Went here on a Wednesday evening, it wasnt very busy. The restaurant seemed clean and had a good vibe. Service was friendly but not very attractive. The food did come out fast though. I had the #7- Chile relleno, beef enchilada (both good but tiny), Spanish rice and refried beans. Overall it was pretty good and decently priced. The person I went with had the taco salad, which was a good size but not the best quality.
My husband and I went for lunch and was recommended by the reception lady at our hotel.service:we were greeted pleasantly and seated quicklygot our drinks orders and placed our orders and got our food in a timely fashionfood:chips and salsa were ok....the salsa tasted fresh...could use some extra texture...like.. onions, cilantro,in other words like a chunkier salsa..until we found out it is not made in house.food looked good and it tasted very good, the beans could of used a little more seasoning and spice, but, it was fineprices...very reasonable.but all in all it was a good experience and if Im in town again, I would return.
In the area for work and decided to eat here since it was close. Great decision! The food is really good! I had a grilled fish taco and my husband had a huge plate of chicken and steak fajitas. Their chips and dip were delicious. Chips were perfectly crisp and salsa was fresh. We ate outside under the covered patio area and there was a nice breeze. Staff was very nice and service was great. We would visit again when in the area.
The food is good the service is good as well. Menu is minimal but everything tastes good. I had the steak taco salad. My friend had burrito Supreme & my cousin had the steak street tacos. All were well seasoned & quickly prepared. Their chips & salsa was trash but the queso was good
On 07/09/20, I took a party of 6 into this restaurant for dinner around 7:45 pm. The service when first arriving was good. Salsa and chips brought right away with drinks. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and asked the lady how was waiting on us if the chicken was shredded she replied yes. Her answer should have been we will pop a can of Walmart chicken open and dump in center of quesadilla. When my food came there was a small tortilla shell on top browned and melted cheese was poured over a clump of can chicken in the middle and a soggy bottom tortilla which had not been browned at all. I was willing to try a single bite which I should have passed on because once the bite hit my tongue it tasted and smelt like can cat food! It was so disgusting that I had to dispose in napkin. Other orders at my table consisted of a beef nachos ( they had opened can of chicken and poured over including juice from can-no beef at all) returned food along with quesadilla. Another dish that was brought to the table was a combo hard shell taco and enchilada; the family member that ordered this bite into beef taco and began to chew breaking an entire outer portion of a back molar completely off. We called for the young lady who waited on us to come over; we addressed the tooth breaking with her and she made a joke but never brought management over to apologize or address the injury at all. We had 2 children at the table who could not eat their food due to smell and appearance. This is the most disgusting place that I have ever entered in Augusta! The management came to the front where we were standing, waiting to address the bill and the fact that not one person in our party could eat their food, He took the bill from me and as I started to speak to him he started speaking Spanish to another employee. Very unprofessional especially when 2 members of my party can speak fluent Spanish. I would NEVER recommend this run down place to anyone! The restrooms are gross and water pours from the ceiling when you walk in door.. toilets were so nasty I could not allow grandchild to use. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Waste of time and money!
We have never experienced this before. Our waitress was extremely rude, and it seemed to be directed to my boyfriend. We were nice to her. He finally said something to her asking if she was having a bad day. She seemed to calm down a little but she was very quick to walk away from us. I dont think we will be back.
Horrible experience!! Stopped coming thru on I-20 for lunch and felt we were imposing. We were the only customers…maybe that should have been the “red flag”. Host was rude and the waitress followed with really bad attitude. My daughter and I are longtime food and beverage servers and understand everyone has a bad day. Their work ethic was beyond that. Food was mediocre and we honestly questioned between us what we might be served.
I sat at the bar. The food wasnt as good as I expected. The chips and salsa had no flavor. The tortillas were the bright spot. The staff were nice. And they did a bunch of birthdays with only one Sombrero. I was there on a Friday so they used the same hat the same time more than once. I left after hearing them sing the second time. I wasnt expecting this.Half the staff hung out inside talking with each other about how hot it is. THE REST OF THE STAFF worked really hard.
Cool and quiet. The atmosphere was pretty good. Food came out fast but it wasnt crowded at all. The food was ok. We had drinks and they werent too bad at all. The place was pretty clean. I really couldnt tell if they were practicing social distancing and cleaning up after the guest because it was not crowded at all.
My wife and I were traveling from Alabama back to North Carolina and decided to stop in Augusta for the night. Check out some places to eat and decided to try this place. Hands down some of the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. I am retired military and have been a lot of places and I can say without hesitation that this is top notch. The service was great and the prices were awesome. Next time we travel this way will have to stop.
If its your first time having Mexican food, and all that you are used to is Taco Bell, immediately slap yourself to get that thought out of your head. They have soda and hard liquor for you to enjoy either before, or with, your meal. They also have an outdoor area, which I feel would be better served when the temperature rises to a high and steady degree outside. The staff is very attentive after you sit down, and I enjoyed the food. Looking forward to making another stop in whenever the occasion arises for me
Our experience wasnt that great. First off we ordered cheese dip with no jalapenos for the pre meal chips and our waitress brought us dip with them, then disappeared. We had to tell the manager that we needed new dip, he said that theyll have to make some; all the pre-made dip has jalapenos in them. We didnt get the new dip until our entrees came. That was a waste. My wife ordered three tamales and she said they werent good. She asked the waitress if they were beef or pork and the waitress said ground beef. They were kind of ground beef. Inside was some kind of shredded meat with ground beef sprinkled on top. If the waitress had been forthcoming my wife wouldnt have got them. She said the ground beef was greasy too. I got the enchiladas supreme (4 enchiladas) and the chicken one was not good at all and the ground beef was not good, an odd taste (not spoiled just not good), although it wasnt greasy for me. I ordered a side of refried beans and they pretty much had no taste. As in another review I saw our waitress disappear for long periods of time. The restaurant was not that busy, in fact I asked my wife if the waitress had a bunch of sections to try to give her the benefit of the doubt. My wife said it didnt look like it. I defer to her regarding tips and waitress duties since she started as a waitress at 12 years old in her familys barbecue restaurant and was a waitress on and off after her mom closed the restaurant until a few months after we were married at 25 years old.Our niece is starting college in Augusta this fall and so we probably will visit her a couple of times a year. This will not be an option to take her out to eat.
For many years this vinue had the top of the line entertainment and food every Friday and Saturday veracruz was standing room only with manager Daniel and entertainment by Denny who was on the road in music for years. I fact I was there today Daniels staff are wonderful employees and he has the best cooks.
Ive been coming here a long time. I recently just came back and ordered a shrimp taco salad which use to have rice, beans, Guacamole and sour cream, salad, lettas, cheese then then the meat. the owner has started skipping out on what he puts in it to save money. The salad now only came with a bird shell and lettas sour cream and shrimp. I wasnt happy to pay almost 10 dollars for that. I asked to get at least a 2 dollar discount on it and they wouldnt even do that. What has happen to this place. Sadly we will never go back.
It was a Saturday night around 8pm. We decided to go and were seated right away. The service was great. They were very attentive. We order a large pitcher of frozen lime margaritas. Good taste, not too strong. We had chicken fajitas and pork canitas. Both were very large servings and great tasting. Enough that we were able to take some home. Thanks for dinner.
Absolutely horrid. The food was NOT good, I was served drinks that had been sitting so long the ice was melted, the sour cream was gritty (as if it had been frozen) and the server would disappear for extended periods of time. The upside is that the server was very nice and friendly when they were there.
Absolutely awful. Friday night sat at the bar got a menu, chips and salsa.Salsa was ketchup and hot sauce. Waited 15 minutes at the bar . No one asked if I wanted a drink . Gave them 10 more minutes still no service . There were only 2 other people at the bar. No excuse. I got up and left. I NEVER get up and leave. Good luck to you, I wont be back
It was terrible and I regret going. The food all came out of a can and was gross with a only a minor resemblance to Mexican food. Frankly, calling it Mexican food is an insult to Mexican food. It was salty and I had to flag down my inattentive waitress to get a glass of water.
Food was fast and well marinated flavors in the meat (carne asada) and the side dips (slasa, guacamole, and cheese) had more flavor than other competitors in the local area. All of the staff was friendly. the only room for improvement was it took a little to payout after receiving our ticket.
One thing I love when eating is people watching. And on the back deck I can enjoy a beer while watching the cars go by! Call me old fashioned but it doesnt get better than that. Service is always cordial and prompt. Ive never had bad service here and Ive been coming for years. Its a local favorite tucked away behind the Washington road I-20 exit. Stop by today!
We went and were sat in the corner with only 1 table inside and people at the bar. Was not busy at all for it being 3pm. We got our chips and salsa and put in our drink orders and 3-3:20 we waited for our drinks which we never got. The three waitresses working were sitting eating and playing the lottery and kept looking at us. If you go to eat, hope you have time to wait
Went here on 8/11/20 with my roommate... service and food was horrible. Asked 3 times for water... Took like 20 minutes before we got it. Then I ordered cheese enchiladas... They were greasy and soggy... Sticking to the plate. She ordered ground beef chimichanga and it was like shredded beef. Waitress was horrible... Wont be back to this location.
The food was good, and prices were reasonable. Doesnt really taste homemade, though. I dont drink, but from looking at others drinks, Id say this is a pretty good spot for alcohol. Fun atmosphere, a tad bit rowdy (maybe because it was karaoke night or the drunk party of 20). Nice outdoor seating. All in all, I would recommend Veracruz Restaurant.
Now my fiance and I, and a group of his coworkers and there wives all dined in at this establishment last Saturday. And I have to say that I was really disappointed and taken aback by how my fiance was charged, twice, for something he didnt even asked for in the first. Only to later find out that his coworker had been duped also by paying extra as well. Which increased the bill size drastically. And to top it all off, the drink I ordered tasted really old and watered down. It was absolutely disgusting to even get another sip in. However, the only part that can salvage this rapport is on how well the food still tasted. And the customer service was fairly well also. But, other than that, the experience was, overall, was very disappointing compared to when I started going there and made that one of my go to places after church. But a lot seems to have changed there. And I cant point my finger on it, whether it be management in terms of hiring a right and responsible crew. Which I highly doubt that was the case in this latest debacle. Or, could it be the case against the man who was our waiter, for not appropriately notating the right items that was supposed to be on the bill. Yet carelessly added extra items, in what seems to be an in direct form of price gauging on our bill. That needs to be look into further, or else, this establishment may not remain in this location for long. But first, start by hiring the right crew that are honest, and not careless either. Then make sure that soda beverage dispenser is either cleaned up or change the filter so that the drinks wont taste syrupy and watered down.
Got in late and caught up with our customer here for dinner and drinks. Excellent food, the carne asada was stellar. The Margaritas were large and generous with the Tequila. We had a great time for two hours and nearly closed the place down. Highly recommended. It is also within walking distance of several hotels which makes it easier to drink several Margaritas.
The food tasted good, the service was fine, the waiter was nice, and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The restaurant looked relatively clean. But I appear to have gotten mild food poisoning from the pollo chipotle I ordered last night. I would have assumed it was just my stomach acting up, but at least one other member of the group that I went to dinner with also ended up with stomach issues. The waiter also couldn’t tell me if the tortilla chips had wheat in them or not, which for some people could be a life or death thing, for me it’s more of a situation where I feel poorly for days. If you want to risk the food poisoning, feel free, but I personally don’t plan on eating there again
First hostess tried to seat party that came in after me. When I brought this to the attention of the hostess, she took an attitude with me and sat me at what I feel was the worst table in the restaurant. Then it took a waiter over 10 minutes to even ask for what I wanted to drink. When I asked for the manager and told him of my experience, his only response was an apology and an assurance of quick service. Totally inadequate. No telling what they would have done to my food. I left. Would score them lower if possible.
Sorriest excuse for a restaurant I have ever seen. The Mexican food tasted like it was right out of the can, None of the bartenders spoke English and the manager had to take my drink and food order. The prices were low, but I would rather pay more for something edible. I wont be going back.
The service was friendly and fast. The prices are very reasonable. The food was authentic and full of flavor. The only bad thing was the guacamole was very spicy. My little one loves Guacamole and was unable to eat it. I asked if they had guacamole that wasnt as spicy, the waiter offered me a plain avocado.
My first time at this location was horrible. My bestfriend and I walked in and felt like we were being rushed even though all we wanted was drinks. The waitress even had the nerve to check her phone to look at the time. Also, right after passing us our Margaritas she immediately passed us the check then said whenever you ready. Granted it was 20 minutes until closing, however, there was plenty of people there actually eating and all we wanted to do was drink Margaritas at the bar. Never again will I give this location my hard earned money.
I eat here every Monday night and have been for almost 3 years. We have a wonderful relationship with the owner and the well qualified staff. They know us by name and we dont even have to tell them what we want to drink, they already know. They wait on us like family! For the ultimate Mexican dining experience, just come to VERA CRUZ.
I was a little disappointed going here. They seemed well staffed, but the whole time I fought to get someones attention. I got the steak fajitas and I was pretty underwhelmed, they didnt really taste like much and were kinda soggy. Thought I would try this place out because it was close to my hotel, but I probably wont come back.
I have never been to this restaurant before and not a huge mexican dinner fan. This place was so much better. It was so much better than the others. I ordered a burrito special. It was huge! It tasted delicious! The people working there were so nice and really made you feel welcome. The chips and salsa was delicious with a large portion of cheese. We had a large group which sometimes causes a problemelse where but not there. Plenty of places to sit. Great evening and will definately come back!! I like mexican now!
THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY!!! Waitresses steal if you tip on your cards. If you wanna eat here please pay cash. My friends and I went to dinner on Friday 1/26 and the waitress added a $30 to my tip amount, I checked my statement today since Bill is coming due. I work hard for my money and I still give 20% or better tips. I can not believe this and then the manager just told me they wont be able to talk to me about this until Wednesday. She is stealing and doesnt deserve to work with the public. But yet you all cant discuss this matter til almost a week after the fact. The manager Daniel didnt even seem phased when I explained the miss charge nor did he want to hear it.
Nothing necessarily negative. Just nothing sets them apart from most other restaurants which serve same type of cuisine. They were pretty busy so our drinks & food & refills took much longer to receive. Employees were friendly. Bathroom situation, especially for the ladies, is not good. Tiny, tiny, bathroom in much need of attention.
This Restaurant was the worst ever. Went there for Cinco DeMayo and they had no help , from the time we walked in we were treated rudely .. the host that seated us had a bad attitude , seated us took at least 30 minutes to get a drink , then we had to basically flag her down to get some queso dip when she approached the table she had an attitude and said she was busy , basically with a table of 6 that wore her out . Rolled her eyes and took our order where she rolled her eyes as she did so .. thirty minutes later still no food , we were out of drinks and my bf went to the front and told them to cancel the order .. this place was very unprepared for cinco De Mayo and it showed .. I would never go back to this restaurant again .. Stay Away!!

Inexpensive, fast service, and good food. I have been here about 6 times and never had any problems. I usually get the chicken and steak fajitas or the Super Dinner. After I order the food is on my table in 5-10 minutes. I wish they would provide more tortillas with the fajitas because the portion size is large. If you are looking for decent food at an inexpensive price with fast service, then this is the place for you. They often have live Mexican music at night on the weekends. Nice patio outside for eating but I prefer to have a window seat inside so I can watch the illegal activity go on at the motel across the parking lot.
The hostess lost all interest once I told her I wanted to place a To-Go order. My order was extremely simple...steak tacos on a corn tortilla double wrap only onions and cilantro with limes on the side. I didnt want the rice and beans that come with it on the side. Instead, I got no limes, tacos werent double wrap, but I did get what I didnt want. She had a nasty attitude and said something in a different language. Im sorry youre having a bad day or dont like your job...stay home next time. Rude on another level!!!!
Im from Texas, so I know good Tex-Mex. Food was pretty good, salsa and queso was really good. Service was fast and friendly. Only issue ,waitress got my order wrong, and it was a little bit more than what I would pay back home, but overall one and half thumbs up!Jon, from Texas
They’ve been getting my order wrong the last two times. I don’t eat meat, all I wanted was nachos with tomato, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guacamole.I asked for two cheese quesadillas. They made meat quesadillas. I called, and they only send me one cheese quesadilla to replace the two they fixed wrong and charged me for.I used to enjoy going here to eat, because the entertainment is nice, food taste good, but I can’t continue getting the wrong food and being over charged.
Server didnt seem interested in serving us. The food was bland. The cheese sauce was watery. Also the server mixed up my uncles drink with another customers and she laughed about it before fixing it. The worst thing is that it was a refill so my uncle almost drank after a stranger.
Every time I wanted something I waited 10 minutes then had to flag a waitress down, she was standing at bar chatting with coworkers. Went to mens room had to ask for soap to be put in dispenser , restroom was filthy. The restaurant did score a 90 on their last health inspection. Judge for yourself
Food is very good. Service is fast. Decor is great. Veracruz is one of my favorite restaurants. A reviewer below mentioned he was used to spicier Mexican food. Ok. Go back to Veracruz and this time ask them to fix your dish spicier. I assure you they will accomodate you.As for hot sauce on the table, I will give you that. However, if you ask for hot sauce they will gladly bring you a bottle.
Not happy with the way the restaurant has changed from great authentic Mexican food to lazy workers with hangovers from the karaoke the night before...food tasted reheated. Def not as fresh as the old veracruz days. What happened to carlos???? He is the missing link to their greatness.
First of the Margaritas were cheap and pre made. My husbands shirmp chimichunga was good but my beef and chicken burritos and my sons chicken enchiladas was the worst i ever tasted. The tomato sauce was ragu and taco bell is much better. Just go for the beer specials. They cant mess that up...smh

2021-12-28* Monday Night - Not many other customers on this night. Greeted quickly with Chips, Salsa & Water. Food was served promptly, Fajitas were great, Burrito Plate was good - however food was not hot, (temperature).* Restaurant was clean and tables were clean, though didnt see staff using an actual labeled bottle of disinfectant - only towels.* David, Manager took time to check on each table!

2022-06-16This is the absolute worse restaurant I have ever eaten at. The margarita was amazing. The food and service.....eh...horrible. The quasadilla came out and was completely soggy. The waitress never came back to check on us, and we had to call someone over to assist. Upon showing the food and how limp and soggy it was, the guy kind of just starred and ask if something else was wanted. We requested a chicken quasadilla, not soggy. It came back partially burned, and with a wad of what clearly looked like canned chicken with a smidgen of cheese. Lacks quality food and customer service. Would not recommend.

2022-02-23The food was good and service prompt despite being rather on a Tuesday night. Tex-Mex with the usual offerings. The margarita was good as were the chicken Flautas, which had plenty of chicken. Good food and good service. Lucky to have an 80° F day in February to enjoy the patio.

2022-04-29Big portions at a fair price. Old building, terrible parking lot. Fair service. Good tea but took awhile to get a refill. Chicken soup too salty, not enough veggies. Nothing else really tasted at all, not bad, just not that good.

2022-06-14Absolutely horrible! Service was very disappointing. All the servers had major attitudes. No one was helpful or attentive. The food was absolutely disgusting, bland and gross. I would rather eat off of a bathroom floor than go here and waste my time and money on this hole. I don’t know how they are still in business. The need to close. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

2022-04-28One of the best Hispanic places on wrightsboro road. Great karaoke night and the food is inexpensive. Many of the staff have been there for up to 15 years in my experience of going there. Highly recommend!

2022-03-15Great service, very friendly, food was delicious, but theres a slight (language) barrier between the servers and me. Although delicious, the food wasnt exactly as I ordered it at my last two visits, due to the server(s) not quite understanding exactly what I was saying.

2020-01-31Loved it! Delicious Mexican food with amazing staff. Very attentive and accommodating. We had the loaded nachos and they were delicious. You can sit outside which has both heaters and fans depending on the temp. Outside is relaxing and less hectic. A definite hidden gem I highly recommend. The best part is you can walk to the restaurant from numerous hotels in the area.
