Have been coming here for many years and it used to be repeatedly top notch, however in the last 6 months or so, it seems to have become very hit and miss in regard to food quality and sometimes the service as well. Cold food to the table with oil saturated fries. Talk about a bad combination. Was hoping it was an isolated thing, but have had this happen the last few times we visited. Will give some time before trying again.
First I want to start by saying!.. hands down!! The BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE Ive ever HAD!😁. THE SERVER I HAD WAS A MONTH IN OF WORKING THERE NAME MAKAYLA . I visited 1st time here with my son, best friend and her husband. All of our food was fresh, perfect and phenomenal!. The busser was named L.A and was speedy, fast and Soo humble and professional. Our server kept our refills going, a great Big Smile, great attitude and very professional!. I salute to this Establishment for their service. I had to make it known to another staff member how awesome! that this place was to us today!. If those two employees could be rewarded in any kind of way please do that. I dont leave reviews, but for today I had to make an exception!. Thank you All at the Entire place of buisness ,because without you there is no buisness !. I will definitely recommend to Eat here and tell all of my Collegues and friends of friends as well . I will definitely return again!. Thank you!.
Ordered the cheese sticks and dynamite shrimp appetizer. Cheese sticks were good and hot. Dynamite shrimp were delicious but more lettuce than shrimp. I was expecting more or bigger for the price but they were delicious. I ordered the steak quesadilla and it could have been seasoned a little more but it was a large portion, very cheesy and huge steak chunks in it! Daughter had the cheese burger and fries which she enjoyed. I had a Long Island ice tea and it was longgg. Would come back again!
I have been patronizing village delli since it opened. Burger was ok fries were a bit cold but not as cold as the owner manager. I have a special needs child and sometimes he can be fidgety and hyper. Well. The were no seats in the main dining area. So the male hostess sat us in the bar area and from that time on the manager owner was barking orders at my son. She was as rude as she could be even while taking his order. She did not refill our drinks once. She kept telling him to sit up straight. He did take his shoe off but he put it right back on. He had something in it. She interrupted my meal two or more times in addition to her constantly correcting him. I know there are two sides to every story but come on. A kid is not going to behave like an adult no matter how many times you bully him. Why put us in the bar area? I would have waited. Why did she have to be so mean. It meant absolutely nothing to her about the incalculable meals I had there three decades in counting. I said something to her assistant manager and she barked an order at me. Quite “I don’t know what good you thought it would do but I am the owner manager of this restaurant”. Yes indeed name your buck stops here as well as the thousands of dollars I spent at your restaurant over the years. The point I am making is she could have handled the situation. way differently. Also, The only the burger and milky way desert were acceptable. The rest was subpar including the service
The Village Deli is truly a favorite for the locals. The regular menu items are fantastic and Heather Chancey is always coming up with daily specials that make you want to come back again and again. Once they know your name, they treat you like theyve known you for life. This Greek Pizza is a regular menu item and the pesto spread is KILLAH!#VillageDeli #EatLocal #BurgerBashChampions
The food is really good. I got the grilled catfish dinner each time. I just do not like them charging you for extra salad dressing when the amount they give for a salad is very small. I have eaten at all the fine restaurants in Augusta like Bone Fish, Calvart’s, Chop House, etc... and they do not charge fir extra salad dressing.
I tried the Village Deli today, and I have to say the food and service was excellent. My server, Sophia, was very professional and she welcomed me like a customer, rather than an inconvenience.I got the Philly cheese deluxe and fries, and it was excellent. It came with the Philly steak, with onions mushrooms and Bell pepper. The only thing I wondered about was they gave me a pretty good size knife. The sandwich was already cut, so I didnt really need that.Sophia kept my tea full, and she was very attentive.I also got an order of fried mushrooms. They were very delicious.I will go back there in the near future.
Very casual with interesting wall decor. Wheelchair friendly. However - Special club sandwich had two meats; Ground beef patty was VERY dry (overcooked) & bacon raw. Just not good. The wings (12 count) were COLD & very tough/dry (not fresh cooked). VERY expensive meal; Cost over $40 (receipt pictured). Another ranch dipping sauce (about 2 tablespoons) cost 50¢ so no customer courtesy inclusions (See copy of receipt ).French onion soup was very good ---
2nd time we have been there and the food was cold had to send back and still felt like the food was old the turkey and cheese sandwich wash good my husband food was cold and chicken wings was not hot service thie 2nd visit compare to the 1st visit was terrible I have to say it will be a while before we go back maybe never Im so sorry we thought we had found a new place to go
This place definitely has a homely feel and the bartenders and owner have done a great job of building relationships with customers, new/old alike. The menu will give you plenty of options and specials rotate so that you can maintain a variety of selections if that is your preference. The bar area in the back tends to be a mixture of regulars and people trying it out. Every time I go it is an inviting atmosphere with great service.
They really had a cozy vibe. I never knew about its vast history in my city!!! Their menu was a great addition to it all!! Very cozy! Our server made sure to listen to all my special requests!!! Its definitely a hidden treasure in Daniel Village Shopping Center!!!They get 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me!!!
Loud...but delicious. The loud is normal and expected. No biggie. Dont go there for a quiet evening.Through the years everything Ive ever had there was great! Delicious food. Their salads try...so I do get them. BUT they have huge hunks of lettuce cores in there. Yucky. All in all...go try it. Im sure you will like it.
Ordered the Italian pizza and wings via grubhub. Ive had better pizza thats be sitting under a broken heat lamp for a month. The crust was thinner than 1 ply toilet paper and made it so the pizza couldnt even picked up. The homemade sauce tasted like the cheapest canned sauce you buy on clearance at the dollar tree. It had shredded yellow plastic cheese product and the hame resembled something you would get with a prison meal. The wings didnt have a drop of sauce despite ordering the buffalo. I took a few bites of the food and threw it straight into the trash, wouldnt even feed this garbage to my dog.
Hamburger was good but cook used bottled mushrooms, not good. I also ordered freshly made potato chips that were served burnt and over cooked. The waitress was nice and attentive. Had a magarita, No complaint about that either. So, would I go back? Sure. For a quick bite, why not. Its close to work and home. Food was served quickly, employees wore masked, and patrons seated in a way that helped maintained social distance. Plus, I believe in second chances. Next time. Ill just tell them how Id like my food prepared .
As always the service was solid but the burger and fries seemed to be much better than before. I only know because my wife kindly shared with me. I had the Asian Chicken Salad and it was AMAZING. Like seriously, it was good as heck!! Always excellent service. Their servers handle business and take care of their customers.
We ordered delivery last night. Our order was 100% accurate and packaged nicely. Our food was still hot when we got it and the fries were nice and crispy. I had a club sandwich and it was massive and filled an entire take out box. Everything was delicious! Thank you for a great meal.
After hearing so many great things about Village Deli, I finally tried them out. The waiter was very friendly, and the service was a lot quicker than I expected given the crowd. It was somewhat loud, but again there were a lot of people there.I ordered the Chicken tender dinner, my husband got the Taco salad. They were both delicious. The only downside was the portion sizes were smaller than I expected, given the price. But over all, I really enjoyed it and will be back
Ive been here years before as an augusta native but this time the food was not good. Chicken to dry to eat , salad old, my aughters kids meal was the same barely editable food dry and room temperature. Seasoning was okay,I think we just came at a bad time. Will give this place one more shot
Ordered from here /GrubHub tonight food is usually good but tonight was terrible !! Ordered a Reuben sandwich with lemon pepper fries. Brown mustard on the side, none on sandwiches please. What we got was hardly No meat, No Sauerkraut (witch is what makes it a Reuben)no mustard and fries that were cold and over cooked !! The bread was partially burned small piece of Swiss cheese just Awful !! Will not ever order from there again !!
The BEST steak quesadillas ever!! Tender meat, great portion, and not greasy makes it unbeatable. Their desserts do not disappoint. The peanut butter pie was multiple layers of chocolate, peanut butter cheesecake -like center, candy with whipped cream fluffiness.Sorry I do not have many photos. I will be ordering in the future 😉.
The service was very good and the food was delicious. Its so nice when youre tired and hungry to go to a place where the help is smiling and happy and seems to enjoy their work. Its even better when the meal that quickly arrives at your table is so good and just what you wanted. So glad I came here for dinner.
If I could leave 0 stars, I would! My experience at this restaurant was totally fine until the owner entered the room and changed the restaurant’s atmosphere. The owner Heather was very confrontational and unprofessional to say the least. As paying customers, I feel as though everyone should be treated with a certain level of respect. She made us feel unwanted and uncomfortable in the establishment and as the only black there I could tell we were not wanted. Safe to say, I will never return to this restaurant! Also she had her well under 15 year old children seated in the bar area. They were also not practicing any type of social distancing at all!
I went to this place last night for the first time. Absolutely Amazing!!!!!! The waiters that were there were great! Great energy very attentive to each table that was there and you could feel the warmth. The food was absolutely amazing as well. As long as Im here in Augusta this will be my go to from now on. To the owner of this great establishment keep doing what your doing and your employees are great!
I ordered through Waitr and the order that was delivered was not mine. I called the restaurant to figure out what to do since this was the first time this has ever happened to me. The manager was very rude! She told me I had to take it up with Waitr and there was nothing she could do. This would have been fine if her tone wasnt so ugly. Also, I feel like its the restaurants responsibility to make sure they are handing delivery drivers the correct order. For the sake of not creating a long post, Ill spare you all the details but I will never order from The Village Deli again! Thanks to Waitr for the refund and free delivery code though!
I just had to lower my rating--AGAIN! Now from a 2 to a 1... Wish there was a minus 10 stars. I thought, maybe if I speak to a manager...not. A 20 something girl wanted to argue with me that my burnt, dried out Ruben has been this way for years and suggested I just not order it again...how about I dont give Village Deli another opportunity to waste my time--especially since I am hungry. Use to be you had to wait unless you were the first one in the door...not so busy anymore. The owner may want to reevaluate the current management.I had to change my 5 stars to 2. The last 3 times Ive visited, the cat fish was over cooked, greasy, and muddy looking. Wait staff offered no alternative, and management didnt respond to my private message on fb. Really disappointed. This was my go to.
Having lunch at the Village Deli since I was a kid.. absolutely love this place.. Heather is awesome and her staff is great too! So many great choices for entrees.. literally hundreds of great options and daily specials.. if youre in Augusta and want a great spot.. give the Village Deli a shot!! Totally worth it.
Have to say I was disappointed. Havent been here in 16 years since moved away. Back in town for a bit and couldnt wait to go here as I frequented this place weekly back then. I ordered (to go) patty melt plate well done w/ fries, side of stir fry veggies and side of cole slaw. The staff was great, very nice and helpful btw. When I got home, the portion of my veggies was minute and my patty melt was still pink thru-out. I personally can not stomach raw meat and cant eat it if I see pink! For a meal to cost over $20, I shouldnt have to re cook it at home. I will go back as they have an extensive menu and much that I want to try again but still unhappy this time.
GREAT food today. Christa provided EXCELLENT service; (1) provided suggestions that made our meal better, and (2) refilled drinks before we had to ask. Wonderful smile (obvious in her voice and eyes), on top of everything (even though they were extremely busy). Would rate more stars if I could!
First time at this place and we loved it. Our server Katie was great, courteous and friendly. We ordered take outs but sat at the bar and chatted with other patrons while ee waited for our food. Burgers were so good. Kids asked for it the next day and of course we went back. Great place..dine in or take out
This place was OK. I met my cousin and his friend there but they had already ordered. The female my cousin was with ordered sweet potato fries with her meal. They came out like black straws and when she asked out server she said oh thats how they come out sometimes..... ummm WHAT yall serve this to people who are paying for it and thats the excuse she had but ok. So I decided NOT to order anything. Then she asked another server if she could just have new fries and they brought her out AWESOME looking orange sweet potato fries. Why anyone would of brought that to a customer is beyond me. Ethier theyre used to mediocrity or they just dont care. I didnt eat there and I never will. Bleh
I ordered the Villager sandwich. And it was AWESOME! I was given choices other than just fries to go along with my sandwich. The side that I tried was called Loaded Potato Salad. It was my first time having potato salad with sour cream and bacon in it. Very tasty. This was my first visit, and it certainly won’t be my last. I was truly satisfied!!💯😍💯😍
Ordered via Waitr! The food was delivered by the estimated time, which was great. The order was underwhelming to me. I hear so many good things about this place but Im not sure I had the same experience. The catfish was okay. Ill give them a try in-person next time to see if my experience will change.
The clam strips were heavenly! The coleslaw was cool and refreshing, and so enjoyable. We stopped by for a quick bite on the way home. The waitress was not very attentive when she found out that was all we wanted. But, we had dinner planned and didnt want to ruin it. Spilled a drink, and this waiter came by and picked it all up giving us fresh new drinks to go, very attentive. Gave him a great tip, hoped he wouldnt have to split it with the uncaring waitress. I am a big tipper, she made a big mistake. Thinking just because it was a small order she wasnt going to get anything. Dont judge a book by its cover!
This off the beaten path restuarant is a great place to get great food in a great atmosphere. The food is always hot and fresh. The staff is always very helpful. The prices are fair compared to the portion size. For those that love fish, the fish plate comes highly recommended.
Been coming here for years. 6-17-2017 was my first time back since moving back home a year ago. Food is awesome, wonderful atmosphere, excellent customer service which is rare in Augusta. Just an awesome hometown restaurant and bar. The menu offers something for just about everybody. From appetizers to pizza to hamburgers and dinner plates.
Met friends one evening 30 minutes before closing. The staff were friendly and we didnt feel rushed. I ordered the chicken cheese philly sandwich but requested no bread and that the filling instead be put on top of my fries. Two thumbs up! Also, the order of chili cheese fries (on homemade chips) that were going to be split between opposite ends of the table cake out on two plates. The two main eaters both got their fill without having to maneuver food an arms length or more.
Historic, local, and awesome food and atmosphere. Its bigger than it looks and doesnt take long to get seated. Known for their take on sandwiches and burgers but you can also grab something healthy or with a little more substance. If youre in a group with picky eaters, this will work for you. Very good prices and great attentive staff.
The Village Deli never disappoints. Their sandwiches are the best! Especially their Reuben and Chicken Philly. Their burgers are amazing, and their are lots of varieties to choose from. Salads, soups, hot dogs, pizza. You can pretty much get what you want. If you are in Augusta, go to the Village Deli. Nuff Said.
Here on a Monday night with husband and two children...restaurant no where near full. We were seated by the “host” waited for about 15 minutes and had to request for a server come take our order. Server comes to the table and when I asked if she was assigned to our table her reply was “I’m not but I can take your order”. Ummm what? We also had to request a kids activity page, which we’ve never had to do before and we’ve been here several times. I’m disappointed in the service we’ve received tonight and will probably never visit again.
Being a business owner myself, I believe in the good reports also. Not just complaints. My husband and I just had lunch here and it was AmAZing! Food was outstanding and the staff...they werent worried about just their own tables. They all helped eachother. Will definitely be back soon.
Visited this little gem today. I was not expecting much, so you can only imagine how surprised I was when the food came out to be pretty darn good. I got the pot belly burger -- a beef patty stuffed with cream cheese, thick glazed bacon, and apple slices on a toasted bun -- and I honestly have to say it was one of better burgers Ive had in Augusta. They have a good selection of craft beer as well!
I cant say enough good things about the Village Deli, food is always great, service is wonderful, cool casual atmosphere. I highly recommend eating here . Love the Lemon Pepper fries!and the Catfish sandwich is so good! I have never had a bad foodie experience here!!!!!
We began eating here in 1989. The food is consistent, flavorful, and bountiful. Like most restaurants in Augusta, they arent light on the salt. The servers share tips, or at least they once did. They work together to provide good service. The patty melt is good but even better if one adds jalapeños.
My 2 cents might not be much I just had to say that this restaurant isnt just a restaurant You keep coming, theyll treat you like family . Nobody goes away hungry or feeling like a stranger. Just good old fashioned people who treat others like theyd like to be treated
Food was decent, service was awful. I ordered one of their pizzas, and my fiancee ordered a hamburger. The hamburger came out twenty minutes before the pizza did. We kept asking the waitresses what was going on, but no one would give us a straight answer. Finally, when the pizza did come out, it was tough from being overcooked almost to the point of being burned. When I asked to speak to the manager on duty about it, she was rude and argumentative, and was too caught up with playing a game of semantics rather than focusing on the fact that we had had a bad experience. Needless to say, I will never be back.
Me and my home health aid just went today to eat there,, they know about this COVID-19 ( pandemic ) and they are not social distancing none of the guests as they come to eat... Me and my aid for up and moved to the next table than as soon as someone came in they sat the guests on both sides of us... I explained to them Im a high risk individual and all they said we are not practicing social distancing smh
The hostess was more attentive than the wait staff. It took us 10 minutes before being approached by the waitress and 30 minutes to get a hamburger and a Philly and they werent busy (Monday around 5:10 PM). Then the Special pepper jack Philly was full of peppers, but very little meat. Nasty. About 25 minutes into waiting for our food, I pulled out my credit card and held it up in my hand (hint, hint). Horrible service. Nasty food. Wont be back.
Ordered thru waitr app. Ordered catfish sandwich, turkey reuben, fried mushrooms and dessert. Catfish, ok, mushrooms, mostly batter. Turkey sandwich was not a reuben. No sauerkraut at all. Some kind of yellow cheese and coleslaw on toasted white bread. We expected much better from Village Deli.
I placed a order to go was unable to pick up the order tried to call back a few weeks later and placed a new order only to get a call saying that the food I ordered previously I would have to pay for even though I didnt pick it up but. They want cook the food for me bad customer service

2022-01-30We came on the recommendation of a supervisor. It was solidly good, the meat for the burgers was fresh and tasty. The consensus of the family is that the burger lacked seasoning, good quality base product but the execution was lacking from the expectations. Just a bit of salt and pepper could knock this out of the park. The sweet tea was awesome! The fries made a decent showing. We are intrigued by the soup and sandwich listing, so will be back to sample other offerings. Overall good food of great quality at a decent price. I would recommend passing on the glass of water here.

2022-03-21The deli was really busy today. Half our order was delayed because of a lost ticket, otherwise lovely lunch. Very sweet waitress. Ill tell ya nobody was just standing around talking! Everything as always was very good. The fried mushrooms were fantastic and hot hot hot. First time I tried the lemon pepper ranch wings. They were delicious. Beer battered fries are always so crunchy good. Hubby had the Thai chili wings and loved them. Little hot little sweet.

2021-10-25The service was exceptional! I mean the best I hzd in the area. There was a wait ti get in. The food tasted great. I have to add that the portions were very small, and in comparison with price.

2022-02-15The Village Deli is a Hidden Gem in Augusta. Located in a shopping center, it is hidden between two other restaurants. When you walk in you are welcomed with a smile. The wait staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is incredible! They have a variety of things on their menu and all of it is good! You get large portions at extremely economic prices! The decor is intriguing with some vintage items and also sports memorabilia. It is a very friendly, casual and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be making this a regular place to eat at.

2022-04-04John, Dre, Cori, & Nacho were really amazing . . . They really impressed me with the hospitality/service. Cory & Dre both recommended the catfish which was very good! Also, she was fast with service and so kind. John was really nice and patient.Cori also continued checking on me my entire time. Cori, came with nothing but personality. I highly recommend this place to others looking for a combination of great service plus food in the Augusta area.I’ve never experienced a restaurant like this, where the workers are are team members. No one points fingers, everyone chips in and get the job done. Me being a server, I’m very impressed with this place 20/10 recommend. Lastly, they had a gray atmosphere and wonderful music.

2022-06-05Ive been eating here since I was a kid. The service has been consistent since the doors opened. This menu is huge and theres literally something for everyone. A hidden gem in Augusta! Highly recommend the country fried steak sandwich with beer battered fries. I literally never get anything else because I love it so much and its not an item that most places have.

2021-12-22We have been eating here for years. Food used to be exceptional but has really gone downhill. This is my medium WELL burger. Sorry, but no. I think we are done.

2022-06-27They have an amazing staff. Some of the best service I have had in a very long time. The server Makayla was friendly and on point and LA needs a plaque on the wall!. The food was great and came out the kitchen quick. I would definitely come back here when I travel back to Augusta again.

2022-03-05The hamburgers are thick and juicy. Sweet potato fries ok, wouldnt get again. The bacon was hard, not crispy. The BLT sandwich needed more lettuce and tomato; bacon was hard. The waitress Leslie was very good. We couldnt wait to hurry up and eat and get out. Because it was freezing cold and music too loud. If it doesnt change, we wont go back. If the manager was there, didnt see he or she.

2022-06-06Over $10 sandwich with two slices of turkey. Ordered it toasted and it wasn’t. Fries are wringing out grease. Fingers covered in grease. Pitiful.
