Great park to visit with many different options for outdoors adventures. The lake is beautiful and easy to access. There are hiking trials that range from short to medium to long.I personally hiked the Bear Hair Gap Loop. This is a nice mid-level hike. Overall it is not bad at all. The trail is well maintained. Just make sure to stay on the green marked trail. There are several small river crossings, but it is pretty easy to walk across on stones without getting your feet wet.
Just now discovered this beautiful park after living in GA for over 25 years. We stayed in site 65 and it is very private, and quiet. There is a bit of a hike up the hill to the bathroom/shower, but they are extremely clean and look to be newly renovated or built - very nice! We will be back, but will look to reserve a site with a bit of a flatter walk to the bathrooms - like sites 50-59. Wolf Creek runs behind several of these sites, and the waterfall sounds sure are nice.
Very easy walk around the lake and down to the waterfall. We went to see the fall colors but were about 2 weeks too late. It was still very scenic and beautiful. The viewing area for the waterfall does kind of obstruct the waterfall from being fully viewed but we went down the hill below it and got some great pictures at the bottom of the falls. We packed a lunch and managed to find a picnic area that had tables and a grill. Will have to go back in the spring/summer so we can rent pedalboats.
This is by far my favorite place. In December 2020 we had a white Christmas and it was spectacular. We returned December 2021. Not quite a white or cold Christmas. It was actually warm, but our site was right on the creek. What a treat to go to bed with the Serene sound of the babbling waters of the creek, just outside your RV bedroom window. Serenity now = ahhhhhzzzzzzz😴
What a wonderful camping experience, though site #s are being changed due to revamping the campground. The sights, trails, put-put, and fishing was awesome! Clean bath houses, cute lil store and nice rangers on grounds. A true GA gem!Well be back!Dont forget to swing by Sunrise grocery for the best boiled peanuts!
Vogel is a great park to visit anytime of the year. Another fav and lots to see. Love the efficiencies and log cabins. Hiking trails are great. Small water streams throughout the park are beautiful. Campsites are awesome and nice, scenic drive up to the park.⛺️🚴♀️🛶🎣🌞
A Bucket list campground for us that delivered everything we could have hoped. The lake and campground sit at the base of Blood Mountain, and offer the perfect setting for camping. Our campsite ranks in our top 5 campsites we have ever had. The site we were on was in the loop designated for tents and smaller trailers, and I would definitely not try this with a larger unit, as there were some tight turns to navigate. We enjoyed many activities here including, the hike around the lake to the waterfall, two rounds of miniature golf, the playground, pedal boats, and even a concert at the lake pavilion while a storm rolled in over the mountains. This turned out to be the perfect first stop on a three campground vacation.
I grew up just down the mountain from Vogel. Some great memories here. Fun fact, my great grandpa helped build this park back in the 1930s.Great hiking, beautiful lakes, 3 waterfalls ( 1 is a very easy and short hike: Lake Trahlyta. ) The other 2 are up the mountain and kinda hard and sometimes long way to get to. But totally worth it! Bring lots of H2O.The cabins are quaint and surrounded by the woods and creek that runs throughout the park and into the woods. There’s a small beach with a beach house that’s nice but crowded on summer weekends.Big RVs can get into the park but I would suggest the back entrance vs that sharp turn and super narrow entrance off Gainesville Hwy. (129)Lots more I could say about Vogel, I will just highly recommend this beautiful park surrounded by the mountains.
This is a nice park not too far away from the city. Has a nice lake, waterfall and campsites too. The views are picturesque. The hike to the fall is a decent one for the family to enjoy. Its pretty easy hike, so if you are looking for a challenge then this may not entice you. Plenty of parking available onsite and the best part that there is patchy cell reception. So yes, maybe download the map offline and maybe bring some food for family.
This state park is beautiful. We camped here for 2 nights and loved it. Its absolutely in our top 3 list of favorite places to camp now. Park staff were friendly and amenities were kept clean. The trails are beautiful and there are plenty of things to do if hiking isnt your thing. The campsites are also quite spacious in size one of the best weve seen.
A great spend the day place or check out staying in the cabins and stay longer. The summer months adds boating & swimming. The hiking trail around the lake and down to waterfall, yes a beautiful very close accessible waterfall is very enjoyable. Then have lunch in an enormous pavilion.Wonderful day.
Visited this place twice. Once during the winter 2020 and summer 2021. Beautiful lake and there are campsites for people who can stay there overnight.Theres access to beach area which links to the lake.Been here three times. hiked through the Trahlyta trail around the lake to view the Trahlyta falls. Really beautiful.
Visited Vogel on a whim when visiting the area with my partner. We visited in March, which is definitely the off season for the park, but still beautiful. There was a visitors center with clean restrooms and information upon entry. The restrooms were clean and easily accessible. Opposite the center were spots for campers and cabins were available in the park. The lake, while closed while we visited, was crystal clear with a big swimming area, beach, and pavilion. Nestled among mountains, its absolutely beautiful. More restrooms were near the lake, but were closed for the season. There were showers near the beach to rinse off after a dip in the lake. Paddle boats were available on the shore. On the other side of the lake was a dam, which then created a waterfall on the other side. A quick hike down the trail led to a viewing deck of the falls. This hike down to the deck was quite steep and not mobility accessible, but was a short hike.Absolutely a must-see for anyone in the area looking for a beautiful lake to visit with a scenic waterfall.
We love Vogel State Park so much. My kids and I have come and stayed in the cabins a couple times and both times they were wonderful. Vogel is my favorite state park cause it has a lot to do-hiking, swimming, camping, cabins, paddle boats, putt putt, playgrounds, picnicking…I do wish the putt putt course was a little more entertaining and that they opened the CCC museum more often though.
Beautiful park with a walking distance to a small water falls near the front entrance of the Park. This park have cottages, rvs and tent sites for rent. Highly recommended to book in advance. WARNING: Karen works here at this park. Wish i got her pic😂She drives a Park’s white truck. She could be a little nicer…HINT HINT…
An absolutely stunning Park that I feel is less popular than other nature preserves. $5 parking, plenty of grill and tables, and a cute Beach with rental paddle boats. The trail to the falls is very easy and so serene. The observing deck at the bottom of the falls is somewhat small, but its great location for some photos or just to have a peaceful moment. Other side of the park has some cottages and camping spots, for those who want to have an even more in depth experience. I would highly recommend a trip to this somewhat hidden gem. The drive to it is pretty fun too, with lots of windy roads and spectacular views.
This state park is one of the most beautiful places that I visited in Georgia. The small waterfall adds value to a trip to this spot. My wife and I went there to sight the fall colors in the first week of November which was a bit earlier for the mountain to turn fully colorful. However, we were not disappointed as we could take great photos on the spot.
Lots of trails to hike.Theres a large lake & a good flowing creek. You can bring or rent a small boat or kayak. Also, you can rent a small cabin i believe. There is a section is that is like a beach areapavilion. Many bathrooms. There is a beautiful waterfall not too far from the park.Relatively easy to hike this trail that leads to the waterfall. You are literally several feet away from it
Great place with a nice trail around the lake. Second time visiting Helen so we stopped by here again for a nice hike. Weather was perfect and lake was like glass. Made for a perfect picture. Stop on by and check out the waterfall and lake and other camping options they have.
Beautiful state park. We enjoyed Father’s Day weekend here. My kids had a blast participating in the ranger camp program. Jackson the naturalist did a great job engaging the kids. The trails were nice and maintained. I do wish the bear hair gap trail was slightly better marked and a different color then the coosa trail. We extended our hike for about an hour going the wrong direction. The bathrooms were clean even on a busy summer holiday weekend. We look forward to coming back next year if not before then.
Vogel State Park is a beautiful place located in the north Georgia mountains. It offers a host of activities including pedal boats, mini golf, hiking, biking and more. Most activities do have a nominal fee but are very affordable. And if youre trying to lean toward a fully free experience, with just the $5 parking fee you can enjoy all the sights, sounds, and beauty of the park that comes with hiking or swimming. An excellent location for day trips, or if you want to extend your time in the park, they have options for camping or even cabin rentals. If peace, quiet, pristine and largely untouched nature are what youre looking for, Vogel State Park is a perfect destination.
We drove in to get a quick peek at the lake in our way somewhere else & its beautiful. Plenty of parking & a flat serene lake. Its off season so it was very quiet & peaceful. We watched an adorable dog jump in the water after a stick a few times & left. It would be a nice place to spend a day during warmer weather Im sure.
My Daddy gets a cabin here every year the last weekend of October.. Been doing this 23 yrs now.. We absolutely love Vogel so Beautiful, relaxing, peaceful, fun, etc..They have all the Halloween festivities, vendors, Hayrides, Trunk of Treat, music and so much more 💕😍... The people here are so nice and caring.. Absolutely Love 💕 it..
Voguel State Park is gem in the middle of nature. Located at the base of Blood Mountain, which is the highest peak of the GA Appalachian trial. This beautiful and lush park. Has almost everything a nature lover will look for. Hiking trails. Camping. Whether is on a tent, cabin, or RV. Lake for swimming, boat, and board paddle. Canoeing, and catch and release fishing. Beautiful and refreshing water falls. Mini golf. Plenty of peaceful spots, foy you to just relax and unwind. And of course... Numerous opportunities for the perfect picture. Voguel State Park. Is a great place to visit.
Just a short hike through some beautiful woodlands to get to this wonderful waterfall. The paths are well maintained and park staff were all exceptionally helpful. Highly recommended if you are looking far a waterfall and dont want to hike 5 miles. There is a short stairway if you want tp see the waterfall straight on but no more than 25 steps and they are broken up by a landing if stairs are not your thing.
Its Vogel, what else can be said? Well, here goes:The good: BEAUTIFUL location, especially in Autumn. I simply could not stop taking photos. Plenty of hiking destinations and waterfalls in the area. We saw 4 falls in one day. The staff is very good and eager to make sure you have a good time. The camp store is perhaps the best Ive seen. The bath houses are clean and well kept. The camp hosts are busy keeping things nice in the background. Blairsville is the closest town (11 miles) and has good dining options, shopping, and even a movie theatre ($5 matinee, $6 full price). The bad(ish):Sites could be more level. I had my trailer tongue almost on the ground and my rear stabilizers at full height and my trailer is only a 23. The terrain would easily allow it. The gravel sites are a bit messy for tracking in, but it probably fits the environment better than paving. The lake is annually stocked with trout, but by autumn, its pretty well fished out. I caught one bluegill. The campground roads are narrow but many are one-way. At the end of our road there was a loop that was only navigable in a big rig in one direction, but unmarked. I had to help two big fifth-wheels get themselves out of the loop to avoid hitting tree trunks with the sides of their units. A simple direction sign would fix it, and its embarrassing for the driver.Summary:Overall, I would definitely go back to Vogel as there was plenty more to see when we left. If you are going, study up on managing your brakes on steep, winding, downhill runs, and dont try to get in a hurry on those very twisting roads. 2nd gear and reasonable speed is the key, and everyone I encountered was very patient and kind. FYI: my Garmin GPS had some very weird and, frankly, dangerous directions. Google navigation was MUCH better.
After a long ride the first thing I needed to do was use the facilities at the visitor center. What a nice surprise! They looked and smelled like they had just been cleaned! My first impression of the park so far is awesome. Hoping the rest of my stay here is as excellent!!
Its a great park in the mountains and a scenic drive up from Atlanta. We made a day trip on July 4th to hike the trails leading up out of the park, back towards Blood Mountain. It was a beautiful day in the woods and while the hiking was strenuous we had a good time. We always say were going to come back up in the fall and stay in the cabins and definitely will sometime. When we left around 4:30, the park was mobbed with people. Fortunately, we spent most of our time on the trails were we ran into the occasional hiker or two.
Beautiful park but the road leading up there is very curvy so I felt sick after a few minutes in the car, even though we were driving slowly. Parking is $5. We went on the Bear Hair Gap Trail and it was an excellent hike, but quite challenging sometimes. Multiple times we had to cross shallow creeks so proper hiking shoes are a must and I also recommend trekking poles. Someone recommended going counter clockwise but I must say that’s a terrible idea. The steps sometimes can be huge from the rocks so it would’ve been so much easier going up through that part than coming down. Definitely recommend going clockwise for a slightly easier hiking experience. We’ll definitely be back.
Vogel State Park is gorgeous in the fall. We had a great time hiking Bear Hair Gap Trail, walking the Lake Trail, as well as the Trahlyta Falls Spur Trail. You can easily do all three in a single day and it provides some really pretty vantage points and views. Coming early was key as parking is limited and the park was pretty full by noon. Plus it feels nice and secluded if you come at opening - better for getting clean landscape shots. I highly recommend it!
Very nice park. $5 parking fee or $3.75 for military. We rented an aqua cycle for $18 / 30 minutes. You can rent paddle boats and kayaks too. There is a good variety of hiking trails. Some less than 1 miles and others over 10 miles. They have a mini golf course and playgrounds too.
Got up early to get going and beat the North Georgia leaf watching Fall traffic…Just 90 min drive for us and 1-2 mile walk in Chattahoochee Forest / State Park and Lake Trahlyta to see colorful leaves, help get 10,000+ steps in, and enjoy the Trahlyta waterfalls and a nice lunch in Blairsville…Great place and a ton of parking. $5 Very easy walk around the lake to falls and back. Not steep at all. Tons of people w dogs too. Where warm clothing as it is a little cold and windy in the Fall…
Very beautiful park. The bear hair hiking trail could be a little better marked as there are multiple forks in the trail and no marking to say youre on the right path. My girlfriend and I hiked the 4 mile loop and made it back to the entrance right as a rain storm rolled in. Would love to come back and rent a boat and see the lake
We have some of our greatest family escapes here! The weather is always cooler here even in the summer! The staff keeps everything looking great and the cabins are perfect!! Fun place for a day but a perfect place for a memory making weekend. Grab boiled peanuts from Sunrise Grocery. Eat breakfast at The Sawmill. Visit the Farmers market in Blairsville if its the season for it!
Been here several times now, and it’s always awesome. You pay $5 to get in (go early in the morning), park in the shade if you get there early enough, bring a lunch, and take a hike around the lake, or hike up the mountain (it’s not an easy hike but my kids did it just fine). There’s a little “beach” with a small swimming area and places to sit on a swing or bench in the shade in the summer. The trails are well kept. Gift shop is always crowded, but we usually grab an ice cream for the kids after a hike. We haven’t camped here as I don’t know that they have an primitive options. There are some nice cabins available around the lake as well as many picnic areas. Overall it’s always a great place to visit!
First time visit here. Was not camping. We were out riding the motorcycle and stopped to check out the waterfall. Nice walk around the lake, bought a drink in the gift shop/convenience store and sit at a picnic table and relax for a few minutes. Restrooms we used were clean and well kept. Entrance fee off $5. Beautiful scenery and very nice waterfall.
Absolutely love this park. We come here every summer. The kids love to swim in the lake while I relax on the beach. There is a beautiful trail along the lake and also a waterfall. Watch out for bears early in the morning. There are lots of cabins to rent and a great general store on site. The playground is nice too. There are restrooms near the beach and lots of picnic tables.
A gorgeous state park at the top of a beautiful winding road. Spent the day here with my family and couldn’t have picked a better spot. Plenty of hiking and walking options for all abilities. Make sure to check out the nature loop near the cabins. Most people wore masks and the trails are wide enough to maintain social distance for the most part.
Camped at Vogel State Park for the first time last weekend and couldnt have been more pleased with our experience. Vogel is such a beautiful park and the campground is clean and well-kept. I noticed the staff working hard all day Saturday taking care of outdoor maintenance and upkeep. We arrived after hours and our site was easy to get into even in the dark. There are some great spots close to the water if you are lucky enough to reserve one. There are 2 dump stations as you leave the campground but beware everyone tends to leave at the same time so the line gets long. Either leave early or book an additional night for a checkout to avoid the delays. Youll be glad you did. Checking in can be a bit of a hassle if there is a long line at the camp store but I think Im just a little spoiled from enjoying contact-less check-in at Georgia State Parks in the last year. I was hoping this was something they would adopt permanently. The visitors center WiFi reaches out to the cabin area and playground but thats about as far as it goes. Cell signal is minimal depending on who you have. You can get a bar or sometimes two if you have Verizon and AT&T but T-Mobile is a no-go. The bathroom and shower facilities were very clean and some seemed fairly new. We will definitely be back!
My family has been coming to Vogel State Park annually for over 60 years, and I’ve been here once every year of my 26 years, now, bringing my own family. We LOVE the trails and the walk around the lake. We’ve camped in the campgrounds which we saw this year that they’ve added brand new showering and bathroom facilities to. Very nice and clean. They have paddle boats, kayaks, fishing, swimming, hiking, playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, a baseball field, a long creek, waterfall w/trail & dock, newly renovated cabins WITH WIFI, and plenty of benches and shelters throughout this massive park.During the summer, they host a slew of events including a huge one on the forth of July. Very popular. If you’re looking for a GORGEOUS place to reconnect with nature or just to enjoy some family fun, this is the place to do it! Would recommend over and over and over.
Great park! Lots of outdoor activities and breathtaking views! Streams and waterfalls everywhere--- very scenic. The campground is amazing. Lots of restrooms/showers, a playground, fishing, fire rings, hiking trails. Something for everyone! If you are visiting in an rv or a travel trailer / 5th wheel you should be aware of some very tight turns and campsites. We were at site #20 in a 36 ft toy hauler- it was pretty tough to get into the site but there was also a very large tree right in the middle of the site blocking the last 10 feet.Getting back out of the park while towing please be cautious of the block wall on the passenger side, has damaged many RVs. Swing wide and take up both lanes- all you can do.Seriously tho... we will be back- I could have stayed in this beautiful park for 2 wks! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Weve been coming here for years and this is still one of my favorite places to visit. The cabins have been remodeled in recent years and the campground is nice as well. Having a longer 5th wheel or a large Class A can make navigation of the camp sites a challenge but its worth the effort. From putt putt to hiking around the lake to hiking up to the Vogel overlook at the top of the Bear Hair Gap trail, this is an amazing place to visit.
Spectacular up in the clouds experience! We spent 5 days in site 45. Other than a short power outage because of heavy rains and freezing weather we had a SPECTACULAR time. Site was ample and well leveled in gravel. Bathrooms were clean and well appointed. Laundry room was amazing!!!! We and our sons family had a unforgettable time. We hope to be back soon!!!!
This was a nice stop on the way to Blood Mountain. The lake is very pretty and Trahlyta Falls is breathtakingly gorgeous. We made it to the falls in less than 20 from the parking lot. The walk back up the hill from the falls is a tad strenuous but nothing too difficult.
Campground review. We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. There are streams to explore, a short hike to a waterfall, a beach on the lake, putt putt, and lots of other things to enjoy. I highly recommend hiking to the far side of the lake to see the great view of the mountains. Our site was very large even for our 38 fifth wheel. We had lots of extra space. There was a picnic table and a fire ring. There are also bathrooms and showers, but we didnt use those. It was raining a lot when we got there and the back of our site was a little under water, but it wasnt a big deal.We have a 50 amp RV, but they only had two 30 amp outlets and two 20 amp. If you have a 50 to two 30s splitter youd be in good shape. No sewer, but they have two dump stations. It was very busy when we were there, but we never had to wait or saw anyone else waiting to use the dump station.FYI, theres NO cell reception in the campground. Around the lake we could get 1 or 2 bars, but at our site we got NOTHING. We have Verizon and AT&T.
Our very favorite State Park in GA. Drove up from FL and stayed here in a 37 foot Class A RV. Park is easy to access and there are plenty of sites for all types of camping up to 40.Visited in May 2020 and the weather was excellent, with a little rain. We enjoy that this park is in a valley, near a lake and has a creek (Wolf Creek) that runs along one side right near the sites and we had a site that backed right up to the creek.Facilities are very clean and well maintained.Washer and Dryer available throughout the park.Park also has cottages for rent.Lots of hiking trails, fishing, and good ol mother nature.
Very clean and kid friendly. The swimming area is really nice and they have plenty of activities for the whole family. Plenty of hiking trails and the waterfall is absolutely beautiful. The Cabins are really comfortable and clean. They have all the cooking necessities that you need. If you forgot something that’s no problem because they have a store right there in the park. Not big variety but they do have the basics. The staff is super friendly, have never had any problems when we visit.
One of the most beautiful State park near Atlanta! This park has everything. Trails, lake, mountains, waterfall and awestruck views! There are beautiful cabins for stay. It gets crowded during weekends which is absolutely justified!!! Go early to enjoy the nature and admire the beauty!
We bought parking pass in visitor center .We are two people so we paid $10. This place is calm , Photogenic, dog friendly..Not much hiking so good for kids..The parking space is good...When we visited this place was not crowded..We walked around the lake and we visited the falls present in this park..Its a pretty falls.. People stay here in campground....Its such a natural beauty..Peaceful place..No restaurants nearby...
Nice and well maintained park. They have parking fees of $5, and if you want to do boating seperate ticket needs to be bought from visitors center, i think per boat for half an hour $12 and 1 hour $20.It becomes very busy post lunch hours i.e 1:30 to 3 pm... So plan accordingly.Park is very ceneic and made up beach is clean. Overall a perfect destination for family weekend.
This is a great state park for hikers. Plenty of trails to cater to all experience levels. The lake itself is small, but its great for casual kayaking and fishing. Only $5.00 for parking and you get to spend the entire day. Great place for kids as the have a section of the lake cordoned off just for swimming. This place gets busy, so be prepared for crowds. Despite that, I wouldnt hesitate to return.
Very beautiful park. We went during the fall, so colorful. We had a small family picnic across the lake and trail was fantastic too. We will plan for camping here.We went for camping and again it was wonderful. Huge sites, water/electric on the site. Beautiful trails, beautiful water fall across the lake. Book your campsite in advance, minimum 2 nights during weekends, they are full all the time. Clean toilets and they have bathroom too. Look at the pics.
Absolutely disgusted with this campground!! I booked on April 4th 2021 for the weekend of April 2nd 2022 and 3 days before the trip I get an email saying my reservation has been cancelled!!!! They cancelled our Spring Break trip without notice and thought they did someone a favor by refunding our money!!! They said they sent an email a week ago asking me to let us know the park was doing some construction and we needed to let them know if we wanted to change our site. I did not get any email, so they just assumed we no longer wanted to go camping and cancelled our reservation. Why would you schedule construction that closes the park at the 1st signs of Spring and during Spring break when your park has been booked solid for 7 months???? Horrible way to treat your guests. Our kids are heartbroken. And we are completely amazed at how this was handled.
Absolutely loved this state park! It was super clean and quiet! The forest kinda feel from being nestled in a valley made it a perfect camping experience. The area for campers was super nice. Only complain is the roads are pretty narrow and makes it hard to maneuver campers around. Loved staying there for the weekend! Perfect camping ground, will definitely be back! 💚
It was a great all around experience. Friendly staff and clean facilities. The park was beautiful and well maintained, I was only able to find a small amount of trash in the whole area which I threw away! I felt safe there and thought it was a nice place to relax for the afternoon.
My son, brother and I hiked here today on the Bear Hair Gap Trail. I have passed by Vogel many times but have never gone into it. It has a great gift shop, clean bathrooms, mini golf, plenty of parking, cabins, etc., etc., etc.The 5 mile hike is a good moderate-hard hike. It’s worth the $5 parking pass by itself. I wish I had more time to stay here and go around.
I cant say enough about this park. Our camping trip to Vogel was amazing. Every aspect of this place is great. The staff, camp hosts and even the other campers were polite and friendly. Plenty to do without having to leave the boundaries of the park. Swimming, fishing, hiking, multiple playgrounds, store, ranger activities, paddle boards, paddle boats, kayaking and even a waterfall. Oh and we even had a bear and cub visit our site. Please follow the rangers advice about bear safety.
Great place for a family camping trip! Positioned in the shadow of Blood Mountain, this park has everything you want in an outdoor getaway. The campground has a few streams flowing through it that add delightful ambiance when falling asleep, and some beautiful water critters for those who look close enough. There’s a waterfall spillway at the far end of the lake, a swimming beach, and even putt putt if you prefer. If you’re camping, the sites are spacious and have water and electricity. The bath houses are kept clean and offer showers, toilets, and family restrooms as well.I haven’t ever stayed in the cabins, but they look cozy and comfortable.Other features are a couple of playgrounds, exercise equipment, corn hole, WiFi (near the playground), kayaks, paddle boats, and a CCC boys museum.
Vogel State Park is wonderful. My family has been camping at this campground for over 25 years. It is beautiful, clean, fun, and a great place to camp, hike, bike, fish, play, swim, and make memories! I highly recommend staying here and will be passing along our 4th of July camping tradition to the next generation.
An incredible location! Didnt get to spend a lot of time there, but clearly is well maintained and is a gorgeous environment, either for a short walk, fishing, or a longer adventure. Check it out if you are in the area! It is quite easy to get to, a few hills/curves, but nothing intense.
When here for the first time with my parents and dog in our 34 ft camping trailer. We stayed here for two nights and out of all the state parks I’ve stayed at this this is by far the most beautifulest camping state park ever. Even the pictures I took near by at some waterfall locations were pretty amazing, I’m a photographer where I live in Florida and there’s not many places to go to for beautiful scenery like there is here at Vogel state park. The pictures below have some pictures from Vogel State Park and the others are from local waterfall locations near Vogel State Park. Enjoy!!
Sweet park, will return.....we did return and camped. Nicest park I have stayed in yet. Kind if tricky backing into some spots but man is this park worth it. Beautiful tree canopy, streams every where and a very nice lake. Cabins look nice too. Cant wait until the next trip here!
We went to Vogel State Park on our vacation this year, we were there a week ago and enjoyed our visit. There is unknown waterfall located on the property, near there property pond. That was worth the short easy distance walk. Very Beautiful waterfall, you do have to walk a little bit down hill to see the full waterfall but have a good view of the top of the falls, from a small brige located around the pond on the the property. Just before the entrance to Vogel State Park on the right hand side of the highway, if you look good you can see the waterfall from the roadside and there is a roadside pullover overlook. I posted a couple of photos of the waterfall on this review. There are also picnic areas at the park, plus camping and cabins and fishing and walking trails at this park.I would definitely recommend going to Vogel State Park.
Vogel State State Park is a beautiful park with Lake Trahlyta within the park, with waterfalls at the end of the lake. There is a walking trail around the lake. There also multiple other trails with 12.9 Miles partial loop. The park is not far from Brasstown Bald. You can visit both on the same day. Parking fee is $5 per car unless you have Georgia State Parks yearly pass.Do not count on using your cell phone working in the park. Signal is weak, and unreliable.
Okay so its a campground, a lake, and a water treatment plant. Its really pretty and its inexpensive to drive around, but dont carve out 8 hours for this cuz youll be bored after 55 minutes. It gets a four out of five stars because the lake is gorgeous and they let you play in it. Also, there are few good hikes but only one long one.
A beautiful place to come for simple relaxation. This isnt the place you come to for high-energy activities (other than hiking, of course.) This is the place you come to get away from it all, to lower your blood pressure, and to enjoy the beauty of nature. That being said, there are paddle boats and mini golf, camping and swimming in the summer. There are many hiking trails, including one that connects to the Appalachian Trail. It is a great place for families to spend time together.
This park is absolutely beautiful. Vogel park sports a small lake with some small but beautiful falls at one end. There are cabins for rent and area to swim in the lake. If the woods are more your style there are also some beautiful hiking trails. Entry is cheap and it is a great budget date idea, wether you go just for a picnic or to spend the whole day and explore.
Awesome place! Friendly staff! Def a family environment! I took my daughter here for the weekend. We went Geocaching, walked trails, kayaking and rode around and saw some awesome views. I would recommend buying your firewood, snacks, ice and fire starter stuff outside of here, the store is overpriced. Didnt see any bears but there are signs posted EVERYWHERE about them!
We stayed a week here in the campgrounds. The campsites are clean and level, the bathrooms could definitely use a little pest control though. Every time I took a shower, I had eight legged spectators. 😆 I know wildlife are to be expected while camping, as Ive camped my entire life, but this was almost comical with the level of bugs in the bathroom (and the sheer amount of cellar spiders in my campsite itself was amusing, as you couldnt get away from them. On my table, on my tent, IN my tent, on my canopy, climbing directly on me - this trip made me incredibly grateful Im not afraid of spiders! LOL!) The park itself is quiet, providing an amazing view of the mountains and the stars at night. The falls at the opposite end of the lake are a MUST SEE. I give this place five stars, brave little spiders and all. 😆
Although chosen this year to give our grandson a chance to hike and view a beautiful area falls, it allowed us to show him a camping area that his dad spent time at as a youngster. It was nice to see that really great camping attractions have survived the test of time. Here he was able to turn a penny into a hiking stick medallion, just as his dad once did. The future can exist without discarding the past - both have value! We are State Park supporters. You can be, also.
This place is actually beautiful and has great facilities. The bummer is that it is always super crowded, and almost impossible to make any kind of actual reservation. The third party online platform makes it way too difficult and then I can’t actually make a reservation for the days I want as “their policy is that a user cannot reserve any less than two days” although Vogel says they have no such policy. What’s further is that I final made a reservation for this Friday (06.13.20 at campsite e) and then they gave me a completely random campsite next to the bathrooms and dumpsters (site p lol) with these ridiculous lights that were on all night. I want to love this place but I’m always SO frustrated by the time I leave, if I can make it there at all. They need more support, better reservation abilities, and for the love of all that is good turn the bathroom lights down a bit it’s like the intensity of a thousand glowing suns.
Vogel State Park is a peaceful little slice of Georgia that should not go unexplored! I like to camp in the walk-in sites (F & G thus far) for a little more privacy and a little higher view. Staff and campers alike are friendly, helpful, and respectful. It is such a restorative place with a multitude of hiking experiences ranging from beginner to difficult, and multiple waterfalls nearby! ❤ Book ahead as sites fill up ahead of time, and for those looking for something more like home, check out their cabin rentals!
Its been many, many years since our last visit, which should change. Its such a nice family park with lots of activities a little ways away from the crowds in Dahlonega and Helen. While we only spent the day, we enjoyed every minute. We hiked 7 mi in total up to the overlook and around the lake. I love trails that are near water, and there were several water crossings that were pretty easily navigated on the trail. Im glad we got an early start because the beach and picnic areas were all crowded by mid-day, but the weather was perfect so that probably had a lot to do with it.
Very nice state park overall. Went there for a winter camping trip. Have very nice views. They have all sorts of different types of campsites (water and electricity and those without, as well as RV and camper sites). Be prepared if you come during the winter. It can get very cold! Overall, great place to go to, especially during the summer.
We didnt stay personally, but rented our travel trailer to a customer who did and we delivered it. LOVELY PLACE, first we reported to their cute store (checkin desk) with friendly staff that guided us to the renters spot. Noticed paddle boats, play areas. Cabins and much more. Restrooms/showers were very clean and well kept. We stayed and enjoyed the area longer than we planned, because it was so relaxing and pretty. Definitely plan on reserving a spot during our next long weekend!!
Best place to spend quality time with family for someone staying in Atlanta. It is about 100 miles from Atlanta and is easily accessible. They have both day picnic or recreation area as well as campsites/cottages. Cottages are usually booked and hence need to plan atleast two months in advance to get a cottage. A small stream fills in to create a huge lake and water released from the lake flows down to form the beautiful falls.
We have been visiting Vogel for 10 years. Weve been here in Spring,Summer and Fall but never in Dec. Now, we are here for 4 nights, &well experience our first Cristmas here. The staff is SO courteous! We have an efficiency cabin and a working furnace. Heres 🤞 that we get snow on Christmas eve.

2022-04-12Beautiful park. Camped here for 6 nights. Nice staff. Bathhouse was clean. They have several INDIVIDUAL bathrooms with a private shower, toilet and sink. Its not community like a locker room. I absolutely love that!!! Number 68 was the best spot for us. It sits adjacent to the Bathhouse and our neighbors were not on top of us. The park has plenty of hiking paths, a man made beach and swimming area, paddle boating and a beautiful lake and waterfall. They have signs posted for black bears and copperhead snakes. We saw none, thank God! Beautiful and serene place. Would definitely return!

2022-06-05Absolutely stunning park that is clean, beautiful, and engaging. There are so many activities you can do! Hike, camp, paddle board, paddle boat and maybe fishing. We saw people fishing, but I’m unsure… there is a spectacular waterfall to checkout too. Everyone who works there is fabulous. We will definitely be back!

2022-05-15This is a beautiful and peaceful place. It is so large that even if its busy, (which it was the day we went) you can find a quiet spot by the lake and relax. We were able to walk the trail along the lake pretty much by ourselves and walk down to the falls. Definitely a lovely afternoon and $5 well spent 🌺

2022-02-27Beautiful area and park. Many cabins, paddle boat rental, (in season), mini golf, exercise area with machines. Kids playground. Some very nice trails, one will get you close to Blood Mountain. Waterfalls. Took one star off due to traffic noise from nearby highways. Ruins the tranquility. Just a me thing?

2022-05-21Vogel is a wonderful state park to visit in North Georgia. Theres mini golf, kayak rentals, fishing, swimming, and cabin rentals. Its only 5$ for parking and its a great getaway for the whole family. Ive been coming here since I was 8 years old. Make sure to hike to the other end of the lake for the best views and the waterfall.

2022-05-07For a state park this place is really nice and clean. We stayed in a cabin that had a Great Lake view and the price was very reasonable. Pavilions and facilities were clean, it’s definitely a place we will frequent in the future. Peaceful to the maximum!

2022-02-26My first time at the park but it will not be my last. Our family rented a beautiful cabin that was very well stocked with everything that you need. It was much more than we had expected and we cant wait to return in the spring.

2022-05-11Vogel State Park is a beautiful park up in Union County, about an hour and 45 minutes north of Atlanta.Theres a lake at the park, with cabins and non-motorized boats you can rent. Theres a little grocery shop too which is nice if you forget something. The main trails are pretty heavily trafficked, but if you walk a ways to the Byron H Reece trail, youll barely see anyone.Very pretty and definitely worth the drive up.

With biking and hiking trails a great get away vacation for a good price, amazing for satiating the mood mountains and lakes. I would recommend coming here during the winter to spring time for nice cold nights and slightly warm days!
