The Olive Tree Restaurant - Hiram in other cities:
First time here and definitely wont be out last. Late lunch so it was very quiet. Food was wonderful and service very good also. Lunch menu had good selection, prices and portions reasonable. We are planning going back for dinner one night with a more extensive menu. I cant wait.
Not as great as I expected for the prices and service was not up to par as well. Dinner rolls were not fresh and definitely had that refrigerated then microwaved taste and texture to them. Not just my opinion, but also the three women l was dining with as well. A lot of young waitpersons. Had to ask twice about my beer I ordered before the food came out. A really good attendant would have also noticed the empty glass of wine that one of my guests set out in the open spot of the table. The food was good but not great. Maybe well give them another try on a different night of the week and see how it goes. A recent response from the owner has prompted me to give them another try. Ill update them...
Was driving along Highway 92 and pulled into old Hiram for a look. The Olive Tree is in an old storefront and looked interesting. It was a great find! Friendly staff and nice old brick walls made for a leisurely lunch. The lemon salmon on spinach was excellent. A new find that we will visit again.
This restaurant it’s sooooooooo good !!!!! Food is fresh, delicious and not expensive.Restaurants it’s clean and staff extremely friendly!!And yes they are short staffed because of the pandemic but they are doing a wonderful job!!! Thank you my family really enjoyed our lunch today!!!Notice the bite of the yummy garlic roll…. I couldn’t resist!!!Everyone please support this restaurant it’s a true gem!!!!
Have been here twice now-drive from Smyrna--initially because a great place to train watch with our granddaughter, and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! Great pizza! Gio was our server today--VERY accommodating with our special requests/dietary needs. Pleasant young man, warm smile.Look forward to dinners here, and when they are able to bring in a jazz trio...acoustics are great!Thank you Gio for making another wonderful afternoon for us!
Visited Hiram, GA location. The crab cakes are genuine Baltimore style! My husband and I are Baltimore born and raised. They have a sister restaurant in Maryland. Thats why they are very authentic! Service was awesome! Our waitress was the best. So sorry we do not remember her name but she was attentive to our needs and treated us great! Hopefully she knows we appreciated her because we left her a pretty good tip! lol
Went for my birthday this year, and overall was underwhelmed. The plates and cutlery were scratched and old, tablecloths were dirty and/or stained. Salad had wilted vegetables. Shrimp scampi was overall bland and odd sticky texture of the sauce. Atmosphere was alright, but the music reminded me of jazz they play on the Weather Channel. Was not worth the $110 for 3 people
Havent been here in years but will definitely be back! We enjoyed it immensely. Service was great. Food was awesome. Wine and Martinis were fabulous! We had the Malbec and Lemon Drop Martinis, Lasagna, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Scallopini. All were fantastic!! Highly recommend!!
The Hiram Olive Tree catered my daughter’s wedding and everything was delightful!I could not have asked for a more professionally presented happy hour and buffet for our event!Harry and Martin were helpful from start to finish with the perfect suggestions for a successfully delish night.
Ok I dont usually make bad reviews but I just have to be 💯 because I feel bamboozled. I went in for the first time because I was working in the area and based on the reviews that I now know are not true. I ordered the Greek bruschetta to start which was dry, with no tomatoes...weird. What makes this worse is the bruschetta was the best thing I received. The chicken picatta was so drenched in lemon that the chicken was actually yellow and so tangy it overpowered anything else in the dish. I couldnt even eat it. I took it to go (because I didnt want to be rude to anyone) but threw it away at a local gas station because the smell was making me sick. My friend ordered the crab cake as an appetizer and it was literally disgusting. The previous reviewer saying that they serve MA style crab cakes is lying. Im from up north and know the difference. It literally was a seafood flavored bread ball that had a weird taste with no crabmeat. It was sent back and taken off the bill. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan and I will say that it looked amazing but had no seasoning...again weird. We also never received any rolls. The waitress was nice/professional and I left her a good tip anyway. But if the owner wants some sound advice...come to Savannah and visit Corleones or Garibaldis and then talk to the cook. Not trying to be extra Im just saying the cook can do better. Running a successful business can be hard and the restaurant has so much potential. The Kitchen Nightmares comment was true🥴. Best of luck🤞🏽
Me and My hubby was looking for a Italian place in the Dallas Area.Nothing came up so we decided to drive to Hiram. I just happen to find this place on Google. We got carry out.I ordered when I got there. The Customer service was pretty good. The food came out pretty fast too. Pretty Good food. The Only 2 Cons:The Garlic Bread tasted like hamburger buns with garlic butter on it.And My Spaghetti needed more Meat Sauce. It was kind of dry.
My wife and I were craving some spaghetti and there are no Italian restaurants around our house, since wed been here before a long time ago and we remembered the food was good so we decided to try it again. Glad we did!Service is good, atmosphere is cozy, they have perfect music for the atmosphere as well, from Frank Sinatra to Bing Crosby, Etta James, etc; our server Courtney was efficient and her service was excellent. As stated we wanted the spaghetti so we ordered that, I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and my wife had the same with meatballs, which comes with a salad and bread. The house salad dressing is excellent, its some kind of Greek dressing, like a blend of Italian and maybe a hint of thousand island in it? Delicious, I sopped up the remainder with the bread rolls. The spaghetti was very good, the sauce was hearty, a tad bit sweet for me but still delicious. It definitely tool care of our craving. For dessert we had the tiramisu, which was so good I forgot to take a photo, so I took a pic of the menu picture, which does no justice to the actual dessert. Our waitress Courtney gave us the dessert for free since we had a bit of a wait, but the wait was our fault not hers since we switched tables! They also have outside seating, which is very cozy and you can smoke out there. They have a good selection of wines and beer and a full bar.Definitely recommend. 5 star based on very good food and exceptionally great customer service. Thank you Courtney!
The location is in a quaint area. Mellow vibe on the inside. The food was really good. Wasnt a long wait (we ordered to go). Honestly, after visiting Italy/Greece, the quality of pasta I’ve tasted at locations here in GA are ‘ok’ and lack authenticity or that homely touch. This place was good though. I still added salt and pepper as you will see in the pics but we would come back.
This was a very nice restaurant where you can sample Italy or Greece in one place! Id give it a 4.5! The spanakopita was probably the best Ive had! The kids chicken dish was a hit with my kido! The appetizer sampler was great. My meal was a sampler too, gyro meat, chicken skewer, grape leaf, spanakopita, large potatoes and pita. The exposed brick was beautiful and the trains passing kept the kids entertained.
If I could give zero stars I would! I have no human idea how this place has almost 5 stars. If you have ever watched Kitchen Nightmares by Gordon Ramsey, this restaurant is the same idea. I think this place has so much potential with the location but an effort on quality ingredients is NEEDED. Best of luck.
Food was great, an awesome mix of Greek and Italian but service was incredibly slow. An overwhelming majority of the dining area was empty and we had a 45 minute wait as well as an hour wait after ordering. The food was great though and I understand the strain put on staff during the pandemic.
My wife & I tried this restaurant for lunch. I had the pasta trio & she got the chicken parm.... It was great & the portions were nice. You get 2 pieces of chicken from the lunch menu & good portions on the trio. The trio was fettuccine alfredo, 1 manicotti & lasagna (AWESOME by the way) Pricing was good also. 8.50 & 9.00$ for the lunch menu. You also get a salad & garlic rolls with the meal. We DEFINITELY will be going back to the Olive Tree in Downtown Hiram very soon 👍👌
This is an excellent restaurant! Located in old town Hirum, our latest visit was in the middle of a weekday around 230pm so we were the only patrons. This is the 2nd time to visit and both times the food and customer service had been the best. Peyton was our server this last visit and she was skillful in being attentive to our needs without being intrusive. The food was great and the atmosphere relaxing. Pictured is the Greek Combo and the Eggplant Parmasian that came with salad and excellent dinner rolls. Highly recommend you visit. You wont regret it.
My husband and I went for the first time tonight. I ordered the chicken Parmesan, thinking that was a pretty safe dish for a new place. The chicken was hardly breaded, if at all, and consisted of three, dry thin chicken breasts, chewy with gristle, sitting in spaghetti sauce with cheese melted on top. The accompanying spaghetti was basically cafeteria style spaghetti, a puddle of a basic sauce on noodles. My husband ordered the gyro platter - presumably a very safe choice at a Greek restaurant. It tasted great on the way in — but was a nightmare about an hour later. A meal largely uneaten and gastrointestinal distress for the low price of nearly $50, tip included. Rather than Olive Tree… I think I’ll stick to Olive Garden 😬
Brought my 2 sons here for lunch and everything was delicious! We all ordered different things and none of us had any complaints (my boys are very picky eaters). We ordered fried Calamari & Mozzarella sticks for the appetizer, I ordered Salmon w/ veggies and Greek potatoes, my oldest ordered the Pecan encrusted Catfish and my youngest ordered a “build your own pizza.” Definitely our new spot when visiting this side of town.
Love everything about this place ! Me and my husband went on a Wednesday when they had their $2.99 drink special and we decided we will go here every Wednesday for a date night . The restaurant is really cute , the food was amazing ! And the drinks were great too . We had a really sweet server and everyone had great customer service . Definitely going to spread the word and show all of my visiting family this spot. Also I’d like to add me and my husband are vegetarian/pescatarian and the amount of things we could choose from really pleased me ! Plus the head chef altered the lasagna for me so I could eat that as well !! They are outstanding here!
The food was AMAZING! My wife and I just moved up here, so we went here for dinner. She got the baked ziti and I got the chicken souvlaki. Both of our meals had HUGE portions and they were delicious. Our server was quick and polite. The owner even came over to make sure everyone dining was doing alright. :)Overall, very tasty, very affordable, and we will absolutely be coming back with friends and family.THANKS YALLLLLLL
I had ordered some spaghetti for me and family, this was my first time visiting olive tree in general. I had placed the order through the phone the person on the phone said the food would be ready in 30 minutes and he took my phone number so far so good. On the way there I was dealing with a car wreck on the road which had made me late and he said that he tried calling me but it rang as unknown/ potential spam call. He was very very rude when I explained to him why arrived late, he didn’t care and said he threw away my food. He was shrugging his shoulders as well and I told him have a good day. He looked Hispanic and was a big guy kinda balled and short haired guy, I never got his name. I had went to the thorton road location instead talked to a guy named Brandon he was very nice and the staff and took care of me, I’m going to there location for now on. Worst first experience ever.
Food was delicious I put in an order online and they had it ready in a timely manner. Presentation of the food was perfect and the portions were more then enough we ordered three plates between 4 of us and we were all able to have it again the next day ! Everything was fresh and very authentic Italian and Greek definitely a new favorite in Hiram.
Had dinner last night here. I read all the reviews bc I am a picky eater. The wait was short and the service was very good. Also, loved the feel of the old building. Was hesitant to order crab cake appetizer but we did. Much to my surprise, it was delicious..our waitress Kashley said they were really good and it was good as any served in Atlanta. Our salad was very fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. So I’m thinking how could this place get a few bad reviews? Well when my eggplant parmigiana came out piping hot, and is this going to be good? Well! It was the best parm I have ever had. Btw, I have had Ippolito’s, Maggiono’s and a small diner in Buckhead and this is by far the perfect eggplant parmigiana. So all I can say is treat your family to delicious Italian dinner here. I live in Buckhead and eat out often, this place would do so well closer to Atlanta. Oh yeah. we did get dessert to take home…it was a real gem, tucked away in Hiram. I’ll be back. Bon appetite
My sisters wedding rehearsal dinner was here. Never been. It’s a drive for me but if anyone ever ask for a suggestion for something great to eat in Hiram I’ll be sure to let them know about this place. Rolls were great. Warm and fresh. Lasagna and Alfredo was great. Great service for such a big party.
The food was great. The bread that was served was bad it looked liked bread you would buy in bulk from Walmart, had no taste except the garlic butter smeared on it,very disappointed. Service was good the waiter was attentive and pleasant. The manager(?)seemed put out that we showed up.
Busy on a Tuesday night and was rushed through the meal (main course brought while still eating salad) which wasnt much better than an Olive Garden entree with smaller portions. I had eaten here in the past and didnt remember having a negative experience at that time but probably wont return if I can help it.
I used to like dining at this particular Olive Tree location because they had friendly staff and great food. I didnt go there for a long time, and when I finally went back something was different. The dine in experience for me was unpleasant at best on this go around. Our waiter and his service, or lack of service rather. He brought our drinks, then the food, and check at the same time. I never saw him again after that. So when we finished up I had to put the money for our tab and a very fair tip on the table and we left. The food is still the same which is very good, but I dont think Ill eat inside ever again. Carry out only from now on. 😀
We are in LOVE!! This is hands down the most amazing place to get Italian or Greek food. Housed in a little old town orginal building but has room for everyone. The staff are so kind and welcoming and want to make your time with them like family. Food is scratch made and gets more than one sigh of pure bliss. Our new Friday night date place!!
As a first time customer and new to the area, we have been trying out the local cuisine. My family and a couple of good friends (party of 4 plus high chair) we were seated promptly and greeted by our server as soon as we sat. She was very knowledgeable of the dishes and extremely friendly. She never let the drinks get empty and checked on us frequently. The food was wonderful, we had the lasagna, chicken parmigiana, the trio plate and cheese sticks. The portion sizes were great and we had plenty left over. The server was definitely by far the best we’ve had since swing in the area and the food was well above the rest. We highly recommend and will be back.Date of visit: 2/15/19Time of visit: 8:30pm- 9:45pm
They were having a Frank Sinatra night and the music was way too loud. We could not hear each other. It was finally turned down and was much better. Three of our guests did not get their meals until the rest of us were half through with our meals. The other meals were very good but we will be certain to check if we come back again what will be going on that night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was set up and ready for my daughters birthday party. Thank you.
Originally booked a reservation for 15 for my wifes birthday party. Number of guests quickly grew to 23. Restaurant staff happily accommodated me when advised of my increase. Guest were treated very well upon arrival with everything setup and ready to go. Service was outstanding and food was excellent.
Worst Italian restaurant Ive ever been to. The bruschetta tasted like bagel bites; they had melted cheese on top and the tomatoes were overly ripe. The house salad dressing tasted watered down and was not good. I would not recommend this place and I will not be coming back.
My parents have lived nearby in Dallas for over 10 years, but this was our first time here. Brought my Mom here for her 75th birthday and she totally loved it. Super cute place on the square in Hiram by railroad tracks. Our server, Cindy, was fantastic. Nice to see white tablecloths arent totally lost on dining experiences anymore! But, the best part was the exceptional portions of food for the price! Very delicious!
We got there at 6:15pm on a Saturday night and were immediately seated. The dinner crowd started arriving around 6:30 and the place filled up.We noticed a special menu item Maryland Crab Cakes and questioned the waitress who was very personable and helpful. The restaurant has a location in Baltimore. We are from SE Pa. and still visit the Maryland shore when we go to visit. In Georgia, crab cakes are more like cake with some crab. That aint what Maryland Crab Cakes are about. They are about CRAB Meat. We shared the Crab Cake Appetizer and it earned our respect big time. Marylands best Crab Restaurants arent the fancy places. Look for a dingy exterior with a lot of cars in the lot. The locals know where the good stuff is.Back to the Olive Tree. We ordered the Moussaka and it was delicious. We dont know much about Greek food but the taste was great.Great Service, Reasonable Price, Great Food.
I ordered 2 pizzas and a Caesar salad today (14Aug20) and you asked me to provide my input. First, they were all very good and I will order take out again. But, according to my tastes I would like a slightly thinner crust, a little more spice in the sauce to offset the sweetness and offer the smaller spicier pepperoni which curls up. I have eaten inside a number of times since we moved here from Michigan in 2013, had a number of entrees and have NOT be disappointed. I would love to see you add a filet steak and sirloin to the menu. In my 45 years in the Detroit automotive business I entertained clients 1 or 2 a day in restaurants around the world and Olive Tree matches up to most. My close friend owned the top Italian restaurant in Detroit (Marios) now run by his son and family. Look up their menu on line. Thanks for a great meal and I look forward to many more at Olive Tree Hiram.
Olive Tree is our go to for date night. The food is delicious, the atmosphere relaxing and the staff all provide great service. The owner is on site and greets everyone but particularly remembers repeat customers. Were so pleased they are one of the non-chain restaurants to survive the pandemic. Olive Tree is also very accommodating with preordering family meals to go and their portions are generous.
Server did a good job, the food was good but they were struggling turning tables and it took some time for our meals to be served. Longer than I am accustomed to at Olive Tree. The gentleman at the door was a bit gruff and didnt communicate much during our 40 minute wait to be seated.
Our server Matt was great, the Greek bruschetta was very tasty. The big disappointment came when the main course was brought out, the Gyro meat was basically spam. It was way over seasoned and the tzitziki sauce wasnt great either. On the plus side the pita bread was awesome.
1st time here. Loved it! I had the the Tour of Greece entree and enjoyed every bite. Wonderful spices, superb grilling. For a Saturday night we were able to park right next to the entrance. Quality dining at affordable prices. Each entree ran about $15 and so stuffed by the end, no room for dessert. Our server was Frankie, she works Tues and Saturdays and was a delight, made us feel very welcomed and she added real character to the place. While it was loud because of others diners talking, my husband and I were able to carry on our conversation with no problems.Love the variety on the menu, plan to try something else new next time. Husband had the Shrimp Alfredo and was in awe when not only did he have plenty of sauce but also a few shrimp left. Thats rare for him as this is his favorite dish.Salad was plentiful with cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and several different greens. The bread was garlic rolls, so soft, like pillows made from flour and seasoned with garlic and butter. YUM!Fancy without being pretentious. We will be going back and making this one of our regular spots for excellent food and atmosphere. A must if you like Greek or Italian.
We were looking for a restaurant that we havent been to in our area for our 9 year anniversary. I read the reviews and decided to see for myself. We were very happy with our choice. We had a table in the back against the wall. It was very intimate with low lit lighting. We both had meals with grilled scallops that was absolutely delicious. We had wine and beer and two dessert options. The cheesecake was ok, but the limoncello was amazing! Our server was very nice and told us a little about the history of the building. Well definitely be going back.
Salad from a bag. Rolls from a bag or freezer. Noodles from a box. Even the sauce tasted like it was not handmade. Absolutely nothing special about the food here. Authentic Greeks and Italians would be furious. All around lousy. I can see why there was only two customers for lunch.
Our family (party of 13) visited to celebrate a birthday tonight. We brought in a cake and asked the waitress to bring out plates. She returned and said that the owner wanted to charge us $1.00 per plate to eat our cake. I have been to many other restaurants to celebrate special occasions and have never been charged to use a plate. Very disappointing that the owner of this establishment is more concerned with squeezing every bit of $ he can out of you. Our family will not be returning or recommending this establishment to anyone. I hope that nobody else will select this restaurant for a special occasion.
The only good part of the meal was our server. Our wait for simple meals was over 45 minutes. The food was bland. Chicken in the chicken fettuccine alfredo was a $3 upcharge and had no seasoning at all. And I dont mean just not much flavor, it was honestly grilled with nothing at all on it. No salt, pepper, nothing. Out of the five people we dined with, none of us enjoyed the food. Not worth the wait. Not worth the time.
Well we tried it again on November 29, 2019. I have to say the service was better than before but the food IS NOT!! I ordered Fettuccini Alfredo the sauce was just ok, a little salty and the noodles werent done. The bread and salad were good. My husband ordered the The Tour of Greece. He didnt like it at all. The chicken on his plate was under cooked and one of the items on his plate, not sure what it was didnt taste good at all, like it was bad. Third time is supposed to be the charm but not this time.
Food was excellent! My fiance and I went there and it was our first visit..we loved it. We got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and both got salads. I got the lasagna and my fiance got the Chicken parm...they were both huge portions and very delicious!!! Our service was great as well...overall a great experience and was very reasonably priced. We will be going there for Italian from now on.
Very disappointed was expecting better. Ordered take out. Received 4 cheese sticks for $8. The spaghetti and meat sauce did not have the meat. The sauce and noodles were very watery. Different pasta noodles mixed in as well. Tomatoes and paste spaghetti sauce. My wife did received rice instead if potatoes with her shrimp dish. Overpiced for what we ordered. Will not be wasting my money with this establishment again. Play it safe order from someplace else.
I have dined at all three of The Olive Tree restaurants. I have had great food at each and especially love the Maryland Crab Cakes. The wait staff is attentive to your dinning experience. It is very nice not to feel rushed. I enjoyed having a cocktail before being seated(by the way, great cocktails). I would and have revisited all three many times!!!!
Picked up a ‘family meal’ for 4 of Chicken Piccata with all the extras. All I can say is WOW!!! I knew their portions were huge having eaten there several times, but nothing prepared me for the enormity of this meal especially considering how little we paid for it. As usual it tasted amazing, but also managed to feed not 4 but 6 of us!!! And we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Thank You Olive Tree for keeping us from feeling deprived of our family night out even in the middle of a quarantine.
Really should just do a 2 star for we went just Saturday around 2ish and place only had 1 party of 6 and a party of 2 we had to wait to be seated (no one was near by up front, looked abandoned) we ordered and food came out quickly which was awesome BTW but then we were forgotten about for we needed refills and had to get the another waitress who we stopped as she walked by us to help us get more to drink. Then we wanted dessert and had to get the other waitress again. Our waitress came by as other had completed our order and told her we were ready for our check and to go box. My son and I ordered the pasta mix I believe and only 5hing fresh or worth saving was the fettuccine. For the price and good reviews we read we thought it would be out if this world place. We were disappointed and maybe on a busier day food is better and service is on top of their game. We will try on another day and time and see. Just wanted to let u know
We had a party of 9, so the wait time was long. Thats fine and understandable. The food was sub-par, though. The service sucked. Each time you asked the server for something, its as if we were bothering her. Only one person ordered appetizer. You would think they would bring everyones salad at the same time as his app, No.We had to ask for bread. We waited a ridiculously long time for the salads and then waiting for the entrees was even longer.Serving a large party is not their forte. Its not somewhere I would eat again or recommend.
Absolutely excellent food and service. We eat there about 2-3 times per week and are never disappointed. Their pizza is awesome, the lasagna is the best around, and the lunch fish wrap is perfect. I highly recommend them. The owner Teressa runs an excellent business and restaurant!!!
I was very excited to be able to visit Olive Tree again, it has bee a couple of years since our last time at this restaurant. I was a bit hesitant about going so late in the afternoon as I was afraid the food may reflect the fact the employees wanted to go home. I was correct in that assessment. First of all, the rolls seemed to be unsliced hamburger buns with garlic and olive oil on top. (first disappointment) I ordered the fettuccini, which was very salty and unedible, (the broccoli was undercooked) when I asked for parmesan cheese, I was handed a shaker of processed cheese. Even Olive Garden gives you fresh grated cheese. My husband ordered lasagna and it literally had NO noodles. I mean what??? It was merely a pile of hamburger a small amount of sauce and a piece of melted cheese on top in a small baking dish. No layers, no ricotta, and it was extremely bland. My son had spaghetti and meatballs which he enjoyed. I was very disappointed to go home hungry, but could not honestly think of anything else to eat. Am sad to say this was our last visit to the Olive Tree
First time going and have to say unfortunately its our last.... me and my husband went out for our Anniversary to somewhere new, And the only good thing is that our waitresses was great! otherwise the meal was awful from spaghetti and chicken alfredo........ for the prices everything was definitely not worth it everything tasted bland and store bought in frozen food section or worse, Made me wonder when we got our food extremely fast as were eating our salad. Sadly we didnt have a good Anniversary dinner.
This restaurant has the best staff Ive ever encountered. The owners were wonderful and always attentive. The food is excellent. The spanakopita is to die for. The Greek salad is excellent as well as their pizza, and my husband is a pizza nut. We are now regulars and have also had a large group party there which everyone loved. The old building is unique and the atmosphere is great for couples or families with kids. The Olive Tree is an unexpected gem in a small town.
The Food: Unfortunately this is my biggest complaint! I ordered the pasta combo because I wanted to try multiple things from a place ive never been, it was all pretty gross none of it tasted fresh at all. The plate was so hot that I cant help but assume that they took each entree and reheated it in the oven on the plate or perhaps it was microwaved but you could really tell something was off by the dried up marinara on top of the lasagna and ricotta. My wife ordered the chicken marsala and the wine could not be tasted at all. We had really hoped to have found an italian restaurant near us but will have to pass it to go out to one in a surrounding county.Service: The waiter we had (I do not remember his name) was very much on top of things. It was a busy friday night his tables were slammed but I never felt like I did not get enough attention at our table. So their service is good.Atmosphere: everything about the atmosphere was good the decoration, the bar area, the people. The only complaint I have is some of the corner tables feel a bit crowded and if they were to even take out one small table it would really add some breathing room.
2020 has been by far the worst year of my 63 years on this earth so far. It started with health challenges for the first time in my life that has made everything in life more difficult, then this conaravirus and the hysteria it has caused has taken away everything I love to go do (theater plays, movies and even most restaurants) All these hard hits have left me very depressed. It has left me looking all over for restaurants that I could go sit down in and eat at. I found one shining light in this desert of gloom, the Olive Tree Restaurant in Hiram. Thankfully Paulding County allowed it to be open to dine-in this long. I drove up there tonight from Atlanta and this place is a dream come true. it is amazing! I went up there for lasagna, one of my favorite things to eat. Everything I had to eat was totally wonderful, the service was fantastic, and the ambience of the over 100 year old building was fascinating to me, since I absolutely love old buildings! The meal started with vegetable soup, which was wonderful, and a totally delicious yummy bread roll which melted in my mouth it was so good. Then came the fabulous hot tasty wonderful lasagna. It was so good I was sad when it was all gone. I thought that was it but there was more, a wonderful yummy cheesecake to top it all off. Then I was really sad when it was all over because everything was so good.Peyton, my server, couldnt have been better. Her service was as exceptional as the food also was from beginning to end. This conaravirus thing and what it has taken from me has been the worst thing I have ever had to live through and it figures to get even worse for me as everything I love to do is now closed to me. The one good thing that has happened to my life as a result of this conaravirus thing has been discovering the Olive Tree Restaurant. If I dont get to make it back before they close too, I will definitely be back when they reopen. One way or another I will definitely be back and I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Olive Tree Restaurant for being my shining light in the increasing gloom of closings and being my shining light in the desert!
My first time there, pleasant atmosphere, family oriented, good food, good service. Only issue was they said they dont take same day reservations when we called ahead. They said they would put us on a waiting list for the time we requested. When we arrived they werent busy & we met our family there no problem at the requested time. I will definitely go back.
We were really excited to try the food after readying all the reviews... But the food we received was pretty horrible. I asked our waitress if she liked something, she said it is really good and I should try it. But when I told her it tasted spoiled and I wasnt a fan, she said most people love it, Ive never tried it though cause I dont eat crab. 😒 soooo yeah... My kids wouldnt eat their food either. My husbands was alright. The appetizer we got was good though. I tried eating the pasta that came with my food but ended up throwing even that up before we could even get home.
The air in this establishment smelled awesome, I was ready to break my diet and indulge in their food.Unfortunately I sat for fifteen minutes ( and they were not really busy) without anyone coming to take my order or offer me refreshments, and they kept walking by as if I didnt exist!Rule #1 to a great restaurant is Service Service Service! It all starts at the door.Unfortunately I cannot rate the quality of their food only the poor hospitality I received. With that being said obviously I found lunch elsewhere!
I was surprised that everything we had was pretty much perfect. Started with calamari, which a lot of places get wrong, but it was crispy and tender. Also had bruschetta and mozzarella sticks which were great too. Entree was chicken parmesan, the pasta was al dente and the chicken perfectly cut and cooked. The service was also outstanding. Was told it was a good place, but wasnt expecting everything to be so good all around.
I ordered to go. The food here was extremely bland. Everything was way over priced and tasted like it was frozen off the shelf.I ordered the Spicy Seafood Combo and asked for it to be extra spicy. Im glad I did, but even that was not spicy at all, I had to add red paper flakes at home and even then the food lacked taste. The dinner rolls looked like Publix store bought rolls with parmesan/garlic sprinkled on top, and they were COLD. I only live 6min from the restaurant and we arrived promptly on time for when our order was to be ready. All of these 5 star reviews reviews make me wander what kind of people are eating here... Clearly those whose palattes are severely lacking. At best, this is a second rate Olive Garden, sorry.
I have been visiting this little restaurant for years. Service is always fast and friendly. The pasta is served piping hot and the garlic rolls are amazing. I recommend the chicken parmigiana or veal marsala. They also offer a greek menu with gyros. Excellent vegetarian options are available, too. The tiramisu is my favorite dessert. For fresh Italian food, Olive Tree offers the best value around.
It had been a minute since I had done here but, last night, I came by for dinner with my cousin. She had not been here in a while either. Neither of us had refrained from coming because of a bad experience. We just both live in the north end of the county so we tend towards Cartersville, Seven Hills, and Acworth. We are soooooo happy we chose to come here. I had forgotten what a pretty space it is and how much ambience it offers. Add to this that last night there was a pianist and the music was so beautiful... And relaxing. Our server was a young woman named Amanda and she was very good. She was attentive, she offered suggestions, she was welcoming and friendly. She was not a hoverer. We ordered a Greek Buschetta appetizer and it was delicious. Our entrees were preceded by the house salad with a house vinaigrette... It was simple, but pleasing and was served with garlic rolls. Our entrées arrived in perfect time. I had the Chicken Marsala it was delicious. The sauce was just enough and the chicken was flavored to perfection by the Marsala. I will order this again. My cousin ordered the Moussaka with a side of Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and tzatziki. Again, spot on. I had a glass of Reserva Chanti and she had a glass of Cavit Pinot Noir. The wine list is not huge, but the offerings were varied and, I think, good. We were offered dessert, but we were lacking the space to indulge. Next time... There will be a next time.
We moved here from San Diego and never had the perfect cuisine dinner that tasted so fresh until now at The Olive Tree. Our waitress Katie took care of our every need and the food was served with the most beautiful display, it almost was a shame to have to eat it. Everything was cooked to perfection, from the Calamari to the pasta and my husband loved the scallops with its tenderness, it was mouth watering. We saved some room to eat the exquisite dessert, the Teramasu, the Baklava and the Chocolate Molten Cake. We would recommend everyone to go to the Olive Tree and enjoy the exquisite tastes for your taste buds.
Always Leave Full and Happy!Their Trio with fried pita bread served with individual cups of garlic hummus, tzatsiki, and roasted red pepper hummus is to die for! I could make a meal out of that alone! My favorite dish is the Eggplant Parmesan but everything Ive ever ordered here has not disappointed. I also love their house dressing The staff is ALWAYS friendly and efficient! Often times the owner will stop by and check on things. Love this place! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
This is good restaurant hidden off the beaten path. The ambiance and service are pleasant and the food is good if more Americanize than most. If you are looking for authentic Italian or Greek food then this may not be the place for you, but if you are looking for well cook and served Italian and Greek influenced food then this is your place. Over all a good place to eat with good service.
Food was great, only problem was with takeout. They package the food in such a manner that it spilled over. Causing it to to spill into the seat. The food was so good decided, we decided to give them another try. It happened again. This was the last time we dined there.
Great Italian and Greek restaurant! My family has been eating here for years. We love the Chicken Parm, Lasagne, and the Fettuccini Alfredo. Their salads are awesome too. I often order whatever the chef has for the special for the night! The Partner/Manager Harry is great. He is always seen talking with the customers. You can tell he cares about his business and his patrons. I have not used their catering services but I have friends who say it is WONDERFUL! If you are in the Hiram area, a visit to Downtown Hiram and the Olive Tree is a MUST!
If your looking for authentic home made Italian/Greek food.. or even just a nice place to have a nice dinner You want to put Olive Tree on your list!! They have the ABSOLUTE BEST bruschetta, humas, and lasagna that I’ve ever had!! They host any event from wedding rehearsals to graduation parties, to proposals and everything in between!! I order my family’s Christmas party dinner from The Olive Tree and my family LOVES it!! I order enough lasagna to feed about 30 people, pick up is a breeze and I’m on my way.. HANDS DOWN the BEST Italian food in Paulding County!!
My wife purchased a Groupon deal and thought she had to print it out. She accidently redeemed the code. The manager could see that it was just purchased yesterday and he wouldnt do anything with it. Now they are going to get the money from Groupon and we are out the money my wife spent on it. I was hoping to find a new favorite restaurant but Ill never go back.
Good food, but they were too busy and short staffed to feed us. Wish they would have offered some incentive to return considering we waited around 20 minutes before they sent us away. We were celebrating a special event with our family of 5 and the Great grandfather.
I typically do not leave reviews but I feel that my experiences the last two times I have gone to the Olive Tree in Hiram need to be documented. If I could give it less than one star I would because against my better judgement I went to the restaurant yesterday to grab something to go. As soon as I walked in the young man behind the podium at the front door looked at me and stared at me for a few moments before finally asking what could he do for me. I stated that I would like to place an order to go and he just looked dumbfounded as if I was speaking a foreign language. After I stood there for about fifteen seconds with nothing but silence a woman came over and told me that the wait time for a to go order was at least and hour to an hour and a half. Now I recognize that wait times can be long, especially when a restaurant is busy but I did not see many customers being served and close to two hours for a pizza seems excessive.Normally I would chalk this up to the place perhaps being short staffed or it being busy but let me explain why I earlier stated against my better judgement About a three weeks ago I went to the same restaurant for dinner (this place is unfortunately the only Italian restaurant close to my house) and was told that the wait for a table was about ten minutes. Nearly half an hour later I was finally sat at a table in the rear of the restaurant in a cramped corner. I sat and I sat and I sat as all of the other tables around me were either being serviced, approached, or at least being acknowledge. After now being in this place for nearly an hour a man who I have to assume is a supervisor walked by me with a confused look on his face. He kindly asked me if I had been seen by anyone and I replied that I had not, that i felt offended and was about to leave. He apologized, asked me to stay and he immediately went to the back and I could hear someone being ordered to come out and help me.I do not want to attribute my poor service on now two occasions to the fact that I am a little browner then the other people who were being served. I detest people who immediately make that leap but it is hard to not have that assumption when all of the other people being diligently served did not look like me.I am saying all of this to say that I will NEVER go back to this restaurant. If anyone asks me about if they should go to this restaurant I will advise them of my experiences and tell them that they should be the judge of if they want to go. I have never been made to feel more uncomfortable or unwelcome in a restaurant and I will NEVER go back and be made to feel that way again. I will much rather drive forty five minutes to a place in either Cobb County or Douglas county that will make me feel welcome than this place here.
- worst food I have had in ages. Gyro plate came with lukewarm meat in a puddle of grease, way too many onions and 2 sliced tomatoes without flat bread and 3 small triangles of pita bread, Taziki sauce was plain yougurt, no cuke flavor, no lettuce with the plate. The Greek potatoes were 2 potato quarters that tasted like it were baked in vinegar, otherwise no flavor and no Greek seasoning. So I asked if they had Gyros with the flat bread, turns out, they sell those for lunch and call them wraps (I thought a Gyro was a Gyro, never thought to ask for a wrap as she advised me to do next time - there wont be a next time) but she took my plate and got me one (that was half the size of the one they sell at ARBYS for $3) - I think they took what was left on my plate to make the gyro wrap (meat was cold) and added Taziki sauce, still, just plain Greek yogurt - nasty! - The grease was set up in it, Oh! And they gave me 5 more quarters of those nasty potatoes. They took $6.50 off the bill but it was still over $10 for my meal - that I ate 4 bites of and only one taste of the god aweful potatoes that tasted soured. I hate trying new places, its a gamble - I heard this place was great - the one over off of Thornton Road used to be good, Hiram Olive Tree not so much. Id give them 1/4 star (so dont be fooled by the 1 star) only because the coke was good, but I never got a refill. Only time I saw the server was when I got her attention to complain. I left hungry and spent $25 (my wife had a plate of spaghetti with marinara sauce, no meat, no meat balls, no cheese - $11.) Never again! What was worse, this was for my wifes birthday, also the place was so loud I could barely hear my wife speak.Heads up people looking for Greek in Hiram - Maybe I just had a bad experience. I mean, I definitely did.
We came here because a friend suggested it and shared the $2.50 Wednesday Martinis secret.... well what can I say.... I wasnt disappointed by far. Of course we had to have a little something to snack to go with our Martinis and tried the Calamari and Greek Bruschetta, bothe were delicious and the perfect addition to our drinks. They have Cosmo, Appletini, Expresso, Lemon Drop, Dirty and Peach Martini, our favorite was the Expresso (which tasted like Baileys melted ice cream) and the Lemon Dop Martini! We sat outside although it was in the 90s, but this European girl definitely enjoyed every moment of it and it made me feel like I was back home.... having some good drinks with snacks while sitting outside for hours, just like we do back home....

2022-05-06I took my wife here for the first time. I think the atmosphere is great and the servers were good. However, the reason for the three stars is that the food was just ok to us. Dont get me wrong, I would recommend trying this restaurant out. Because it was just opening when we got there and things probably were not fully rolling yet. So this was my honest review.

2022-04-10Updated review, previously 4 stars. This last visit was excellent! Service was great. Super friendly staff. Food tasted fresh and on par with cost vs quality. Give them a try! Calimari was tender and tasty. The gyro meat was tender and juicy. The olive tree trio had a melody of dipping sauces that paired well with each other. The Greek dressing was my only complaint, not quite what I imagined.

2022-01-09I have never left a bad review before, as I’m really laid back and easy to please. But this restaurant just really disappointed me. When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly host in a classy atmosphere. I was excited, seated, and then (here’s where it goes downhill) “greeted”- if you could call it that - by our server Rachael. She was not friendly at all, did not introduce herself, and was very standoffish. She acted like she just wanted us to order, eat, and leave. As a previous server, I am always super understanding and kind to restaurant staff, however no matter how friendly I was to her she did not put in any effort to be kind. She just did not fit the atmosphere with her unpleasant attitude. I ended up ordering a chicken Marsala, it was almost $17.00 which is kind of high but for a classy fine dine, I will gladly pay that price. However, when the dish came out, the chicken was EXTREMELY chewy. The sauce and the pasta were amazing, but the chicken was just so chewy with fatty pieces that I had to keep spitting pieces out, or trim the chicken before taking a bite. I really wish this could have been a better experience. I will come back again and hopefully have a better server and better dish. I’m sorry to leave this review but I had to with how disappointed I was…

2022-06-16We recently moved to Dallas and I have been on the hunt for amazing Italian food. We arrived and looked at the menu and they also had Greek which my husband loves. This review is on the Italian and let me tell you, AMAZING flavor for 1 and secondly the portions we were large. The staff extremely nice from the front door to your server. Nice intimate space and would make a great date night spot. Extremely pleased to have discovered The Olive Tree.

2022-05-24Let me get straight to the reason of 5 stars:Outstanding service - If mistakes are made, the corrections have been immediate. I always feel like someone is caring about how my food and experience isGreat food - Food has consistently been yummy to my tummy. Portions are well-sized and I almost always leave with a to-go box.I can tell you many other great things about Olive Tree but honestly those are just 2 of the main reasons I enjoy this place. They make you feel comfortable and welcome.

2021-12-03I love the Italian and Greek food at this restaurant! They had vegetarian options and I got to choose the pasta I wanted with my entree. I was surprised that a salad and bread was provided. For my appetizer I had the Spanakopita. It was flaky on the outside and filled with spinach and feta. I had the eggplant parmesan with ziti pasta for my entree. The eggplant was very tasty! It was thinly sliced and was crispy! I was so glad that I had enough for a second meal.

2022-05-27My father was an Italian Chef. I am always excited to try new Italian places and I attempt to be open minded on others cooking as I know I am bias towards my dads but also for valid reason. It’s all about the food for Italians. I could say that the place itself was nice, simple and comfortable. The service was friendly. None of that matters in an Italian restaurant. It’s about the food. I am sorry to report that I can’t say many good things about any of the dishes served to our table of ten. Lack luster performance. Recipes need to be evaluated and the ingredients and preparation needs to change. It’s just not great Italian. Unless you have no idea what great Italian food is, you might not know the difference. Put some heart into it. It’s also mandatory. Can’t just be the owner, has to be the chef.
