The staff is very pleasant. The doctors take their time to explain your pets diagnosis and whats necessary to improve your pets health. You are given a itemized summary of the cost of treatment. And, the doctor calls with a follow-up on the results of the lab work if any.I have taken my pets here for 15 years. I am very satisfied with the service.
My thanks to the wonderful folks from theVCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital in Collage ParkI brought my Sugar in there and she was hurt badly broken arm and bites all over , I carried her in the front door of their emergency room. No shoes, no wallet, and with my brain injury it can be tricky to get the words out. They had me carry her to the operating theater where they got to work on fixing her up , and had me go to the front and get checked in , then the dr came to het me to explain the course of treatment he recomended, and then gave me all the options. The Dr. Is a very tall Ginger-man with a good heart and kindness writen on his face. He was patient with me and listened though my stammoring to be sure to answer my s so that i understood, the choices he was presenting. Then he went back and did the procedures we had discused . I was really upset because i could not afford to pay for my Sugars surgery , some of his nursing staff printed off the names and numbers of places that could help her and do the surgery for less even though we would be taking that money elsewhere. The Dr. and his staff put my needs and my sweet babygirls needs ahead of their own pocket and even exteded a ten % military discount off the price of the care provided. I wont forget the generous spirit that was alive within their walls and left knowing my dog would be ok and that there are some really exceptional people working at your hospital. Many thanks for myself and Sugar
I walked in through the doors of Briarcliff Animal Hospital at around 12:50am with my 13+ yr old shihtzu.I broke down in tears at the register explaining that something was wrong. The emergency doc on for the night was Dr. Bezdek. She came in and explained all the possibilities and brought 3 treatment plans depending on cost.Dr. Bezdek’s first suspicion was pancreatitis and she turned out to be right. My baby had to be hospitalized for 2 days while getting IV fluids, pain meds, and other meds. She was discharged on a few different medications for 3-5 days.I visited her a few times while she was in the ER.They let me visit all hours of the day/night. And they’d let me stay in a room with her to spend time. The vets and vet assistants were so nice and caring... I felt at ease that she was being well cared for.I see a lot of reviews referring to cost and lack of communication with their bill. For me, that was never the case. They were upfront about all the costs, brought me an itemized statement with that day’s estimated cost as well as future costs. And explained of the possibility of changes and that they’d call me if anything were to change with my bill.I noticed a sign in the rooms as well— to ask if you have any questions or concerns on the bill.If your pet is without insurance, I think it should be expected that the cost/bill will be very high. The vet called 2-3 times per day with updates at the beginning and the end of their shift.Communication was great from beginning to end. They also sent me a picture of her in her cage on one of the days ! I thought this was such a sweet thing. The docs I most communicated with was Dr. Bezdek, Dr. Powell and Dr. Rehm. They were all very nice and thorough and it was easy to trust my baby in their care. They even called twice to follow up after her discharge. She is currently doing very well and is almost back to her normal self.Overall, I’m extremely satisfied and my sweet girl would agree. They always answered the hundreds of questions I had or led me to someone who could. If anything were to happen again (praying not), I’ll definitely be taking her here!
I called today to schedule a first appointment for my puppy and to establish a relationship with the vet clinic, unfortunately I was not given an appointment. I think options should be available for 1st time puppy owners with a timeline from the breeder. I am in the search again for a reputable vet clinic in this area.
My cat was in care here and was misdiagnosed with end-stage CKD, although he did have kidney stones. He blocked, I got in on a cancellation appt. and charged an emergency visit, and I was advised to pay for surgery or otherwise possibly put him down. I moved my little fur kids care and got a second opinion only to find out other alternative surgeries were possible (other than stone extract) and that no CKD condition exists. I also noted in my cats Briarcliff medical records prior results or observations which were claimed to have been advised to me by voicemail (although not all of the information was provided - just to book another visit to be advised).Thankfully, we have a much better outcome with another vet for my little fur kid as he is doing amazing post-surgery!
Our precious, beloved Simba flew back to his heavenly star on February 5, 2020, after gracing us with his loyal presence for 15 years. VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital doctors and staff took outstanding care of Simba for most of his life and Ill be forever grateful for how they comforted my family on his last day with us. They even sent us a beautiful sympathy card with all their signatures, which meant so much to me and mine during our devastating time of grief. We love you all and thanks so much for all you do for the beautiful beings entrusted to your care.
Hated that I wasnt allowed to stay with my sick girl. They came and took her from me in the waiting room. I spoke to the vet 2x in the 4+ hours we spent there before being transferred to another emergency vet. Charged an astronomical rate for X-rays and ultimately were unable to assist with our problem.Ended up at VCA Briarcliff as other local emergency vets were at capacity and turned us away.
VCA is phenomenal! Their after hours care is great, their staff is always so helpful, and the doctors even call to check up on my pup after procedures. VCA is always careful to give me all of the options while candidly advising me which paths may be most practical for the circumstance - its great to not feel ripped off yet still know, with certainty, that Im doing all the right things I could be doing for my pup. Would definitely recommend.
This is the only vet I trust. My family have taken all of our animals here through the years and they are the only vets I trust. Their after hours and emergency care is great and convenient. Yes, it is expensive but to me, it’s worth the peace of mind knowing that my baby will get the best care!
Agree entirely with previous comments about serious drop off of care and services in the last two years. Been with Briarcliff since 2003. Previously very happy. Now, no appointments available for weeks, encouraged to use “ER” for even minor services (which is MUCH more expensive), staff increasingly rude, blood draws and other money making procedures increasingly encouraged. Asked for a referral this week after the one provided by Dr Floyd could not see my pet for a month. Was told that I should just keep the appointment a month away because “people are really busy these days.” Referral was ultimately provided after I complained. But whi needs grief from their vet among all things these days. Requested my pets records and moving onto a different vet. Sad, because it used to be a good place.
If your pet is in need of care, go here. They will love on your pet and take good care of them the way you want someone else to.Long post unto why;Its taken me a while to write this review but I feel like it is much needed. I came here with my cat, Lune, at the beginning of the month in the middle of the night for an emergency. He was taken to the back and I was told the doctor will look at him when she could since she was in an emergency. I later found out that the minute he came in she stoped what she was doing and took care of my baby. It doenst matter to me how long I waited as I knew he was being taken care off and I could not do anything for him but they could. Whatever they needed they had the okay from me. And they did, 100%; they kept checking on me (9months pregnant), and reassuring me that they were doing eveything they could. Dr. Byerly was over the top, even when it was time for her shift to end, she spent sometime with me and let me know what was happening with my Lune. They let me go see him in the back, they told me they will call me when they had more news. They did eveything for him and they made me feel at ease and let me cry. They offered him the best care he could have in his last hours. They were there for him with love. That day was the hardest day, I had Lune since he was 2 months old and now he was gone at 7yrs old; due to a heart problem. The staff was amazing under the circumstances. They sent us a letter with their condolensces, this touch me deeply. All in all, I was to say thank you to the staff that was there early Wednesday May1st and to the staff that helped me carry him to the car for his final ride (to another facility)Thank you, merci.
We have unfortunately had two bad experiences with two different pets we’ve taken to VCA Briarcliff. The most recent experience was today, when my dog was given a rabies shot that she had already gotten just two months prior at her previous vet. We had been transitioning our dog from a different vet over to VCA Briarcliff, and rather than asking for permission to give the rabies shot, they went ahead and gave it to her. This is unethical and unprofessional, and we would have gladly and easily shared her rabies certificate if the vet had simply asked. The other experience, with our cat, lasted several months. Our cat had been experiencing sporadic episodes of aggression, and we took him to VCA Briarcliff to help diagnose the issue. He had bloodwork and x-rays done, and the vet diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism, pointing us to specialists to have a procedure done. One of the specialists refused to see our cat after seeing the bloodwork because they stated he did not have that disease. On a subsequent visit, the vet said that our cat has a lesion growing on his tooth and that it should be surgically removed. We were surprised this wasn’t something that was noticed on his earlier check-up. We opted to wait to see if some medication would help our cat’s episodes, and we’ve not even heard a follow-up call from the vet to check on him in the three months since we last took him in.
Wow has this place fallen off a cliff. After taking my dog here for some 12 years, Im just happy to never have to step foot inside this vet again.Years ago the staff was friendly and helpful, the treatment was generally affordable, no nickle-and-dime-ing, no selling of care that wasnt needed. Now they will run you through the ringer to even make an appointment, and on arrival you should expect to shell out hundreds of dollars on care they tell you in necessary but is not (see multiple tooth cleaning complaints throughout reviews here, they will push a blood test every time youre there, etc.). And if your pets ailment cant wait for 3 entire weeks to get a regular appointment, then you have to bring them through ER, which is outrageously expensive. But dont get that confused with a triage center, because they dont do major operations at the ER. Its just another fee for having a pet with complications that need to be addressed within the month.I only learned that after we brought in our other dog last year with bloat/flipped stomach. They were happy to accept my dog to the ER, and happy to charge us for xrays before telling us that even if his stomach was flipped, they couldnt help him there! On top of that, there was no specialist in the building to read the xrays. They actually wanted us to sit there while my dogs chance of death increased by the second until someone who could read an xray arrived. So we ate the cost of a useless xray (only some $500) and rushed my dog to BluePearl, the only triage location in Atlanta. Did Briarcliff tell us that on the phone when we called to warn them of our arrival? No, because then they couldnt bill us! Fortunately my dog lived, with no thanks to Briarcliff. My latest complaint would be that my still-living, elderly dog was marked as inactive during Covid and they were unable or unwilling to bother locating her decade worth of records until I practically did it myself. The staff I spoke with was rude and terse, and ended the call responding to my thank you with a mhmm full of attitude. I couldnt be any more disappointed with an establishment Ive paid thousands to over the years treating me like I was a problem because I wanted to schedule an appointment and couldnt due to their own internal mistake.DO NOT use this establishment. Dont be fooled by the owner responding to reviews. It costs a lot more for them to provide decent service than to feign concern by typing up a paragraph after the fact. VCA is a national chain, meaning the bottom line is more important than community impact. Avoid any VCA if you can.If you live in the area, Ansley Animal Clinic is nearby. Id even go as far as to say my overall experiences with Banfield, which you can pretty much find at any PetsMart, is better than the last few years at Briarcliff. My family has brought six or seven pets here since 1999. We are done.Edit: My disappointment in this establishment continues to grow. I find the owners response to my review blaming the pandemic or related challenges for my experience absurd and inappropriate, as I fail to see the correlation. This is the attitude you risk engaging with by using VCA Briarcliff.
Be careful with this hospital. I have had dog insurance before but I have some head scratching, to what is really going on. I had a balance that I never knew about. I had to ask what the balance was. Then I was told that I asked them to do the treatment that was done but I didnt. I thought that was slick. If you have a puppy and you get the wellness care question everything. Once the puppy shots are up to date you are just making payments. I left because something happen and their story didnt make sense. I think it was mutual !! Its not what you think.
Like many folks we adopted a new pup during COVID, so we needed a new vet (our cats already go a cat specialist). Had several friends recommend VCA Briarcliff and weve had a great experience with them so far. The vets are always very thorough in their explanations of care (over the phone due to COVID precautions), the staff have always been friendly and helpful, and picking up medicine and paying (via app) are a breeze. Recently my pop got injured pretty badly while playing in our back yard and they were able to see him as soon as I arrived (with no appointment) and got him treated quickly and effectively. Very happy with our experience, and well continue to use VCA Briarcliff for all our pups needs.
I took my new puppy Ruby in on 4-12-2021 because she was experiencing a lot of vomiting and upset stomach and was dehydrated and was very concerning to me since we had only had her for 1 day. VCA took our call late night and saw us and made sure our little girl was safe. We even got a follow up call the next day, Ruby was fine and just needed some rest from the new environment and less food. VCA took care of us at no charge and went above and beyond!!! 5 stars. Kudos!
3 strikes and your out.I happily spent $ 2600 there for dog bloat and an ICU stay. Luckily my Lulabelle was ok. I then decided to use this Vet for future boarding.Number 1… Boarded my precious dog there and picked up after boarding and requested a bath prior to departure. I was assured this would happen, but upon arrival to pick up, no bath done . Just a sorry, we couldn’t do it. No big deal, but then came number 2.Number 2…. I picked up my dog from boarding and she was escorted to my car by a tech. The tech unleashed my dog in the parking lot prior to placing her safely in my car. The Vet is located on an extremely busy street. I ran and fell trying to grab her before she ran off. The manager apologized and stated that the tech was new and instructed her to never unleash dog until safely in car. I was angry but decided that everyone is new and to forgive the business.Number 3 …. I decided to use boarding services again. I called to see if bath was done prior to pick up. I was told no by the extremely unfriendly receptionist. I asked her to ask manager to make sure. She returned to the phone and then stated that the bath was done and it was unusual for someone to call and ask prior to pick up and usually that is all confirmed at pick up. I explained that I had a bad experience, where I waited till pick up and the bath was NOT done.Am I not allowed to call and inquire this prior to pick up????SOOOO, disappointed in this facility. I have promptly transferred my records to another Veterinarian. I have NEVER had so many issues and the level of inappropriate rudeness at any other Vet service in my lifetime. I have always been a pet parent.
Office manger dr azalea Boyd and regional manger Todd sanders ignore emails, lie and don’t care! They are way too busy and know they can get away with poor care. Dr Hillhouse forgot our dogs monthly medication, forgot to do a 3 blood pressure exams and was ugly. None of he management cared! They hate insurance and will not help you if you need assistance with an apeal. If you have insurance don’t go here. The thing is they suggest many dogs to get insurance but won’t help you if something comes up. Poor bed side manner. After awhile the poor treatment and poor reviews will catch up with them. However Corporate is no better. The CEO lets them get away with it. The company is just lazy and only cares about the dollar.
Extremely unprofessional and showed lack of compassion. I recently had an emergency with my dog, Kia, who had her spleen removed a month earlier with a cancerous mass. They took her in the back while I filled out the paperwork. While sitting in the waiting room, someone came and gave me an update...her vital were good but she was pale. They would watch her closely while waiting to see the doctor. While waiting in the waiting room, I received a call on my cell phone identified as VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital. Confused, as I was in the hospitals waiting room, I answered the phone. The person identified herself and told me I need to think about Kias quality of life, that she has internal bleeding and I need to consider putting her down. I was also told I could have her rushed to another hospital for emergency surgery to see if she could be saved but the meditcal opinion was that is was not good. I needed to meak a decision in the next 15 minutes. I let the caller know I was in the wating room. She said she knew. I was horrified at the way I was treated. This conversation should have been privately and face to face...not a phone call while I was waiting in the waiting room.I filled a complaint on their corporate website and asked that someone contact me so we can discuss this in more detail. That was over 2 weeks ago and no one has contacted me.
I love Briarcliff Animal Clinic! I’ve been a loyal customer for four years, and completely trust them to care for my Pomeranian, Nina. Specifically, Dr. Amanda Hayes is our doctor and we just love her so much!Briarcliff is always up front about cost, and updates me via email when my dog is due for shots and well visits. I’ve never had an issue getting my dog in during an emergency illness, and I very much appreciate that they are open 24/7. Highly recommend!
When I lived in Georgia, this was the place I took all my fur babies for treatment. They saved the lives of several of my babies over the years. They worked with me when I was struggling financially. Dr. Muller was my vet there and he was wonderful. I wish there was one here in Texas. These folks are the BEST, and if I ever can get back home to Georgia, they will again be my vet of choice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your many kindnesses over the years. Your professionalism is second to none and your care of my fur babies was stellar. ❤️Candy D.
My puppy has had worms since I got her and this place has done nothing but take my hard earned money and not treat her but instead misdiagnose her. This place is a scam there’s never any appointments and they don’t truly care if you ask me. I dropped a fecal specimen off and they stated they left a voicemail stating she had worms again but didn’t send me an email with her test results like they did the first time. This place is trash please don’t waste your money like I did.
If you dont have a lot of money dont bother going here. My dog swallowed a piece of cloth and I called after hours to see what I needed to do. Unfortunately, I dont have a lot of money, but I love my dog. 165 dollars to get him to vomit and I asked about a payment plan which they cant do. Ive been going to vca for almost 10 years and always paid my bill through everything and this one time where something might be serious I cant get a little help. I asked if there was a home remedy and she couldnt even tell me that, just google. Seriously, couldnt even help me find a home remedy because I dont have 165 dollars at the moment. I tried to pay half and pay the rest Friday 11/20 and they couldnt do it. Im hoping my little guy is ok, but thanks for absolutely nothing VCA.
We have been taking our animals to Briarcliff Animal Hospital for at least five years and have been extremely happy with the care provided by Dr. McNamee and Dr. Fowler. Unfortunately, when our cat got sick unexpectedly, we were not able to see either one of them, but trusted our cat would get proper care. The treatment he received was substandard, to say the least. Our cat was exhibiting signs of discomfort in his mouth, as well as uncontrollable, constant drooling. He was also no longer eating and as a result, had lost a significant amount of weight. The staff took him back, examined him and the vet called us to discuss treatment. They advised us that they would not be able to view inside his mouth, because he is a cat, and would need to put him under to properly assess the issue. Their earliest appointment was over 4 weeks out for this, which we scheduled ASAP. They drew blood & urine for testing and advised us that they would call with the results. A few days later, they called and stated the results depicted nothing was wrong, everything was normal. Our cat continued to lose weight and appeared physically uncomfortable, which we called and told the receptionist REPEATEDLY, who responded with no help, no suggestions, and frankly sounded annoyed with us calling. At this point, I did not think my cat would make it to his appointment, so I called another vets office in Midtown for a second opinion. They were able to see him that same day. The care given to our cat was 200% better and more thorough than BAH felt he required. Not only was the vet able to see inside his mouth, she was able to take numerous photos inside his mouth to show us the ulcer inside his mouth. Further, they reviewed the bloodwork taken by Briarcliff and advised us that it clearly depicted that he had an infection of some sort. They gave him IV fluids, started him on antibiotics and pain meds. They advised us that he would need surgery to extract a broken tooth, which we scheduled ASAP. A week later, I dropped him off for surgery, assuming it was going to be okay, hours later, I received a call from the new vet, who told me that they could not perform the surgery, as they found a tumor under his tongue, which was likely cancerous. Due to the fact that he was 14, we opted not to put him through any further pain and ultimately decided to put him down, which is something I WAS NOT expecting at all. Our cat ultimately suffered for close to a month because of the poor treatment received at Briarcliff and the inadequate, insensitive people who answer the phones there, who ultimately decide the fate of your pet and whether or not they should alert the vets when patients call. We WILL NOT be going back.
Dr. Rachel Williams is simply the best at what she does. Shes been my dogs veterinarian for multiple years now, and the effort she puts into providing the best care and *client* experience never ceases to amaze me. I cannot recommend her enough if you are looking for the personal touch for your pets care, she will care for yours as if her own and explain everything along the way.
Update: The last few times Ive taken my cat to Birarcliff, weve had long waits and its always a different vet. The care my cat receives is fine, but Im considering looking somewhere else, as it seems things arent as great as they used to be.I absolutely love this animal clinic. All of the front desk staff are friendly and professional. I had a hard time finding a vet in the area that my cats are OK with, and I finally found them. Dr. Reeve and all of the vet technicians Ive interacted with are top notch!
I had an awesome experience at VCA! Everyone was very kind, intentional, and efficient. My dog always gets nervous at the vet but because of the excellent bedside manner and care from the staff, she did great. I did not feel like they were rushing through our visit. They answered all of my questions and saw that I felt confident in the things that we discussed. Will definitely return!
I am so grateful to everyone at this wonderful animal hospital. All the assistants and techs were so thoughtful and kind, to my dog and also to me. I felt like his care was their top priority, and they were willing to discuss whatever minor potential concerns I had. When they discovered that he needed to have a tooth extracted ASAP, they got me an appointment within 3 days, and gave my baby painkillers and antibiotics to help him with the pain. Hes his perky self again!
I’ve had a bad feeling about this place from the beginning. But after taking my dog to a vet that actually cares about the pet vs $$$, I will never go back.My very first visit, before I even saw the doctor, a non-vet came in with an estimate for teeth cleaning and was told it was based on age. BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED AT MY DOG. And every time after, they led with teeth cleaning. My dog has some tartar, halitosis but I wasn’t biting on the cleaning (more on this below).I met 3-4 different vets and all of them came off as arrogant and ‘take it or leave it’. We spent some money trying to find out why my dog was having stomach issues. No real concern about his diarrhea or even blood in his stool. Just more and more tests.I asked for any potential diet options and we got him on a prescription diet and it seemed to ease his gastro issues. And that was enough for them.Earlier this year he had a tumor removed (he’s 4). Ever since that surgery he’s been lethargic and cold. Mentioned this on both of the dr check-ins after the surgery and no concern.Fast forward to September and diarrhea is back. It’s vicious. Luckily, I was traveling and had to hit up another vet hospital. After one blood test, they quickly became suspicious of endocrine disease and ordered an additional test. BAM! hypothyroidism. Except it was so severe at this point because Briarcliff ignored the signs for TWO YEARS. It required IV thyroid medicine that the vet of 30 years had never had to do before. You know what cleared up immediately? The halitosis. The lethargy. The diarrhea. My pup is on the mend but I cannot stress how negligent his care was with VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital. We will be looking for a new vet upon returning to Atlanta.
Briarcliff Animal Clinic (Emory Morningside location) is the best vet Ive had. Long service hours minimize the number of emergency visits I have to pay for—and its an emergency vet as well, meaning the service and location is familiar when it is a true emergency. Every vet Ive met with takes their time with me, is competent and kind, and prices are fair. Wish Id found them years ago, I have a feeling I could have saved a lot of money and stress. Facilities are always clean and they have ample waiting room space and even a separate cat owner waiting room, minimizing stress for pets. Cant speak highly enough of Briarcliff Animal Clinic and the services they provide.
I went into Briarcliff Animal Clinic last night with my 2 and a half year old pit bull pup that had hives all over his face and they did not seem to be going down. I was very nervous, but when I walked in everyone was so nice and welcoming and personable that my nerves immediately went away. My dog is very very protective of me, but they were never weary of him and were very patient. Once they took him out of the room (away from me), although still nervous, when he returned to the room his hives looked 100x better and was acting very comfortable there and with the Staff. When it came to payment, I wasnt sure what to expect. You never know with 24/7 vets because they can change their visit fee tremendously. But the fee for a visit was $85, plus the treatment my pup needed. It was not bad at all, and I could have easily paid much more for the emergency visit. Additionally, the entire visit took me at most 1 hour from entrance to payment. The waiting room was not too busy, so that had a little to do with the time also, but last time I was in a situation like this one it was at least an hour and a half for them to even tell me what was going on with my dog.Between the reasonable price, but even more importantly the AMAZING Staff that I encountered, are the reasons I gave this vet 5-stars. If you have an emergency in this area or are looking for a new vet, I would highly recommend this place.Thank you so much Briarcliff Animal Hospital!Taylor and Banks
I brought my cat in on a Saturday to be treated for tapeworms (yuck). I had never been to Briarcliff Animal Clinic before, but was quickly impressed with the staffs kindness and efficiency. I was seen within 30 min of checking in, after calling ahead, and my cat was given the treatment she needed. I will be returning in the future for my cats health needs!
The last strike was when Briarcliff Animal Clinic called me to ask how my pet was doing 24 hours after they euthanized her. Communication, setting proper expectations around when treatment is occurring, callbacks, and general note taking is abysmal at Briarcliff Animal Clinic.I spent ~$5,000 treating my pet over the course of 4 days with the understanding that my pet would be in great care. While I was not promised she would make it, I was told that treatment (medication, checking vitals, etc) would occur in 10-15 minutes after when I asked. In reality it would take up to an hour or more, which is concerning when they had told me my pet was listed in critical condition. I was told I would receive callbacks multiple times to help inform my decision on treatment or euthanasia which did not occur in a timely manner. I had to continuously reach out hours and occasionally days later to get the information I asked for, increasing costs and delaying treatment of my pet. I was told that information would be passed along to the right people (doctors to provide an update, offer options on treatment), only for me to have to call back and be provided excuses as to why something may not have occurred as it should. The lack of accountability by the administration team is not on par with a service that deals with life and death situations. After speaking in detail to their medical staff I believe Briarcliff did their job adequately treating my pet given the circumstances, but their administrative side is terrible. When time is of the essence, these administrative and clerical errors only add to costs and reduce the likelihood of your animal making a healthy recovery. I will not recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic to anyone that needs emergency services, and would recommend going to Blue Pearl or The Ark.
I had an emergency situation with a stray cat that I feed and look after. My regular vet was closed and none of the urgent care locations I called could get me in. Fortunately I found the Briarcliff Animal Clinic. They have the best hours of any vet I have ever seen. They told me to come in right away. I made it within 30 minutes or so. They took my cat in to be checked right away. A short time later the doctor came to tell me what she recommended we do. She was very kind and considerate. She knew this was a stray and without me even asking she put together a plan that would be good for the cat but would also not cost me a small fortune. I was in and out in less than an hour. I highly recommend this clinic and I will definitely be back.
Vet was very nice. Services are overpriced. I was charged for a fecal exam but my dog was not given one. Every time I’ve visited I spent hundreds of dollars for a healthy pup. A lot of the practice seems ingenuineAlso, the groomer is scarily rude. She shaved my dog though I asked for him to just be trimmed. Then she sent me texts trying to convince me that his fur was marred/he must be shaved. Very creepy experience. Will find new vet and groomer.
I brought my cat in as an emergency. After dropping him off I did not hear back for several hours, when a vet finally called me back I was informed that the cause was unknown but that he was dehydrated and had one *known* parasitic infection but it was unclear as to whether either of these were causing my cats illness. I was told that it would be best to leave my cat over night, and if you know anything about overnight stays they are enormously expensive. When I called the following day I could not get ANY vet on the phone. I called three times starting early morning until before before mid afternoon. I still didn’t hear back until evening when a vet told me that the cause was still unknown but recommended several procedures that still would not guarantee results and cost near $2,000. I told this person to disregard anything that wasn’t vital but only managed to get the bill down to around $1,200. When I was finally told, two hours later, that I could pick up my cat the man in contact with me (I didn’t hear anything from a vet after the previous call) was extremely reluctant to allow me to even see my pet before I paid and when I informed him that I didn’t have anywhere close to the billing amount he rebuked again that he didn’t think that would be allowed and he would have to contact the billing person but that she had left for the day. I waited for 1 1/2 hours in the parking lot before this person finally came back and had informed me that he still couldn’t get in contact with the billing department person but made his own decision to allow me to have my animal as long as I paid as much as I could (MAY CAT WAS RANSOMED). I had to put a $500 charge on my credit card that I still have not been able to pay off but still managed to pay an additional $350 from my debit card, and to boot have lost my job. My cat is still vomiting, still under weight to which I am struggling to take care of myself or face losing my cat. I am being hounded for payment and still even after calling today and explained this entire situation I am positive that my remaining $304 bill will now be sent to collections while I am broke and jobless and my cat is still struggling for his health. I am VERY DISPLEASED with my service and it is very, very clear that all this animal hospital only cares for collecting payment for the least amount of results possible. And additionally after I received a call back today (12/28/20) as I was requested to do I was told that it was pretty much my fault. Terrible customer service, just awful really. The manager, Brian, really just called to tell me that it was my fault after the fact because I hadn’t called back, even after explanation that I was busy with work (at the time) and then with looking for a job after I’d lost mine; as well that I didn’t have the money for further examination. He said that I may not have had to pay if I had called sooner, but it’s really easy to tell me that three months after (which he had told me three times).Having a pet is not and should not be treated as a privilege only for the rich
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!Brought my dog for a late night appointment limping with a swollen paw. I was told it was an infection and $312 later She received a shot, and take home medication. I was told it may take some time for the antibiotics to show noticeable improvement, that I she be kept from licking her paw, and call back if I saw no improvement.Three days later and without much improvement, I was told to come in for xrays to check for fractures, among other possibilities. When I pointed out that she had been walking on that foot for three days, and why a break or fracture wasnt ruled out first, I was told the doctor didnt think it was necessary then. When I asked how It could be necessary now when it wasnt WHEN IT FIRST happened....I didnt get an answer. They said they would have to run the case through another doctor and admin to determine whether or not they felt how her exam/ no X-Ray ordered on the first visit would warrant crediting the money from the first visit to any follow up visits, ect. It took a few moment to get a time line. To their credit the call back was quick, although in my opinion I felt their main concern was money, and not my dogs current condition or well being.****HERES THE WORST PARTI pointed out I had already paid $312 for an appointment and now my dog had possibly spent three days on pain meds walking around on a broken fractured foot, and while I am NOT a healthcare provider for any of Gods creatures, felt in my opinion a break/fracture should be ruled out first. They told me I could bring her back in for a free re evaluation visit, but would be expected to pay for X-rays, and all other needs. They did refund 110.00 for the appointment cost, BUT SAID THE $212 OF MEDICATION THEY GAVE HER WOULD BE USED IF SHE HAD A FRACTURE OR BREAK SO THEY WOULD NOT REFUND THAT AMOUNT...EVEN WHEN I POINTED OUT THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO FIND OUT IF SHE DID HAVE A FRACTURE OR BREAK OR PROVIDE ANY TREATMENT REQUIRED IF THAT WERE THE CASE.I feel like Im in the twilight Zone....
Dr. Muller was the most amazing Vet today and I couldn’t be more grateful! He was so attentive, thorough, explained everything to me, assured me when I was about to have a panic attack, and especially, worked with me around my financial limitations to ensure we could assess and treat properly but also avoid hospitalization. The Techs are always so sweet as well. I had to put my other dog down last year at Briarcliffe and couldn’t ask for a more thoughtful team of Vets and Techs. Dr. Fowler was amazing throughout that horrific experience and Dr. Reid also was incredibly helpful yesterday when I took my baby in as an emergency patient. So grateful for Briarcliff Animalhospital!
Briarcliff Animal Clinic is fantastic and I highly recommend them. They have excellent customer service, highly trained staff that are experts at what they do, their affection for the animals is obvious and they are open at night and on weekends. My first experience with them made a huge impression. I had moved to the area about a year prior but was still using my dogs original Vet. I saw an injured stray limping down Briarcliff on a Friday afternoon in heavy traffic and pouring rain. I and another woman pulled over to rescue the dog. It was obvious she was injured and bleeding internally. Her ABD was swelling and she was having trouble breathing. We called animal control but they said it would take over an hour. We called over a dozen animal clinics and none of them would allow us to bring her in. Except Briarcliff Animal Clinic. They saw her immediately, did a CT and X-rays but were unable to save her. The treated her pain and euthanized her for me. She had no tag or chip so we were unable to identify her or her owners. They gave me a tremendously discounted rate on her care and the Vet who saw us was so kind and empathetic that I knew immediately that this was a wonderful place for pets!
My dog Sadie came here for an emergency visit over the weekend & had fantastic care, especially given such crazy circumstances with COVID-19. The vet, Dr. Willey, was patient and kind and thorough in our phone calls and her examination of my baby. Sadie had an exam, shot for nausea & bloodwork (the following day) performed here, & Dr. Willey was happy to explain how she was tackling discovering the problem & also was able to provide 3 different payment options as vet bills can obviously get expensive, & we want to make the best choices for our babies but also our wallets, where possible! Purely due to a personal friends recommendation, I moved her to a different hospital for the more extensive care she needed but I know it would have been amazing at Briarcliff, too. I even called to let Dr. Willey know what had happened, & she had already followed up with the second hospital. I am very thankful for the care at Briarcliff & ability to act quickly for such an emergent situation.
Briarcliff Animal Hospital is great. Weve been clients since we moved to Atlanta more than seven years ago. Dr. Busch added significantly to the quality of life of our geriatric dog and cats, and gave us peace of mind knowing we were giving them the best care and love possible. She has been a superstar with our crazy young dog and arthritic senior baby. We especially love that she is willing to help us with our questions over e-mail and is speedy to respond to all our needs. When Dr. Busch has been unavailable, we have seen Dr. Floyd, Dr. Willy, and others and been impressed with them as well. The staff is always friendly and professional. We want the best for our furry children and feel like weve found it with Briarcliff!
I’ve seen great reviews and horrible ones which is why I believe as much input by customers is crucial. I had a unexpected emergency visit with my dog a little over a week ago and this was the closest facility to my home so I took a chance since it was rated well. The staff was excellent and walked me through what to expect upon arrival as well as super caring with my animal and myself during check-in and getting him seen as soon as possible. Not only was I in and out of there in less than two hours but they were able to work with me on the cost for something that was quoted at almost $1,000.00 and I only ended up paying $340.00.I was updated often and My pup has had a full recovery so I will be back to follow up and hopefully have a long term vet office.
My cat was having a bad spell of asthma, I took him to the urgent care at Briarcliff Animal Clinic. My cat was treated and is doing much better. We were treated very well, plans were discussed with us, my cat is feeling much better. I really appreciated the warmth and knowledge of the emergency vet and the compassion of the other personnel at this facility. Thanks! Great job!
I have been taking my new puppy here for about two months. I will not be back. Puppy threw up and had bad diarrhea. Not sure what caused it - food had not changed. The vet examined the dog and said no blood in stool, but options include $500 + for xray to rule out foreign object, something for stomach, bland diet ($270). When I pressed about whether it was necessary for a x-ray given his condition and exam - she backed off. Seems to me that people here are competent, but they are pushing costly and unnecessary treatments to boost the bottom line.
Had a super great experience at VCA at 12a this morning because of an emergency with my puppy son, Copper. Before we left the house, I was in tears and very worried. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted (everyone was pleasant!), taken care of, and waited all of 15-20minutes in the puppy patient room for the doctor to let us know what was wrong/next steps. Dr. Reid was sweet + super knowledgeable, showed us how to give him his medicine & we were on our way! thanks so much, VCA staff for helping us with our busy pups. we are so appreciative!✨
I took my cat here for the first time this week and they took incredible care of her, even with the covid-19 protocols. From the immediate attention to the in-depth in exam and tests they ran for her, they gave me so much good information about my pet. Also, I received a phone call from Dr. Warmington (the vet who cared for my cat) the following day, and she spent time explaining my cats test results and answering every question I had. I would highly recommend this veterinarian to anyone who wants quality care for their pet.
I love going to Briarcliff Animal clinic! The staff is always very nice and always answers our questions and if not sure will go ask a vet on staff to find the answers to our questions. I have never had a problem with the staff. We even live around 30+ minutes depending on traffic just to go to Dr. Busch. We had tried other veterinarians in our area, but none compared to Dr. Busch. Our cat loves her and is always relaxed around Dr. Busch compared to other veterinarians. Also, whenever we go to Dr. Busch when our cat is sick the cat always goes out of her office feeling a little better and on the cats way to recovery.I would highly recommend Briarcliff Animal clinic to anyone who is looking for a veterinarian.
I brought my Russian tortoise here earlier this week. He was in desperate need of a beak trim and nail trim. It was his first time to the vet since I got him and I was so nervous. I called ahead for a quote and the estimated cost was around $105 (including the exam and trimmings) but once i got there it ended up being around $140 because he needed to be sedated in order to trim his beak. A slight price jump, but very worth it. Cats and exotic animals have their very own entrance which is nice. We were greeted with awesome smiling faces and they treated Liam (my tortoise) like a celebrity. Dr.Fowler gave me some great tips to improve his enclosure and printed it off for me so I did not have to memorize it. They warned me that the sedation would take a couple days to fully wear off and get him back to normal. It has been a few days and he is doing great. Everyone was very respectful and helpful. Will be back.
My girlfriend and I were thrilled with our experience taking our dog here for the first time. We recently adopted a terrier mix from the Dekalb County Animal Shelter, and hes a sweet dog but is often nervous in new places and around new people. The staff at the Briarcliff Animal Clinic did a wonderful job making him feel comfortable. Dr. Murdock was very warm and gentle with our dog, and he immediately went from nervous to calm and happy. Dr. Murdock and the rest of the staff were very helpful with getting his medical history sorted out, giving him a thorough checkup, and getting him up to date on his vaccinations, which were also complementary with the wellness exam. My only marginal complaint is that we were left to wait a while at a couple points while getting paperwork sorted and then again before we could check out after our exam, but all together, we had a great experience with our Vet here and will certainly be coming back.
We LOVE Briarcliff Animal Clinic. We have two large dogs and Dr. Hedge is great with them. The staff is always friendly, they love our pets and although its not the most convenient location (based on where we live), we feel its worth the drive. The free vaccinations are super helpful too! I recommend them whenever I can!
Another great experience at Briarcliff Animal Clinic. My dog even loves it so much that she doesnt get anxious going there. She loves the attention from the very friendly and helpful staff who seem to truly care about the animals. And Dr. Hedge is the best! She listens, advises, and you can tell she enjoys her work with animals.
I made an appointment recently (2 weeks ago) and we are all dealing with COVID-19 so I wasn’t expecting usual service but upon arriving I called and spoke with someone at the front desk for clarity. I explained my reason for wanting to make an appointment, for Venus (my cats name). I told them about how she was due for her updated shots and about some concerns I’ve had about her since mingling with my roommates cat. Well at my appointment nothing was really addressed to me. All I was told was that she has a slight fever and that they didn’t see any signs of anything really wrong (which couldn’t be true because my cat was sick. It clearly showed) and they also didn’t give her any shots that day except one to bring down her fever. And antibiotics because “nothing is wrong with her but just in case” On the call with the vet before bringing her back out to me they said they would want to see her again in 2 weeks but no one made an attempt to even schedule a follow up and no one has followed up with me about her since. They took nearly $200 from me for nothing. I went because it was close to my Buckhead home but I’ve been to less popular clinics with much better service and care. I’m very disappointed. I don’t pay, especially in these times, to not get positive results. I will not be coming back here. If you love your animal reconsider bringing them here. My friend recommended her vet who have not lost their desire to still thoroughly care for animals.
Our tiny furbaby needed emergency attention late Saturday night. I am so thankful for the caring, wonderful staff that was available to take care of her. I have since spoken with someone else there on the phone, equally as wonderful. I trust them to take great care our pets. Briarcliff Animal Clinic is now our new veterinarian clinic. I recommend them to everyone.
My vet recently joined the Briarcliff group and I was a little hesitant as he previously had a small clinic. But everyone was great! Its a little bit further drive but Ill do it to keep seeing Dr. Allen and what seems to be a great staff at Briarcliff! Prices are very reasonable as well. Also pleased to see longer hours in case something comes up after typical business hours.
I wish I could rate the doctors and office staff separately. The doctors are great but the pure lack of any type of organization from the office staff is making seek out a vet for my fur babies.I have been to the clinic three times in the last month and each time has gotten increasingly frustrating. The first time one of my babies wasnt feeling great so I called in to see if I could get an appointment. You cant do that. Its either pay for an emergency appointment or call back at 7am to get a same day sick appointment if they have one. Sorry, if my baby is sick Im not playing the waiting game. He saw the dr for all of five minutes and when I spoke to the doctor he said my baby would be right out. So I waited and I waited. An hour later no baby. I call and the office staff tells me I cant have my baby back because discharge papers havent been signed. He had to spend a full day there for a five minute operation because no one would ask the doctor to sign the paper.Second time - he had to have dental surgery. I called three weeks in advance to schedule the appointment. No one that answered the phone could tell me anything about the procedure or what to expect. They just wanted to know if 9am would work for a drop off time. The day before the surgery they call to remind me and tell me he needs to be there no later than 8am.Dr. Hillhouse was awesome at keeping me up to date before, during and after the procedure.Unfortunately, no one gave me a quote for the procedure so I ended up thinking I was getting an under $600 bill and ended up close to $2000 bill.I was told I could pick up my baby after 7pm. I was in the parking lot at 7:05pm and the front office staff informed me they needed time to get the paperwork in order. They had all day to do that and I let them know when they called to give me the pick up time I would be there.Today- the final straw. We had a 3:15 check up. I get there and have called them to come get my baby at 3:08pm. I was told this was a five minute in and out check up. When did I get my baby back? 4:20pm. I called 20 minutes after I had heard from the Dr.Hillhouse that he would be right out to me. The office staff member that picked up the phone giggled and said he didnt have my baby discharged. Then the vet team member that brought him out almost gave him to the wrong person.Thats when I called asked for my vet records. Which now that i see the vet records that were given to me. They are not complete records of my fur babies care. When I came to this vet three years ago I brought full medical records since adoption. Those where not given back to me. X-rays and medical knows from a ER trip that I proved is not Included either.
I am Patti Ellis... not sure why it keeps coming up as my husband ...I have used Briarcliff Animal Clinic for the past 10 years...as long as I have lived in the Intown area. They are always so wonderful. I have used many different doctors there when I needed a specific time for an appointment and have never been disappointed. This past Sunday, I had an emergency with my dog. When we arrived at the emergency clinic we were seen right away. Sadly my sweet Emma passed away..totally heart breaking. Dr. Reid and the staff were so very kind to us. I will never forget their kindness to me in my time of great despair. Patti Ellis
Terrible customer service. Mediocre veterinary care. Ive been in veterinary medicine 8 years and Im not impressed, to say the least. Veterinarian turn over is very high which means theyre hiring either: vets fresh out of school, or soon on their way to retirement; either way youre not getting consistently good medical attention. Pretty consistent with VCA practices in general. Thought I would give this one a chance, since the reviews were good, but even the review average has come down in the past year, so I can assume a lot of people are having experiences similar to mine. Professional advice: dont waste your money or time.
Clean, smells clean (important with scared animals), staff friendly / kind to me and my pet who did not want to be there. Separate entrance for Dogs and Cats, which I did not appreciate until I noticed the peace now provided. Always kind to my pet, call him by his name, they asked if I was ok with the charges I was going to incur.. which in my younger life would have been important but now I see as a form of business I respect and appreciate. You may find a cheaper clinic, but I feel that Briarcliff Animal is a Value Added experience that is more than a visit but a long term investment in not only my pet my own sanity to know he is with professionals.
Wonderful clinic with kind and helpful employees. My dogs have always been very relaxed when visiting this clinic because the employees are so gentle and sweet with them. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for somewhere to take their pet - they will be well taken care of!! They also have the 24/7 emergency service which is excellent so you dont have to take your pet somewhere sketchy in an emergency situation. On top of that, they are very upfront about costs and will work with you to best take care of your pet within the amount you can afford.
Fantastic top-notch veterinarians and clinic. Ive been bringing my canine here for years and obviously overdue for a review. Although my dog doesnt like going to the Vet (even though he gets treats every time by the nice staff!), Im confident bringing my Dog here knowing he will receive top-notch care at a reasonable price with a great staff of caring individuals. We were just there for annual check-up and vaccinations and the front-desk crew even knew him by name! Unfortunately it was a stressful visit for my Dog, but the staff all handled it well, Dr Williams was so empathic and gave us extra time, saying she understands that Dogs can have bad days too. Dr McNamee and Dr Williams are two stand-out Drs that weve met, but everyone has been great. Bottom line is, Ive needed a Vet I could count on for a few emergencies and routine care, and I highly recommend ALL of the Drs, Techs, Staff and Briarcliff Animal Clinic as a whole. To everyone at Briarcliff Animal Clinic - THANK YOU all for taking such great care of my canine kid!!
Brought both my cat and dog in for a yearly check up an vaccines. The reception are was clean and not crowded. They offered me a beverage while I waited. The exam room was clean and Dr. Murdock was great with both our cat and our 12 year boxer mix. She was thorough in her explanation of my dogs blood work and what further testing he would need. My only complaint is that they seem to be significantly pricier then others in the area.
Being a caretaker for multiple cats, both indoor and the many quasi-feral cats in my neighborhood who adopted me, I spent a lot of time and money over the past 7 years at the Emory/Morningside Briarcliff Animal Clinic. And it was worth EVERY PENNY. I almost always had Dr. Elizabeth Busch attend to my charges because she is absolutely fantastic with cats. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She is calm and kind and methodical, always allowing the kitties plenty of time to adjust to her presence. She always provided the highest quality care, while also offering options that fit my budget. As a rule, the staff at E/M Briarcliff were friendly, courteous, and professional. I highly recommend both the clinic and Dr. Busch.
I have been to this location three times for different emergencies, and walked away unimpressed each time. However, this last visit I found unacceptable. My rescue was vomiting nonstop, so I brought him in. He is very skittish and untrusting because he was beaten by his previous owner. They informed me afterward that they had muzzled him because he was growling when they were trying to take his temperature. I understand that safety is the priority, but had they simply consulted with me first, they would know that he would NEVER bite a human being, that he just needs to be held and given love while they take his temperature. And then they seemed surprised that he urinated himself - he was terrified! At least speak with me before you muzzle a rescue - I was infuriated. My pup ended up having to be hospitalized for the night. The following day, they called me to pick him up, gave me no details on what might have happened or what might be wrong, no prescription or special diet, they just took our $2,000 and sent us out. Not even 4 hours after we got home, he started experiencing the same exact symptoms. We called to try to get a prescription for anti-nausea and they refused. We now go to a different veterinarian for both of our rescues. Steer clear unless you absolutely have to go here.
VCA Briarcliff Animal Clinic / Hospital has been wonderful for me and my dog Bentley, a 10-year old chocolate labrador retriever. Everyone there, from the office staff, to technicians, and the veterinarians always treat Bentley like hes their own dog, which I very much appreciate. And Bentley loves everyone there as well. VCA Briarcliff Animal Clinic is always available whenever I need to make an appointment for Bentley, or if Ive needed to bring in Bentley in an emergency situation. I cant thank them enough for their treatment and care of my dog Bentley!
Two things:First- I was told I’d be getting back test results for my cat, Zuma by 7am the next day. I arrived at 7:30pm the night before. These results were important to know what step to take next. He had a blocked urethra and was unable to pee. I never received them until two days later, and I had already taken my kitty to another vet who got me those same results within 2 hours. I never got a refund even after calling to say I already got these results from another vet. I couldn’t wait on Briarcliff’s lab for results because my cats bladder was completely blocked with crystals and he needed relief instantly. I called two different people at Briarcliff asking for even half a refund and they both told me “that’s not going to happen”. Never going back and telling everyone not to trust them with their babies.Second- The vet on duty gave me 2 options for pricing and treatment. The first was WAY too expensive ($4000) and included way too many steps that were definitely NOT needed. The second option was for $850 which included muscle relaxers and an antibiotic... that’s it!! The muscle relaxers did NOT work, so I took my cat to another location. The vets at the second location told me the antibiotic dose given by Briarcliff was way too small for how many crystals were in his bladder. It was a complete waste of my money and I will not be going back. ALL they care about is the money. Find somewhere else!
I had switched from another vet and I have been here for many years with many cats and dogs. They have always been available, accommodating and most of all, they have been kind. The entire staff and doctors made us feel comfortable, even when my pet was nervous about the situation. I appreciate their knowledge and skills. They always had a solution. Thank you everyone
We have been clients at Briarcliff Animal Clinic for more than 20 years. 3 cats and 3 dogs. Very pleased with the treatment they have all received. The doctors are caring and compassionate whether treating a new puppy or helping at the most difficult time with elderly dogs.
The staff here is incredibly kind, quick on their feet, and full of information. The wait time is not bad at all, and they actually immediately took my pooch to the back when I arrived to get started on his assessment. The only downside to the incredible service here is that it is MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than other emergency vets that offer the same services. That is the only reason I wouldnt return here.Overall, the service was fantastic and they got my Boxer back to 100% with their due diligence.
I brought my cat in for a obstruction. They gave him fluids and an x-ray (bringing my total up to $623) and they wanted to keep him on an IV for the rest of the day, which would have brought my total up to $2000+ which just wasnt an option for me. I decided to bring him home to give supportive care and watch his condition. Ive been bringing him in for fluids everyday and they have been extremely unresponsive. I have been calling them with my questions and spent hours on hold. On top of that they lost the medical records I brought him in with and havent shared valuable information with me such as his temperature, how large his obstruction is, etc. This vet is extremely expensive and the care isnt great.
I love this place. Have only lived in Atlanta now for 4 months and have taken my pup here 3 times. Just yesterday she had a full check up, everyone was so thoughtful and welcoming and nice. The vet prescribed we give my girl a tbsp of canned pumpkin with her food being that she has soft dookie problems, and Luna has already improved since yesterday! Also, the fact that they are open through the night at times is so nice being that we had a scare with my pup a couple months ago in the middle of the night. GO HERE! You wont regret it.
We just adopted a rescue dog and brought him in for a initial check. We both had grown up with dogs, but had not had one in many years. Dr. Busch was great! she took her time with us and addressed all our questions and concerns. This was our first time at the office and I would recommend them to everyone.
All of the staff that I dealt with was very friendly. The vet took the time to do a thorough examination of my dog and offer a couple of different options for care. I was very happy not to be guilted into taking the most extreme and expensive route. In the end, my dog is doing great and I spent a ton less than I could have. I made my appointment for late in the afternoon so I did have to wait a little bit, but they were dealing with some emergency care situations and let me know, so I was fine with a short wait.
We had a cocker spaniel for 15 years that we always brought to Briarcliff Animal Clinic. Our little Sugar would get so excited to visit her doctors and everyone else there! The staff were always very accommodating and helpful, and she received excellent veterinary care. It has been four years since we lost our precious Sugar, and we have just adopted a puppy from the Atlanta Humane Society. Our first stop was Briarcliff Animal Clinic, where we were confident that she, too, would get the very best of care!
I called Briarcliff Animal Clinic for a quote on a laparoscopic neuter surgery because only one of my dog’s testicles had descended. I told them all the information they needed to give me an accurate estimate (the undescended testicle was not palpable anywhere in the abdomen, etc.), but they insisted that I had to come into the office for a face-to-face consultation with the vet. The clinic is difficult to pull a car into, and parking is a challenge. Once inside, I waited 10 minutes before being greeted, even though I was one of three customers there. The receptionists were cold at best. After another 20 minutes of waiting, my dog and I were escorted to an exam room. It was 2 hours before a vet came in to give my dog his consultation—the one this clinic INSISTED upon. During this 2 hour waiting period, I asked one of the front desk girls when I would be seen; she responded, “Oh, they haven’t seen you yet? I totally forgot about you!” Great. The vet finally came in, offered an offhand apology about the wait time, felt my dog for 30 seconds, and came back 20 minutes later with an estimate for almost $1000...for a 10 lb puppy. To say the least, I was not going to trust my pet to the distracted and rude care of this clinic. I opted for a much better, super friendly and helpful vet just down the street who did the surgery for a third of the cost.
I couldnt be happier with this clinic! We have a great vet there (Dr. McNamee) and my puppy recently had an emergency and had to be kept there overnight. Knowing that my puppy was in such great hands made all the difference- they are always available for calls 24/7 and additionally I was able to visit my puppy any time as well. I met with a couple different emergency vets Dr Reid as well as Dr Acevedo during my puppys stay and both of them along with the whole staff made me feel at ease and I knew my puppy was getting the best care possible. I cant recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic enough!
We have had a wonderful experience with Briarcliff Animal Clinic, and have actually decided to make them our primary vet care provder after the wonderful care our two cats received. We took our male cat there in April after finding out he had a urinary tract infection from a different veterinary emergency care provider. We were about to leave town for a week and initially planned to have him in medical boarding at Briarcliff. Briarcliff was able to fit us in (about 3 hours before our flight) and provided a much more thorough exam before we dropped him off. It turned out our fur baby was much sicker than we (or the other veterinary ER) realized. The urgent care doctor at Briarcliff saw that he had a high fever and decided to observe him the first day in the hospital. Thank goodness they did! As it turned out, he had a kidney infection and pancreatitis, which Dr. Phillips and the wonderful vets at Briarcliff diagnosed and treated. They treated him with fluids, ice packs, and antibiotics for his fever and infection, and gave us regular updates every few hours. My husband and I felt SO much better knowing that our cat had 24-hour care in our absence. Dr. Phillips and his team were excellent. Throughout our cats entire stay, I felt like he was in the hands of a hospital team that really cared about him and his health. Had we not taken our cat to Briarcliff when we did, he could have died while we were out of town, or become gravely ill. I am so grateful to Dr. Phillips and the hospital team at Briarcliff for their care, thoughtfulness, and my kittys health! They were also very understanding and upfront about all charges or tests; for example, when our cat needed an ultrasound, they explained the procedure, how it would help, *exactly* how much it would cost, and then allowed me to decide whether or not to proceed. I have never dealt with a vet who was so transparent about the cost and reason for care, and it made me feel very empowered as a pet owner. I would have said yes to whatever they proposed, but it was great to feel that the Briarcliff team really had our cats best interests at heart, unlike many other vets who seem to add charges just for the sake of making more money. They also assigned us an account manager who would call us every few days with the current total for our cats care, so there were no surprises (or sticker shock) when we finally came to pay. All in all, a fantastic experience. We have since been back with our other cat for treatment of an eye infection and had a great experience with Dr. McNamee. Great bedside manner, easy to make an appointment, wonderful, thoughtful care, fair prices, and an overall very positive experience. We will absolutely return for both our cats annual checkups, rabies shots, and any future veterinary care they need.
Dr. Byerly took such incredible care of my pup Gracie this weekend. I absolutely could not ask for better care. She was knowledgeable, reassuring, and made what was a stressful time very manageable. Her vet techs are so kind and I enjoyed chatting with all of them as Gracie was being treated. Can’t say enough about Dr. Byerly and her team. Also a huge fan of Dr. Fowler at Briarcliff. Choose one of those two vets and you will be so glad you did. Thanks to everyone for loving on my dogs so well! We’re lucky to have found you.
UPDATE - The price gouging continues. Friends took their sick puppy to Briarcliff. They woudnt admit the puppy until my friends paid $3000 in advance. The puppy died within 12 hours. The worst kind of clinic.Absolutely outrageous pricing. If ever there were a business that preyed on how people feel about their pets to make money, this is it.Sadly, when it was time for my dog to be put down, Briarcliff wanted $310. Other vets were around $125 or less. I even found a well-know, private practice that charged me $80.I get this is a big business with lots of staff/doctors to support. But at what price?
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are very understanding and have an obvious love for animals. They make sure you understand everything they are going to do and what everything means for your pets well being before, during, and after procedures.Briarcliff is a bit on the pricey side for vet care, but I think it is worth it considering their wonderful staff and that they are open 24/7. My baby deserves the best care :)
We have been bringing our dog and cats here for over 10 years and we love this place. They have saved our dogs life with an emergency surgery, they were there when we had to let one of our cats go due to aggressive cancer, and they introduced a good friend to his very own cat. I cant say enough good things about Briarcliff Animal Clinic!
I am so pleased with the service and staff at Briarcliff. We are always greeted with a loving smile. We have been going there for many years. Most recently my beloved 13 year lab mix had a stroke while walking her. By the time we arrived at Briarcliff she was in really bad shape. They took us back and did all they could for her and let me hold her in the emergency area while she passed. Just broke my heart. Everyone was so gracious and kind... I will not forget that.We see several different vets there. I love them all. Just cannot say enough good things about them.
Weve had great experiences at BAC with our menagerie -- first got to know them through an emergency experience (we were going to another veterinary practice at the time) and after that, switched over all 3 of our pets. Things have not been 100% perfect over the years but theyre good about working with us when we have had concerns. Overall, I give them a very high rating.
Efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable!I really like VCA Briarcliff Animal Hospital. I used to go to another vet (which was very close to my house) but now I drive out of my way to come here instead. You can tell that everyone that works here truly loves animals. Your pet will be in good hands here!
I am disappointed in this veterinary clinic. If your pet needs dental work, my recommendation would be to go elsewhere. Dr. Hayes was late to the appointment, causing me to wait well beyond my appointed time. To be fair, Dr. Hayes was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. However, the cost that she quoted me as a preliminary estimate for the surgery was over twice the amount in the quoted estimates that I had received from 3 other veterinary clinics - nearly $1400. Additionally Dr. Hayes told me that there was a likelihood of an additional monies that I would have to pay, as much as $600-$800 that might be added on to my bill once the surgery was underway. They would have to call me once my dog was already asleep on the operating room table. To be clear, they were quoting me approximately $2000.I went to another reputable veterinary clinic a few miles away. I was able to have my dog competently evaluated and a reasonable price quoted for the surgery that totaled $750 --- thats $750 for the exact same services quoted at Briarcliff Animal Clinic for $2000.What I saw of the clinic facility, including the reception desk, the waiting room, the animal check-in area, and the consultation/examination room were all in real need of cleaning, painting, and general repair. The facility is dated and worn. It occurs to me that having the areas of the facility that were visible to the customer in need of such work begs the question of what their surgical suite might look like. Fundamentally, if they are not taking care of the facility you can see, what about the facility you cant see? The bottom line is that I misled about the pricing, and treated unprofessionally by both the veterinarian and the staff, in a facility that is dated and in disrepair. The price quoted to me for this surgery is 120% more than was necessary. I cannot recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic.
0 Stars if possible. I took my rescue husky as he needed check up and vaccines. He was diagnosed with hearth warms. Besides treatment $$$$ they tried to sell me lungs X-rays (+400-500) which I declined. Afterwards I discussed the matter with another vet -- pointless procedure, theres absolutely nothing you can do if the lungs are damaged.Year later dog got sick, started loosing weight rapidly. Took him in. His tooth/mouth was bothering him too. I end up leaving him for a few hours. Once I was back, blood work was already done - something I agreed on doing already, however vet was insisting on doing x-rays again and leaving him at the clinic for observation. When I asked about his teeth /mouth vets response was - HE WOULD NOT LET ME LOOK AT IT !!! Is this for real ??? I was furious ! Took blood-work print out, paid the bill and stormed out.Hour later I was at another vet on Columbia drive. 5 minutes in dog was sedated, mouth wide open to examine. Briarcliff Animal Clinic, please dont tell me how much We really care about your pet ...
Dr. Allen and all the staff here are absolutely wonderful. I am in and out in a timely manner, and we are always called back at our exact appt time if not before!!! They are very thorough and great at explaining everything, which is especially awesome since Im a new puppy mom. I totally recommend this clinic. They are top notch!!!
Weve been using the Briarcliff Animal Clinic since we moved in to our current home in January, 2005. Susan, my wife, and I have lived together in DeKalb County since 1975 and have always had one or more pets, so weve had cause to use several different vets over the years. Although weve never had a really bad experience in all that time, our experience with the Briarcliff Animal Clinic has been consistently outstanding. Both of our current pets came to us as kittens through Briarcliffs own adoption program, and they saw us through the loss of our previous cat, an 18-year old tortoise shell. They have superb hours, making it easy to get emergency service as well as making it easy to schedule around work for regular checkups and shots. We heartily recommend this clinic to any pet owners.
Our first experience with BAC was a late night after our 2.5 year old collie mix got into a bag of trail mix that contained a lot of raisins and our regular vets after hours clinic is about 30-40 minutes away OTP. The staff and doctors were so amazing in clearly explaining the potential issues the toxins from the raisins could cause and what the potential risks were associated with different levels of treatment. In the end we opted to take the most cautious treatment to ensure she would be OK which included some overnights. During this time we were amazed by the level of communication (update calls at each shift change) and clear attention to our concern as pet parents for the care and health of our pup. Ultimately she made a full recovery and ended up being able to be discharged earlier than the doctor originally estimated which also helped us save some expense, which was also appreciated. While we continue to use our original primary care vet for routine care, its great to know that we have another high quality clinic in the neighborhood to which we can and would go if necessary.
Dr. Sandra Hedge is the jewel of Briarcliff. I have been bringing my dogsto her since she arrived there (in the mid-70s). Im sorry to see that shesonly working two days a week now as she is the only one I ever want to see and trust with my dogs. Shes the very tops! And now I hear shell absolutely retire Jan. 1, 2019. I dont know what Ill do!
We selected Briarcliff Animal Clinic for our Golden Retriever puppy based on excellence of healthcare and wellness treatment. From the outstanding doctor, to the receptionists, to scheduling we knew right away that we had made the correct choice. The doctor paid more attention to our puppy, spending the time necessary to get to know her, than most human doctors pay to us. Having a pet is expensive, from the costs of safe toys to that of quality food. We were warned of these costs by the animal adoption agency therefore we knew what we were facing. However, having made the decision for a pet and now having a new member of the family in our home, our main concern is quality care and Briarcliff Animal Clinic continues to live up to its reputation in veterinary healthcare.
I had to bring in my pup for an emergency in the middle of the night. They were so kind, patient, and understanding when I was in such a panic. Dr. Gray was so helpful, and asked me several times if I had any questions. She was very honest about all the possible diagnoses (since they werent my regular vet, and didnt have my dogs records) and potential costs. Im so grateful for all their care.
I regret taking my baby here. We visited VCA because Duke was puking unusually and in pain. After running many test, we were told that he had pancreatitis and diabetes. Now lets rewind. We had recently visited the VCA a little over a month prior because he was in pain and we were told he was having muscle spasms. Dr Powell gave us 14 days worth of medication, but no mention of pancreatitis nor what could have caused those muscle spasms. I thought he’d be fine after taking the medicine. On this last visit we now have diabetes and pancreatitis. Duke was puking and a little drowsy prior to going in, but still walking and alert. After being hospitalized at the VCA, he became more ill, very ill and couldn’t even hold himself up to pee. They told me they just needed to control the pain, the vomiting and get his glucose under control. Kidneys were fine, everything else was fine. I was hopeful I’d be taking him home and Dr. Moore even showed me how to watch his glucose levels and give him insulin. I was ready to do so. The next day, after 3 days of being hospitalized and “treated” we were told he was having kidney failure! How?! His kidneys were just fine the day before. We visited Duke every day, twice a day. On one visit in particular his eyes were filled with so much crust he could barely open them. He butt was covered in poop! The nurse brought him to me like this. The Doctors would change shifts and not say a word. I rarely ever got updates until we got Dr Moore and one other Dr that was helpful. Im sure Duke was over medicated. He went there not feeling the best and became a vegetable under their care. I’m hurt, angry and really wish I didn’t take him there. I was told I could come get him and that he more than likely wouldn’t make it over night. I’m glad I was able to pick him up and let him pass under my care, his safety net because the VCA failed him. Duke was with us from 4 weeks old til 11. I’ve never seen him the way I did after being there. Don’t go here.
I bought my very ill Boston Terrier to here as an emergency on Memorial Day. They did not triage her, scooped her up and stuck her in some room and left me outside. After 2 hours, I told them I wanted to see my dog. They stuck me in a room to appease me. After about 20 minutes, I demanded my dog and left for another emergency clinic. My dog passed away later that day from a ruptured heart based tumor. The outcome for my dog would have been the same, except for the pain and anguish she experienced, that I will not go into. Traumatic experience and day, and made worse by this place. Never again will I step foot in Briarcliff Animal Clinic.
Took my rescued/inherited cat to see them; Since it was a first visit, I had no idea how the cat would act. Well, they are indeed feline friendly, as she had no issue whatsoever. I felt they were up front with what they were doing and how much it would cost; a follow call was a pleasant surprise. Now if only the cat could understand why mom has to cut back on her food..... doc said she was a tad chubby!
I brought my dog to Briarcliff Animal Clinic in an emergency after she ate a bandage off her arm. X-rays showed that my dog had material and gas build up in her intestines but the vet decided to simply monitor her and give her IV fluids. I was not satisfied with the care they were giving my dog, so I decided to move her to the Village Vet (which is where I should have taken her in the first place, but Briarcliff was closer and I wanted to get her looked at as soon as possible). Briarcliff Animal Clinic charged me $1700 for less than 24 hours of nonsurgical care. They took advantage of my situation and price gouged me. Their bill was over half the cost of the extraction surgery performed at Village Vets. Village Vets took one look at my dog and immediately performed the surgery. They could not understand why Dr. Kimberly Reid was wasting time with diagnostics and waiting to perform more X-rays when the obstruction didn’t move for nearly 24 hours. Unfortunately the surgery came too late. My dog did not survive the extraction surgery due to the infection that built up in her intestines. She would have likely survived if she received the surgery when she was originally admitted to Briarcliff. Or if the started her on antibiotics. The doctor at Village Vet told me after speaking to Dr. Kimberly- he didn’t think she was trained to handle the situation. I asked him what he meant and he said she definitely was not a surgeon. According to the website, Dr. Kimberly Reid specializes in DERMATOLOGY and SMALL ANIMAL internal medicine. My dog was a med-large size. Kimberly Reid did not even contact a suergon for a first or second opinion. Because she was not a surgeon, she was not even trained or able to treat an intestinal blockage. She should have referred me elsewhere to someone that was educated and able to help my dog. She had ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS treating my dog. Interestingly enough- the weekend after I brought Gwenivere in- I got an email from Briarcliff saying they are no longer an emergency clinic but an urgent care. Obviously because they are not trained nor equipt to handle emergencies, but they have no problem taking your money and letting your pet suffer while they pretend they do. Taking my dog there was literally the worst mistake of my life. The owner response is also a joke. They’re not sorry at all they made $1,700. Don’t risk it take your animal somewhere else. It is not worth it. They are absolute scum.
Absolutely horrible.I went in for Urgent Care on Sunday noon. Was made to wait 4 hours before a doctor came in.....she gave us less than 5 minutes of her time. Left and sent a staff member with a 1000 dollar test list. Did not even come back to consult us about those tests. Its a long story really. We left the clinic that evening at 10 pm. 900 dollars and 9 hours later, they had no diagnosis or suggestion, just an IV bag, rather told us to come back for Round 2 - only then can they say why my dog is throwing up food and pooping blood. We went home, did home remedies, and now the dog is better. Ill steer away from these hyenas in future.
I would not go anywhere else. I pass animal clinics on the way to Briarcliff Animal Clinic. My small dog is over 14 years old and the staff welcome him and make him feel less scared. The veterinarians actively engage to provide positive advice and care of my dog as he gets older. The rates are more than reasonable for the level of service provided.
Cannot rave enough about the caring doctors. My puppy was taken there after being hit by a bus (unbeknownst to me, I was told that she did not make it). Briarcliff vets treated her without a thought of who was paying or who the owner was. While frantically looking for my puppy, hoping that the worst had not happened, I spoke to dozens of vets and clinics in the area, and all of them said that they would not care for an animal who was brought in by someone other than a paying owner. I was finally reunited with my Foxie at Briarcliff, who had been delivered by a good samaritan. I am so very grateful that they had saved her. I have now taken all of my 3 dogs to Briarcliff and have had equally caring experiences. The doctors take the time to listen and help.
This was my first visit to Briarcliff Animal Clinic and I must say I am very impressed. Everything from the separate cat and dog entrances/rooms, to the friendliness of the folks in the front office to the cleanliness in every part of the facility. Our visit with Dr. Fowler was nothing short of what I would want from my vet -- caring, professional and informative. He took the time to explain the possible causes for my fur childs ailments and proceeded with each test explaining with great care what he was doing. I am happy that my prior vet (who was fine, honestly) couldnt see my little guy. I inadvertently found our new doctor and cant recommend them enough.
We brought our beloved chihuahua here for a while. It’s a money making operation first and foremost. While there are some good docs on staff it’s hit or miss. Our senior chihuahua had heart issues. We were told heart murmur and no medicine or directives were given. We were scolded about her weight so we tried to walk her more and watch her caloric intake. Turns out she was in congestive heart failure and we should NOT have been exercising her. We were told that the day she was having difficulty breathing and had fluid on her lungs. They took her in, supposedly gave her oxygen and a diuretic. We were handed back a very ill dog along with A $600 plus bill and she died three hours later. She had just been in three months prior with full xrays , blood work etc $1000 bill and no mention of congestive heart failure or any other issues other than possible Cushings onset. Find another vet. We were left broken hearted and angry.
I have 3 cats, two seniors and one kitten... All receiving quality care at the Briarcliff facility. Dr. MacNamee is very knowledgeable, professional, caring, and has presented me with all the available options. Theres no pressure to move forward with any course of action, and the facilities are remarkably clean... Even during their remodeling! Helpful staff, and I can usually get an appointment after 5 pm with only a couple days notice. Highly recommended!
I had to bring my pug in for emergency services this evening. John on the phones was very friendly and quick to help me get all her information sorted. Today was very difficult, besides my dog being ill, and the techs went out of there way to make sure that not just Frankie was physically ok but that I was emotionally ok. Above and beyond care from the whole team. Thank you so much!
We have been bringing our dogs here for over 35 years. We felt that over the past few years their quality has dropped and their prices were very high.We were quoted around $800 for some surgery for our dog last week. We brought her in today for the surgery and they told us in a non-chalant manner that it may be as high as $3000 now but not sure. We felt bilked here. The vet clearly did not do his/her due diligence when we brought came in the first time even though they charged us over $500 for the assessment and blood work. They said insurance many help the costs and we filled out the forms and then told that it might not be that simple since it requires internal code changes. They wasted our time this morning. We took our dog home.We told them we are not coming back and it was time to find a new veterinarian after over 35 years.
I am a very big fan of Briarcliff Animal Clinic. Have been taking my dogs there for 20 years. It is the small things they do that are so appreciated. After my first dog died of cancer, I received a condolence card signed by virtually every member of the staff. Humans could not receive any more care and concern than their canine patients do.
This vet clinic saved my dogs life. I was traveling and my dog had become ill. Over the weekend, I went to a emergency vet charged me $350 for an x-ray and assured me she was fine, and said to give it time. On Monday, she stopped eating all together, so I took her to Briarcliff. They performed an ultrasound and confirmed my suspicion that she had pyometra. The doctors were very gracious, charged me only half their regular rate for the ultrasound (I told hem about the bill from the emergency vet on the weekend), gave me food that my dog would actually eat, and started her on antibiotics. That afternoon I made a 14 hour drive from Atlanta to Oklahoma City where I had a friend I could stay with for her emergency surgery. Today, the dog is happy and healthy, but if it wasnt for the quick, accurate, and compassionate care I got at Briarcliff, I would probably not have found out in time. I really appreciated the attitude and professional empathy of the doctors at Briarcliff. If Im ever in need of a vet in Atlanta, Ill be back again!
My labradoodle has been seen at Briarcliff for about 7 years. We are very happy with her regular vet, Dr Turner as well as the others she has seen over the years for a variety of issues. Dr Turner is very thorough and thoughtful. She spent a lot of time figuring out Bella’s liver disease and coming up with a good treatment plan. As Bella gets older, I appreciate her recommendations for sdditional testing so that we can determine what other issues she has. Everyone is so nice....the front desk and pharmacy staff, vet techs and vets. They always tell you how much a test or procedure will cost before proceeding. They follow up after an appointment with an electronic invoice and healthcare info document which are very helpful if you have pet insurance. I wholeheartedly recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic.
I had to use their urgent care services and they took my dog back right away. They were very clear about what tests needed to be done and how much it would cost. They call at the end of every shift to update the status of a hospitalized pet. The staff is very friendly and understanding. I definitely recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic!
The visit itself was okay, but we came in for our cat’s possible intestinal blockage and they kept insisting he was a girl. Supposedly they even got three other vets and vet techs to check. I found out later they never even got his medical records from our previous vet in the first place, and they still claimed this cat was a girl and some staff were rude to us for calling him a boy cat even though he’s seen multiple vets before who never contested he was a boy.Took the cat to a different vet for shots today and confirmed yes, he is in fact a boy. They even showed me on the cat that without a shadow of a doubt he is a boy.Briarcliff seems nice on the surface, but the fact that so many of their staff couldn’t even do a simple thing as tell that my cat is male and that some of them were so rude and condescending about it makes me not trust their expertise, in addition to the fact that they never got his original medical records despite treating him for an emergency visit.
I remember taking our family pets as a child to Briarcliff Animal Clinic and now my own pets are treated there. I wouldnt go anywhere else. The staff has always been helpful and caring. The doctors are the best in the city. Thanks to everyone at BAC - Love, Bailey and Bear!!
I adopted my puppy from this clinic. He first came in and was lifeless. His previous owners were not that great to him. The doctors worked on him and now he is the perfect hyperactive little guy! :) the staff is amazing and they always treat me and my puppy with such great customer service. AWESOME organization!!!!!
The care and everything here is fine, but the general communication here is awful. The wait to speak to someone each time I came was absurd. We came one night to visit my dog. The tech came and told us that the doctor would come in soon to update us. We waited 45 mins before the tech came in again to just give us the update herself because the doctor was tied up. Im not sure why this wasnt communicated sooner among the staff so someone could just update us sooner.I went to pick up my dog today and was told over the phone that the doctor okayed my dog for discharge and I could come whenever I wanted to get her. They put me in a room and 30 mins later I had to go find someone to give me an update. They said my chart had never been pulled up. And then I was told that the doctor wouldnt be ready for a lot longer because he was with another patient. Not sure why I was told that my pet would be ready whenever I came then. I even asked if I should call before I came so they could be ready and they said there was no need. After another 30 mins, I asked, albeit rudely, to just take my dog without seeing the doctor and was told that the doctor was putting the charges in at the moment. I opted to leave my visit room door open and could hear the techs complaining about me - which is fair because I was super bitchy at that point, but come on. It took me over an hour to just pick up my dog.I understand that there are emergencies but that can usually be solved when there is open communication and honesty and not leaving people sitting in a room for 30 mins without any information.Additionally, Dr. Phillips made an off-hand comment to my boyfriend about their one-star reviews. I would recommend reading them and making improvements if you want to fix that.
Ive only used BAC for overnight boarding, so this review is about that and not their vet services.I left my German Shepherd overnight on two occasions when I had last minute travel come up. I bring his food with him, since he has a sensitive stomach. On my second visit, the food they gave back was the exact same amount as what I brought with me.I thought maybe they fed him some of their stock food, so I called to ask. The attendant admitted that they had not fed him at all. This reputable overnight boarding clinic did not feed my dog for the entirety of his visit, meaning one night meal and one morning meal were missed. Completely unacceptable. How would you react if your babysitter didnt feed your child? You would never trust that person again, even if it was just one mistake. To top this off, when I walked him out to the car, he stopped to pee and let loose for a full 30 seconds. Thats an unusually long time for him to go, which leads me to believe they also didnt walk him or let him outside. They also require a few vaccines that other places dont require. Ive read a lot of reviews about their unnecessary procedures or their attempts to upcharge for things that are less expensive elsewhere, so Ill drop this into that category.Sounds like this place is a good vet for the most part, but Id consider boarding your animal elsewhere.
I have never written a review before about anything, but today was so bad I found it necessary. I have been going to this vet for years and some of their doctors are good. They are always relatively overpriced, but open on weekends, which is why I have stuck with them. Today, when I complained about an arbitrary fee, the response was “Is your dog not worth it to you?” Implying I don’t love my dog because I question an incorrect and unfair fee is the opposite of what a vet should be. I will be finding another vet in Atlanta.
They are expensive firstly. They also try to cleverly break up the 3 year vaccines your dog needs so youll have to still get vaccines each year. An exam is like $68 which is way more than I am used to paying but the trick is in the dog gets free vaccines. I dont think Ill be back. The vet and assistants are nice but my dog is fat despite efforts to thin him out and when I asked what else I could do, I was told to Just keep trying by the vet. Ouch...ADDED: They replied as to why they break up the vaccines, which to my knowledge isnt a common practice because weve had dogs probably 20 years and never has this been done. Fair enough. They didnt address the disregard of the dogs physical condition by the vet. If a yearly exam is so important, why didnt the vet try to offer any real advice at all to help thin the fat dog? All he said was I want more tuck here, and a bit less width here. I want that for the dog, too but have tried diets etc and nothing helped. Youd think the vet could do better than Just keep trying. Suppose he waits until the next yearly exam where the dog has gained ANOTHER 10 lbs, and he tells me again to Just keep trying.
I bring all four of my cats here and I love that the wellness exam includes the cost of any necessary vaccines. They also provide a print out of rabies certificate, envelope, and form to fill out so I can easily send my pets registration to the county. Dr. Hayes is great with all my cats and makes sound recommendations but isnt pushy.
I will be writing 2 reviews. As my daytime experiences with dr. Clay Allen are stellar, but my emergency visit with doctor zsophia bezdek left me feeling like she was not competent and she was horribly condescending and being so slow and playing power games with me I ended up being there 4 hours because a real emergency came in well after the time I should have already been out of there, because until that time I was the only human at the clinic besides employees .it felt like she was throwing things against the wall to see what would stick. Cost me $1,300 and I left with pain pills and eye ointment and no diagnosis. At one point the vet - clutching the file to her chest - actually threatened not to give me the diagnosis, which it turns out she didnt even have. Ive read responses to reviews that say that you can be with your dog during the exam, but I checked twice why my dog was not with me and if I could be with the dog and I was refused. That is when the tension started with the vet. I dont understand how a competent exam can be given before the vet speaks to you about symptoms and reasons for visiting. When I questioned whether his tensing his abdomen during the exam was due to nerves versus pain, she said hes your dog you know him better than me. When I questioned why she wanted to do a lung X-ray when she had not mentioned anything that indicated it was needed, she said he might have lesions on his lungs. Then backpedaled and said of course she didnt know that. She also indicated I should see an ophthalmologist because I told her I could tell he felt sick from the way his eyes looked. She told me there was not one there that night however she ended up doing eye tests that she charged me for. At the height of our tension she told me she would not speak to me unless I was sitting. I sat down, and she told me that I had to sit in a different place for her to talk to me. As I was leaving she suggested acupuncture, lasers, and an ophthalmologist with no real understanding of why. And as a quick side note during that four hours I was waiting I looked for water for my pet, and could not find a single employee.
Been going to BAC since 1978, when we lived around the corner. I got my first Siamese cat and took her to Dr. Hedge on the breeders recommendation. Now I have Labrador Retrievers, competing in hunting tests, and still going to BAC, even though I have to drive across town.Extra benefit is the emergency clinic, so that when your pet has a problem after hours they have all your vet records -- and an emergency vet you dont know isnt trying to guess what the matter is without a history.Highly recommend.
Best vet clinic in Atlanta! Have seen 3 different vets there & all were superb. Our vet now is Dr. Rachel Williams and we all love her.....she is very accessible and a great vet. I really think their prices are more than reasonable for services and medicines. You cant beat the regular clinic hours (7 am to 9 pm during week) and they are open all day Saturday (8:30 to 5) and half a day Sunday. Of course they are a 24 hr clinic but (knock on wood) we havent had to to use it but its great to know they are there. I have also used their boarding and thought it was reasonably priced and felt assured I was leaving my old girl in good hands. I wouldnt take my dog anywhere else & I recommend everyone go there!
Ive taken my dogs here for several years and would not consider taking them anywhere else. They have always received top notch treatment from dedicated, caring staff. I love that they are open 24 hours. Weve had middle of the night emergencies, and It is so nice to be able to take them to docs who know them and have their history rather than to a night time only emergency clinic and doc I dont know anything about. As far as cost is concerned, I have found them to be very mindful of the cost of care and conservative about ordering lab work and other diagnostic tests. They have given me pre-treatment estimates for anything more than a check up and vaccines. I dont select physicians, dentists, or even hairdressers for myself based on who is the cheapest and am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I dont know what other facilities charge and dont care. My babies deserve the best and I am willing to pay for it.
My family has been using Bricliff Animal Clinic for around 50 years. So, naturally I took my pets there too. I have watched the practice grow with the original Dr. Muller from two exam rooms to where they are now and the services they offer. Dr. Hedge and Dr. Bush are my go to doctors, although all are excellent veterinarians. I totally trust the doctors with my pets from the time of birth till the time for euthanasia. I would never go anywhere else as long as I live around Atlanta. I highly recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinc. I just cant say enough good about them in all ways. Thank you all for the compassion and love you have shown my pets for the last 50 years.
My cat wasnt living a good life. Very aggressive behavior was evident daily, and he seemed unhappy. I took him to this vet. They have a special cat entrance. She was very careful with him, and they informed me of the costs upfront. She prescribed a medicine to help the cat that is like Prozac. It has changed the life of our cat, and our house is a much happier place! Cant thank you enough!
We went there for an emergency and had the best and most empathetic care imaginable. It was late, but the staff and clinicians did everything they could for us. We even received a follow-up call regarding my dogs progress post-surgery, even though the surgery warranted us having to go to another hospital. Would recommend this clinic to anyone.
I just adopted, a month ago, a very sweet cat and have been to Briarcliff Animal Clinic twice since then. The first time for a first time wellness exam, and the second time today because I was concerned about her constipation. I was kinda a mess, very concerned about the well being of my feline friend. Today, Dr. Azalia Boyd attended to me and my feline friend. Dr. Boyd was very patient with me, answering my many questions and discussing several different treatment options with me. Thank you kindly Dr. Boyd for your time and patience. Thank you to the other two ladies at reception as well. My feline friend is doing better already.
Briarcliff Animal Clinic is the top of the top. I am part of the 3rd generation of my family using this clinic. There are doctors available to address every need. They take their time and are very empathetic with pet owners in crisis. The support staff (especially Ms. Christmas and Terry) are just awesome. I have always trusted them with my most beloved.
They genuinely care. Plus they really know what they are talking about highly trained and experienced, they saved my dog!! Dr. Sio walked through every single step for the take home meds for my dog with me, no rush spent almost an hour with me answering questions and making sure I felt comfortable, absolutely wonderful! Only downside is that it is pretty expensive, but to have top care like that, you gotta pay for it. Definitely worth it. Front desk staff were helpful and caring too. So pleased I had to leave a review!!
I have been a loyal , since 1965 , patron of this animal hospital. Recent events with my 11+ year old golden retriever have left me concerned about the care but even more so the obvious lack of attention paid to our beloved Layla. For some reason the staff is not able to see shaking type seizures even though she has been on a so called seizure watch for days at a time on several stays in the last few weeks. Even though she exhibits these signs at home as well as in the parking lot before we board her and shortly after picking her up. Care has gone downhill since the family sold out ..
I adopted our AST Daisy from BAC just as I had also adopted Dalton, a Black Lab/Great Dane mix years before that. So greatly appreciative of their love and care towards strays that are dropped off their. After our dogs Dalton and Hannah passed, with their assistance, after a battle of cancer (Hannah) and extremely bad back where he just couldn’t walk anymore, and cancerous tumor on spine (I believe).Throughout their lives, and now Daisy’s life, I know that whenever they were seen for their annual physicals or if they needed emergency assistance, they were, and is, in the best of care. When Daisy walks through the door, she is almost always recognized right away and greeted with enthusiasm and love. I love the doctors, technicians/assistants and the front and the handlers very much. They give excellent care and have genuine compassion for my dog. I’d give them a ten star rating, if available. Thank you BVA, for doing an outstanding job!
I bring both of my 12 year old rescue cats to the Briarcliff Animal Clinic and both are treated by Dr. Floyd. I am a psychotherapist whom specializes in Pet Loss so I hear lots of horror stories. This clinic and Dr. Floyd are top notch providers. I wouldnt trust my furbabies to just any clinic. My cat, Ace, got diagnosed with Diabetes last year and was hospitalized for a week and now hes thriving on insulin. I cant say enough positives about this clinic and its staff.
I researched this clinic when I moved to the north side of the city and have never looked back! My dog has had quite a few life-threatening issues (Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis x2, and pancreatitis) and the staff at BAC Emory/Morningside has worked very hard to do everything in their power to make him well again. The fact that they are a 24-hr clinic is wonderful and helps to ease worries because you know someone will always be there and you dont have to wait for normal business hours to get your pet care. During Sammies stays, the doctor(s) working on his case were always available by phone, gave me consistent updates, and definitely kept me in the loop with exactly what treatment measures were being done.Moving from a smaller town, the prices were a bit more than I was accustomed to paying, but considering the around-the-clock care that is given and the success in treatment, I would absolutely recommend BAC to anyone looking for a new vet!
I have had two pets, two cats, cared for by the compassionate and very friendly and professional staff at the Morningside location of Briarcliff Animal Clinic. I would highly recommend taking your pet there.Since posting above over a year ago, I have taken my cat back for boarding and medical care and am continually impressed with how compassionate and professional they all are at this location.
I am so grateful for Briarcliff Animal Clinic. When my dog passed away suddenly on Memorial Day, they were there to help out. Being a holiday, my regular vet was not available. I called many other 24 hour service vets and received little to no help. Briarcliff was so kind, supportive, and available to help in a difficult situation. They talked me through the entire process. I highly recommend them for emergency needs.
We have been using Briarcliff Animal Clinic for our Maltipoo for sometime. The services have been excellent, reasonable fees and appointments are kept. We had an occasion to use the emergency service late one night and the on-call Doctor was very compassionate and identified the issue and provided the correct medications to take care of the problem. Thank you for your excellent medical care.
Avoid their emergency clinic if you care about your pet and dont want to get ripped off! The emergency department takes advantage of emotionally vulnerable pet owners, and pushes unnecessary procedures and long hospital stays at outrageous prices (easily double what others charge). I wish I had seen the recent reviews before deciding to come here. When the main ER vet first met my pet she had obviously just gotten in from a smoke break. How shameful that sick and injured pets with sensitive stomachs and noses have to be handled by a vet reeking of smoke! I then felt like I was at a car dealership haggling over the price of a new car. She came back and forth THREE times with outrageously priced estimates for treating my pet. She kept pushing tests that seemed unnecessary and insisted on a long hospital stay. After agreeing to a shorter stay they called me to push more expensive and invasive procedures claiming that my pet was not eating or drinking due to stress (there’s no telling what loud, stressful conditions he experienced while crammed in their “busy” emergency area). I finally decided to just go and rescue my pet from them the next morning after they refused to call back with an update, and when I got there they stuck me in a back patient room and made me wait for two hours for my pet to be discharged! TWO HOURS!!! There excuse was that they were too busy (all the more reason for me to go elsewhere).During my two hour wait I saw only a handful of customers come in, yet they keep tons of staff sitting at the front desk lollygagging around with nothing to do. It’s no wonder their prices are so high - they have to pay for all of those staff!I ended up paying way more than I originally agreed to which included at least one expensive and unnecessary treatment that I specifically told them NOT to do and a large dose of medication that they did NOT have my permission to give. Their philosophy is just to do it now and bill you for it later! If your pet needs their nails trimmed they’ll probably be fine here, but if there’s an emergency go anywhere else!
Our experiences have always been the best. Our little Foxy originally saw Dr. Busch when we brought our little baby back from Mexico, where I had been the director of a large shelter in Cuernavaca. Dr. Busch operated on her for an extreme digestive problem and she has remained almost problem free for three years. We have continued to take Foxy there. We love the place and its doctors.
Ive been taking my fur babies to Briarcliff Animal Clinic since I moved here in 1997. Ive had a dog, cats, and rabbits.. and usually see Dr. Turner. All there are always so attentive and Dr. Turner is very knowledgeable and explanatory. Theyve journeyed with me through vaccinations (which are now free!), serious health issues, passings, and even CPR and quarantine of pets - always with stride, compassion, and expert services. Briarcliff is also good at outlining the services and fees which allows me to prioritize which services are best to begin with and which can be saved for a second round of health discovery.
We LOVE Briarcliff Animal Clinic. The staff is friendly and helpful and it is very easy to get an appointment- even outside of normal business hours. We have had appointments with most of the doctors and each has been attentive and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Briarcliff Animal Clinic.
We have been clients of BAC for thirty years, and they have taken meticulous care of our pets and us throughout that time. Our pets have had illnesses, most minor, some serious...but theyve always been treated with care, sympathy and effectiveness. Our gratitude knows no bounds. We will never take our beloved pets anywhere else.
I had taken my dog to Briarcliff Animal Clinic for about five years and they had been excellent, though we hadnt really asked them for much beyond periodic wellness exams. Earlier this year, I took her in and asked about a bump on her chest, which the doctor analyzed and decided was cancerous and had to be removed. The doctor performed the surgery well and got the tumor with wide margins but after a week or so, we took her back in because the wound wasnt closing in the middle. The first vet we talked to said to not worry about it. Some time passed and we took her back in because it still wasnt closing. The second vet added some additional stitches and said to give it some time. We did but the new stitches werent holding either so we took her back in again. The third vet removed all the stitches, said the area was too irritated and to just leave it open and it would heal on its own in a few weeks. At this point it had been over a month since the initial surgery and after three visits, Id now been sent home with a hole in my dog the size of a tennis ball. To their credit, Briarcliff hadnt charged me for these follow up visits but I was less worried about the money and more concerned with the fact that theyd done nothing to solve the problem. The next day, I asked one of my neighbors, whos very picky about the businesses he patronizes and is, in fact, another former Briarcliff customer, and he recommended me to Lavista Animal Hospital. When I took her there, the vet said that we were looking at at least a couple months of healing in its present state, if it didnt get too infected, which it already was. They put her on some strong antibiotics and stitched the wound closed with a stitching technique they claimed was optimized for this kind of large wound in this area, put a heavy bandage on it (which Briarcliff had never wanted to do) so it stayed clean and undisturbed, and sent us home with weekly checkups and bandage cleanings. She healed up in a couple weeks with no further complications and we put this nightmare behind us.I will NEVER go to Briarcliff again after this experience. They proved totally unable to handle this problem. Each vet we talked to had a different recommendation and each one failed to come up with a permanent solution. At Lavista, Dr. Walton took one look, knew exactly what to do, and solved the problem quickly, efficiently, and as painlessly as possible. I couldnt have been happier and Ive been going there ever since. The more Ive thought about it, I realized that Briarcliff is great with the owners and makes you feel well taken care of so you assume that level of care extends to your pet when you visit. Its been my experience that it does not. Do not go here.
I used Dr. Williams to do a final checkup and fill out the EU health certificate. I was visiting Atlanta before a trip overseas so this was my first trip to this office. She was very thorough and even emailed it to the USDA office for their review before I went to get it endorsed. She clearly knew what she was doing and cared about making sure my little guy wouldn’t have any troubles. The office staff were very friendly and helpful as well.
I have been taking my animals to Briarcliff Animal Clinic for nigh on 27 years now. I would never go anywhere else. My interactions with Drs. Peter Mueller III and Sandra Hedge have always been exemplary, as has the care my animals have received. There are newer, younger vets at the clinic, several whose services Ive used to my complete satisfaction. I could not give a higher recommendation to this clinic.
Wonderful experience with Drs.Bush, Hayes and the entire staff! We relocated from out of state where several friends of ours were vets--to a area where we did not have any personal referrals. We are so happy we brought our cat here. He needed a surgical procedure and we could not have been happier with the care. Very professional, thorough and wonderful communication. THANK YOU!
It would be helpful if all costs were explained prior to the final receipt. My $75 wellness visit became $330. (This included the cost of the Sentinel and the heartworm test.)The vet was very friendly and informative of any issues related to my dog. My only request is to inform the clients of all costs prior to completing the service.
I have used Briarcliff Animal Clinic since 1993. I was local then and they saved my Parvo sheedog pup! I was so thankful. They were amazing. Even after I moved to Suwanee, I still went there for my dogs care.I do rescue now for Old English sheepdogs and because of their 24 hr schedule, they are very convenient for my last minute shelter pulls or people turning in their dogs to me. Recently I used them for just this matter. Since the dogs were drop offs, I spoke with the vet the next day about their health. He spent time with me and let me ask lots of questions. Everyone was really kind and helped out. I refer all of my intown adopters to this clinic. You cant beat a place that has quality people and is open with such convenient hours.
I boarded (and treated) my elderly dog there several times and was happy that shed be near a vet if anything happened (instead of just a boarding house). It was also relatively affordable. However, during my most recent experience, I called to schedule my dog to be boarded over spring break. They scheduled her as usual (she had been there last in July 2017 - less than a year before), no problem. I show up to drop her off & they tell me that instead of $40/day, it would be $7 PER HOUR to board her because she us on medication for seizures. Ill do the math for you - instead of the usual $350-$400 for the week, $7 PER HOUR turns out to be over $1,300. For boarding. For one week. No one told me this when I scheduled the reservation - keeping in mind that my dog has been going to this vet FOR YEARS and was prescribed medication by the vets AT THIS PRACTICE. And they tell me this WHEN I ARRIVE TO DROP MY DOG OFF. So here I am, on my way out of town, with no other real options. All I got was a sorry they didnt tell you and well see what we can do. And then make me wait over 30 minutes to see what they can do...since I had to leave to go on vacation, I left and had to beg my in-laws to keep my dog for the week. And Im not going back after that experience. I was also told that the practice manager would call me to discuss the situation - no phone call. Big surprise. This place is awful.
Please DO NOT bring your dog here for emergency services AND READ FULL REVIEW. Brought in my 1.5 year old pup one night or ER care because he randomly started urinating blood and straining our regular vet wasnt open. Walked in they took my dog while I sat in the waiting room for well over an hour listening to him bark and scream from the back... my dog has separation anxiety and also doesnt like being confined in a crate... hes a young GSP so hes a high energy breed. I know my dog and if ANYONE at all was paying any attention to him he wouldnt be vocal at all, he even wags his tail and sits calmly while the vet examines him which means he sat there unattended not being checked. They pull me into a room give me some lists of things they awant to do X-rays urine analysis etc amounting up to $900. The vet keeps calling my dog a girl! Which is a pretty big deal considering hes an intact male and this is the one case where gender could mean different issues i.e. Prostate and the fact that males have different rates of getting certain infections. So we wait more.. Preliminary tests (feeling him up) show enlarged prostate so of course Im told this causes cancer and I should neuter him soon this could solve issues. (Ive had non neutered dogs for years they were fine) were given medicine to treat what is likely an Infection give it a couple days to work and Ill get results back from urine in 2-3 days. X-rays in a day or so.The next two days I get emailed X-rays where they say his X-rays are clear and only show an enlarged prostate and some hoopla about how its common for CATS to have blood in their urine because of this and such... interesting how He is now a female cat? Did they mix up X-rays or what? This scares me that they are confusing patients. Fast forward a week from the visit and I havent had tests results about his urine so I call... someone gives them to me (guess they were just sitting there) and he has no signs of infection but sometimes they can still have an infection... what? I state my concerns that hes not getting better. They say give it about two weeks more to see the effects of his almost completed 10 day heavy antibiotic. My gut or the fact that Im an over protective dog mom and my pup is my baby says seek another opinion. So we go to our vet they do some X-rays and stuff and seem worried... hes got debris In his bladder and they took him outside for however long it took so they could witness themselves his issues. Btw they say his prostate is normal for an intact male his age and he doesnt need to be fixed its not likely a cause of any issues. My vet wants us to go to a specialist at st Francis to find out what debris is cause in certain cases prefer that someone more specialized and trained take the case... an act I respect and find greatly speaks to the character and also motives of the vet. The specialist finds lots of bladder stones and one is STUCK in the urethra hes likely had these for months and longer. its just small enough to let urine pass but is likely scraping him up and if moves further could completely block the urethra. We are told we need surgery asap as this COULD CAUSE DEATH got it done with our vet not 3 days later and now hes healed up. Can you imagine I waited 2 weeks to see if he got better?? How did Briarcliff X-rays show everything was all clear? See what I mean when I suggested they might have switched up X-rays. My dog could have died if we didnt seek different opinion. I will say though that the staff in the front are AMAZING and the vet techs and the vet we spoke to are nice which is why I changed to 3 stars. Im sure preventative care is great here, not everyone dies well under a pressure emergency scenario.
Excellent qualifications, level of pet care and human service. Ive usually preferred a feline-only veterinary practice, but this is a cat-focused practice within a practice including separate entrance and rooms for cats. Pricing is fair and quality of care excellent. Thanks!
Ive been taking my pets to Briarcliff for, literally, decades. I am so happy that Briarcliff Animal Clinic is nearby and has emergency service 24/7. Ive never had to use it but it is comforting to know. Dr. Hedge is one of the nicest, smartest, kindest veterinarians on the planet, by the way!
60 years ago we moved into our home and soon after that became parents of a collie puppy. Not far from us a young couple were building an animal Hospital. I introduced myself as they were working and preparing to move into the building. From that time until present day Dr. Peter Muller cared for our pets and years ago Dr. Peter Muller Jr. took over. Our pets came and went and we went from dogs to cats as we aged and learned that Kitties were easier to care for. Our last 3 cats actually came from Briarcliff Animal Clinic. We have 2 now who are rescues. All of our pets received the best and loving care and we highly recommend them. From,Phyllis and Jack Dreyfuss
Dr. McNamee and all the staff at Briarcliff are exceptional. Theyre worth every penny! I have an older dog who completely stopped walking. Dr. McNamee treated her with acupuncture and now shes walking!Only took a few visits to get Inky back on her feet and were now getting occasionaly tune-ups. She is a brilliant veterinarian and so kind and caring. Cara McNamee - miracle worker!
On Easter Sunday 2017 I had to say to my 3 legged buddy Chester. The time between him going from being a year old scared mostly feral kitty to my faithful companion of almost 17 years passed like a flash. The only reason I wound up at Briarcliff was Chester took a severe physical and neurological downturn in the span of 48 hours and they were the only local vet that was open at 5:30pm on Easter Sunday. I honestly went in with no expectations but knew I had to get some help for my buddy. The ER vet - Dr. Gray I believe - was absolutely wonderful. She took time to listen to Chesters medical history, complimented my regular vet by telling me she felt everything that had been done was appropriate and best practices, and then told me what I already knew - letting him go was the best way to honor the love hed given me all those years. Once the decision was made she walked me through the whole process before anything was started and gave me all the time and space I needed to say goodbye. I will always be greatful to everyone at Briarcliff for the caring and compassion they showed to me and my little buddy when we both needed it most and no one else was around.
Their hours are great but they’re difficult to work with. I moved to Atlanta and got a heat worm prescription for my dog. We then ran out of heart worm medicine a couple months later and wanted to order via 1800PetMeds but this vet won’t do a resupply of heartworm medicine...I was just there 3 months ago and they want a heart worm test? They make money off appointments and won’t do anything for you unless you go in for an analysis appointment, then a week later a follow up appointment, then you’ll find out they don’t do refills so you need a third appointment. Ridiculous. I drive 2 hours to go to my vet in SC who is much more helpful honestly. Foxnest in Seneca !
I was charged $102.00 for less than 15 munities of service -- a nail trim and gland expression for 2 small dogs. I have been going there for approximately 2 years and have always found their prices high but this takes the cake, If I had dropped them off for a bath plus all the other services , it would have been about #70.00 for both dogs. I had awesome private practice vets in Baton Rouge and also used the vet school at LSU, and while they were not cheap, I was never charged more then $50.00 for such a simple service. Briarcliff Animal Clinic cam highly recommended to me when I move to Atlanta, but I have not been impressed and this just takes the cake. I have paid their high prices because I thought, OK this is Atlanta and it is more expensive, but they are not worth it. On top of that my dogs are scared every time they go and they never had fear of the vet before. What happened behind closed doors that I am not aware of? As soon as I can I will look for another vet and will tell everyone I can not to go to BAC.
Unfortunate experience - better vets elsewhere in ATL. I have visited this vet recently for my canines check-up. This business prioritizes FEES as most important. You will be left with a litany of services they want to perform and feel pressured to do all of them. I declined several and they still did them anyway and charged me with no explanation. They also want check-ups every 6 months vs 1 year so they can double up on the revenue potential.
Good service but keep in mind that you are paying for every cent of their good service. My dogs been coming here since the day I adopted her, and let me just tell you that this place charges triple the price that you would normally get at other places. For starters, they charge $58 for a simple fecal exam which usually runs around $20 at other places. Also, I was planning on taking my dog abroad with me and needed to get a rabies titer done. The vets only collect their sample and send it off to a lab in Kansas for them to do the lab work on it, so obviously nothings done at the vet other than literally drawing blood. When I called to get a quote, BAC said $330 while another vet literally 5 miles down the street said $130. If you google the average cost for rabies titer for dog, you will find that its only $120, which means BAC is ripping you off drawing blood from your dog. I am done with their talk about using the highest quality product. Do you seriously use a syringe and a needle thats so HIGH in quality that you feel the need to charge extra $200 to draw blood?Last time I visited, they kept pushing me to get all these unnecessary things done and made me feel bad when I said no. There was a time when they cleaned my dogs ears, without my consent, and charged me extra $30. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your pet.
I Had been to the top allergy specialist in atlanta and spent thousands on my field spaniel Robert Redford and was at the end of my rope. I decided to return to Briarcliff where I first experienced good care years ago with former pets. With the cuttung edge meds that they prescribed, his allergies became under control in weeks and have been maintained. With Dr. turner’s miracle ear cure, his horrible ear infections are 90% cured. He is a different dog and I can enjoy my guy again. Kudos.
I love the service that they gave us! And they actually saved us THOUSANDS of dollars when another vet diagnosed my cocker spaniel with a torn ACL. Once they got him in and did a examination it was just a sprain. They could have easily taken our money but they were honest and great with our baby; and I will FOREVER be grateful for great service and honestly.
Doctor very nice, informative..front office receptionist and others warm and friendly. Would give them a 10 however communication between discharge post treatment front desk staff and physician could be improved. I had to had to tell front desk staff what medication was ordered. She had to check with doctor to confirm. I had to tell same staff member I needed prescription for HILLS ID canned stew ordered by doctor...had to ask twice....she was sweet just disorganized and not on tap with doctors orders.
Braircliff Animal Clinic should get 10 stars! Once you enter theres always someone immediately greeting you. The Veterinarians are tops in their field, but still take adequate time to talk with you and answer your questions. They, along with everyone at BAC, are wonderful and I trust them completely with my 4-legged kid.
We stopped at Briarcliff Animal Clinic after evacuating from South Florida during hurricane Irma. We had eleven animals (ten cats, one dog) in our care as we foster/rescue. We had been on the road for almost 24 hours at this point due to slow moving evacuation traffic, in the vehicles the whole time as had been unable to find any hotel with vacancies along the highway, and were concerned about the health of the animals who had been carrier and cage-bound for so long. Briarcliff received us with open arms, assessed ten out of the eleven animals (one cat was semi-feral and unable to be handled), provided supportive care to several, then generously offered us complimentary overnight boarding and care for eight of the animals so we could stay with local friends overnight and rest before continuing on our way the next morning. In the midst of an extremely stressful situation, they were absolutely beyond wonderful to us. We had barely slept, we were physically and mentally exhausted and extremely concerned about the health of the animals. The charges we received for the services/care provided to the animals who needed it were extremely reasonable and the staff was patient, caring, supportive and beyond empathetic. Word can not express how grateful we are to Briarcliff and the staff there for being there for us and our animals during the evacuation.
I hereby award one star for at least not killing my dog.So...does your pet like intolerable post-operative pain? This is the place for you! Here is a summary of my recent experience with Briarcliff Animal and Slow Motion Torture Clinic.Blackjack, my 9 year old poodle, had a routine checkup recently. The folks recommended a dental cleaning. I scheduled it promptly.Within the span of a single visit, it went from a dental cleaning...to the recommended extraction of a couple of teeth...to the extraction of six teeth. In a total of 14 separate pieces. The latter of which I only discovered upon picking up Blackjack. From what I can tell, the technique employed was fine and professional. However, their pain management was anything but.I had to two separate conversations wherein I had to debate whether Gabapentin was an appropriate pain medication post-surgery in dogs.Short answer: its effectiveness is anecdotal and controversial at best. If you google it, youll be better informed than the staff at Briarcliff Animal Clinic.I requested something stronger, and was provided with some low dose hydrocodone/acetominaphen pills. I only later belatedly realized that its pretty darn difficult to get a dog to take hard pills when a third of his teeth have been extracted.A few hours after discharge, the initial anesthesia wore off. Blackjack was clearly in significant pain...as you might expect from any carbon based life form that recently had half a dozen teeth pulled.Given that Id already had to practically demand better pain medication...and provided something unusable given the situation...I decided to take Blackjack to a different vet clinic in a desperate attempt to relieve his suffering. The veterinarian at the second clinic was somewhat surprised at the poor pain management provided thus far, and quickly prescribed an oral liquid pain medication. In hindsight, liquid pain management seems to be quite the obvious solution to post operative dental surgery. Im surprised it didnt occur to me. But then again, Im not a veterinarian.Regardless, the new medication effectively solved the problem. Blackjack was comfortable enough to go home, eat some baby food, and get some rest.As anyone who has ever seen a helpless animal suffer can imagine, I was frankly livid at the treatment (or lack thereof) provided by Briarcliff Animal Clinic.I placed a couple of calls in to the clinic, along with sending a couple of emails, to express my displeasure at the increase in extractions that occurred, along with the ineffective pain management provided. That the bill ballooned from $450 to $2400 in the span of a few hours as simply unpleasant icing on top.I received no substantial replies to my messages or emails until more than a week later, when I followed up for a second time, asking if anyone planned on replying to my concerns.Their chief of practice did finally reply. While not directly engaging my criticisms, she asserted that their procedures had been followed, and that their procedures were evidently not open to internal review or debate, regardless of their actual results, and the actual pain caused.Since a genuine evaluation of their procedures seemed off the table, I instead suggested that we both chalk it up to a lesson learned, split the $2400 bill, and go our separate ways. The money is frankly not an issue to me. However, the principal being demonstrated, and the lack of accountability, most assuredly is.Perhaps like other pet owners, I chafe at paying quite so much for what I perceive to be borderline barbaric treatment of an older animal. In keeping with the general disregard thus far, Briarcliff Animal Clinic declined my suggested compromise. That keeping an extra thousand or so dollars is more important to the Clinic than is having satisfied customers should tell you what you need to know.
LOVE this place.I brought in my 18-year-old calico to get treated for a flea allergy.I waited for about 15-20 minutes despite having an appointment because it was busy (I made the appointment the same day). The waiting room was very quiet so my cat was actually very laid back. Reception offered me a drink and was very accommodating. Dr. Ford (I think) took a look at her because she is the cat specialist. She was very calm, gentle, and understanding with Puzzles despite my cat being extremely ornery, unpredictable, and upset/stressed.Dr. Ford went over a treatment plan for me and even took into consideration that my cat is geriatric and offered me options that were going to be better for her heart/kidneys/liver. She recommended a full bloodwork lab to be done because Puzz is older, but I did not feel forced or guilt tripped. Aside from the medications, I also updated my cat on her rabies vaccination. In total, I paid about $140.00 for a steroid, antibiotic shot, and the rabies vaccination. Definitely did not leave a hole in my wallet. Also, the prednisolone Rx she gave me only cost $34, rather than $500 (because they are on backorder everywhere right now). Also, Puzz got a free check-up because Briarcliff Animal Clinic has an ongoing free check-up coupon. It saved me around $60. You must print it out and bring it in, but definitely worth it!Hope this helps :)
My dog, Gabriel, received excellent care as always during his last visit, which included an annual physical and an unscheduled surgery to remove of a benign mass behind his left ear. The surgery went smoothly and Gabriel is back to feeling great as usual. So many thanks to all the Briarcliff Animal Clinic doctors and staff for taking such good care of Gabriel and his parents!
My dog has been a patient of Dr. Bannister and Dr. Muller for several years. At this point I would not trust her care to anyone else. Both doctors are dedicated to their profession. The love for their profession and the animals they treat permeates during each visit.
Dr. Murdoch makes you feel like she has something better shed rather be doing when seeing your pet. She is too quick on the draw to charge for any and everything. The rest of the staff Id give 5 stars though! All very genuinely nice, and informative. I trust them with my dog!
Ive had a long history with Briarcliff, it always depends on which Doctor you see but overall they greet you as soon as you come in and have made a lot of improvements. Im sad because I dont currently have any pets but Briarcliff was always willing to update me and take care of my pets as if they were their own.

Review №1
2022-05-15I had to come to after-hours care because my dog had blood in her stool. I was a little nervous because some of the recent reviews were negative. I had a great experience. All the other emergency vet clinics said they had at least a 4 hour wait, but when I called VCA put me on their appointment list and got me in right away. The front desk staff were lovely. They had me wait in a separate room from my dog, but I heard her whining and asked if we could wait in the same room and they brought her to me right away. The vet (Dr Reed) was great. She was obviously very competent, and talked through with me all the possible treatments and costs. I told her that I wanted to put my dog’s health first, but I was a poor grad student and asked her, with that in mind, what she recommended. She was honest and worked with me on the things she thought was most important to do today, and what treatment options we could wait on, based on how my dog does over the next few days. Overall everyone was very nice, very communicative, and willing to work with me based on my needs and the needs of my pet. Also, I enjoyed their hot cocoa at the front desk.

2022-06-04I was a veterinary technician for 12 years or so. I used to work with one of the doctors before they were hired by VCA and moved to this location. I look up to and respect her because she is intelligent, thorough, kind, and truly loves the animals.Ive seen A LOT in the field as a technician. Not all of it good. So after I retired and it came to deciding where to take my own pets now that I no longer worked in hospital, this doctor was the one I thought of. I now drive a full 45 minutes to an hour to this location just to see her. And she is STILL intelligent, thorough, kind, and loves the animals all these years later. This hospital also has a separate entrance for cats, and a cat only waiting room, which was HUGE for me and my scared kitty. They are also transparent with prices and will give you an estimate before doing anything. And because of my background, I can tell you that they have good up-to-date safety protocols when it comes to things like anesthesia, dentals, and surgery, which matter FAR more than many might realize.Great location, great people, and as safe as medicine can be with the understanding that all procedures come with risk.

2022-06-01VCA Briarcliff is hands down the best vet weve ever had. The staff and doctors are always kind, professional, and helpful. I am constantly impressed by and grateful for the care they provide for our pets. One of our dogs, a rescue, has severe anxiety and a handful of other health needs--VCA Briarcliff is the only place we trust to care for him when we go out of town. He boards there every time were away and they always take such good care of him.Would 10/10 recommend VCA Briarcliff to anyone looking for a vet in the Atlanta area!

2022-04-15I took my dog here in June of ‘21. They grossly mistreated my dog. After paying hundreds for care, he was significantly dehydrated and experiencing stomach complications to the point of near death. It wasn’t until we took him to our local vet that they gave him an IV and adequate medication.Regarding the quality of vets and care, it was also poor. Specifically, I had to wait outside for 30mins to get him even seen. Then less than an hour later “they were done”. They then said we “had” to buy medicated food for the dog. In comparing prices, they overcharged and over sold the volume necessary for something our local vet said we didn’t need.I highly recommend not taking any animal here. It is a national chain, which based on their better business bureau profile and other reviews, over billing and misdiagnosis are a norm. Don’t let some the owners half baked responses on my review trick you into thinking this is a well run vet hospital that cares. They are part of a corporation that is more concerned with bottom line and growth than quality of care. Don’t go here.

2022-02-15Charged nearly $700 to treat surface-level symptoms in my cat without identifying the actual problem. I took him to another vet the next day and they found a serious kidney issue within minutes of being examined, just by feel. The staff is super-friendly, and for that they get a star. Never risking another pets well-being by bringing them here again. VCA - if you want to argue that you needed the lab results - you still missed what should be a clear sign by simply feeling my cats organs. You didnt do that.

2022-03-08I do not leave reviews but this place has is so bonkers they have left me no choice. My 11 year old Basset Hound mix is having a bout with vestibular disease (Vertigo) I see the horizontal eye movement, drunken walk, head tilt, everything. I have seen this in dogs before was the only reason I did not freak thinking she was having a stroke. I figure this is gestational and will pass most likely in 72 hours. I figured I would call and see if I can get some anti-nausea medicine to help her and see if this resolves before bringing her in for an exam if it does not. I have seen this as a recommendation in older dogs experiencing this for the first time. They wanted to force me to bring my dog in for a physical examination before being willing to prescribe a simple anti nausea medication. Now normally I would air on the side of caution and bring the dog in but this place thinks a WHOLE lot of their services. A single X-ray costs well over $400. They charge you like your pet is a human and is participating in our health care system. The reason it costs that much for people is because the hospital jacks up the cost to insurance. Now this place does it for your animal. They know you will pay because you are scared and you love your pet and they prey on that.I have spent over $1,500 in vet bills being safe on their recommendation.I told them once that my dog had eaten a foreign object and I was afraid it was creating a blockage. They had nobody that could deal with the problem nor the correct tools. Did they tell me this when I called asking should I bring my dog to them? Nope. Took her back did an X-ray said here is the location of the people that can do something about it and charged me almost $500.If it is an emergency and you have really good pet insurance have at it. For anyone else I do not recommend this place. They will put profits over your pets health every time.

2022-06-06Wonderful experience at VCA. Had to take my baby Beau in last minute on Sunday and they got us checked in, seen, and checked out within 45 min. Even though it turned out to be a minor thing (thank goodness!), they took the time to exam him thoroughly to make sure he was ok. Every single staff I spoke with was kind and knowledgeable. Very affordable considering it was urgent care on a Sunday. Thanks for all your help, y’all rock!

2022-01-27Dr. Emily Benfield is AMAZING. We took our dog for an emergency check today. John at the registration desk was so helpful and took our baby back immediately. Dr. Benfield was so extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She sat with us and answered all of our questions (we had a lot) intellectually and in depth without rush. Her honesty was the pinnacle of our experience for our first visit at VCA Briarcliff.
