right kind if hair for braids and sew in. My Beauty Shop My Chapel Beauty
Made an appt for my fiance to get his ID. At 1st it was a line until the rep MRS BELL(I think thats how its spelled) came outside to see whom had appts and verified along with making sure everyone had the proper paperwork needed. We were there no more than 30 mins. One of the best experiences I have ever had with the DMV. Also the young lady whom took care of us was named Mrs Kalisha I believe and she had a wonderful spirit and put a smile on our faces
This mall is probably one of the oldest malls in miles and it shows. It has a few big name stores, but there are several smaller stores on the inside that are privately owned by locals In the area. Im all for supporting local business but they need to step up their game if they want to become a viable alternative.
I was given the Department of Driver services address but was not told it was in the mall. The address of the mall is not displayed. Neither are the addresses neighboring businesses. I wasted quite a bit of time riding up and down the street trying to find it. Added to that, the mall are massive. Other than the mall proper theres a whole nother Shopping Center immediately behind the mall. When I finally figured out that I was indeed at the correct address there was no indication thats are the Department of Services was. No indication. None. No sign which said, DDS Entrance. Very frustrating!
South Dekalb Mall has Changed for the best so far as I see for now. The Food Area need to be updated for sure and fast. I see security is in every store I went into the other need to do the same everyone was very nice I could believe that need more security in the parking Area to make customers fill safe.
This is an old outdated mall with only one floor. Theres no diversity in the majority of the clothing and shoe stores and appeals more to young urban teens. Ive heard the food court have roach issues so no to eating anything from there. Your better off going to Stonecrest mall further down I-2O east. Its A LOT better than south dekalb in my opinion.
DDS, Tags and Title AND a voting location are all open IN the mall before the mall itself. Lord have mercy, open the bathrooms! Not a one open anywhere nearby and people stand in line for hours at the only places probably keeping you open. #unchainthejohns #saveourbladders
While shopping at the Chapel Beauty I had the unfortunate experience of needing to use the restroom. I’d shopped there often. I,d hope I would not have a problem being “cleared” to use the restroom (I know they assume everyone is a thief...I always feel unwelcome there as with similar stores). I’m a senior, I made my emergency known politely, and presented my cart to a clerk with the few items I had selected to purchase. To my surprise the clerk said sorry we don’t have a restroom. As an old school shopper I realized that this was once a JC Penny store, that has large men/women restrooms with many stalls in them, I had shopped here years before it was Chapel Beauty. When I expressed that, and practically begged to use the restroom, a second person came and told me with attitude to go use the mall restroom & that I could not use theirs. I headed quickly down to the mall restroom in a panic fighting tears and anger I didn’t know if I was going to make it in time but I made it. I later sat in the courtyard and prayed & cried. I then went to the security office to file a complaint. The lady was sympathetic but pretty much said Chapel Beauty is a big customer there and they’re not required to consider my feelings or support my request. And since that time I have just refused to support them with my money. I like that they have so much to choose from and I know they can’t miss my little dollars and I know a lot of the other beauty supply stores are the same....but I just have to put my foot down somewhere and Chapel. Beauty at South Dekalb Mall is it for me. I can say “I’m DONE” here!!!
Macys is closing so go get the clearance but after that the anchor store will be a beauty supply store that doesnt even have an entrance from inside the mall because they cant secure the .99 cents products they offer, unless they have only one metal detected door. Stay out of this Fleamarket once Macys is gone there is No reason to go there.
This mall has the opportunity to revitalize itself... Its missing anchor stores and other well-known department stores. The only major department store connected to this mall is Macys. Would like to see more stores and restaurants in the near future. I would definitely return to the mall if new stores were added.
This Mall needs more shops to come in and they need to bring back the movies but its a good place to shop but its only limited stores to shop at please bring back the movies now there is a police station there it is safe thats why you need to bring back the movies please
South DeKalb Mall is still a great place to shop! Ive shopped at this Mall for over 26 years. It feels like home. I know where everything is and actually what I want! The food court is clean and they clean the restroom around the clock. South DeKalb Mall. # The real Eastlake! # The real 4 Seasons! # Last but not least, The real Glenwood! 😁💯✌️♥️
Smh. This place isnt what it used to be back when I was growing up. They continuously remove the movie theater then they eventually bring it back with slight differences. The food court only has like 4 restaurants in it, and a lot of inside stores closed or are different than before.
In my travels Ive observed a lot of states dont have the style of clothing that I prefer coming from California but DeKalb Mall has more than enough of what I like( stylish being very unique) great shops awesome clothing if you have an opportunity try to make it a regular thing I plan to go there every 2 to 3 months to pick up my clothes for the seasons.I like going to the mall between 10am and 2pm.
The vague, but undeniably present odor of urine came and went as I walked from one end of this mall to the other in search of the DMV. I discovered various scent hot spots along the way, but was unable to ferret out the exact source of the smell. Maybe it was mold. There are some things man is not meant to know.
Its not even a shell of its former self (and I remember when it was vibrant and bustling back in the 80s, like a real mall). Cheap clothing stores, bare-bones food court. The one remaining anchor store (Macys) is closing. Only positives are the DMV and movie theatre. Other than that, this place should be torn down for good.
My daughter and I walked in to use the DMV which is fine as far as they usually go. However, the floors were so dirty, she slipped on the dirty floor. The parking lot was some kind of gang hangout or something. We tried walking the mall with all the other people doing laps right before the stores opened but being the only whites we were told to leave until the stores opened because we didnt possess a pass. Racist, dirty, unsafe mall. Make sure you lock your car and dont stay inside too long.
There are many places to shop at this location. However, not very many places to dine. Yes theres a food court, Im hoping more places will be available such as Applebees, Longhorns, Mexican restaurant, and other fine dining. Currently, Picadilly is the finest dining where fresh food is served, with outstanding service and great ambience! There are lots of clothing shops here that are appealing. I miss the Movie Theater!
Store is dark, overflowing with inexpensive merchandise and always junky. Truly a bargain basement feel. The company owners need to rework their stores, but probably wont because they are not invested in the neighborhoods where they put them. As long as they can get a profit then its all good in the ****! Hummm!!!
The bathroom is located immediately within the food court and the smell is obscene. There were plenty of feminine products floating in the toilets there were plenty of stalls without toilet paper there were plenty of paper towels left all over the sinks. FYI, bring as much hand sanitizer during your trip to this location.
Why all the comments about this mall, South DeKalb and others like Southlake Mall around the Atlanta area are failing? Theyre failing because not enough people shop at malls anymore. Malls are generally failing all over the country due to large online retailers such as Amazon, etc. The retail industry is competitive and simply is going out. There not any malls expected to look like the days of the 1990s and back. Despite that, I think South DeKalb Mall is still trying to be a staple of the community by providing state government offices inside the mall
It was time for a DL renewal, I took all the necessary documents because I visited the GA DDS website a day or two before going to the office. I even did the skip-a-step thing on the website, so I was able to go right in and take a number. They representative that took care of me at the desk was professional and personable. The whole process was a breeze, thanks to doing my homework before I went.
I have been going to The Gallery at South DeKalb (formerly South DeKalb Mall) for over 30 years....I have seen the mall undergo many changes and even thought at one point sadly it would be shut down. But it has endured and I hope that it continues to present more opportunity to the community
The nail place here is reallllyyy nice. they have a competitor across the street that looks nice but quality and service doesnt compare. The pedicure is amazing! it just says NAILS outside of the shop. but the spa pedicure is $18 and a full set is $20...fill ins are $13. I drive from Covington just for them
Dont go to the American Freat Cookie Custiner Service was not that great. I spent 13. And some odd cents with them, asked for a cup of water and the cashier told me .50. Wait a minute what do I look like paying for tap water....really. I will just stick to Stonecrest Mall, because they give you large cups of water and plenty of ice. Customer service is rare to find these days. I started to give her the whole order back and go to Stonecrest location...
Chapel Beauty, regularly shopped there once a month to buy a unit costing $96 (includes tax). Last visit they were out of this item, promised to order more...on this visit they only had the one item on display, they agreed to give a sad 10 percent discount and gave an unacceptable reason... That many suppliers take a long time to send product!!??? Maam this is the 21st century!! I ordered one myself and got it in 4days for $48 less...going forward I will order on line!!!
I would not suggest shopping at Chapel Beauty in South DeKalb they are very rude especially back in the wig area! I felt they were being very racist they follow ppl around the store every time! Plus their wigs look good at first but after a week they get nappy every time! Very low quality hair for the prices! But the rest of the stores in South Dekalb I love them all just not Chapel
A lot of the shops inside the mall are closed down. Not really a lot of options for good shopping or food. As usual because this a mall frequented by mostly black people ( society thinks we dont deserve anything good), only low quality shops available & not the best options for food. Piccadilly is there but who gets excited about Piccadilly?

2021-12-04Very polite workers. Every year for 21 years my children and I have our picture with Santa. Each year we do a different theme. Last year was mask 2020 and the year before was head dress. This is a tradition we will carry on until I pass this plane.

2022-06-12At first glance I thought the mall was closed or abandoned. Tents from the pandemic are still on the property. I use to visit some great small business located in this mall, but Im not sure if they still exist. When I moved to Georgia in 2016, this mall was flourishing, wow I feel bad for the business in this area. We need better days.

2022-05-24Its now a ghost town even the food court is empty. No major retailers the eat in movie theater closed (didnt last a year) would not waste time trying to shop you wont find anything.

Was told to come back at 6:15 my outfit was thrown on a table now I had to sit and wait and still pay. Horrible I will NEVER return. While waiting someone came to pick her items up I believe a swim suit and something else same thing was not ready and told to come back.

2022-07-01This Mall needs to be updated, this Mall has probably looked the same since my mom was a child, but overall there are some good stores remaining even tho they sell the same things but I only went to get my tag.

2021-12-21The service is pretty good and some days the lines move quick and some days the lines are long and move slow. My real only complaint is that there is no sign outside letting you know where the license branch is located. Even Google maps doesnt tell you that you have to actually walk into the Mall to get to the license branch. So you spend a lot of time driving in the Mall parking lot looking for the license branch. This may be one of the reasons why the customers all seem to have attitudes upon arrival, laughing out loud...
