Great community and a great location in Johns Creek. We are right beside a Target, Publix Panera and so much more! The community is filled with lots of trees which makes it feel more homey. Jessica, Adriana and Ben are amazing at the front office. Always eager to help and always have a great attitude. The maintenance team Rachid, George, and Paule are amazing. They are quick to help you out with any work order you put in and they have great customer service!
This place use to be great but it has gone way down. First of all, the landscaping and overall cleanliness of the property is poor. The gate is always broken, the fitness center seems to be closed all the time, its never a surprise to wake up and and the valet trash people never came and there is always some abandoned couch or other furniture on the sidewalks or in the parking lot. They made us stop using the mailboxes (for whatever reason) and now hold all mail in the office but when you go to pickup your mail if you dont check it every three days, they will send your mail back to the post office. People in the office dont help you at all. I went in to see if i can get a better rate on my lease renewal, because $1890/month for one of these two bedroom apartments is robbery but the young lady didnt help at all and just told me she couldn;t do anything about it and didnt point me to anyone who could. . I have an apartment with zero upgrades, the light switches are old, the door handles are old, and dont even get me started on the patio door. These apartments are not good enough for the area. I will not be staying here again and i would not recommend staying here until management steps up and cater to the tenants who pay on time, have no noise complaints and follow all rules. Try Avonlea on the river.
The name is not a retreat in itself. We are new to the area and have had trouble ever since. The apartment was not complete when we moved in. From day of move in, while moving in paint was splattered in front of our door by staff, which was very peculiar. Many small attention details were overlooked. Cabinet handles were missing in the kitchen. Water pressure was really low, request to seal up space near sink where countertop is, and the list continues, and this was all in the first few days. Apartment was not clean. Noticed dried up food, cabinets still smelling of previous tenants spices. There are roaches (which I am allergic to) IN THE APARTMENT! Pest control supposedly comes in weekly, however this is still an ongoing concern. The neighbors stomp on the floor which is distracting and annoying with these very thin floors, with no shock absorption. The master tub creeks when showering as it appears to just be a form fitting over top. Bathroom toilet sits so low, so get use to doing squats daily. There are many neighbors who walk out in front of moving cars as well, so be careful driving. In addition there is limited lighting walking through pathways at night so if you arent careful, you might run into the community stray cats that lay out in pathways like they pay rent. The valet trash fee that you pay for is for one small trash can and when you move in, they do not take out boxes at all. The gym area/community room is nicest thing. There are many things to improve apartment wise, I could go on. I will say apartment leasing staff, specifically Ben has been helpful making attempts to correct issues. Overall, I dont recommend. Read all reviews and take heed before signing as I should have
Called Retreat at Johns Creek home for a little over a year. Second week in to the renovated unit my ceiling in the laundry room starts pouring water (Fire sprinkler system busted. Never got told the system was functional again). They cut a whole in the ceiling where the water was spewing and and placed a plastic bag over the area. It remained like that till I vacated. Within two months the ceiling starts dripping again. This time it travels around the fireplace and causes damage to the ceiling because the leak continues for a couple more weeks. Skipping to the end, unit needed constant maintenance (some of which never got resolved), amenities and front gates not always operational, walls super thin and complaints are hardly carried through. In the end had to pay essentially another months rent for repair to the unit when it was hardly repaired upon the start. Lots of paint. Great location. Interesting management and it goes all the way to corporate. Sorry.
My wife and I have lived at The Retreat for 2 years. While we recently bought a house and are moving out, weve enjoyed the Retreat and have had no major issues. The staff is great - especially Nicole, who has been super helpful to us since the very first day. Maintenance always responds quickly, and management has made updates to the dog park and playground since weve been here - we dont have a need for these features, but they definitely add to the property. The grounds are kept clean and 80% of our neighbors have been great. Would recommend The Retreat to anyone who is looking for an apartment in the Johns Creek area.
I love the retreat! My apartment is absolutely beautiful, the community is family oriented and friendly. I’m able to visit the pool with my family comfortably. Any issues are quickly resolved. Maintenance workers are pleasant and helpful. However we do miss Ms. Michelle, she took the time to get to know the residents and keep us happy.
I have a complaint with this residential complex, first I applied to an apartment they took 345 dollars from me and the two days they write to me that that apartment is NOT available that they can give me another exactly the number 1214 on the first floor for August 24, at 1850 $ , that I had already passed all the requirements that I apologize and that I have that apartment. Then I receive a welcome email that I was accepted and two days later I receive that I was NOT accepted after Adriana and Benjamin had assured me that everything was correct. They started asking me for more papers and telling me that I was NOT accepted. They NEVER had the apartment and they are thieves, they kept my application money and fees and they never had the apartment, they always lied to me. Do not fill out applications in this set, they steal your money and they never have the apartment available, they never answer emails, or answer phone calls. Besides they lie to you. I went to tell them to refund my money and that day they told me NO because I had already assigned apartment 1214. They are thieves and they took my money without giving me the apartment, I will go to the last consequences to receive my refund and report them before the authorities.
The leasing agents and receptionists were amazing, accommodating, and transparent throughout the whole process. The client services manager, Love, truly worked hard to process my out of state move over the holiday. She went above and beyond any expectations. The apartments are BEAUTIFUL with high quality upgrades. Phenomenal experience! I am excited to call the Retreat my family’s new home! I will update with photos and more comments as I begin to enjoy my space ^_^
Everything is good and it is what I expected - The rent is reasonable and affordable - The apartment is new - the appliances are new and in good condition - my spouse is really like the kitchen because it is spacious.By the way, I want to suggest that it will be great if it can be improved the hallway to access to aparment more brighter and cleaner so that it can have a good first sight. Anyway, it is not a big deal.
Only because I must give a star. Not sure where to begin with this crooked place but I have had issue after issue each month.Roaches first of all.No presence in the office to address issuesRent goes up each month.I take pics of my trash I sit out every night and Email to these crooks. The response when I go in the office is nothing g we can do..Words can not describe the foolishness that goes on.
This is a very quiet community and a great place for families. One of the first things we did while looking for a great place was research the schools in the area. When we saw that the area schools all had a grade of A, according to greatschools.org, it made us that much more excited. And what put the icing on the cake is the courteous and professional staff that I will gladly say is an added bonus which makes it a joy to be a part of this community. Not to mention the excellent maintenance staff that resolves unforeseen issues in a very timely fashion. The Retreat @ Johns Creek is within walking distance to popular stores, restaurants, and entertainment. Its an awesome place to call home.
Update review: We have been living here for a little over a year and we still love the area in which this complex is located and the price of rent. When our lease was up last month, we transferred to a different unit for a bigger space. The transition was really simple and the office staff, Michelle and Nicole were really helpful with letting us know everything we needed to get done as far as paperwork and moving out of our first unit. In the past year or so, we’ve only had to put in a couple maintenance orders and I would say the turn around time is 1-2 hours. We don’t have a pet anymore but they have added a lot to the dog park! I would still highly recommend this community!Long overdue review. I know how critical reviews can be when looking for a new place. We moved here in January and needed to move in ASAP. They arranged a Saturday move - in for our satisfaction. We had our dog with us who loved the dog park since I was able to let him off the leash. The neighborhood is really nice, we have easy access to everyday stores. I personally really like that there is only one way in and out of the complex. Safety was one of my biggest concern. It can get loud sometimes with children playing around the playground, but chances are that there are children at other apartment complexes as well. I am a current resident who truly enjoys being in this community. The front office staff is super friendly and responsive to any questions/concerns. A few work orders have been needed but they usually come fix them within a couple hours. The community center is open 24/7 which is nice. The units are very clean and pretty to the eyes! I would definitely say that if you are looking for a new place, this is it!! I looked at many other apartments but nothing comes to close to this price for all the amenities that I was looking for!
My wife was in the office trying to talk to the people in the office. The people taking care of the office was rude and made fun of my wife for not being able to speak English very well, so we had to talk to someone else and talked about how the people were rude and discriminating my wife, so they got fired. There are lots of cockroaches in the apartment...... I killed like 20 of them over an year. I moved out and tried to talk to the manager about a statement problems. The manager said I do not want to speak with you and only can talk with the lawyers. This made me think about my wife and how they treated my wife badly, this means a lot to my family and how i feel very very disappointed in this place. The name is retreat and i really wanted to retreat to Avonlea.... This place has the right name for the right place...
My family and I are looking for three bedrooms to move into before September. I have made three appointments within three consecutive weeks. Each time I have gone apparently we are, “ Not in the system.” That is a complete lie if you ask me. Each time I have made an appointment I have spoken to a female and a male. If you don’t want my business just say that….
My experience so far is terrible. The apartment wasn’t ready. It was dirty, infested with bugs, patio door, tubs filthy, broken, and AC wasn’t working properly. They didn’t complete everything till 25 days later. They also said I get compensation, but at time for first month rent was due. They said I shouldn’t took the keys. Therefore taking keys I accepted apartment how it was. Terrible!!
The Retreat at Johns Creek is a beautiful , family friendly community. There are lots of kids in this complex. The manager Tristan has been very professional and is always willing to help residents. She is not your typical manager that just sits behind her desk. She really works at making the property a place people would want to live. However, I wish some of the residents would take more pride in keeping their front porches and balconies clean. Tristan is always kind and authentic which I can’t say about all the staff. Overall a good place to live. The apartments are beautiful and spacious inside.
Great location! The Leasing staff is extremely friendly and willing to help the residents any way they can. Safe neighborhood although many people walk the neighborhood in the parking area due to lack of sidewalks, therefore you must drive slowly and watch for pedestrians (both children and adults)All in all, the residents, maintenance staff, and leasing staff all make this a great place to live. Amenities are in well working order and they maintain the gym and courts well.
This is a wonderful community with an amazing location. The grounds are beautiful with lots of beautiful trees and landscaping. Its hard to believe you can be so conveniently located yet have such peaceful surroundings! I love our newly renovated apartment, there is plenty of space with large walk in closets. It is a super family friendly community and also pet friendly. A couple of small maintenance requests were handled in short order. The staff and maintenance crew have been super friendly and helpful. My family has really enjoyed living here, highly recommend!
Im a brand new resident and the staff here have been nothing but pleasant and accommodating. They made moving in and leaving easy. But whats earned them 5 stars from me was the maintenance issue I had this past Friday April 12th. I came home from work to see my toilet overflowing with water, it was all over the bathroom and had even seeped into the carpet in the bedroom. I went to the leasing office and notified the staff, they had someone out within a half hour and the issue was resolved (as best it could be) before 7 that evening. Very impressed so far.
It is a complex where the staff of the office always has the answer you can not. The assistants tell you one thing and when you ask again the manager says another. The pictures they show on Google are not real because the common areas such as the pool and the childrens playground are in very bad condition. The area of the barbecue is without lighting at night and if you light one of the grills a lot of cockroaches. If you want to live here, you must request that they show you the stairway where you will live since the green areas of the last buildings are super neglected, as is the painting. I recommend this because in my case when I did the Tour for the complex the girl showed me only the beautiful, the courts, the Gym, the first buildings but then when I moved there was another reality. The childrens park is disgusting. All old and rusty. And you pay a garbage collection service at the door of your apartment which is very expensive and super expensive. They live leaving the garbage in the door even when it is removed at the indicated time and then the office says that you left the garbage all night there. The construction of the apartment is so bad that if you have a sensitive neighbor you can not walk because It feels too noisy In short the complex to be in Johns Creek is a total disaster it seems that one is in the worst area which is not so. Its a shame because the apartments inside are nice and cozy but the management of Retreat is terrible.
Easy process to complete everything before moving in! I’m always trying to be ahead of things so I feel like I definitely made it easier on the leasing agent! Just moved it yesterday walk through was a breeze. Everything like we were told we were getting! Excited to see how the year goes!
Great floorplans! Awesome property-management team. This place has a real sense of community. Lots of families strolling on foot at night. I really love this place! Nature is so close by! Don’t bother with the neighboring property, because they haven’t learned enough about The Retreat in order to compete.
Nice community and reasonable rent compared to other nearby communities. It’s been a month I moved to here. Even I did not see the apartment when I was applied to rent (But saw the other apt in the same community) but before move-in I did check the apartment with front desk people guidance. My family is also feeling happy to live here. I referred to my colleague; he liked it and moved already. Now I am referring to another colleague. I liked the facilities Gym and Play area and community people are very interactive. Happy to live here.
This was one of my favorite places to live in Atlanta. I loved living here. I would have renewed my lease had I not bought a house. These apartments are more like homes on the inside. They did an excellent job with renovation upgrades. My favorite part of the apartment was the kitchen. Matter of fact, I loved it so much that I chose the same colors for my house.Like any apartment you must keep an apartment clean and have the leasing office spray at least once a month for bugs. No matter where you stay, in the south, there are going to be bugs; so preventative measures are important. If you schedule your apartment for spray then you wont have an issue. The amenities at the Retreat are very nice. I used the gym and business center all the time. The only thing I would suggest is that the bathrooms get renovated. They are very much so outdated.Maintenance was terrific. Normally request were fulfilled same day and some cases two days at the most. Why bother the office with request? All request can be submitted online or email. I have read some reviews with people having communication issues. I never had a problem, but for the best possible communication with the leasing office send an email. The leasing office staff is awesome. Every manager that I have ever worked with is great. They have had three since I have been there. They have all been very helpful. Shana is great and is on top of her business. Laura is awesome and sweet. Remember this is a very big apartment company and these folk work hard, but miss nothing. Patience and kindness will win you all kinds of rewards.During my acquiring process of my home loan, the leasing office allowed me to use their fax machine several times. I want to thank all of the staff for my constant bombardment to use resources to help me close on my loan. Before closing day on my house, I had 30 days left in my lease. Giving prior notice to the leasing office, they found someone to occupy my apartment. I was blessed to get a refunded for prepaid rent and my deposit. In summation, I would not could not have chosen a better place to live before closing on my house. From the leasing office, to the apartment, to the amenities, safe location, and neighbors I made a great decision. I will certainly miss the hugs and free coffee from the leasing office.
Moved a week back as a 4 member family.. 20 year old property renovated few years back. Great location, Great school and we knew what were getting for the price. Liked the overall layout (especially the kitchen).. Initial maintenance requests were done the same day. Happy residents so far!
Noooo………………….My experience started with Good (still living here for 24 months). I do not know what changed recently. My lease came for a renewal on Jul 2018. I got an offer 12 months 14$$ and 14 months 13$$. I spoke to leasing office and made a decision to extend for 14 months @ 13$$. I and Property management/ Leasing agent agreed, SIGNED ONLINE LEASE FOR 14 MONTHS @ 13$$. After 2 months NOW, they are coming and saying I need to pay 14$$. I asked for the reason. They are saying apologies and someone or leasing agent mistyped the number. How it can be mistyped in my lease offer email and lease contract document. On top of it How the property manager can sign without reviewing what is there. Now they are asking me to change my lease for 12 months for an increased price because of their own issues/Mistakes.My Question is why a resident should have impact for your mistakesNote: I had a better plan to change my place. Because of the 14 months lease offer 13$$ only. I changed my mind to live here.Property Management Kind attention, if such experiences continue resident may not prefer to live here……
Anyone planning on moving here do not move in. Property is under new office staff and everything has change I have not had an issue before but ever since the new staff started it has been an nightmare. My A/C has been broken now for over a year. I have call in several times and nothing has gotten fix. One point one of the technician on call told me to open my window when the temperature inside my unit was 85 degrees. And that he was not coming out the night. They install an window unit and they expect that to could off the whole apartment. I call in for another one and yet they couldn’t even help me by giving me another. They respond was that I will be ok till the next day. And that was 3 weeks ago.
The staff have always been very kind and helpful at the office. The tennis court, the pool, the pool grills and the game room is very nice. Some of The gym equipment could be fixed or just replaced. If theres a maintenance issue or a problem it is normally taken care of pretty quick. The monthly rent is a little high but I suppose it is the area I am paying for.. I do wish they would go back to not charging you a fee to pay rent online.. they used to not charge anything the first year I moved there. I also wish they wouldnt make you pay for cable if you choose not to even have it.. (included in your rent bill)
FRAUD!!!!! Stay away from this appratment. Worst management in recent years!!!! You will be asked to vacate anytime!!!!!!!!Im a resident of this community since 2017 and now Im going to be literally dont have a home in two weeks. I had applied for the transfer three month in adavance and they are rejecting the transfer just two weeks before the move in. As my current lease got over last week I dont have any other option. There are no proper response provided and I dont have any other option other than leaving this community within two weeks!!!.The only reason Im seeing here is I booked the transfer for less amount when the prices are low due to COVID. Now to avoid the lesser rent amount they are playing these hard games. The same thing happened with two of my friends at this community with in last 30days.
If I could give this apartment complex a negative rating I would. The area is quiet, but the management and building is pretty much a nightmare. Even with the management change from Camden to Retreat, we have experienced the same bad attitudes. Every time myself or my boyfriend have an issue with the apartment like pest control, stay animals, noisy neighbors, or anything of the like we have been met with a its not our problem type of attitude.Management was changed literally in the middle of the day one week and no residents were informed until after it happened. I pulled into the apartment complex to find new signs and a small letter stuck in the door informing me of the changes. We live on the bottom floor and are infested with spiders every spring/summer. We called for an exterminator twice before we just bit the bullet and sprayed for them ourselves. The spiders can be attributed to the huge gap under our front door, which anything could fit under. Often when they clean the breeze way, they blow a large amount of dirt/debris right into our kitchen. Both our hot water heater and our two upstairs neighbors have all busted/broken at some point in time during our lease. Our apartment has been flooded on 3 separate occasions. As a result, we have called people to come treat the ceilings/floors for mold and had a guy come by with a bottle of bleach and a can of paint. Recently management had a plumber come into all apartments to look at plumbing and now our water pressure is half of what it use to be.I cannot tell you how many times I have not received a package or an important piece mail at this address. Several important documents and packages have mysteriously never made it to their destination here. Christmas was pretty much a nightmare for us.The gym is okay in terms of equipment, but if you expect to have a pleasant work out experience, think again. I visit the gym 2-3 times a week and 99% of the time am greeted with several children climbing all over the equipment and running around between machines. Stay at home mothers bring them in with them and let them run free while they are on the treadmill. Children also have a very bad habit of just walking/running out in front of cars while their parents just watch.I cannot stress to you how terrible this place is. Dont do it. I am stuck in a 15 month lease and cannot wait to get out of here. To break the lease is approx $2000. I will admit most of these issue occurred during Camden management but, the issues I have had under Retreat have been treated no differently.
Living at Retreat at Johns creek has gone from bad to pathetic. The community is full of roaches. Most of the apartments are a Roach house. I atleast know 20-30 families here. There are roaches in kitchen , atleast 50s of them every morning when i wake up. Roaches have started appearing on the bed into the blankets. There are roaches on the wall where I sit for my work daily. There isnt a place where roaches arent there. I have been doing pest control for more than 3-4 months now which has not helped at all. The leasing office has no idea how to handle this. The leasing office has no communication at all with the pest control guy and the pest control guy has no idea which flat what treatment needs to be done. I am done with this now and frustrated as I have never been.
I totally agree with Anna! I have lived here for 3 years in 4 different units. She was pretty spot on with everything. Honestly, the communication in the office is horrible especially when it is between office, management, and maintenance. None of the staff ever know anything and they treat you like you are a burden. I also think it is wrong that they are upgrading apartments without fixing the existing issues. Also, with my most recent transfer, my apartment was not move in ready (had this problem with Camden but they fixed everything immediately), so Scott the manager took down a long list of things that needed to be fixed and made a work order with promises that it would be taken care of. Well, that work order was closed when none of the things were fixed. I have to keep reminding maintenance every time they are in my apartment about what is next on the to fix list. 3-4 months later and I am still waiting. When Andre, the maintenance supervisor, is notified of things that arent taken care of, he actually gets them done. Maintenance isnt the issue, its whoever is overloading them with renovations AND regular work orders. I honestly cant wait until our lease is up. Camden was not pleasant but at least for the most part, you knew what to expect, which was at least something to be done to fix the issue or getting a clear answer. Pegasus just gives excuses and blows off their residents.
I’m going into my 3rd year at Retreat At Johns Creek. This is my first apartment rental. I was very skeptical in the beginning. Thinking walls might be too thin, parking problems, just the thought of neighbors living to close. My first year I had problems with my air conditioning unit. The previous management had a thorough investigation down on my unit. Found the problem and reimbursed me for the absorbent cost. The following year management changed and I met Shanna the new office manager. I thought the transition of new management would have flaws. I want it to be known that Shanna far exceeds all me expectations. I watch her bend over backwards for irate tenants when she didn’t have to. Some tenants say she’s mean and impossible to get along with. I know for a fact that’s not true. Shanna believes rules are in place for a reason and readily enforces them on a regular basis. My apartment is pretty much sound proof from neighbors. Shanna arranged to have a handicap sign place in front of my building the same day I reported not having one. Shanna had the air conditioning specialist come out and fixed my a/c. They spent 4 days tracing the problems. Any call for maintenance has been handled expeditiously. If I can’t get maintenance right away I get a phone call from the office explaining why, and to check to make sure I’m ok. This is a great place to live and with Shanna overseeing this property I feel confident that my money is well spent. People don’t like people who abide by and enforce rules. I love the fact that rules are maintained on this property. If my apartment was a condo that could be purchased I would definitely consider it. I’m a very happy tenant and would not hesitate to refer anyone looking for an apartment. FYI, I just had a problem with my towel rack in my bathroom and the maintenance team came by while I was in the shower so I asked them to come back later. I saw Shanna on the grounds and mentioned that I asked maintenance to come back later because they came sooner than I expected and she said I’m sure they will get back to you. To my surprise they had came and gone while I was out and left a letter of work completion. Again far exceeding my expectations.Thank you Shanna for running a tight ship you make It sail a light smoother.
Ive only been here less than a month and I already want to move. First, if you dont have any children this place isnt for you. The children here are loud, bad, disrespectful and they run this complex like Lord of the Flies -- completely. They need to rename this place to The Day Care at Johns Creek... cause its nothing like a Retreat and thats very misleading. The adults in this community are equally weird. Theyre impolite, rude and stare at you instead of saying good morning or even hello. Instead of using the gym, they walk in the complex -- which wouldnt be a big deal if they didnt walk in the middle of the road, very slowly (think: Walking Dead Zombies... Season 1) and they barely move for cars. And of course... they allow their children to do the same.Like most complexes they show you the model and its lovely... but the actual unit we received, although its a different floor plan appears to be a handicap unit and this was NEVER disclosed to us. In fact when I asked to see the unit, I was told it wasnt ready and was lead to believe that tenants were still living there. In talking with the front desk after our move-in, the unit was actually vacant for 3-months (which explains the dusty feel). We would have NEVER rented this unit if I was actually allowed to see it (and I probably would have learned then that the upstairs neighbors were loud). Our upstairs neighbors must have a million children or an earthquake machine -- cause thats what it sounds like every ungodly hour, every day, rain or shine, when we have to listen to one of them play their instruments super early in the morning or late at night or when theres running and stomping across the floor. Did I mention that these actions take place daily and nightly. To put it quite bluntly, I absolutely hate it here and well be moving when the lease is up OR well have to bite the bullet and break the lease. If youre looking at this complex, look at it after 5 pm and ask to see the playground area/ parking lot.Outside of all this, the animals are quite peaceful... more so than the humans.ALSO: They make you pay $55 a month for Basic Cable... thats a total rip off...
Manger doesnt ever follow up with phone calls or anything and is extremely rude, there has been an abandoned car in the parking lot in front of my building with rocks wedged under its front tires since I have moved here (almost 8 months ago) regardless to the countless times Ive called, Ive had to call 6 times about a mold/ roach, silverfish issue before getting a call back saying I was put in a queue (it took 2 weeks after that call for someone to come). Noise complaints are ignored, people come speeding in through the gates at all hours of the night. The gate to the community is left open half the time. The walls are paper thin as well as the floors, at times Im able to hear the people above me conversations. The worst thing is that the apartments are awful! They are super cheap, the paint job is awful, the cabinets ARE NOT NEW!!! They are just painted over! Also, if you plan to use the cyber cafe think again, at least 5 or 6 nights a week people are having birthday partys in their and you cant use the space at all! Its supposed to be a work space! I recommend you look somewhere else if you are thinking of renting, anywhere is better then here!**Update: Turns out the owner of the car moved out about 2 months before I moved it and decided to just leave their vehicle. real luxury living huh? Last but not least, when it comes time to check fire alarms make sure to do your top lock!, maintenance workers practically break in your front door to check the smoke alarms, I had someone come into my apartment when I was at work and I had to rush home because my alarm went off, and I ended up finding people testing smoke alarm?, They were standing on my kitchen table chairs that they dragged into other rooms and I was forced to kick them out!You would be better off living in a card board box then living here, at least then you wont have any bugs!!!
Just a decent place to live, I lived here from February 2017 to march 2018. The rent isnt that bad, management is pretty nice, and close to target, shopping, Wilson creek school, etc. The maintenance people are not too reliable, one time my toilet had issue... they came 1 week later, and there have been some boxes in the way, so thats why my rating isnt higher. The pros are that there is a lot of kids your kids can play with and there is a basketball area. Theres many community events and a large Chinese community , Indian community , and some Vietnamese families. 3/5 overall
You think Johns Creek you think class, NOT HERE AT THE RETREAT! _ I didnt think the reviews were that true, well they are, every last one that wants to put a zero instead of 1 star b/c there is not a zero; especially regarding the office staff! Especially the one named Laura - they need to get rid of her! or have her take a Customer Service extensive training! All the reviews about them are true! Location is awesome, schools are awesome but the leasing staff are rude and condescending, if you question them they get even more rude; for example, ask Laura when do they spray for bugs, her respond rather than answer, it was in your welcome packet, didnt you read it? Really! I asked a question just answer it. Talk about first move in experience, I am traumatized, never in my life have I lived in a place that is not ready, but its not so much about it not being ready as it is how they handle minor stuff which makes me nervous how will they handle major stuff. You have to wait for minor repairs for up to a month and constantly send in work request and call and it still doesnt get done. They tell you things that are not the whole truth. Cable - its basic TV it is not cable in the sense you get a nice box with On Demand, its basic TV and they want $55 a month. Move in _ expect to do so the next day, they dont let you move in until after 2:30PM and they want a whole days rent! You cant sign paperwork or the lease on a Sat or Sun you must handle it all on a weekday. Have issues or things that need to be fixed, dont move in, make them fix them or they will never get done. Try to complain they all get on a band wagon and ostracize you and are so disrespectful, they are like passive-aggressive bullies!, the more you inquire the more they make you wait! Ridiculous and childish. The amount I pay for rent I could rent a nice townhouse with a club house. I am sad, very sad I moved here, I am not happy, dont do it, think twice, find something else. I know its hard b/c the area is great, Retreat at Johns Creek is all appearances but lacks substance. Dont do it unless you feel like being treated like a low life!!!! I regret my choice but I made it and I cant transfer my kids again to another school. The city of Johns Creek should be ashamed that the Retreat has Johns Creek associated with it, they try to use the Johns Creek name and area to represent class when all they are doing is treating their residents less than. There customer service is condescending and act like they are doing you a favor, I am a resident I chose to live here, treat me with the some respect! and act like I matter as a resident! My rent pays your salary - act like it matters!!! The area is nice, the complex is really nice, maintenance does a great job keeping up appearances, but the front line staff, or should I say Laura, needs to stop sitting at her desk and get up and treat the residents like they matter, her condescending tone is the worse and stop talking to people as though their idiots, she needs an extensive class on Customer Service and how to be a welcoming and accommodating leasing agent, at least! considering she is the Assistant Manager. And as for the management that reads this, no you will not find my email address associated with your list of residents b/c I am literally afraid of the repercussions of this email b/c like I said, you office staff as in management are passive aggressive bullies!
Surprised to see so many negative comments about pest control. I have had no problems with insects or roaches or bedbugs. My apartment is on the third floor though. The staff is super friendly and the maintenance is spot on. They come the same or the next day and are very professional. The apartments are open and big, especially for my one bedroom. There is valet trash and recycling at the front of the complex as well as access to The Chattahoochee River. All in all, no complaints.
Apartments were not too big nor new. But, they were so comfortable and just right for us with two kids. And these are very conveniently located yet they were calm and absolutely residential. Only problem we were facing was cockroach problem. Management were taking care of all those things.
While the community is very nice and clean (1 star for that), the service department is very unprofessional and irresponsible. They gave the keys of my apartment to a third party carpet cleaner who got into my apartment and set off the alarm. I called the leasing office several times and no one answered. I had to leave work in the middle of the day (I have a very busy schedule), rush home to find an unknown person inside. Apparently, the carpet cleaner was supposed to go to a different unit. While, sending the cleaner to the wrong apt may be a mistake, giving the keys to a third party individual and allowing him to be in the apartment all by himself clearly shows how irresponsible the management is.Now I have to call the security company to change my alarm security key and may also be fined for false alarms.
I had a wonderful experience living at the retreat. Nicole up at the front is TERRIFIC! So is Lori and Alysia. They are all extremely attentive, and will meet your every need and answer any and all questions. I had no problems living here, it was super easy, clean, overall had a great experience!!!! I highly recommend living here!!!
DO NOT MOVE HERE! if anyone here on here is giving positive reviews its because its the apartment wrting the reviews not the tennanta. Since I been here I had a flood which I learned from the people next door its a reoccurring issue. I have spiders, worms, silver fish, and roaches! Management is nice but that is it. They minimize your complaints and what solutions they offer are bandaide solutions you will still have the same problem in a few weeks, but worse.. People love here because of the schools district other than that everyone would leave. Its disgusting. $1500 a montb and the quality of living is equivalent to living in a condemned building. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
I have lived at the Retreat at Johns Creek for several years. I can not say that I have not had complaints with the management, however I can say that they have always tried to work with me. The Retreat Management try to be as helpful as they can, but they too have limitations. They do explain why if they can not heed my requests. This is something I like!!!The only problem I have is with the residents of the community with kids who are allowed to run around without any supervision and disrespect rules of the community. I myself have kids. Rules are RulesThe only advise I have for the management is that they need to enforce their rules and let the impact fall on the respected party. not on the whole community.
Overall average experience. Since at the time of leasing they asked to pay half month payment as risk fee which is non nonrefundable why they charged it dont know no one from other society paying it. I have asked multiple times to provide justification and valid proof as an documents to charge it but no one provided. I will be more happy if they think on that or else refund paid amount once I finish my contract.Another thing is cabel TV charges is compulsory to everyone even if you dont want to see it. instead of that they can start Wifi connection and charge it which is worth it.
We moved into these renovated apartments few days back. I must say that the management worked really hard to promise their word. Though everything wasnt at its best, management worked to ensure everything was completed in the apartment. The apartment is in a great location.
I wish I could give this place a 0 because trust me I would. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Shayna the manager is an absolutely terrible person and treats residents guests badly. She needs to take a course or two on how to respect people and give them good customer service. If you want to move into a complex that treats you badly, your AC hasnt worked for over a month and a half, and is infested with bugs then move here. Oh and not to mention that when you actually move in they might change your move in day on you once or twice and will only give you a 48 hour notice before they actually do so. Youll walk in to find the manager at your apartment for no reason. Save yourself the time and effort and move somewhere where you will be treated with respect and wont have to fight to get your AC working and bugs out of your apartment. Pool is always closed and they never have the AC on at the gym. Dont be fooled by the looks of the crappy complex.
I just hate this community from last 1 year under retreat management. I was with this community since 2010 and moved between apartments in the same community during the years, as i was really happy with the staff and service there.I feel Camden staff are much polite than these Retreat Staff. It was never a smooth transition when Retreat took over this community from Camden since 2015.1. First opinion, initially I had hard time with office staff as they were so rude and but they got little better than the worst after a while.2. Had other issues like never got paid my referral bonus which i did during their transition time.Neither Camden nor retreat paid a referrel for me, they both played a blame game during the transition.3. My stay came to an end in Retreat in Dec 2015.I always wanted to end up my stay here with good memories but Retreat gave me a tuff time in last 3 months while settling down the bills. Here is my bitter experience,I had to sublease this apartment due to my relocation and Retreat agreed for this when i said i will have one of my friends to sublease my apartment for the rest of my lease period and they will extend from there on. I found a friend who agreed to sublease and extend for long term but Retreat asked me to pay partial amount for those days of the month when i stayed in this apartment. All of us me,my friend and Retreat agreed to it. After few days, Retreat called me up saying they would like to end my lease instead of subleasing so that they can renovate and handover the apartment to my friend. We all agreed to that again and i paid my dues(rent for those days i lived there in that month, water, trash and service charges) which i received from Retreat and moved out by Dec11th.But for my surprise after few days,I received an email from Retreat saying i owe around $800 to them because of the following reasons,1) The owner of the apartment cannot bear the loss of rent for those days where the 10days renovation will happen. So they said i will have to pay the rent for these days of renovation. This sounded really so cheap to me because i am no where responsible for the Renovations that Retreat is doing. If this was informed to me earlier i would not not agreed to end the lease instead of subleasing.2) There were removable radium stars to the roof which we forgot to remove while moving out. They charged us $100 to remove those stars saying it peeled off paint so the vendor need to repaint and has to rework which sounded totally insane to me as they anyway will repaint the house as a part of renovation.I got these radium stickers for kid to sleep at night seeing the stars on roof. I got these from Walmart which is paint protected. Retreat people never agreed on this.3) Another charge came up for 150$ for fosset in restroom which is rusted or corroded. Camden had handoff initially with such small things and they agreed that they will not charge us for these while we lease out, but retreat never trusted us when we said this and never contacted Camden to check back to know the condition of the apartment when Camden handed over this apartment to us.I gave up today ending up paying all the amount Retreat stated as my concerns were never heard even after reaching to the regional manager and i dont want to waste my precious time anymore with these people.I felt customer satisfaction was never a important thing to Retreat management, they just looked out for money.I would not recommend this community anymore. So people who are currently living here, please be very careful.Very unhappy to end this way despite I had very good time staying in this community under Camden management.Sorry Retreat, the change has to start someday and somewhere.Good luck !!
Comparing to other places I believe retreat needs to be improved on various things.1. Maintaining the club area. I dont see regular cleaning and water change in the pool.2. Gym area is not having all workout instruments.3. I can see roads are not getting cleaned on regular basis and not even common places in the building.4. Sometimes response time for any work order complaint is high.5. We dont have any CCTV cameras in common places to track unusual activities.6.Rent Rates are high as compared to other residential areas and the facilities they provide.7. Some residential places provide a carpet cleaning facility once a year but we dont have it here.8. I cannot switch to another internet provider as we need to stick with Xinfinity.
The residents have been asking to fix the tennis courts for many months now. The net is broken, cracks everywhere and the lights are not working. When asked they says they wont get contractors, as if there are none in greater Atlanta. If its a month or two I can understand but looks like management dont want to fix it.10/02/2020 - The tennis court lights are still not fixed after 11 months, rather management dont want residents use tennis courts because they cant fix it.
In the beginning my leasing experience was great but mid-way through my lease everything that could go wrong went wrong! Its not enough space for me to write my horrific encounter with The Retreat at Johns Creek, but let me warn anyone that is thinking about moving I to this property to think twice. My clothes and shoes and jewelry were ruined due to a gas leak in which Shawnna (community manager) knew prior to placing me and my family. Upon bringing several complaints to her and without anything being done about the situation, I had to take matters into my own hands and notify the Gas company. Needless to say upon the gas company turning off the gas for the entire building, the maintenance supervisor instructed his worker on call to turn the gas back on; but to leave my off. Once again, Shawnna stated she didnt know about the situation regarding the gas smell and leak but she lied because she initially informed me of the gas smell upon moving in but would go away due to a hot water heater being installed! Now, Im with out clothes or shoes or jewelry and when I asked Shawnna if my rent could be waived for that month so that I could meet my renters insurance deductible, she said she would contact corporate/ regional manager and would let me know but in the interim of all of this, I was fined with late fees for rent plus court costs of filing demand for rent. So, at the end of this ordeal I am out of over $3000 for this place that is an embarrassment to Johns Creek as living quarters! Save your money, sanity and self from this place, dont move here! Run and keep running!!!
I lived here for a few months and this was the worst experience I have every had. I would highly recommend looking at other places. My AC broke and management refused to fix it. I had to call the corporate office over ten times to get them to finally let me move out without a penalty. Thank you soon much for letting me move out, I am finally able to get some rest from this horrific nightmare!!!!Also noticed something suspicious about the five star reviews, they also gave five stars to all the other properties owned by the corporate office.
There is not enough space on the internet for me to adequately describe my displeasure with the management of the Retreat at Johns Creek. The staff isnt just not friendly, theyre downright rude, and incompetent to boot. They do not communicate when work is going to be done at the complex (Im currently listening to roofers stomping above my head at 6:30pm) they are 100% unaccessible after hours (local management AND corporate) they have left me notes saying I had packages when I didnt, they once held a package that came in for me in early December until mid February (I only got it then because they lost a different package and I insisted that they scour the office for my missing package, which was never found). The gates to the community are always either unable to open, or standing wide open. As roofing work was going on around the complex I stumbled upon several roofing nails (often pointed to the sky) on sidewalks and even on the porch of my apartment. When they repainted portions of the building, paint spatters were left on the sliding glass door leading from our living room to the deck. They have every month this year sent me an invoice through the mail that is due on the 1st, but isnt post marked until the 2nd, arriving on the 6th or later.I would go on, but as I start to write these things I can feel my blood pressure rising, and my frustration level only building.I cannot say DO NOT LIVE HERE emphatically enough. The Camden management wasnt great, but they were absolutely amazing when compared to the current cast.UPDATE: I really hoped no update to this review would be needed, but our newest adventure has been going on since April 2015. We have not had a reliable air conditioner since then. We have consistently asked them to come fix it, only to be told that either nothing is wrong, or it doesnt cool because you live on the third floor. The fact that this was passed off as a legitimate reason for faulty A/C says a lot about the complex and the competence of the people working here.
Prior to our current stay at the Camden River, my wife and I resided in Camden Peachtree (Georgia). As our first experience in a Camden residence, we immediately fell in love with everything about Camden Peachtree. When my wife obtained a promotion, we had to move here to the Duluth area and took advantage of the ability to transfer between Camden properties. We also assumed that having nothing but great things to say about Camden Peachtree...the same would be said of Camden River...Camden River has been the complete opposite of Camden Peachtree and to make for an easier read I will just bullet point the issues we had during our stay.Date: Aug 2014*AC went out the first day and caused for an uncomfortable hot southern autumn night.*We discovered a roach problem after day 3 on forward; had to stay on the pest control list.*Kitchen flooded after maintenance stated no pipes were connected below the kitchen sink.*You must purchase your own ceiling light fixtures; Ive never had to do this before.*Breezeway was pretty filthy*Once fixed, we were told the AC thermostat could not be set below 70 degrees; failure to comply could result in the AC unit freezing and going out of order.*The complex is very old and maintenance was called multiple times to to fix the bathroom drawer, refrigerator, and seal the front doors weather stripping in hopes of helping our bug problem*We were actually paying more here for a 2bed/1bath than in Camden Peachtree for a 2bed/2bath with storage. The bug problem eventually caused us move again to a new unit in Camden River to avoid breaking lease. We also figured maybe we got a bad unit out the bunch.Date Oct 2014In the new unit we came across a huge issue; we experienced this 1 week after coming back from our destination wedding. 4 am one morning we were awakened to the sound of maintenance at the door. I come from the master bedroom and realized the entire floor was up to about an inch of water...apparently the water heater busted.*The issue took place a week before the property ownership was being changed. This caused an issue with who to report the issue to as no property owner wanted to take ownership of the issue.*The tools that were used to dry the floor caused the temp in the apartment to reach 87.*I work from home which means I had to turn the AC on to actually make the place habitable; this caused a spike in the electric bill.*My wife and I had to shower in the Gym due to no hot water until the hot water heater issue was resolved.*Maintenance having to clean up caused me to be late for work on multiple occasions.*Carbon Monoxide alarm went off; Contacted 911 and maintenance. We were unable to reach maintenance due to a phone issue with the office and it not rolling over to on call.*Fire Department thought issue was resolved but issue occurred again the next day. My wife was sick from this and had to attend the ER.*We found out that there was a block in the roofs escape opening I believe for the gas to vent out. This caused the Gas to backtrack back down in to our apartment causing the levels to around 170 PPM (this was given by the gas rep who called the front office to have the entire building evacuated; this also caused me to miss work). So far this has been our experience and mind you that was all from Aug 2014 to Oct 2014. We are now just awaiting the end of our lease. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this Camden property but I would not allow it to discourage you from the possibility of another Camden.
This was the worst place ever! They might as well have put me on an episode of fear factor bombarded w/ roaches and spiders and who knows what else all the other critters were. I was paying $800+ for rent only to break my lease after three months which cost me additional $2000+ for term fees. When I notified the property manager of my pest problems in the unit, all they said to me was that they performed a weekly pest control and I could do an additional one per week upon request. This request was to be made weekly. Not only pests were my issue but the laundry facility and the garage as well.I had to run to work at 6 AM and my garage door was dysfunctional. I called the emergency maintenance to get it fixed, they showed up at a little after 9AM. This was after 4 calls were made and all their excuse was because emergency maint was offsite, no one could make it that early in the morning. Later I discovered that the leasing office did not give me keys to the garage in case these emergencies were to arise. They told me I should have requested a key for the garage side door during move in (How the heck was I supposed to know I was to receive a garage side door key when all they gave me was a garage opener and assured me this was all I needed until the situation arose?!?!?)Not much later I got locked out of my laundry facility w/ 3 loads of laundry in the laundry room. It was 8:00PM when the doors were locked shut no matter how many times I tried to open it w/ my access card. The hours of the laundry facility clearly stated they were open til 9. When I called the emergency maint line, they told me this wasnt an emergency so I needed to wait until the leasing office opened the next day. Having to work from 6AM until 10PM, I explained to them my hours of work conflicted w/ the leasing office hours and they carelessly just said I would have to find a way to reach them and somehow get my clothes from them. Then she gave me the were not responsible for any missing items speech. Luckily I was able to get help from a kind neighbor that saw me in fumes who helped me get in the laundry facility and gather all 3 loads of my laundry. The door apparently was defected and wasnt able recognize any key access cards to de-magnitize the security entrance doors. He had to force the magnetized entrance to split with a spatula.I couldnt bare to stand living in this community w/ so much problems for such a costly rent, I chose to pay the penalty charges and break my lease and move before I even reached my third month. I knew if I didnt leave then, more problems would arise and I would rather pay the $2000+ to end my terms with them and save myself the headaches. To conclude it all, the leasing office personnels are just useless programmed robots. Rather than trying to offer or find a solution, all they did was give you the im sorry speech and well follow up with you shortly to never get back to you timely until you really nag at them.Save yourself the headache and dont move in here!
Bedbugs in many apts. People throw mattresses out and just leave them infested by dumpster. Had bedbugs break out 3 times. 2 failed treatments; had to just walk away the third time. Spent $1000s fighting the bed bugs. The apt. complex claims its my stuff that brought in bedbugs. My stuff has been sitting in a house that hasnt had bug problems for 17 yrs. They use the excuse that I brought one in on my shoe. How do I walk from my bedbug infested apt. (daily) to work, friends, parents, stores, etc. and not spread bedbugs to those places 1 time in a 14 month span of time? Also a lot of families live here and dont care what their kids are doing and where they are. Unattended kids running around making noise. I left for work right as the bus dropped off 50+ kids. All the parents talk and dont give enough attention to their kid(s). So I have to be super careful not to hit any. Kids would jump out in front of your car, drop their ball and run in front of your car, and many parents arent there to monitor.dWorst experience of my life. Now Im forced to live at home with parents until I get back on my feet.If you must live here, make the complex hire an expert to confirm no bedbugs in apt. The bedbug addendum is a scam. You sign saying that you checked the apartment and its fine and anything that comes up is your fault. No one but a pest control expert has the capacity to know what they want you (the tenant) to know. You cant risk losing $1000s, if not 10s of $1000s, worth of stuff.P.S. Dont be confused; this place gets 0 stars. Google only lets you put 1 as a minimum.
If you are on a Visa and your dependents do not have SSN, This apartment will charge half month non-refundable fee as your dependent will not have a credit history. Even if you and youre dependent have an excellent rental history.$55 for cable will be charged because of the agreement they made with Xfinity to be the only internet provider. Hence Xfinity charges more than what it does to adjacent neighbor communities
Laura was great, very friendly and very attentive. Anything me and my roommate needed was quickly taken care and Laura always did her best to make us feel welcome. Laura made the move in process simple so that we could focus on moving in instead of tons of paperwork and the intricacies of renting. Overall, fantastic, Laura was the best.
Though not luxurious apartments but will rate them high because of efficiency of management staff and also perfect for families with kids..these apartments have small but good play area and a well kept swimming pool along with a gym. So far we havent faced any kind of issue which wasnt resolved.
I read reviews after reviews after reviews and you would think this place is just AWFUL. a friend of mine lived here and he had no complaints but the reviews had me questioning the apartment complex but I decided to move in anyways. It was close to my job (AT&T) and close to LA Fitness. So I must say, I have NO IDEA what people are talking about. I moved in and had some complaints about my bathroom, no worries, I called it in and it was fix immediately the next day. The staff is super friendly and Im from New York so Im naturally rude lol and they were friendly to me. They have a indoor basketball court, nice size gym, a lounge area, a pool and did I mention an indoor basketball court? Me and my friend live at total different areas of the apartment complex and we both love it. My only downfall to this apartment complex is....... I wish the basketball court stay open 24/7 and WAS USED FOR BASKETBALL ONLY but I cant get the world so I understand lol but its really not bad at all. I assume these people that are writing these bad reviews are probably just not good people person and they probably voted for trump. So idk lol If you wanna know more just hmu. I can give you a tour myself but just ask for Phillip. He gave me my tour.
As usual for this year too, we got the word of approval on Diwali (Indian Festival) celebrations inside the basketball/volleyball court by Property Manager, many weeks of advance, and we started the preparations (booking the DJ, food, Fireworks, etc) in full pace.Out of blues, 2 weeks before the function, we were told by the Manager that Fire Marshall raised some safety concerns on the basketball/volleyball court, due to malfunctioning of Sprinklers and Exit gate....and now we cant go ahead with the function.Upon amicable discussions we found that these safety concerns can not be resolved due to Resource Issues (Money and Man Power). It sounds weird to me that if you run the apartments of ~400 units and you are constrained by Money and Man Power that too when its hazardous for the folks playing the basketball/volleyball.This is totally unbelievable and unacceptable.
I have lived in this complex for over a year and all they have done is put lipstick on the pig! The majority of the residents are rude and dont have any respect for the property or anyone other than themselves or their kind. I cant wait until my lease runs out to move. To pay so much for so little is criminal. Id rate this property less if I could, but thats not an option.
Best living place in JC, the community is napping quite most times- summer time kids will be kids the grounds are kept up and they are spot on with tenant service request. This complex is super close to multiple shopping areas such as Whole Foods / Target / Home Depot/ Hobby lobby etc. I just smile when I get ready to come home.
We have to pay 55$ for Comcast or Xfinity even if we dont use it. We are paying a decent rent, but facilities specially related to sports are not up to the mark. pool table is not in good condition.no sticks and ball for pool. Also recently we came to know that our basket ball court is not safe.

Having issues with pests since more than 1 year. following up with management regularly with No LUCK. Retreat keep on changing staff on regular basis. Most of the staff is unfriendly. Things were totally different when Camden used to own this property. To resolve a service request it takes lot of time and multiple follow ups.
Updates - 09/08/2018Residents paying $660 yearly for basic TV which we dont want and community is not doing anything for that... They were saying that they are working but i dont think they care .. $55 per month is too costly for basic TV..Please stop that ASAP-----Apartment is okay but lot of (BIG) cockroaches.. You can see them walking/crawling on roads , parking and poolUnnecessary charges for basic SD cable ($50 PM) , you can not opt out. . In $50 you can get Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime and still have leftover to go and watch movie in theater but no - you have to take basic cable. Someone did some contract with Comcast and residents paying price.
I really wish I could stay out of this community. It has horrible maintenance the bugs and cockroaches are way too many. I live in the upgraded apartment yet they are many bugs. It is sad that management also seems to not care. The new manager claims to come take a look at the property it’s been 3 weeks she hasn’t turned up. Please stay out of this community if you can.
Worst place to live in. Filed for work request couple weeks ago, only came by a week later when i went over to the office and brought them with me. Only fixed one of the 4 requests and posted them completed online. Their excuse was that they are running behind. But for weeks? Its either the maintenance team needs more people bc they obviously cant handle the work load, or they dont know what theyre doing. Highly disappointed in the new management. It was better when it was camden.
Seriously telling you guys, this is the worst place ive ever lived.I saw more than 4-5 insects in my apartment on a daily basis. The worst part is that staffs are literally trash. They seem to hate communicating with us and every time I request them to do something, it takes forever. If you wanna waste your life give up your life quality, this is the best place to live
When I moved in there was no roaches in my apartment.Couple of months ago since there a leakage of pipes they drilled my wall and left it open for weeks. Then all roaches started coming. It happened in April until now I have tons little roaches moving around in my house .Pest control come and spray every week but nothing is effective.I complained the management multiple times but they don’t really care and just give you some answers. The previous management was very nice but now they don’t care about the residents.I can’t recommend this place to live in for new people.I am stuck until my lease ends
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! My adult teenager leased an apartment at Camden River. I thought the roach issue plastered all over the web was an exaggeration...not so! I walked her move-in ready apartment with her. Dead roach carcasses EVERYWHERE!! The carpet was just as-is when the prior tenant moved out!
I love this locality and have never seen bug issues in last one year of my stay here. i would refer this place to everyone i know. New management seems to be working hard all the time but if they have more people managing front desk would be good addition and probably earn last missing start as well in my rating. keep it up guys :-)
Yesterday, I was leaving my apt 512 and I noticed a strange puddle forming under the stairwell. At first I though it was water flowing in from the front of the atrium but that is impossible since water does not flow uphill. Please note that a heavy rainstorm had been in progress for the prior 15 minutes. Anyway it appears that water could be running down the interior of a wall and exiting out of the wall and onto the atrium floor. Good luck in locating the source of this leak.
Nice appartment with trees. Tennis courts lights are not working from last 2 years and never repaired after many complaints. After 2 years finally on 2nd October 2020 we were told that they will repair. On November 13 after follow up we were told that due to covid things are delayed. Then in December mid, Management wants community members to play tennis during office hours only. No further update after that.Update (mid April) - New lights are installed and they are great.
Guys - If you have a family and want to not destroy your peace, plz be better live some where else... Because management will treat you like slave... Bad ppl in office (especially new manager) cockroaches, everywhere, amenities in poor state.Camden management was the best but the new management seems to have different goals.
We moved in Feb and the management was amazing previously. But couple of months ago management people have changed and they are very rude with the residents especially the manger and also the newly appointed person. They are very unfair during construction of roads where they charged for some people when they towed the vehicles while others were left.I was one among them who paid it.They demolished the park in summer and did not reconstruct them until schools reopened. The packages are held in the office and they dont care to search properly and sometimes say its not available but we can clearly have status as delivered at the front desk.
MY WIFE AND I STAYED AT THE RETREAT FOR 2 YEARS. WE HAD A TWO BEDROOM APARTMENT. THE LOCATION IS GREAT, MAINTENANCE IS ALWAYS UP TO PAR AND ITS SUPER QUIET. VERY KID FRIENDLY WHICH I DIDNT MIND AT ALL. WE JUST MOVED OUT AND ALTHOUGH WE REALLY DIDNT WANT TO, THE RENT INCREASE STARTED TO BECOME OUTRAGEOUS. AFTER THE FIRST YEAR IT WAS RAISED $85 AND THEY WANTED TO RAISE IT ANOTHER $95 THIS YEAR. WE JUST SAID LETS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THE APARTMENT WAS COZY BUT NOTHING SPECTACULAR AND TOO SMALL TO BE PAYING $1600+. OVERALL A DECENT STAY. JUST TOO PRICEY FOR THE SMALL SPACE.
MY NEIGHBOR UPSTAIRS FROM ME HOT WATER HEATER BUSTED AND CAUSED MY CEILING TO LEAK CREATING A HUGE HOLE. MY FLOOR FLOODED AND THEN THE WALLS STARTED TO CRACK. WHEN THE CLEANING CREW CAME THEY BROKE MY DESCENT GRANDMOTHERS CHINA AND WINE GLASSES AND LEFT IT ON THE FLOOR FOR MY TWO YEAR OLD TO GET HURT FROM. THE LEASING OFFICE DID NOT ACCOMADATE ME IN ANY TYPE OF WAY. THEY HAD NO APT FOR ME TO MOVE INTO. ALL THEY OFFERED WAS SOME FANS FOR THE FLOODED FLOOR AND LATER IN THE WEEK PAINTERS! TO PAINT OVER THE DAMAGE DRYWALL!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR TENANTS AT ALL!!!!!!
While living in this apartment, when it rained mold in the whole house due to moisture and humidity, the whole house was difficult because of the smell and other problems with mold.In the apartment we used to live in, the walls are always moldy and smelly after rain.In addition, where there is a water heater, water is always leaking, so the water spills over to the room, making it impossible for people to live. But a year later the same problem arose. Water is leaking from the air conditioner and from the heater. Many clothes and bags had to be thrown away when organizing the move. I had to throw it away because the clothes or bags I had in my closet had mold and couldnt be used.Playgrounds and swimming pools are always messy, and kids and adults just go on the road, so whenever I drive, I get annoyed. There are a lot of bugs and children and bikers on the street play badminton in the parking lot.Anyway, we moved and it was like a nightmare to live there.

2022-01-20Ben from the leasing office is the most driven and helpful agent Ive met in the area. Despite only working with Johns Creek for a year, he was a wizard of knowledge about the property, rental policies, and surrounding area. The quality of the properties was expected, but it was Bens knowledge and charm that sold me. He deserves better and should rightfully be recognized for the quality of work he puts into providing and knowing for his community. Ben - thank you so much, we are looking forward to moving in.

2022-05-12My family and I had a great tour experience with Ben a few weeks ago when we came to visit the Retreat at Johns Creek. We went to visit and were considering it as an option as we are relocating from another state. Both me and my husband called the Leasing office multiple times a day during business hours AND I send an email which was never responded to for the past 2 weeks since the tour and have never been able to speak to a live representative yet.UPDATED REVIEW: We were able to speak with the Client Services Manager, Elena who apologized for the issue and was able to answer our questions.Thank you!

2022-01-21We lived there more than 1 and half year, initially we loved the apartment. Once my neighbor complained my 3 year old kid running sometimes during day time too. We explained the management but they simply ignored whatever we said and sent a notice and did not extend our lease. So in my opinion its not a good place to stay with kids . The mail box system is another horrible, they were replacing the mail boxes since years so. we always need to stop by the leasing office to collect the mails :(

2022-03-20Update: I have removed my 1-star review as we have seen some positive changes since it was posted.- Management is aware of tenant habits and have been proactive in communicating courtesy expectations. They have continued to mediate and encourage neighborly actions.- Office was very quick to respond to my review after I posted it. They have been kind and empathetic.- Gate is still frequently broken, but that is a community problem, not a management problem.- Mailboxes have been fixed! Tenants no longer have to go to the office to get their mail.Things are looking up and will continue to improve as the community becomes more courteous and aware. Management is trying.——————If you are looking for reviews, please note: The Retreat/Management does NOT respond to the emails sent to the account that they post on their review responses. This is misleading and all about optics. This apartment complex has created so much stress and this list is just a snapshot of our frustrations. We are paying our rent, staying in compliance, and getting out as soon as our lease ends.1. Residents are rude. If you live near the playground, children will scream and run out wild and parents will not intervene. They will run into traffic. They will run into breezeways yelling without consideration for the neighbors living in those hallways. I wish we had been told our unit would be so close to the playground so we could have negotiated a different unit or found another complex.2. The office staff/courtesy officer will not reach out to residents to solve issues. They tell you to call the police. We have had noise issues with our neighbors running and stomping since they moved in (prior family were never heard—just normal living sounds) and we were told to call the police. On children. Not okay.3. Gate is always broken. Don’t expect that as a form of security. The residents/their guests are so rude, bust down the gate on a monthly basis.4. Weekly/daily emails with messages and reminders of protocols fill my inbox. This complex loves to threaten tenants but they never seem to check their own email to address problems.5. You will find that facilities and Maintenance are lacking. We have had to make repeat requests and the resolutions take an unsatisfactory amount of time.6. Instead of fixing the mailboxes in the complex, they have kept all the tenants mail in the office, only accessible during office hours, and have no game plan to fix the mailbox situation for the whole complex. Which means any packages we receive and don’t make it before close of business, has to wait till we can get there. They will send your items to the post office if you cannot work within their timeline. For people who work long hours—this has caused problems.7. We received an email the day before the 24th that the office would be closed through Sunday. If you ordered something to arrived before Christmas, this puts residents in a jam because they cannot grab anything from the office on the 24th.8. On their holiday break email, customers were told they would be fined if they called the emergency line about: broken stove burners, lock-outs, “minor” leaks in pipes, clogged toilets or sinks.9. Oh yes—and all that you are reading about the roaches is true.Maybe move in if you have friends here and don’t care about living in a calm and courteous complex. This is not a retreat.

2022-02-24Questionable maintenance, unhelpful every-time. Something is always broken. Our ceiling had a giant leak and it took days for someone to come and fix the leak. The basketball court is always extremely hot and the net is broken. The kids terrorize the people that work out in the gym, and during the summer the pool is hardly cleaned (if it’s not closed.) the cyber cafe computers are practically torn apart, the tvs don’t work, and the board games are missing many pieces. The racketball court is never open. Many air vents in my house never work and the rooms feel like a sauna while the rest of the house feels like the arctic tundra. Don’t be fooled by the pictures.

2022-05-07Quick update: our issues with patio have been resolved. Thank you Jessica for the quick action! This is a pretty decent community at the Johns creek area. Homes are good in terms of amenities. We have been living here for the past 6 months and our maintenance requests are always taken care.

2022-07-07The floor quality is pretty poor. You can hear thumping noise on the roof even if someone is simply walking. Staff keeps complaining about being short staffed. Does not easily heed to the complaints. Multiple follow ups needed with assistant managers and managers sitting in the cabin and the attitude is pretty rude. Ben is the only guy who is helpful.

2022-01-11If you have to work or go to school in the area, these apartments might be your most affordable option. Your rent will likely be raised by $100+ after a year, and predatory business practices are used to attempt to coerce you into signing a new lease several months before yours is even up. Don’t want to sign their first offer to renew your lease 4 months ahead of time? Don’t worry, your first offer expires a few weeks after it’s sent to you and the next one will be even more expensive! You’ll also be paying 50$ a month for their cable/internet even if you don’t use it. All that being said, the maintenance team is great and responds the day-of your request being made, they’re always helpful and kind.

2022-07-07This community is having full of roaches, and the reviews on roaches are correct. And the pest control is no use as well. Roaches are still coming after the pest control has been done. Management have only one answer they are short staffed.
