This is one of two Walmart locations in the Rome area. Nothing stood out in general about the West Rome location as its referred too. Typical layout but it does have a Health center. It shares its parking lot with Sams Club, so that could be a plus for those with a membership. Grocery side seems to be stocked as best as it can be in regards to current supply chain issues some retailers are having. Friendly staff for any I have encountered.UPDATE : Despite the known shortages hitting the food industry, this particular location has been hit harder than most grocery stores in the area. I was shocked at the empty shelves. You may want to check ahead of going so you dont waste time and gas.
West Rome Georgias Super Walmart on Shorter Ave. is my favorite of the two Rome has to offer. It is kept well stocked of the most popular products and its food market tends to have more variety. It is a busy store so be aware of what times are the most hectic which tend to be one pm until closing on most days .
Love my local Wal-Mart simply because its on my daily route to/work. But lately the shelves are bare. Not sure why but its super irritating. And I frequent their money services counter also and have been stopped in a few times recently only to find out theyre closed due to short staff. Inexcusable. If you dont have enough staff to open that counter, the customer service counter should at least be able to provide at least some of those services to customers.
Automotive department has the laziest employees. Worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. They will literally turn away work to just keep sitting around on their butts. Told me they can’t swap a trailer tire…, offer me to use their jack and do it myself… absolutely no reason other than laziness.
Well, I have not been a big fan of Walmart’s across the country. The self checkouts are making me a temporary employee and I am doing their work. So....my latest purchase with just a few items made since to go to the self checkout. I scanned the items then payed with cash. As I fed the machine my cash, things were going good until the last two dollars. The machine gave me a message that there was an error so I summoned the clerk over and she told me the machine was out of money. I told her I was not taking money but putting money in. She called her boss and he was incredible...he took my money and solved the issue with a smile. I was impressed. Thank you Walmart...keep up the good work.
Im going to share the following about the Auto Center:From the Manager, assistant manager, cashiers and the technicians, KUDOS!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!! Im very pleased with their commitment to us, customers. Even my kids and family members are so pleased with their service!!! Keep it up guys!!!
It’s always about the same. I guess they do the best they can with the help they have. I don’t understand why their prices keep going up. It’s totally self service including check out. If you can’t find something just keep looking because the folks working there don’t have any way to check for you.
Walmart employment lady are very rudeWhen I bought shaving razor in the wrong spot with a cheap price on the shelf label. I pay cashier then I checked receipt paper shaving razor item: $23.97 made me confused and I thought it’s $14.97. That item must in the wrong spot with a price on the shelf label from someone put it back in the wrong place. I went to costumer service and I want refund for I bought item in the wrong spot with a price on the shelf label. I grab my phone and I wrote it show to Walmart employment lady read it about I’m deaf and I can’t speak, I wanted she coming with me and we walked back to shaving and cream store for explaining to Walmart employment lady about that’s where I find it. I wrote explain on my phone show to her: I find shaving razor on the wrong spot with a cheap price on the shelf label I thought that price $14.97, this item $23.97 from top shelf label when someone put it back in the wrong place. I want refundWalmart employment lady wrote me she said “No, It’s $23.97. Not $14.97”, I relayed wrote to her I just find it in the wrong spot because I thought that price shelf label say $14.97 that’s where shaving razor stand on there when I find it. I want refund because $23.97 is too expensive I thought it was $14.97. I tried explain to her but she get upset and argue with me she keep told me “$23.97 is right. Not $14.97” I told her what I saying again but she won’t believe me and she wrote me she said: “false advertising price and I will get security” I was shocked and scared then I stopped talk to her and I leaving WalmartWhy Walmart employment are so rude? The last 5 times I have been to this store there hasnt been any carts available in store. The ones they do have outside roll terribly. And also they hide the small carts. Who does that? Store employees are always in the way when you try and shop. Can you tell management has problems? I could go on but you get the point. Quick stop is ok, if they even have what you need, but dont count on it. Im moving on to Kroger. At least they are pretty well stocked and have small carts available. Ill even put up with Brunhilda the disembodied checkout clerk. Bye Walmart!
I went to West side Walmart in Rome, Ga to buy some spring water. As people are panic buying items because of the threat of Covid 19, water has become scarce. There was only three 12 packs of Deer Park water in the entire store. All of them were located at the far end of the shelves. I managed to get one on my own by going under the second shelf and pushing it forward by sticking my fingers through the wires, , but the other two were on the top shelf.and I couldnt reach them. I saw Keeli, a Walmart associate, and asked her to help me. Keeli went above and beyond her duties, by utilizing the proper equipment, to get me the water. Keeli provided exceptional customer service. She honored my request joyfully, and also inquired if I needed assistance with anything else. She also thanked ME for shopping at Walmart!Keeli is an asset to West side Walmart in Rome, and I hope that the management there takes note of her dedication to her job, and recognizes her accordingly, promotes her, and encourages her to advance her career.I also hope that they appreciate having her as an employee!
Awful generally speaking anyway, but today I needed a gallon of paint. After a 45 minute wait which included three different people telling me theyd get someone to help, a 4th person finally came, only to tell me they didnt have the tint they needed to make the paint.I get it was early in the morning, but if a section isnt ready to open, close it off or at least have a sign so people dont waste their time.
Would much rather visit over other walmarts in my surrounding area.Usually anything we need is in stock, the store seems attended to. The shelves arent a mess and customers service is available when needed and are helpful.The pharmacy is nice too, I expected a 35min wait getting in line but they are good at what they do, I waited maye 10mins before being taking care of.I refer to this as our better walmart in town.
Prices still lower then their close competition.The store was keeping up with stocking the shelves while I was shopping the other day. Yea!!! Pretty much found everything I wanted in one store. Hey saves me $$$ on gas, now I can get those extra lottery tickets 😃🥰🥰🙃🤣🤣 Maybe Ill win something BIG!!!.🤩🤩🤩
Good and bad experiences, customer service is shotty at best. When you call youre lucky to get anyone to actually accept your call, one staff member said they will take the phone off the hook and hang up if it rings too much or too frequently. Must be a bummer to have to do your job.They claim to be short staffed, which is funny because I see tons of employees, Atleast 4 at the actual customer service every time im there. If you do need help and the only employees around are stocking, which most are, they act like its bother.The star I give is for the pharmacy because they are competent and nice.
Im not too fond of Walmart these days. Theyve installed barriers that sound an alarm when you dare go the wrong way through them. Not to mention the dystopian style lot cop monitoring systems theyve installed all throughout the parking lot. I understand loss prevention but I really dont want to feel like Im in North Korea every time I need groceries or motor oil. Ive made it a mission to get all my shopping done without Walmart. They dont need me and I sure as hell dont need or want them.
Store looked beat up....wow.Its really sad people are SO LAZY and dont wanna work, cause theres nothing on that side of town for people to grocery shop ..So customers buying alot and people not working to stock . At 745pm It looked bad ..But hopefully theyll get it back together
Stupid that you dont stay open 24/7 anymore. Youre not battling a virus, youre helping to spread it. Corporate Walmart is educationally punerious. You had people crowded into one doorway. Social distancing is not effective. Funny how we ignored the who and adopted the cdc, which had no experience whatsoever concerning the matter and are politically controlled. There was one foreign scientist in the Wuhan lab who transparently advised that the virus lives 28 days on plastic. Im not a scientist but I was forced to attend and pass a science class in summer school. Viruses connect with surface particles on a molecular level. The entire atmosphere of the earth is saturated with plastic waste particles at the same level in all areas, populated or not, therefore the virus lives airborne for 28 days and social distancing has no effect whatsoever, as do all covid viruses. The only thing that does have effect to prevent transmission of the virus are n95 coolflow masks which are still not approved for public use due to government hoarding. Social injustice isnt a racist thing, its a government against citizen thing. Now they worship vaccines. Blue lives murder.
Has a lot of things. You can shop for groceries to having oil changed, buy tires, plumbing ect. Every store Ive ever been in needs more cash registers open. It takes to long to check out when you want to shop for your self. Thats one problem Ive encountered at every store Ive ever been in....
I went to this Walmart location to sell old cell phones at a recycle kiosk. Although some of the phones had no value the process was very simple and easy and it gave me automatic cash. I really appreciated the convenience of having this kiosk and Walmart has many other services such as this. You can copy your keys, make name tags for your pets, count and exchange your change. This Walmart location in Rome Georgia is far bigger than the two that are closer to my home. The selection is greater and the shelves are never empty.
Went to buy a dress outfit this morning, first ties that are advertised were not available and I was told they dont sell anymore? Had everything but that in my buggy and ask to try on one girl told me yes I started for the door to make sure my items fit and another lady turned me down from doing so saying dressing rooms were not open yet? So after two negatives I left my buggy sitting and left! Disappointed but you guys lost a $100.00 or more this morning.
Clean, Organized, Great Customer Service. I went to the Self Serve Line 10/29/2019 around 7:00 pm in Rone, GA to pay for my purchases. I requested $20 in my transaction. When my transaction was complete, I waited for my receipt, but forgot the $20. I left the store without it. After 30 minutes, I realized that I forgot the $20. I rushed back to the store hoping to see the clerk on self serve watch was still there to help me retrieve my funds. He was there. And he had my funds ready to give me, immediately. I was so relieved for this was the only funds I had. I dont remember his name, but God does. May The Lord continue to Bless him and his family 10 fold for what his heart lead him to do - My family thanks you.
My fabric rang up for the wrong price by over $20. I immediately went to customer service where Courtney was awesome and help to refund my money. While she was helping me a young man named Raymond took my fabric and disappeared for 10 minutes. When he finally came back I asked if the barcode had been changed so I could purchase it. He said no. I asked him what I was supposed to do to purchase it. He started walking away while telling me I dont know. You figure it out. When I asked to speak to his supervisor she brushed me off. Most everyone was nice but that dude shouldnt be treating people that way. #walmartatwestrome
Very clean and tidy...even with all the Christmas rush?! Found the My Life Jeep, I had looked for everywhere!! The stock people were so helpful. I had just left the Hey 411 Walmart...a mess, didnt see many stockers...so many returns buggies you couldnt get by after you checked out. One checker...not Friendly At All!!! The Walmart on Shorter Ave did not have a single checker!!! I had to use self checkout!!! I have never used one and had I not needed the Jeep for my 5 year old granddaughter.... I would have walked out.... I have before at that very Store!!! I will never use a self checkout again....if a store cant have a real person to check me out.... I will go somewhere else.
They have so many employees standing around chatting with each other but none that know how to work the different departments or that can give you any help its amazing to me how rude their help can be at times and they still have a job Im glad that during my 20 plus years of nursing I never treated people the way that Walmart does
Customer service is terrible. I shop at Walmart about 3 times a week and lately it seems like they’ve stopped stocking the shelves. Every time I go in there the shelves are almost completely bare. I understand that there’s a pandemic going on but people still have to get their necessities. Seriously people, get with it.
Poor management. I use the money center very often, always one person working and 8-10 people in line. You can easily wait in line for 20+ minutes. Thats just the start, twice this week I have walked back to the parking lot to get my own cart because there wasnt any inside the store
I love using the Walmart grocery pickup. That is always my go to; however, I decided to go in this round. I was very disappointed in the store. You cant get through the aisles due to all of the random carts left around and almost everything was out of stock. Section upon section with huge emptiness as merchandise is being pulled by consumers and not bring replaced due to either lack of inventory or staffing. At least the staff is still for the most part friendly.
I drove 45 minutes to pick up a specific product. I called ahead to make sure it was available twice. When I got there the employee in the electronics department didnt have a clue what it was I was needing and it took three additional employees to figure out my situation. Perhaps more training for the employees maybe necessary for future customers.I am pleased to say I did walk out eventually with want I had came for and its working out quite well.Verizon is the only carrier currently that has a mobile hotspot that offers a unlimited data plan with no cap for $70 or $65, if you do auto pay. And the Rome store is the only place around to get this deal.
Still a circus inside the store. Typical Walmart with all the cliches you can imagine. BUT..... If you can, use the pick-up service!!!! Use their grocery app to buy, choose a time to pick up, and youre done. They load your car for you and you dont have to deal with all the ridiculousness of the inside. It used to take me over an hour, and now its no more than 15 minutes. My rating is based solely on the grocery pick-up service. Hopefully it will be around for a long time. BTW..... You can buy basically anything in the store on the app, so its not limited to only groceries. I think it brought my stress level down considerably.

So, I live in Rome, GA..I dont have much of an option to not shop at Walmart occasionally. Theres no getting around it. During this past Christmas before COVID, I picked up a few orders via the Grocery Pick Up & the vending machine thing inside. All of the ladies I encountered those visits were kind and helpful. HOWEVER my visit today was far from my past experiences. The cashier (Ive got her name but Im not posting in publicly. Ill deal with the manager on that one.) was EXTREMELY rude, hateful and cold. As we walked to the checkout payment terminal, she had no words, only a look of disdain on her face. I tried to speak, to be kind and ask her about her day. I know she heard me, but she didnt respond. Thats okay because I know I did what God would have me to do, to show kindness to all. I pray she finds the Jesus that Im blessed to know. At one point during checking out our items, she walked away without a word and had no comment when she finally returned. In addition to the poor customer service, or lack thereof, the purpose for driving all the way to the west Rome Walmart was to purchase items the app showed in stock. They were not. Whilst Im certain that the hateful lady at checkout could care less, we wont be patroning that store any longer, no matter what. Ill make what purchases I can online. And when Im unable to do so, my patronage will go to the east Rome Walmart. The employees on the westside need to take a page from Christa and the eastside Walmart employees who have always been kind, considerate and helpful.
They should just fire the people who answer the phones. Called 5 times yesterday to speak to the GM. First time I was put on hold for 25 minutes. The woman who picked the phone up asked “Man, who have you been on hold for?” I said the manager, she asked who, I said the manager. She goes, “Okay then. Bye.” And hung up. Third time I called she took my name, number and reason for calling down and said that the manager was in a meeting and that she’d have him call me whenever he got out of the meeting. That was at 2:30pm today. Still no call back. Had another lady do the exact same thing.
Holiday weekend. 1 check-out lane open. ,8 people in front of me, 6 behind me. Even lined up 5 deep in the self checkout. And they want me to order and pay for my things online and pick it up curbside. No thanks. I aint sitting in the parking lot waiting on them if I have to wait that long in the store, you might want to bring a change of clothes if youre wanting in the parking lot for them to bring it to you.
There is a shortage of help and there are hardly ever any electric carts or they are all dead. They have stopped carrying many items I used to buy and they have ruined the savings catcher (I guess it was costing them too much) and if I have to connect my bank card to participate it isnt worth it. I will be looking to other places to do my shopping. The employees for the most part are always friendly and helpful.
Got my car serviced as always at Walmart, just got this car and ask them to make sure they checked all fluids and air filter and replace if necessary. And on the check list they said they did all that. But I noticed the oil seemed too dark to have drained all the oil out, and the oil filter seemed old also, so I called to tell the manager that I didn’t believe they serviced my car at all!! He assured me they did and they have a great reputation for doing good work. So I ask him again your sure you topped off all fluids and checked the air filter? And once again he assured me I had nothing to worry about. Well turns out the air filter looks like something had been living in it for years!! Very dirty and should’ve been replaced!! I needed a little power steering fluid as well as a little brake fluid, these guys do awful work and I’ll never trust that crew to touch any of my vevicles anymore!! They will rip you off and management will back them while they do it!! Wish I could post my pics on here for you to see for your self!! Hopefully this reaches the right management team member and they get it fixed cause I’m sure they don’t have a clue what’s going on.. until then I’ll take my vehicles some where else even if I have to pay a little extra!!
My family uses this Walmart for almost all of our shopping needs. Its very clean and organized and for the most part the associates are helpful and nice. Although there are a few that could have a lesson or two on customer service. But all in all I love this Walmart and wouldnt shop any other place.
The online order pickup still has a ways to go. I used the app to alert them and while they had the item picked they didnt exactly know I was on the way as they were supposed to. And still making us sign paper receipts with a pen like its 1994 isnt exactly high tech and having to hike all the way into the bowels of the store is pretty inconvenient. At least put the pickup counter somewhere near the entrance like other stores do. I prefer Walmart to Amazon and actually think Walmart does e-commerce better than Amazon but the order pickup at Walmart feels incomplete. Bring the stuff out to our cars!

Well, its Walmart so what can I say. The prices are reasonable And the store appears to be clean enough. No, there are rarely any cashiers working and you have to do most of the check out process on your own. There are public bathrooms. I dont believe there are any that the men and women shared. The store is handicap accessible. Id like to say that the staff and employees are friendly but since I rarely see them in the store I cant comment on that. this Walmart is very conveniently located. There are other stores in the shopping center if you cant find what you need in Walmart maybe you can find it there
This is usually an ok Walmart. Its normally a little more organized than the one closer to my home but the past 2 times Ive been to this location it is messed up! I understand they are going through a major renovation but its like theres no management. The store is full of people, I mean seriously full. 2 registers open with at least 8 people with full carts. Self checkout on 1 end closed, garden center register closed. Why?
I have shopped here for a year. Every, single time I go to this store, I leave without things I intended to buy because they were out of stock, even on their own branded items! It’s incredibly frustrating. Today my list was short: cereal, peanut butter, wine, and lettuce. There were 3 cereal possibilities, out of stock on each one (one was a great value brand, the other 2 were national brands). Peanut butter, out of stock on the brand I wanted ( great value), wine, out of stock on the type I wanted, lettuce IN STOCK! Yay!, except they heads were all brown and visibly rotting. I have no doubt that the store POS system is tied into inventory management/ordering, so how do they manage to be so consistently out of stock on thing? The first rule of retail is “IF YOU DON’TSTOCK IT, YOU CANNOT SELL IT!”.
This is not our regular walmart. We were running errands in Rome and decide to run it while we were close. They have electronic entry only security gates at the entrance forcing you to go through checkout even if you arent buying anything. Store was clean and fairly well stocked. Having to wait in line to have our receipt checked after checking out was a little inconvenient also. I have never had to do this at any Walmart store before....makes me wonder if this is a high crime area....we probably wont return to this store.
You pretty much can find what you need & Its great that they have the wheelchairs charged & ready to go. Thats new! Use to be dead& just sitting there. You mostly can get help when you need it, theyll get the right person for you! Bathrooms are clean & the people at checkout are so friendly! Ive only had one bad encounter around Christmas & you could tell she had something on her mind. I told her to have a blessed evening & I could tell she needed that, she smiled! So dont forget were all human! Slow down!
There is an associate that works in bedding I guess you would say that he took at least 20 to 30 minutes to help me pick up comforters you just dont find that in a lot of places everyone was very friendly the store was clean the employees were very busy stocking shelves but they did not hesitate to stop what they were doing to help then there was a young man at the exit that walk me to my car I have to use the motorized carts I did not want to leave the card outside and he did not hesitate to go out and help me thanks to all of you Walmart has a bad name in some places but not in mine again thank you Walmart
Great place with great value. The amazing thing is also their savings catcher! If there is a lower price for something you buy somewhere else they will return you the difference to an electronic gift card. Always packed so check out is a little lengthy but u can always pick up a magazine from the side.
Shopping was alright...The New way to scan Savings Catcher is a scam and waste of time... following directions when you scan the QR code it charges your debit card ..they should just tell you that theyve rigged it to be frustrating so customers want use it..Even employees havent the slightest idea how to use it now..Honest opinion...Just say its no longer available so that customers will not hold up the line trying to scan a code that is obviously no longer usable....I guess they got tired of other stores having the better prices
Ah yes, the mighty Walmart ! I guess ratings would depend on which city or neighborhood you go to. My only concerns are two :1) Starting to see fewer Walmart brand items in most locations now. Perhaps theyre getting a good deal on name brand items (?)2) How about some larger shoe sizes? I wear size 15 and my son is size 16 - 17 depending on the style. Kids are getting bigger nowadays and it might be a good idea for the future. Largest work boots Ive seen so far were 14. So, theyre almost there! Unfortunately anyone who wears larger than a 14 has to go to a specialty store and spend well over $100. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to buy shoes at Walmart one day !
U cant help but love walmart ... What I dont understand is they run short on stock of things bought on a day 3 day basis! Like Great Value clean linen disinfectant or Nilla Wafers for instance??? If the products sell this well there is no such things as over stock right?
Love that the store was fully stocked at the time of my visit,they had everything I needed,and had more than 2 registers open was a plus for me,I dont use the self check out because it not only take away jobs it is a magnet for thieves, I dont like to see people stealing food
I visited this Walmart about 2 weeks ago, when I drove all the way from Atlanta to Rome to visit a friend. I must say its a pretty nice clean store as well. with me saying that that means a lot because some of your Walmart or just dirty and unorganized. One thing I will say there pharmacy and health and beauty section was a little claustrophobic. also they have many other varieties of clothes and other products that other Walmarts dont carry especially like my store that I work for in Atlanta off of Cascade Road. And of course I always have to check out every Walmarts meat department, they will full and in stock and have very little outs
Had the worst experience ever. It took 5 white employees just for me to get a price check in Electronics. Then when the manager, who also was white, came back there, she told me to calm down before she had to call someone to escort me off the premises. I was shopping at this place every week for years and now I dont ever want to shop at the other place in Rome GA.

The Store Opens At 6 am, never stocked??Many Isles I Cannot Even Get in, in-between the vendors and Wal marts shoppers,But Two Major Issues, No Employees, Or Management Will Even Come Close To Hearing..The Listed Price On The Shelfs And Whats RingUp At The Check Out.. This Is Major Major FrustratingThis Morning? 2022-06-13Im a little shocked to learn that Walmart is becoming a scan it yourself check out. So what is going to happen to the cashiers now that Walmart is upgrading? But other than that I do love shopping here. Everyone is so nice and always willing to help you when its needed.

2022-06-21I went in to pick up a few things and try and get my ring sized for the 8th time. The older lady at the jewelry counter was more than amazing. I have never enjoyed going in any Walmart but this woman thoroughly enjoyed her job and that made the whole visit enjoyable. After working with her and doing all the paper work to ship my ring off to be sized, I went to grab a few groceries and noticed there were a lot of corn husks. I asked 3 employees about getting them for the horses and none of them knew what to do or who to ask but the last kid made it look like he was doing his best by running all over the place trying to figure it out. Finally I just went back to the jewelry counter and asked the joyful woman who helped with my ring and in 2 minutes she had me standing in front of the managers who told me I was more than welcome to take the husks with. I was extremely shocked and grateful as well as my horses when they received the husk treats the next morning.

2022-06-23This review would have been four stars if the plants sold were in better shape. On more than one occasion the plants kept in the outdoor section are severely under watered with withered, crispy leaves and wilted stems and most are almost dead. On one visit there was a cart of plants with several pots of caladiums that looked as if they were about to be trashed. I noticed a few of them had some new growth and when I got to check out I asked if they could be discounted since they looked like they were going to be they were going to be thrown away and all the plant was nearly dead so they asked the manager and they wouldnt reduce them from $6 a piece. This feels like Walmart would rather sell me what now basically looks like potpourri for the full price or throw them away than discount it. If it were any other item that was inanimate then I could understand the decision but when its something living I just think it says alot about their values. If they want to sell plants and want people to feel happy with the product and the price then they should put a major effort into making sure that the plants are taken care of well and hire people specifically for that position that have basic knowledge on how to keep them alive and care for and about plants. On my last visit to the garden center every plant in the areas that get a lot sun almost all of the plants were dead. The temperatures have been extremely high and I see several employees walk in and walk out and even one sat right across from these dehydrated plants in a chair just looking at them. Since she came in a sat down she had done absolutely nothing other than sit in that chair and watch me browse the plants while toting a hydrangea that had thankfully been marked down to $5 and watch people enter and exit the store and stare at all the plants desperately in need of water during a heat wave. So, the employees there definitely see the plants need water yet they arent getting watered regularly and no one cares to correct it. Either take care of them or dont sell them at all.

2022-06-09Ive definitely had better experiences at every other Walmart Ive ever been to. The greeter at the door could have been kinder and the grocery entrance is completely shut down. Not to mention it was poorly designed.

2022-02-08Generally, they have everything I need at a really good price. I mainly shop there for my dog supplies, but last week I was also able to find a few DVDs and CDs as well. A quick check out time too!

2022-03-13We had the best pickup experience of any of the locations today. Stephanie was nice and spoke to us the whole time she loaded and was very careful to make sure any items were properly stored in our car.

2022-07-03Awful customer service. Except for the deli, they would have had to acknowledge me after standing at the deli counter for 5 minutes in order to provide me bad service, but I got none so what can you do except walk away. Not worth it. Go to the other wal mart in Rome, it’s much better.

2022-04-20Grocery aisles could be labeled better. Dog groceries are way across the store from people groceries. There is no rhyme or reason on grocery stock layout when compared to some other Walmart stores. This West Rome Walmart is OFF my list for shopping
