Have loved this restaurant for at least 10 years, always fantastic food and great staff. Tonight (7/30) felt compelled to write a review. This restaurant has a history of long-term staff (speaks well of the management), Tonight the young lady covering the floor was astounding in energy and service to EVERYONE!
Description for Goat Cheese Deluxe on website:Crumbled Italian sausage, goat cheese and mozzarella.Pizza I received had red peppers and onions in addition to description above....both of which I do not eat nor would have ordered. For the cost of this pizza I am extremely annoyed.
Food was good. Service and organization lacking significantly. The manager in the photo did nothing except stand around the entire time we were there. Not sure what his role is but he could have been a big help to team members who were very busy and to customers. Unfortunate.
I ordered from this place based on the recommendation of a couple of friends that live in the area and I wasnt disappointed. The owner is from New York, so he/she should know how to make Italian food.I ordered a stromboli stuffed with pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers. I also ordered a large Greek salad. My order was ready just as I was pulling up, in about 15 minutes, just as they said. The Greek Salad:They skimped on no ingredients - lettuce, kalamata olives, pepperoncini that werent drowning in juice, feta cheese, onion, thick tomato slices, chickpeas (wait... chickpeas?), croutons, thick slices of cucumber, an ample amount of a delicious vinaigrette dressing, and who knows what else. It was so good, although I thought chickpeas in a Greek salad was just a little unusual. Im not complaining, though. The Stromboli:Excellent! You know how the edges of strombolis are usually just dough with nothing stuffed there? Not this one. It had stuff - pepperoni, shrooms, green peppers - all the way to the ends and stuffed into the ends! Doughy, empty stromboli ends must be their pet peeve, too. This is just my personal preference, but I would have liked the stromboli sauce to be a little more acidic and garlicky to suit my New England Italian palate. Still, most excellent. Dinging them on that would be like me dinging them for not setting up shop closer to where Im staying for the remainder of the week. Conclusion:This is a little pond of really good New York-style Italian food in a sea of places that serve Italian food without understanding what good Italian food really is. Dig in and give it a try. You wont be disappointed.
Had this for the first time last week. I eat NY style pizza everywhere I can find it just to try it out and compare. This place is legit. Very NY. Extremely thin, good crunch, tasty... I will be back with friends. They offer Sicilian on Wednesdays so I will be back on a Wednesday as well.
My wife and I both like Italian food but have a distinct preference for some dishes from a particular restaurant over the same dish from another similar restaurant. We go to Verra Zanno when we want Eggplant Parmesian. The Eggplant is fresh and we really like the taste of the sauce. The staff is friendly and attentive.
I enjoyed it! My daughter prefers the taste of Papa Johns pizza, but shes 15 and never been to NY. I enjoyed the fresh pizza. I even ate a chicken salad, which I enjoyed. I dont usually eat salads. The waiter was super attentive and pleasant. Im big on service, no matter where I go....
Pretty good lunch combinations. Place gets busy during lunch and dinner time so you want to avoid rushing time if you dont have enough time waiting for seats and ordered food. Stromboli was nice with relatively fresher ingredients than other places. I would visit again with my pizza lovers!
The pizza here tastes as much like NYC pizza as any place outside of NYC. And I get the stromboli regularly, which I really like a lot.I agree with other reviews who suggest going only with takeout on Friday and/or Saturday nights. The restaurant is small, and it gets crowded and crazy on those nights. The food is still as great with takeout, though!
An upscale pizzeria, sit-down service with a full menu. Its a bit hard to see from the road (Medlock) so you may want to have Navigator up the first time you visit. I had the 12 San Gennaro pizza which away quite good. This crust with provolone, sausage, peppers and onions. Service was fast and friendly. They serve alcohol but I did not partake. Will definitely visit again.
I ordered the roasted garlic chicken pasta and it was so much better than the best pasta dish Ive had at fancy expensive restaurants! It is a huge portion, piping hot and comes with a big salad and loaf of bread. So good, I will be coming back because I know Ill crave this dish all the time.
Friendly staffs and amazing pizza in Johns Creek. I discover this place by accident. It was somewhat hidden in the corner of a small building and sign was not standing out to my eyes. One day we were craving for a pizza and Google the pizza around the area and found the place and it wasnt even our first choice. Now this is one of our favorite place in Johns Creek. Fried eggplant pizza is a must!
Very good pizza, deducted 3 stars because was told I couldnt get a half cup refill because I ordered to-go but decided to sit down quickly and eat my 2 slices and beverage there. Left with a dry mouth full of pizza crust crumbs. Fun ride back to the office. Bad customer experience
Stopped in for dinner on travel and was impressed. Ive heard a few complaints about getting good pizza in these parts... Well I can tell you the pizza I had tonite was as good as or better than Ive had up north! Waitress was a bang up job too! Ill be back for sure! :)
Showed up at 7:55 and even the clock on the wall inside the restaurant said 7:55 and they said we are closed (at eight) and their systems lock them out automatically. Drove from Lake Lanier to have some good pizza. Won’t do that again. They post their hours one-way they change their hours daily the and then when someone shows up to eat there they lock you out early. Horrible customer service. After many many years will never go back
Best NY style pizza in the area. They use a deck oven which is one of the secrets to a great pie and the crust is crisp. The subs are great as well as they make their own sub rolls. And they have a decent beer selection as well if you are dining in. No delivery, but its good enough that its work the drive.
We just had a great first experience at Verra Zanno. The rolls were fresh and tasty. The side salad that came with the entrees was surprisingly large. The entree portion sizes were large. We ordered pasta arrabiata, which was a little spicier than expected, and chicken parmesan. Both dishes were delicious. This will be our regular place going forward for Italian food.
We are regular diners at Verra Zanno for several years and it’s been a very special place for us to meet local friends or take our visiting families over for pizza. We love their Greek salad and always order a big one. There pizza is fresh and so flavorful, but yesterday my son and I went for dinner and ordered a small Greek salad, Gluten free gourmet pizza with sweet roasted peppers, and Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and vegetables which came with a small house salad. The food tasted bland and did not have any flavor to it. The tomato in the salad tasted bad so I left it. There was barely any taste to the salads or the main entrees which is so unusual. We told our server and he apologized. We asked for spicy oil to make it flavorful and he didn’t have any. We did give our feedback to the manager while paying for our food. She did listen to our feedback and apologized. Within half an hour of having the food our stomach started feeling queezy. Both of us had an upset stomach and are still dealing with it.Being the loyal customers of Verra Zanno for so many years, we feel it’s very important to praise when the food is good (which we ALWAYS do) but also to give a feedback when there is a slip.Hope Verra Zanno will review the reason for such a slip and make improvements. Thanks!Shefali Rajesh Srivastava
Tasty food but beware if you have allergies. They will not take your allergies seriously. Not sure if it was waitress or kitchen at fault. But nothing like spending hours upon hours doubled over in pain because someone didnt listen about your allergies. My boss loved it when I had to leave because I was too busy vomiting and being in pain to get my work done. I gave the restaurant multiple chances, I know accidents can happen. 3rd time getting sick was the last.
Do not eat here!If you dont care about your self respect or dignity, go ahead. The pizza is mediocre at best. You can get just the same from any other pizza place in the same area but at least they will treat you better. I was disallowed from entering the restaurant because I had water in a styrofoam cup. What a joke! I have personally experienced and witnessed the horrendous service given by incompetently trained waitresses who signed up for the completely wrong job. I think it is common sense that your customers are more important than your little attitude problems. Unfortunately, the training manual for this company includes a segment on how you should be as rude as possible to your customers and make them feel awful. Without us, you would be out of business. The LEAST you could do is stop being rude and treat others with a little respect.Tldr; Dont go here unless you want to be spit at by nasty waitresses with attitude problems.
Used to luve close, but now we have to drive across Alpharetta to get here but is always worh it!Never had a bad food experience here, and people are always friendly and accommodating. They have a good beer selection that changes regularly, and the portion to cost ratio is good too!Try their antipasti salad, fettuccine alfredo, and lasagna if you are looking for a couple of suggestions!
I ordered the Large Provolone pizza that had very little crumbled Italian Sausage on it, and the onions and bell peppers were suppost to have been carmelized, but were still raw.The sauce was not like true pizza marinara sauce. The bottom of the pie wasboverdone, and the crust was to.I heard from so many people how much they love the pizza here...If you want real pizza with very generous and real top quality ingredients, stick with the Chicago pizza places. Also Mamma Mias Pizza down by Northpoint Mall is realllllllly good!
DO NOT COME HERE!Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Apparently I am officially not allowed back to the restaurant because I left a scathing review. Got the sassiest treatment from the manager who had an extreme attitude. She replied to my review on Yelp telling me that I am an idiot, cheap, and was told to go crawl back to my hole. Did not expect this type of treatment from the manager or the staff. They upcharged us a lot for chicken the last time we went and have scammed us on the pricing several times that we have been there. This restaurant is a joke.
Stromboli tasted fine, but there was a ton load of grease. If you come in during rush hour with you and a friend, most likely theyll put you in a huge booth even if you are a party of 2. Stromboli lunch special that day was sitting on top of the oven pre-made, not fresh.
Food is tasty and prices are affordable, plus the lady at the counter is really friendly and nice, just awesome . This might sound weird but you have to try their coke I swear It taste better than any other restaurants, hell I would come here just for drinks if I wanted a coke.
I thought it was the worst pizza I ever ate in my life being from new york growing up not far from verrazano bridge that pizza was absolutely terrible no sauce no taste girl behind the counter has no idea what pizza is. I would never recommend that pizza place to anybody absolutely waste of money. Youre better off eating Papa Johns instead of that crap.
We regularly visit which is both good and bad.The food quality is good however, the wait staff is very assumptive.Be very sure about your order and repeat what you order back to the wait staff. They tend to assume what your want. When the order comes out wrong, you feel regret and do not challenge the wit staff to correct it.
This place has descent food; however the management is lacking. The manager is brash and rude. Embarrassed me in front of my co-workers and other patrons. Do not come to this place. The owner should know that it is not what is said, it is how it is said. People of color should take their patronage somewhere else.

2022-06-03I got the lunch with a Greek salad and slice (gourmet slice of the day - pepperoni, sliced sausage, onions). The feta on the Greek salad was great! The croutons were nice and crunchy, not soggy at all. The pizza had amazing crisp crust. I never felt like there wasn’t enough cheese. The pepperonis were yummy! The slice was big! Everything was great - the customer service, the sweet tea (actually tasted like tea, not straight sugar).Very happy with my food and experience.I will definitely gravitate towards here when I am in the area.

2021-11-20UPDATE: Tried Gourmet BBQ Chicken. My staff had pepperoni and sausage. Just as good or better than my first visit, 2 years ago!Came in for lunch. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Ordered BBQ CHICKEN and Bacon. Chicken was fired and griiled with smokey undertones. Dough was thin, crispy but kept its structure. I will be a repeat customer every time Im in the area. A MUST TRY if you havent yet.

2022-03-31Great price, delicious food, and one insanely busy waitress with genuinely the best attitude I have ever seen. However much they are paying her is not enough.....

2021-12-08Use to be great pre-Covid. Large potions, great customer service, plenty of seating etc etc. Here recently the portion sizes have reduced, specifically the grilled chicken salads. They use to be huge! Also, you never know what they are going to be serving because they never have enough staff. They’re usually short a chef, server, or both. Limited dining room seating and reduced menu items seems to be the norm these days. Shame. Hopefully they get back to the greatness they once were.

2021-10-03We just relocated to Johns Creek from Chicago and one of the most exciting things with leaving Chicago was the prospect of actually have great pizza as were not a fan of deep dish Chicago pizza at all, especially with both of our families being from New York.Verra Zanno looked like a winner from all the favorable reviews so we tried them first for pick-up. The pizza looked promising but that was it, unfortunately. The dough was too thin and not cooked enough underneath and neither the bottom or crust was very crispy. Very soft and doughy and as a result, drooped far too much than youd expect from either NY pizza or New York-style pizza so the hunt for a new go-to pizza place(s) continues. On a positive note, the garlic knots were outstanding but when the knots are better than the pizza, you know its time to move on. Im sure well try them again but not anytime soon.
