Hidden vinyl gem in the heart of The Battery. Easy to find titles and artists when you just don’t have the time for a treasure hunt. Best 45s collection in Atlanta I’ve seen. It’s a great alternative to my local spots in LP5. Used audio gear updates as well. Friendly, knowledgeable owner.Use green parking lot for back of store entrance. Much easier than street parking at peak times.
Had a blast from the past!!! They have a great selection of LPs, comic books, atari video game cartidges, retro pins, DVDs, VHS and even a selection of the large movie laser discs 😲. Great customers service. Made us feel comfortable, cause some of these places can make you feel like you dont belong there. The manager was very informative and helpful. I feel the prices were fair. I would visit them again.
Saw an awesome band here- room 213- and had a great time. cool little venue especially considering its mainly a record store! room to dance and lots of posters and of course records and stuff to look at when not dancing. make sure to turn off the light when you go to the bathroom!!
This is a great spot for records, old and new. The guy working there was really nice and offered to help me immediately. I found some really good records at really good prices. I picked up Lionel Richie, EPMD, Betty Wright, Marvin Gaye, and a few others and spent less than $30. Parking was not an issue (4 hours for free) and the store is located right off of the parking garage. I plan on returning soon.
Ive been going to this record store for the better part of 4 years and theyve always been among if not my favorite record store in Atlanta. You can always expect to find a good variety at almost dirt cheap prices. I found at least 5 records that would cost upwards of 20$ in the dollar crates. I can always count on leaving with a nice stack of records for under 25$. They also have a nice Technics Turntable setup w/a decent preamp for you to test out your records before you leave. The main thing I love about Waterloo is that you can come in and get straight into the music without the fluff and overblown prices. The environment is nice although I preferred the old Smyrna location to this one. The new location is in the SunTrust Park area and as a result, you get wandering baseball fans coming in and messing with the vibe. But thats a minor complaint. And another added benefit is that you can now take Public Transportation all the way to the shop basically. So if youre looking for a good down to Earth, fair priced store, Waterloo might be your best bet. 15$ can go far in this store if you know how to dig the crates.
I am an employee at Waterloo Sunset Records and want to formally shout out Troy! Troy is one of the most selfless people I know. He is constantly going out of his way to help others and is a kind soul to anyone he meets. I am not doing this in hope to get a raise, but write this message with all the sincerity in my heart.
Found this awesome shop walking around the battery. Upon walking in they were hosting a live concert and it was such great vibes. I looked around the store found some amazing vintage comics for great prices (very rare to find) I was very stoked! Then I also found some really cool prints of Mac Miller & KID Cudi. Everything is very reasonable priced! I also met the owner and we chatted for a bit, hes so done to earth and such a nice person! Hes a rad guy that owns a dope shop! Check it out and support your local business, very rare to find such wholesome people and stores!
Waterloo Sunset Records has turned out to be a hidden gem that I was not aware of until about two months ago. My daughter and I have a deep appreciation for, not only music in general, but a respect the thought and attention to detail that bands put into a released LP. Its a lost art. Anyway, this place is amazing. Incredible selection of not only new albums from bands, but some really, unique and rare classic psychedelic rock albums that were released specifically for another country, that I have never seen before. Unbelievably low priced. I frame my albums as artwork and... since we discovered this place two months ago, Ive spent almost $400 there. That sums it up.
Great selection of vinyl, poor customer service. I was the only one not greeted or spoken to the hour I was there. Wouldve spent some money there if I was acknowledged but fortunately there is other record stores in town. I highly Recommend Criminal records in Little 5points
From the time I called this business until the end of my transaction it was a pleasant experience. I would like to thank Troy add Ted for their excellent customer service. They were very welcoming, helpful, and hospitable. I went to their location because my son had some vinyl albums to sell and wanted to liquidate them. The process was smooth and they took time to go through each album. I would highly recommend this business if you are buying and selling or trading your vinyl albums, 45’s and other music items. Thanks so much Troy and Ted.
Take a hard pass on this place. For anyone whos been collecting records since before it was cool again, there is no substance here. Lots of boomer rock, all the hits, but little to no selection of anything else. Jazz section is meh. Punk section is like three crates. And the place was organized by a schizophrenic. I couldnt find anything. Finally, fire the guy at the register. He was more concerned with blasting RATM then he was with helping me find what I wanted. Its abundantly clear this stores only purpose is to look cool for tourists at the Battery.
I brought my record and DVD collection to them today. I was very impressed with their service and friendliness. I ended up spending a couple hours with people that I didnt even know, yet it was like we were best friends that hadnt seen each other in years. We talked about past concerts weve seen, groups we like, albums, etc. It was really amazing. Sometimes its not always about the money, but knowing that if I can share a little bit of my music history with the next generation that makes me happy. I highly recommend this company to do your business with and I wish them all the success!!
Great vinyl record store in the Battery Atlanta. Great price on used vinyl, even sealed vinyl is reasonably priced. Be prepared to spend some time here and search through their collection. I have found some gems, most of the time under $10. Everything I have purchased here so far has played, which is a plus especially when you are buying used albums. Dont overlook the $1 bin, I have found some rare gems here. Employees are fine with you just searching, and they are very friendly.
From Indiana and visiting family in GA. Love visiting record shops and this was one of the best experiences. Great prices and loved the way it was organized. They had a $1 bin where treasures could be found. Definitely recommend visiting. Right by the ballpark in a very safe area.
One of the best record stores in the Atlanta area. I’ve yet to be to a vinyl store around that has better pricing on new and used records than Waterloo. The owners are very friendly and will sit and talk about music, Star Wars, and even college basketball with you. Would highly recommend stopping in to look around whenever you’re in the area, as they get new records every week and you never know what you’ll find.
I hadn’t gone to The Battery all year until last week and I’ve been back to the store 3 times since then! I love this place- my mom and I went in today looking to buy one of the vintage toys for my brother and the owner took the time to explain which ones he recommended and why. I googled how much they go for online and his prices and definitely unbeatable. I’ll definitely be back every time I get the chance.
Troy Glen stopped by my beloved fathers home today to buy back his collection classic R&B and Jazz albums. Besides being very knowledgeable and friendly, his offer was reasonable. I would definitely do business with him again in the near future, and Im looking forward to visiting the store soon.
Great store with an amazing selection and equally amazing staff who are super helpful and engaging! Very well rounded assortment of records from an extensive retro collection with all the necessary newly released vinyls as well as others you didn’t know you needed. They have a great $1 bin in addition to some others great deals, awesome place to stop by for some holiday presents. By far the best record selection and store in atlanta metro!!
I love this place! They have literally everything for music lovers. They have every artist you can think of from young to old. My friend and I purchased Frank Sinatra and Travis Scott to give you an idea lol. The customer service and ambiance was great. They also have other items like things for gaming, posters, and action figures. Give this place a try; you won’t regret it!
Great store! Thank you for doing me a solid and helping me out yesterday! This record store has an awesome 80’s new wave section as well as classic country. Of course they have an ample selection of new releases. Also, Waterloo has comics and dvds as well. I even saw some retro NES games in there. Definitely a store you should visit whether you are a local or visiting if you find yourself near the new Braves stadium.
Had the best experience today at their store. I brought my 3 year old daughter with me, and she was a little disappointed the collectable toys on display were not something she could have. The owner overheard our conversation and came by and asked her if she was looking for a toy and she enthusiastically said Yes!. He walked her to the front of the store and proceeded to hand her a bobblehead doll off the shelf and told her it was hers to keep. It made both our days. Ill be back to support such a great business, and I hope anyone reading this will stop by to do the same. This is exactly the type of business we should go out of our way to support. Thank you so much, youre a great example of whats right in this world!
Best record store in the nation, if not the world. Amazing staff who are so insanely helpful and treat you like family. Huge selection of not just records, but comic books, posters, and CDs. Everythings categorized extremely well. Must visit place for record collectors!
Great record selection and location. Good vinyls and prices. Customer service is not great at all though. They didnt hand me my card after I paid and instead put it on the counter. They dont greet when you walk in nor bag your items. Didnt feel very welcoming. Overall, they have gems for low prices, but customer service is lackluster.
Easily in top 3 best record stores in GA. Great selection and extremely fair pricing. Found 2 ethnic folkways for $6 & $7 (you never find them this low), Hendrix boot for $8... I brought a stack of $1 records and a stack of special price albums to the counter to pay, and the owner gave me all of $1 records for free. I’ve been to dozens of record stores throughout the country, and this place knows what they’re doing. If you’re a vinyl junkie in GA or just passing through, I highly recommend Waterloo Sunset.
I thought this place was great. I assume that they only had music, they have a lot more than that. They had a lot of different vinyl records, which is what I was looking for, for a very reasonable price. They had comic books and vintage games as well. Much more than what I bargained for and I will definitely go back.
I am a visitor to Atlanta, and I am a record collector. Waterloo Sunset has an amazing collection with endless choices. The owner is knowledgeable and very nice. The shop was clean and easy to navigate with very reasonable prices. I would 10/10 recommend. Wonderful experience!!!!
I went to The Battery thinking this will just be another gentrified record store with a terrible selection of represses and over priced classic rock.I couldnt have been more wrong. After years of collecting, Ive found one of the best priced stores with one of the widest selections. Moreover, I didnt have to dig for an hour to find what I wanted. The environment is clean, the staff is friendly, and I cant recommend it more.
I went into Waterloo Records hoping to have a good experience at a nice new local establishment. I brought records to sell, and left them with the cashier to look at while I looked around in the store. When I returned to see how he had fared with my records, he was very rude to me. He spoke to me condescendingly, and told me that “no one would be interested in buying these records,“ “no one has ever heard of any of this”. Now, I don’t mind if he doesn’t want to buy the records – but it was very insulting to my taste, without need. I also felt like since I was a young female, he treated me with less respect than he would have if I had been an older gentleman. He assumed a “sorry sweetheart” attitude with me. I left feeling degraded and disappointed. This is probably a great record store for old white dudes who are interested in buying records. I really wanted to like this cool new local business. I won’t be back.
If you want a niche place to shop, this is it. Think of the 80s rexord store. They have old records, new records, players,, CDs, 45s, posters, a little bit of a lot is in this place. Prices are reasonable. Located in the Battery park and your can dine and shop. A must to visit and you will be surprised to find something you didnt need but really want in this store.
Was visiting from out of town. This seemed like a pretty cool shop and I dropped a good bit of coin here; however, they hit on my biggest record pet peeve. I bought a $30+ record that had water spot cover damage hidden behind the very large price sticker. They knew what they were doing when they put the price sticker there and they certainly didnt discount the price for the damage. Now Im back home cleaning covers and figure out that Ive been had. Ugh. For records of this price point I expect the damage to either be noted or not hidden.
The owner didn’t greet my husband or me and was very rude when we did communicate. He never even acknowledged us, never asked us did we need any help, and when it was time to pay, he just motioned for my husband to come to the other counter and slid his debit card on the table as opposed to placing it in his hands.I hate we spent any money with them, but I was in such a great mood to finally be out of the house due to COVID that I didn’t realize the way we were treated until we had already left. We will not be back and I would not recommend.
The selection of used vinyl in addition to new is fantastic, plus if you need new equipment or used vintage equipment they carry an ever rotating stock of turntables, amps and speakers. The selection of 45s is ASTOUNDING. They have a ton of high quality titles going back to 1950s whereas most shops only have 70s / 80s stuff at low prices. The 45s here are also on average in much better condition at lower price vs the other places but the amazing thing is probably over 90 percent of even the 50+ year old titles are original or early pressings, not 80s or modern reissues. If you cant find 45s you like here, then you, like the great Muddy Waters, cant be satisfied.LP selection is just as amazing for its breadth. Prices on used LPs are great, and new LP prices are very competitive.Store staff are very friendly people. This place cannot be beat for vinyl.I have purchased over 100 45s and a few LPs here already in my short acquaintance with this store. The minutes or hours you spend here will be worth your investment. And a very nice selection of audio CDs, and movie discs including lots of great Blu Ray and even a few 4k discs is there, so digital-disc fans are not left out.
First time visit on a Wednesday afternoon. The owners sitting near the front with three other people and a dog discussing promotions for an upcoming music event; no acknowledgement of my entrance, atmosphere seemed cold and aloof (strike one). After perusing briefly, I approach the owner to ask if they buy vinyl and, if so, could I bring a crate in. He said yes... and when I went out and brought it in I was told, Just put it over there... (pointing to the floor by the dog... strike two).As I continued looking, theyre still discussing promotions with one guy blithely flipping through a few LPs in the crate. Twenty minutes later, with other stops to make and cognizant of the fact that they obviously couldnt be bothered, I told them I had to leave. I mean, I would say they acted like I was an imposition to them, but I dont think they were even THAT cognizant of the few customers in the shop... as they say in The Battery, three strikes: youre out.To be fair, their stock wasnt too bad and their prices didnt seem crazy. In fact, I MIGHT have considered a purchase otherwise... but it cost me $$$ in the parking meter for nothing in return but a cold shoulder, and they cant touch Fantasyland, Wuxtry or any of the other more established record shops in the ATL area... so why bother?
Today 3/7 I walked into Waterloo records and the same gentleman that is working is very disrespectful and grouchy every time I come in here. This was my second attempt for Waterloo records and just poor service. I was planning to get a house credit today and dropping off about 30 records. We come into record stores to surround ourselves with similar people that enjoy music. Wrong person to have working your store. I was going to come to record store day here but that won’t happen. I will be taking my business somewhere else and telling others in the hobby to not waste there time at Waterloo records.
Popped in today for a first time visit and Im so glad I chose Waterloo for my weekend record hunt. I spent way more money than I planed, but I had to because what was available was so amazing and at such fair prices, itd be years before Id happen again on what I got. And, I just scratched the surface of what I wanted to get. At first, I didnt think there would be much Id want as the store is one of the smaller shops in town. However, what they lack in space is more than made up by the quality of what they have for sale. There werent a bunch of records that would take years to sell, or scores of repress copies, although there is a tasteful assortment of repressings or new copies as should be expected. What I saw were records that were not only in excellent condition, but records by bands I love and albums that one usually only can find online, without the worry over a puffed up grade or damage during shipping. This will be my go-to store from now until Im sated, broke, or one of us calls it quits.
Not greeted when entered. Not thanked for coming when we exited. Lots of vinyl records, CDs, tapes, DVDs, all genres of music. They also sell turn tables (record players), etc. Not customer service oriented. Not sure if I would return. 2 STARS for having a nice store and a variety of old school entertainment choices.
So in my quest to find my top 50 Alumbs of all time, I thought I would give this spot a try. I cant say I was impressed because I was not sure what the priceing was based on.Some stores price based on the condition of the vinyl, other the demand for hard to find. And some use a combotion of the both.I could find no ryhme or reason here. I thought I had found a gem until I looked at the vinyl. It was totaly trashed, but they wanted $36 for it. No way I am paying over $30 .00 for anything less than M-But Im somebody there check the price of the artist in question and saw it sales for about that price on Discogs. Then I found another aritst I had been tracking down, vinyl was G- (after a deep clean about a G+) for $8.000. I got it, but was really confused as to how they value alabums.I also found they didnt seem to have them organized very well, but that could be customers not putting things back as they should be.I gave it 3 starts, but I am kinda picky so for some that same 3 might be a 4.
Cool record shop in the middle of the Battery. Great selection with a broad reach of genres. I founds lots of old favorites and new favorites. They also sell vhs, dvds, cds, cassettes, and some collectible paraphernalia. Great place to stop while walking through the area.
A must-have visit to Waterloo Sunset Records is recommended when in the Symrna area. They not only sell music but really know about it...inquire and they will deliver their perspective on analog this and digital that. Sections of music are easily located and their record bins still have that fresh, woody aroma that can perk-up your interests as you gander among their offerings of sound and vision.Brought them several boxes of vintage Lps and 45s which they gladly unloaded and brought into the store for a buy. Youll get a fine deal on quality trade-ins. And if you are fortunate enough...even Buttercup, the un-offical Mayor of Waterloo will wag his tail in agreement!God Save the Kinks!

2022-02-25Amazing! Great selection. Troy was super knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect picks. Spacious store. Well organized. Love the area that it is located in. Thanks for making my shopping experience memorable! I’ll stop by the next time I’m in Atlanta.

2022-04-30Huge record shop! The outside is deceiving about the inside! Tons of records and great selection! Lots of comics, movies, and nerd goodies like FunkoPop, cards, figurines. A wall of rock t-shirts! A little cluttery but still easy to move through the store. So much stuff in here your head will be on a swivel. We spent way more than we should have but left happy with what we found! They also have drinks and snacks if you just need to pop in for a quick breather out of the sun! Staff were great and truly love the shop!

2022-05-01Amazing used selection, perhaps the best in Atlanta, without the big city prices. Organized and awesome! If youre a digger, set some time aside for it. This place keeps getting better, inventory expanded about 3 times in as many years. One of the friendliest group of employees Ive ever encountered too!

2022-04-22Oh my gosh! What a trip down memory lane!! Before the Braves game I wanted to take a look at some of the shops and I caught Troy as he was about to go home. He saw me looking at some of the Pokémon cards and we got to talking about how cool vintage is and our favorites sets and cards. It turned into an almost hour long conversation as he showed me his AMAZING vintage set. Long story short, I walked out with two cards that have a ton of nostalgia for me. THANK YOU Troy and Atticus for such a pleasant time. I’ll be back for sure! Highly recommend for any collectors or those looking to get into the hobby. They truly care about the collecting community!

2021-09-14Has a great time looking through all the records at this place. The owner (I think thats who he was) was so friendly and helpful. There is even a record player and couch there so you can listen to some of the records before you buy them. There is also a selection of posters for sale and some other cool finds. You should stop by and check this place out!

2022-04-11This was my 1st time in there and the experience was great! I could listen to any album before I bought it. Also... the BIGGEST thing was there was a rare box set album that I needed just 2 of the records. They opened the box set and let me buy the 2 albums I needed. Will definitely be going back.

2022-07-27Decent selection. 1/4 tapes didnt play. I was told over the phone they were much cheaper per cassette. Workers gave me a weird vibe, I probably wont be back soon, but that probably wont bother them much.

2022-07-31Great store, although I dont own a record player. Went by there last night and everything was completely cleared out, so they might be closed permanently soon.

2022-05-09I like the store. Still learning my way around the Battery tho. Go Braves!
