Im sure this place has seen better days. We were so excited to eat here until we did...🤮. The customer service was excellent, but 1 dish out of 3 was edible, and the drinks were even bad. I felt sorry for the waitress. The veal schnitzel with mushroom sauce was very good ❣️
Nice atmosphere server was friendly. Wait time for food was extremely long for the amount of business appetizers and salads where good. My entrée was cooked well all the side dishes where almost frozen they where so cold and undercooked. Server brought additional side that where not any better still raw. Complained and only compensation was free drinks. Not high on my list for a return visit
I would give this place no stars but I have to give it at least one to leave a review. We went in for dinner for mothers day and we sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes before even being acknowledged and I say acknowledged lightly. The woman who seemed to be the manager was trying to manage the restraunt and run the floor and greet and seat people. She was failing at customer service. We sat there along with another family for roughly 20 minutes before this woman even acknowledged that there were any people waiting to be seated. The other family was there first and she got the number of people in their group and disappeared for 5 minutes and when she came back she acted like she hadnt already spoken to them and asked for the number in their party again and went to the back and came back to finally seat them. She did not even acknowledge our party and went back towards the dinning area again. She eventually came back asked for the number in our party and disappeared again. When she came back more people had come in and she acknowledged them immediately. They had reservations for 5 and than group came in with a large party reservation and we were all but forgotten about. They did not even have the tables for their reservations ready yet. When the third group with reservations walked in, I walked out. I understand that reservations come first, but they were not even prepared for their guests with reservations, we had been sitting there for nearly 40 minutes without even being really being acknowledged or given an estimated wait time or anything. There was a younger girl running around the waiting area the entire time who didnt even acknowledge any of the waiting guests with a hello or someone will be with you shortly. I have never seen a restraunt that is so disorganized as this one. No hostess, no customer service skills, no organization to any aspect of running a business. Maybe this was an off day because if not I dont see how this place stays in business. My husband brought me here for mothers day dinner with him and our kids and after sitting there for over 40 minutes and being ignored we walked out. I will never go back to this place again.
I have to say this is one of my favorites in Augusta. This visit was not the same, however my waitress did a good job. I notice the building has issues and mold. Vents duct taped to ceiling. Not sure how you pass inspection that way. The food was not as good as it has been in the past. I sure hope the owners will not let this place become an old landmark.
Arrived on time (slightly early) for our reservation. Was left standing over 10 mins in front without even a greeting or seeing anyone. A lady was waiting there before us for a to go order and had not seen anyone either. After waiting a while, she called the restaurant to tell them she has been waiting for her to go order. Eventually someone came to greet and seat us. Our waitress was nice was service was very poor. We were left without silverware for a good while when our German salads were served. She was scattered brained, forgot everything, and was waiting on drinks the majority of our meal. The meal was subpar at best. The reservation was for a birthday of my partner who grew up in Heidelberg. The asthenic of the restaurant is very European, so we were very excited. The food wasnt anywhere near authentic German. The Cordon Bleu was overcooked, dry and tough. The spatzle was the only decent thing out of 4 entrees. The waitresses kept complaining out loud about how much work they were doing. We had high hopes for a taste of home, but was let down terribly.
This has been a regular staple in Augusta, GA for several years. When we went, it was before quarantine. The meal we had was overall very good but the costs are much higher than other similar restaurants. They do have some interesting items such as escargot on the menu, but the portions for their meals like lasagna is very small for the price. We also got burned toast, but they replaced it with a non burnt piece. After the quarantine is over, well probably come back.
Great! It was like I was in Germany again. I got Yagerschnitzel with fries, German Salad, bread and Riesling Wine. Everything tasted great. Service was wonderful. My husband got Bratwurst, warm potato salad, and German beer. He also enjoyed everything. We are already planning out next dine out to this restaurant. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting authentic German cuisine.
Definitely a place to go and get dinner. I only tried the German side of the menu being that was the one that was easier to get gluten free. Please note that not every dessert maybe available but they do have a dessert tray so you can see what is available. This was definitely a dinning experience instead of just eating. I would go back.
Great resturaunt. The food is amazing. Service is quick. I left fully satisfied AND full. I had the marinated herring as a starter. It comes like a salad and is very flavorful. I also had the Bavarian Platter which is three types of meat, saukeraut, and potatoes. All of it was good. The potatoes have a slight crunch on the outside which gives them a wonderful texture. I also chose the German salad which comes with beats, green beans, and cucumbers all seasoned perfectly. The bread served here is so moist. Definitely a place Id want to visit again. The only con was how loud the chef was while preparing meals. I could hear his conversations throughout my entire meal.
We were served 45 minutes after another family came in 20 mins behind us, we were given the bill without being asked about dessert. The service was terrible, the waitress at another table was griping about how much work she had to do. It was an uncomfortable experience. Although the food was ok, we wont be going back.
Atmosphere is nostalgic. Sauerbraten was tender and tasty, but a little heavy on vinegar. Potato dumplings are always perfection! Jagerschnitzel was tender but lacked seasoning of any kind. German cucumber salad was yummy! Spaetzle is egg noodles... I wish they were homemade, so I stick with the dumplings...Addition - Thank you for the response. Please educate your wait staff. We were there at 5:30, just after restaurant opened; our waitress informed us that you no longer serve homemade spaetzle because you would run out too quickly.
Villa Europa is a little slice of Germany in Georgia! The decor definitely gives you the authentic appearance of a German restaurant. Its a cozy little spot with a warm, inviting ambience. The food is outstanding. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel with German Potato Salad, and was very happy with it. I ate at the bar and the bartender, Robert, gave me good service. Management and staff are good, friendly folks who appreciate your business and make you feel welcome. I highly recommend Villa Europa.
First time here. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! Thank you, Robert. He made us feel at home and was full of fun and conversation. Others at the table had prime rib and the filet. Both cooked perfectly, quality was wonderful and tasted great ! 5 of us ate app’s, dinner with salads and adult beverages and bill was less than $200! Would love to go back again.
Date night gone horribly wrong. Looked forward to the chilled trout however it arrived frozen when it was served. Opted for bowl of creamed asparagus soup which was hot, but the night was unrecoverable. Think twice before going here. The kitchen staff sounded like they were having a good time... lots of laughter and personal banter coming from the kitchen.
Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We went there for a birthday dinner. Yes we had a large group (10) and I understand that it takes longer with large groups. The food would have been good if we would have gotten it when it was warm. The waitress seemed like she was on something. It took over an hour to get our drinks. She would only take a couple of orders at a time. Took 2 hours just to get our salads. I kept having to chase the waitress down to get more drinks and to order food. I spoke with the hostess very politely and explained the situation. She went to the waitress and offered help. The waitress got kind of snippy and said no she didnt need any help. We were in the restaurant for a total of 5 hours. I will definitely not be going back there and definitely do not recommend this restaurant if you have more than 2 people eating. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! And I believe the waitress name was Debbie.
Excellent food, excellent staff, authentic German feel. Staff also speaks German which was pretty awesome. The whole atmosphere is calm and the beer is very good. Just PCS back from Wiesbaden, Germany so we went here to try the food for differences and it was all spot on. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking to get their Getränk and Essen on :P.Prices on their menu reflects that of a typical restaurant if not a little higher than those around the area but well worth it.Pictures on the walls bring back memories of places we visited while overseas!
They did mention to begin with, that they only had one cook. But they should have given more warning. The fries and soup were cold by the time they got to the table. There was no rye bread for Ruben sandwiches. They were served on croissants and hoagie rolls and the meat cheese tasted old! We will not be going back.😞
Horrible would not recommend this place , we waited of course because we came as walk ins what I completely understood and that wasn’t the problem . What I didn’t like at all was we was seated all the way in the back in a separated room where the fire place is with no other people in it but to top it off never even got a chance to order anything not even drinks after waiting 20 mins we left . No proper organization at all and I’m from Germany never waited at no restaurant that long to get any thing not even drinks that’s crazy.
Ive been here a few times during my visits to Augusta,GA the food has always been excellent. However the last few times the service was subpar but this time they knocked it out of the park with better service than Ive had in a long time ANYWHERE! Our server went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. She was knowledgeable of the menu and provided us with 5 star service. She was not only helping us but anyone she came into contact with she made sure they were enjoying their time. She even boxed our food. Glad we chose Villa Europa tonight. Cameron was our server by the way.
This place is one of Augustas best kept secrets. The food is excellent, the staff is very friendly and they know and do their job well especially Adreonna who works the morning shift and Bridgette who just started and I think will be running the place one day and lets not forget about Ms. Peggy the manager/owner who is an absolute doll. They are so friendly and the food, oh my goodness, did I mention the food is excellent? Oh, yes, I did. You want to go to this place.
The service was excellent. Great wine suggestion. The Beef Wellington was very tender, and tasty. The lamb chops were wonderful. Only downside was a bit of char on all the items. While appreciated, it was just a bit heavy handed. The escargot was delicious, and the french onion soup is the bomb. Dessert was good.A very good evening.
The food was wonderful, but I chose this restaurant for my anniversary dinner because some of the reviews said the atmosphere was romantic... Im sure it could be, but the wait staff was very much more focused on cutting up(loudly) with the regulars who happened to be seated near us, while being short in their interactions with us. That took away from being able to enjoy the meal with my husband quite a bit. Fairly disappointing, especially since we didnt originally even want to be seated near the bar, but the hostess looked annoyed when we answered that wed prefer the dining room, so we conceded. If there is a next time we will most definitely insist on being seated elsewhere and hope for a better staff that day.
Always a great day when I get to go here. Food was delicious. Sorry I was too hungry to remember to take pics! Love the German salad and escargot! The table also got the cordon Bleu as well as the rahmschnitzel. All was gone by the end of the evening. And Lee our waiter was very attentive without being overbearing. Thanks Lee!!
Good atmosphere but pop music when I expected some rousing German tunes. Potato soup was only warm - very bland. My guest greatly enjoyed the lamb chop dinner. Plenty of fresh bread & butter...My meal was NOT good; Potato sale was very sour ( sour kraut flavor) and brats just didnt taste right. Management didnt charge me for my untouched meal. But I went home hungry. Waiter never did ask me why I wasnt eating.
The food was spectacularly prepared. The staff did everything they could to accommodate my wifes allergies to the best of their ability. The service was where they lost one star. It was great service but our waitress seemed distracted a couple of times instead of waiting tables.
Dined at Villa Europa this past Saturday to celebrate my wife’s birthday, six adults and three children. The food was as great as usual, five stars. However, our server “Lee” just flat knocked it out of the park. I am 70 years old and have been visiting Villa Europa for over 40 years. Not just here but including all the restaurants in my years have I had a server more customer oriented, kind and knowledgeable as Lee. An absolute professional in every way. If there was a 10 star rating Lee would certainly receive it. Great job.
I eat at Villa Europa on occasion and the food is always good. If you like German cuisine, I highly recommend them. Its family owned and operated, and I understand its been there for years. Today I had the pleasure of being served by Jesse. Shes a phenomenal server! Hope your experience is as good as mine have been and remember to tip well.
It was absolutely 💯the Best I must say! The food was amazing , the waitress was so patient and kind and so helpful. I had the Cajun shrimp!!! DELICIOUS!!! and the German Salad! Another winner. And my Entre was the fried pork chop!! Was the best ever ❤! I love this place heard about it from my Sissy, shes been going here for years. But me Cookie Williams! Recommend this establishment ! A 10star for sure, Thank you all for the hospitality your restaurant shows, and especially the food! B4 its over Im going to try EVERYTHING on the Menu!!🥰🤩❤
Such a favorite place for our family! We have enjoyed the dark place (as our oldest, now 44, would call it when he was little) for decades. With a German mother in law and an Italian father, it was always a favorite taste of home for both sides of our family. Nowadays, its still our go-to place for that special meal, when hubby needs his regular roladen fix or the grown children and families come to visit.
We had a welcome home party for my nephew that serves in the Marine Corps, stationed in Hawaii here last night. I haven’t been here in over 20 years and I’ve definitely been missing out! The food and service was amazing! We had a pretty big party and the waitress didn’t miss a beat (I can’t remember her name). We all ordered a little bit of everything and each of us tasting each other’s food. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it was superb! My husband had the prime rib and was happy with it. My step daughter had the French dip and it was excellent! My nephew had the rack of lamb and loved it. We ordered almost everything on the appetizer menu and everything was good but let me tell you about the pretzels! They were the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere here is wonderful... it felt like we were all gathered around our table at home. I can’t wait to come back!!
Food is amazing, atmosphere is good, servers are friendly, but service itself is very hit or miss. Twice weve gone lately. Once we were left sitting for a very long time before our orders for drinks and food were taken, the other time they were very busy and I got to hear very clearly one of the staff chewing out someone in the kitchen through the expedite window. Very unprofessional. And really disrupting to a date night dinner. All in all one of the best hidden gems in Augusta for good food, if youre willing to overlook the hiccups in service.
We have traveled extensively all over the world, especially Europe and all 50 USA states. We always try to find authentic German restaurants in every city we visit, usually coming away disappointed. Not so with Villa Europa. It is BY FAR the best German Restaurant in the USA, and we sometimes drive far out of our way, just to dine there.
I am not even going to review the food. I was traumatized when I was opening the door to the women’s bathroom while holding my 8 month old granddaughter. As I opened the door, there is a big drop to the bathroom floor. I fell into the bathroom while holding a BABY. I fell on my knees and the baby hit her head. She was screaming and no one even offered to help. Told the waitress and she said there is a sign.I did see the sign and was aware of the drop but I fell. This is a easy fix. We have been to this place since the 80s and this is such a hazard it should be addressed. My knees still hurt from this fall from months ago . I would think the owner would want to provide safety for their customers. This was a terrible experience. I usually do not give a review but I hope the owner addresses this so no one else falls. The waitress laughed and said ppl fall in there all the time.Well..... it has been TWO MONTHS since I left this review.... I see that all the other reviews had a response. I am shocked once again, I did not even get a response from the owner... I never leave reviews but my daughter and I thought this safety issue should be addressed. I should have gone to the ER but we were so upset we couldn’t even think. Also we don’t live in Augusta so I just wanted to go home. I’m 65 and fell on both knees and dropped the baby who hit her head on the bathroom stall. The baby was screaming and all the waitress did was laugh and said ppl fall in there all the time. I would think with ALL the other responses from management, I would get a response . They even left an email for other customers . I hope they address this issue....DONT WORRY I AM NOT TRYING TO SUE, but I did expect some kind of response from management ....this was such a horrifying experience , I don’t want any one else to get seriously hurt.
Havent been here in a long time and was not disappointed! My son had the schnitzel, my wife had spaghetti, and I had the Rhamschnitzel. I havent had the prime rib in a long time but its still known as the best prime rib in town. Eat and shop local! Friendly, casual, and intimate.
It may look like your average neighborhood restaurant, but Villa Europa is anything but!Every time we walk in we are immediately greeted by the friendly staff and the incredible aroma of food coming from the kitchen. We love coming to this locally owned restaurant because of the friendly atmosphere and great food. You cant go wrong ordering the Schnitzel but make sure you leave room for dessert they have Italian Coconut Cream Cake, German Chocolate , Black Forest , Prince Regent , New York Style Cheesecake. They serve a variety of different types of cuisine, German, European, Italian. This is a fantastic restaurant and great for the whole family. Every time we dine here the food is absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The restaurant is exceptional along with the professionalism of the servers. This restaurant features:Takeout, Highchairs Available, Wheelchair Accessible, Full Bar, Reservations, Outdoor Seating, Free Off-Street Parking, Serves Alcohol, Wine and Beer, Accepts credit cardsDont forget to drop by during Octoberfest and get some of that German beer!
The Menu was complete with German cuisine and every dish from appetizer to soup and entree was an adventure to our palates. Kudos to the chef for the asparagus and potato soups. They were truly from Omas kitchen!! The schnitzel platters were also a piece of German Himmel/heaven, (a small bit of sauerkraut would have been a nice side, but l will request it next time for myself.) However, the delicious mushroom gravy definitely made up for it!! The staff and service were beyond reproach. Felt like we were eating in our familys dining room! Cant wait to return soon for the Swinehauxen!! Alles war sehr wunderbar!! Villa Europa is a MUST DO!!! Who knew a piece of Deutschland existed right here in Augusta, Georgia? The owner took the time to guide us on a tour of the entire restaurant with the a detailed explanation of the history of the locale!!! An Extreme Experience on All Levels. Nothing but Love!!![I have no idea why my previous rating only showed one star and no comment. But it was DEFINITELY an error by the app.]
Cordon blue was overcooked and tough. Meat too thick. Vegetables initially cold, then redone but no seasoning and appeared as if microwaved. Couldnt eat the redone vegetables. No butter for bread.Seating too crowded for a large group especially during this pandemic. No signs posted to watch steps on incline or stepping down to bathroom.Food use to be good 30 years ago, but for the expensive price, not worth it. Quality of food not good.Staff not wearing masks at all or wearing them below nose inappropriately when serving food.Chairs filthy. Will not return to this restaurant.
Ive never been a great fan. Its nice for home cooked meals rather than a chain restaurant. The prime rib is really tasty but my experience this time was terrible. The waitress kept trying to get us to order sooner than we wanted. So we ordered before the rest of the party got there. When our food came out, my food wasnt even thought to be brought out until she came back the 3rd time to the table to take the rest of the orders. She was asked about bringing my food then getting some more coffee for another person to which she replied I can only do one thing at a time. I ordered water and got a glass of water. A glass of water with no refills the whole 2 hrs we were there. I wasnt there only one either. Upon getting the check, I was charged the wrong amount on my bill and had to have my card charged again for the correct amount. Overall Im a pretty understanding person and support servers very well. I wish there was a way I didnt have to leave a tip at all but I had to leave 18% due to our party size. Thats how bad it was. Last time I will EVER go there and Ill make sure everyone I know will know my terrible experience.
My husband got a to go order for our stay home valentines evening, and what a disaster. The pork Cordon bleu was RAW. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Im pregnant and cant eat any meat remotely raw . The salad was a joke. Dont call lettuce in a container with dressing salad. Literally nothing else in there. The lasagna serving size was pretty small for the price, plus the menu says it comes with toast and my husband didnt get any.Over all, we were grossly disappointed. I ended up pulling out leftovers. I normally give restaurants a second chance, but not this one. I wont be back.
The service (Renee) was great. My appetizer - Bavarian fritters - were wonderful. Caesar salad was superb. Stuffed potato was yummy. Carpetbagger steak was not do delicious. I just wont order it again. There was no flavor to it at all. It had a pocket of sauteed tiny shrimp and demi-glace of mushrooms which were good. And the portion was huge - took 2/3 home. I just didnt care for the steak. Red velvet cake for dessert was really tasty.
This is one of Augustas true hidden gems! Everything is always fantastic, from the atmosphere, the food, the service, everything!! We loove the escargot, all of the schnitzels ( Jager, rahm, gypsy, Swiss), the prime rib is unbelievable, and Italian is also very good ( although we dont get it often- it has never disappointed!). The desserts are beautiful and delicious ( and usually travel well if you filled up on everything else!) Anytime I have a guest from out of town I insist on taking them here or ordering to go- which they also rank 5 stars! A definite must if you are visiting Augusta- you will be in heaven!!
I told my co-worker to find a restaurant near walmart for dinner. That was the only criterion. He could not have chosen better. We were seated in the bar area and the waiter was top notch. Food was fast and very good. Bonus points for sharing namesake with a legendary car. Too bad this was all just before dining rooms started shutting down and everyone is hiding out at home, Ive been pining to return. I hope soon! Good luck, be safe weathering these uncertain times!
Food and service was absolutely amazing! It was our first time trying this place and the owner took the time to show us around and converse with us. We will definitely be back! And recommend to everyone. Plus they sell Orangina (a sparkling orange juice) from France.
Met for dinner with my friend work group. Haven’t been to Villa Europa in almost ten years so I am trying Beef Rouladen and my sister is sticking to American food with a New York Strip. The Rouladen was delicious but the German Potato Salad just OK. The red cabbage had great apple flavor. My sister New York Strip was cooked perfectly medium rare. Overall the good and service was great except the food didn’t all come out together. I recommend this restaurant especially if you like authentic German food.
Super friendly staff and cozy enviroment despite the aged decor. Restaurant on left and bar on right. The menu is a great selection of German, Italian, and American dishes. Been there 3 times and the food has been awesome every time. Also great selection of import beers! Last, a tip, be there early on weekends or you may have a long wait for a table, they are always busy.
Once inside the cozy little tavern, youll think youre in the Bavarian Alps. In response to another patrons review; it is the aged decor that makes the cozy environment. This vintage, well seasoned establishment has charm, class and is an entity of its own kind. There is not another restaurant around,(unless you are in the snow draped mountains), that looks like a Winterized Thomas Kinkaid painting. Drive by at night time and youll see what I am referring to. Better yet,....stop in for dinner. Youll be pleasantly surprised.⚔️💂🇬🇧💂⚔️
First, the hostess was very friendly and I was delighted because it is incredibly rare at most establishments these days to encounter a smiling and inviting host/hostess. Our waitress was good as well. I feel though, being new customers we would have liked her to go over the menu upon greeting us. Weve had German cuisine before and love it but they had items we hadnt had or seen before. We started with the sausage/sauerkraut fritters which were pretty good and they serve 2 types of bread which were also good. Unfortunately for us, from there our meals were not good at all. I had a beef dish which was very tough and unpleasant to chew on, as well as the potatoe dumplings which were just flavorless. My husband had the jagerschnitzel and German potatoes and he also was very disappointed. I had the potato soup which I had read a good review on and though flavorful was more like a potato and celery mush, it looked like 3rd stage baby food. Though the decor was incredibly outdated my review is based solely on the food. We so wanted to love it because we miss our local German restaurant from our home town and need a replacement but this was not it.
I have to say that this little jewel of a restaurant was one of the nicest dining experiences I have enjoyed in several years. Tony was the best waiter that I have encountered in a very long time. He made excellent food suggestions as well as advice on different german beer. The meal was simply amazing. The schnitzels we enjoyed were as good as the meal my family had recently in Munich. I am truly sorry that I was just passing through. Due to a late flight we entered the place within an hour of the closing time. They welcomed us with open arms and we never felt rushed. A really special place with fantastic food. I fell lucky to have dined here!
It still looks like it did 40 years ago. For the price I paid for the food, I expected better quality. The portions were much smaller than average and the overall presentation was visually lacking. The wiener schnitzel was grey and tough. The German salad looked good but tasted bland. The birthday cake was about the best thing we had that night. It was big, beautiful and tasty. Wish I could have said as much for the dinner.
Honestly cant say I know much about German cuisine but i absolutley enjoyed myself here. No other place Ive been to thus far has tingled my taste buds like their food. The service was amazing, really felt the southern hospitality here, whereas every other restaurant Ive been to so far felt surprisingly unwelcoming.
My husband and I tried Villa Europa for the first time. I decided to take him here for his birthday on yesterday October 30.The atmosphere was great laid back. The waitress was pleasant, friendly, courteous and kind. When I tell you the food was mouth watering. Everthing was so so good. From the appetizers, German Salad, Salsa Sauce, Loaded Baked Potato, Roasted Prime Ribs, Zigeuner Schnitzel (Gypsy Schnitzel)It was our first time here but most definitely want be our last.
The plate was definitely full of German flavors. She gave us a sample before ordering of Sauerbraten which she didnt recommend and wanted us to try before ordering. I enjoyed the sample but was glad I went with her recommendation. A friend in the group got chicken parm and he too was pleased and it looked very good.
Yum! 3.5 stars. This is a lovely, intimate restaurant offering authentic German, French and Italian fare. I despise potato salad. However, this restaurant surprised me with the most delicious Ive ever had after I was tempted by rave reviews. I ate escargot for the first time here as well, it was wonderful. Based on this experience with escargot, Im now an addict. The German salad is okay, the best part was the dressing. I ordered extra.Their French onion soup was good, theres plenty of baked cheese and onion, but its about average. I like my amazing home version better, perhaps Im spoiled.I really enjoyed every dish I sampled here, and look forward to returning for more. The place is dated and isnt fancy, but the service is very good and so is the food. Theres deck seating available. Theres a little area in the foyer where you can buy handmade European treats, they gladly took my request for a specific German candy.
Excellent European food. The serving sizes were plentiful. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and it was delicious. Great fresh bread with the meal. They brought out a mini dark bread and a mini white bread loaf of bread. Good selection of beer. The German salad was different and good. It had pickled beets, green beans, and cucumbers.
If you order the right thing the food is not terrible but definitely not worth the price you pay. The vegetables I had seemed to me like frozen vegetables out of a bag. If they are frozen vegetables, that is unacceptable for the price you pay. The service was not great at all. The server was very rude. When I inquired about purchasing a bottle of Orangina, she was very rude and basically ignored me and didnt give me an answer.
Looking for German food! This is the right place! Yes Sir! The right taste of German food, flavor and the environment as well! This restaurant is located in Augusta GA, at deans bridge rd. Family friendly! My family love to eat German food and this place prepared ummmmm delicious!!!! Food of the dogs! One of the things I like is their environment looks like you were in a German restaurant in Germany! Give them the try is you never been there!
We arrived at this location on a Thursday afternoon around 130 pm. This is a location that has some extreme wear and tear. I would say it isnt in the most desirable area of Augusta, GA. It is an establishment that one can tell has been part of the community for years and it has a following of locals. Of course these locals take pride in supporting one of their own establishments. One can tell from the news articles hanging on the wall the owner takes pride in what she does. However, a dining experience goes beyond food flavors and loyalty. The location is in need of an update and needs major repairs. During our visit, it was apparent that efforts are being made to remodel a dining area now called the Neuschwanstein room, however, the whole location needs be to remodel which I am sure requires a substantial amount of revenue. We kept our dining experience simple and ordered brats and kraut. The side which had a side of cucumber salad, vinegar marinated beets and bean salad was good and enjoyable. Very hot bread came to the table with butter that could be easily spread. The server spoke German and did his best to ensure our needs were met. For a party of 3 which included a child we spent with tax around $33.00.
Always love this wonderful hometown staple. The food is always impeccable, the service goes above and beyond, and the management is truly the greatest. There is no place Id rather eat, and it was the absolute perfect place to host not only my brothers wedding, but the reception as well. Complete perfection.
The restaurant itself is dark and could use some Robert Irvine assistance. The food is good. I had the Bavarian plate and I can say it was very yummy. The potato soup left much to be desired. My dinner companions got the following: chicken parm- he reported it was good, Jagersnitzle- report was that it was good better had been had in Germany, chicken finger plate- a 9 year old ordered chicken fingers and the waiter gave her the adult plate instead of the kids she said it was pretty good but inevitably she could not eat it all. We ordered the mixed appetizer and were slightly disappointed that there was 2 cheese sticks and 2 jalapeno poppers the rest was a basket of fried mushrooms.Service- they sat us in the back where we were the only people until another party arrived. That was fine, except that our waiter was awful. We had to ask another server for regular on drinks, I had almost gotten up to take the glasses up for regular myself and I am pretty patient having been a server myself years ago. The other parties waiter was awesome, ours not so much. The bus boy was great, very quick and quite friendly. I personally, would just never want that particular waiter again.Price- I would say for what it was I was borderline on the price. It seems like a big plate, but half of it is potatoes. My plate was good, the business is local, the service stunk (much like the decades old nasty carpet). I cant say it will be a regular spot, I think I will try other places, but if I have a hankering for good sausage with fried potatoes that I didnt cook I may dine here again. My advice to the establishment- get rid of the carpet, it will do wonders. Dust- many people are allergic to dust mites, monthly dusting of all the knickknacks would help make it a more pleasant place, have a manager inquire on how staff is doing-some of your team members need redirection.
Its an Augusta institution and we always enjoy it. The jagerschnitzel is amazing. I no longer eat meat, but my husband always gets it and I still look at it with loving eyes because of all those luscious mushrooms. It is pure, hardy German goodness. We often start off with their fried mushrooms, served with horseradish sauce and they are delightful. Their French onion soup is vegetarian and it is usually very good. They have some of the greatest french fries ever if you ask for them crispy, those of you who worship the fry as I do will get this. The meat eaters always enjoy their choices which are usually spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, other types of schnitzel.
It was our first time there and we thoroughly enjoyed everything! The seafood scalloped special was delicious as well as dessert. I had a coffee drink that was presented with a show by lightning the cup on fire to carmelize the sugar before pouring the rest of the ingredients. Very cozy warm feeling and great service. Looking forward to coming back!
We came in and there were people, not many, sitting in the front part of the restaurant. Rather than sitting us there we were escorted through the bar area past the bathrooms to a little room being heated by a space heater. No one else ever came back there They forgot the appetizers brought them after we had almost finished dinner. When we left I thought my head was going to explode. People were all sitting in the bar area and restaurant. We are all by ourselves in a tiny room with a space heater. My mom and dad would go every weekend and would always have Karen as their server. We always had a great timePass ridiculous. They were even rapping silverware in the room where we sat. I guess we were not worthy to join the others in the regular part of the restaurant. Never again. Good days are gone there.
Service was terrible. I was part of a large party so may have been better if I was not. They automatically charge gratuities on large parties so she knew she was getting a tip either way. Food was pretty good but prime rib was not $25 a plate good. The large pretzle was the best thing we had.
I dont give out 1 star reviews lightly, but they sure have earned it. Where to start...The food was sub-par and not representative of German or Italian cuisine. The pretzels that came with the Spätleze were tiny and the cheese was hot for some reason. The German potato salad was ice cold and the Bavarian cordon blue was over cooked and tough. My wifes chicken with a white wine and lemon butter sauce was greasy, over cooked and put together horribly. Shes certain everything in the dish was frozen. The staff could be seen drinking behind the bar and arguing amongst each other and the service was slower than any restaurant Ive ever been to, and I lived in Europe for three years. The only redemption was the bread and the portion sizes, which was made fresh and was very good, but its bread and the portions were generous, but not worth taking home. They did take my wifes dish off the bill, which was nice, but they really need to step their game up. This place is literally falling apart and could feature on an episode of kitchen nightmares. Either the patrons who gave this place such great reviews dont know food at all or we happened upon a very bad night. Either way, wont be returning again. They lacked much in the way of actual German affair, which is what we went for.
If you haven’t been here, it’s a must. Authentic German and Italian cuisine. Incredible service and atmosphere. The staff here really make you feel at home. Tony the bartender is rock star. Even walked us to our car and opened our doors for us. Wow. 3 thumbs up from us 👍👍👍Thanks for a brilliant night 🍻 Prost
Food & drink service were terribly slow in addition to infrequent checks from the wait staff on our comfort or refills. Our table ordered filet mignon, beef roulade, chicken, & salad. The beef sauce was extremely salted. All meals were agreed upon as less than satisfactory. My wife complained about the high sodium chloride but the waitress could have cared less and was annoyed but cordial. It was not a high traffic evening. Quality has dropped over the years.
Went here to track down some good schnitzel, and the best part about this place is that we found some. However almost everything else about our experience was not as good. The service wasnt wholly bad, but our server was strange and a bit intrusive. We also waited quite a while for our food on a day when the restaurant was not that busy. Overall the food was good, but probably not enough to bring me back.
Stopped by on a whim while I was traveling out of town a month ago. First visit, so I wasnt sure what to expect, where to go, or what to do. No one was at the front, I waited a while and then sat myself. I was a solo diner... maybe the staff assumed I was waiting on someone because, it took forever for someone to greet me and take my order. In fact, 2 parties who came in after me were helped before me. That was disappointing. However, the food was AMAZING. Next time Im in the area, Ill order to-go so Im not offended by being ignored.
Everything about this restaurant is a gem. The menu was extensive and very reasonable. The drink menu also changes with the seasons. We had the baked spaghetti with mozzarella and the eggplant parmesan and both were outstanding. The portions were ample and left no room for desert, unfortunately. The serring and ambiance were fabulous and truly European. The menu had something from every European country which encourages multiple revisits. The various sections make it good for families, meeting, and even romanti rondevous. Highly recommended for everyone. Well worth the drive. Although the outside could be cleaned up a little, you will be delighted when you go inside.
Specializing in German and Italian food, Villa Europa has been popular in Augusta for many years. It was crowded in Saturday evening and the wait staff and hostess were friendly and worked very hard. The Italian food is okay. A lot of people seem to visit for the German specialties. They were out of two of the German dishes bit there were plenty of others on the menu.
I lived in Germany for a total of 9 years (6 as a child and 3 as an adult). This place is definitely spot on! Reminded me perfectly of the restaurants I would go to in Germany. Now I have e found my favorite restaurant in Augusta! Might have to make it a monthly or bi-monthly meal option!
We have gone here for special days for years...this year it happens to be an anniversary. I have lived in Germany for 3 years as a military brat and this is the closest thing in the Augusta area that is close to the German cousine. I hope this place stays forever. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. The people are sweet even on the phone when you call in. The prices are perfect for the food quality.
This place is great. If you have to have lots of TVs and loud music, chic decor/atmosphere, dont waste your time. But if you want an experience on German cuisine, this is it. We are local but had never been; it was great, and well be back! Especially try the beef rouladen!
We are regular customers. The food is always good, but we were so disappointed in the service last nite. Renee will not be my waitress again..She never took the time to refill my drink that was empty 20 minutes. She never came to our table to see if we needed anything. Our dinner took a long time and when she Finaly brought it out it was wrong. We flagged her down to get me a come and when she brought it it was half water. Very disappointed!!!
Nice bar area, very comfortable and personal atmosphere. They have a nice deck to sit on when the weather is nice. They have a wide range of German import beers and they are well worth visiting just for that alone! But the menu on offer here is sure to please the palate of any and all.
I ordered 3 meals to go and drove home to Charleston. The owner took an order over the phone and had it ready at arranged pickup time. Old outdate place where servers knew patrons...everyone was upbeat, friendly and chatty. My food was cold by the time i drove it back to Charleston and it was still a great hit. I would definitely be back for a nice pattio dinner and German food and beer!
Great place to eat. The Best Prime Rib in Augusta ! Delicious salads with home made dressting. The best Thousand Island dressing Ive ever had anywhere !! The German dishes are my husbands favorite and you cant believe how good they are !!! Weve come here for years and will continue.
Ours was not just a dinner but an entire memorable experience. The environment in the dining room was comfy and cozy like a European dining lodge. The German food was every bit as good as that served along the Great Lakes of the rust belt in the Midwest. Schnitzel crisp and perfect beside a bed of spatzel and the sauer braten tender and tangy with 2 perfect dumplings next to it. The owners were on task as soon as we entered and fussed positively over us. The absolute star of this dining experience, for that’s what it was, was Tony, our waiter. If you dine at Villa Europa you must have Tony as your waiter. He is knowledgeable, friendly, warm, attentiveand does table waiting the good ole fashion way; recommending dishes, helping you select your appetizer, beer, wine, main entree with enthusiasm, zeal and personal sensitivity. He is classy as well as he poured our German Lager beers quite to the side to set up and perfect foam and then held them up off of the table and put them regally in our hands to toast my birthday. He brought our German sausage fritters and then had us put one each on our plates and ceremoniously poured the apple mustard sauce over our first ones. He was involved and excited for us as the tastes burst forward. He was just the perfect right amount of attentive as he left for a long period of time as my wife and I enjoyed our entrees and conversation. He later surprised us with a glass bowl of Black Forest cake with whipped cream, a cherry on top with a lighted candle and then a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday to You on German hand bells. Tony bartends on Tuesdays and waits tables on Thursdays and Fridays. Request him. You’ll cherish the experience. If I could give this long time Augusta jewel 6 stars, I would. Get there.
We drive from Byron ga. area all the way to Augusta just to eat at Villa Europa. This place is fantastic. I grew up in a German household and on my first visit I would have thought that Oma was doing the cooking. Food is authentic. The staff is very friendly and conversational. The facility is dated and could use some renovation but its possible that renovating it could take away some of the charm, so please keep it as is. We will continue to make the 143 mile drive door to door occasionally and will definitely stop whenever we are in town!
This is the third time Ive been here, and my wife has been here a few more times with work. The food is always delicious and even never had a problem with the staff. The décor is pretty common for a German family style restaurant, and I felt like I was back in Germany eating. There could stand to be a few updates, such as the ceiling tiles, but its not the worst place Ive been to (test me!).The wait staff. They are not fine dinig staff, if thats what your looking for, go to Atlanta. They are friendly and typical German people; if you feel they are too intrusive, either tell them nicely to give to some privacy or get over it. They just want to ensure you you have everything you need/want.For those that complained that they wait staff wanted to get your apps and main plates at the same time, thats pretty typical. And no, your apps wont come out with your main plates. That is such a rookie diner fear. Cracker Barrel might get that wrong, or Dennys, but not Villa Europa.I give it a 4 because the ceiling tiles looked like they might fall on us, otherwise they are a 5 out of 5
I normally really like this place, so I have no idea what happened today. Our server was really upset with us from the start. We had an extra chair at our table and we told her we didnt need it. The response was, Well we dont have anywhere to put it so itll just stay there.Uhh.. okay..We werent planning on ordering our meals until after we ordered our appetizer. We ordered the appetizer and she stood there and asked what our meals would be. I guess our server was planning on putting both orders in the kitchen at the same time? We asked Will the appetizer come at the same time as the meal if its put in at the same time? This REALLY offended her because she looked at us with disgust, scoffed, and said, Oh come ON, thats a rookie question! She stomped off, punched the appetizer in, and came back and said, Okay NOW are you ready to order? We left. No one wants to be spoken to that way.
Went to the Villa last night and me and my husband were not pleased, the prime rib we had, had no seasoning on the outside which all you could taste was a burnt crust and sauce had no flavor. The cook put a sauce all over the top which was bland,no flavor. A friend told us but I didnt want to believe it, but he was right.
Villa Europa has been in this location since I was a child back in the early 70s (back then it was named Roman Villa, and one of the few pizza places in Augusta at the time, too). My German relatives come here to eat. My mom was a lover of German dry white wine from the days of dad being stationed in Germany, and this was her place for it. She loved good German bread so much, that when the delicatessen that was next store (and now part of the Villa Europa), was hiring it was her first job when dad retired in Augusta (she also worked in a German delicatessen in Germany before dad moved here). The dining experience is best described as romance style. So a perfect outing for dates.I enjoy the bread loaves and a good helping of Saurbraten and spätzle or beef rouladen. They even have the apples and herring salad the Swede in me goes wild over. And dont get me started on the desserts (remember that delicatessen???).Hope it never goes out of business. Its a little treasure out of the way, but a long known local favorite, especially of military retirees and their families.

2022-05-20Dined in on a Friday night. Arrived about 5:30 pm and seated immediately. Debbie was our waitress and she was excellent. Fresh bread and butter were complimentary. Ordered the pretzels, pretty good. Enjoyed the schintzel, weinerschintzel and combo plate. The German potato salad and the home fries were good. I didnt care for the German salad(beets, cucumbers and green beans) but my husband loved it. Locally owned, nice beer and wine selection. Would eat here again

2021-12-31I enjoyed dinner with my family on a Thursday night. Hardly a soul in the place so no wait to be seated. Friendly, prompt service. Food was delicious. I ordered the French onion soup, also the beef rouladen and I added red cabbage. My entree came with a choice of soup or salad and bread. I ordered a mixed salad, it was fresh and sufficient. My beef rouladen was soooo good! It comes w spaetzle. My SO had the cordon bleu which he said was good as well. Idk who the bartender is here but my hats off to you! They make a longgggg Long Island 😄

2021-12-28We always enjoy our dining here. Love the atmosphere and reminds me of our time in Germany. I’ve never had anything that I didn’t enjoy and the cocktails are always great.

2021-10-30Feels like stepping back in time. I dont think anything has changed here since it opened. All the food was good and made to order. Nice wine and beer selection also.

2021-07-22The German potato soup was fantastic and highly recommend. The escargot was really good as well. Hard to find a place that doesnt make it chewy and they had the right flavor with it. The only reason why I dont give this 5 stars is because my entree was subpar. Sauerbraten with Spaetzle was decent but nothing to note. Nothing was bad and I liked the atmosphere. Waiting staff could use some training but honestly if Im back in town, Ill come again

2021-11-10Their shot list is pretty long, loved the Salted Caramel cocktail. Most food here is okay, I liked the chicken cordon blue. The location needs some major renovation or update.

2022-01-29An Augusta staple for over 40 years, the food never disappoints!! The atmosphere is a bit tired and could use some refreshing, however its warm and inviting. Reminds me of my German grandmothers home.Absolutely!!!! must get the cucumber salad. And most favorite dish on the menu is the Roladen.

2022-04-10Our family has made this restaurant a piece of them family, as an Augusta native, almost every time my family returns to my home town to visit my parents we visit this incredible place! The service is incredible, the food is always fantastic, and the eating experience is incomparable. They have incredible desserts to try (if you have room) after the complementary bread and main course. Great place to have a birthday meal with a twist on happy birthday!

2022-02-28Villa Europa is one of our favorite restaurants. Robert along with other staff members provide us with excellent service. We enjoy chatting with everyone. They have the best French Onion Soup I have ever had. The Cauliflower Soup is delicious as well although it isnt always on the menu.

2022-02-17Outstanding meal! Restaurant was packed and took a little while to get our food but the waiter was very attentive. Checking with us often and informing us of meal status. If we get to the area again. This place will definitely be on our list.
