Since my son has been attending this school, Ive noticed that he wants to try his best to live by the principles that the school has taught him. Mrs. Pam helps by provide a welcoming environment and will give encouraging words.
I love that Mr. Crosby teaches me about karate and he helps me when I cannot do anything that he tells me to do. I like when he does karate, hes nice to me and helps me learn and grow. He gives me stickers every time I do good and I do my ninja best. My favorite thing to do is obstacle courses. I want to be a big ninja when I grow up!-M, age 5We have been with Mr. Crosby for almost two years now. As parent, I love that Mr. Crosby teaches the children self-confidence. He provides an avenue for them to grow and learn independence in a safe environment while teaching them valuable life skills. He does an exceptional job with the children. You can see the joy on their faces as they are learning new skills and tricks, you can also see the passion that he has for his job.The school is also phenomenal! This family run business welcomes all students in such a loving and supportive manner. While karate is the main focus, the dojo recognizes the critical need for developing relationships and fostering community. Without hesitation, I strongly recommend this school!
My son has been enrolled at UMAD since June 2020. Coming from another Martial Arts school, my family and I have been greatly impressed by Sensei Crosby’s ability to relate to children and instill a thirst for learning. Not only does he teach skills necessary to become a martial artist, he is teaching life skills to set children up for success well into adulthood. My son is not only learning to execute techniques but rather he is learning why these techniques are useful. I would recommend UMAD to anyone without reservation.
My son started taking lessons with Sensei about 2 months ago and he has looked forward to every class. If he could take class everyday I’m sure he would . Sensei interacts so well with the kids and keeps them engaged from start to finish . He makes sure the kids are not only enjoying themselves but learning the art and the system behind it. He address questions each session , gives class updates , and is always available for concerns. He works towards progression with the kids not only in their martial arts ranking but everyday living . Assigning behavior charts and keeping parents involved. We are grateful to have found his location and look forward to growing with the center .
UMAD and Sensei Crosby have been amazing. My son struggles with focusing and the pandemic has been hard for him. I wanted to find something he could do that was safely distanced while giving him the social aspect hed been missing. Something to help his self esteem that he could be proud of but also teach him discipline and character. We didnt have to look far to find it!! UMAD and Sensei Crosby were exactly the help we needed!! Hes patient with the kids, takes everything step by step, and makes sure all the kids get the attention they need. Sensei Crosby is always willing to answer any questions from the children or parents and has complete and thorough knowledge of everything he teaches. Hes constantly encouraging and praising them but is guiding and stern. My son will truly carry what he learns from Sensei Crosby throughout his life and cant wait to be as good as Sensei is
We have been with UMAD/Sensei Crosby for 3 years now and it has been an amazing experience. Sensei Crosby is very knowledgeable and is very patient with the students. My son has learned so much and looks forward to class each week. Sensei Crosby and Mrs. Pam are very professional and create a very caring environment. I did plenty of research before choosing UMAD and I KNOW we made the right decision!
UMAD is a family business, and they treat everyone like family. They have made sure to keep the studio clean and safe after reopening from COVID19, and always put the welfare of their UMAD family first. My children love Sensei Crosby and Miss Pam, and I know that they will be in an environment of respect, learning, and fun. Sensei Crosby expects respect from his students, but he also treats them with respect. Expectations and changes are always clearly communicated, and they are willing to work to accommodate unique or extenuating circumstances. My children have benefited from Sensei Crosby’s school both physically and mentally and I am grateful they have an extracurricular experience that is safe, constructive, and consistent.
Sensei Broadwater is very kind and considerate. He gave me great advice and leadership. I cant wait for more people to welcome UMAD into their families. Its a great place to learn Martial Arts.
My son has been with Sensei Crosby for over 2 1/2 years and anyone who has come with us to class has marvelled at how great he is with his students. He is patient, but firm, which is a tough balancing act that he manages perfectly. The kids have fun, but learn important lessons beyond their karate skills. I can not say enough wonderful things about UMAD.
It’s been nothing short of amazing watching my little girl grow in confidence, integrity, and respect. I can attest that her overall attitude has improved at home as well as school! She seems more motivated in everyday activities and is usually eager to try some of her strikes she learns at your dojo at home with the family. She seems to listen more attentively and demonstrates discipline at home with keeping her room clean. To say that I am pleased with Sensei Crosby and the UMAD Dojo would be an understatement.
UMAD is an awesome place for karate. The patience and structure is emasculate. It’s very diverse family friendly.

Sensei Crosby is a phenomenal instructor. My boys have taken classes from him prior to the establishment of his own studio. He has a unique approach to his teaching style which incorporates life lessons with the skill of martial arts. Children gravitate toward his instruction and immediately become attached to learning martial arts. There are many martial arts studios in the area, but not all offer a sense of belonging. UMAD is a great dojo filled with positive energy.
I am writing this review in support of Universal Martial Arts (UMAD) Dojos School located in Augusta, GA as the “Chuck Norris System” School of the year and Sensei Crosby Broadwater III as UFAF Instructor of the year. As a new parent that has enrolled our 4 year old son in the Universal Martial Arts Dojos School, I have been very impressed with the school dedication, structure and discipline they are teaching to children of all ages. Our son is learning the meaning of respect and how it should be demonstrated inside and outside of school.I have observed Instructor Sensei Crosby Broadwater III exhibit excellent leadership, extreme patient and a respectful mindset towards all of his students. We decided to enroll our daughter a few mo the ago and it has been the best decision. She enjoys it so much and Crosby works very well with the children. He is patient but at the same time he demands respect. I can see a difference in my child’s personality and attitude. She is more confident and outgoing, and she talks about ethics and respect a lot. Really good environment all around.
Great place for kids to do Martial Arts. Mr. Crosby does a excellent job at teaching the fundamentals in a fun way that keeps the kids engaged. Discipline is enforced in the class and tools are provided to extend the discipline lessons to the house as well. Very patient with the kids and accommodated our needs as a military family. Exactly what I was looking for to get my kids started with Martial Art.

Not only is this professional instruction, but its also world class training. Thank you, Sensei, for offering a vast array of classes where anyone can train in just about anything, even preparing and learning how to do stunts for their entertainment career. Like, wow!!!!!!!!! Sensi Crosby is great with the kids. He demands respect not only for himself but the students with each other. Our great granddaughter has learned a lot of techniques in her first 3 months there and enjoys what she is doing. Love this Chuck Norris approved Martial Arts Studio. (by the way the proof is on his wall, is it on any other wall in Augusta? Probably not.)

My 4 year old has been seeing Sensei Crosby for a few months now and his focus and confidence has greatly improved in the short amount of time he’s been going! He enjoys showing up weekly for class.
This Dojo is immaculate. You can tell that the owner has passion for what they do and love for the people they teach there. I wish more places were taken care of with pride like that. I recommend you stop by and try their Dojo. Ive seen some that arent as well-kept and this one is amazing.
I’ve brought my kid to many Dojo’s in the area, and I’ve never been more displeased with a school. The instructor tells his story of struggle almost as a crutch it feels like to draw people in. As well my kid barley learned defense techniques. Does not seem like karate, more of he takes my money and teaches my kid to throw a kick he could’ve learned from YouTube. Highly don’t recommend.
We have decide to enroll our son in umad dojo this month and seems like he has more confidence in his self and getting along with others better and Mr Crosby is a wonderful teacher and love to help one on one during class
Mr. Crosby did great with my son during his initial evaluation to decide placement. We are looking forward to classes starting in just a couple weeks!!
Sensi Broadwater is very professional. Great with the younger and older kids. His staff, Ms. Pam, is polite and professional and welcomes all families. Sensi Broadwater and his staff are EXCELLENT. Highly recommend his dojo for all kids and adults.

2022-05-11My daughters have been enrolled with UMAD for a little over a year. In this past year, with Ms. Pam and Sensi Crosby working with my daughters, I have seen their confidence grow tremendously. I have watched my 9 year old go from a very timid, shy, child to a young lady who has found her voice and no longer afraid to perform in front of a crowd. The family atmosphere is also a wonderful.

2022-07-06Sensi Crosby is an excellent instructor. This was my grandsons first time at UMAD.I admire Mr. Crosby for his teaching techniques with the students. My grandson has built more confidence in himself. I have seen a great change in his attitude and hes more open and talkative when meeting people. My grandson was always eager and ready to go practice on Tues. & Thurs. The days that he didnt attend; I had to listen at him tell me what Sensi taught him along with watching him do self defense moves. I really liked how Mr. Crosby had the students so focused and respectful.4 weeks dont seem like a lot but, Mr. Crosby taught him and the other students so much that they will remember him and this training forever. Mr. Crosby is an excellent instructor and very patient; he takes his time with each child , giving all of them his full attention. The students and parents love him and have the utmost respect for him. Mrs. Pam is the sweetheart of the bunch, she ensures the students are checked in and ready practice along with all other duties to make everything go well. Mr. Crosby and his staff at UMAD is awesome and I recommend anyone looking for Martisl Arts to try UMAD, Augusta West Parkway. Thank you all at UMAD. See you next summer

2022-05-14Absolutely wonderful with small kids and everyone they meet. Mrs. Pam is great at helping to get everything set up and explained everything with ease. Sensei Crosby shocked me with how great he is with the public and keeping the kids minds focused and ready to learn. I’ve seen many others where you don’t see that and most of all my daughter loves going. Undeniably the best decision we made was sending her here and if your not sure they have a summer package that’s 4 classes in 4 weeks for $99 that right there I found no one was willing to do, bc sometimes you don’t know if it’s going to be a no-go with your child & that sport.

2022-03-02My son is learning karate from UMAD with Sensei Crosby and every moment has been a pleasant experience. My son is five years old and we discovered this dojo through an after school program offered at my sons school. I could not be more pleased with the confidence building, firm patience, defense techniques, self respect and many other things that my son is developing by attending classes here. He was already a well behaved child for five years old, but with this class, hes more than thriving in all aspects. Highly recommended!!Update: TWO YEARS LATER, school is still AMAZING!

2022-04-28My girls are learning Karate at UMAD and they love it! Hes particularly good with the smaller kids which is great because smaller kids tend to have short attention spans. My 5 year old loves going to class and shes always excited when she learns new things as well as my 12 year old. She always eager to show what she has learned.

2022-05-03UMAD Dojo lead by Sensei Crosby has been quite inspiring for my kids. There are many victory stories that happens in this school that are inspiring for the kids to follow. Like the display of dedication and commitment by Mrs. Pams early return from hip surgery or the incredible blind student that spas with weapons with Sensei Crobsy and more importantly, the ideal role models set by the newest black belts Victoria and Logan. Senseis experience and skills with children and teaching reflects in my childrens behavior during tournaments, in school, and at home. The best decision Ive made .

2022-05-13We absolutely LOVE umad! It’s been two years and my daughter is more sharp and focused than ever. Her classmates are more like her family at this point. She and her classmates tell jokes and keep secrets just like brothers and sisters. Bring your kids here, you won’t regret it!

There are 3 different levels beginner, itermediate, and advanced. Are teacher, Sensei Crosby, gives us a worksheet every month as homework.Mrs.Pam should win the most unsparational because she wants us to be kind. She comes to class everyday to help. She inspired us to practice at home and at the studio.
