Uptown Cheapskate in other cities:
Update: I would give this place a second chance... I’ve been a loyal customer for years and it can get discouraging to shop at a store when employees shoot you dirty looks. I’ve never had an issue with the employees up until this point.Where I draw the line is when they take my stuff and don’t pay for it. They claimed it as donation then put a tag on it. This is a corrupt business, you can’t take someone’s stuff then charge people for it without *Paying me for my stuff that they basically stole. I would not trust these people!!! Look what I found in my car!!!
This place was outstanding!!!!! The people are great the clothes are great quality and an all around a great store. There are shoes, shorts, shirts, skirts, and so much more. You can also easily sign up to get rewards or discounted prices. It was a great experience and I will definitely be going back as well as you should you can get cute clothes, sporty clothes and many ranged outfits. If you haven’t been here I recommend it 1000%
DO NOT sell here. Take your items to Labels (Sandy Springs and Buckhead), Twisted Thread (Alpharetta), or Closet Exchange (Alpharetta) consignment shops. Horrible customer service. I wasn’t greeted or acknowledged when walking in the door, but uncomfortably stared at until I asked what to do. Very rude, unfriendly, unprofessional staff. It was 7:30pm and they acted as if it was 9:00pm closing time. It was my first time there. They didn’t explain the process. They just took my bag of designer clothes and told me to look around. Then they offered only $15 for a pair of brand new Free people leggings ($100), brand new Beyond yoga top ($65), and a pair of designer pants. I obviously didn’t go through with it, and took back my items. They said nothing. No response. It was as if I was invisible (And there was only 1 other customer in the store). Such a horrible experience!
Uptown always has something I want. Best for feminine people 12-25, however Ive brought my mother here and she always finds something for herself as well! This place is an upscale Platos Closet, with a constantly rotating stock to keep it fresh. Its easy to stay here for hours because of the inviting environment. Bring your own reusable bag or carry out the clothes, theyre mindful of environmental impact. Shop is organized, and dressing rooms are clean. I never have a negative experience here.
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I dropped off my clothes around 6:30 ended up changing my mind because the people at the desk were so incredibly rude. Felt like I was a bothering them…Don’t take your clothes here unless you want to be bullied into leaving.
From the outside it looked so small but when you go inside it was very large. Not only do they have clothes that go with anyone’s style but they have clothes that keep up with new trends. There were clothes that were used and others that weren’t. Everything was color coded and they had so many options. You could honestly spend hours inside just looking for the perfect outfit. Not only that but they had shoes too and a large men’s section. The service was also amazing.
This location has always had great things considering the area. But the customer service wasnt there for a very long time. BUT Saturday! I went in around 2:13 and the first thing I noticed was the store looked revamped! They had a floorset! It looks organized! Refreshed! And most importantly inviting!Normally I will sometimes get a greeting and thats it. No one would ask me for cart or nothing. BUT this time I was greeted, I was asked if I wanted a cart and if I was finding everything okay. That never happened to me and Ive been coming here for years.I went to try my clothes on and I was told to go to a fitting that was open. I think they are letting the counting items before going in go. But still friendly!Checking out blew me away! I was waiting in line and it was a lot of clothes someone was purchasing. And this guy I believe works in the kids store attached to Uptown Cheapskate was maybe helping the store out. He asked if someone could check me out.I know I keep saying normally BUT normally you will just have to wait. There would be 3 or 4 people behind the register and only one person checking people out. Not this time! Cassidy who checked me out was so nice! The guy who asked if someone could check me out was not only nice but so funny! The entire shopping experience was completely different and I am so proud that this is my Uptown Cheapskate. I did a survey once and was asked to follow up and I did but nothing changed for minute so I never did more surveys when asked. But Saturday was a great day there. I feel like I am going to continue to have great days going there moving forward. You guys have to go there if you havent already! Not all Uptown Cheapskates are the same vibe or same brands! If you love Anthropologie, Madewell, Free People etc. This is the location that has more of these brands on a regular and so much more! And the shopping vibe is fun!
The customer service has truly gone down. this was one of my favorite places to shop because I thought the prices were relatively reasonable. However Ive been having a really bad time with their customer service. I place items on hold to get the next day, and I come back to the store and they have restocked and reshelve my clothes. The first time I considered it an accident but this has been a reoccurring trend. My personal policy is that I have a three strikes youre out rule and this is happened to me now the third time and Im debating whether or not I want to come back or find another store.
Literal cheapskates. Brought in designer clothes, they gave me $25 for a Burberry shirt, five dollars for a coach purse, five dollars for a Nike hoodie, and said the rest wasn’t worth a flip basically. i do not recommend bringing anything worth money here. plus, the ppl are very rude.
I love me some Uptown Cheapskate! Ever since I tried this place with my brother a few years ago, we go nonstop. There is SO here that will catch your eye! and I never feel bad for spending money, because I get a lot more than if I spent the same amount elsewhere. FYI they prefer to go bagless, so I bring my own reusable bag.
Not a good place to sell, okay finds. Don’t bring anything worth something here. I would advise hitting every other consignment shop in the area and then bring all of your grubby leftovers to this store and you will leave with the same $8 they would have offered you for your good stuff. Offered me $10 for hunter rain boots. $7 for Nike running shoes. Asked for my boots back and sold to platos for $30, the cost that uptown cheapskate was going to price my boots at to sell.
Before you walk in you see a sign that promote wearing a mask but there own employees take it off to have conversations like there untouchable to this disease. Also, why even have the sign up if you if allow your customers to wear it as chin-guard. Dont get me wrong, love to shop here but the point is to feel safe and not have to dodge people from not respecting that rule and practice social distancing. How many times do we need to here!!!
They are conspicuously selective about who they greet. Prices are absurdly high, especially for used clothes. Lots of items have stains, holes, missing buttons, etc. And the employee kept giving me weird looks, no thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. And they overcharged me. It was buy one, get one free on all color stickers, yet I got charged normal prices despite buying only two items, one of which had a yellow sticker & the other which had a red sticker.
They could easily be 5 stars because I love the store but the customer service stinks. I stood at the register on two different occasions without being acknowledged. They had plenty of personnel but it was like I was invisible. On the other hand, the Cumming location has terrific customer service. The owners need to know customer service can make or break a store.
Terrible experience selling my clothes at Uptown Cheapskate. I came in with a bag prepared of freshly washed and new never worn clothes from Victoria’s Secret, fossil, Michael Kors, etc and the staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I didn’t get a chance to see what items they took from my bag and they did not tell me what price they would buy each item for. At the end the guy called me up and handed me my stuff without a word, so when I asked they told me they took 5 items and I received 8 dollars in cash. They took a couple of the boxes I had put the jewelry in which I simply used to place the jewelry in, not for them to take. And all the items they took were brand new each swim suit top/shirt was around 20-30$ and I received $2 for them which I couldn’t get back. Overall was not happy with my “profit” or experience at the store at all. I was a pretty regular customer but that was my first time selling my clothes to them and I will not be returning. I
I usually love shopping there and I understand that theyre going through a renovation process so its very cramped very noisy but my biggest issue is having to try on clothes in the bathroom which they didnt set up anything to put clothes to hang them on while youre trying them on it smelled awful in there and no ventilation. I will definitely be back once all the renovations are completed
I recently went into the store and was a bit concerned with the reviews online. When I went in the store the staff immediately greeted me and were generally helpful overall. There is still some work to be done on their attitude, but since Ive last been they have a new much friendlier staff. Thankful for the improvements!
I usually have good luck as a shopper here, if I can get passed the disorganized store and have time to dig through vast amounts of clothing. Be very brand conscious when you shop here. I have seen target jeans for $21.99 when they are $22.99 brand new, as well as Wal-Mart shirts for $7.99, which is more than retail value. Also, sales staff tends to be high school types with bad attitudes. The selling clothes part is where I find fault. Keep in mind what I said about being brand conscious as a shopper. I have never once had them take a single article of clothing from me except 5 mens Adidas t-shirts. This past time I went to turn in clothes as an experiment. I had Ann Taylor Loft jeans and tops, a Lafayette 148 silk blouse, a Nannette Lipore blazer, and several Forever 21 items. They took nothing. Went across the street to Alexis Suitcase, a true consignment store, and everything was accepted. I dont think the high school brats they hire would know style or quality if it introduced itself.
Very nice thrift store for teens and young adults with designer clothes. Ive gotten a few things that were not returnable that were damaged. Items are a bit higher priced than some other thrift stores and knowing this youd think they would give a little more for items you take in (especially new clothes with tags on).
First time selling here and definitely will be the last. I dropped my items off after the buying hrs. All the person asked me is if the items they choose not to purchase can be donated. I advised no. She asked me if this was my first time selling there i said yes, but have sold to kid to kid at different location. I signed a kid to kid form. She lets me know that I will get an email in the morning advising when it was ready. I get an email saying that they bought my items for $20. I called to ask them when I can pick my things up. They told me i couldnt that because I left i forfeited my right to say I dont want to accept their buying price. I asked them what they bought. Morgan the manager stated they bought Ambercrombie items, Gap casual pants, 2 pair of ann taylor casual pants, a knit top and RAG N BONE! To which the RAG n BoNE jeans they gave me approx $6 bucks for!!! I got nowhere with her accepting accountability for the low balling of for her staff lack of explanation for anything. Take your things to Alexis Consignment, once upon a Child, Revive consignment, to be honest even platos closet pays more than that! Waste of time Kid to Kid and uptown cheapskate. I promise I WILL NEVER DO BUYING OR SELLING AT ANY LOCATION AGAIN AND I PROMISE TO SPREAD THE WORD. Uptown cheapskate is just that... CHEAPSKATES. You would do way better on private sale or garage sale. Save your time and gas. By the time you pull up and sell to them you are already at a loss in profit. Complete joke.
I’m writing this review as I wait on the side of the counter for the cashier to finish checking a customer out with a large purchase so she can scan my mystery gift card. When I came in, I went to an associate by the fitting room, I asked if he could help me scan this and see how much the gift card had so I could shop. He said I could go and wait for the cashier to finish. I’ve waited for 10 minutes now and she’s still not done. At this point he came to me, took the receipt, scanned it and said “$5” and turned around and left.Everyone here is always rude. I’ve never had anyone greet me or say thank you or good day. Nothing at all. It’s sad because I always come here at least twice a week and with every shop I spend over $70.
Took a few items here, most of which are jcrew and vans. The young woman who attended to my needs had an attitude and the offer for my belongings was a slap in the face ($6 for clothes in mint condition and cost me about $200). On top of that, they would not let me take my items back after i didnt want the offer. How are you guys gona hold items hostage (aren’t yours to begin with) after you offer a piss poor deal? I don’t know how you guys value clothes but its not good, get your eyes and sense of worth checked.
Customer service here has gone down immensely, so sad, used to be one of my favorite places to shop. I’m giving a 3 star rating because overall they have some nice items, fairly priced and in excellent condition, but if I were solely going off customer service I’d give a 1 star.
This place is amazing! All the staff are helpful and friendly! The clothes are always such deals and practically new. Almost all of my closet is from here and thats from hippie to work clothes and I always feel dressed to impress. Also the staff does such a great job with dressing the manicans and creating outfits that it has truely inspired my wardrobe. This is my favorite place to buy clothes in all of Atlanta. And it feels good buying used clothes to help the environment. Also they have a rewards system for choosing not to use a bag after your purchase wilhich helps donate to another charity. Also they have great music playing in addition to random environmental PSA about how the environment and their store plays a part in helping ❤️ This place!
Poor customer service! The people working here are so rude! They do not acknowledge you whatsoever and always seem like they have attitude or seem like they dont want to be bothered! I use to love coming to this place but not no more. If I could make a recommendation is for you to work with your team and have them work on their attitude!
Highly DO NOT recommend selling your clothes here. Or anything for that matter. They are extremely picky about what they will take from you. The customer service is horrible too. They charge too much for a consignment store and will only take brand new things or expensive brand name items. You are wasting your time if you go to Uptown Cheapskate and think they will take anything.
This place is a joke, went in with $100 worth of clothing and they only offered $11???it was 3 expensive nike clothing pieces with the tag still on them. When I first got there the lady in the front told me to wait, once she showed me how much they were going to give me for the items I asked for the clothing back and she told me someone else had already purchased them but it was only fair that I got them back because I didn’t leave the store ???? Excuse me lol never going in there again.
There were employees at the dressing room ( standing , talking , laughing)As i approached them to ask if i could try on some clothes , they looked at me , gave me an attitude and said “Can’t you see we’re doing something ?” Then continued on talking — very rude and unprofessional.

2022-05-28The staff is super chill and very patient! They let me take my time shopping the store as they went through the clothes I dropped off and when I was ready with my items, everything came to about 40% off. Got way more clothes than I even anticipated and all from really great name brands.I’ll definitely be coming back in the future. This is my new favorite place to shop for clothes.

2022-04-25Fav location thus far!!! Went for Earth Day sale and scored a ton of Free People and Urban Outfitters. A few items still had tags! The staff was incredibly sweet and kind (for some reason the one near me they’re always snooty, but in their defense that’s 1/4 locations I’ve visited). The staff here and at the Woodstock location are so amazing, I really can’t say enough good things about them. They also separate the higher end items from the racks which makes the process of finding what I’m seeking much smoother. I will now make it a point to stop at this store when traveling…IT’S HUGE! Lots of places to eat and hang in the same vicinity so imho it’s worth a bit of a drive!!! Thank you so much for providing stellar service, great items, and a cool atmosphere.

2022-08-14Uptown Cheapskate is a great store if youre looking for clothes that are in style and look good. They offer good companies at great prices and a wide collection of different styles to choose from. Every person can find something to like. There is a lot that is good about the company but some products do come through to be in bad quality and over priced. The buying process as well can screw you over depending on the time you wish to sell.

2022-03-27Ive always loved this store. I could spend hours looking at all they have to offer. From clothes to shoes to jewelry to bags. They have plenty of mens clothing and womens. They even sell brand new items that werent from consignment. Oh and also they have a good bit of sizes as well. As long as this store continues to be this great, I will have it down as one of my faves.

2022-04-11Very negative experience with the customer service associate looking at bringing in used clothing. After being disrespectful to the clothes and barely looking, gave me a paper to guide me with what to bring in that they will take. Ironically, I had about half the brands listed in my pile some with tags on them. The associate did not want to be bothered with actually looking. Went over to Platos closet where they happily took a majority of the items without questions. A very discouraging selling experience.

2022-07-19Very disappointed in the lack of plus size options. It was a fairly big store with LOTS of clothes, but I literally found ONE item in a 2X. The lack of inclusivity was honestly insulting and I will not be back

2022-07-30If i could give zero stars i would. Awful customer service and communication. The clothes were cute but i wouldn’t spend a dime there.

2022-02-19I just recently decided to visit this spot and was very impressed to find some good gems if your willing to go thru the clothing. Some things are pricey but others are not. Bought a brand new pair of Chinese Laundry wedges for $16 dollars. A great steal!!!! I would definitely recommend this place if you have a few extra dollars to spare for staple pieces!!!

2022-08-15The employees at this store are so rude and have attitude . And don’t even bother bringing anything here they barely look at it and won’t take it anyways. I will never be back. Horrible experience.
